Wax, shatter, oil, whats the difference?

Whats the difference between all of the different forms of concentrates? I know a little bit from searching, but i always find giant articles on sites like the high times where i have to spend 5 minutes reading each one just to get a small bit of info. I was looking for cannabis/thc juice for a vape, but im finding really varied prices like $20 or $30 per ml, or $30 for 500ml. How many uses would you be able to get out of an ml on average?

Texture

Wax is a general term, oil is kind of goopy. Shatter means hard

Several vendors sell pre-packaged carts. These will screw right on to any 510 battery. Research your vendors here and at r/danknation. Stay away from vendors that have reports of weak products.
You can also get bottles of the same mix so you can fill your own tanks. This is will be pg/vg mixed with wax/shatter. This will be cheaper in the long run.

Even cheaper would be to buy wax/shatter/crumble/pull&snap/whatever you want to call it by the gram(mix it yourself or vape directly on a coil atomizer or ceramic donut) The difference between these are attributable to many factors including quality of the starting material, solvent used, temp and length of purge, type and amount of terpenes present, other variables that I am too high to type out.

If you are on a budget, you can get a pen for $10-20 and a decent tank for the same. If you have $100 to invest, go with a 40 watt battery with a source orb or divine tribe and a tank, this way you can vape concentrates directly and have a tank for going out.

Stay away from rso or anything black, this is not what you want to vape.
There is a lot to learn about extracts at r/cannabisextracts.

it really depends on what they are using to make said product. you want that nug run, trim is for resale. I love some good blue dream crumble, or dank green crack crumble oh so good. I like my shatter too, esp if it's some dank og., all light and glassy, mmm. i don't use cartridges. just a preference thing. but derpy's right, it's texture.
