Raids in Quebec related to a "Worldwide dark web operation". FBI Involved, computers seized.

Possibly linked to Alphabay being down? Article does not mention much beside that its a worldwide Dark Web drug operation and that computers were seized. The raids were conducted as part of an ongoing operation and more raids and arrests are scheduled in the near future.

A police operation is in progress, this morning, in Trois-Rivières while the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) proceeded to two searches in connection to a worldwide network of sale of illicit products in the "Dark Web".

The seizures took place street Saint Laurent and street Fishpond, in the sector Cap-de-la-Madeleine. A private residence as well as a mini-warehouse were visited by the policemen who were searching for computer hardware.

The Police service of Trois-Rivières and the American federal police, the FBI, are also involved in the file.

It seems that the people involved operated from several places in the world.

The police also proceeded to an arrest in Thailand. It is the son of a resident aimed by one of the searches.

The RCMP did not make many statements, contenting with saying that it was a search related to a broader investigation. "There is going to be more arrests" added captain Camille Habel.

Its interesting because it is the FBI that is involved, and not the DEA, suggesting that its a market-related operation instead of a vendor-related operation, similar to the ones that took out Silkroad back in the days.

I find the notion that AlphaBay is hosted on only 1 server in only 1 country LUDICROUS. Probably impossible.

Investigators with the RCMP were in the process of executing search warrants in Montreal and Trois-Rivières Wednesday morning, reportedly in connection with the sale of merchandise on the “Dark Web” of the Internet. An RCMP spokesperson in Montreal confirmed two raids on residences in Trois-Rivières as well as one on a business address in Montreal, but stopped short of confirming a TVA report that the raids were carried out in connection the online sale of illicit merchandise. The report also said the local raids were part of a larger, international investigation including the FBI, and that one person had been arrested.

Alphabay is based in Russia, not sure what you're trying to get at dude. If anything I think it's just a bunch of Canadians vendors and the like.

Dream was also down for a period but is now back up. Hmm. Best to avoid ordering all together for a few days if possible.

Or... Quantik? Arrests in Asia could be related to distribution of chemicals...

Guys, Alphabay is very obviously based in Russia, not the eastern part of Canada. i thought it was common knowledge that it is run by well known (on the darknet) Russian carders/hackers. They even have an option on there if you have a dispute do you require a Russian moderator and they don't allow the sale of any credit card info of Russian citizens or any fraud that would effect Russians.

Alphabay also has multiple servers and I feel they would be to smart to host them in a country like Canada when there are dozens of better countries with better privacy laws.

Mentioning the FBI I'm courious if theres any relation to Elysium http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-40517193

may be bad luck and ab was hosted on the same server?

That could also explain why theres no proud DEA officer talking about an AB bust cause LE busted AB per hazard... lol...

[1 Points] haloman556:

omg hopefully this wasn't the vendor I just ordered from "TheXanaxPlug" or hoping mine went out before all of this either way I'm screwed with this shit that happened to AB fucked out of $900 and if I don't figure out this recent order itll be $1750
