Can I use an independent PO box company?

So in my town there's a store that does a bunch of shipping services for UPS/FedEx/USPS. But in addition to providing shipping services, you can also rent a mailbox from them. It's like a PO box except that it's cheaper, and they offer a nice low per-package rate.

So my question is, is it okay to use them as opposed to a regular PO box? It would save me a lot of money, and I don't really know how to get a drop address. They can't legally open my mail right?

Since it's a private business I doubt you'll get anywhere near as much protection as an actual PO Box. You've also got very little plausible deniability.

Been there done that, the answer is yes and they are reliable. Go with UPS.

Of course they can't open your mail, this isn't communist China. Many of those PO/ shipping places allow you to use the stores physical address and not the PO box within the store - ask them. If they require an ID which 98% do.. I'd suggest having more than sketchy overseas envelopes and priority packages delivered occasionally. Have magazines, subscriptions, some bs bills, aka- some type of real mail. Good luck OP..
