Bitcoin address the "smoking gun" to convict dark web murder-for-hire customer

I've been at the trial of Stephen Allwine for the last 2 weeks, which finished today with a guilty verdict. He was convicted of shooting his wife Amy in the head after trying to hire a hitman on the Besa Mafia website.

He was scammed, of course, out of some $13,000. He then turned to Dream market to buy scopolomine, which he used to drug his wife, then he shot her in the right temple.

He bought bitcoin from LBC and met one seller in person at a Wendys. Unfortunately he locked his keys in his car and he had to call Roadside Assist to pick him up.

He used the username 'dogdaygod' on Besa Mafia, Dream and here on Reddit.

There was a load of circumstantial evidence that mounted up, but the smoking gun was a bitcoin address. Forensics on his MacBook found an old iPhone backup on which there was a note with a bitcoin address on it, which had been made, then deleted less than.a minute later. The address was into Besa Mafia's wallet and it matched an address Dogdaygod had advised Besa he had paid into in an email. (Besa was hacked a while back, emails revealed)

His motive, apparently, was his strict church would dump him if he divorced and he didn't; want to be married any more.

Umm what? Why do you need to drug someone before you shoot them?

You have to delete within 17 seconds or Brad from LE catches it.
