Darknet market dead drops. Could this idea work? What are other ideas you have to make the markets safer?

One of the thing that turns me off about these markets is giving an address. In major metro areas, I bet there's a way this could be overcome by buyer and seller creating dead drops for product. The seller puts the product in a dead drop location and then alerts the buyer who can come retrieve it and then release funds from escrow. This way, buyer and seller do not know each other's identities. The postal service is not used, getting rid of that trail. It would be no more prone to scammers than before. The only major difference is that the buyer would be more out in the open and lose deniability if a package is seized. Also, the seller can change up dead drops as much as they like, instead of relying on going to a post office and potentially leaving a trackable pattern. The only downside is that it requires someone to be local to the buyer.

What are some of your ideas to improve these markets?

Not at all a good idea and a big flaw in security and anonymity of buyers and Vendors.

If you want an example on this :

I think a lot of people would be busted.

Bad idea, use the post and keep evidence of orders well hidden and deny everything. 99.97% of the time your order will come fine.

Back in the days of SR1 I heard about a dark market in russia that relied solely on dead drops. It was apparently pretty successful from what I remember. I've given it some thought before and I don't think it would work in america. LE would infiltrate it too quickly. They could easily obtain a vendors account, leave dead drops, and then bust the buyer right after he picks it up. Vendors could be caught pretty easily too. They could get away with it for a while, but local LE would likely launch an investigation and eventually mistakes would be made, especially if the vendor was making more than a few drops a day. It would just be too risky all around.
