Multisig is still not being used, while cleartext addresses are on the rise on EVO.

Encryption Aug Sept Oct Nov
Safe Encryption 46% 52% 62% 57%
Unsafe Encryption 24% 24% 19% 6%
Clear text 30% 23% 19% 37%
Multisig 1 2 1 1
Auto-finalized 24%

Unsafe Encryption

I'm selling mostly personal amounts of weed and shrooms, so my customers are end users buying small amounts.
"Multisig is prefered" and "Please use PGP whenever possible " stated in the listing. The market is EVO.

Some of the Auto-Finalized transactions might have been auto finalized before arrival (overseas shipping might take longer than 14 days) so the actual number might be 18% instead of 24% after deducting orders from overseas.

dumbass SR2 refugees I'm guessing

Luckily for the 37% of your customers, Evolution probably has in-built encryption. It most certainly is not the best option for buyers, as their first -and only layer of security; but at least they have it.

I like people not using PGP.

Lowest hanging fruit when the 5-0 comealookin'

I personally don't use multisig (too lazy, I guess) but I PGP everything, even simple questions to vendors. It's too fucking easy to do, why wouldn't you?

[3 Points] P33911:

Its worth noting that the markets currently offering multisig still have a risk of btc loss. Most require buyer first deposit btc to the central market wallet who in turn will send btc to the multisig wallet. Its not perfect but better than nothing as the loss risk window is limited until the public gets word that btc is being lost.

Theres a new market TOM which is doing things right and allowing direct multisig wallet payment thus giving truly trustless multisig. This is how tmp did it and why they had some very loyal fans. Shame it never caught on and that they wound up disappearing into a black hole. But at least they didnt conciously rob or lose their members btc.

Like fungee said, getting that public key is easy and u can reuse it even across different markets if ur lazy. Just never give out ur private key for a public key that is being actively used.

And never trust server side encryption. That is just laziness that is inexcuseable. MTelling vendors not to do business with them is silly as the damage is done once cleartext addresses are input to a database. Buyer needs to protect themselves if theyre going to use these markets. Markets should enforce encryption if they truly have member security interest. Buyers on the other hand should run far and fast if a vendor ever posts any traceable info in cleartext.

Lastly, market central escrow gets far too much credit as a safety net. So for those who refuse ti funalize early for trusted proven vendors, u really arent as protected as u think. 1. Established vendor who wants to selectively scam u will succeed. Shipping a bag of dirt with tracking number will surely result in a dispute favored to vendor for at least half of the money. 2. History of markets stealing or losing the funds is probably far greater than history of well known vendors scamming their past buyers. It happens im sure but market loss chances are higher imo.

PGP should be mandatory. Mutli-sig should be mandatory. Anything less should be unacceptable.

[2 Points] ApricockApecot:

What kind of idiot can't use PGP? It's built in to Tails for Christ's sake

[2 Points] youtakesally:

Well, if someone wants to take the money on EVO, multisig won't help, since you have to send the coins to the centralized wallet (this is so retarded it looks like a exit scam door made on purpose).

I can understand them using clear text for a drop house buy not there real crib

[1 Points] kirkkommander:

Not surprised really. Until such measure are enforced people will continue to do whatever is easiest and quickest. Unfortunately their actions erode the safety of the wider system.

Come on people. These tools were built and work. Use them.

[1 Points] None:

Doesnt the encyption method not matter because the cypher text is derived from the seller's public key? So no matter what encryption program you use, isn't the outcome going to be the same? Please correct me if I'm wrong this is something that I've been wondering about since I first heard of PGP

[0 Points] None:

If you are that concerned - stop selling to people who can't PGP. And I would never let my escrow AF without the product being in front of me - you've got some sucker customers.
