Which vpn service to use? + other questions

I've been trying to set up a vpn for my dnm browsing..are there any good FREE vpn services out there? I've done some reasearch and gathered that you're not supposed to use one that keeps logs.

other question: What type of vpn should i use? Is PPTP ok? Also, is it safe to use windows built in VPN?

I don't think there are any reputable 100% free VPN providers, unless you want to get your own box and run your own openvpn server. I would check out Mullvad, they have a very good policy regarding logging; they don't. They accept bitcoin, which is a plus for me, and a bunch of other payment methods. PPTP is known for being vulnerable. If you want to be bulletproof (theoretically) use OpenVPN.

is it safe to use windows built in VPN?

Depends on what version of windows you are using.

I heard Mullvad is good, as someone else mentioned.

The one I currently use it PureVPN. I'm not sure if their logging policy is as safe as some of the others but they are reliable and I paid for 1 year and got an extra year free. Idk if they still have that going on but that got me 2 years of protection for $50.

There are many free options but would you take the risk of using a free VPN? I wouldn't, but I guess it depends on what you are doing. I mean I order all the time by just using TOR and everything has been fine. If you are trying to do something more serious and want to make sure you are safe, you need a good VPN, and that won't be free sorry.

Tails without VPN is much more safe and anonymous than VPN on Windows.

if they're not selling you a product, their selling your information, nothing is free. use mullvad and pay with btc

Use mullavad. You can create new accounts that give you 3 hours indefinitely. Or just pay a little bitcoin and have days or months or year if right amount.

Mullvad, airvpn, nordvpn

All no logs, many servers, many users, take btc

So yea is PPTP VPN safe enough? Seems like the easiest one, but is it decent enough?

Got a year of NordVPN for like $30, just googled around for a coupon

https://ovpn.to is great but not for the novice. Their instructions (in somewhat broken, german-accented english) and site's control panel UI are not well done so you basically have to know what you're doing or seek help from their support to set it up, but they let you use all their servers with SSH as well as with openvpn.
