Please discuss amongst yourselves VPNs and spreading out risk ---OPSEC

I think this is more speculative than anything else, so I guess let me know what you think. Do you think that buying a shared (not necessarily hacked) VPN account from a log or no-log VPN will increase or decrease the likelihood of being subpoenaed for your true IP? Please back up your case for or against it, I'm genuinely curious about what more seasoned DNM participants think

Better use a vpn that asks for no personal info and takes bitcoin for payment only. And if there is still people with old routers around you in your neighborhood, well, its easy to use their internet instead. I know it's not illegal to do so in Canada (connecting to an unprotected (WPS turned on) wifi signal.

1) What do you mean by a shared VPN account exactly?

2) You definitely don't want a VPN that logs anything that can incriminate you (https://torrentfreak.com/vpn-anonymous-review-160220/ ... https://torrentfreak.com/vpn-providers-no-logging-claims-tested-in-fbi-case-160312/)

3) If using Tor, a subpoena is effectively useless anyway since all they can turn over is encrypted Tor traffic. And if using a quality VPN to connect to Tor, you'll have a bit more protection in the event Tor is breached somehow, all they'll get it the VPN's server IP and not yours. Tor + VPN is safer than either alone, with different perks depending which you connect to first.

Stay safe out there.

Made a throwaway just for this.

I use perfect-privacy.com, comes with VPN and SSH tunnel. I run 2 VPN's cascading, with an SSH tunnel linked to a proxy chain from various countries. But if you're just buying stuff off DNM's... VPN+Tails+Tor and you're fine.

Good luck everyone.

You don't "spread out" risk. wtf nigga.

Jesus the wording of your post is stupid. OBVIOUSLY a VPN is going to offer more protection than no vpn. It's one more step LE has to go through.

"No Log" doesn't mean shit you need to find a VPN in a country that doesn't require data retention. Do some research.
