For example,
JANE DOE
1492 COLOMBUS AVE
SOME RANDOM CITY, FL 12345-6789
Does putting the additional four numbers on your zip code really make the shipping go faster?
For example,
JANE DOE
1492 COLOMBUS AVE
SOME RANDOM CITY, FL 12345-6789

it helps for easier and faster sorting when being ran through the machine. so it doesn't necessarily make shipping go faster, but speeds up the process if that makes sense.

"A real important benefit to using ZIP+4, however, is delivery speed. Using ZIP+4 on your mail can speed up processing and delivery, sometimes by as much as two days. That's right, you're mail can show up faster if you label things right."
[3 Points] papervoid:
Yes. It allows a machine to sort it instead of by hand which is slower. Also, that address is fake.

The last four digits correspond to a specific building within a block or a street. You may also have two different 4 digit ending zip codes for one building if it is business and residential. In turn this make sorting easier and metaphorically is like tumbling bitcoins.

every little bit you can do to safetly get orders delievered to you should be done, right. ....or do you want to make it harder fer orders to get to you? in that case dont use em.

I see no reason to leave it off if you know it. Seems like it could only help.
[1 Points] ChumBucket2:
Some vendors will reject your order if a search of your address produces multiple addresses with different zip+4 extensions. Just do it.
[1 Points] DruggieKitten:
in cities with multiple post offices it'll make it get to the correct post office faster
that's not even a real address
