Proper Postage format?

Hey, I made an order a while back and instead of giving my full first name I gave my initial and my full last name e.g instead of John Doe I put J. Doe. Does this have any effect of whether or not the package will be delivered? The rest of the information was correct & proper e.g address postal code etc. I'm asking because I ordered from two vendors 1 domestic and another foreign and both after 10+ business days they haven't arrived. I'm referring to Canada Post as well. If the package doesn't get delivered then what would happen to it? will its contents get disposed and will my address be tracked?

I mean technically speaking you could put "current occupant" or "resident" as the name and it would get delivered so I can't imagine the post wouldn't deliver it for that reason. Living in the US I've always found the Canadian Post to be quite slow if it's not express mail. I ordered something from Canada once to East Coast of the US and it took over 2 weeks. Granted I assume it's much faster domestically in Canada but I'd say reach out to the vendors.

What is this?

Not that I'm 'old' my any stretch, but I frequently see posts in this sub that make me wonder if 'kids these days' have ever even mailed a letter to grandma, or paid a bill or any one of the very normal things the Postal system is used for.

OP- whatever is going on, it has absolutely nothing to do with how you formatted your name. Heck, just use logic for a second. What would their sorting system/process/database have to look like for this to make any difference AND not cause massive misdeliveries and confusion.

As for what could happen if it wasn't delivered. I'm not a lawyer nor Canadian. But, assuming it can't be delivered because they can't find you, how exactly would they find you after they open it and find drugs. Address tracked? If it was a valid address in their system, your package would arrive. Sheesh... Sorry I'm salty today, but most of this you could have worked through yourself.
