I live at an apartment. I placed several orders on the DNM recently. Today I came home to a notice on my door telling me a package had arrived and that I needed to go to the office with my ID for verification purposes to get it.
The thing is, I got all my DNM packages already. They're all accounted for. And, I have some Amazon packages that were supposed to have been delivered today. It's just that asking for my ID is strange. They haven't done that before. On the other hand, my apartment just got purchased by a new company, so it's entirely possible this is some new policy. The old management used to put these notices in our mailbox, the new management said they don't do that because it the mailboxes belong to the USPS and it isn't legal.
I've never heard of LE letting a legitimate package through and then staging a fake package to get a warrant. That just doesn't make sense. None of the oddities here are unexplainable, but I did just buy a lot of drugs and my apartment is very dirty, so I'm looking to be extra careful. I don't want to spend this weekend in jail.
I don't think the police are likely to coordinate a sting operation with the front office of your apartment complex.
