You should have titled this post "Canadian fentanyl vendor goes to court after being raided Aug 10th, 2017 and found with 120g fentanyl and two guns". It would have resulted in many more upvotes, lots more visibility.

Kelowna police announced the completion “one of the most significant” fentanyl busts in Canada in October, but charges have yet to be laid against the two people who were busted.

On Oct. 5, 2017, police told the public about an Aug. 10 raid on a downtown Kelowna business and a Black Mountain home that netted 120 grams of suspected fentanyl or carfentanil, along with two firearms.

“As many as 25 packages suspected of containing fentanyl or carfentanil, destined for Canadian, American, European and Australian cities, were intercepted by authorities,” Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey said in October.

Police said a 35-year-old Kelowna man and a 28-year-old Kelowna woman were arrested and faced “potential charges” in connection with the alleged dark web fentanyl trafficking operation. The raid had been the product of an 11-month investigation.

On Wednesday, James Nelson and Cassie Bonthoux appeared in Kelowna court to hear an application by the RCMP to hold onto seized computers, phones and vehicles until June, while they continue their investigation into the drug trafficking network.

Nelson and Bonthoux has yet to be charged, more than four months after the raids took place. They remain out of custody.

The Public Prosecution Service of Canada said they have "no information to give" about why charges have yet to be laid.

On Wednesday, Nelson objected to the continued seizure of the couple's BMW and 2014 Jeep, telling Justice Cathie Heinrichs that he is still paying monthly payments on the vehicles, but can't use them.

Const. Jason Chung told Justice Heinrichs they were holding the vehicles while they waited to see if the Crown was moving forward with a “proceeds of crime” criminal forfeiture of the vehicles.

Justice Heinrichs granted the application to extend the time the RCMP could hold onto the seized evidence, due to the complexity of the case.

Bonthoux owns the Duke & Duchess clothing store in downtown Kelowna on Pandosy Street. In May, she spoke with Castanet after her store had been robbed several times in the last few years.

The clothing store has been closed for several weeks.
