I mean sure there are some cheap little brass knuckles or whatever that you can find on some markets. But if it's like a gun or some poison or something, people always get arrested.
How come buying guns/weapons/etc online always ends up in arrests? I've never heard of someone being successful.

The darknet really affords very little security to buyers except when there's visible sales volume. Drug buyers can be certain that they are not sending their addresses to police because hundreds or even thousands of other people who gave their address got drugs. The market for guns and poisons is so small that LE can put a posting up with minimal fake feedback and literally bust the first person to come along.
Also, most buyers are in the US, and it's tremendously easy to buy guns here without the darknet. We're completely awash in them, and even if you're legally barred from owning one it is much easier to get one illicitly in person than to trust an anonymous internet seller charging much much more.
The places that have a larger black market for guns are almost invariably difficult to ship to and are served by smugglers working routes from russia or the middle east or whatever, not darknet internet vendors.
Poisons aren't common because their only use is murder and most people are decent and thankfully not into that.
Sorry to go on so much but the media always associates the darknet with weapon smuggling despite the fact that it accounts for almost none of the commercial activity there and for the reasons outlined above never will.

If you know where to actually buy guns or poisons, etc online, you don't tell people in reddit about it. I'd imagine it exists but is a fairly private community.

You think???? See story below.....
[3 Points] OPSECmistake1818:
why risk buying a gun on the darknet when you can legally finish an 80% build in an hour or less.
[3 Points] diclazpg:
Because, while the DEA may not have a lot of incentive to bust small-time buyers, the ATF ABSOLUTELY does.

Maybe people don't want to mention it, also, I think a gun is a hell of a lot easier to spot on an xray machine than a triple vacuum sealed bag of coke or whatever

What kind of response are you expecting?
[2 Points] UndefinedExperience:
Well for starters, someone with access to weapons like that who isn't just selling their own personal shit (or isn't LE using a fake account) would have enough IRL clientele they wouldn't need to go online no matter how much they could charge.
Second, anybody who isn't a complete retard and knows anything about anything could see very easily why this is a completely stupid idea buying or selling guns through the mail.
So that would be why everyone you've seen or heard of has been arrested. They either bought from LE or they were both, too stupid too know any better.
[2 Points] whoahdudefuck:
probably same reason trying to buy anthrax or five kilos of coke would, because its worht it to the gov to pose as a seller in those cases
[1 Points] 100x100ug:
Because most users know that buying guns online is what leads to your arrest in the large majority of deals, so they simply don't buy them, and when they do: arrested.

I'd like to think most people that surf the DNMs aren't stupid assholes. If you're going that route to buy a gun, it's almost assured you're buying it for some nefarious purpose and don't want it to be tracked. Like /u/DAREtogethigh said, buy acid not weapons.

I have never shot a gun, I'm not even legally allowed to buy a gun without appealing a mental restriction placed on me. I think if I wanted to I should be able to buy a gun to protect my family. Like I would rather take a possession of illegal firearm charge over my kid getting shot ?
Not saying I plan on getting a gun, my motives are not nefarious the gun would be meant to kill someone just like it was designed to do. My uncle was almost killed when people came to rob him of his drugs and he didn't have a gun.
My friend was getting jacked for presumably his drugs and cash and ended up shooting the jackers with his 22 and shot the their car as it sped away. The police found the car with bullet holes in the hospital parking lot where dude was found inside and dead. My friend didn't anytime for killing someone who tried to rob him for his drugs and is probably alive today because of his gun.
I'm not using that story to justify a gun just saying guns are made to kill people and just because your buying a gun on the dnm doesn't mean you are going to use to go rob and murder motherfuckers. Someone like me who can't purchase a gun that would still want to protect his family might want one, or that gangster needs one for a drive by.
Either way buying a gun on dnm seems sketchy and I would rather just appeal my restriction legally than take a chance buying a gun on the dnm, can't people three-d print guns now anyways ?
[1 Points] Nano-Bunny:
Unless you are a felon or have some issue that would prevent you from purchasing a gun legally there really is no legit reason to buy an illegal gun of the DNM.
I can understand wanting a specific gun that either isn't legal or has been changed for the civilian version, to some extent at least. However, there are many legal ways to go about modifying a legal gun to have the features you want. Sure it makes the gun illegal most of the time but it's much harder to get caught when you do it that way.
The only other reason for wanting a DNM gun, that I can think of, is so that the serial number isn't tied to you directly, in which case you are probably buying the gun to commit some crime. If you want a gun that isn't traceable to you there are many non DNM ways to acquire one that is significantly lower risk to you.
I'm sure there are some other reasons I'm not thinking of at the moment but the above is just what comes to mind off the top of my head. Buying guns off the DNM just seems dumb to me.
Maybe because those who successfully bought weapons or poison don't want to tell "everyone" about it.....
