In the past, I've written "return to sender" on the box and waited a few hours to open the package. Now I'm starting to think that step is useless. Is it safe to open the package once its in your hands at home?
After a package is delivered and inside your house, is it 100% safe to open?

I've heard stories of some larger CD's including a tracker inside the box to alert once it is opened.
I suppose in that instance it MIGHT do something? But they probably already have a warrant at that point and will search the rest of your house anyway.
It's not necessary unless you're heavily convinced it was a CD. In which case you probably wouldn't have the time to write return to sender on it.

Nope.

From the section Controlled Deliveries:
In addition to preparing the anticipatory search warrant, investigators may consider placing an electronic alarm device within the suspect parcel. This court-ordered tracking device emits a tone once placed inside the parcel. When the recipient opens the parcel, the device emits a tone that alerts investigators that the parcel has been opened.

That can only help you if you have a completely clean house other than that package. Otherwise, they already have a warrant and when they perform their search you will get fucked on the other stuff in your house.
The second you click "Buy", everything is completely out of your hands. All you can do at that point is make sure you never say anything and have a clean house. Everything else is out of your hands.

depends on how bulk u are buying... i actually, do something similar to urs but a little further... i take the package inside, write return to sender on it. wait an hour or so and then place it in the microwave for a total of 1 second....(paranoid of devices) before i open it. product is fine, 1 second isnt really long enough to do any actual damage to the product. but if theres a metal device in there, its fuuuuucked

LoL If you're inside your house take a look outside the window. Nothing strange going on outside and you should be fine. I used to do the RTS thing but seriously doubt it helps in any real bust situation since they would already know what was in the package.

Op don't open it. It is actually a bomb that detonates when you open it. Send it to me I'll defuse it safely for you. No need to thank me

I usually very carfully remove my gear from the package and extract my gear. Rewrap it just as it had been delivered and leave it by the door with "return to sender" for a couple days.
I've always just taken my packages inside and oepned em before disposing of the mailer, but that's just me. If it were a larger order I could see that being reassuring though.
