UK Royal Mail crackdown and possibly customs

If anyone from the UK s experiencing delays i point you to this post from plutopete

Royal mail have had to start checking internal as well as outgoing mail to comply with international regulation on transporting dangerous goods, it's not a crackdown on drugs :) Their dangerous goods department is in the north of england but if a parcel is flagged by a scanner it is shipped to Belfast to be opened and checked, apparently the Returned Mail centre is the only place they're allowed to open packages. They destroyed a few of my stash cans thinking they were aerosols, but they've promised to alert their staff now so it doesn't happen again. The most annoying thing is that they just destroy the goods without giving any means of appeal or compensation, just a letter saying they've destroyed your parcel and not to post any more dangerous goods.

Having a little poke around in the shipping section of the forums reveals a higher number of people are having packages intercepted (or there could just be more people speaking up about it) and some have had their letters hole punched or cut and probably swabbed

i do not endorse silkroad in the slightest however the forums are most insightful

God damn it. Vendors have to be stepping up their stealth now unfortunately. Just legalize and regulate already UK, you're wasting my damn tax money. -_-

The new rules that came into place make the post office HAVE to ask you what is in your package, so it can be correctly labelled. They are not all of a sudden inputting huge amounts of money to stop the flow of drugs internally and externally (rarely happens anyway), they do these kind of operations for maybe a few times a year, the Royal Mail just got sold off and privatized, they do not have the money for this.

Domestic? Nothing has changed.

I'm sure they do this kind of activity for a month or two at a time. I seem to remember there being similar crackdowns on international packages during "busy" times such as before summer and new year. This will be a data gathering exercise at the end of the day and anyone caught is purely unlucky.

Where's plutopete now?

That's a royal pain in the ass.

It seems without an escrow service all SR is now is a hosting service for vendors. If you keep no money in your on site wallet than I'm not sure what the big risk of using the sit is.

say you're shipping drugs then, stop being a bunch of pussies and just fucking admit it
