Hey all,
I am pretty new to this whole operation. I like the idea of searching anonymously and things like that. I have the TOR browser installed on my windows machine, but I do not trust windows. I really want to run TOR on Linux. The problem is that my network driver is not compatible with Linux. I installed virtual box and have been running tor through it and Ubuntu.
My main question is, how is internet traffic funneled through the virtual box. ? Is this less anonymous than strictly using TOR on windows? Would this be more discrete?
Finally, I am looking for a simple network traffic encryption software. Do you have any suggestions?
Using Virtualbox doesn't make it less anonymous. In fact it offers another layer of protection. If an adversary attacks your Tor browser then they will only be able to access the virtual machine, but not the host OS. Though there may be exploits which may enable them to break out of the virtual machine.
A simple network traffic encryption software is SSH (using a SSH tunnel).
