How does a PO box protect from searches?

People have said if you live with others, to not put them in danger and order to a PO box. If the sale is intercepted however, will they not have enough suspicion to show up with a warrant and search whatever house you live in which results in roommates paraphernalia and drugs being confiscated?

I can only see this helping by showing that the others had no clue what was going on, but I feel they could claim ignorance to the packages anyways in case of CD or warrant as long as it's not opened right away.

What am I missing?

That's actually a good point.

The advice to get a post office box is a matter of courtesy, but if the drugs get brought to the house and the house is searched it goes out the window. However, the "drama" can happen at home without any LE involvement - an unsuspecting roommate could one day discover that another household member is getting drugs shipped in and become really upset having the entire household put at risk. The laws surrounding executing search warrants in shared homes is confusing at best. Without an attorney here explaining the finer details of what areas may be excluded or included in the scope of a search, the safest assumption is "everywhere."

Lots of the logic tossed around about mail and delivery precautions don't really stand up to scrutiny. Signing/not signing is a huge battle around here, but the end result is there's not a foolproof way to get drugs in the mail, period. You can still get caught even without signing, and there's no proof signing for a package absolutely means the recipient knew what was in the envelope when they did sign. The best anyone can do is take as many precautions as they can and exercise critical thinking instead of robotically following every suggestion they read online.

You need to learn how a search warrant is obtained.
