Do these new tumblers mean someone could send bitcoins straight from Circle to their deposit address without using Helix or anything else? I make pretty large orders so I wouldn't mind saving the 0.25% or whatever it is.

AB's new tumbler system is a lot better at evading whatever circle uses to detect but still safer to send to intermediary wallet. No real need to tumble because circle's detection mechanisms include a time component. Best to send to any intermediary wallet (I recommend Mycelium + Orbot), waiting until the next day to send to darkmarket wallets
If you use localbitcoins you shouldn't need to tumble.
