Advice is greatly appreciated

Appreciate everyones advice, I decided to just go in and pay, had no issues and got package. will open it a bit later.

I'm glad I was a bit cautious, it's always good to be vigilant.

This has come up before. I understand this is normal procedure under certain circumstances. What was the size of the package?

a fee to pay

Sounds really sketchy.. I don't know man.

youll get mixed answers but personally id just ditch it and maybe the vendor can offer a reship because he did not include proper postage or he declared the item and you have to pay tax on it. shoudl have been listed as a gift.

Oh, I've had this with clearnet (Amazon) packages from Canada/US a million times. I'm going to assume its something to do with what the vendor put on the customs label and the price he put of the value of the items... But I'm not absolutely certain of that, I'm just guessing. It's a fairly low amount, I think about £18 the last time I had one and outside of the EU that includes the postage cost.

There's usually a Royal Mail "handling" charge of like £8 and then whatever the VAT is. I'm guessing you wasn't home when it arrived? Because the times I've had it when I've been home, the postman just asked for the money there and then before he handed it over. I only got the card if I wasn't home.

You can pay online.

If they'd opened it, I doubt they'd be bothered with this. You'd just receive a love letter saying it'd been seized and that'd be the end of it. Controlled deliveries aren't really a thing here.

Message the seller and ask what he put on the customs label. Personally, I would just pay it.

i've had to pay extra postage before and on anything listed as over $40 (in my case it was a american bong) i had to pay a customs charge on so it depends what the vendor has listed the worth as - i think i would have left it if it was a dnm package but now i know i might pay it. However it could be a method of making you complicit in the crime i suppose so at the end of the day weigh it up and the decision is yours

The reload cards sir. The actual things you use to reload the debit cards. Not the debit cards themselves.
