BlackBank Service Under DDOS

BlackBank is currently under DDOS. We have gone into maintenance mode and the auto-finalize dates will extend for the period we are offline.

If there are any questions or feedback, please feel free to contact us at any time or share in the forums.

Yes instead of paying off ddoser give support to https://blog.torproject.org/blog/interview-tor-summer-privacy-student-donncha-ocearbhaill

This is the end of ddos against well funded and organized markets.

This sort of shit happens the day after I order every time without fail I swear haha

the fact that it's so many markets at once worries me just a bit. if it was just one or two, sure, no big deal, I'd say it was some blackhat trying to extort them. but the last time I remember a bunch of sites being DDOS'd simultaneously was Operation Onymous. alphabet agencies shut down SR2 exactly a year after it went up...can't speak for all sites but I know BB and Agora have both been up well over a year. rather than simply shut them down though, LE could be attempting to redirect traffic to network nodes they control, effectively deanonymizing anyone using. just a thought though. I'm not even that spun, either.

the million dollar question ...has there been any 'ransom' demanded?

[12 Points] _TROLL:

Looks like Agora might be getting DDOSed as well, the site has had an abnormal pattern over the past few hours where you could log on for 1 minute, then suddenly site is dead, but 2 or 3 page refreshes and it would work again. Another 2 clicks and it would be dead. Repeat as needed.

I know "site is always down", etc, but it's normally prolonged periods, not 10-second bursts of uptime/downtime.

Oh. my. goodness!

I have Magic Trip Doge Glasses to sell! This is disastrous. Whoever is doing this, if you are reading now, you know not what you do. How many people's lives will go unchanged for critical minutes and hours? Intolerable. For all the parties involved I have some questions.

I am trying to hurriedly cobble together an account on Middle Earth Marketplace to serve you fine people in the interim. But I'm going to have to try to get them to waive the vendor fee as I have a lot tied up in magic glasses at the moment...

What kind of asshole DDOS's these sites?!

[2 Points] terraculon:

De-anonymizing attack mayhaps?

[2 Points] Febbraio2468:

DDOS Sale! Buy my Reagent Tests at Agora and BlackBank! :)

[2 Points] opiatethrowy:

I have 100% confidence in MDParity in his ability to stop these attacks.... Hes the only admin running a market these days that doesnt seem like a complete idiot.

[2 Points] AgoraRises:

I bet one of the newer markets is behind this probably The real deal market

[1 Points] dsotcatrosr:

Any ballpark estimate of how long maintenance mode will be to stave off attack? (i.e. based upon previous DDOS-ing of other markets, sorry I don't follow the threads all too closely until all the DNMs go down!) Days, weeks, months, say goodbye to BTC forever??

[1 Points] radium_fire:

It's up, I was able to withdraw my coin off both my accounts. It's a million times faster than it was yesterday too.

I have filed a dispute against vendor ClarKent, who is exit scamming everyone who purchases from him the last week. How long will it take to resolve dispute?

Sorry to everyone for the inconvenience

[1 Points] ThrowawayTehGay:

I was just able to log in, finalize a purchase, leave feedback, etc. I'm not going to try depositing any time soon though. :P This is a good reminder to record the vendor public key and shared wallet address whenever using multisig. If the site goes down, you'll be scrambling to dig all that info up to finalize outside the market. At least, you'd better be - vendors deserve their coin.

[1 Points] iwannabeadnmmod:

My coins just went thru. Looks to be working.

[1 Points] glavnogo-inzhenera:

/u/silkroadreloaded was saying he was going to do it last week. I wonder if it's him?

[1 Points] DexOyama:

Is blackbank still down I cant seem to access it ? I dont know if its just dex that is having this issue was just curious. Any news on it would be nice

[1 Points] thed00der:

Could someone better explain to me how a tor DDoS works?

Are they connecting to multiple exit/enter relays and then just blasting traffic through them that is directed to BB?

I'm curious, because I run an 40mbit/40mbit exit relay, and the bandwidth usage has been higher than normal (I run with "standard" ports only, no bittorrent or other shit like that can enter through my node).

I noticed with the BB DDoS, my normal tor b/w usage of 150-500KB (bit K, kiloBYTES) has now jumped up to about 1megaBYTE/second easily.

That's still only a bit under 1/3rd of my total link for tor (40mbits = 40/8 = 5megaBYTES/second is what I can sustain both ways), but I think I see what is happening.

Someone more versed in tor, please enlighten me.

Thanks.

[1 Points] thed00der:

Another thought - cloudflare offers DDoS protection for regular internet sites that seems to work extremely well. They handled like a 2 TB/second DDoS attack last yet and the site in question was still up.

Cloudflare should work on DDoS mitigation techniques for tor hidden sites.

They don't get to know the location of the server or anything, but I bet they could figure something out.

Such as spin up ALOT of tor enter/exit relays that have crazy high badwidth. Then monitor the traffic. If the traffic shoots through the roof like my node has been, start looking at who is connecting and firewall them off if they are sucking huge amounts of bandwidth.

Then allow the fat pipes for legit uses.

Cloudflare is pretty cool to stop DDoS script kiddies in their tracks, and I think this should be the next 'service' they offer.

I can get through after like 20 refreshes.. is it unsafe to deposit coins? Are deposits possible during "maintenance mode?"

[0 Points] hacks4what:

I have nothing to do with this.

[0 Points] daper27:

So depositing now would be a bad idea?!
