More Subreddit Changes

blahblahblah upvote for visibility

As this subreddit grows we need to control the types of posts submitted here. reddit isn't your typical forum-based community, there are no subforums where content can be filed away in their respective category. Flairing posts only gets us so far and is an imperfect solution. Every post, given a enough upvotes, is displayed on the front page. This creates multiple problems of actual information being drowned out by shitposts and trolls. So the following additions to the rules will be happening shortly.

No soapboxing

This subreddit is not a platform for anyone to blackmail or extort a market or vendor. Take that to the market subreddit, the market forums, or directly to the party involved. Any submissions or comments regarding blackmailing or extorting a market or vendor will be removed without warning and the user banned permanently. Not much else to say here, we should not be the ones handling this.

Possible issues

We want the community to be aware of all possible issues so they can make personal decisions based on that. However, it's far too common for a user to submit a thread regarding a possible issue with the sole purpose of damaging a market or vendor reputation. This is not fair to them, as with the growing popularity of this subreddit many users will see this and make a possible decision when there was really no concern. However we realize that situations aren't always black and white, proof may not always be able to be posted. Going forward all submissions without a hint of legitimate evidence will be flaired as "FUD", submissions that have a shred of evidence will be flaired as "Speculation", and submissions with verifiable proof will be flaired as "Scam warning". These flairs may change as a situation evolves.

While we always try to use our best judgement regarding these situations, please realize that we are human and we're not always right. You should also be using your own judgement regarding these threads and not rely on others to think for you.

Toxic Trolling

We're constantly getting new users, growing more and more every single day. Going forward any toxic troll posts that make the front page will be removed without warning, and the user banned permanently. We will also (maybe) have a system in the nearish future where any account under a certain age and with a certain amount of negative comment karma will be barred from posting. This also applies to the unwarranted moderator hate. If you have a serious issue with a moderator, PM another one. If it can't be solved that way then create a thread, or even PM a non-moderator you trust that has a presence on this subreddit. Accusing the current moderators of being shills and scammers is all too popular now, it creates even more stress than we already deal with, and more often than not they're baseless accusations with the singular purpose of creating drama.

These new changes aren't set in stone, and will change as we see fit. Suggestions to improve these rules and current rules are always welcome as well.

Another thing that I haven't brought up with the current moderator team is transparency. We want to remain accountable for our actions, and I believe we should be doing everything possible to remain so. There are ways to make moderator actions like thread removal, user bans, and comment removal public for the community to see and possibly even comment on. I think this will be nothing but a benefit to the community, and I will be looking into it in the coming weeks.

Edit: Changed trolling to toxic trolling.

As this is posted the top post is a troll. Its a good one. I would hate things like this and Democratic People's Republic of Korea Dark Market to go away. It is a great way to reduce stress.

[14 Points] GrandWizardsLair:

You can tell these are sound rule changes. Look at all the whining about censorship and bribery. The trolls are terrified that they might be ignored in /r/darknetmarkets like they are everywhere else in their pathetic and miserable lives.

The Grand Wizard also notes that this would put a real crimp in the kind of social engineering extortion favored by the hacks4attention crew. Sure, you can post a dozen threads trying to smear an admin and drive away sales. But if those threads disappear into the aethyr right after you post them they're useless. And that may well explain some of the most rabid complainants.

[5 Points] theevoinsider:

Speaking of transparency I missed the thread where you said igetdankshit was to mod again, why you came to that decision and thoroughly explained why he was demodded in the first place, no hate

Also why you gone back to is_my_OPSEC

[5 Points] None:

Mod team should let me moderate joke posts only with the only criteria for what passes and what doesn't pretty much being whether I think it's edgy or not.

Also, from what happens everywhere else on reddit, what is happening here, and what you stated in your first paragraph, it sounds like reddit is just a shit forum site that got popular running their site in a way that appeases the lowest common denominator of user while not actually facilitating the showcasing of quality content and turning the spotlight away from shit content.

I still say we need to make the noobs sub more advertised. There's literally a post everyday saying "how do I buy drugs online?" It has gotten out of hand since the layout changed.

[2 Points] youtakesally:

What about reviews where users haven't tested the product? We need to get rid of those.

[2 Points] None:

And there goes the drama. Time to lay down the popcorn everyone.

[2 Points] De_Quincey:

"Accusing the current moderators of being shills and scammers is all too popular now, it creates even more stress than we already deal with, and more often than not they're baseless accusations..."

'More often than not'? 49% of the time, accusations that the mods are shills and scammers are correct?

Surely that's not what you meant to say. Shilling and scamming by the mods must be zero. And it has been. With the exception of the one recent mod who went nuts, modding on this sub has been done well. Ignore all the comments by cranks. You guys are doing a good job. This new policy is a good step forward, towards sanity.

Just -- bring back Bailey Jay, please? I don't swing that way, but Bailey is part of /r/darknetmarkets creation myth.

[2 Points] octomarvel:

Keep on keeping on mods. Sometimes there's a fine line between information and entertainment and you guys invariably hold up the line we all balance on.

With that said, more info, less bs.

People need to stop taking this place for granted.

The same people that run down this sub now, are the same ones that come here to find out what's going on with their markets when things go wrong.

Take the fud to /r/apocalypse and the trolls to /r/cringe. Appreciate wtf this place is and it's primary function.

IT AINT HARD.

[1 Points] Baraclough-X:

The AutoMod needs a serious overhaul. Can you implement a feature that will enable established users to alter their own posts if they violate some obscure flag in the AutoMod settings?

[1 Points] andblowyourhousedown:

I just want to say I deeply appreciate all the hard work that you, the mods, do for the good of this subreddit and the community at large. Keep it up lads.

[2 Points] UDNM:

"not rely on others to think for you" So maybe you shouldn't flair the posts and just let people think for themselves?

We're constantly getting new users, growing more and more every single day. Going forward any troll posts that make the front page will be removed without warning, and the user banned permanently.

So you're telling the community, "Fuck you, we don't care what you want and fuck reddit's voting system that lets the community decide the visibility of posts."

A lot of these rules seem a bit vague, don't they? You've pretty much given yourself license to delete shit at your own discretion.

Another thing that I haven't brought up with the current moderator team is transparency. We want to remain accountable for our actions, and I believe we should be doing everything possible to remain so.

LOL, I don't see how any of the mods can be taken seriously when it comes to transparency anymore.

[1 Points] EmmaGoldmenco0p:

This is the best thing to happen to this sub reddit in about 2 1/2 to 3 years . It really was becoming like Fox News around here about bunch of useless chatter of fear mongering , bull ish , pointless attacks , and revenge . Glad to see this place shape up , its really a breath of fresh air

[1 Points] sexystick:

banning on a first offense sounds too harsh. first warning system would work just as well once the rules are officially posted.

[1 Points] The_Grid_Is_Up:

Well this went off the rails fairly predictably.

[1 Points] Structure3:

Can we possibly make this sub private? Or at least stop people from linking to here in like askreddit threads or somethinf?

More people here, the worse all this stuff is gonna get. And the more attention to PD's we'll get, too.

[1 Points] sillysally11:

Apparently my suggestions are not welcome.........

[0 Points] vostos:

Cool.

[0 Points] itsathr0wawayduh:

I've seen posts like these before, usually by politicians looking to harness more power. Regulation doesn't work for drugs and it sure as hell won't work for an anonymous forum. The only thing that can benefit the community is absolute transparency. Soapboxing? Possible Issues? Trolling? This is the internet for fuck sake. We're all free thinking adults and nobody needs to be sheltered from anything. Sensitive people's morals should not trump those that can handle it.

If people can't bare to see offending text with their precious eyes, then a win-win solution could be a Greasemonkey script to easily filter bad posts for users who CHOOSE to use it, and not compromise others viewing experience.

[0 Points] bobbiggs69:

Get ready guys. If you aren't one of those clowns that kisses the mods' ass then you're going to get banned.

The times they are a'changin...

[-1 Points] cockmangleraway:

so basically

don't talk bad about any markets (that are paying) and regardless of if you do....

you can delete anything we post anyway if it doesn't fit the narrative.

got it.

[-2 Points] cockmangleraway:

reddit isn't your typical forum-based community, there are no subforums

huh?

[-2 Points] asdff1f1f1f1f1:

Hhaha, so you shadowban my post then everyone just comes in and agrees with it.

You made rules so vague that you can use them to remove posts at your discretion. Mods have already admitted they don't have the manpower to actually enforce these rules so they will just be used to remove posts that you personally don't like. Which will obviously lead to abuse.

Just let reddit's system to hide shit posts work.

You were not voted in, you got in through neopotism, you are creating an old boys club who gets to decide what posts to delete. Thereby controlling the community. You are making it very easy to abuse power weather you are getting paid to or not.

[-4 Points] leatherbelt69:

The wishlist of a drug fueled simpleton.

Is there an actual point to this? Where are changes?

[-5 Points] 1293i19kd91:

Cool so you made some rules you can selectively enforce to satisfy your own personal agenda.

There is no way you can consistently enforce these rules because the mods admit they dont have the man power, so you will end up only using them for your own ends.

You weren't voted in, you got in through nepotism so you are creating an old boys club that decides the fate on the community, great job guys.

[-5 Points] ExperiencedFestDealr:

really? This is what you have been "working" on? I assume you are a US citizen ... because you are just like most of us... fucking useless. really? you actually talked about how you "worked" on this..and THIS is what you present to the world? Sad. What a waste of time.

[-8 Points] LittleNiggerBaby4:

Fuck you

[-9 Points] ExperiencedFestDealr:

this is the gayest thing i have seen posted here, gayer than bailey jay pulling her cock out and putting it in MLP's mouth. What a waste of time and I had such high hopes for you.

DILDO.
