Not Just Another "OMG USPS Pink Slip!" Thread

I've seen a lot of these threads about people being scared that they received the dreaded pink slip and have to go to the PO to pick up the item in person. I have received several over the years, but all for clearnet packages. Today I noticed something very strange and would like your advice. My DNM domestic order is a day or two late. I received a pink slip saying extra postage is due, to my home adress. Well, the order was being sent to my PO Box, not my home address. I checked the tracking on the pink slip and it shows the regular things like, acceptance, sorting complete, arrived at unit, blah blah. Here's the weird part, the city on the far right of that tracking shows my city from the start. In the middle of the tracking details it finally shows a city within an hour from here then back to my city. This tracking info looks very sketchy to me. I know the vendor does not ship from my city. I'm expecting another clearnet package but it is First Class mail so they don't require any signature or anything like that and would have just dropped it off. Anyone dealt with this? Thanks

Tracking Example:

Delivered My City Out for Delivery My City Arrived at Hub Nearby City Left Sorting My City Acceptance My City

I'm going to chime in here. I've had some packs with some ridiculous shipping updates/situations that definitely caused me to lose sleep.

  1. No sig req doesn't just mean they'll always leave it. They could hold it for size reasons, weather, people loitering, really anything. The UPS guy could have hurt himself on the job and just called it a day and left the slip. I've had this happen once before. I picked up the pack at the PO myself, but was too chickenshitscared to ask why it wasn't left in my box.
  2. Origin changing. I had this happen several times with a DrX pack that took 25 days or so to reach me. DrX reshipped and I received the second pack within those 25 days. The original pack went out for delivery on day 24 and was marked as "Unable to be delivered". I was scared as fuck when it showed up on day 25.
  3. Lastly, go with your gut man. You shouldn't be spending money you can't afford to lose. So, if you have to throw in the towel to keep your freedom, then fucking do it. Go with your gut.

If you reallllllly need that pack, and your gut says no... find a runner.

Give back to the community. Find a homeless man. Get him a haircut. Give him some clean clothes (bought in advance). Take him to lunch. Snag the pack. Pay the man.

PM me if you need to.

I have zero experience with DNM so far, but the tracking info is really sketchy...especially if they're asking for extra postage to deliver to your house when you specified your PO box...I'd be willing to bet that it's a trap.

Edit: Yea, no, because common sense is totally worth downvoting. I voiced my opinion and what I would assume, if I'm wrong please explain how.

Can you ask the vendor to provide tracking or maybe confirm that the last 4 digits match? It could be for an entirely different pack or letter. And you could ask if they sent from your city too. Could the clearnet package be the one lacking enough postage? Or honestly could be something entirely different.

I guess I'm saying don't jump to conclusions. You are getting something to a different address. While obviously Le can look up who owns the PO box would they make you suspicious by delivering it to a different address? I'm voting that this is something unrelated to your DNM package.

USPS recently updated their tracking and website, its been really wonky ever since.

However what you are describing, happens with any dhl or fedex smartpost, they scan as shipped from my city. Which of course they do not ship from my city. But the USPS delivers them on the final leg, they turn up at the post office in my city around 10 in the morning.

I would say this is a clearnet ebay or amazon pack.. I suspect this package may not be the dnm one?

UPDATE: So I checked my PO Box yesterday evening and my DNM pack was there. Vendor replied and said tracking showed "Unable to Deliver" or something along those lines on Saturday, to a PO Box???? Anyways, I've cleaned house and am going to lay low for a few days. I feel like if this was a CD situation they would've either A. staked out the PO and waited for me to get the pack or B: arrived at my home address and have a knock and talk.

I know there's a lot of FUD in this game and I hope I didn't spread any. My situation was very odd so I wanted to voice it. Everyone stay safe out there and happy holidays.

If you decide to pick it up - Clean house and you were expecting a normal package. The situation given does sound a bit sketch. Why wasn't it delivered to your PO.

I can assure you if the cops were gonna CD you on your pack they wouldn't give you any warning or signs of things like this.... Why do people think when your busted and they take over that all of a sudden you can tell there's a glitch in the matrix and to run?

Never heard of someone receiving a package paying for postage. Standard practice is to return to sender and stamp it insufficient postage. Are you sure you didn't send a package and forget? That's the only way I can think of the tracking would show it originated from you.
