So previously I mentioned that I would be offering up some Monero as a prize for the CSS contest. I have since moved said funds into their own wallet at a grand total of 5.45182744 XMR which is about $70 USD. Hopefully this will kick start something great while as you can definitely buy some nice goodies with this amount!
To verify I have the funds you can set up a view only wallet, it would be nice if some existing Monero enthusiasts/holders could help with this as most people here have little experience with Monero software.
There is some issues with this setup. A view only wallet only allows you to see the balance based on the total amount of received transactions, it does not reflect sent transactions. This means I could've already sent the funds elsewhere, yet the view only wallet will still show the funds as being available. So you're just gunna have to trust me not to move them out because why would I go through all this hassle just to fuck you guys and my own reputation.See Edit
You can start here if you wanna grab the wallet software
From the downloaded Monero folder execute the command below (Thanks to u/JollyMort) to create a view only wallet. (Currently only the command line wallet has this feature)
./monero-wallet-cli --generate-from-view-key CSS --restore-height 1239700 --daemon-host node.moneroworld.com
You'll be prompted for the wallet address: 48iumgHzznzYow8EutPCn6WwFNNzF6DEvSYVBZnFeBxJBTuDjNt97CRZKtJwG8EwtQWfsG8GukrqiANNHv97SwGC8f7nQ6N
Enter the view key: 7f9b1328d3d4b5150d983860c494898324914280bc7e387ee2e9b4a2db999c04
Create a password and after the refresh you're done. You are unable to spend anything with this wallet so strong passwords are not necessary.
For those with an existing node or looking to run your own.
./monero-wallet-cli --generate-from-view-key CSS
Block Height: 1239700
Address: 48iumgHzznzYow8EutPCn6WwFNNzF6DEvSYVBZnFeBxJBTuDjNt97CRZKtJwG8EwtQWfsG8GukrqiANNHv97SwGC8f7nQ6N
View Key: 7f9b1328d3d4b5150d983860c494898324914280bc7e387ee2e9b4a2db999c04
Password:???????
edit: as per u/JollyMort
It's missing one piece to finish the audit. You should run the export_key_images command from your full wallet and upload the file somewhere. Then, the rest of us import the file into watch-only wallet using import_key_images. Without this, we can't know if the funds are still there or if the balance shown is accurate. I will be doing this as soon as I find a good place to upload it (any suggestions appreciated). EDIT: I have used zippyshare for the key image http://www66.zippyshare.com/v/VhmvUab0/file.html but am unsure how I feel about it. Still looking for better suggestions. Move the file into the Monero folder and run this command from your opened wallet
import_key_images tx_keys
and finally.
u/murderhomelesspeople are you just doing this to promote Monero you shilly son of a bitch
Well kindaish? Really I wanted to offer up a cash prize of sorts so we can get some nice CSS. I figured I misewell make it Monero as it's what I prefer to use, but also to increase involvement in the currency while pissing off all the haters and hopefully getting some sweet flair for doing this :). A multi bird with one stone kinda thing. Everything on here is optional if you wish to participate so it shouldn't cause much of a fuss.
Ah, so this is what you wanted to do :) It's missing one piece to finish the audit. You should run the
export_key_images
command from your full wallet and upload the file somewhere. Then, the rest of us import the file into watch-only wallet usingimport_key_images
. With this, we can actually verify if the funds are still there and that the balance shown is accurate. See also: http://monero.stackexchange.com/questions/1283/how-to-prove-my-monero-balance-to-the-world
