Why do I need to sun scripts on this sub?

I can check out lots of subs and I dont need to run scripts to see the actual post of the text.

EXAMPLE: https://pay.reddit.com/r/Jokes/comments/5djtgs/i_accidentally_swallowed_a_handful_of_scrabble/

Of all the sub riddits on reddit this one should be one you dont need to run scripts on.

Fix this mods and if this gets burried I will know why.

Maybe it's something I'm doing but for some reason I dont think so.

fyi we dont own reddit...

As /u/2cblover says, this has nothing to do with us, and we have literally zero official relationship to Reddit the company, its employees, or anything.

Also please keep in mind that the pay.reddit.com domain is deprecated and has been for more than a year. You can just use https://reddit.com or https://www.reddit.com now, and probably should - to avoid issues of this type, no less.

This change is almost definitely related to one or both of two things:

  1. This being an 18+/NSFW subreddit, and/or,

  2. Something in the CSS relating to a user not being subscribed to the sub (since to be subscribed you must be logged in, and to log in you must run scripts). I think this is less likely to be it, but it's possible. A lot of that kind of CSS functionality on Reddit is kind of hacked in and kludgy.

In my own testing, I have reproduced this issue on another 18+ subreddit, but I cannot be sure which of the above factors is in play. If anyone can find an 18+ subreddit that does not have this issue, we (the mods) would be super interested to know about it. Please send us a message to let us know if you find such a thing.

#1 is not fixable in any way (we are not going to remove the 18+ flag from this place), but #2 could be, though probably not by me personally.

Both of these potential causes can be researched by any of you, so I encourage everyone to do some exploring of other subreddits and any CSS wizards among us to look at our stylesheets.

Also relevant is /r/ChangeLog and https://github.com/reddit/reddit which is (most of) the open-source code that powers Reddit. People who know what they're doing should certainly look in those places and try to identify the change that caused this new behavior. Once it's identified we can hassle the admins to fix it, but it would be really obnoxious to do that now before knowing where to direct their attention.

So in other words, you have the power to answer your own question, and I advise everyone here to help do that!
