The Amazon refund trick. DIY or Pay Refunder?

So I have read many stories about SEing Amazon and getting some free stuff. Many success stories but also many stories of it not working, and it seems everytime I see someone saying it didn't work, somebody else posts something like "your best bet is to hire a refunder who knows what they are doing" or "pay an SEr who will get the job done correctly". So really, I mean there must be a better method that these "Professional Refunders/SErs are doing. What are your guys thoughts? I just wander if it's worth getting 80% off of something to guarantee it done "the right way" or if the way everyone is talking about doing it is the only and best way. Any feedback would be appreciated and thank you

I did this for a very expensive piece of electronics a while back. I didn't double dip or anything, as I'm not that greedy. If whatever you're trying to get a refund for is under the value of around $300-$500 and you're a good long standing customer, then the process is a lot easier. Don't bother paying someone to do it for you.

There's a few ways to do it. The simplest is saying via chat or phone: "I never got the package/it was stolen/misdelivered etc" (However, they will usually open up an investigation and it will take a few extra days to get your shit back, this is because the blame in this scenario falls on the shipper, and not on Amazon). The other method is saying you received the item but it was tampered with before you even opened it, and since Amazon is customer-oriented, they will grant a reship or refund almost always. It's always better to blame Amazon rather than the shipper.

PS: You're an asshole for trying to defraud Amazon. They're just trying to have a good customer rep.

I too am an asshole.

DIY. I'll dig up a quick guide and send it through PM.

Do it yourself, get your pack and consider it as if it never arrived after being marked delivered, take every step you would in that real situation and you're golden. They will refund you for definite if you have previous purchases with no issues, it is not worth paying someone to do it, because even if they have experience doing it, your account could be brand-new and therefore they are likely to not be able to get the refund for you and then you are completely out of pocket.
