Should I release escrow when timer is about to run out and I still didn't my package?

I have a few packages coming from Europe and USA.. I'm located in Canada.. sometimes it can take a bit longer than the 14 day escrow timer. I'm wondering when the timer gets really close to auto-finalize should I let it finalize even though I haven't received my package? Or, should I open a dispute to extend the escrow timer? I guess I'm just scared to loose my money in case of a shady vendor or whatever.. Anybody in this predicament before?

No, do not let it auto finalize. Dispute it and extend the timer. Very common scenario esp with international orders.

Don't ever release escrow if you did not get your order (if its not your fault). I normally message the vendor and tell them why I had to open the dispute.
