Does anyone else think the "warrant canary" missing from the transparancy report was a result of gwern's subpoena?

I didn't really understand the meaning of the "missing canary" until I looked into it, but people are speculating it's the result of a classified request for information on a user by the NSA/FBI/etc. Previously, when the canary was still in the transparency report, it was as of January 29, 2015 that no types of these actions had been taken.I figured it was probably when gwern(and there were possibly other users, not sure) were subpoena'd. I'm not positive of the timeframe, but I believe it was following the Evo exit scam; there may have been a few smaller markets busted at that time, too? My memory is a little hazy of last year. Please post your input and let us know what you think

No. Gwern's subpoena wasn't a secret.

The canary died because Reddit can't comment at all about whatever information they were forced to provide. Exact opposite of gwern's situation.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't it presumptive on our part to assume this is related to this sub? There are a lot of subs that have the potential to be of government interest. This isn't the only one. There was a vendor bust too recently where we know they checked Reddit as a user and mentioned fake IDs.

Unless the canary specificly in our mine, it could be related to anything. If the canary is specific to our sub then disregard all of the above

The larger Reddit community is speculating that the Feds came knocking after Snowden did a few AMAs. Makes more sense than Reddit getting an NSL because gwern may or may not have known the Evo admins.

Probably had something to do with a specific investigation that they belive reddit hold pertinent information. I doubt they are getting a blanket subpoena for a sub and investigating every drug fueled rant

[1 Points] solusipses:

Could have also been unrelated to this sub. Snowden did a few ama threads maybe they wanted to look up his access.

It's probably ISIS related. I fairly certain ISIS uses Facebook, Twitter, and Reddit...

Who cares? It either will effect us or it wont. Freaking out about it is pointless and probably has whatever agency did this to be laughing their ass off right now.
