Vendor provided proof of delivery to PO Box, package never received. What to do?

A vendor provided tracking that shows that it was delivered to a PO Box at my post office, but it doesn't show what box. I guess it's possible that it's a scam where he sends a package to another box at my post office, and then provides tracking info that doesn't prove what box it was as proof that the package was sent. I don't know how likely this is.

The question is, if the tracking shows it as delivered, but it wasn't, would you ask the post office about it or let it go? The order was >$300. I'm not sure if this is an indication that my box is now compromised.

Thanks for the help!

.....tracking shows it as delivered, but it wasn't

Actually, in all practical likelihood the parcel was delivered...just not to your mailbox. While it is unlikely you were scammed.... it's almost certain the pkg was simply mis-delivered into the wrong box. It happens frequently and is brought up here for discussion regularly. Unless it gets returned to the PO by whomever it was delivered to...there's pretty much nothing you can do about it. Neither is there anything the PO can really do about it.

I'm not sure if this is an indication that my box is now compromised.

Really? Do yourself a favor and don't even go there. Sometimes....a cigar is just a cigar. Most times, actually.

As a vendor, I find it highly unlikely that another vendor would pull some sort of a scam as you described. Thats alot of effort (well i guess not ALOT, but still) to goto in order to just scam someone, and try and hold up your image as not a scammer. If this repeatedly appened to a vendors customers, then maybe. But more than likely its simply a fuckup somewhere along the line. Wrong box number on the package (whether the customer had a typo in the address provided, or the vendor made a typo on the label), or the post office made a mistake (happens all the time). I have not had this happen specifically to a PO BOX, but have had one customer who said they did not get the package despite it saying delivered. What I usually tell them is to check with any roommates/family/anyone who may live at the address also. Or if anyone knew it was coming and possibly stole it. Obviously, these are irrelevent for a post office box. If you want to be safe you can keep clear of using that box for a while. I would think that if it was a matter of being intercepted or LE knowing about it, it wouldnt just be a missing delivered package. You would of either got a visit, or at the very least a note or letter in the box. So I doubt the box is comprised, more likely just a mistake, but better safe then sorry

there are hundreds—if not thousands—of boxes in a post office. it's highly unlikely that your vendor would have an active/inactive list of boxes at your local PO :/
