Also three other bills introduced which include mandatory treatment, supervised injection sites and I think no more minimum sentencing.

What does 0.0015g of LSD translate to? That's just one tab right?
I've heard of people getting busted with LSD and they take the weight of the paper into account, and people that have been busted with hash cakes and they weigh the whole cake!
EDIT: 0.0015g = 1500ug so 10-15 tabs of LSD. Not a bad amount to be let off with!

The way the bill is being introduced (in response to an overdose epidemic) makes it seem like the bill will be seriously considered. This is as opposed to the long-standing "trashcan" policy drug reform has suffered for so many years.
The people who are helping to introduce this bill have significant credibility, politically, medically and with the law. And finally we have some REAL data (Portugal) to prove that this is the correct and only solution.
According to this 2014 Washington Post article, the people of Maryland are highly democratic and fairly liberal, on average. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for their leaders in the state government.
So undeniably we've come far. But I agree, I don't think the bill will make it this time. Every year we're getting closer and closer. We just need the geezers in Annapolis to die off/retire already and one day this will happen.
I can't wait to see where this goes. Once the transcripts come out for it's hearing we should post them on this sub.

Now there's a state that would save itself a lot of tax payer money and a lot of time and aggravation if they were to decriminalized drugs.

Isnt this the sate that wanted to extradite Ross after Cali&NY got thru with him...I don't think this bnill will really change anything, but its a good start and a good way to get the conversation on the table.

Man i really hope this comes true, finally the united states starting to make one move in the right direction instead of stacking up bodies in the drug war and sending non violent offenders to prison and literally filling dumpsters full of money and wasting it with this stupid prison system thats loaded with drug addicts. Fingers crossed X

It's a great Idea in theory Unfortunately I don't think the bill will make it very far. But the fact the bill was even introduced is a sign of changing times. Back in the mid 90's the creator of the bill would have been crucified for even thinking about a bill that decriminalized drugs. Lol

cool bill, doubt it will pass as well, but interested in the outcome.

Confession: I totally forgot that Maryland was a state/existed. It's like Montana. No one ever mentions it.
Also slyly push through a bill renaming the state to Mollyland.
