How do pills get caught domestically?

i could understand why pills like molly or xanax got caught if shipped through customs as that might be x-rayed. how do pills get caught domestically if you're buying self-use amount? i know dogs can potentially sniff it, but i highly doubt the usps uses dogs or x-ray on first-class mail.

Profiled packages, accidentally opened packages, poor stealth, and buyers who are already suspected and being watched. Few domestic sort facilities use dogs, so that's doubtful.

It's really just bad luck or a fluke for the most part. I am aware of two cases, both very small amounts. One was ten hydrocodone, one was three oxycontin. So the notion that buying personal amounts of pills is entirely safe, while not ridiculous, is not a sure thing.

Why would ylu highly doubt the use of dogs/x-rays on first class mail? What are you basing that assumption on?

they have started to hire spiders who are able to spin webs that catch all the pills inside a box and then alert them to the presence of drugs

By chance mostly.

I've wondered the same thing and the conclusions I came to were well summed up by Lobali. My conclusion was, albeit not supported by anything concrete and just thinking things through, is that getting a package snagged just from a random inspection or by chance should be pretty rare. If the vendor uses proper stealth, is not being watched or packages profiled, and as long as you, the buyer, is not being watched, then having a problem should be very rare. So this means that your selection of vendor is the most crucial part of the equation. Of course, it could turn out dumb luck that a good vendor you picked suddenly got profiled, but you will never have a 0% risk - all you can do is mitigate the risks you have control over.

I think Lobali is right that personal buyers aren't pursued or are safe/exempt. They aren't. Its more that personal buyers get away with it probably a lot easier than say bulk buyers. If LE has a case, they will make it. I don't think LE will say "Oh this person only ordered 5, so we won't pursue." To LE a case is a case and if they can score a conviction they will. The exception to the "small buyer being safe" MIGHT be in cases where there is a big take down and they have a lot of info. In that case, having such a bulk of evidence they would allocate resources to vendors and big buyers I'm sure. But outside of that type of instance, the general rule you should live by is that if discovered, you will probably be pursued.
