LE are actually incompetent and always flexing. The only reason they get their busts is due to a combo of opsec failures and a shitton of resources on hand.
That's why after a bust they start saying overarching shit like "y'all ain't as anonymous as you think". They know with correct opsec most people are safe, so they come out with their big lies to try to make us afraid.

I do not use DNM nor do I use drugs I am just a security researcher who came here from a news story... here are my thoughts:
They had access to AB for a while. They just haven't revealed it because of ongoing investigations linked to Hansa and they would prefer not to reveal the methods used to gain access. They want users offguard. That is why the transfer problems people were posting were identical to them controlling hansa. They don't want to reveal the methods used to gain access through a 0day they would like to keep for future use.
They have been using a vulnerability in Tor's hidden directory servers to create mirrors with phishing pages to gather login information etc. This way they never had to break into AB or even find the server location the malicious scripting did the work for them. They only had to point the .onion to another server with a rescripted mirror they controlled. Hence why the Dutch police mentioned having "mirror" servers for hansa running simultaneously. That was technically correct. Hidden directory servers have been the target once they gained control to manipulate they can host any phishing mirrors necessary for gathering logins. Along with all those silly error messages they scripted into failed money transfers, changing passwords and all the other rediculous looking errors reported on reddit from AB to Hansa. Look it up.
In the case manufactured evidence is brought to court it could be a high liability so they do not admit having access to AB but will use information obtained to further Hansa investigation. A guy of Alex's repertoire would not be foolish enough to use a hotmail address during darknet forum setup with his named, linked to his paypal account which was in turn linked to his bank account. The evidence mounted is more than convenient. It was never evidence at all until contracted IT people gained access to manipulate files cutting blame away from officials as contractors are handy for. They never wanted to take a chance like with playpen getting the largest ever DNM cases thrown out.
Then we have the report he was caught with laptop open, unencrypted, logged into AB as admin while simultaneously viewing one textpad not encrypted with every password/login/account conveniently he ever used while also at the same exact time having another open textfile with every single (seizable) asset and money across the world. Just in the same period of days before a certain high ranking politician mentioned using asset seizures conveniently close to the press release of all of this. VERY convenient timing after he is dead don't you think?
He is dead. He cannot personally subpoena the evidence. He cannot refute the "facts" about such a silly email "mistake." But other lawyers will if anyone goes on trial for AB. Hopefully for sake of fair trial for defendants with forensic teams of their own. But you know what? If no one goes to trial for AB then there may never be means to subpoena the server data! What an interesting case don't you think? Why does all this fit? What is being hidden about the AB bust?
Keep in mind this is all theory and speculation.
