How is this hard to understand? Vague and rules you have no manpower to enforce lead to selective enforcement and abuse. Why not just enforce reddit rules and let the community sort out what is visible.

Why do we need you to mark every thread with a tag of the mods opinion if you aren't thinking for us?

It is very easy, don't make vague rules that you have no hopes in actually enforcing because they will get enforced selectively and abused. You don't have the manpower or the will to actually enforce them.

You guys can't be that stupid not not realize that is the consequence of vague unenforceable rules.

Is the the first forum you ever used? This isn't a new concept. Every time this is done mods go crazy with power and control the discussion to the point it is ruined.

This is a subreddit. Reddit is owned by Conde Naste. Sometimes we have to take measures to ensure this place doesn't get shut down.

Personally I think we do a pretty good job considering we are humans after all.

Why do we need all these threads complaining about the mods...

So I guess its an all or nothing approach? If we can't contain 100% b/c of lack of manpower then we shouldn't try so just go without any rules? This shit isn't binary.

If you want an example of rules gone awry, look at the US Tax Code. They've attempted to codify EVERYTHING. Now they have volumes of rules, regulations, etc that take thousands and thousands of man hours to understand. Unfortunatley its unrealistic to codify the rules in such a way that it requires no human interpretation or interaction for a sub.

I do understand that uneven appliaction of the rules can lead to frustration and anger. There are instances where posts are borderline and its tough to determine if the "rules" are being broken. In other cases, its obvious. We try our best to apply the rules in a fair manner. Also, you can always ask about a rule if you are genuinely confused about it.
