[GeneralQuestions]My city has two post offices and I gave an address without the xxxx added in 12345-xxxx. What will happen?

So my city has two pseudo cities, kind of. There are two post offices and each pseudo city has it's own zip code 1 number off from the other. Because of this I though it would be fine to give the vendor my PO box address for the post office in my pseudo city. Well it turns out on the usps website, it lists the two post offices belonging to the some zip code but with different extensions. I did not include an extension for my box to my vendor and am curious if it will come to the box that has the person registered to it, or if it will get returned to sender. Any insight?

you're fine. the extra four digits at the end of the zip code is basically just a routing number and is completely optional to use. it'll still get to where it needs to go, it might just take a day or two longer than if you had included it.

I have almost never received PO box addresses with that extra 4 numbers on the zip code. If you have problems, it's not because of that.

I believe the last four after a US zip code correspond to a high traffic mailed physical building, city block, apartment building, etc. You should be fine.
