Hey, I've been waiting on a domestic order since last Monday. There were two to three days of postal strikes in some offices in my country since then (including federal ones) and I don't know whether my package has been affected. Adding to this, my vendor might have messed up a part of my address (no first name) so I obviously would like to know where my envelope is.
Calling them would mean giving up on my plausible deniability and should they tell me to come pick it up, I could be walking into a CD with no way out, so I know this is a risky move. My alternative would be to simply cut my losses and move on to different vendors. Unfortunately, I FE'd due to good past experiences with the vendor in question.
So my question boils down to whether or not I should call the post office and ask them about any envelopes addressed to only my last name (rest of the address should be right). Or failing that, is it safe to order from someone else? My regular mail is coming through just fine so maybe a different vendor would do the trick.
I've posted this on the Agora sub, but I feel like this place is faster. I'm sorry for spamming my story all over the place and I know I'm partially to blame for naively FE'ing but I would really like to be holding this weekend.
Thanks!
go on ebay, buy something cheap, and put shipping address as only your last name. then call them and say you bought something on ebay that you were expecting to arrive by now but it hasn't shown up, and seller hasn't been helpful at all, and quite frankly you think the guy might just be trying to rip you off. that you are about to file a complaint against the seller with ebay, but before you do just wanted to make sure that it wasnt at the post office. if they say 'A-HA, it is right here you can come pick it up' , just feign relief and thank them profusely, and ask when they close. the answer will be 5 PM, so act disappointed saying youre not off work until after 7. ask if there's anyone there after hours who you could get the package from. if the answer is Yes, you should clean house ASAP. if they say No, just ask if they'll make sure it goes out the next day. include as much unnecessary background information as possible when speaking to the person, such as what the item you ordered is, why you ordered it, why you need it, how you never know if people on ebay are telling the truth in their listings, pretty much just bullshit. you want the person to phase you out. that way if it has managed to make it there but hasn't gone out for delivery, they will correct that without thinking too terribly much about it. oh yeah do all this from a pay phone, too.
I personally wouldn't call though, it will get there when it gets there, if it ever gets there. a few weeks later maybe call and ask, cause you can be fairly sure its not a CD at that point.
