BTC still safe to use?

I have been away from this community for way too long and am looking to get caught back up to speed. I have read time again that monero is the future, but it seems more difficult to acquire right now. So is it the only safe option for dnm purchases at the moment or as a small time buyer, would btc still suffice if I used a tumbler?

Also, my old btc guy got shut down by the govt, so what is the easiest/most anonymous was to buy it currently. Mind you I'm in a pretty rural town. I remember localbitcoin (thought I've always been scared to use out of fear of a scam), liberty X (but there's not one close enough) I definitely do not want to use coinbase unless I absolutely have to. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

localbitcoins, as long as you are not retarded you basically cannot be scammed, buy it through cash deposit (dont even need an account) also to buy 100 worth of btc even if you have to show id, they are not gonna track you to your house and stake you out waiting for your package to arrive with a g of molly

Are you aware of the massive BTC fees? You won't have any money left if you try to tumble BTC lol.

Just be prepared for the transaction fees. Make sure you purchase more than you need and spend it right away in case btc drops again. I had somewhere between $20-$30 in fees on my last transaction.

Personally I would skip the tumbler if you’re a small time buyer. Just get an electrum wallet if you’re buying from a place that has your ID and send there before the market so you don’t get banned (from coinbase for example).

Highly suggest that you stop using Bitcoin for the reason that /u/repressiveanger said. Block Chain Analysis is here. Monero is solving this problem with the next level security. Times are changing and so do our tactics. Besides who wants to pay $20 transaction fees lmfao

You can buy Monero with cash from these websites. Still a newer currency, so the trader selection can be limited. https://moneroforcash.com/ https://localmonero.co/

Not yet released to the public, but another place to keep in mind and to possibly bookmark. https://localxmr.to/

Hope this helps :)

Buy an external wallet. Use local btc and find yourself a good vendor. Send straight to your market wallet. Online wallets should be avoided if u wanna be “anonymous” shit nothis is anon these days bro

Paxful offers many different anonymous methods of acquiring bitcoin (and with the recent dip NOW's the time to buy!) although it's more pricey than Coinbase. I've ultimately said "fuck it" and use Coinbase anyway - sure, I'm ID'd on the outset, but after moving the coins through a few anonymous wallets I've a level of "plausible deniability" that I'm comfortable with. But Monero is, from what I understand, is a far superior privacy coin. Good luck !

I had a fucking dream last night that I was trying to send all of my bitcoins to a new wallet and it just never showed up and I checked the transaction fee and it was set too low! I can't take the stress.

But I haven't noticed a single moment of slowdown or had a single issue. So I don't know what people are talking about. The value did take a dump tho. Which is really bad as the whole point was that it was safe from that specific type of issue related to governments.

Most anon way is fiat to vitual money... virutal MONIES to btc

Localbitcoins, while not the most convenient way ti buy bitcoin, has never put let me down: some vendors on there are very cheap, almost instantly release bitcoin after confirmation of payment and the withdrawal fell is m around $3.

It's a well managed website.

There is a caveat, however. Though I had been using the site for years and had a 100% rating on over a dozen trades, I tried to log on using tor one time and the security system flagged me for renewal. After making the changes that they wanted (2 factor authentication and a new password) apparently I was flagged for additional reviewal, requiring photo id, a selfie and some other bullshit I can't remember.

They eventually cleared my account after 2 weeks of this, but man, that was an ordeal...

Tl;dr the site works great, low fees, often has vendors with low prices and they don't give a rat's ass what you do with your coins when you're done buying. Just don't be an idiot and sign in through tor!

so what is the easiest/most anonymous was to buy it currently

regarding easy (and assuming you only process conventional amounts of money):

you can use shapeshift.io to convert various digital currencies into monero.

you can just use an exchange, e.g. kraken.com, to buy monero via usd or euro.

regarding *anonymous *:

Keep in mind that as soon as you have monero in your personal wallet software it is as anonymous as it gets. It does not matter if it arrived in your wallet directly from your kraken.com account that is associated with your name. Any monero that leave your personal wallet are anonymous.

Here is some insight. The people in this thread talking up Monero are doing so because they can't buy drugs with it. Everyone in this thread not talking up Bitcoin aren't because they're out buying drugs with it.

[1 Points] TreyWait:

I think that governments and LE have been keeping a close eye on BTC because it's the big kid on the block and it's what they're most familiar with. Same thing goes for Coinbase. It seems like if you use either or both of these you need to jump through a lot more hoops to feel safe than you used to. It's probably a good idea to try some alternatives.

[1 Points] helpfulBud:

i don't why i should even bother mentioning it, but the largest and longest-running market, Dream, accepts BCH (bitcoin cash) which has fees of one penny for a transaction.

I currently buy LTC on coinbase and convert it to monero. I only use coinbase cause I'm small scale, I don't buy enough to get on the radar. Accounts worth over 20k in BTC for the year were turned into to the IRS by coinbase. Even if they do that for LTC, I wont be spending over 20k in a year, and with monero no one knows what the fuck I did with the coins. Fees aren't bad. Got to the point where bitcoin wasn't worth it for me anymore. Only way to anonymize was tumbling and with today's fees and transaction times, I'd pay more in fees than I actually spend on an order.
