Was this an OPSEC slip-up? Please read.

Hey guys, placed a small order, about 100 bucks. It was shipped recently but I got a bit anxious today so I went to my national postal service's home page and used their service to find a letter-box and whether they'd get emptied on the weekend. I used the city that my standard vendor always puts as the return address.

I did this over Tor (didn't work without JS) so I tried the clearnet instead. IS this as bad as checking tracking over the clearnet? It doesn't relate to the specific letter (no ID) but I have nothing to do with that city, except it being my vendor's return address.

I'm nervous and withdrawing, so this may be a bit paranoid but I'd appreciate insight! I'm in Europe if that makes a difference.

Yea bro I wouldn't be too worried. I am guessing you ordered a personal amount so if it was compromised there is probably a 90% chance nothing would come of it. But if they did decide to proceed with a case on you I guess they would see you visited that over the clearnet, but like I said personal amounts are almost never CD'd over. Unless you are some big local criminal and they are trying to get a case on you, but even then I would doubt it. Don't worry bro.

Don't use tor, it is possible that they will flag your package if you check the tracking off a tor exit node. Use either a personal VPN or public internet.

Dude, I do that all the time for sending out legitimate letters. Doing it over TOR may have been overkill, but I guess at some point if you did get busted there's about a .000000000000000001% chance that they would get the IP's of everyone that checked that city's drop box hours.

Now, your real mistake is thinking that even though the box is going to get picked up, your vendor will actually post it on a Saturday. Since SR1, there has been a real loss in vendor shipping speed. Most of them will sit on your order for a few days before they send it out.

Checking tracking through Tor will likely get your package flagged
