Am I in the wrong? what can happen to packages sent to wrong addresses

I placed an order. directly after placing my order, I realized I for some reason put the wrong first numbers of my address. so directly after i messaged the vendor and said that was the wrong address and then PGP'ed the correct one. Just to make sure i messaged him again telling him to send it to the second address. he messaged me today saying "Thats gonna be tough that order was released as soon as I marked shipped I will see if I can locate it at our dispatch". what does that mean? if it was released as soon as he marked shipped, doesnt that mean it was shipped, how can he locate it if it was already shipped. Also, I looked up the address of what I wrote down and its somewhere on a college campus very close to me. Is it possible for the post office to look out for my name? like a 'burned' name? or is it just addresses that can be burned?

You need to personally go to that address, tell them your expecting an item in the mail addressed in your name and that you put the incorrect address by mistake, tell them to keep hold of it and that you will be in to pick it up.

Somebody in here is shadowbanned - there is supposed to be a comment but there's nothing here.

Anyway OP, I think that it means exactly what he says - he marked it shipped but presumably the post hadn't actually gone out yet, so he was going to see if he could find it in the outgoing mail.

So the college campus are likely to get your mail - which means they will open it and may report the contents, which sucks especially for the vendor. No I don't think the Post Office can watch out for your name, that wouldn't really be practical.

If I get mail misdelivered to me like that (for someone else, wrong house number), I walk down to their mailbox and stick it in...

Good reason to not use fake names.
