Festi Gear and what it means for this sub.

I was thinking about FG and if he my have been arrested or not. If he was arrested does anyone feel because he was so active here it will bring more heat into this sub then is already here? Maybe I'm just overly paranoid but if they got his computer and it pulls up vendor ads from here I wouldn't think that would be a good thing. Obviously we all know the viability here to LE but I feel like it could take it to a higher level with the correlation.

I think that many people have seriously underestimated how "aware" global law enforcement is of the darknet markets, as well as seriously misunderstand the difference between them and this subreddit from a legal standpoint.

Consider an operation like Onymous, and really think about the massive amount of resources, time, coordination, and KNOWLEDGE it required. I don't mean to sound insulting, but you're looking at only an incredibly tiny bit of the big picture. Like staring at a paint molecule in the ceiling of the Sistene Chapel.

When you say "take it to a higher level," what, exactly, do you mean? We discuss illegal websites. We are not, in any way, an illegal website ourselves. We have rules written to keep it that way, and we enforce them in order to preserve the longevity of this subreddit. It is legal to discuss illegal things.

This is why we don't allow sourcing questions. This is why we don't allow people to offer their unused scripts for sale. This is why we don't allow people to ask for private messages. We do not allow users to do anything illegal here whatsoever.

We are interesting to LE, of course. But we aren't hidden from them in any way, shape, or form. Many people feel that knowing how to access the darknet markets is a skill that requires a great amount of technical knowledge, or think that even knowing about them includes them in a secret club of sorts.

These ideas are insane.

People who use markets ought to fully understand the risk that they're taking, and know the worst-case scenario before hitting the submit button. A vendor getting arrested is always a possibility. Nobody knows for certain what measures a vendor really is taking to protect the identity of their buyer. Nobody knows if their vendor will have a sudden change of heart and decide that their new full-time job is trying to collect the names and addresses of people who buy drugs so they can help the police catch them.

A vendor being active on reddit, then being arrested, doesn't change anything about the legality of this subreddit. It doesn't change the risk of their customers either; the risk was already in place when they made their order.

People should assume that any order they make comes attached with the possibility of being caught, because it does.

Sloppy vendor opsec has gotten buyers busted in the past.

So yes worry if you ordered from him.
