Sound legit?

So I live in an apartment building, we each have our own small mail slot where small priority stuff could fit. Today the mail man came by (different guy, never seen before) and informed me that going forward anything that doesn't fit in the mail slot has to be signed for because they have had several claims of items getting lost. UPS & FedEx currently deliver without signatures all the time and leave stuff at the door. Has this ever happened to anyone with USPS before? I think I'm obviously probably being overly paranoid, but nowadays who knows.

I get into in with USPS everytime my regular mail lady (who is a mail goddess) goes on vacation. Apparently, as explained to me by a supervisor, it is up to the carrier if they leave the package or not and they are encouraged not to. This has screwed up more than one amazon prime delivery I can only imagine how it may cause problems for a dmn package

Its not uncommon for this very reason. If they experience a rash of complaints I imagine they'll do this. This can also be seasonal. During Xmas time, they like to leave less and less on your doorstep b/c thefts increase during this time.

I doubt its anything necessarily related to DNM, its probably legit. But like someone else said, I'd hate to be signing for every package! It'd be worth it to get a PO Box.

He just said that out of the blue or did you get a package?
