When buying priority stamps/labels...

Never mailed anything in my life. When you purchase a priority stamp, you get a tracking label with it correct? Do you have to give them any information for these labels, like adressee or return address info? They dont print them on it right?

Basically I just want the stamps, envelopes, and labels. Will I be able to walk in and just buy these without hassle, add addresses and stamps later at home?

If you ask for one, yes.

No.

They don't.

Yes. Envelopes and tracking stickers are free for people who buy stamps. Envelopes you can grab at any time and walk out with.

If the postal employees ask you any questions when buying stamps and getting tracking stickers, say you just started as an eBay seller. Your product: knick knacks and widgets, naturally.

Note: the cost to mail Priority did go up in Janurary. Instead of trying to use usps.com's postal price calc all the time, just download this document which has all the new postal prices: hxxp://pe.usps.com/cpim/ftp/manuals/dmm300/Notice123.pdf

Use this method while you can. It may not be possible to do it this way soon. Reference: https://www.reddit.com/r/DarkNetMarkets/comments/480obe/dnm_specifically_listed_in_uspis_usps_annual/d0goa7s

Yes and no. Just act 'natural' when you go pick up a stamp or 5. The labels are #400 IIRC. They might act stingy about giving them out over the counter. There is no address information attached to these labels until you drop it off at a USPS drop box or post office.

Ordering them online is free, in amounts of 50 and up, by the way. Same for the priority mail boxes and envelopes.

It really is quite easy. You go and buy priority mail stamps 6.45 as of Jan. Thats all you get unles you ask for tracking stickers. So ask for tracking stickers as well. There are not serial numbers or anything on stamps or tracking labels that can be used to track back where or who purchased them. There are not numbers at all (except obviously the tracking numbers, but they dont record what numbers they give out, they just hand you a stack). They dont require nor want any information about you just to sell you stamps or give your free tracking stickers or envelopes. If you want to be extra paranoid, use cash to purchase the stamps But as I said, there is no way to track a stamp down to see who bought it. There is nothing on a stamp that is individual to that stamp. Sounds like your confused tracking stickers with labels of some kind. Tracking stickers (cause tracking is free with priority mail) have the bigger sticker that goes on the envelope and is essentially just a big barcode and a tracking number, and a smaller sticker with the tracking number for the shipper to keep. There is nothing you put on the tracking labels. They do have address labels that could be fed into a printer so you can print the address section and slap it on the envelope. They are usually just on a counter for anyone to grab, but I have always found them too much hassle to be worth it. I find a label printer works best and faster for printing your address labels. Priority Mail Envelopes can usually just be found on counters or stands for the taking without having to interact with anyone. So the whole process is simple, go in and ask to purchase however many priority mail 6.45$ stamps as you want, and ask for tracking stickers. If they dont have enough envelopes out for the grabbing, just ask for those to. Pay for the stamps, leave. No ID or anything required. Nothing sketchy. All pretty normal practice

/u/2cbking Thanks for taking the time to fully write that out. I feel confident enough now to go in and buy stamps labels and envelopes without feeling sketchy, I know most people package right at the counter and pay for shipping or use that aciacia or something site which I think is horrible opesec for vendors to pay for postage online, unless they are also running a large ebay/amazon store
