USPS CD

I get home to a pink slip saying to come pick up a package at the PO. Doing five minutes of research I find out everything I need to know about domestic United States shipping and go to the Post Office. When I arrive I am told I need to sign for the package. I act confused and ask what country did it come from (knowing it came from the US) and the lady responded saying it came from the west coast. I asked her ELI5 questions such as "So am I paying extra or something if I sign?" "And do all packages now need a signature because I never had to sign before?" She talked to her fellow employee and they said it was a mistake and I didn't have to. Since it couldn't get dropped off at my house I just needed to pick it up and didn't need to sign. They were very helpful and nice to me. Not all employees are wearing wires and spy goggles thinking everyone is receiving drogas. Edit: For people questioning this method, or thinking its suspicious to ask questions, you are doing no harm in asking questions about a situation like this, by saying its odd and you've never had to sign for a package before doesn't really send red flags up at all. Well unless you come in to the post office scanning 360 degrees every step up to the counter, D.A.R.E. T-shirt, Bible in hand, complete with tin foil hat and your lawyer handcuffed to you.

To sum this experience up, do basic research on your package delivery situation wether it be domestic or international. Don't be scared to ask questions, and this happened about a week ago, I waited to make sure it wasn't anything set up before posting this Hope this helps anyone in the future, thanks -AHU

this is totally common. Especially with express mail. The pink slip is not an indication of CD whatsoever. They don't want to bust you in the post office when you get around to picking up the pack on your time, they want everything coordinated around THEIR time. I've gotten many pink slips for random packs, mostly express packs whether they contain contraband or not.
