Package undeliverable?

Package was marked undeliverable for some reason and is now at a mail recovery center. I contacted the shipping company, but does anyone know why it might have been undeliverable in the first place? It was an apartment building if that helps. Thanks

Al I can think of when I hear "undeliverable" and "apartment" is: the recipient's mailbox was so full of mail they coudn't fit anything in; The wrong last name was on the mailbox, or something like that; the apts use package lockers and the mailman was unable for whatever reason to utilize them; EDIT: I keep thinking of more stuff

This has happened twice sending packages to my gfs condo. Like actual package not code for anything just a greetings card and candy. The first time I was told it was because the guy at the post office forgot to input her apt # into the barcode and was thus undeliverable. However the lady on the toll free line told me some deliverers will mark as undeliverable if they can't get there in time or at the start of their route to turn the clock off in a sense and then deliver anyway just late. The same thing happened a few weeks later but weirdly enough was not late in the end.

Tldr: USPS can be totally disorganized and impossible to figure out why they do the weird things they do. I would though recommend not contacting further about it and drawing more attention to yourself in case it got intercepted
