You ever think someone in the delivery systems finds the drugs and just keeps them?

I mean every now and then a mail man most smell something a little too loud from some random package. Or maybe a vacuum seal broke and some thing else fell out of some other package. And if they know drugs are being sent through the system like that they could just take the parcel with them home without ever reporting anything about it and just say it went delivered to the address.

It's not like someone is going to the post office asking about that box of illegal drugs they bought.

There was a post here a while ago about some kid who ordered weed and had a plain clothed "FBI Agent" go to his door, confront him about getting weed mailed to him, gave him a scolding, and left. Dude didn't flash a badge or give the slightest indication of being an actual authority figure. Yup, it definitely happens. Still better than a CD though I guess.

Yes, I have had this happen before. Had a postal package on the way, then it turns out someone ripped open the package and took out the contents. And this story shows the gaping security holes in USPS facilities: Postal Service employees charged with stealing drugs at O'Hare

Read about how Aramis Brown deliberately missorted apparent drug packages to steal their contents. Then he dropped the drugs he stole into Zaphronsia Wheeler's backpack, and Wheeler carried them right out of the USPS facility. No security check or anything:

"According to the affidavit, Wheeler told authorities he left an empty backpack in the employee locker room, and if it was full by the end of his shift, he knew Brown had taken drugs from packages.

Wheeler said he made more than $13,000 selling narcotics the pair had stolen from the mail, the affidavit said. Brown allegedly admitted to rifling through mail since early 2015, and opening packages based on the smell and listed addresses."

Since we entrust these facilities with our nation's mail, why the fuck don't they have basic security checks? Warehouses for companies like Amazon require their workers to be checked every time they leave the warehouse to ensure they haven't stolen anything. Read this article on a Supreme Court ruling documenting Amazon's security process and declaring that Amazon doesn't have to pay their workers for waiting to go through security. I don't agree with the ruling, but security checks can be unfortunately necessary in warehouses that deal with high-value items.

Is it really too much to ask for USPS to implement security checks like Amazon for their sorting facilities? I would hope they do, but there is probably pushback from the unions that have a lot of leverage over USPS. It should be vital for the USPS to implement something like this, given that you have many high-value items passing through these places every day.

Had they even done a basic check of Zaphronsia Wheeler's backpack even on one occasion, he (and others like him) probably would be caught much sooner and we wouldn't have to deal with so many stolen packages. We're talking about high-value amounts of marijuana, which isn't exactly the easiest thing to conceal.

For sure. I was at UPS for a time and they caught guys stealing everything you can think of. If somebody will try to walk through a metal detector with diamond jewelry hidden in their canteen they definitely wouldn't think twice about pocketing any drug they thought they could make money from. I'm sure the USPS is no different. I've definitely shipped non-DNM related stuff that just straight up disappeared from the system, so it went somewhere

I work at an independent shipping, personal mailbox business. We get folks who ship weed quite often. We are pretty cool about it. if it does not pass our nose test we will not accept it. We had a package returned to our shop after it was stinking up the UPS drivers van. We called the customer that it was returned and he could pick it up... folks never did come back for it. After a while the boss "disposed" of it.

Of course things like this go on. If I were a postal worker and I came across something I'd probably grab a bit, repair the package and send it on its way haha

Pretty sure the pack I'm waiting on now was grabbed up by some ass hole postal employee. Wish I could check but there is no tracking with this vendor -____________-

i worked with a girl who had a cop boyfriend at one point. she said he would take drugs from people that were arrested or whatever. she broke up with him because of this. everything from weed to meth.

if police do it. so do postal workers.

How do you think we have so many pill vendors?

A couple of years ago (maybe 5 years) it was in the news here in DK that postal employees was stealing parcels in enormous amounts. What was mostly mentioned was digital stuff like phones, playstations, laptops and digital cameras.

Total amount of stolen (or "lost" parcels/letters) in 2008 was 50.000 for the Danish postal service.

Since this was before the dnm, it would probably be a safe bet that because a lot of drugs have gone postal since that time because of the marketplaces, that the stealing postal employees would now have come across some drug letters and parcels by chance. And if they are already regular thieves, they probably can find some use for drugs, which they know won't get reported missing by anyone.

You can easily check your own postal service by just google the postal service name and add "steals" or "stealing packages" (in your own language of course). You will probably come across lots of news about some postal employees stealing packages in your country :) I tried this with "Royal mail stealing packages", and came across an article (from 2008 though) saying that one postal worker per day gets caught stealing.. So it does make sense when somebody complains here that they haven't received there UK domestic order from a vendor :/

No I doubt it, obvisouly it happens barely but not a lot. I'm pretty sure usps workers get tested idk for sure though.

Yes! I have a friend who worked in the postal office sorting packages. One day he could smell weed, tracked the smell to a package, ripped it open and filled his pockets with weed. He then taped it back up and sent it on It's way. This happened in Australia

Saw a news article from long island recently where several postal workers were arrested for stealing drug packs. Probably DNM but who knows
