Agora is closing because they believe they can be deanonymized. And we know for sure they are making more money than any other market. So they have a lot to lose by shutting down. Well wouldnt the same shit hold true for all the other markets? I'm expecting quite a few exit scams once these other markets feel like they've got as much of the agora refugees as they think they will get and head for belize.
Why would they stay open?
Because they're run by egotistical little pricks who think they're bullet proof.
The only way to mitigate this attack as far as I know it's changing servers constantly, or investing in enough TOR nodes that once they're fully trusted by the network you can start excluding nodes you don't control.
Agora was already doing the first option and decided that might not be enough anymore.
There's been no unexplained increase of nodes since this study came out, so we know none of the DNMs did the second option.
If you aren't encrypting your info you're a goddamn moron. I think just about everyone here, if they thought about it for an instant, could name three DNM's that are stupid enough to ignore what's going on. Not only will we see some DNM(s) pull a runner, but I also think we'll see some LE fruit pruning.
