Is the Agora subreddit being dramatic, or should I be worried?

Sorry to clog up this sub, hopefully all discussion can be in here.

Everyone in Ag is calling for people to 'Abandon Ship' - 'It's one million percent an exit scam' etc etc.

I know about how their deposit system works - I'm not asking about coins not showing up, or looking fishy in the blockchain.

Just asking for someone level headed to assess the situation, I'm by no means well versed on DNM's so hopefully someone who is, can give me a bit of information?

Here's my attempt at levelheaded advice that has never failed me on the DNMs:

[19 Points] toss-1:

Think about the obvious:

• They were one of the only DNM's that stopped all business to move their site servers to new servers after the Heartbleed SSL bug was announced

• The have a minimalist attitude in communicating updates and upgrades as well as down time rather they employ a sneaky trick of playing with the capture and delaying log ins to the site

• The do not adhere to the Defcon over communication methodology of "here's the plan" and the present misleading statements

• They are not in a lot of mainstream news - http://www.wired.com/2014/11/the-evolution-of-evolution-after-silk-road/

• I received my btcs after 24-36 hours so I endured the same hurry up and wait feeling

• Should you not trust them, simply don't use them, but put you tin foil hat away until any solid proof is presented

This happens every time a site has a problem, hundreds scream SCAM OMG. and most of teh time it's worked out.

So people are going to say its fucked and a scam even if it's not. Does not really help, I know.

[7 Points] Sinji_:

It's really a lot about your own thoughts at this point, evaluate all the evidence and decide for yourself.

Personally, I still use Agora. They've been one of the longest running DNM's at this time and they've proven themselves to be very secure and reliable. I believe this was just a hiccup in their system and they did their best to patch it in a reasonable time. You have to realize that these people have lives too.

That all being said, It's really up to your own interpretation. Always remember your opsec and frankly you should be fine.

Good thing you posted another thread about this. Now we can get to the bottom of it.

Oh god, I have been posing on that subreddit for a few days and it's just a huge group of new users who ran over from SR2 when shit hit the fan. Trying to explain that ILLEGAL shit happens on ILLEGAL websites, they just don't get it. You have two choices:

  1. Wait
  2. Fuck off

I would say no, not everyone is saying "abandon ship" just the vocal minority who also happen to be retarded.

[4 Points] dr_zoidberg590:

People are reporting hacked accounts and changed passwords. Many are still waiting on deposits/withdrawals. Agora has taken the forum down. Agora's banners refuse to mention deposit issues... make your own decision.

[2 Points] memorelapse:

I'm worried now. I've been in regular contact with support for the last 24 hours and they keep lying about new deposits. First it was 4 hours... then it was 6 hours..... I just woke up to check my wallet......guess what... FUCKIN ZERO. They are blowing sunshine up my ass instead of being honest. They have zero credibility in my opinion and if my coins ever show up....they are being transfered to Evo. FUCK AGORA.

[2 Points] FeenixArisen:

I am just getting back into the scene after a glorious ride on the original SR where I never had one single issue. I've followed things since, and for right now I am waiting until there are some better reports coming out about Agora before I send bitcoins to my fresh account there.

We need to keep cool heads and not jump on rumours, just be patient. I saw a couple of the other sites 'go down' when the person holding the escrow keys fucked off, right now it looks like Agora is still on the rails and just needs some time to get rolling again.

[1 Points] DnmAvenger:

I wouldn't risk using Agora right now personally. Is Agora the only market you use? I just do not see the need to take an unnecessary risk when there is another market functioning perfectly fine.

[1 Points] HeinoH:

I also noiced they enabled registration again... and the site is not even working correctly..

[1 Points] None:

It's drama. Stupid people are getting worked up over things they have no knowledge of, and they are clogging the DMN reddit with repetitive questions.

[0 Points] jimmyd1987:

thats my thread you are referencing, passwords have been changed on non pgp verification accounts, I'm not referencing bitcoin at all. my and a lot of others have had their passwords changed overnight. 2+2=4 scam or hacked, you chose.

[0 Points] phattsao:

It's a risk to use Agora right now. I'd definitely entertain other options right now, come back in a week and see if Agora is still standing.
