WINONA, Minn. -- Court documents say a 19-year-old Winona man was arrested after the smell of marijuana was detected coming from a package addressed to him at a post office.
A criminal complaint says a postal inspector recently contacted police to tell them there was a package at the Winona Post Office with a "strong odor of marijuana emanating from within."
According to the complaint, police got a search warrant for the package and found marijuana wax, cocaine and Xanax inside. Court documents say the post office contacted the addressee of the package and police arrested him after he came and picked it up.
The Winona Daily News (see article in comments) reports the man faces drug charges including second-degree possession of a controlled substance.

A U.S. postal inspector sniffed out a shipment of illicit drugs, resulting in the arrest of a Winona man.
An inspector at the Winona Post Office contacted Winona police earlier this week, informing them that they had in their possession a package with a “strong odor of marijuana emanating from within,” a complaint filed in Winona County District Court states.
Police obtained a search warrant and opened the package. Inside they found 125 grams of marijuana wax, 8 grams of cocaine, 250 Alprazolam tablets, and 450 Xanax tablets. Police removed the bulk of the contraband to hold as evidence, resealed the package and postal authorities contacted the addressee, Seth John Hough, 19, of Winona, telling him he had a package waiting to be picked up at the post office.
Police observed Hough leave his residence and proceed to the post office, where he identified himself and took possession of the package, court documents state. Police then followed the vehicle, boxing it in with squad cars when it pulled over and parked. Hough was then arrested and taken into custody.
After his arrest, police observed offers to buy drugs in two text messages on his cellphone: “How much for 2?” and “How much will you sell a quad for?” — a quad being a quarter ounce of marijuana.
In the vehicle, officers located a second package, also addressed to Hough, also reeking of marijuana.
The driver of the vehicle said he knew that Hough was selling marijuana, and that for the last year and a half or so had been driving him around in return for “good deals” on the drug.
Hough appeared in Winona County District Court charged with second-degree possession of a controlled substance (cocaine); fifth-degree possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell (marijuana or a mixture containing THC); and fifth-degree possession of a controlled substance (Alprazolam).
