Why is the bubble hash so dark?

but all the vendors claim it's AAA quality. it should be more dirty blond, not full on dark brown.

It comes from shake/trim.

When you make pressed hash from shaking off the kief, whether with dry ice or silk screens, the best hash comes out very blonde. If you make charas (Indian/Nepalese/Afghani style hash) by rubbing the resin off fresh plants in your hands it comes out completely black. When you make bubble hash, the best stuff is a very dark color and not blonde. I don't know why, but that's the way it is. I used to grow a lot of chronic, and I have made qwiso, dry ice, bubble, and screened hash, so I have a lot of experience with this. I personally like to make dry ice hash best, because it is almost as good as bubble, but it only takes like five minutes to make.

Basically what big daddy said, it's the quality and you really think these sort of people are gonna advertise their product as crappy?

i have had full melt hash be dark brown, so color can often mean nothing

Try ECC's bubble hash. Its supposedly made from the LSD week, I dunno, but it is super light tan. Really strong stuff, like way better than almost all the hash I've ever smoked. Insanely good.

I think the pressure and sometimes slight heat used to get it nice and compressed will darken hash, making it a different color than pure kief. It could also be made from larger or the smallest micron bags. If it's from shake/trim, pretty much only the trichomes should fall through to the bags with the optimal micron size but only broken trichomes and super fine plant matter gets to through to the smallest size. Perhaps the bud was ground up, creating particles of various sizes that would get through but still be too large to get to the smallest bag. These are just my theories, because I see some pretty gross looking hash; or this could at least what would make it terrible quality to begin with. In theory you should be able to make top quality with shake/trim using bubble bags... maybe they aren't even using bubble bags.
