I made a post over on the Agora forums about this, but I wanted to post here to reach out to more people. Also I could only post in newbie section on Agora.
I bought BenjaminButton's counterfeits(Purchased $100 bill and $20 bills) hoping that they would be a step above the others (Fakeasanything, Doritos, etc which are all basically the same as far as I'm aware). Turns out they are pretty bad. I'll go over the main things pretty quick because I don't want to type out a long post. I found a bill of the same series(not as common anymore) so I had something to compare.
Color - looks washed out/faded. Not as green as a real bill
Serial Number - Only received one $100 but got the 5 x $20 and they all had the same number, very bad because you can't use more than one at once and it is easier for the police to catch up to you if you keep using them I just looked and he claims they are unique serial numbers
Details - The printing is pretty dark and therefore a lot of the design details such as the border on the top and bottom, don't really look good at all.
Security Features - pretty much non existent of course. But on the listing he says "Bills printed by the treasury prior to 1996 did not contain color shift ink." Makes you think they are gonna be pre-1996 bills right? No, they are 2001 series bills, which should have the color shift, but of course these counterfeits do not have it. That being said, the $100 is from 1990 and therefore the color shift ink is not needed
Pen Test - he claims genuine US treasury paper, but they feel thinner than the real thing, they do not slide against each other smoothly like real bills do, they get very stuck(similar to new bills, so I could possibly be wrong). But if it is really that paper, I think it would pass counterfeit pen test. I tested a $20 and it turned black, so it did not pass. I did not test the $100 but I assume the same.
Overall, pretty bad. I'm thinking that any of the other vendors with the $20 bills are good, even though those have no security features. I think I would be more comfortable passing the $100 than the $20, although if it is anywhere like where I work, they check it with the pen, so I'm assuming it will fail like the $20.
At this point I just have to wait for someone to come out with the supernotes. Ink was a reseller for them for a while(and hopefully will return soon). If you go on Evolution, there is a vendor named FRIM(Federal Reserve is Mad). He has a listing that you can buy to gain access to buying his super notes. Fair enough if they are really good notes, but they are not yet available, so we will see in the future.
If anyone has any info about this, let me know. I don't really know any places that have big discussions on these types of things(if you have some info you don't want to release, or know of a good website, PM me!)
TLDR: Don't waste your time with these
wow these bills sound like the bottom of the barrel bullshit
