Wikileaks' Valut 7 "Grasshopper" reveals CIA malware to hack Windows

http://news.softpedia.com/news/wikileaks-vault-7-grasshopper-reveals-cia-malware-created-to-hack-windows-514685.shtml

"The American public should be deeply troubled by any Wikileaks

disclosure designed to damage the Intelligence Community's ability to

protect America against terrorists and other adversaries. Such disclosures

not only jeopardize U.S. personnel and operations, but also equip our

adversaries with tools and information to do us harm," the agency said.

What do you guys think?

If the Intelligence Community was genuine in its concern for the American public it wouldn't spy on them, or backdoor their computers or consistently ignore the human rights of American citizens. Americans overwhelmingly don't like what the IC does to them.

Also, in case it isn't already obviously, the main function of the IC is power and control, not protecting people. Be thankful for Wikileaks, as it balances out the unfair distribution of information just a little.

The problem is that security isn't a gradient, one system can't be secure from everyone else but easy to break into for us. If you force a corporation to put a security hole into a system that security hole doesn't just exist when you want to use it, it exists when anyone else wants to use it too. It may take your enemies a little longer to uncover it, but eventually it will be discovered. Security through obscurity is never sufficient. That flaw being exposed doesn't put people at risk, forcing that flaw to be implemented puts people at risk.

I mean, I'm sure the people that are actually putting in the work really do believe they have our best interest in mind...

He who sacrifices freedom for security deserves neither

WikiLeaks is bottom of the pile of 'deeply troubling' things US citizens, or any other countries citizens should be concerning themselves with.

Their own government is far bigger a threat to freedom, democracy, safety etc than any other person/group/country/idea that they point the finger at...

'it's them, it's them. Don't look at us, look at them.'
