You have to worry about the Human element. Modern encryption ciphers are more than strong enough.
Quantum computing is a real risk to crypto coins. A sufficiently sized quantum computer can theoretically break all the crypto schemes used in all cryptocoins.
Research is being done to design quantum resistant algorithms, and progress is good. But if it only takes 10 years for the nsa to get a real quantum computer running, they can use that to break any old (non quantum resistant) encrypted data they've logged in their massive datacenter.
The implications could be a disaster, but I think there are enough private companies pursuing quantum computing that the crypto world will have plenty of time to change to new algorithms.
