Signal available for Tails OS+other OS

Signal recently released a standalone app for Debian based Linux (meaning Tails and others), Windows and Mac.

For those unaware: Signal is a free, open source, end to end encryption application that is one of the more secure methods of A to B communication.

Open Whisper Systems (organization that makes Signal) itself cannot read your messages simply because you control the encryption keys (that is the keys are stored locally on the device you are using) when using Signal.

Edit: I forgot Signal requires a phone number to sign up. More secure alternatives include Ricochet, Bitmessage, Wickr, and Jabber

Tails is supposed to be ephemeral and anonymous, Signal requires you receiving at least one text message to get started, so you lose any geographical anonymity that Tails was supposed to give you. If your phone number isn't acquired carefully, it will link you to a credit card, a store, a license plate, a picture of you, and/or more. Imagine a browser exploit that identifies the Signal number associated with the browser.

Signal is great, use it on your phone, use it to talk to anyone you would normally SMS or call.
