I've wandered the SR forums and site for years, since near it's creation. In the beginning simply just because I was interested, later because I wanted my own drugs. I've always found it fascinating and this is just another incident that shows how dumb (and human) these guys are.
If you looked at Ross' social media outlets and compared them to Blake's, you'd think they were best friends. Consider the fact they both were based in SF, script kiddies on the side with a enthusiastic love for bitcoin... it's pretty clear they were buddies. After Ross was arrested a killswitch was set, and he picked up the pieces, he knew millions would still be able to be made, these kids thought they were smarter than anyone. LE waited and had everything set up. As everyone is saying, SR 2 from the fucking jump just looked shady as fuck. Nothing seemed legit. Having multi million dollar drug bizaars ran by 20 something from SF who just love social media attention are fucking the people trying to buy/sell drugs so hard. This is becoming obvious open markets like these are not the way to continue the online drug trade, other means must be found.
I just find this whole scenario to be hilarious. As I read in another post, LE would obviously go after the 23 year old liberatarian over the mexican cartelman who doesn't have a hint of moral code and kills for money. Why risk so much more when we are dealing with the same amounts of money on here? It's terrible because the intentions of both sides are so contrasting, yet that isn't a matter in court whatsoever.
Life will continue. The people who don't practice secure opsec will fall off, the good ones will thrive. I just hope good people don't spend 30 years in jail because they felt safe on their computer. The justice system is fucked up.
Im signin off but I hope yall didnt get fucked too hard. I lost $15 on c9 that i forgot to take off, but I really hope sc13nce and alexsosa and interways are good. If anyone has any info on them, please post it up here
I don't see that Ross and that idiot defcon have very much in common. Ross made a stupid mistake very early on before he knew how big SR was going to become.
Defcon could've learned from history and Ross' mistake but he chose not to because he's an arrogant, egotistical moron.
