Something I want to point out about Oasis.

Now the team behind Oasis seem like very professional people, we know this because all of the other markets slowly developed their code, however the people who coded Oasis obviously had a lot of experience as they had a fully developed market with a polished UI from the get go.

At first I was skeptical, I thought there was no way a government could practice such a shady method of catching drug users, but I think we should make a thread based on the evidence that we have against Oasis.

I would like to start by raising a point, usually coders have patterns and habits, and with the new release of MoneroMarket and the exit of Oasis market, it leads me to believe that the team behind oasis could be behind MoneroMarket. We know that Oasis know how to code their markets to accept monero and that isn't common knowledge as far as I'm concerned.

Also, the text input boxes on Oasis and MoneroMarket look exactly the same also the dividers look EXACTLY THE SAME!

I think that the argument against LE taking commission is false, if they were behind Oasis then this is proof that they are perfectly happy taking dirty money, also they have done this in the past with Silk Road, so why wouldn't they do it again.

EDIT: If anyone has the html code from Oasis I will pay BTC for it, I want to compare both of them.

EDIT 2: This is getting down voted to fuck, seems very suspicious to me. Please up vote for visibility.

Welcome to the Club! You chose to fight some shilly, manipulative, adversaries. Monero S.W.A.T. I got your back. Thanks for also connecting the dots. Expect Us!

[40 Points] pinochetHA:

a) You should be more interested in Oasis's backend code. The html is public. It's the backend where the magic happens. A lot of markets look the same, but what's going on behind the scenes is often very different.

b) I don't think oasis's preparedness makes them LE. Given their business model, which was unusual on the darknet market scene, they had to be prepared if anyone was going to be convinced by them.

c) I agree that LE would have no problem running a market as a honeypot. They've allowed the distribution of child porn before, so a market is light by comparison. I don't think they would have exited so early though.

d) I don't think anyone has mentioned this already and it's kind of important. Moneromarket is ran by or heavily associated with, Easyonions. It's got a link back in the footer, so they definitely designed it. Now Easyonions is a nice service, but it's already marked as a scam on the Uncensored Hidden Wiki, as it pretends that it's advertisers are legit when they are obvious scammers. I have no opinion on this because I (generally) refrain from publicly commenting on former or potential advertisers, but it's worth noting.

e) Oasis and Moneromarket don't look alike. Moneromarket looks like crap.

f) Until recently Easyonions was carrying an advert for Alphabay. That seems odd if they were Oasis.

[30 Points] -owl:

They do look eerily similar, its almost as if they tried to make it look different as much as they could with the colour scheme aswell.

When you have an unlimited supply of tax dollars, you can afford the best tech people. I am sticking with my original statement, this is a test run for something bigger down the road.

Look for a new market to pop up & have all the bells & whistles. Look for this new market to make a push to top AB as the big dog in the yard. That is if AB is not taken down shortly after this new super market goes live.

One day you will go to log onto AB & the pic at the link below will be all that is there, forcing you to this new super darknet market that seems to always be up & run without a single problem. Think it can't happen, keep that head in the sand ;-)

I'd bet you a Monero that Gwern has the Oasis HTML code.

[7 Points] moneromarket:

We are using bootstrap framework just like millions of users so yes the text input boxes might be exactly the same. Concerning the coding to accept Monero... all the needed details are openly available on the "developer-guides" section of getmonero and there is libraries available on github.

[6 Points] Lucyintehsky:

The monero guy is answering shit as rapid as the oasismarket guy :D.

both markets sucks.

Yes, and also... In geography, an oasis (plural: oases) is an isolated area of vegetation in a desert, typically surrounding a spring or similar water source, such as a pond or small lake. Oases also provide habitat for animals and even humans if the area is big enough. The location of oases has been of critical importance for trade and transportation routes in desert areas; caravans must travel via oases so that supplies of water and food can be replenished. Thus, political or military control of an oasis has in many cases meant control of trade on a particular route. For example, the oases of Awjila, Ghadames, and Kufra, situated in modern-day Libya, have at various times been vital to both North-South and East-West trade in the Sahara Desert.

Oases are formed from underground rivers or aquifers such as an artesian aquifer, where water can reach the surface naturally by pressure or by man-made wells. Occasional brief thunderstorms provide subterranean water to sustain natural oases, such as the Tuat. Substrata of impermeable rock and stone can trap water and retain it in pockets, or on long faulting subsurface ridges or volcanic dikes water can collect and percolate to the surface. Any incidence of water is then used by migrating birds, which also pass seeds with their droppings which will grow at the water's edge forming an oasis.

Just thought I'd throw that in too.

Thanks for raising these points, good to consider. I don't have a definitive opinion but it's helpful to consider possibilities, and your arguments have strong points.

I for one, would not rule out LE involvement. LE do whatever the fuck they can get away with, just like anyone. Sometimes they get busted for shit. Like the judge that was sending the kids to juvie and getting kickbacks for it. So let's not pretend they're going to follow the law all the time. I'm just not sure why they would close up so soon? Maybe they realized they were potentially breaking the law??

Best example of circular logic I've seen in a while.

[5 Points] transcendReality:

I'd bet anything the CIA, in concert with other alphabet gangs, is happily dumping its drug stash on the dark net. Knowing them, they're creating kingpins out of thin air, then busting them. They're probably using the money the operations generate to fund black projects taking down foreign powers not aligned with US interests. Classic CIA stuff.

You can thank congress for defunding such projects.

[2 Points] tachyonflux:

Upvoted for visibility. Valid points you've made, OP.

[2 Points] RapsFan420:

Is there any proof of something like this happening in the past?

[1 Points] iamunlimited:

but why would they do that

[1 Points] lovelylittlegangster:

Bahahaha!!!

MoneroMarket is the fucking same site as Oasis! I looked at the Captcha and was like... er... that's the same software Oasis ran :o

So I found an old screenshot from deepdotweb and compared it to MoneroMarket (Oasis on the Left, MM on the Right):

http://imgur.com/w6jVxVA

Same Captcha software with tweaked settings, same text input boxes...

This isn't a coincidence IMO. How many websites and Capthcas do we all come across on a daily basis? How often do you see a disco coloured captcha with polygons behind it? Not that often! What are the chances that another market would pop up a couple days after Oasis goes down with very very similar programming and a working XMR implementation? The reason most exchanges havent implemented XMR is that it is significantly different from BTC which is almost unique amongst altcoins. It apparently takes a lot of work to get a working implementation. Coincidence that MoneroMarket opens up just after Oasis (who also has a working XMR implemetation) goes down?

Disclaimer: I'm high as fuck right now and may have developed the ability to create BBMC-esque conspiracy theories.

[1 Points] drugsnboobs:

because they were competing with the likes of AlphaBay and it could distinguish them.

We know that Oasis know how to code their markets to accept monero and that isn't common knowledge as far as I'm concerned.

No it's pretty easy all things considered.

it leads me to believe that the team behind oasis could be behind MoneroMarket.

I mean idc since I wouldn't be giving money to a new market anyway. AlphaBay has more listings that accept monero anyways.

Strange things are afoot at the Circle K.

[-1 Points] Vendor_BBMC:

This is the top post. Its getting upvoted to fuck.

Why would the cops abandon a successful honeypot in favor of a new one? They wouldn't. Only criminals run DNMs, and only criminals exit scam.

LE don't run any markets, because, as Ross discovered, its illegal.

For God's sake, go and follow your bitcoin if you had any on there. I'm fed up of chasing markets I'm not on for Americans. But left to yourselves, you can't even tell the police from the thieves. Cops try to STOP markets which enable the sale of drugs.

DNM owners don't generally issue speeding tickets

That's how I remember which is which, if I get stoned and get a bit confused.

The markets can not be run by the police. If it was they coul not charge anyone for buying unless they were sending fake drugs. Its illegal for cops to sell drugs. No matter what you have been told.

Edit. In the USA

[-3 Points] jack19056:

I have up voted you, and let me tell you, LE does not pull such projects. It would be against the constitution, and there is nothing to gain by doing so. They haven't made any arrest based on the evidence they might have procured, which would be zero since Oasis enforced PGP encryption.
