Need help asap

So had a few things delivered, and my housemate did not recognise the name on the parcels, so told the postman that nobody with that name lived here. He took the parcels away with him. Ive just been to the collection office and theyve told me that it'll go straight to their main offices to be opened up to look for a return address. Has anyone had this problem before or can offer any help?

You shouldn't have gone to the post office and asked about it. Please say you at least didn't mention the name on the package. You hurt your plausible deniability either way, if they get the video of you at the PO, how are you going to explain that away?

If it wasn't big weight, I wouldn't worry too much. They'll either trash it or send an LL to the fake name. Either way keep a clean house for a while. That address should be clean for a long time if you want to be safe.

This has been said but can't stress this enough - do not order packages in a different name unless you really know what you are doing. Establishing a drop in another name is more than just picking a fake name and ordering it. You put yourself at much higher risk when you use a fake name. Think of it this way, my friend - if you had a pack in your name and say LE was watching you (like a CD perhaps), if you got popped you at least have some defense as to why you were opening the package (it was in your name!). But if you used a fake name and it was delivered, if you open that pack, you have absolutely no good excuse for opening that pack. They would ask why you were opening up a package in someone else's name unless you were expecting it. You actually cause more damage to yourself by doing this.

For instance, in your specific case if you go to the postie and ask for it, you have zero plausible deniability. Its as bad as having the tracking number. You basically admit that you were expecting that package, otherwise why would you be asking for it? Now, if the same sitch happened but it was in your own name, you at least have a very valid reason for going to pick up the package and can still have plausible deniability.

This isn't intended to beat you up over your mistake. Its important that we all understand and practice best practices when doing this. Stay safe, my friend.

As what to do in this case? Hard to tell. There is no good answer.
