TL;DR - There is a "Report" button. Use it!!!
Good Day Community,
This is an announcement I've been meaning to put together for some time, thank you to /u/CynicalElephant for keeping on top of this and sending me reminders. I wanted to send a friendly reminder and guide to the community about helping us moderate the content on this sub. We really have 3 tools at our disposal to moderate content:
- Automod
- Mods looking through the sub
- The community
While Automod is very helpful, some know how to effectively bypass our friendly automod and slip posts past. With yet another mod retiring today, we will be relying even more heavily on the community to help us moderate content.
Why do we moderate content?
This is a necessary evil. We moderate content for two reasons - to comply with Reddit's rules and regulations and to keep the sub fun, interesting, and free of spam/clutter. While I know some hate we have rules in place, this is something we have to do. We operate a sub that toes the line with Reddit's TOS and we want to keep on the right side of that. We don't want to give anyone a reason to remove this sub and take away a valuable resource and outlet for the community.
What can the community do to help?
The easiest and most effective thing someone can do is to click the "Report" button on a post that violates a rule. If you are unsure if the post violates a rule and think its borderline, still click the Report button. We would much rather get more false positives. The Report button is available on posts and comments/replies. Use it!!!
When you report a post, we get a notification in our queue and we can investigate it. There might be a perception that we are bothered by such reports, especially if they are borderline. The opposite is true. We want to see the community participating in this manner. This is an extremely helpful tool in helping us moderate. When reporting, it'll ask for a reason - this is not nearly as important as simply just reporting an offending post.
Another way to participate in such a manner is to simply message the mods. If you see a post that is questionable, you can use the "Message the Mods" button on the sidebar. Please include a link to the post/comment you are reporting and a brief note explaining what's going on.
What to report
Look at the rules on the sidebar. Most are pretty self-explanatory. A few of the rules are subjective, but again, over-report. We should be erring on the side of over-reporting than under-reporting. The rule most broken is our sourcing rule. The bottom line - your sourcing question should be narrow in scope when it comes to vendors. Do your research. Search the sub. For 99% of the drugs you are looking for, you will find reviews and even vendors from the Darknet Deals Thread. Search the marketplace. If your question cannot be answered with a selection from the original post, think twice before posting. For instance, if I ask if Vendor A or Vendor B has better coke. This can be answered by saying "Vendor A" or "Vendor B" - content from the original post. The reality is when the community answers a sourcing question, they probably will suggest other vendors - and this is perfectly acceptable. Its semantics, but its an important distinction. Your question should reflect that you've done research on the topic. So, if your question contains 1 to some discrete number of vendors (could be 1, 2, 5, 12), its probably okay.
Again, if you see a sourcing post that is questionable, report it!
Direct Dealing
This tends to come up. We will ban vendors who attempt to negotiate deals on this sub. There is no wiggle room on this. We aren't trying to be dicks but Reddit would not tolerate a sub of any size that was being used to deal. We aren't a platform for vendors and consumers. We are a platform that discusses activities that happen elsewhere. We are not the activity, so to speak.
Also, unfortunately scammers can be found around the sub attempting to scam our community. Unfortunately the nature of direct dealing gives rise to the inability for the consumer to have any leverage should a deal go wrong. There is minimal feedback, there is minimal reputation, etc. In fact, very recently we had problems with a vendor breaking this rule multiple times. There have been reports of this vendor blackmailing/extorting as well as not sending product. Many threads have been made in recent days and its a shame. But unfortunately we are limited in what we can do outside of banning the offending vendor. Again, this is why its absolutely critical you report this activity. This particular vendor was creating new accounts and we had to keep a sharp eye on those revolving accounts.
Remember, buying drugs and using the mail is not legal. We are breaking multiple laws when we use the markets to acquire illegal drugs. You do NOT necessarily know who you are talking to when conducting a deal in this manner. Assume that LE is on the sub. Assume that anyone who offers to sell you product that you do not know is LE or a scammer. Direct dealing on this sub is not going to be tolerated on this sub not only due to Reddit but also to protect our community. This does not apply to the many good vendors that have a presence on the sub that conduct direct deals. Those deals are done elsewhere (over email for example) and we have no problem with them. We do have a problem with vendors soliciting PM's or outright trying to deal on this sub. Help us protect the community and report it. For vendors who are considering using this sub to conduct deals, think twice because the ban resulting from this can be permanent. Should you establish a market presence, you will not be able to create a new account and participate in this sub. Do not conduct deals on this sub. This, along with doxxing, is one of the cardinal sins here.
Doxxing and Threats of Doxxing
I'll keep this short. Doxxing will not be tolerated. I don't care if you got ripped off, you will not use this sub to doxx anyone. It doesn't matter if you're doxxing Lucifer, it won't happen here. Go elsewhere with that. Also, posts that say "I'm going to be doxxing XYZ in one hour", stop that. One, nobody gives a shit about anything without proof. Second, this isn't the place to doxx.
Thanks!
A pre-emptive thank you for helping mod this sub. We should all think of ourselves as moderators here. We are all responsible for this sub and the content. If you think the sub sucks, start contributing to make it better. The mods here don't produce the content, we moderate it. That's it. We should all be taking some ownership in this place and be proactive about helping manage it. The mods are a tiny handful of people, we can't do it without the community's help. Remember, any post or comment that breaks a rule (or potentially breaks one) should be reported. We will investigate reports and use appropriate action.
