Creator of Bitcoin releases cryptographic proof of identity.

http://www.bbc.com/news/technology-36168863

Craig Wright, an Australian entrepreneur, proved that he was Satoshi Nakamoto by signing a message with one of the earliest keys and moving coins known to belong to the first blocks. It looks like the authorities forced him to identify himself, he seems pretty livid about this in the interview. There was speculation that he was the guy after Australian tax officials raided him late last year.

"I would rather not [reveal my identity]," he said. "I want to work, I want to keep doing what I want to do. I don't want money. I don't want fame. I don't want adoration. I just want to be left alone."

Given that he owns as many bitcoins as legend says (several hundred million US dollars worth), what can the Aussie government really do in terms of tax evasion/what not? I mean, it's not like he was running a business, he CREATED the currency which makes up most of his assets, so he's not really laundering money or anything. Whatever the case may be, this is probably the most interesting tax evasion case of all time.

EDIT: Sorry to be a party pooper, but the guys over on /r/Bitcoin pointed out that the signature is pretty much meaningless, so we're still not sure that he's the creator of Bitcoin. There's a lot of evidence to show that he is, but we don't know for sure. All we know with absolute certainty is that this guy is a master troll.

NO. WAY. IN HELL.

this is all a forced shitstorm for the media to focus on TAX EVADING THROUGH CRYPTOCURRENCIES AND ALSO YOU CAN BUY DRUGS N SHIT to destabilize btc.

he is not satoshi.

all he done was convert an old existing input script into base64.. he did not sign anything nor did he prove anything.

you too can be satoshi (by doing what Craig wright did)

go to https://blockchain.info/tx/828ef3b079f9c23829c56fe86e85b4a69d9e06e5b54ea597eef5fb3ffef509fe?show_adv=true

copy the input script 3045022100c12a7d54972f26d14cb311339b5122f8c187417dde1e8efb6841f55c34220ae002206 6632c5cd4161efa3a2837764eee9eb84975dd54c2de2865e9752585c53e7cce01

google "hex to base64" paste in the input script convert

ask youself did you use a public key or private key. did it involve any sha or ECDSA process at all.. NO

i advise everyone to go to the media, contact section and message them of the fraud that craig wright is.

the only reason he is doing this is because he scammed some people into thinking he owns 1million bitcoins which he doesnt, but that blind ignorance caused those people to give him collateral based on the lie.. and now they are calling in the debt..

he fled australia to avoid immediate prosecution and is now trying to use the media as proof of ownership. without ever actually proving ownership

so please will everyone convert hex to base64 all the inputs of all satoshi funds to prove we are all satoshi..

craig wright deserves to be locked up because its not just identity fraud. the main thing is the millions of fiat he has scammed out of australian government and private investors using that id fraud, he has no bitcoin funds from 2009.

He seems like a bit of a dick. I don't buy it - he still hasn't actually proved anything...

thats impossible cause /u/vendor_bbmc knows everything and says he's dead

What about his friend who "died broke and in squalor, after suffering from infected bedsores" in 2013?

"His body was decomposing, there were wheelchair tracks of blood and fecal matter, open bottles of alcohol.."

Why would his buddy die in his own shit and piss if he was a millionaire?

There is no fucking way this guy is who he is claiming to be, not a chance of it. As others have said this is serving other agendas and he needs to be called out for his BS very loudly.

I get the vibe this guy is trying his damnest to keep himself out of the line.... God knows which kind of torture the secret service is practicing on this dude. The worst sin you could ever pull off to the powers that be is keep money hidden from them. Anyone under the enough pressure will break and do everything in their reach to make it stop.

Just some food for thought.

So, say I found these really awesome sea shells. But the sea shells were from a particular diving expedition I took into the middle of fucking nowhere, no nation can claim ownership of the area I gathered these sea shells from. I actually leave riddles for people to find where this particular stash of seashells is located. They find them little by little and now everyone can guess at where these seashells are.

Originally I just started finding them. Other people did too and liked them, so they traded them for small bits of money. I get bored of seashells and sit on the rest of my seashells and go about my business. Then people continued hunting for clues to find the remaining seashells until they're all found. Everyone knows there's only so many of these seashells, so eventually after giving them away to family and friends, people start grinding hard and spending lots of actual money to hunt down the last remaining seashells.

All of the sudden, they explode in value like the pet rock. People who originally got some seashells from me as gifts now think they're the bee's fucking knees and have a value much larger than anything anticipated. Some of the seashells people found early on are lost and gone forever. Now with even less seashells than we started, the intrinsic value of these seashells shoots way way up. And then some dirtbag decides to trade seashells for drugs or hookers and these particular seashells get a bad reputation.

In what fucking bizarre world do I have to pay taxes on something I found and gave away and gave instructions on how to find?

I don't want to live on this planet any more.
