Synapses:

In this video, Vin Armani discusses the latest on the Silk Road appeal with Lyn Ulbricht, mother of Ross Ulbricht, the original founder of the free market website Silk Road. Lyn also disputes a new book that uses the government narrative to villainize her son as a drug kingpin. She says the true story of the case is far more interesting with corrupt agents inside the site's administration and all of the dangerous precedents the case set.

Really good interview with someone close to the case. Highlights how corrupt the case against Ross truly was and has some good talking points on freedom in our digital age. Makes you angry that a case could be so corrupt and still have a successful conviction, she's right when she says this was all political.

The government just wanted to make an example of him. Little did they know they opened up the flood gates. The War on Drugs is a complete failure.

Was just about to post this.

I really enjoy this quote by /u/mrchaotica in the original thread:

Yes what they did was wrong but he still broke laws doesn't take a genius to figure out what happens if you break laws.

Without upholding the right of due process, the rule of law itself becomes meaningless and justice is replaced by tyranny.

The sad part about this is his family is calling for help on social media and her gov makes people so fearful to actually do so for fear of being another target on the dartboard.

The government should fear the people not the other way around. When the people fear their government it really calls into question what form of government they are actually living under.

he fucked up period....it's what happens to people like some of us. basically you should always be prepared to have your life thrown away so long as these unjust laws are still in place.

Can someone help me understand how they discovered the IP of the Iceland server?

And how did they then discover who he is? I know it had something to do with his "root nickname" which was frosty.

[2 Points] OzFreelancer:

I wrote a review of the book she refers to on allthingsvice.com if anyone's interested in the perspective of someone who knows the case pretty well

I'd hit that.

Life in prison is quite ridiculous.

Ironically, this whole drama is the best what could have happened for the Alphabay admins. Free advertisement, learn from SR's mistakes,...
