When you make things too complicated you can't have nice things. Torbox clearnet ip leaked.

Torbox leaked their clearnet ip during maintenance today. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post it here or not. I certainly can send it to someone for verification.

The real story here is that people are using anything other than XMPP/OTR or encrypted emails? Are you fucking crazy?!? /u/CannaXpress000 uses torchat, /u/Farmer1wastaken uses torbox, and AdventureTime uses bitmessage. Why?

Use what is proven to work, not what is proven to be broken time and time again. This is called progress, but it only works if you fucking pay attention.

(good q there - how can you tell if this is a phishing site or not?)

Bitmessage is generally pretty solid and shouldn't be lumped in with a centralized service like Torbox. Torchat is also a little different, since it's technically open source and decentralized as well, but I have heard of security problems with Torchat (best not to use it if you have very skilled adversaries that could potentially de-anonymize you).

However, I agree. OTR and PGP are the way to go, without question. Shit like Torbox is fucking retarded.

But I guess one can argue... shit cannot be proven to work unless people actually use it. There had to have been a time when PGP or OTR were unproven and possibly had issues, no?
