I really like the Beat Generation authors, specifically On the Road by Kerouac and Junkie by William S. Burroughs.

Maybe we should start an /r/DarkNetMarkets book club like the one on the SR forums!

If you are looking for non-fiction, the beat writers of the late 50's / 60's are great. Check out the Electric Koolaide Acid Test by Tom wolfe. (oh I see you already mentioned that. My bad)

My favorite books, some about drugs and some inspired by drugs, some just favorites of a drug user.
Ken Kesey (one flew over a cuckoo's nest)
Herman Hesse (Siddhartha, Steppenwolf)
Joseph Heller (Catch-22)
Hunter S Thompson(Fear and Loathing)
Aldous Huxley (Brave new world, Island)
Jack Kerouac
William Burroughs(Naked Lunch)
David C. Hanrahan (The first great train robbery)
Most of these are movies for those that don't like to read.

For those who are into drugs and science, the two latest books to blow my mind have been LSD: My Problem Child by Albert Hoffmann, and LSD: Doorway to the Numinous by Stanislav Grof. The first is a history and account of its creation with chemistry and anecdotes, and the second is a serious analysis of many hours of LSD therapy undertaken to comprehend the drug and its effects on different types of people, as well as its ultimate theraputic value. Both are facinating if you are at all interested in LSD.

For instance, Grof claims that one of his overarching goals was to ascertain LSD's common pharmacological effects, but in his many hours of study, he determined that there is not a single universal effect that happens every time in every subject. Not even dialated pupils. Everyone has different reactions to it.

Confessions of an English Opium Eater - Thomas de Quincey

on a similar note, anything by Samuel Taylor Coleridge. The first time I did opium I read Rime of the Ancient Mariner and Kubla Khan and it was just simply transcendent.

Check out "The Last Pirate" by Tony Dokoupil. Written about his father one of the biggest weed smugglers in american history... and his life (or lack of) with him. Really good read.

One that I highly recommend to anybody into psychedelics is The Cosmic Serpent, it's about Shamans in Peru that make and consume ayahuasca and the mystical side of these tribes. Super interesting shit and a pretty short read.
