Is converting btc to another cryptocurrency and back again as effective as a tumbler?

I know some people feel tumblers are unnecessary, but as someone who buys their coin with real info I don't mind the fee. I'm wondering if buying ether or something similar with btc and then buying new btc with that currency is an effective way to remove taint

As long as you use a VPN to access your exchange account, this is actually 100% safe and untraceable.. This is the method I recommend to everyone over using a traditional cost ineffective tumbler.

Also, you can play the markets and make a profit by doing this.

Why don't you just deposit and withdraw from localbitcoins or another exchange like bitfinex? Skip the currency conversion entirely.

Make sure you split up the amounts, so don't deposit 1btc and then withdraw near-1btc a little while later. Withdraw 0.4 then 0.6
