Seriously, fuck the war on drugs

Bullshit world we live in today.. Everyone should have safe access to any drug they like. Let it be a health issue for those who need it, not a criminal issue. You can't keep people away from something by prohibition or banning it. Why can't we tax all drugs to make revenue to fix our shitty roads and provide a better economy for everyone. Instead we throw the person in jail and us the taxpayers have to pay to keep them in their. (cops could have used their $$ and resources to go after a thief or murderer instead of a fucking plant).

I just want to smoke a g of my lovely mary jane, listen to music and play some GTA without the worry of incarceration or bullshit fines that could ruin my entire life. Fucking Christ. No worries though, I can get drunk off my ass, pass out and hope to god I'm laying down on my stomach so that I don't choke on my own vomit. Or I can purchase that cigarette at any gas station/grocery store that will likely get me hooked and give me cancer in 2-3 years.

i don't give a fuck if the drug is bad for my health. I'm an adult who should have access to drugs in a safe and tested way. Why should the government tell me what I should and shouldn't put in my body? Fucking police state.

Drug control is just a facet of the issue. The bigger issue is that this country will screw a persons whole life for a small amount of pot, but equifax, bpc, lehmann brother can screw with millions lives without any repercussions what so ever.

I still don't understand how the United States, leader of the free world, can justify locking people in FUCKING cages for a victimless crime. That's wrong tbh, someday future humans will look back and think damn we fucked up there - just as we say now about so much of the shit in our past.

[34 Points] None:

yeah man it sucks, i feel you. but hey, growing your own pot is easier now than ever thanks to the auto-flowering buds and special nutrient packs.

Preaching to the choir. I will say this though. I dislike consistant attack on alcohol users within the drug communites. "BOO HOO ALCOHOL IS EVILLLL!!! AND ITS LEGAL WHAAA" Fuck you motherfucker. You want people to stop judging for your drug of choice you need to back up of dissing alcoholics. Alcohol is a fun and fine drug in its moderation. Alcoholics are just like any other addict. A person in pain trying to ease their suffering via chemical modification of their system. Ether you offer your help in easing their pain and suffering, or you let them self medicate themselves. I dont care what drug they are using.

The War on Drugs is simply a way for alcohol, tobacco, and big pharma companies to eliminate competition...

[5 Points] dilatory_tactics:

It's a little late in the game to be mad at the criminalization of marijuana, because the legalization effort is pretty well under way. Move to Colorado or something.

The next battles worth fighting are LSD and Ecstasy. Probably coke as well, but I haven't tried it yet.

On this note: FUCK NIXON, FUCK REAGAN, FUCK BUSH. But Nixon particularly. Or let them have a presidential threesome.

[5 Points] DickCheeseKillah:

The war on drugs funds soooo much shit you have no idea and also created a fuck ton of jobs. Look at the whole DEA and most state police/ regular do a bunch of drug stuff as well as the ATF , ICE , DHS. All those money seizures no way there going to give that up. Not to mention all the free labor from the private prison economy. Drug war never ending y'all.

[2 Points] EatAssOnSecondDate:

All I seen was that you referred to smoking Mary Jane as doing drugs. Lost me there.

[2 Points] TroutEagle:

Lol. If you don't give a fuck about what drug you take and the health consequences then why should I give a fuck about helping you with your addiction? You knew the consequences so suck it up!

And what a hypocrites, of course you state the negatives those who drink alcohol and smoke tobacco yet you don't say anything about the consequences of weed or other drugs. This is why society doesn't take you guys seriously.

[1 Points] CognitiveDissident7:

I agree with you about ending the war on drugs but not about taxing them. The government steals plenty of money already, they don't need more that they'd probably just spend on bombs anyway.

[1 Points] CocaineNose:

You must live in a shitty place then? God bless the legalized states!

[1 Points] stilldogman:

PREACH IT!

[1 Points] Optimistic-angel1:

That's why I made a post saying all drug users/addicts and taxpayers who support the legal regulation and taxation of all drugs should get together and protest. It's not a war on drugs its a war on people, there not doing any harm to drugs but you watch cops and see them beating the shit out of people and sending dogs in to attack them.

The people that fight back against the cops and dea end up being made examples and end up dead or imprisoned for the rest of there life. It's really not even a war it's one sided you have a half gram of weed they can shoot you because your a dirty doper and it's justified but the cops tear down your door unannounced and you shoot them your fucked.

[1 Points] ZenDendou:

Lmao... it because parmacy wants to make money so they make sure that it all stay illegal so ppl buy their shift drugs that probably doesn't work half of the time. Look at cancer, instead of finding cures, they find more things that causes it.

Move to Canada, Ottawa just put in 2 p[laces where you can enjoy ANY drugs under professional supervision without needing to worry about the police.

I feel you. I need mj to function normally, it really helps with my ptsd, epilepsy and hallucinations. Like I can actually sort of get some chores done and interact with my family, normally I'm just fucked. Now my entire body is shaking as I'm running out, don't have a dealer and have to literally go outside searching for weed and could get done in.

I laughed at this line. You can't even convince the people of this sub to make things legal. When ever a post comes up with fentanyl, it is half met with people saying how terrible that drug is. How people selling it are horrible people and such.

Drug users can't even get on the same page about drug legality.

[-2 Points] evilpuppy67:

I don't believe that you're an adult. You sound like a child or just a flat out loser. How is the government stopping you from smoking pot and being an unproductive, lazy fuck? I know, make another post on Reddit, that'll do the trick. Maybe try Facebook next time champ.

[-2 Points] skeetskeet98:

I mean I agree, but this is a bit sensational don't ya think? nobody gets incarcerated over smoking a little bit of weed. sure you might get a fine if caught, but that surely would not ruin your life. and no, you will not get cancer after smoking cigarettes for 2 years lol. yes they are horrible for you and cause cancer, but not after 2 years....

[-1 Points] twenty3slan:

Actually this is a pretty ignorant thing to say. If you're only talking about weed then yea I agree, and even then on some levels I don't. It really all comes down to the people irresponsibly abusing the drugs, You got crackhead moms that will give their child to pedophiles just for a bump, lunatics on shrooms roaming the streets freaking people out, etc etc. I myself just can't drive after I smoke loud (im a lightweight) and i've almost been in a couple real time accidents. So no, don't fuck the war on drugs, There has to always be a balance.

[-4 Points] roomspace:

I definitely agree that the way drug policy is handled is complete bullshit but you can't deny the fact that the legalisation of recreational drugs would come with it's own set problems. Even with the plethora of info/education on the safe use of alcohol, people still abuse the shit out of it. The focus should be on greatly improving drug knowledge and breaking stigma before we even think about changing policies and laws.

With that being said, I wholeheartedly agree that the war on drugs is 100% going in the wrong direction and a crock of shit.

[-3 Points] 45QW65yrt3dsf:

Not a popular opinion around these parts, but governments have good reasons to want to prohibit drugs. Like it or not, your health and productivity affect the state and the rest of the populous.

If you live in a state with single-payer, capped, health care and you indulge yourself into a bad health situation, the government and all your neighbors end up footing the bill for your "bad" behavior. Not to mention the social and fiscal damage an intoxicated person can cause. Everyone in your immediate and even extended vicinity is subject to the negative consequences of your actions, the ones immediately visible to you, and the ones that are not.

I do agree with your general viewpoint and obviously the drug laws are 50-100 years behind reality at this point, but I don't believe a purely libertarian view of drugs is possible in societies. The system needs to do a lot better job of internalizing the negative consequences and not proceeding in ways that do more harm than good.

To reference the hypothetical you put forward. Until recently, and even now, if you wanted to use marijuana, you would likely consume the substance in smoke which you inhale into your lungs. A method which is directly linked to cancer, and other more benign negative health outcomes. A consequence of legalizing marijuana would almost certainly result in an increase in individuals smoking, which would almost certainly result in increased health care costs to treat these effects. Even in the completely unrealistic situation where everyone consumes their cannabis at home in a responsible environment, you would still get these negative societal outcomes. Now you could argue this negative is offset by harm-reduction in other areas, and while valid, I think would be ignoring the primary point.

If you look at things in a meta context you could even argue that certain populations having adopted certain drugs, or certain drugs contributing to certain socially held values might be the reason certain drugs are treated more harshly than others. America, for example, values productivity and work energy, potentially due to labor shortages during the relatively recent world wars which they profited extremely from, and could have done more so with more labor. That's why Americans might say things like, 'I'm so tired', "Wow, I'm really busy", as subtle brags when those states aren't really desirable; they are merely indicators that they are doing something society values so you should hold them in higher regard. From that standpoint drugs that promote lethargy would not be as valued by the society as highly as drugs that promote energy.

TL:DR- Things happen for a reason, and yes drug laws are fucked, but a completely liberal view of drugs is not reasonable either.

If we legalize all drugs and tax them, then there won't be anyone around, not high, to drive the heavy machinery building the roads, and provide better economy.
