I know that signing up for an email account via Tor is a real pain; most sites either won't accept connections via Tor, require JavaScript in their signup forms, or require you verify your new address by supplying your phone number or current email address. All of these make it very difficult to break the link between your real life identity and your online, privacy conscious persona.
My question is, would people be interested in buying email addresses of their choosing from the "big boy" email providers? Could be Gmail, Yahoo, AOL, and so forth, which you could either access via Tor Browser (once the accounts are setup and verified, none seem to care if you subsequently access them through Tor) or even with an ordinary email client (youd connect to their SSL-enabled services via Tor).
Seems to me that their ought to be interest in such a service; i'cw seen some people mention the pro'z of using Safe-Mail, and others bringing up the cons and it made me think probably the only reason that safemail gets any use is because it is "Tor friendly".
How about it? Would there be a market for a service where you 3 username choices you'd like for your email, and 24-48 hours later, an account is set up and verified with one of the big email providers, and you're furnished with the complete email address, password, and answers to any of the security questions that I may have had to fill in, all for a cost lower than a premium safe-mail account? And if you guys think that's a decent proposition, which market would be the optimal choice these days, being that I don't want to tie up thousands of dollars on vendor bonds for multiple markets...
Thanks for the input, and if this waan't the appropriate sub to ask this question, please let me know where I should have posted it.
Spammers have been buying and selling them for years. They even take paypal and mastercard.
