Why are prescription drugs so expensive?

I have a prescription for oxycodone for pain management... I dont sell it because I've seen it ruin lives... but why do they overchange prescription drugs?

I get 90 Oxys (the shit formula but whatever) for only 30 dollars per month. Yes I have gone doctor shopping.... but really... why do all the greedy people with easy access to prescriptions over charge their product

it's down to supply and demand. vendors will charge what people are willing to pay. if you had a serious physical addiction and didn't have easy access to your DOC, i bet you'd be willing to pay a higher-than-normal price to get your fix.

Well for one they usually only have access to a finite amount a month, they're all gonna sell pretty much no matter what, so you might as well get a good price for the. When I was dealing pre-tor back in 07 I got OC80s for 30 and would flip them for $75-$80, and they would sell out incredibly quick.

What I really don't understand is how I can get valium cheaper on the DNM then my friend gets from her doctor.

Pills are easy to conceal and are seen as acceptable. Your kid's grade school teacher could be addicted and seen as more acceptable than if they were shooting up heroine. Also people get addicted easy because they really don't know what they are taking. If they labeled it synthetic heroine, I believe less people would accept it.

Mormans, who do not drink coke because it has the "drug" caffeine in it, will take oxy because its prescribed by a doctor.

Don't get me wrong, I love opiates. You can pop a pill and it numbs physical pain. But you should only take it as a last resort. I smoke weed to deal with every day pain. If I am unable to stand because of the pain I will take an opiate. They should never be taken just to "deal" with pain. It may numb the pain but it steals your soul.

You don't realize the value of it until you are on them yourself. There is definitely the addiction aspect which adds a premium. But unless you've tried to get them yourself you don't realize how much trouble it is. Nowadays with databases it's hard to doctor shop anyway so if you need more than what even a crooked doctor is willing to scribe then you have to get them on the black market. So even before the drug databases you have to realize how much time is spent acquiring it from even a crooked doctor and pharmacy. It'll easily eat up your whole day. First gotta find one. Then when you do you'll be there for half a day bc everyone else is there too. Then you've gotta run around to half a dozen pharmacies to fill it. Now you've spent a day trying to get them. And that's for a reasonable month supply. If you need more you'd have to do this process all over again. If you work for a living then that's days you miss just trying to get it. Suddenly you are not just spending money on pills and doc visits but also lost wages. You can now see how expensive it really is acquiring on your own. Doctor shopping is near impossible now with all the databases. So you are left with this.

So the people who sell in any volume have to do this to scale. Hire a bunch of people to go do this. Not cheap.

i tried to fill a legit script of klonopin, i wanted brand name blue K's not the green generic. My insurance wouldnt cover it, they tried to charge me for 90 pills of the name brand blue K's 500 dollars. But then they ran my insurance and said it would be 425 "sorry we didnt run it before". Thats fcking ridiculous.

idk, but i have health insurance and last month was my first script for oxy 15's and i went to 30 pharmacies before it got filled. it was terrible the place i ended up getting them from was $5 each 15… i spent 700 plus the 400 doctor visit. he wouldn't let use my insurance. every major chain i went to told me to come back in a week…. it's fucking bullshit… but ya for me that's a big part of the reason why it's so expensive. barely anyone i know can use their insurance.
