UPDATE: Guy busted for large intl ecstasy pack. charges dismissed

So you guys may or may not remember this guy from a while back (clear net) https://www.deepdotweb.com/2015/02/22/fresno-man-indicted-for-purchasing-ecstasy-online/

Guy ordering INTL from canada to a Po box in a different name busted with large pack (261 grams) of ecstasy facing 20 years and $1,000,000 fine. Had priors for possession with intent. Seemed like he'd be fucked.

I decided to follow up, cause I'm always curious how this stuff turns out and it seems gwern hasn't been active on here recently (anyone know why?)

Turns out he had all charges dismissed. Wish i knew why, but figured it was interesting enough to share with you guys, maybe someone who knows how to get court transcripts can figure it out.

If you wanna see the dismissal yourself just type in his name "frembling" on the case information smart search here: (clear net gov site) https://publicportal.fresno.courts.ca.gov/fresnoportal/

If they can't prove he ordered it and he doesn't admit anything then they don't have a case.

Clearly he stuck to his guns.

His case by the state was almost definitely dropped because he pleaded GUILTY in federal court for this criminal act. He could be tried by both but in general, if the feds decide to prosecute, the state will generally drop the case.

He was facing 41-51 months from his federal case, but he ended up with 18 months imprisonment and 4 years of supervised release. The court recommended a minimum security FPC.

I swear some of you people are so fucking stupid sometimes. All fucking assumptions with no fucking facts. Remember what happens when you assume.

Either LE fucked something up in the investigation that made their evidence inadmissable in court, he knew people high up, had angood lawyer that was buddies with the judge, or he snitched on a dealer he knew irl

The only odd part in my opinion is #12 under standard conditions I couldnt copy paste it but it says he cant work as an informant unless first approved by court

Cali's overcrowded he's recommended for a min security camp or Lompoc and all he did was receive the package that's what they got him on

I'm not throwin around the word snitch cause it's a serious claim. To me it seems more that he got offered a deal for makin the feds job easy and he took that instead of fighting them

But that's just my opinion
