Nothing is untraceable once the government has you in their sights.
it's best if you (and everyone else) actually listen to the 50 minute podcast. I did. She stated that "following the money" was easier when mixers and tumblers were new and essentially immature technologies. She's fully aware that the technology is getting better and making it harder to follow. She is also aware that it will come to a point one day where LE will need to use other investigative techniques to bust people. For example, targeting other points of failures in illicit trades.
When LE suspects you are involved in a darknet crime, however... no mixer or tumbler will save you anyway. LE can deposit 5 BTC to your wallet and then later show a ~5 BTC withdraw on LBC, for example.
I don't ever recall her implying "mixers and tumblers don't work". That may have been the case related to crimes she's help solve years ago, but she didn't say that about today's crimes. She said many times in the podcast that darknet criminals are smart and know how to cover their tracks.
Some people misunderstand what she says (based on comments in other articles I read) as being anti-cyptocurrency and desiring to hold developers of cryptocurrencies accountable (lock everyone up, right?). People hear what they want to hear to confirm their own biases.
