"Mike Gower, CEO of the Union County General Hospital in Blairsville, was apprehended after a nine-month long, multi-state Drug Enforcement Agency investigation that involved fraudulent prescriptions painkillers, authorities said.

Union county deputies, DEA agents, and North Carolina law enforcement said they served six arrest warrants and in addition to Gower's arrest, four of his family members and two doctors were apprehended in the sting.

One of the physicians, Dr. James Heaton was arrested at his Union County medical practice near the hospital and accused of writing fraudulent prescriptions painkillers. Police told Channel 2 that Heaton wrote more than 15,000 fraudulent prescriptions for painkillers, like oxycodone, for Gower over a three-year period."

When you have real pain issues and you can't get your doctor to prescribe you painkillers, you can thank asshats like those folks for giving the DEA a justification for harassing honest doctors about their prescription writing.

There was just a women doc in California busted for writing thousands of scripts. 12 people died, which isnt really her fault but you would think after the 121st couple deaths your morals would stricken up.

1 doctor in my greater metro area is the hole reason my small(2k)town has a hero8n epidemic. We all make our own decisions so it isn't all his fault, but if he was never around there wouldn't of been thousands of cheap 80s, so many pills the patients(dealers) could only charge 15 max. Then boom he gets locked up and what floods my semi-rural town HEROIN. Who know maybe I still would of been a j7nkie without him, chances are I wouldn't have though.

Now the son of a bitch is maxing out being a Suboxone doc who wont take insurance. I have no clue how he still has a license or how he has a older the IRS because he has been cash only since I've known him(11yrs). He comes off as shisty so I'm just assuming he is cooking the booksm
