Friend sends large pack of mj from California to Texas. Overnight. Fake return address. My name. Status at 5pm is accepted then sometime left sort facility at 2am PST is saying it is "departing" from the third facility. Some time today around 1 or 2pm CST it went to "Seized by Law Enforcement". Came home. Cleaned house. No sign of trouble. What can I expect?
Not sure what "large pack" means, but I presume you mean distribution weight. If so, there's a good chance you're seriously fucked. If you tracked the pack using your unshielded home/cell IP (even once) then you've already incriminated yourself and you're definitely fucked.
You need to get the best available drug lawyer in your city on retainer RIGHT THE FUCK NOW and explain the situation to him. Spend the $3k now so he can go into action now trying to prepare your defense and keep you out of jail, because you won't have much time or opportunity for clear thinking after the cops show up with the search warrant. If both he and you take advantage of this narrow window of time to prepare, you're much more likely to walk away from this unscathed. A lawyer can explain/excuse/deny/negotiate this thing away about 1000x better than you can.
If this was obvious personal weight that was seized (under a QP) and OP was careful not to electronically expose himself while he checked tracking, I wouldn't be telling him to hire a lawyer. But since I suspect we're talking about a pound or more with aggravating factors I'd say he has no choice but to lawyer up and brace for the worst. They have your name/address on the pack, they have the weight in the pack and they probably even have proof you tracked the pack and knew the shipper. The cops are coming, it's just a question of when. Stop posting here immediately and take immediate countermeasures!
Edit: To those saying I'm overreacting and OP doesn't need a lawyer, I'd argue that if he merely gets a knock & talk he should consider himself exceptionally lucky. The vast majority of the nationwide CDs are for pound+ packs of weed with bad stealth/OPSEC that literally fall into the cops' hands (the famous "low hanging fruit") just like OP. If he compounded his exposure by accessing the USPS.com tracking form from an insecure or personally identifiable device, he's in especially deep shit, and potentially so is his anonymous friend; with even a single IP record tied to OP they will be able to prove he knew about the pack and was in communication with the heretofore-unknown shipper. This presents the cops with evidence of both criminal conspiracy and criminal intent. They'd be stupid to ignore a chance to "trade up" and nab the seller, who's bigger and closer to the origin point of those pounds... all they need to do is "motivate" OP to cough up the dox.
"All we need is a name and a city. You won't be required to testify, and this whole mess will just go away. If you refuse, you'll go down for the full felony weight, plus obstruction of justice for refusing to name your co-conspirator & destruction of evidence for the little cleanup operation you did on your computer after we can prove you saw the seizure notice. You're looking at the better part of a decade, son. That friend of yours fucked you over and put you in this room! He won't care if you rot in prison. Why ruin your life for a little bit of weed when it's his fault you're here anyway? Just a name and a city and you can go home right now and forget this shit ever happened." You'd be amazed how many guys get scared and fall for that. THAT is why you hire a lawyer sooner rather than later.
Even if OP gets lucky and they decide not to pinch him now, their computers will never forget his name after this and he can expect (at a minimum) a DEA file and that address to be fully burned until he moves away.
