I messed up pretty bad, and now with PGP have a way to fix it. But I need some minor help with the details.

I need to prove who I am on an account on a DNM. (I made a major noob goof, locked myself out); They've asked that I do this:

please send us a pgp signed message with that pgp key from that account

I'm not 100% sure what they need me to do here. Do they want me to write a message, then do "sign/encrypt clipboard with public keys"?

That makes the most sense to me, but I'm a little lost and unsure if that's correct. Part of me thinks that even if I do that, they can't really tell that's from my key. But I'm very new to PGP and so I could be wrong.

Any help would be appreciated!

They will be able to verify it's you because you're supposed to be the only person with access to the private key someone would need in order to sign/encrypt a message from the person who owns the public key the market has on flile. Using the public key you gave them previously, they can verify that you own the private half of the key used to sign this message to them, and thereby verify your identity.

PGP is a beautiful thing.

When you set up your account you should have added your public key to your profile. Write a plain-text message, and just sign it. No need to encrypt.

You use the markets key and encrypt a message stating; as requested this encrypted signed message confirms that i am the owner of this account. Sign the message and send it off to them so they have proof its you, they will then unlock your account. I think that's what you're asking.
