What's the stop vendors saving the addresses of all their clients for future bargaining with LE in case they get caught?

Title is basically self-explanatory. How would anyone know if this was going on? What would be the reason for a vendor NOT to do this even?

Well, hopefully by the time they get to my 1/4oz of pot I will have disposed of it in a series of small fires

Nothing at all. Some most likely do.

That information proves how much product they were moving and implicates the degree of the operations scale.

[7 Points] al_eberia:

The records would indicate exactly how much they had being selling which would be very useful to prosecutors pushing for a higher sentence. That and the fact that vendors seem to be very bad at keeping information hidden which is why you see the cops talking about finding lists of addresses after the arrest. If they can get it for free off your seized computer they will only use it to fuck you.

[1 Points] NightSymphony:

whos to say you actually sent the package to your address?

[1 Points] None:

I made a vouch that if I where to ever get caught by LE my house and computers would be burned down. Thankfully I'm those type of old school vendors that write down things so if they're where something to happen I could burn down the book and take out the computer hard drivers and destroy them.

LE doesnt have the time or resources to go after a vendors customers plus the burden of proof needed for a conviction of the buyer is again not worth the time or effort for LE I would think. Im sure they would make some examples of a few to use as a scare tactic. Also wouldnt local law enforcement for the busted vendor need to bring in a federal entity like the fbi because it would be out of local LE hands? I would see the federal entity telling the local LE its not worth going after these small time buyers. Idk just my opinion and I am not a lawyer.

We have seen in multiple places that vendors do keep addresses. Most of the ones that have been arrested kept spreadsheets.

[1 Points] DaMenehune:

Don't use your real name. Use a drop. Don't worry.

[1 Points] None:

The fact that it would be evidence linking them to crimes and may result in their successful prosecution where they may have been let go otherwise.......

Vendors are best off to have as little data as possible. They shouldnt even keep buyer pgp keys around for long.

[1 Points] Sofakingcoolstorybro:

If you're buying in bulk it's going to multiple drops. If it's not, you're an idiot. As far as vendors saving addresses, I wouldn't be surprised if they kept the addresses of their bulk buyers. But I like to imagine it isn't for malicious purposes but except to be able to know precisely where to send it to. Or they have a plan B and plan on rolling on everyone for their personal orders.

[1 Points] SesameStMafia:

Negotiate with who? Some LE agents who's kids probably buy E and pot off the DNMs and who cant really do anything for you anyway once you get to that point.

What would be the reason for a vendor NOT to do this even?

It would be used as evidence of drug dealing

It wouldn't work. Cops don't do a deal with the Mr Big to catch drug customers. Its the other way round.

We are too busy to make copies of names and addresses.

The cops aren't going to charge you for a historical weed purchase, which an informant claims to have sold to you

You customers don't want us to. In this sanitized modern drug trading method, your name and address are your only tiny worries, so you inflate them out of all proportion.

When the police confiscate a vendor's laptop, you seem to think he WANTS names and addresses on there. But he wont be cutting deals because the cops are getting them anyhow

[1 Points] I_am_your_granddad:

Well your granddad thinks nothing is stopping them at all. Some might keep it but think about it like this they want to catch all of us but they want the big ones more. So whats more attractive a small fish or a big fish ?

[1 Points] 666fun:

Absolutely nothing. Anyone who thinks that vendors aren't keeping records is deluding themselves.

Some might keep buyer info just to have a means of contact when a market goes titsup, which happens far too regularly.

Others might be sloppy.

No matter. They're not getting off any worse if LE busts them after a few controlled buys, if they also happen to have a list of customers when that happens. The controlled buys are evidence enough, market feedback is better documentation of sales volume than an address list.

And so many people seem to think that LE would stop the busts at the "big fish". Not a chance. If a big fish can ID a dozen middle sized vendors, that's leverage they have. No one will expect those vendors to go out of business after the bust of a supplier, they'll just find a new supplier and do business as usual.

Look at all the busts after XanaxKing went down, for instance.

So yeah, there's no reason to believe vendors won't retain addresses, no way to verify it either. Hats off to those that really do dispose of such info, but the ability to actually verify that is nil.

[1 Points] Hank_Vendor:

Common sense stops them. In that everyone on earth knows you don't arrest drug dealers to flip them and arrest their customers.

Its the other way round!
