Why would any market stay open right now?

Agora is closing because they believe they can be deanonymized. And we know for sure they are making more money than any other market. So they have a lot to lose by shutting down. Well wouldnt the same shit hold true for all the other markets? I'm expecting quite a few exit scams once these other markets feel like they've got as much of the agora refugees as they think they will get and head for belize.

Why would they stay open?

Because they're run by egotistical little pricks who think they're bullet proof.

The only way to mitigate this attack as far as I know it's changing servers constantly, or investing in enough TOR nodes that once they're fully trusted by the network you can start excluding nodes you don't control.

Agora was already doing the first option and decided that might not be enough anymore.

There's been no unexplained increase of nodes since this study came out, so we know none of the DNMs did the second option.

If you aren't encrypting your info you're a goddamn moron. I think just about everyone here, if they thought about it for an instant, could name three DNM's that are stupid enough to ignore what's going on. Not only will we see some DNM(s) pull a runner, but I also think we'll see some LE fruit pruning.

Why would they close when demand just skyrocketed?

They may not have the same vulnerabilities as Agora, or they are just stupid.

There's also the possibility that Agora is blowing smoke out their asses and there really isn't a tor-wide vulnerability.

I'm just saying check the facts if that's possible how many accounts did agora have and how many inactives did they have in six months with small change left over then how many active members couldn't be bothered pulling out coin less than five dollars now multiply that buy by how long they've been in operation maybe the maths will point that they made more coin cleaning the couches looking for lost coin than when there active none of us know the amount of limbo coins or how long they'll stay down.

Answer: $$$$$$$$

Most likely they have trips to let them know if the site is compromised and/or contigency plans to get the fuck out.

I'd have a go bag and thermite mounted to my hard drives along with 50 BTC in a cold storage wallet somewhere (after tumbling).

I honestly think agora is a sort of exit scam to clean up inactive bitcoins and reopen reputation untouched
