Does LE really care?

Does law enforcement really allocate the presumably limited resources they have trying to sieze apprehend and convict recreational users of psychedelics like us? Say some cyber guy at the FBI stumbles upon my TOR browsing history (for arguments sake) is that person really going to dedicate time and energy trying to "get me off the streets and behind bars" as it were.. I am using various psychedelics to embark upon a spiritual journey and develop a greater appreciation for life. Do our type really need to be paying for Bitcoin in cash, in person, and at a premium for optimal privacy? Do we really need to be spending money on burner phones and hard drives in order to evade detection? I'd love to hear what everyone has to say about their own personal experience with LE.

Also, isn't it a bit of a conundrum that, in trying to gain greater anonymity, we might subsequently provoke suspicion from LE? If one goes to immense lenghts to ensure his privacy, wouldn't it then follow that it the eyes of LE, that person REALLY has something to hide, and in turn raise some eyebrows in Langston or wherever.

You can't know and you are gambling if you dont follow usual opsec. These rules have been made from learning from past convictions. People went to prison for small amounts so best is to make it as hard as possible for them to get evidence for the court room. That means don't use tor on windows, use correct procedure when buying btc. You won't get caught because of some cyber guy at the fbi, but if your pack gets intercepted for example and they take your pc and phone you are fucked when using windows. cyber opsec is for helping when irl opsec fails.

Don't assume they don't it's dangerous.

Assume they do and protect yourself accordingly.

Depends on city... my town is pretty laid back when it comes to lsd, mdma, and dmt and phycs in general. Heard storys of someone getting pulled over saying I have lsd and the cops just put it back in the guy pocket.

We have a HUGE meth and H problem and with lots of Alcoholics here cops seem not to care about kids on 10g of molly or a vial of L... sure its cop dependent here. But luckly we have no horror stories of guys taking shrooms and jumping out of windows. Or taking acid and shopting a school so we have always been pretty liberal. But i heard even 500g of mdma of CP's stuff isnt that bad... when frats are getting busted with 1.5kg and 10k pressies around the sametime soooo YRMV

People who LE go after are most likely either low hanging fruit or the big boys, like Ross Ulbrict or Team Trust.

You have it backwards. Having better opsec doesn't make you more of a target for suspicious behavior, it makes it more of a pain in the ass for LE to target you, so they're less likely. Don't be a low hanging fruit.

they care about catching users because they know users can lead them to suppliers. They have no qualms about threatening YOU with decades in prison in order to get every piece of information out of you on your sources for drugs. They have no problem ruining your life, tearing apart your family and destroying your future if it COULD lead to catching a supplier one day.

Now let us help you to help yourself. Turn yourself in and confess. Why make this hard on yourself? Let us help you ;-)

free men are paranoid the rest just work for police

look under your bed - LE

Convict? Impossible to say, but probably not. But they'll offer you a plea deal for some sort of pre-conviction diversion program, which turns you into a profit-generator for a couple years of probation. And you'll take it too, because they'll threaten conviction, and you really don't want that.

Once you're on that, it's exceedingly easy to fuck up and go to prison for a long time. One failed piss test? Prison. You're also stripped of your 4th amendment rights and they can search your computer, house, car, or person at will.

With all this fent shit theyare starting to care yeah.

I have a friend of friend that is a public defender, he said he has never heard of anyone ever being prosecuted for darknet market stuff and he was familiar with Silk Road, but said all that stuff would be at the federal level and everyone he deals with from cops to the ADAs are too stupid to even comprehend how the DNM works let alone prosecute a case based on it.

So basically if what you are doing would warrant federal prosecution, worry about it. If not, probably still safe to worry but realistically won't happen.

I don't think they care but it is still something to take serious if you are going to do it.

IMO, the main threat is LE and customs - not the NSA. Depending on your use of DNMs (social supply, personal use, dealing), adjust your OPSEC accordingly.

A key takeaway from the last few years is that your OPSEC fuckups will come around and bite you in the ass. LE is in possession of probably all messages from SR and SR2 and they often get a customer list when arresting a vendor. One slip-up along the way and they have your name and activity.

Sent BTC straight from an exchange once? Google blockchain analysis. Most exchanges are capable of flagging suspicious activity and are compliant if LE come knocking.

Sent your address unencrypted once? Boom, they now have you identity and purchase history because you used the same profile.

Will proper OPSEC make you a person of interest? Doubt it. LE is interested in what illegal shit you did. What counts as enough illegal shit to be a person of interest? Depends on policy and priorities and they are subject to change. An example is what Swedish police did during Hyperion. They flagged 3.000 names likely from vendor databases.

DNM deals aren't your typical deals. Their timespan is days between purchase and consumption, and the evidence lasts far longer. Offline you only have to worry about the few minutes or hours between buying a gram and stuffing it up your nose. Plan accordingly.
