I went to the pharmacy last night to pick up my medications, only to find that my bank account was completely drained. I got ahold of the bank and it looks like my card was skimmed. Yes, the bank will reverse the fraudulent charges and I will eventually get my money back. But for now, I'm broke and out of my meds and a few other things that I need. So, to the people who defend the actions of carders, please tell me again about how it only hurts the banks and not innocent consumers...?
Edit- Thank you to everyone who gave advice and shared their stories as well. And to the few people who are trying to defend the act of carding as a victimless crime, screw you. When you wake up one morning and check your bank account only to find that it's been completely wiped out, maybe then you'll come around.
No you are correct. It obviously hurt you in the short term in that it'll take some time to get your money back. But some people believe that corporations are the ones who absorb fraud, taxes, whatever. They don't. The end user/customer is the one who absorbs it. I forget the number, but fraud is extremely costly and those costs are passed on to us in forms of higher fees, interest rates, etc.
