A community-driven DNM

Hey guys!

I've been watching the DNM situation for about 2 years now. I've been a regular user of DNMs and I'm shocked about how actually nothing much happened since the first DNM started. Many of the available DNMs are either insecure or difficult to use (at least for new users). Some of them get seized, some of them scam the people. I want a DNM which is easy to use, secure and offers me as many features as I need. When I want to buy something, I don't want to scroll through hundreds of offers. I want to quickly find what I'm looking for, I want to buy it easily and I don't ever want my coins to be stolen/lost due to seizure. That's what I was thinking about the last few weeks. Why don't I just set up a DNM which covers all this? I want to. As I'm an experienced developer and somewhat a "hacker", I know much about how such a system has to be developed and how I can protect it. Yet, I don't want to go this road on my own. I want to involve the community as much as possible. You are the one who will maybe use this DNM later. So I think, the best choice is to let you help me with this.

I already thought a lot about how the infrastructure should be set up and about how I should code all the stuff. Now I got to a point at which I want to ask you about what exactly you want in a DNM. A DNM developed for and by the community which uses it.

So far, I came to the conclusion that I (at least at first) only want drugs to be sold there. I don't want to see counterfeits, stolen or faked ID cards or anything else which harms , harmed or is intended to harm other people. Maybe this will change in future, but I will let this decision to be up to the community. My plan is to publicate the source code at some point, so the whole community can work on it. This will only happen after a thorough auditing to make sure there won't be any security issues caused by the publication of the source code. Right now, not that much is finished. I finished the base of the code and now I'm working on the webpage itself, but before putting anything online I want to ask you for your advise. What do you expect from a new-generation DNM? How should it be built up? Which features do you want? How do you want the DNM to look like?

Everything's up to you! I'll even let you choose our domain name. I've chosen a few which are well-readable. Now it's up to you to chose the one you like the most. Which one can you remember well? There's a poll for that (attention, clearnet link): https://strawpoll.me/3021175

As you see, I even involve the community at such parts. I want to involve the community as much as I can. If you don't like the name, suggest a new one. Everything's up to you, really.

I'm looking forward to hear your opinions and ideas. :)

Best regards.

My advice? Don't live in the USA. Don't register for your server with your gmail account. Don't get involved with vendor affairs (unless you're banning an obvious scammer.) Uhh... GLHF.

IMO it'd be better to work on an already existing project rather than starting yet an other. But if you start your own we will meet in about a year again whey you have an alpha version out.

BTW strawpoll won't work over Tor

Just make a non-javascript version of torbazaar

Bad idea. You're going to make a secure darknet market in a month? By yourself??

Are you going to have centralized escrow? (If you say yes, you need to scrap the project right now) Why not centralized escrow? Because SR1, SR2, Sheep, Atlantis, Budster, Cantina, Utopia.

Do you realize that running a market is so much more than just making a website? What's your plan for evading the FBI? You do realize that they will keep tabs on you.

I hope you made and access this reddit account over Tor. If not, you should know that Reddit stores your IP address indefinitely. LE could go to Reddit and demand your IP, figure out where that IP is, go to your ISP and demand your name and address. Then they'll be watching you before you even launch.

Companies that make millions and billions of dollars yearly have whole teams of developers and they still get hacked. But you are going to make a secure site by yourself.

I'm being very negative here. I'm negative, because this is a bad idea. I don't want to dissuade you because I want our community to grow. But I do want to tell you what you're in for.

So an opensource market would be good, but I think there is no good with also wanting to run it. An opensourse DNM codebase would be good for the community. Make it simple and well documented then it will se implemetation.

de-centralized marketplaces e.g. OpenBazaar is the future - contribute to this rather than making yet another normal marketplace.

join one of the projects that are out, dont start your own by urself and expect people to get excited about an idea...especially here, cynics and trolls.

i'd suggest u find one of the ones alpha or beta testing now, and try and do some submissions on githubs or something if they have em...show some initiative and go reach out on boards they are posting on.

its alot of work and starting from scratch looking for people to help might not be the best route atm.

Finally someone with their head screwed on, think everything through before beginning development like this and you'll go far. Every other site has seemed to be rushed and with minimal function required just so the owners can make money without thinking about the problems the users to through with the site, I'll tell SWIM to contact you later.

I applaud those who are determined to keep drugs, weapons, and counterfeiting separate in a DNM. Although you don't sound too set in this effort it's a good start in my world.

Most importantly, de-centralized escrow is the only way going forward my friend. The initial base of vendors and buyers you will need to establish the site have been burnt enough in this regard.

[1 Points] None:

I think you should have multiple domains. That wat if one goes down, the public can just use another. Sort of like EVO.
