Are your vendors replying with gpg messages ?

I'm trying to communicate with vendors only with encrypted messages, even for information requests, as we never know to what hanfs the server will fall into one day

Problem is that for me, most are replying plain text in a way that it's easy to get what the question was

How are you guys communicating or avoid that? (besides of asking them each time)..

Thanks

I only encrypt sensitive info such as mailing addresses. I was told by a reputable vendor that chit chat doesn't need to be encrypted.

It's good that you're being safety conscious, however asking questions isn't illegal, if you have intentions of buying or not. Most things related to the product are listed in the item description anyway so there shouldn't be an issue, also in the case of a seizure LE won't be interested in product questions.

Vendors have a busy schedule getting through sometimes hundreds of orders a day and replying to messages in between, by encrypting information such as simple questions you are slowing down the process and it may really annoy them and you may even be ignored. Stick to only encrypting sensitive info, there won't be an issue even if your plain text messages are looked at, just don't put anything personally identifying out there.

Use temp.pm for simple questions or information requests and the vendor should reply in kind.

Not really any need to encrypt unless it's sensitive, I learned that early on when the same thing that is happening to you, happened to me. I just figured it was maybe a nuisance for them and turns out, that's exactly what it is.

It's probably good that we like to pretend were spies and shit. We're a thoughtful and polite bunch

"I don't know of this is a security risk or not but I'll go out of my way to encrypt everything so there is no chance of anything going wrong"

And the vendors are just like

"Nah it's Gucci Mayne".

Truly a beautiful community we'be built here I must say.

The majority of vendors will actually get irritated if you encrypt non-sensitive information with PGP.

I feel the same way when a vendor sends me some shit that is encrypted but doesn't need to be. It's just a waste of time. Law enforcement seeing stuff like "Has my order shipped?" and stuff does not bring them more than 0.01% closer to finding you

I just avoid chit chat if at all possible. An email/message trail can be used as evidence when things go wrong, even if it doesn't seem important.

I don't ask unnecessary questions because, yes there can be a security/privacy issue.

I always send all my requests and/or preferences clearly and detailed and state that a reply is unnecessary.

And I always encrypt and ask that any replies be encrypted. It only adds a couple seconds.
