How come Pandora, Sheep, BMR and Tor Marketplace used to be available on the clearnet, I remember being able to easily access them although you could still never get to SR, would the bitcoins have kept you safe?
Wasn't this dangerous?

i know you could access them using the .onion.to trick. but that's never safe and should only ever be used, if at all, for simple browsing purposes. perhaps they had clearnet landing pages that you're remembering?
I don't think any of them were available on the clearnet.
I know a few had sites that basically told people how to get Tor and then listed the market's onion url. I think TorMarket (I could be wrong) had a clearnet site that listed the listings on the market so people could easily browse but all of the illegal stuff had to be done on Tor.
Am I remembering this wrong?
Also you might have been using an onion.to link which basically allows you to access certain onion sites through your normal browser without anonymity.
