USPS fuckup, what to do?

Hi guys,

I'm from outside the US and recently ordered from the US. The vendor send the package as international, but someone at USPS decided to send it national, as the ZIP-Code of my town is the same as of some village in the US.

now my package is on it's way to bumfuck, nowhere, USA and I have no clue, what will happen once it arrives there. Did something like that happen to any of you? Did USPS notice it's error and delivered the package nevertheless? or are there any channels I could use to inform USPS about this, without knowing where the package is actually from?

thanks in advance, maybe someone had something like that already.

This did happen to me before with an military item.

I'm sorry but the only way is contacting USPS and explaining the situation and telling them the package was meant to be sent internationally. Just don't mention it was drugs.

Actually, the zip code is only for telling the post office where to send it initially. Once it gets to the sorting center for that zip code the post office will realize it's intended to go to you and forward it to you.

Be aware that if the vendor only paid for domestic shipping there may be an amount due on delivery and you're likely to need cash or money order for that purpose.

the zip doesnt matter itll probaly take a little longer but i doubt there is a street and address the same as yours in that town... so theyll probally notice the screwup

I’ll tell you a little secret about zip codes: They’re meaningless!

I had a domestic ebay package get misrouted thru Puerto Rico once, I live in the pacific northwest US. They'll get it to you.

You’ll still probably get it. Just wait it out.

You just wait.

It'll just bounce around until it makes it to your country. USPS is good at sending shit on the wrong plane, but they eventually re-route it to where it's supposed to go.

dispute the dumbass vendor, unless you fucked up with the address

Wait but I wouldn’t chase it, good luck!

"some village in the US" haha we don't have those here. Or castles. Just call them with the tracking info and tell them it needs to be rerouted.
