Do the police commonly search your address if you've had an interception and arrest at a po box?

In the USofA...

I'm sure no one can know for sure, but is it pretty much a given that your house will get searched if you get a pack intercepted at a PO box? Not a love letter interception, one where thay actually catch you red handed driving away with the dope in your posession.

Or are the courts more reasonable than that since they already got you in posession of the only illegal substances they would reasonably suspect you of having?

Anyone have any experience with this?

Did you get popped at the PO? How did it go down?

Over here in blighty if you get caught on the street with over the caution amount they'll search your house as you may have more. Makes sense, ramps up the charges if you have.

Source: happened to me, oh and plenty of friends.

There is no definite answer here, however I'm inclined to believe that they would at least try to get a warrant to search your house.

Nope. Not unless you raise hell about the package, or you're already being looked into.

Mail is just that... Mail. I can one day just decide I hate you and everything you love, get an ounce of my dankiest weed, throw it in a couple ziplock bags, throw a fake return address on it and toss it in a blue box addressed to you.

Package gets seized, you get a intercepted, bam.

All the cops have proof of is that someone mailed you drugs and you accepted the package, not that you knew what was in it, or that you ordered it. Maybe you just thought it was a surprise christmas gift. Any good lawyer could prevent that from being probable cause to search your house.

However if you've got priors.. or they're already looking into you because you fucked up elsewhere.. yea, they're going to search your shit.

There is an almost definite chance that they are working to get a warrant to search your house, if they are given the warrant then yes.

Consult a criminal defense attorney. They won't care and you'll get a firmer answer.

Fuck yeah they will more than likely search your domicile if you got popped at a PO Box. Cops want to pad charges with as much shit as possible. They will throw everything at you they can. If they can gain access to search your home they probably will. Of course, it might all depend on amounts and shit like that and whether or not cops feel its worth their time, but I think the safe assumption is that you're house will be searched should your pack get intercepted at a PO Box. One reason why your house should be clean while having packs in transit. Plus, they may not be able to make the original charge stick. There is some plausible deniability when receiving shit through the mail. I'd venture to say that a hot shot prosecutor would rather go to trial with a slam dunk case of finding shit in your home vs a charge where the only evidence is having a package in your possession you just picked up at the post office.

Unless you are on parole or something they will have to get a search warrant. It's highly unlikely (or fucking better be) that a judge will approve one on a basis of "we caught this guy with drugs before, so he might have them again."... Non lawyer spokesperson.

EDIT: I read it again and I guess you were asking if they are going to search your house after being arrested outside of it. They will need another warrant for this, but might be easier to get if they bother. Probably depends on the size of the bust, just personal or guns/ very large amounts.

Edit: I'm very sorry, I did not correctly read your post. I did not realize that you were talking in the scenario that you had already been caught doing something illegal. You did not state what the substance was or how much of it (I would have to assume it's a heavy package for them to take such interest to stakeout and arrest on the spot), and the law does vary a bit state to state, so without knowing the exact specifics it would be hard to say how exactly LE would react. I can only say I hope you make it out okay. The prison system in the USA is already so messed up, filled with tons of people with low level drug offences. I do not have the knowledge at my disposal to really be of much use, so I just wanted to say good luck, I hope things go in your favor.
