Yahoo secretly scanned all users' incoming emails: Report

Yahoo secretly built software in 2015 that let it search the incoming emails of its hundreds of millions of users on behalf of the U.S. government, Reuters reported Tuesday. The tech titan's previously unreported use of custom software to eavesdrop on its users was done without the knowledge of its chief security officer and despite the wishes of several senior executives, two former employees told Reuters on condition of anonymity. Rather, CEO Marissa Mayer secretly conceded to a surveillance order issued by U.S. intelligence officials and directed Yahoo's engineers to build an application that searched all its users' arriving messages for an unspecified string of characters, according to Reuters.

Wouldn't expect any less from the CEO who spent an ungodly amount of money buying tumblr... Of course she would let people get spied on

This is why I'm so paranoid with cell phones these days constantly asking for permissions to access virtually every corner of my device....I can't even fart without freaking out thinking that someone, somewhere is listening or watching.

I'm just glad the US is a shining beacon of freedom and Democracy and not a fascist police state. Otherwise I'd be worried right now.

Does anyone actually still use Yahoo for email?

They must've saw my penis a lot

Another nail in the coffin of Yahoo. And Marissa's career dissipation meter going into overdrive.

I mean is anyone honestly surprised?

In theory, Sigaint could be doing the same shit (hardly likely, but just in theory) but we still PGP sensitive stuff over their servers... or at least, you should.

Can't trust these hoes.

Yahoo and Hotmail are well known to be LE playground long ago. If I want my mail to stay private I wouldn't use Gmail too.
