suspicious to buy $500+ worth of stamps with cash?

would this look odd? buying $500+ or $1,000+ worth of priority mail stamps with cash at the post office?
would that be suspicious? i want to go into the post office as little as possible. i prefer to stock up on things.

Yeah through the grapevine I heard your local postoffice employee is actually a covert CIA agent who has been waiting for 20+ years for this moment, for you to come in with some cash to buy stamps so they can arrest you.

The fuck you on about? They'll probably think you're a dumbass for throwing down 1 grand for stamps, but that's about it.

Well a little bit, so to alleviate any concerns they may have. You should tell them that it's definitely not to send drugs, especially not internationally...

Go to multiple post offices.

why buy that much at one location? cool thing about post offices is that they're everywhere, some cities have multiple even.

I'm sure somebody's gonna come in this thread and be all condescending, saying "it's just stamps buy all you want yada yada yada" and while they're right, I feel like large cash transactions like that might stand out in poeple's memories. buying $100 worth of stamps with cash isn't that farfetched, buying $1000 with cash is a little stranger.

Nothing terribly bad will happen. If they raise eyebrows and come up with some excuse for you to pay with card, kindly decline and leave. I know that in Canada, many shops such as Staples and Shoppers Drug Mart sell rolls of 100 stamps for cash.

~ Much love

Just order it in small quantities over a certain period of time.

Dress up nicely. If anyone asks, say you work in real estate and sending documents by priority is a requirement for the job and looks more legitimate.

[1 Points] fantasticnameuser:

There are a billion reasons a person would buy a ton of stamps. Nobody would have any reason to think "this must be for drugs".

I wouldn't buy that much at one time, but I bought $100 worth one time and they asked me why I wanted that many. And I said it was a present for my grandfather who collected stamps lol. But yea the lady flat out asked why I was buying so much. and she had to go to the back and opens safe cause the didn't keep that much up front

[1 Points] DixieMommy:

If they ask, Wedding Invitations.

Buying larger stamps? Wedding Gifts etc....

People sometimes invite hundreds and hundreds to their weddings. My friend (a postmaster) said that she's sold $2000 worth to wedding planners before.

[1 Points] gladtherearemorons:

no, there are lots of people that still buy stamps for all of their mail, especially the elderly. I've been to the post office hundreds of times in my life so I've heard stories directly from postal employees about customers buying thousands of dollars worth of stamps with cash at one time. Some employees understand that people like to use cash so $500-1000 in stamps is not much for some businesses. Some employees even start openly bashing the government when you tell them you use cash for privacy purposes.

[1 Points] hilltopbandaids:

I'm gonna say yes, it is. Most priority mail is sent with printed postage. So, if you were to claim to be a business still using priority stamps, I would be suspicious.

[1 Points] HonkySpaceship:

If anyone asks, it's for the office you work at.

No one is going to ask.

If you buy cash it doesn't matter if its suspicious or not. How would they track you?
