what gives here?
does being a mod of r/silkroad tie a person to using dark net markets? do mods always have to use tor?
do mods of r/darknetmarkets and r/silkroad face LE trouble for meing mods on an illegal community?

i dont think its necessarily illegal but i wouldnt put it past the dea, fbi, nsa or any other 3 letter govt organization to be heavily monitoring all these subreddits, being a mod even of an illegal community is still free speech technically but every vendor on here definitely needs to be using tor and a vpn and all images need to be uploaded anonymously with exif data wiped or you could dox yourself to a skilled hacker or govt agency

It's def far from being an admin on a market. I agree with sap in that any infiltration would be to go after other targets. Im not a vendor and participating in the sub isn't an illegal act in of itself. This is why it's better if vendors or admins don't message us here with anything too sensitive or business outside of the sub. I don't like entanglement with that specifically due to that risk. If a mod or set or mods was close to a particular vendor or market admin it could be a problem.
Facilitating discussion isn't a crime yet here in the us. I'm not a stim guy so my paranoia levels are appropriate I think.
Yes. I consider my mod position here to significantly elevate certain aspects of my Threat Model. Not just because I may be a target, but also because my position might be leveraged to target another member of this community. For that reason I take serious and diligent precautions for my own security and anonymity, and the other mods here also understand this and hopefully also take serious precautions.
