I have been in this game for several years and always bought BTC with Moneygram payments on LocalBitcoins cause they have the best rate. I have to use my real info with Moneygram cause the cashier at CVS sometimes needs to see a photo ID... And I log onto LBC on the clearnet. So far, no probs, BTC are legal and I send them to Helix before a market.
Still, Moneygram makes me uncomfortable. They ask for more info now. For payments over $1000 they ask for your drivers license #... I didn't used to purchase that much, but now I usually need $1-2k of BTC each time. Is there a more secure, anonymous way to buy BTC?
I don't live near a Chase or Bank of America that take in person anon cash deposits for that...
Can I use LBC over TOR and fake info for Moneygram? Would that potentially further incriminate me because it would be identity theft or fraud? I'd rather not commit unnecessary crimes in the BTC purchasing step, seeing as this part is legal. But I am also becoming weary of having too much of a paper trail with my real info on it...
Any advice or help is appreciated. Thanks!
I feel the same way. Interested in answers for sure
