Emd of Operations 'Big Swinging' Bayonet (x-post from /r/DMUK)

From this press release here written by the Dutch popo they say this:

The fall of Hansa Market is the final step of an undercover operation in which the Netherlands police seized control of the illegal market place in June of this year.

Can't trust anything that the popo say, Dutch or otherwise - but if the above is true then Dream and other markets might no longer be the interest of the Dutch police, at least.

And if this is the 'final step' might that then mean that no further investigations and prosecutions will follow?

However, the North American three-letter organisations will still probably go on using this episode as leverage to justify increased budgets to fight 'organised cybercrime'.

It's a trap!

End of one operation and the start of others. You think they're just going to drop all that info they gained ? Hell no!!! That was the whole point of the running hansa was to get tons of info to sort threw about bigger players on the DNM. They have 10k addresses. They will be combing threw AB also. They're tons of arrest incoming that will be spread out over months and months.

You're putting the emphasis on the wrong word in that quote. It was the final step in an investigation, meaning that particular case is closed. There will be more to come.

[1 Points] endedbytheknife:

Maybe it means that they took many steps and making the market fall is the last step in specific investigation. They might have other pending investigations where any other market is a target and is not ready to fall just yet.

Dont take a word LE says for truth. They constantly mislead people so that they can trap the noobies here

[1 Points] twototheloo:

The dutch are hungry for more. The current High Tech Crime Unit consists of 100-150 LEO. A trusted source told me they want to expand and are planning on starting an additional team that specializes in DNM related crime.

[1 Points] RosyPalm:

The Dutch had an operation that compromised Hansa.

The US, Canada, and Thailand had an operation to take out AlphaBay.

Bayonet was Interpol coordinating those different operations into a bigger operation.

The first two operations had an ending... taking out the specific DNM. Bayonet is all about gathering information and figuring out what can be done with it. Bayonet is probably open ended.

That doesn't mean Dream is caught up in Bayonet, but it can't be ruled out either. Good OPSec says assume it is and take actions accordingly.
