Greetings!
Long story short - currently waiting for my first order. I am pretty advanced in using a computer, so configuring TAILS, PGP and following all the security guidelines was pretty straightforward. The issue is however outside the digital realm.:)
First of all, I reside somewhere in an European city and I've ordered from another EU country (NL), to make sure there are no customs involved.
The day prior to the order I've paid a visit to the nearest national post office branch to check some facts with their representatives. Its a very small branch, located in a narrow streets area.
There I was driving to it, and suddenly I made a turn forgetting I was driving the wrong way on a one-way (very narrow) street. Suddenly I made eye contact with a policeman (he was wearing an uniform), sitting just in front of the post office, talking to the post office driver. I froze, as I suddenly remembered I'm breaking the driving laws; I rushed to park the car as if nothing happened and headed towards the post office. Meanwhile, the cop went inside.
There I was inside, there were two queues - I picked one and the cop was at the other queue, holding an official post office letter, the kind of document you receive when there's no one at home to sign for your package. I supposed he was off duty, just minding his personal business.
There it was my turn, and I asked the post office lady if I can receive packages here, even if my home address is not in the area, but I have proof of ownership of a house within the post office's region. As I have a loud, authoritative voice, the cop just looked at me and turned back to his business. The lady's answer was positive and I decided to return to the car.
There I was in the car, not being able to turn it and drive legally due to the narrowness of the street and due to a dude that parked his car in the area, so I decided to break the law again, as the one-way street was not that long. So I was driving slowly, no traffic in the area, and then suddenly the cop comes out of the post office. No eye contact this time, but I've watched him in the rear mirror and I'm sure the fu**er checked my car plates while using his cell phone.
Later on I've made my first order and afterwards paranoia started to hit me.
a) What if the cop checked my car plates, found out my name and alerted the local DEA to keep an eye on my future parcels, as he heard me asking if I can receive/pick up packages without actually officially residing in the area?
or maybe
b) The cop was off duty, and he called his colleagues telling them there's a fu**er driving illegally on a one-way street, so they should hurry up and bust me.
or
c) he just called somebody else, while looking at my car plates wondering who is this stupid son of a b***h breaking the law in front of him
or
d) option a) + the fact that he was there searching for other people's parcels, looking for drugs and shit.
I have a clean record, I'm your average tax payer, charismatic citizen that nobody would believe I would buy/use drugs. There's no record within the DEA linking me to any illegal shit. Still, it was like the Universe tried to take a crap on me that day - I mean what are the chances of going to the post office one random day, driving illegally on a one-way street, meeting a cop there who is sitting next to me and overhears my conversation of me asking if I can receive parcels on that particular post office?
So here I am, waiting for my order - and inventing various scenarios. What do you guys think about this? Am I being too paranoid or its a valid concern?
