Temporary bans for giving reckless OPSEC advice

I feel like giving people bad OPSEC advice is not only stupid but also sometimes dangerous. I know it's subjective but I feel like, at the mods' discretion, people who give out reckless OPSEC advice should be subject to temporary bans. It would prevent armchair experts from getting newbs in some very serious shit, and people who don't know wtf they are talking about would have an incentive to shut up and stop diluting the quality advice given by veterans

The thing most people don't know is that de-anonymization attacks in cyberspace, like against DNM users, still require a connection to meatspace, in order for the electrons to actually reach the malicious server. These electrons obviously have an electric charge, and therefore generate a small magnetic field, and it's that magnetism that directs them to the feddies' servers and such - this is all really simple science stuff. So that's why it's really important for folks here to surround their computers with meat products, because the electrons that are trying to reach the LE meatspace areas will instead be attracted to the meat (pastrami is particularly good), and get lost along the way, keeping you anonymous.

It's also really important to never use any versions of Tor Browser, Tails, Linux, etc. that have the number "3" in them, because that number represents the illuminati, who are NOT COINCIDENTALLY the same people pumping nitrites and other poisons into the world's pastrami supply in order to ensure that their electron-suckers keep working (by giving all the OPSEC pros colon cancer).

It's a little tricky, but with a good head on your shoulders, you can totally stay safe in this scene.

Tails isn't even necessary unless you're moving weight or a Vendor which doesn't apply to most people here. Have there even been any news articles about someone being busted for not using tails? I haven't seen one.

Vendors have gotten busted by packages being profiled and then buying stamps with their credit card. Look at Ross and the other market dude who used their personal emails associated with their facebook to manage their market servers.

Compared to multiple stories on here of buyers getting busted with drugs and the police or whoever not even going through their computers at all. The recent heroin guy who got busted by the undercover because his fingerprints were on the packs (matching to something means he was arrested before) and he was buying postage with his personal credit card.

Point being is that the chances of being busted based on something online is miniscule compared to all the real world things going on.

If you take reckless OPSEC advice from this sub, then you shouldn't be here... This is a sub about DarkNetMarkets.

This isn't a sub on how to improve OPSEC.

You should go to /r/opsec/ if you need actual OPSEC related help.

But I guess everyone has their own opinion. IMO people who make posts like this should receive a "Temporary ban". But you know everyone has their opinions...

i dont tink it should be at the mods discretion; discussion is generated by the community and there is active and open debate encouraging critical thinking and what not. that would be stupid.

plus, all this opsec bullshit as your saving grace is a crock of shit anyway. if they find shit in your mail and want to fuck you they can. lets get real here. look at the percentage of plea deals in the federal system and the abomination that is prosecutorial discretion. just too many variables to consider. Yeah putting tails on your comp sounds cool and getting bitcoins "anonymously" might help a little

this weenie "OPSEC" idea is stupid because we already know TOR has been cracked when the comp sci contractors over at Carnegie Mellon took over and a bunch of vendors and CP sicks got popped.

if they want you or its random theyll get you. if you shut the fuck up and have a good attorney and clean house you might not. If you have a shit ton of money and influential parents or family, youll probably get a deferred sentence or charges dropped.

I totally agree. A mixture of drugs, guilt and fear has got DNM users doing some very irrational things. Many of them are young and have have never scored drugs in a bad neighborhood. The lack of sabre-toothed tigers in our modern lives means that we have very little actual danger, but we still have the same fight or flight survival instincts so we fixate on any perceived threat. Customers think that OPSEC is about computers and the postman, rather than the girlfriend who wishes he would spend his money on HER instead of wasting it all on drugs.

A lot of irrational thinking has become set in stone - "POPSEC". Allow me to give you an example:-

If you order 20 times from a vendor, you risk getting your name and address to that vendor 20 times, instead of once.

Let that sink in for a minute. Its like a spy completing a secret mission to get the launch codes. Then doing it 19 more times, for the same launch codes, because it makes him feel safer.

Another 60 seconds of thought is long enough to think of a method of storing shipping details in complete safety, without any usernames. Lets see how many of you are able to rationally crack that problem...

That's your homework for today.
