How do most vendors get caught?

Also, what is the percentage of vendors that get caught? There must be a considerable difference between the way that big vendors get caught vs small ones. Isn't there? If so, what percentage of small vendors get caught vs big vendors?

What are the the mistakes that big and small vendors respectively make?

The bigger you get, the more LE attention you attract. It's simple laws of physics.

Generally loose lips sink ships. People start making good money and run their mouth. That or they DD with someone long enough to trust them with personal info and someone gets busted. Also those who deal on-line and off-line get busted from their off-line dealings. As far as dropping packages, it depends on where you live. If you're in a large city and have 30-40 post offices within a 30 minute drive and use them at random, it would take a crazy amount of work to figure out who you are.

And also, yes, getting too big and not knowing how to wash your money or having a legit front to explain your income is going to raise flags. If you go from broke to driving a 60K car and renting a beautiful home somewhere, people are going to ask questions.

Among some of the other reasons mentioned: LE orders packs from a vendor and then follows the trail backwards. They go to the post office from where it originated and check cameras to see if it was dropped off there and who dropped it off. They then profile those packages and surveille those post offices.

If the packs are dropped off at blue boxes, which I assume most vendors do, LE has a much harder time. But I guess some of those boxes could be filmed by either LE or local businesses.

Supertrips was caught in part because he left a fingerprint on his packaging, so there's that, too.

1 reason is profiling of packages.

Super smoke (heroin) got taken down because of a leak with the local gangs in the area, loose lips sink ships

Most get caught by bad real-life opsec, such as shipping packages, receiving them, or dealing with heated-up suppliers.

If you look at the history of DNM busts, most of them had real-life opsec flawed and were busted by good old fashioned detective work.

Bad COMSEC/OPSEC.

Fingerprints is a big one, you need to wear gloves. Reshippers get caught most often, since they receive huge international packs, as well as ship out too many regular packs. Avoiding the PO is always a good idea, use the drop boxes. You can look up the case of NOD to see how he got caught, was in the SR trial.
