Maybe you guys missed it, but my first post here did ruffle some feathers.

I just wanted to come out and say that, yes, I was wrong. I did search, but not thoroughly enough. (Btw, I hate using the search feature on reddit).
So, I would like to apologize to the offended parties, if I was unprofessional in any way. I will make sure to be more thorough before I ask any questions.
But, the reason I wanted to post this was to highlight how it felt like I walked into a minefield between two armies, one the mods and the other old time users of this subreddit. I have been a lurker on this sub for some time now and finally wanted to pitch in and be part of the community.
I don't think I got turned away from my first experience here, but it sure did leave a bad taste. (Once again, it was partly my fault, so I may deserve it.)
All in all, I think, from my lurking experience, people here are quite supportive and helpful and I hope it will stay that way for me.
Don't sweat it. Welcome to the community! It can sometimes be unpredictable when a poster will get skewered vs helped, even for a very similar question. Stick around and don't let the first time sour you too much. It gets better with age and practice.
