Community,
Here's the deal - b/c we have such a problem with compliance on the sourcing rule, its forced us to put that pretty pink banner up as a reminder. This rule is not negotiable. Its not something we came up with. This is to keep this sub from being on Reddit's chopping block.
While it may seem harsh to have a 3 day ban for a first time offender w/o a warning, sourcing posts have taken up so much of our time that this is the way it has to be for now. One post multiplied by some decent number and you have our mod queue where we have to remove the posts, tell the user why, ban the user, etc. Its taking a lot of time for such a simple rule.
Here's the thing, and sap spelled this out in a comment which I won't link to b/c it is to a removed post: To stay in compliance name 2 or 3 vendors. And guess what? The people replying will come up with OTHER vendors as suggestions. Its so simple to stay in line with the rule AND to get your question answered. Its really not complicated. Come on guys, just play the game, and you shall receive.
Here is what sap said:
Here's the secret: All you have to do is phrase your post as "Who's better for K? JoeShmoe or JaneDoe?" (where JoeSchmoe and JaneDoe are actual DNM vendors you've found, like on Grams) and you'll get a dozen people chiming in with all kinds of other recommendations.
We have to do it so that reddit doesn't kill the sub. It totally sucks, yes, but that's the deal with where we're at.
Question:
I understand rule #3. (no vendor advertising threads). But where is the line drawn as far as replying with a comment (as a vendor)? I'm talking about the thread that you mentioned... Was I out of line in any way with my response? Should I have worded it differently?
