I dont use it more than 3 times a week and never try to use it back to back days. Is this safe? Really trying to avoid becoming dependent.

Everyone is different.
I turned out to be a lot more senstative than I figured I would be. I can handle quite large doses of drugs recreationally. But even taking what I thought was a mild amount of xanax for a few weeks, I certainly felt a lot more anxious and sleep deprived once I stopped taking them.

It depends on your dosage and how you take them. I've been on and off for months at a time going on 2 years now. I just have a rule to never take more then 2mg a day and when I'm ready to take a break I just taper down to .5 mg a day and just maybe take a piece every other day. I've heard horror stories from other people but most of them were eating 7 to 8 full bars a day and yeh that can cause serious issues like seizures but me personally I ran out for a week about a month ago after taking 1 a day for months and with a little weed a melatonin I was fine. It really does depend on the persons health/tolerance and how much they are taking daily. Also are you drinking heavily and taking them? I had a friend who told me he just went bar crazy for one week and was eating 3 or 4 a day and just stopped suddenly and had some bad withdrawls but I also think he stopped other shit he was taking as well. Taking 1 pill 3 times a week isnt going to do shit to you. I take half in the morning and half at night and sometimes I wakeup and forget to even take it so somtimes I go almost a full 24 hours not even thinking about it. Here again we are all differnt but if you've ever done any real drugs IE: pain pills, heroin or other benzos such a valium or Klonipin you just have to learn how to drop your tolerance at a steady rate and wing yourself off. I had to wing myself off suboxone years ago from 16mg a day all the way down to .25 and just stopped. Never even really noticed it and suboxone has way longer half life the xanax does. So if you ever to catch yourself taking to many just scale back and drop your dosage a mg at time over a couple weeks and your body should adjust just fine. Just dont be an idiot and eat handfuls a day. My 2mg a day doesn't affect me one bit I just got back from Florida for week and didn't take any with me. I dunno maybe im different bc ive come off way harder shit but just be smart and don't take to much at once.

not very much dude. people will vary but I had bad insomnia and nightmares for ~4 nights after taking a bar to fall asleep just 3 nights in a row

Going on 18 hours right now since last piece I took and im doing just fine. Benzos being a short half life if you have a high tolerance you got to take them at least once every 12 hour or you will still having withdrawals but I truly believe that's from eating handfuls a day. You can actually google it. Most sites say if your eating 4mg or more a day daily that you should be careful and taper down. Now if your eating anywhere from 4-8 a day yea buddy you best taper down to one a day or get ready for your body to lock up. Its like any drug, the more you take and the longer you do it the worse off it can be. Just dont become someone who eats a bunch everyday and you should be fine. I take 2 mg a day half in the morning half in the evening around 7 or so. Its now been well over 12 hours and im sitting here feeling just fine.

i take about half a DNM bar usually on the days i use it. I use weed daily right now so that helps me fall asleep as well.. i dont usually take them at night either. i take them towards the end of work because i hate my train ride home so much and it just helps me zone out and nap. But yes, i have read the horror stories on here and my friend had a seizure as well from stopping them. I would really like to keep this in the recreational pile and not become addicted. I dont need to be doing them all the time. I just asked because yesterday i kinda felt a runny nose coming and was wondering if it was the start of withdrawal coming.

[1 Points] FUDFUDGEBROWN:
I did 2-6mg for almost 2 years... Did etizolam and Clonazolam afterwards for about 8 months to a year... I stopped basically cold turkey about a month ago and havent had seizures... mind over matter for some people. I smoke alot of herb too so that might help. Only thing I notice is a headache/empty head feeling.

It wasnt until i was prescribed and taking just about every day to where i would ever get any physical side effects if i didnt dose nothing too terrible, to be honest oxy wds were a little worse for me but the worst is if it was both at the same time

It's usually not an amount that gets you addicted but something weird happens in life where you do a lot or too many days in a row and before you know it your hooked. It just takes a weekend where you are partying too hard or going through some stuff to end up on hooked street, and that goes for any drug.
If you have to ask, then you're doing it too much.

I've never had a problem getting addicted to xanax. Meth on the other hand....God i love that shit...
I think you'll be fine, but I think some people get addicted to xanax ridiculously quickly. Be careful how many you take at a time. If you're going to post that you take 10mg at a time, well, then you're an addict. ;)
Im guessing you only take a bar or t wo, at your level? "two" would be one of AK's bars....

Not much.Depends on how much/often it's taken. Withdrawal can kill a person. Literally. No cold turkey!! Taper off slowly, find less stress and anxiety IRL

You're probably fine but I know alot of people who became super addicted, every time they quit or couldn't get their hands in xans they have seizures, and wind up back on of 2 days later. My big in my fraternity was debrothered, lost his actually family and went to jail because of xanax. IMHO its not with the half drunk feeling. I hate to sound like my mom but you don't need to quit of you don't start. I stick to beer pot LSD and occasionally DMT or coke

You should go read /r/drugs for a bit. Even better would be /r/drugnerds to learn about its actions and why its addictive.
Also if you have to ask yourself if you are addicted then you are addicted.

I think a lot of these Xanax WD stories are greatly exaggerated. It's like when I hear people tell me quitting smoking is harder than quitting heroin.
My personal experience with benzos and there WD's. I was prescribed kolonipin 3x1mg per day for 12 years.
I had some shitty things happen in my life and I said fuck it and quit cold turkey. While the half life on kolonipin is longer, I didn't have a seizure.
I will tell you the rebound anxiety was shitty but not as shitty as the multiple heroin/fent WDs I have been through.
After all of that I started back up with Xanax , 1 mg twice a day. I did that for roughly 3 months, I tapered for 4 days and quit. I was kinda bitchy for the first 2 days and the rebound anxiety was there for a few days but again no seizures.
I personally think a lot of this is in the head of the user. I have detoxed on so many different drugs at this point, I don't have that element of fear like I did in the very beginning. I think that fear is what makes these WD's shitty. Once you get over that it's not as bad as I see these posts describing.
Be smart about it, taper if you can but odds are you are not gonna have a GM seizure.
[1 Points] XminimaX:
Not sure it's been a long time but once I start taking 1mg - 2mg a day , and then someone stole months worth, yeah no cold turkey seizure or just dead. I felt horrible already the first day without and last until the 3rd before seizure. Remember heading to the worse hospital in this city though. =\

How much are you taking? if its like 1mg/.05mg I'd say you will only become midly dependant, and if you quit it would be only mild discomfort. But if you are taking like a bar or two, consider yourself dependent. The half life is relatively short (less than 12 hours usually). Do you feel discomfort on the days you don't take them? That's the key there. If, on the days you don't take your xanax, you feel irritated/crabby/panicky/crappy then you have yourself a dependence.
