Vendor messed up zip code. What could happen?

After not receiving a package and a few messages being sent, the vendor said he didn't have a tracking number for my zip code and that he must have fucked up. He offered a reimbursement or reship, but I'm not worried about that. I'm worried of it being returned to sender, whichever address that is, and being investigated. What are the most likely outcomes here?

as long as the address is right you should be ok. ive had that happen a couple times before and ive always got my shit

It will get returned to the sender and its up to the person what happens. Most likely nothing if it's a small amount, I'd still be cautious
