Quick Question on Tumblrs!

Afternoon yall!

I am using PGP, TOR, a Tails system and am using Helix to tumble purchaed bitcoins but I have a more technical question I was hoping someone could answer.

I get that tumbling them is to kind of hide or mask where you send bitcoins, but on the transcaction history it shows the bitcoin addy they were sent to. Doesn't that defeat the purpose since anyone supposedly could login to the Helix account and see the transaction?

Maybe I am missing something, I am glad I am using the security but just wanted to get the how it works. Thanks!

Yes, anyone can see the transactions and where coins go. But the tumbler isn't what you are trying to hide and sever the tie to, its the fact that you are sending coin to a market. The tumbler breaks the link b/w where the coins came from (say originated from your Coinbase account) and where they went (to the market). Say a market is compromised and LE takes over. They decide they want to look at incoming deposits from customers to see if they can link it back to Coinbase or somewhere where they can identify you. If the tumbler did its job, LE follows the coin back and the trail runs cold when they hit the tumbler. LIkewise, if LE started with you (say you got caught with a pack of drugs in the mail), they see you have coin from Coinbase, they follow it, hoping it leads to a market's hot wallet, but it ends at the tumbler. Trail goes cold.

Tumbling (if done right) severs the link b/w you and the market's wallet.
