[GeneralQuestions] Vendor.....

Okay well I have been following this sub for awhile, and notice not much is mentioned about the other markets besides evo and agora like you have sites that seem to specialize in one substance. But that isn't my question. I know probably they are most possible a scam. My question is I have interest in becoming a vendor for quite awhile, but the market is something i never trusted, with the sites being unpredictable. I wouldn't want my money to get tied up or someone elses mistake. So what are your opinions on someone hosting there own site with the specialty of there choice, or do you think traffic will be slow and trust will be too much of a issue that it will be better to accept risk and become a vendor.

anyways... tl;dr host website, or be a vendor

You are getting way ahead of yourself.

Most will say if you really have to ask, then neither is for you.

You have no rep that precedes you and typically that is a pre req for your own marketplace. Use the markets, build a business and rep and then gauge the viability of the next step.

Just my opinion but I don't think you can both vend and run a market. Too much work is entailed in both. So the very things that are making you think running your own market will be the same things buyers will worry about as well on any market. Mistakes can happen no matter if market soecialized or is generalized. Either way building a market will require building trust and getting the market visible. So I guess you are suggesting maybe each vendor running their own site? So following the standard market frameworks I don't think its a viable idea. But what about something like OpenBazaar? That's a more distributed vending framework.

Markets have to start from somewhere. Yes there will be a trust issue until the market can prove itself. In order to attract buyers and sellers you'll need to offer something the other markets don't offer. In short hosting a market is a very different skill set than being a vendor. I don't think you can do both efficiently. Is there room for another market? Sure but it takes a lot of commitment. There are some vendor sites or were I guess. Bungee had his own market. If you are a big vendor it could make sense. But for 99% of vendors this is probably not doable unless you are looking at something like open bazaar

If you are talkin a small site like bungee and a few other ran/run...you def need a customer base 1st.. you are talking 2 waaaay different animals in terms of branching out on your own or running a vendor acct
