I know international deliveries get all sorts of checks and scans done. But what about UK domestic? Do envelopes or very small packages get scanned or put past sniffer dogs etc? If it makes any difference then I mean postage by royal mail.
Does anyone know how the UK domestic postal system works?

There is a youtube video on it.. most of it seems to be sorted automatically by machines.. you have nothing to worry about though, myself and more than a few of my friends have been ordering big & small domestically for years and been fine

How about packages going to Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland?

Any package that gets flown from one mail centre to another will pass through a scanner that is manned by a human
AFAIK domestic mail does not go through customs otherwise I would not have received an ounce of "sour diesel" that was stank through the packaging.
