Most major markets are down/under attack- is it just me or does this feel coordinated? Market operators need to evolve.

The latest surge in DNM inaccessibility prompted me to share some thoughts and see what people think. It appears as if the biggest market players right now (Ag, BB, ME, etc) are "down" or "under DDOS attack". It feels a lil too coincidental that ALL these major markets would suddenly come under attack. It could just be an amazing coincidence, but it feels more like someone [LE] may be attacking these sites.

Just my take, could just be paranoid but usually when one is down, the others are still available and up. This is one of the few times I've seen all the major players down at the same time, and for several days now.

I'm wondering, if these markets were accessible via i2p would this not be a problem? I believe these are all TOR/onion only sites but if they had an alternative i2p access point and they started seeing massive traffic / attack on the TOR network couldn't they just temporarily disable that access-route and make it i2p-only until the attacks subside? Just postulating... most of the best markets are down or inaccessible.

There are several bitcoin2.0 projects I've been watching that will solve this problem for us once market operators start adopting those solutions. LE is evolving their techniques and market operators need to as well, there are projects out there that will enable decentralized marketplaces that can never be "taken down" or "attacked" since the market itself exists on hundreds of thousands of nodes, only one of which needs to be online for the market to remain "alive". At best in this scenario LE could take down a "front-end" which provides a view into this marketplace, or maybe vendor themselves (with a large amount of work) but the marketplace itself cannot be taken down or attacked. Even if a front-end is taken down/attacked there'd be many many more front-ends up and running which provide a view into that same marketplace, impossible for LE to get them all (esp if they are spread across TOR and i2p networks as well).

What are people's thoughts on this latest wave of downtime/attacks/DDOS and in general major markets being down for such an extended period of time?

Plus it probably doesn't help that when one goes down the others get increased traffic. That may be a minute difference though.

Seems very coordinated probably done by the same person or group. Can throw "maintenance" excuse right out the window. Speaking of that sometimes I feel like throwing the people saying be patient right out the window. I know there's not much we can do but seriously what's with the complacency? Some of you guys seem pretty cool with the way things are almost like you're LEO. Don't you want to be able to buy and vend your drugs? It's OK to start asking questions and making some noise because it's been plenty long enough.

This is unprecedented downtime. Even back when LEO took down SR1 there was less time than this before SR2 was up and running. So please how about right now no more of "The usual" tags regarding downtime over at the Agora subreddit? This ain't the usual.

Isn't this what we said about the last DDoS and we all pointed the finger at BlackBank?

I've always said that more markets should be on I2P (or at least have I2P mirrors), it's really a much better design for hidden services, which are kind of just an adjunct for the Tor devs.

However, I2P sites are just as vulnerable to DDoS as any normal website, or any Tor Onion Site, and there's even a potential bug in I2P right now (which should be patched in the next release in a few days) that might make a similar DoS attack feasible against I2P sites as the current Tor bug that's making it so easy on Tor.

It's possible that a Freenet Freesite, or a Tahoe-LAFS "site" on I2P might be immune to DDoSes, but they're much harder to keep up to date.

What's bitcoin2.0 and what are these projects you're talking about?

There are unmarked 5-0 outside your house right now.
