Half a year ago I ordered a shirt online from the USA to Germany. It was just a fan shirt, shipped by a small company. They didn't seem to have a lot of experience with international shipping because the package got intercepted by customs (or Zoll here in Germany). It don't really remember what was wrong with the package, maybe it didn't state the required information for international packages or something.
Anyway, I got a letter from customs which said that i should come to their office to pick up the package, otherwise they will just send it back. I was very busy at the time and i didn't really care that much for the shirt, so i never picked it up.
Am i at a higher risk now when it comes to customs and controlls?
No certainly not. Source: My friends works for German customs.
However: If you order domestic products customs won't even be involved. Just order from people who send from Germany. Regular letters and small packages are never controlled in Germany.
