OPSEC - Don't use Bitcoin

As we know, one of the major sources of information in the AlphaBay bust was Bitcoin. LE is capable of following it. DO NOT USE IT.

Use an anonymous coin. The only one in real use is Monero afaik. It's untraceable. Use it!

With all it's drawbacks, I liked AB because it had Monero support. Not sure if any of the markets out there support it. If you want to use a market that has only Bitcoin support, use a just-in-time converter such as shapeshift.io or xmr.to

I had good experiences with both, but the latter has an onion address and claims to wipe logs.

OPSEC: Buy your bitcoin anonymously. It doesn't matter if the blockchain is public if the people you buy and sell from don't know who you are or have any way to contact you.

TradeRoute supports Monero. =)

The fuck do we do then!

[1 Points] SaintVengeance:

How about we use this amazing service out there that you can send bitcoin to and it will spit out different ones to a different address?

Almost like ...mixing...or tumbling...

If only that were available

[1 Points] FucknCantaloupesMate:

When (if?) they break tumblers with better blockchain analysis, then more people will shift to Monero. Even then as others have said, it is possible to buy bitcoin anonymously by a number of methods so LEA's trail will go cold at the BTC seller. Personally I do both.

Main and obvious arguments against Monero right now are its volatility (lost and regained 25% !! of its value over last month), and difficulty in buying. You usually need bitcoin to buy Monero, and shapeshift takes an eye-watering 7% charge on all currency exchanges.

Monero maximalists are hilarious

[-1 Points] TILYouLoveDrugs:

No, it wasn't bitcoin, it was stupidity and greed.

Bitcoin offers the perfect platform but not by itself, like most noobs assume. You can't expect to have complete anonymity just by using bitcoin. Most people lack even the basics when it comes to buying bitcoins or how it even works. You need to follow certain steps when you're buying/selling the coins and if you do it properly, whoever is following the blockchain can throttle on your balls.

So, educate yourself about its technology, how it works and you should be safe using it. Amateurs..

Worst advice ever. You're clueless.

how about DO NOT USE DRUGS? :)
