[GeneralQuestions] " Xanax makes me want to sleep all day next day... Pls help what to do "

hello people,

Now the problem is that after taking 1 pill of 0.5mg i sleep around 8-10hours. As soon as i get up i feel somehow slow motion ! I am an energetic guy and i can really feel myself slow motion. After the first 4 hours i wake up i cant stay awake and i sleep again until the next day and i am perfectly fine....! What is wrong ?? I have even tried half of the pill but it only makes me calm down..i need all the pill in order to calm down and sleep after.

Any thoughts or suggestions please ??? I really like xanax and the way it calms me down, paranoia is gone, and i can sleep...but why i feel so fucking sleepy next day all day???

Edit: i use xanax only after night sessions using cocaine or mephedrone. Not very ofter. Once every 1-2 weeks.

I don't take Xanax but I'm the same way with a lot of benzos or even muscle relaxers. The next day I'm fucking dead! I hate it. So I stay away. I did a gene test and it came back saying I don't do well with benzos, specifically Xanax and Valium I don't react to it and would need a big dose to get anything therapeutic out of it. I remember I was given Xanax before my eye procedure and I felt absolutely nothing! I thought it was b/c of my opioid use but when I had this test done, it made sense.

But other benzos I get the same side effect. I hate it. Thus I avoid it.

Take something with a much shorter half life and see if that helps. Alprazolam has a mean elimination half life of 11 hours. If you sleep for 10, you still have more than half of the dose in your system and while it may not mean you are tired enough to sleep it will probably keep you a little bit drowsy until it's been mostly cleared from your system.

Something like etizolam is supposed to be much better for short term use because the half life is half what alprazolam is. It should also be considered that you are different, the mean elimination time is taken from a range of 6-23 hours and you could be one of the unlucky few who takes closer to 23 hours to reach half the dose you took.

I would also recommend giving some of the antihistimines a go for sleep, or some of the newer generation antipsychotics for anxiety and sleep. They can have some rather unpleasant side effects but so can benzos, especially if you take them more frequently than once every two weeks. Drugs that help with anxiety but don't target GABA receptors will minimise the risk of addiction significantly.

Just not your drug? I cant even stay awake on xanax. I've tried them like 5 times and every single time i fall asleep within an hour of taking it. Its a sleep aid for me.

yeah you feel lathargic for the first couple days of use or of increasing the doseage, but when you build a tolerance it's a really pleasurable relief from stress, unwind, and K/O.
