What's the point in priority?

It's like sellers advertise it but you don't get a package for at-least a week. I'm not trying to be a dick or anything, but man if I'm paying $10+ for shipping alone I should get it atleast quick enough.

I placed a order monday, seller marked it shipped 2 day priority. It's literally about to be friday and no sign of it, most likely gonna come next monday.

That's just my rant

The point in priority is to get it in 2-3 days instead of 3-5 with first class. You may not get your packages in those times but you are the exception.

Who told you priority is 2day? Its not, thats actually Express you want if you want to be sure to have it in that amt of time. First off, the priority guarentee is actually 7days business days. Most orders arrive 2-3 days on average (from when they get sorted and put in the system, NOT when your order is marked shipped) however, depending on how far away you are from the vendor (are you cali and hes new york, its probably going to take 3), are you or the vendor located in a small rural area, etc..But there is no guarentee you are going to get it in 2 days or even 3.

Then it also depends on when the order was put in the mail and when it was placed. If you order doesnt get dropped off in time for last collection at a box it wont be collected until the following day. Then it will get sorted that night and sent along its way. Packages dont magically just start moving the second your place an order, or even when they are marked shipped. Shipped just means the vendor shipped it, dropped it off. Doesnt mean USPS has done anything with it yet.

More often than not, a general rule of thumb is to start counting shipping time as starting the evening/night of the following day. Sure, you may get lucky and you place your order in the morning and your vendor is super quick and has a turn around time of only a few hours and gets your order out a couple hours later from when you placed it. Then it might get picked up that day and start its journey that night after it gets sorted.

A vendor can guarentee orders shipped in 24 hrs/same day and an order placed Monday mid-day/afternoon could still not actually start moving until Wednessday night. It would get marked shipped Tuesday, and he will of dropped it off Tuesday , but if that box has already been collected for the day (and alot of boxes are colected noon-1 ish, so its very likely it would of already been collected) it wont get picked up until Wednesday.

People have a really disorted view of priority mail and how they think it should be. Half the time not even express mail would work as fast as they expect. And only express is actually guarenteed. But even it has deadlines on when it has to be in by for it to actually get delievered the following day. And people act is if a vendor is standing by 24/7 waiting for you to click that order button so he can immedaitely pack it up hop in the car and drive it to the post office for you.

Thats just not a reasonable expectation. Alot of vendors make one trip a day to drop off mail, and some dont even do that. Some only ship every other day. You have to figure out a realistic time to start counting shipping time from. When its marked shipped is a not an actual time it started moving towards you or even when the post office has it. If you placed an order Monday, there is an extremely good chance USPS didnt collect it and sort it until Tuesday evening. So Even if it only took 3 days, your still a little early to complain about it not arriving yet

I used to be a vendor years ago and just used stamps and letters on most orders - honestly, the difference between 1st class and priority is SMALL and in some cases, there is no difference in speeds

with priority, you can prove to site admins or buyers that you shipped their items. with stamps, you really cant track those packs, or all of them at least. luckily 99% of my buyers were honest and I worked in escrow, but it was risky

that's my guess

When I have paid more for priority it has arrived much quicker. I'm sorry to hear you are having such difficulties.

For me it's perfectly acceptable to pay for Priority Mail and receive it in 5-7 days because I understand that vendors with proper OpSec randomize their shipping/outgoing days. If it were just First Class then the turnaround would go from 5-7 days to 10-14 days which is just too long. But if you're paying for Priority Mail and getting your pack in 10-14+ days, then you need to switch vendors.

It's the guarantee that comes with the tracking sticker, not necessarily the faster turnaround time. A lot of vendors won't reship/refund a lost pack if it was untracked which means you're SOL if something goes haywire. I'd say the extra few dollars spent on the front end is worth being able to potentially save hundreds or more with a reship rather than a repurchase.
