Rod Bridge, whose 16-year-old son died after taking a synthetic drug, travelled to China and recorded meetings with local drug bosses

An Australian man whose son died after taking a synthetic drug has gone undercover and travelled to China to infiltrate the crime gangs which have been exporting the narcotics.

Rod Bridge presented himself as a potential buyer and met with drug bosses in the city of Hefei to discuss importing supplies into Australia and was offered more than five types of synthetic drugs, including up to 200 kilograms of one drug. The bosses said they could guarantee delivery within seven days.

"We have lots of experience sending packages to Australia," one seller claimed.

"We know how customs works. Don't worry, Australia is safe."

Mr Bridge was accompanied by a Channel Nine television crew and filmed the exchanges using hidden recording devices.

The suppliers demonstrated how they hid drugs in sealed bags and fish tank filters.

"I hope it [the undercover recording] will save other lives," Mr Bridge said.

"We're on the verge of some sort of tsunami about to happen and these synthetic drugs that are coming in are just going to get bigger and bigger and this has got to stop. Somebody's got to stop it."

Mr Bridge embarked on the mission after the death in 2013 of Preston, his 16-year-old son, who fell from a balcony after taking 25i-NBOMe, a synthetic LSD-style drug bought by a friend from the website Silk Road. The 16-year-old apparently believed he could fly after taking the drug.

Mr Bridge said he hoped the recordings will encourage Australian police and customs to bolster efforts to crackdown on the supply of synthetic substances.

Experts in Australia have warned that synthetic drugs have been flooding the market and the scourge could prove more harmful than ice.

If you thought you could fly, wouldn't you just start from the ground? Fuckin' idiots these days.

What a schmuck. Misguided daddy rage helps nobody. His son deliberately ordered a research chemical online while completely aware of what he was getting. He used the drug improperly and he paid for it.

Trying to take out four or five Chinese drug kingpins will do all of jack shit to "save the other poor unaware children" from the supposed meth-tier horrors of designer drugs and RCs. If nothing else, shit like this makes the international RC game even more of a seller's market (which endangers users).

Never seen the appeal of 25i, how does it differ from an acid trip? I mean it's a hell of a lot cheaper I guess but it sketches me out.

Is 25i to LSD what k2 is to normal weed?

[1 Points] lostdeathstar:

Infiltrating these dangerous Chinese drug lords must be a hell of a lot easier and less dangerous in real life than in the movies. There would be at least one explosion, 6 dead bodies, and a couple severed fingers in the movie version.

This story will be converted to a hollywood blockbuster starring Liam Neeson as Mr Bridge.

If he thought he could fly why didn't he do a trial run off the ground?
