I made a purchase on Evolution yesterday. I believe I correctly encrypted my address with the vendor's public key.
Today I had a note from the vendor saying I had encrypted my address with my private key and they needed my public key to decrypt it.
That is weird, isn't it? Even if I had screwed up the encryption, why assume I used my private key and not another vendor's public key?
It's not so weird when you consider that it's a somewhat common rookie mistake that people make. However, it doesn't quite make sense to me what the vendor was asking you for. He should have asked you to re-send it encrypted with his public key, not asked you for yours. What did the vendor say/ask you, exactly?
