Do post offices keep logs of return/receiving addresses?

I've been thinking about this recently. When a vendor drops off a regular priority/first class package at a post office to enter shipping, does the USPS log the return address and receiving address into a database? Could law enforcement look up a return address and see a list of all receiving addresses? Could this end up fucking people over?

Thoughts?

Short answer no, long answer yes. All of the information is stored is an database. From what i have heard its sorted by tracking numbers, ALL of the tracking numbers are saved and these connect the addresses as well as names and any information along the way. Also though similar not all post offices are the same like i know for sure USPS does and Fedex but for any other im unsure.
