Hello community.
If you have looked at the sidebar occasionally then you may have noticed that we grew quite a bit over time. It has come to a point where at any given time of the day there are several hundreds users online [half of them ForLol_Serious's alts but still]. This also means much work for our small, dedicated mod team to keep this place clean and a healthy discussion place without doxxes, threats, [too shitty] shitposts, . . .
Therefore we have decided to try out a small change out which several other big subs already do successfully. Instead of adding more mods who essentially have to take care of all the tasks, we added two new ones who are dedicated to working on the mod queue [approving and removing posts and taking care of reports] and answering mod mail messages. The old mods will still work on these tasks too, but this step is to ensure that for example doxxes get removed faster and questions in the mod mail do not get accidentally skipped.
Plus with the reduced workload we can work on other exciting new projects such as improving the sidebar, focusing more on harm reduction and adding resources for it and improving the superlist management and making the superlist more useful [which has been difficult to maintain since every mods already had tons of work to do with the usual mod work which made it barely possible to realize big changes and work on new projects].
To give you a small peek into the daily workload of a /r/DarkNetMarkets mod [using me as an example]: The traditional mod work which involves approving and removing new posts of the main sub, the noobs sub and /r/xanaxcartel and taking care of reports and mod mail messages in these subs, consistently takes up easily more than half an hour each day after logging in. And I already make full use of copy-pastas, automated automod replies and many other tricks.
However that does not even cover answering to the comments replies to my comments and posts or the general management work [improving and fixing automod, working on the DNM bible, answering questions in the noobs sub, dealing with seasonal turmoil like market busts, scraping and preserving markets for the community, keeping the superlist up-to-date, . . .].
The best / worst part? All of us mods do it for free in our spare time. [yet certain users still start the usual 'hur-dur all mods are corrupt and lazy' talk at the end of the day when we already poured hours into the above tasks, but this is another story]. So hopefully you can see why new mods are necessary and maybe have a bit more understanding when it comes to bashing mods again the next time.
Long story short please welcome the new mods /u/deliveredaspromised and /u/PlentyofPasta! They are both long-term community members who have chosen to use an alt for their mod duty [we never know where and when the next subpoenas strike] If you trust any of the current mods to choose a reliable new mod, then you can be content with the two new additions. If not, simply do not send any reddit user [be it a mod or not] your doxx and you will be fine.
Talk about a misleading post title.
