Shipping 5/5
Shipping speed was great. I ordered on a Tuesday, he had it shipped out by Wednesday, received it by Friday.
Stealth 2/5
Stealth was truly not that great. The mushrooms were in a vacuum sealed bag (best I could describe it. I hope that's not revealing too much) and that's it. If you shook the box you could hear the mushrooms moving around. If you just simply peaked inside the box, you could see them. It made me a little nervous especially considering the box wasn't even shut all the way.
Mushrooms 3/5
There was virtually no caps on these mushrooms.I did look up the type of mushroom and I do realize the caps on these can be small, but really they were basically all stems. The stems were extremely long easily going up to 5-6 inches. Actually had one mushroom that had a stem growing outside the cap. Many of the mushrooms looked very bruised (I'm sure this is typical) although some had what seemed like mold, I don't know enough about mushrooms to know if it wasn't. They were pretty potent though. Consumed an eighth in tea last night, trip lasted about 4 hours. Felt sluggish and had slight hallucinations. (nothing mind blowing, colors way more vivid, vision was almost doubled, very nice headspace). Weight of mushrooms was correct.
My opinion.
While the shrooms were nice, I wouldn't buy from him again. Considering I was paying $55 for half an oz, I expected a little bit more out of them. I will be looking for a better vendor, if there even is one. MushGuy is currently gone until June 20th (I believe so anyway) so just a heads up before anyone tries to message him.
Thank you for the review, I appreciate your honesty. Let me clarify some things here.
Stealth. I make it very clear so there are no suprises about how you recieve your package. This should never be an issue, it's in my profile. And they are vacuum sealed.
Mutations and mold. Mutations are common in the fungus world, not a big deal. I personally find them intresting. As far as mold is concerned, trichoderma is the only issue I've ever had. It does not directly attack a healthy mushroom but rather exposed grain/substrate or improperly picked bases. It's very opportunistic. A healthy colony won't get them until the the 3rd or 4th flush and I usually compost them before or just as this is happening. What you are seeing is probably spores mixed with some bruising. Sorry, sometimes they just pop up over night before I can get to them and they drop and fold their caps.
Potency and it's effect on an particular individual are variable. There's nothing I nor any honest person can do about it. Your particular experience, though regreatable, is not the norm.
Dryness. Even cracker dry shrooms can bend a little. The hyphal tissue on the stipe can sometimes 'frizz' out. It becomes shredded on the horizontal axis and thins out. I'm not sure what the technical term is but I have seen it happen many-a-time.
I wish you would of contacted me directly, as I mention on my profile, I do try and make things right with customers, but you didn't.
Good luck my friend. -M
