To the people who claim carding only hurts the banks...

I went to the pharmacy last night to pick up my medications, only to find that my bank account was completely drained. I got ahold of the bank and it looks like my card was skimmed. Yes, the bank will reverse the fraudulent charges and I will eventually get my money back. But for now, I'm broke and out of my meds and a few other things that I need. So, to the people who defend the actions of carders, please tell me again about how it only hurts the banks and not innocent consumers...?

Edit- Thank you to everyone who gave advice and shared their stories as well. And to the few people who are trying to defend the act of carding as a victimless crime, screw you. When you wake up one morning and check your bank account only to find that it's been completely wiped out, maybe then you'll come around.

No you are correct. It obviously hurt you in the short term in that it'll take some time to get your money back. But some people believe that corporations are the ones who absorb fraud, taxes, whatever. They don't. The end user/customer is the one who absorbs it. I forget the number, but fraud is extremely costly and those costs are passed on to us in forms of higher fees, interest rates, etc.

[25 Points] krokodiltear:

Determining the morality of an act like this is really fascinating. It's easier for our tiny chimp brains to to rationalize stealing from a giant, faceless corporation than a family-owned store or from a neighbor from across the street. Probably a case of Dunbar's number at work., where there's a limit to how many people we can empathize with before we lose sight of the human element at work, aka monkeysphere.

The same thing goes on with the fake coupons people buy off the darknet and to some degree, online piracy. It's pretty easy to justify your actions, but at the same time, you know what you're doing is on some level, immoral.

I was a victim of paypal fraud years ago, they didn't take any money from me, but they put me in debt $19k, and I had collectors after me fucking everywhere, home, following me around town harassing me everywhere I went, Paypal said that the money couldn't be reversed due to them cashing it out and I'd have to repay the money, I was on the verge of killing myself from being unemployed at the time and also losing someone. Took 2 months and a legal team to get paypal to fuck off and just clear the debt.

Same thing happened to me 3 days before Christmas. Account was completely drained and was going to take 7 business days to get my money back.

Thankfully my bank manager was great when I went in and kicked up a (polite) fuss, they actually gave me $50 (they didn't loan it, they just gave me $50) so I could make any essential purchases like food.

Hopefully your bank treats you well too.

[5 Points] rogueXleader:

Feel the same way about carders as I do about people who get innocent friends and family members tied up in their trouble from using the dark web

Fuck "carders"

To hell with carding. Seriously, I've had my info stolen twice in my life (years apart, and minor to no damage each time), and each time was a massive annoyance to fix. BoA fixed it, but it took time. Luckily it was simplistic for me, but it could have been disastrous (like if someone's savings were drained). I understand the whole "it only hurts banks" thing, but it just isn't true. Even though you get the charges reversed it can still fuck up your life for a bit. Stick to drugs. They (sometimes) only hurt you.

Fuck carders

I really wish we could separate ourselves from those pieces of shit. They don't deserve to be included in all of this. This is all too special and revolutionary to let it be sullied by their presence.

[4 Points] darlantan:

We live in the modern world. You can order drugs and have them delivered, worldwide, with a currency that is entirely digital. Electronic security is not new, and it is generally accepted that breaches can and will happen...

...and you don't keep enough in cash to get by for a week?

I may not agree with skimming, but god damn, have a contingency plan in place. I have multiple accounts, with a few different ones dedicated to various forms of electronic transactions and a couple more that are strictly for transfers. I also keep enough in petty cash that the only real thing I'd ever have to worry about would be extraordinary expenses and my rent.

This shit isn't rocket science. You will eventually get hit. Make sure you're ready for it.

[3 Points] AwesomeTM:

My moms account was just carded and I feel somewhat bad for knowing exactly how to do it to someone else, but when I see the results first hand, I know I never would. Carding does hurt people. $5000 is nothing to have but a lot to owe. You get it back, along with fees and surcharges for having it happen to you, you're paying cause you were the victim. It's terrible, but.. it's someone's way of making a living.

[1 Points] shitterplug:

Carding fucking destroys credit scores. People who card need to be removed from the gene pool.

This is why i do my best to not have a bank account. Except that it wasnt carders stealing my information that stole my money. It was the bank colluding with the government behind my back. :/

[1 Points] mke___dr:

I woke up this morning and my bank account was completely empty too!! Then I looked at my passed purchases and found I spend all my funds at a strip club over the weekend.

..and on a $1200 on a Kirby vaccum because "its an investment in my health". hashtag-scam

A company isn't a building. its a bunch of people.

Stealing from them is bad enough. Pretending to be you to steal from them is quite personal, leaving you to sort it all out.

Bitcoin is much easier to steal, particularly off drug shoppers who have no legal recourse.

Have you noticed that some of the marketplaces run by carders offer onsite PGP?

I assume they make a note of your name and address just before its encrypted. Eventually it will end up on a list and be sold to Russians.

It just goes to show how warped and coruptedthe morals of these guys have become, they don't even deny that they are carders.

"Sure, I'm a fraudster who steals dollars from anonymous strangers. But This is bitcoin. It couldn't be more different"

[-1 Points] None:

I don't get how this sort of thing happens. At what step did they have access to your card's info?

[-4 Points] nextbizzy:

you get your money back = no harm

Same thing happened to me, made 1 phone call and everything was dandy...

[-5 Points] Insanity_-_Wolf:

Just business. If you're arguing about moral, drugs are horrendous compared to fraud on a global scale. You face financial ruin if that, others face death. If you're in the game there's little space for moral. If it gets to the point where either I take a hit or you do, the way I see it . . . it might aswell be you.

[-8 Points] randomfuckface:

Security is your responsibility alone, don't patronize those to take advantage of your exploits. Carding is bad for the working man for he must spend much time getting his stuff back, indeed. But if you fail to excercise safety then it is your fault because its not that hard too simply, NOT use cards at all and stick too the old fashion cash, Enable region block, enable text alerts per transaction, analyze any POS/ATM for skimming device, check bank statements daily ESPECIALLY if you KNOW ABOUT CARDING and so on. Carding is bad, but if you do nothing too prevent yourself from being victimized then no one else but you are too blame.. Everyone has to eat & people will exploit your carelessness too ensure they are fed. That's the game. Moral of the story, Fuck cards & use cash..

[-8 Points] jkfakjadjn:

It's funny how everyone on this sub is against carding because it is stealing but they think piracy is perfectly fine.

[-12 Points] Swagmandan1997:

Fuck you and your moral high ground. Don't act like you're not funding the violent drug trade yourself.

[-10 Points] sdghhj:

Whether you agree or disagree with the practice, its here to stay. Should have setup 2-FA on your bank account.

[-12 Points] MrSkimYoData:

It only hurt you in the short term, long term you will be fine. Obviously when fraud happens the burden of the cost gets passed down to the consumer, but what happens with the drugs you guys buy? The costs get passed down to consumers. The only difference is you guys choose to pay the premiums passed down to you, regardless everyone loses.

[-13 Points] chodenugget1:

Paypal fraud and having my bank acc hacked led me into carding. Ain't never looked back niqqa with mah staXXX gotta lurv me dat free shit

[-14 Points] want2vape:

You were inconvienenced. I think carders are shitheads, but your argument sucks OP.

[-14 Points] KikesRSubHuman:

That's what you get for using banks. If you aren't a part of the solution, you are part of the problem.

Get cancer.

[-17 Points] weedandcocaineplease:

Totally fucking bullshit post. Op was likely reimbursed for the fraudulent activity within 36 hours. ALL banks nowadays give their customers the benefit of the doubt and automatically credit your account with minimal investigation. I know because this has happened to me, my chick, and both my parents.
