USPS Rerouting my shipping delayed package 6 days extra so far, still no show. Weird shit or normal USPS fuck up?

So I order my first international k-pack of bars, CAN to US, it was shipped on a Monday, went through customs and arrived at a random NY PO the next day. On Wednesday it lands at my USPS Destination facility which is a 50 minute drive from my drop. Typcially from this point it's at my local PO and out for delivery the next day 75% of the time, 25% it will be out for delivery 2 days from that processing plant. So, I was expecting Thursday, maybe Friday for the drop. Well, Thurs, Fri, Sat all go by, still no package. Finally the 26th my tracking updates and my package was sent from my destination facility (50 minutes from drop) to a random US facility in Minnesota. This shit had me confused and thinking maybe they're returning it back up north or they're just fucking with me. 3 days later and tracking shows it's back at desination facility which means I'll typically have it in a day or two. Only OPSEC fuck up I have/had was checking the tracking 2-3 times a day from my home wifi, been reading up on this now. The order is going to auto-finalize in 2 days and some hours, here I am still no pack. It's a tried and true vendor that I wouldn't hesitate to FE with anyway so that's no major concern. If all these fuck-ups didn't happen, I'd have had the package already on last Thursday, today is the following Thursday, 10 days after being shipping.

My questions are:

Is it normal for packages to get thrown on a wrong truck or somehow get rerouted from the Destination Facility like this?

Why would they send the package 14 hours West of me when it was literally an hour away at a sort facility, then send it 14 hours back East to the same place?

It made it through NY customs and was being sent around to sort facilities. Customs is the riskiest part, where the most scrutinization of packages occurs, correct?

As I've stated, the package looks like it's back in re-route to my drop. Should I expect the package as if it just took a small detour thanks to a USPS fuck up? Or should I be more cautious and not sign for if asked, not open the pack for a few hours-days?

Also forgot to mention. If you google the zipcode of the MN address it was sent to, there are three USPS facilites located there. One stood out from the others named 'US Postal Service: Office of Inspector General'. Not trying to 'noid myself out or anything, but this is my first international pack. It's like my first time anal, the virginity's been lost and paranoia isn't as much of concern anymore as it was in the beginning, until this. Should I have any worries?

Thanks in advance!

I skimmed your experience . I had my order shipped either 21-23 made it was process through customs almost instantly then took an extra weird route that none of my packs ever took , Also it was more than.1 pack and the time stamps were almost identical . none the less they showed up

I am sort of agreeing with dlayover on this. I normally would say that what you are saying isn't "normal" but it happens and normally it's just a USPS fuck up. And it could be but yeah the whole inspector office in that zip code would be worrying. BUT how many of their are there? If there are a lot in major facilities then not a big deal. But if only a few then it is odd.

Unfortunately your opsec mistake is not a good one to make. However if you have MyUSPS and the tracking showed there you have a reason why you'd be checking it. How did you get the tracking? Was it vendor provided? Does it show in MyUSPS? Obviously if it doesn't show in MyUsps then it'll be hard to explain that you had no knowledge of the pack.

But I still do think it's probably okay. I think you have reason to be paranoid but still the odds are in your favor that it's a random USPS fuckup.

Shoukd you sign for it? Hmmm good question. I know many will disagree and don't take what I say as gospel but I would still sign for it. It's about playing the odds. If you don't sign and it gets RTS the pack will be uncovered. They'll see you checked tracking. It's highly likely the pack will get exposed. If it's a CD not signing won't save you I don't believe. But just my opinion. We play the odds here. And you have to play the odds that have best chance of working in your favor.

Ive had a package reroute in the opposite direction to a place called "federal way", turns out its a town but also a usps facility, my guess was that it got taken off for suspicion, they opened it found drugs repacked it and sent it on its way.

TBH they dont give a shit, what they are looking for are explosive, chemical weapons, biological weapons, heroin, crack/coke, meth, and large amounts of weed or pills.

i dont know what a k-pack is but if its not a box with street value over $10k they probably wont care and assume its some rx order from canada.

Had almost the same thing happen to me. CA to NY, down the east coast to my main routing station before it hits my PO for delivery. Boom, two states north the next day. Then to the Midwest. Back to my routing hub, to my PO, to my door. My packs little adventure added two days to its trip, but made it home safe and sound. No clue what happened, I did not call to ask.
