Couple Quick Questions from a NOOB

I have TAILS running off a flash drive, can I download the electrum wallet? I've been using persistence whenever I log in but I haven't downloaded anything from the TAILS os because I wasn't sure if it would come back after a shutdown. I think I'm ready to start buying but before I download any wallet software and subsequent bitcoins I want to be sure I don't loose everything. Also, what's the better trusted market at the moment, I'm hearing so many different things about each market, just looking for some opinions. Thanks a lot everyone.

the wallet shouldn't be wiped if you put it in the persistant folder but i'd also suggest that you keep it on a second usb just in case.

it's dfficult to recommend a market if you don't know what the other is looking for.

personally i have accounts on most markets which allows me totake advantage of the best deals and adjust my safety to the levels i deem necessary for different deals.

my faves are agora because they have a big variety of vendors and goods and are easy to use and TMP because i like the concept the high security and the savvy and mature userbase. plus the quality of the drugs there is very high imho

Store the wallet on a secondary Usb drive. Not sure but you could probably partition the drive you have tails on and keep it on there in the other partition. everything wipes after a shutdown or when you remove usb drive, this can be changed though i believe. Agora would be my recommendation but ive used SR2 frequently for trusted vendors because Sr2 has some stuff you cant find on other markets.

Only things you personally move to the Persistent directory are kept.

Basically you want to download the electrum source, extract it, and drag it to the Persistent folder. I rename the directory just "Electrum".

Then open the terminal in Tails (command line interface), and navigate the working directory to the Electrum directory.

If you aren't familiar with linux command line commands, "pwd" (print working directory) will tell you the directory you are currently in. "cd" is change directory. So you will do:

pwd

and should see "/home/amnesia"

You need to be in the Electrum directory that you moved to the persistent volume, so you'll do:

cd Persistent/Electrum

Once you're in the Electrum directory, you can start it, connecting through a hidden server, using:

./electrum -s 56ckl5obj37gypcu.onion:50001:t -p socks5:localhost:9050

If it does not connect, try the command again. The hidden server is slower so sometimes it apparently will not connect in time. I have the command saved in a txt file in the persistent directory, but that is not too secure as far as hiding evidence goes. You can just search the internet for "tails electrum" and you'll find the page on the tails site with the command.

Create a new wallet and be sure to record the seed physically, and hide it well when you don't need it - don't lose it! Your wallet will not be remembered in this configuration, which is for the best. You will need your seed to regenerate your wallet from the electrum server each time you restart tails. If you lose your seed you'll lose your wallet and money.
