History Of Darknet

On The Xanax Cartel, or whatever that shit is called, u/AlpraKing made a post called The History Of The Darknet Xanax Game.

I'm an academic interested in finding a link between darknet activity and cryptocurrency prices. As such, it's very nice to see u/AlpraKing's above post after looking no longer than 30 seconds on the subreddit.

Are there any highly detailed indices of both major and minor darknet activity over the past 7-ish years?

I don't know where to look, but finding such an index or multiple indices would make my research for the community loads easier.

Please no anecdotes or jokes. OK but only u/ForLol_Serious can joke. But seriously if anybody knows of any one or multiple indices, please share. Or if you think you might remember any, please share with information to help me try and find it.

Thank you all very much.

The only complete indices documenting the rise of Bitcoin and correlating DNM activities I geocashed long ago having tattooed the coordinates on my my inner labia in an indecipherable code.

If you want the code then you can eat me.

Might want to chat with /u/Deku-shrub. He's also a researcher and does a lot of the dnm-related edits on Wikipedia.

just a heads up that he copy / pasted that list of collected threads from a previous post and did not compile it himself.

your best chance is to follow the dnm scene yourself in the time you want to know about. as others have pointed out users like gwern and his site are a good starting point too.

Interesting project. Keren Elazari speculates that the ransomware attacks did much to fuel the rise in bitcoin prices, and that may have been the point as much as the small amounts of ransom victims were charged. So you might not want to be too tightly focused on dark markets. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vi_ZRAbzWYI

Somewhere on this sub was a link to the alphabay discussion forum archives. You might need to read through a ton of postings but may be helpful.

You can PM me and we can find a nice way to chat.

I don't do the work you are describing academically, I've made a career of speculating under those terms.

I remember when Silk Road was taken down btc dropped like half its value in 2 days. It was the cheapest I’ve ever paid for btc...$60 a coin. In the earlier days markets going down did seem to affect the price but no so much in the past 2-3 years.

I think most drug dealers keep diaries and various other records because it’s always good to have that.
