Using shapeshift/monero safely

So it's pretty well-known that Shapeshift keeps logs of addresses & all. I want to make sure I'm being as safe/private possible, as we all should. I use one monero address specifically for converting BTC to XMR so it's the only one I ever input on shapeshift's site. I do:

BTC exchange > electrum (clear) > shapeshift > monero wallet 1 (clear) > monero wallet 2 (tor/dark) > xmr.to > electrum (dark) > market

My question is this - which monero wallet is the best one to "churn" with? If I send to myself on the clear monero wallet or the dark one? Or should I create an extra clear and/or dark monero wallet in between the 2 that I already have & churn with that one?

Any wallet... there is a stack exchange question that has this answer.. I dont know where it is. realistically once the monero leaves the address of the initial wallet you received funds from SS with your good... its lost in the monero Anon... just make sure to not use the wallet tied to SS again.. if you ever need in -depth answers just post to the monero Sub

Is there any reason to use xmr.to instead of just using Shapeshift again? I'm trying to figure out why someone couldn't just use the above process but use Shapeshift a second time with a new vpn/Tor connection to Shapeshift. That way you could convert your XMR to more coins than just BTC. Currently I'm trying to pay with a merchant that doesn't accept Monero but accepts a lot of other coins. Bitcoin is too impractical and expensive.
