This is the second time i've seen a Bitcoin story in this sub that is either misrepresented or misreported in an effort to promote Monero.

I don't know if this is intentional, or if people really aren't understanding the news or research and don't see how using Bitcoins for DNMs isn't a problem addressed in the article or how 'use Monero' also isn't a solution.

What the IRS are doing here is linking exchange withdraws to Bitcoin wallets so they can find undeclared Bitcoin sums.

This is targetting people who purchased Bitcoins a while ago, made a heck of a capital gain on them, and have made either a single or multiple withdraws to bank accounts via exchanges and not declared it to the IRS. I'm familiar with the exact product the IRS has purchased here - it isn't new nor is it as scary as the marketing makes it sound).

If you follow the ABC advice on using Bitcoin which everyone knows - tumble, disconnect your transactions, use multiple wallets, don't send from markets to exchanges, and most important of all - don't withdrawal large sums of money without declaring it or laundering it.

There is nothing about Monero that suddenly gives you a money laundering route or a way to legitimize your income.

edit: as far as I can tell, there aren't even any markets at the moment that accept Monero. so who exactly is this 'use Monero' campaign aimed at? Theres nothing wrong with purchasing some Monero if you believe in it, and if you want to argue the merits of one over the other - then by all means do so - but the way to promote Monero isn't to trash Bitcoin with FUD - you're just going to have the opposite affect and damage Monero when people with a clue see all this.

I can't get monero to work... the daemon fails to start so I can't download any of the blocks or whatever. Ethereum isn't working either, gets to a certain number of blocks and chain structures then just stops, make no more progress. And I'm unable to do anything with my bitcoins, because my multibit wallet has stopped working - it decided to send half the balance to itself which never got confirmed, then it just stopped openeing and my password stopped working. Even after uninstalling, reinstalling using my wallet words, resetting the password, it worked for a day and now the correct password isn't working again and restoring from words does nothing. All of this started days ago, still no progress.

why the fuck does my computer hate cryptocurrency all of a sudden

can anyone please help

Using Monero a while now and i do like it. I am ordering from Wall Street Market using Monero only and its really easy.

The best thing: It cant be traced that easy like BTC.

Good online wallet: https://mymonero.com/

Hope more Vendors gonna accept Monero in the future.

Please give your post a meaningful title. That means for example 'Vendor Inquiry - Does anybody has experience with the vendor X' instead of 'I have a question'. Thanks.

Been saying this for ages, that the powers that be will have sneaked in their own product, let it gather a small following, take out BTC and youre the new currency of choice.

I wouldn't trust anything other than BTC.
