creating a vendor DD onion site. is a dedicated server really necessary?

i am a vendor looking to create my own private DD onion site. i have the technical knowledge to do it myself. i plan on using php, wordpress, and a bitcoin e-commerce plug in with an off site wallet. no funds will be stored on the server. hosting account will be purchased anonymously with bitcoin.

i know the ideal method is to use a dedicated server and use VMs to compartmentalize different portions of the server. but i would prefer to host it on a VPS because it is easier and cheaper to set up. the problem is that the hosting company can snoop around easier on a VPS. considering no bitcoin or sensitive data will be stored on the server, is a dedicated server really necessary?

how many of you vendors with DD sites currently use a VPS?

if you really had that knowledge you would know that running a hs on a vps and not a dedicated server is bad opsec. I think it is even mentioned on the Tor faq page somewhere. this is basic stuff.

Wordpress, huh? Surely nothing can go wrong!

And if cheap VPSs* are still the same shit they were a year or two ago, don't even think about using one.

Back then almost every private shop had /server-status exposed - and simply spamming F5 manually already got the load up to ~35-70%.

*that you can anonymously pay for.

Don't skimp on a server. It's apparent you have no idea how to do this

i have no technical knowledge but i think the hosting company can snoop on both vps and servers..i mean whats the difference, isnt just one virtual and the other not virtual?

Wordpress is a no go.

Do not use a vps. Sure dedicated servers that are considered bulletproof are expensive but it's better to be safe than sorry. Sure paying anonymously grants you some wiggle room but if any experienced hacker tried or the server owner realized what was going on, your server gets changed to deposit funds into their wallet from orders instead of yours and that's the best case scenario. Acquaint yourself with some high end spam groups (these people can be tough to handle because of their attitudes, but using the "I'm a dark net vendor" card will grant you a lot of leeway with them) and youll find truly bulletproof hosts. Once again, not cheap, but you're in the business of making money, does a few hundred bucks a month for proper hosting negate the risk of using something that could get you nailed at worse or all fund stolen at best? I think so. The people who run large spam botnets know the proper hosts to use that won't shut you down and won't divulge information to le. Learn to speak Russian because most of these guys are either Russian or know how to speak it decently enough to get by. You'll have to do some digging to find them, but they are out there. Look for former members of Darkode who haven't been busted, and other underground hacker groups. They know the hosts that would set you up proper.
