To whoever is thinking about starting SR3 or another darknet market... get your god damn shit together!

Not a user, just interested observer. Major face palms all around with this shit... first the major screw ups with DPR, and not this with Defcon (I dont know the stories at all for the other markets)? WTF.

One word: OpSec - fucking learn it!

Here is some tips if you are thinking of trying to become an internet druglord/kingpin :)

Its going to be a real piss off if whoever comes up next makes the same retarded mistakes as their predecessors... Third times a charm right?

This all seems like common sense to me. So how isn't it common sense to those who are clearly more qualified than me?

If you really want a marketplace that is impossible to take down it has to be decentralized and no single person should be in control of it.

Basically what you need is to start a software platform for a decentralized marketplace. It'll have legal uses so in theory it should't be illegal. Then someone starts SR3 on it and lets it go into the wild. This is obviously an over simplification because there are way more technical challenges like how do you update but it's still the best solution. The Pirate Bay is taking a similar approach.

Do you think he was really dumb enough to do that stuff? A theory I have is it seems more like he was working with the feds from the start because he was involved in Silk Road 1, so they made him use shitty opsec so they could later say that was how they found him. Later he somehow angered the feds and they busted him, or they knew he wouldn't play by their rules and set him up regardless. Just a theory though, one that I'm currently not necessarily convinced of :)

most def :) first off tor is compromised . the powers that be most defiantly have something up there selves that they are not talking about . to quote wired online mag .

Asked how Operation Onymous located the sites, Europol’s Oerting was unapologetically secretive. “This is something we want to keep for ourselves,” he said. “The way we do this, we can’t share with the whole world, because we want to do it again and again and again.”

another thing that just blows my mind , is why did he do everything all on one computer . making 8 million a month . i would always be on the move with a separate laptop where i would only use it to open a chain my vpns ,open a vm player or even anthoer within that vmplayer , then connect to a tor at some star bucks some where in middle america lol .

I never used SR2 simply because it's taunting the government, and I had hoped it would provide some sort of shield for the smaller markets as they focus on the big ones, but looks like they're tactics are to him em hard and as many as possible. I dont know if agora and evo have better security and thats why they're still active, but Im laying low for a while till the shit get wiped off the windsheild. I want a steady source and not have to deal with outside markets and escrow, some vendors I've grown to trust. And regardless if I do get fkd over, would be nothing different than what just happened.
