Freedom and Xanax Addiction

I've been a big proponent of the darknet markets for years. If anyone remembers, I was even a mod--mr_o--wayyy back on /r/silkroad with jmkogut (if you all remember that douchebag!) and Astrid when he (yes, he) was SpydaKrazy, and I was a mod here too maybe a year and a half ago or so. So I've been around, I've seen it all.

It's great that people have access to high quality LSD, rather than getting sold 25i on the streets and going to the hospital; it's fantastic that you're scoring unadulterated MDMA instead of a mixture of God knows what for triple the price at a festival. You can procure excellent dope without going into dangerous neighborhoods or worrying about a fent cut. You can have that flaky, shiny, beautiful fishscale delivered right to your door to use to impress the shit out of that girl so she'll take her pants off for you.

If you're encrypting, using Tor properly, employing all the basic Opsec techniques for your own protection, then the DNMs are a dream come true for any drug user.

There are some downsides and it's somethings I've been noticing more and more that are forcing me to reevaluate just how safe and liberating these markets are.

Now, of course, I believe in self-determination and personal responsibility and choice, but I've been seeing a lot of people desperately and hopelessly become addicted to benzos (e.g. xanax, etizolam, diazepam, etc.) without proper supervision or an appreciation of just how incredibly powerful these substances are and how simply popping a few pills here and there will fundamentally change the landscape of your entire life. These kids who have begun and maintained xanax addictions solely through the DNMs and, fuck, what happens when that package is delayed, or that vendor disappears or gets busted and you only have 2 left, well oh shit. What are you gonna do now?

Maybe I shouldn't single out benzos--people are hooked on meth and crack and H just the same--but judging by post frequency benzo addiction appears to be a particularly acute concern here. It's also the cheapest habit to maintain, in my opinion.

It's really great the DNMs have opened up people's worlds to a level of safety, potency, purity, availability, etc. of substances they never would have dreamed they'd have access to. The downside is people are getting in wayyy over their heads with very powerful and immensely addictive substances where talk of personal responsibility goes out the window in the face of withdrawals that might kill you.

Be careful out there, kids. That's all.

I am familiar with a somewhat underground service that helps people taper off benzos safely as not only DNMs making it so easy to get a hold of, it's one of the most irresponsibly (IMO) drugs prescribed. I was severely dependent on ativan many years ago without taking a single pill not prescribed to me. I was on a very high dose and back then not educated yet and had no idea you can't just stop taking 12mg of it every day. I ended up in the ICU for a few days, and a regular room for a whlie after.

I was fortunate to have a social worker refer me to a general practicioner who was willing to prescribe me a very very slowly decreasing dose and tapered myself off over the matter of several months.

The subject is very close to my heart after my own experience and I have many times helped people structure their own tapers. I work in pharmaceuticals and I OBSESSED over the biochemistry of neurochemical and biochemical changes the use of benzos cause and am rather committed to educating people on the safe use of them, but more importantly the safe discontinuation of use as doing it wrong can cause in the short term severe, possibly fatal symptoms and in the long term, permanent damage to certain hormone production, ability to produce the correct amount of receptors that the neurochemical that benzo's replace, as well as the potential of never producing an adequate amount of the neurochemical on one's own, making them require to stay on some dose of benzos or live with a range of uncomfortable (but not fatal) symptoms and issues.

They're not to be played fast and loose with. They have their place, but it's very easy to expand out of there.

A lot of people don't think about how easy DNMs make it to support an addiction (or start one). Especially newer/younger users. This is an important topic to bring up. Nice post, Knight O' the Lions

Benzos suck. I had to be hospitalized when I withdrew. Couldnt have done it sans dnms. They will make u forget everything but u will never forget them

[7 Points] DANDANtheHATman:

While you're right that Benzos are ridiculously addictive and dangerous -- the thing that worries me about the drugs is that in one of the primary reddit demographics (18-30 y/o males) the drugs seem to be really accepted by the party and frat scene.

These drugs are so problematic because people don't treat them with the same respect that they do with other prescription or opiate addictions.

I can't emphasize enough -- while they do have a social benefit for those who are a little anxious and do well with them, using any drug as a staple of your life without prescription can be incredibly punishing.

Ive been on xanax or Klonopin for around 7 years now. On and off. and yeah its a bitch to get off of. I have tapered and felt like I was almost back to normal, but xanies just make me a more productive person. Its strange. I hate to be reliant on anything but it's the one thing that actually helps me get things done if i take it responsibly.

I was originally prescribed by a DR for 5 years then i found the DNM's and omg its was so much cheaper. My habit defiantly increased after buying here, but I try to keep it to half a bar a day. the worst i got is when i bought 100mg of pure alp and diluted in PG... i was redosng like a mutha fucka.

Ill kick this shit eventually, but why does it have to help me maintain so well?? what else could have a similar effect?

[5 Points] dnmlurkernomore:

My bennzo story goes a little like this. Read about them here. Purchased a g of alp from labgradepharma just to "tryi it out" made a pg solution and intertwined it with alcohol and had some of the most embarassing experiences of my life. Mostly my fault but i would of never even tried them if it wasnt for the DNM to be honest. Its my fault for irresponsible but they are some easy things to overdue, make a fool of yourself and to combat that embarassed feeling you indulge more. Vicious cycle. Dont get me wrong i still keep some on hand but i definitely use them to just come down nowadays, never recreationally.

Good , good post. I can speak from experience because I was addicted to Xanax and Klonopin + I was on methadone also at this time in my life and Let me tell you, it was a living fucking hell. Cannabis has REPLACED all my medication needs.. Be Careful anyone taking those substances & stay safe DNM community. :)

They can just get their benzos on the clearnet from India like I do

Benzos are a much bigger deal, because if your package doesn't arrive and you are addicted to 60mg of alprazolam powder a day, you are fucked. You will have convulsions, seizures, and probably will die. And walking into an emergency room and telling the staff that you are addicted to 60mg of xanax a day and need detox generally doesn't work, because no one will believe you were addicted to such a high dose.

Don't fuck with benzos.

You could say the same about fent.... Super cheap alternative for heroin users but in the wrong hands its a death sentence. Still love it though lol

[2 Points] imnotfrosty:

I once thought for a while on building a machine programmed with a taper that would dispense squirts of benzos suspended in propylene glycol. In a vast majority of cases, self-administration of benzos has a very unfortunate outcome.

[2 Points] Zathras_listens:

Remember there is no shame in going to the hospital for a medical detox. Having to admit you have a problem is better than being dead from seizers. And hey if your lucky you get really cute nurses to take care of you! (last time I was in for a booze detox I had the hottest nurse ever in the ICU, too bad my DT's were so bad I shat myself...) If you need to stop and can't taper GO TO THE ER. Tell them you are withdrawing, they will help you. Stay safe out there, and be careful with those gabba drugs!

Not a benzo fan but all I know is I would've never known what is like to almost get hospitalized from a cocaine binge were it not for the darknet. That I could've done without but you live and learn.

As someone whos brother has a very serious benzo/hydro addition i genuinely feel bad when I see people get addicted to the shit
