Good day to my Brothers and Sisters and fellow marketeers. I made this post in order to try and possibly help some of you avoid being phished. I care about all people and I wish all of us had only positive experiences using these markets
Quite recently I was made a moderator of /r/DreamMarketplace. I get alot of PM's from all sorts of users with all sorts of random ass questions. One re-occuring question I get is "where are my coins?" Let me say this, Reddit has NO official sub for Dream Market. Over at the sub where I moderate, we are all just users of the site, no market admin and none of us are affiliated with the market itself. That sub exist only to share vendor experiences, watch each others backs for scams, and keep an eye on Dream in case we notice that the ship starts to sink.
It breaks my heart to know some folks get robbed around "HERE" on a daily basis. I know that it is due to phishing links because I have deleted some in the sub where I am a mod. The nucleus sub is littered with them. I even removed a phishing link to AB in our sub. All links are now disabled in that sub and unless I verify it myself, it will not be allowed. I instantly allow links to pics and what-not, but NO market links because I don't have the time to check every one.
I would like to make everyone aware that by choosing a link from anywhere on reddit you are taking a gamble. The moderating side bar is much different than the average users sidebar. At any point in time, a moderator of a sub can change the links in their side bar and what they say, then change it back and have you look and feel stupid for not knowing where your coins are. So here is my advise on how to avoid the scum of the earth phishermen.
1- So you have in mind which market you'd like to use.
2- Find as many URL addresses for your respected market from as many sources as you can (various subs, grams, etc.) Most markets don't require a referral so I'd stay away from those.
3- Cross reference these URL's with one another.
4- Once you are 100% possitive that you have the correct URL, save that shit somewhere, bookmarked on tor, an encrypted file, preferably with persistance on tails.
Now that you have a "personally verified" URL saved, NEVER use a link again. The links you use today might be a trap tommorrow. Always copy/paste your "verified" URL into the address bar. Even though you feel like you can trust a link from your "favorite" places, never underestimate the power of human GREED. I hope this post helps at least one person. Y'all be smart about the DNM's and stay safe.
A tip on the sidebar or the market superlist. While it is true a mod can change the URL at any time, all changes are audited and viewable by anyone. When obtaining your link for the superlist check the change log of the wiki page. If it was changed recently, investigate. I believe there is even a built in diff/compare so you can see what changed.
Taking this extra step helps guard against this practice of changing the superlist and replacing with bad links.
