NSA Project of Quantum Computer to break "Strong Encryption" including PGP revealed by leaked documents.

NSA leak documents have revealed a project about a Quantum computer to break strong encryption, this includes of course the PGP encryption used on the DarkMarkets.

Here is the Article from "The Verge" :

http://www.theverge.com/2014/1/2/5267430/nsa-reportedly-secretly-funding-code-breaking-quantum-computer-research

The original article from the "Washington Post" :

www.washingtonpost.com/world/national-security/nsa-seeks-to-build-quantum-computer-that-could-crack-most-types-of-encryption/2014/01/02/8fff297e-7195-11e3-8def-a33011492df2_story.html

Here you can find the original NSA documents about "Penetrating Hard Targets" meaning target using strong encryption.

http://apps.washingtonpost.com/g/page/world/a-description-of-the-penetrating-hard-targets-project/691/

Another article where everything is explained by a MIT scientist.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/the-switch/wp/2014/01/02/confused-about-the-nsas-quantum-computing-project-this-mit-computer-scientist-can-explain/

Of course these news are not implying a Quantum computer is already in function but they are showing that NSA is actively researching ways to break strong encryption like PGP.

This is definitely one of the worst coming threats to the security of the DarkMarkets which rely a lot on encryption.

Of course the quantum computer is probably not yet developed for the moment but knowing the capabilities of NSA it could soon becom a reality.

Actually, quantum computing is still many, many decades away. Yes, many governemtns do things behind closed doors but the technology required for quantum computing does simply not exist yet. If they did, we would see them in routine life (generally in the manufacturing process and cost of items) that could be revealed without disclosing a quantum computer has been created.

At this point I honestly wouldn't be surprised if they already have such a computer. The government often has technology that the general populace doesn't find out about until years or even decades later.

They already have one. its the dwave. The D-Wave TwoTM system is a high performance computing system designed for industrial problems encountered by Fortune 500 companies, government and academia. Our latest superconducting 512-qubit processor chip is housed inside a cryogenics system within a 10 square meter shielded room.

could this bring on quantum encryption? maybe thats a stupid question - i understand you would probably need your own quantum computer for that so and they wouldnt be affordable for most

lol the nsa gives a fuck about any of us i bet they have a whole team dedicated to just watching people on this reddit, those birds outside, their NSA spies better keep your voice down and speak in pig latin

This is my most stereotypical reddit post in a long time... but those quotations around The Verge and Washington Post make me cringe
