The story of Ross?

It would be cool if we could compile a huge page of info about Ross and the founding/end of silk road. The CNN/VICE articles about the situation are complete shit and I think it would be a nice tribute to the man who made all this possible. Feel free to post anything you know/can find about him.

Wired put out a rather lengthy two-part article over the past month which I think did a beautiful job at describing the situation. Here's part 1 and part 2.

I saw a thread here a week or so back about the second part where gwern had raised some interesting points about it, though. You can find those here. That entire thread is pretty interesting and speculates several things that might be misleading about the articles.

Also, here's another of gwern's posts about the SR trial and includes links to things like Ross' journal and part of the SR spreadsheet.

I know i am probably going to get downvoted and hated on for this but it needs to be said. The amount of hypocrisy in this sub reddit is through the roof. I dont use the darkwebs but find the whole idea pretty interesting and a step in the right direction... I see a lot of people on this subreddit calling the carders of the forum scum of the earth but praising the fuck out of Ross. The guy was trying to have people murdered. Sure he made this market into what it is today but as a community, i feel like we should distance ourselves from the guy to help further the cause. I know a lot of people are just here to buy drugs but the darkwebs is a platform for a step in the right direction in drug policy. If this community wants to have any legitimacy we need to stand up and say that we dont condone this kind of stuff. We need to appreciate what he did but get away from glorifying someone who is taking away from our cause. Downvote away
