FBI - We cracked terrorist's iPhone

Law enforcement officials were able to break into the phone used by Syed Farook with the help of an unnamed third party. Government officials did not go into detail about what was found on the phone.

"Since the court order is costing them too much money to erode our liberty, they decided to tell the truth "we actually cracked their iphone in the first place.."

So.. yeah..

What a bunch of double-talking scumbags. I saw this coming a mile away when this was first on the news about them trying to get apple to give them access. It seemed like total BS they needed apple's approval.

But....Back doors make all of us safer!!!!! This makes me sick to my stomach...its never been about keeping us safe...its always been about control over every aspect of our lives!!!!!!

All that bullshit because it was a 'Terrorist's Phone.' If this isn't proof that they're trying to strip our rights away, I don't know what is. It's amazing how can they just do it to our faces and no one bats an eye these days.

BTW, haven't seen this on the news section of any major reporter. Surprise surprise.

[4 Points] qsift2:

yea they already cracked it and still generated controversy to try and get these privacy/security laws changed faster...boo hoo & fuck their manipulation

Meth_9000 you always speak the truth

The government knew they could get into his shit from the start anyways, it's the fucking government.

[1 Points] None:

Of course they did. John McAfee said he and/or his friends could do it. I believed him when he said that. Fuck, his mate Chris Roberts hacked a plane mid flight and temporarily altered its flight path slightly thru the planes inflight passenger entertainment/wifi system. If a plane can be hacked in this manner I am certain a iphone is nothing but a cake walk for people with this skill level. Its terrifying to think such things are possible but clearly they are a fact we must now face. I'll never fly a modern plane again. I'll stick to old prop planes and budget airlines who have the bare minimum of electronics/computers allowed if I must fly again knowing this.

Same deal with modern cars. I'd rather have the 3000lbs of a gas guzzling metal monster from the 80s than a brand new car that could be potentially hacked by some uber skilled psycho that gets off on such shit. I trust mechanical parts and steel far more than electronics and computers to keep me safe. There is always a way to physically regain control of an out of control mechanical based machine but very little to take back control of an electronic/computerized one once its been compromised. I've heard stories of pilots/drivers ripping thru the interior to gain access to the cables that control the mechanical parts of the plane/car to regain control. We put too much faith in technology these days rather than bare mechanics. I'd rather rely on old mechanics than new age tech.

They were looking for a scapegoat and deniability

Would android device encryption be trivial to crack? I guess we can assume it is.

[1 Points] PWEI:

Good for the FBI but so fucked up for Apple.

[1 Points] TheDankNet:

Dumb-asses. Almost any device can be broken into nowadays with indefinite physical access.

I'll bet anything that the "unnamed party" was John McAfee
