Alright, who was it...
Someone fucked up! Not good.
Caution in this area, because its likely they will raise awareness at post offices regionally.

Christopher Cook, spokesman for the Arlington Police Department, says the family initially opened the box solely to see if they could find a return address.
ya except the box made it all the way through the system to someones drop and some nice family opened it up. you think the postal service is completely oblivious to this?

From the article:
A family, new to Arlington, just moved in. They were not expecting any packages. And they did not order any weed, certainly not seven pounds to be delivered by the U.S. Postal Service.
Of course they aren't going to admit to it. Sheesh. ;)

When will people learn to use their real name and address?

I think you were asking rhetorically who fucked up but I actually have seen a couple of very active threads in places with people discussing delivery exceptions for packs they sent to ghost drops. They know of the exceptions because they know every fucking detail about their order whether it made it to their hands or not. These stupid fuckers have basically revealed that they not only signed up for the "My USPS" account but they have their real names associated with dead drops as well as their home! Then they blow the fuck up out of the tracking software and accessing the package through their USPS acct. How dumb is it to actually use the service? smh
I have not called any of them out. This is the funniest (read ODD) thing I have seen among any of the recent groups of Freshmen. These are people that think proper OPSEC is tracking packages via Tor and have no idea that doing that is a sure way to raise eyebrows on a tracking number. Apparently they don't feel there is any value to plausible deniability and also think that parallel construction by US Postal Inspectors could never be used on them! I have not called them out because during the Holidays I like to make lots of orders so I truly appreciate their presence as Sacrificial low hanging fruit until at least the Bowl Games.
Seriously, you may joke but the reason that one day the USPS will convince Congress to spend the money on devices to find all contraband is because some fool will use a dead drop and some guy like Chuck Schumer will twist it to say a child found and OD on drugs found in a vacated mailbox. It baffles the shit out of me that there are people involved in the game these days that are so utterly clueless that they find no problem with or feel no fear of opting in, via electronic signatures and Identity verification's, to a USPS program that's entire goal is to track their parcels every 50 feet from vendors hand to their door or the lot next door. They literally have asked the USPS to meticulously identify, document, track, then notify them once or twice a day through emails and texts of how their bag of heroin is doing in the delivery channel.

Honest question, why did the new owners open a package that didn't have their name on it? Isn't that a felony too? And they had to open the box for a return address? There wasn't a return address printed on the box (a fake one)? And was there no mylar bag to keep them from seeing what it is? Sounds really fishy.

"Welcome to the neighborhood! Here's 7 pounds of dank for you and your family! Happy holidays!"

IMO 7 pounds of weed is too damn much to send via USPS.

“Postal inspectors say they believe they can figure out pretty quickly where it originated from.” Likely, not the North Pole.
Good one, great way to end the article. /s

I like the fact that (7) pounds moved through the mail system unnoticed.
[1 Points] DOPE_CHRIST:
When they opened it they immediately saw the weed? That would mean no MBB, no decoy, no anything for seven pounds? It was all in one package too? I'm guessing they just threw it in there with the vacuum seal and said fuck it.
Buy a new house, and get 7 pounds in the mail.
Truly an amazing country.
