Since the Ag is going down, I was wondering what your guys stance is on the rep wipe situation. I know that a lot of people had a lot of purchases and probably a good rep and it's kind of disappointing to have to start over for each market.
A lot say it is good OpSec to use a different handler for each market, and if that is the case it is truly difficult to deal with reputation lag.
I've thought of 3 solutions.
1) - Pgp veri - while this may work for some it's not my personal favorite for the following reasons. First unless the people you are dealing with had your public, it really makes no difference, and anyone could post a new pub and it would checksum, but it makes no verification. Also, this is similar to using the same handler - a piece of linking information.
2) The vouch system. While this is good in certain respects, unless you have someone with rep vouching for you it really doesn't speak volumes.
3) Linked handlers. In theory there really isn't too much wrong with this, since a pub key and handler could be verified by third party with crypto for the most part intact. Some say that it is easier to be phished like this, but in my experience this is statistical tug of war rather then real world exploit. Not saying phish doesn't happen, especially when migrating, but it can be mitigated by true U checking.
Now of course this is different when you are dealing with a vendor that one had dealt with in the past on a different market, and what I call 2-step verification can occur. But a new market, new vendor, and lack of credentials kind of sucks.
I know a lot had this problem with 1.0
I don't use other markets when my main market is down. I generally just contact any vendors via E-mail that I want to use and try do off-site deals, I'm confortable doing this with a few vendors.
One of the reasons I don't use other markets when mine is down is because of rep lag and what I call refugee lag as well!
