It's been a big week for LE to prey on folks with shitty OPSEC. I mean, how are you going to register for a server with your gmail account, which is also you name? Really? Holy shit. How can you not learn from past mistakes and in the process, make bigger ones. What a clusterfuck.
Now, you're probably asking, "But, bob, what are you going to now for your trips and tabs and such?" I'm glad you asked, little Jimmy. I'm going to do what I have always done. I'm going to order from a market that isn't a running joke. I'm going to order from trusted vendors and I'm going to use 4096 PGP for all sensitive communication. Simple as that. I don't understand why PGP is optional with some (if few) vendors still. I know it's not the absolute easiest thing to use, but if you can't encrypt your info, you have no place on the DNMs. Sorry. There are plenty of resources available to make it easy to understand.
Most of my business has been with Evo, even though there has been a lot of speculation that Evo is setup as a honeypot for LE. I tend to think that if that was the case, it most definitely would've been part of Onymous. Agora and Evo are still kicking, if running a little slower from all of the increased traffic, I'm sure. There are a few others gasping for vendors and buyers that will surely see more use. Even if they did change their name to S*** R*** reloaded. There has been a call to just outright stop using the silk road moniker all together for obvious reasons, but I guess some folks didn't read said memo.
The outcome of all of this intrusion and effort will be the same as it was the first time around with SR1. More markets will open up with stricter security, vending to plenty of customers not wanting to take advantage of increased security measures. Either out of sheer stupidity or laziness, there will always be someone ready to ruin it for everyone one else. Will decentralization with OpenBazaar be the key? Other anonymizing services (i2p) have failed to take hold. I guess we will all find out around the same time. Meanwhile, I have an order to make...for acid. Gimme a week to get my tolerance back down and I'll post a vendor review.
Until next time, 4096 PGP, y'all.
This is such a Reddit thing to do, but prey, not pray.
