Hi there, we're back with another story from our treasure chest.
Cast off, hoist the tin foil sails and brace yourself, the wind is strong with this one.
ps: I deleted the other post as the title wasn't appropriate. Apologies.
Hoist the Tinfoil Sails: How a BTC exchange owner became the undercover agent that closed the Silk Road.

I read the whole thing, I'm still not clear if "Cirrus" was:
a random citizen running a BTC-to-cash exchange, who was arrested and flipped by the feds, and then continued in that capacity as an informant.
an actual FBI agent who assumed the role of the above citizen.
The article seems to suggest the latter, but solid proof either way would include evidence of the arrest of "T. O.", which was missing. Is it possible to arrest someone, charge them with crimes, possibly even sentence them and keep it totally out of the public record?

Great work.

Holy shit. I actually called that one and posted about it a few days ago. It makes sense that they would flip a bitcoin vendor.
People had been referring to Cirrus/CaptainMal/Scout as "her" privately since around 2012. Rumor has it that a female or two was hired because they were considered more trustworthy, more organized and better suited for support. Out of all of the Silk Road original admins who sent off their ID's to DPR, why was Cirrus spared in the 2013 moderator purge? I don't know who supplied the screengrab for the Vice article but yeah, people have long suspected Cirrus of shenanigans.
Now that I am now 80% sure I can predict the future, I'm going to stop doing so many drugs and stuff now and start looking into the stock market. Also, Belize looks good this time of year.

Thanks for removing the D word from the post title, but I still think this is a dox. And a very serious one at that.

Dox? I think not.

So, it looks like this story has just been censored from the front page of /r/bitcoin. So I guess there's that.

Does anyone know when exactly emailgate was? (when DPR found out about the FBI agent contacting Scout on her Tormail)

This is awesome work and the drama is what keeps me coming back.
