Anybody here use Qubes OS?

It's harder to get set up but I thinks it's well worth it.

I use Qubes-Whonix with a custom configured Raspberry Pi tor bridge.... drug induced paranoia ftw.

the first thing you need to do is make sure your laptop will run it.....they have as list of what it will & will not run on :-)

I love qubes, a lot of fun. I was using because I am just a bit paranoid about security. Its hard to use, but its worth it in the end. The ability to shutdown whole virtual computers is very satisfying. Knowing that everything is contained in a little box is nice. I had always thought people used tails for dark web stuff.

Yes, if you are comfortable with with your skills and you've spent a considerable amount of time with Linux, it can be a very solid and secure OS. Probably one of the best that you'll find.

It's been around for a long time, only recently becoming pretty well known ever since Edward Snowden made a mention of it in one of his interviews.

However, if you're not careful and you don't use it properly, it's not going to help you in the way that it should. So be sure you know what you're getting into. I recommend that you read their documentation and make some print outs. Keep some notes handy.

It will take you some time to get used to how it all works, and make it a fluid experience but when you do, it's an amazing experience and especially secure.

Anyway, I hope that helps. In the end, it all depends on the user. If you know what you're doing, you should be fine. If not, I'm afraid you won't have a very good time.

And keep in mind, it is in no way a typical operating system. When they say that everything is compartmentalized, they mean it. And this makes it very difficult to use.
