Metal detectors to look for tracking devices in packages

So i was reading here: https://paste2.org/6341LfJ1 (Use tor to check it if your ISP has it blocked) and it has a part which says "In addition to preparing the anticipatory search warrant, investigators may consider placing an electronic alarm device within the suspect parcel. This court-ordered tracking device emits a tone once placed inside the parcel. When the recipient opens the parcel, the device emits a tone that alerts investigators that the parcel has been opened. The placement and monitoring of this type of electronic device requires issuance of a court order. Application for a court order-authorized mobile tracking device is a separate document from the anticipatory search warrant. The mobile tracking device order should indicate that law enforcement placed the device in a suspected package parcel to track the parcel to its ultimate destination and to alert that the parcel has been opened. No monitoring of conversation is permitted under these circumstances. Typically, the initial tone of the device is a slow beep tone and once the alarm has been triggered, it emits a fast, flowing tone. The criteria for use of an electronic device are the size of the parcel. It is very difficult to place, for example, a device in an overnight envelope. The box should be large enough to house this type of device. Law enforcement agencies can purchase these electronic alarm devices from a variety of vendors. The device is the size of a credit card or smaller, and less than 1/8in thick. In preparation for the controlled delivery, investigators should conduct pre-surveillance of the targeted location in an attempt to identify any individuals related to the case or any suspicious activity at the location. In a controlled delivery operation, law enforcement should take the same steps as for preparation of any search warrant execution. An operational briefing should be conducted; entry teams and search teams will be assigned with regard to execution of the search warrant."

So i was wondering if any of you more paranoid buyers have ever invested in a metal detector so as to check for such tracking devices in parcels? I tried googling about whether or not the cheaper end detectors can detect thin wires (as would presumably be present in such a tracker) but only found stuff about looking for wires underground.

Thoughts?

Not only do I have a metal derector but I bought a drug sniffing dog to make sure the pack actually HAS drugs in it before opening

But isnt mylar made with aluminum?

Nah.

Interesting thought.

How about instead of a costly metal detector bring a big ole phat magnet? Slap it on the pack, rub it around.

Magnets fuck electronics up. Might be on to something.

You could just let the package sit near your door until you're sure there aren't any cops staking out your place. Take a walk around your neighborhood after getting the package and note any vehicles with antennas etc. parked around. Some people wait a few days for their package to cool off but I just tear mine open outside.

I might have read this years ago in high times. It's probably some half baked advice from the old days before we had the DNM, just stoners mailing weed around the country.

LOL! A metal detector....What you NEED is an RF detector, you know those things you see people use to sweep their cars to make sure there are no tracking decives placed underneath?

Any device like the one described in the article gives off a radio frequency (which is what the RF in "RF DETECTOR" stands for if it wasn't obvious and an RF detector WILL pick it up and let you know theres a bug inside the box just as long as you don't buy a piece of shit one with terrible range and that only reads certain frequncies.

Spend a few hundred bucks. I sweep my car every morning and of course scan every package I receive before opening....I am shocked at how many vendors do not use them when they are so easily available.

Dr. Xanax was busted mostly in part to a tracking device place under a car. If he spent a couple hundred bucks and swept his car, maybe he'd still be around.
