I was thinking about something earlier today, and searched but couldn't find an answer. If you were getting pills delivered, and they were rattling around in the package, would USPS ever x-ray the parcel to see what's in there?

If there was sufficient probable cause then they would not only x-ray, but open and inspect the package.

Also, most vendors would make sure they weren't rattling around. Whenever I've gotten pills they've been scotch taped to something or in a little cardboard folder-type-deal that's sealed inside the package and is too small for the pills to rattle around in.
The good news is that USPS (and probably most other carriers in the US) deliver legitimate prescriptions with pills rattling around in them every day, so that's not necessarily suspicious. Now if somebody sent you some pills in a regular letter envelope, that might cause some problems.
