Increasing laptop OPSEC

I've been using my personal laptop for browsing and using markets through TOR for the past few months. When I first began, I read about downloading TAILS and running it off a flashdrive. However, I had already used the markets a few times and I thought, well it's too late now.

I'm getting to the point where I need to increase OPSEC. That means no usage on personal computers. I was reading through posts about DBAN and encrypting laptops and I was wondering if anyone could offer any tips for that (i've only wiped my computer once and it wasn't with DBAN. I also use GpgEX to encrypt files, but I need something that'll encrypt the entire harddrive.)

After I DBAN my harddrive, i'm sure there are technologies that allow the old data to be recovered still, no? I'm acquiring a cheap laptop to plug TAILS into...should I just keep my personal laptop hidden in case anything were to happen (it's worth about 2k and I really don't want to part ways with it, but if absolutely necessary I will).

They'd really have to be after you to be able to dig up anything (if at all) after a few DBAN passes.

Luks full disk encryption on most linux distros is solid as far as I know. Just don't forget your passwooooooorddddddd.

Edit: if you're really paranoid, just buy a new drive.
