Okay so, I order, and this convo, paraphrased, happens:
Vendor: Slight issue with your order, contact me via wicker at [username]
Me: I'm worried about wicker's security since it's closed-source and doesn't look like it has a Tails version. Can we talk about it here on the marketplace instead? My account lists my PGP public key if you need that
Vendor: I can't sign your transaction here on the marketplace, that's why I wanted to discuss on wicker and find another way to do the transaction
Me: I understand, however I'd like to keep all convos and transactions on the marketplace so there's a record. If that doesn't work for you then I'd like to apologize and request a refund.
At which point he did do the refund. So... I understand why he'd want to take extra security when moving money, but if the marketplace doesnt "see" the transaction then I could never dispute it if I had to. Weird or am I paranoid?
Asking to deal on wickr doesn't always have to be shady but this all does sound kinda suspicious. It's always better to be safe than sorry, I think you handled it the right way. I vote weird. Yeah if you paid off the marketplace there would be no dispute option.
