Drops: PO Box at Post Office v.s. UPS Store v.s. Mom/Pop Mailbox Rental

Pros and cons of each? Or can I use any of the above?

People seem to prefer PO boxes because those folks are government employees bound by law not to open your packages without a warrant.

There have been horror stories about mom/pop places that opened packages and took the person down. It's not clear to me they actually have the right to open packages, though they could put it in their contract that you sign. I've looked up UPS store contracts, and never found one with a clause like that. If you ship UPS they can open it, but a UPS store box is not the same thing.

They both seem fine. PO boxes are cheaper. I'd avoid mom and pop, probably, just because those are the people who will probably do what they want, whereas the UPS store will at least have corporate policies.

I don't have any experience with the other methods but just PO Boxes, and this is why I see them as good:

  1. 24 hour access
  2. If packages don't fit in your box, they go into a overflow locker. If they don't fit in there, they just hold your package behind the counter. Kinda sketchy but it's just a size thing. Also, if they have your package, you have to go during business hours.
  3. MyUSPS access - if you can even get it to work
  4. My PO Box gets supplied between 10:30 and 11:00 am - so I can grab packs pretty early in the day if necessary.

Well since we are on the topic. Does anyone have any experience using a fake ID at an official post office? Ive never had problems with fakes at mom and pop shops. I would love to have access to the larger boxes at USPS locations
