Tracking number question?

I'm in the EU and when my package arrived from Germany the postal guy left a 'sorry we missed you' docket with a tracking number. The vendor also gave me the tracking number but the number I got off the vendor and the number on the docket are not identical. There is one digit different, should I be suspicious?

People make mistakes. It sounds like a mistake.

It's one digit different... tell me... is it a 7 instead of a 1? Perhaps a 3 instead of an 8. You see what i'm sayin?

The two tracking numbers work no problem when entered in on the respective postal websites. The one for Germany reads XX XX XXX 8XX XX and that works for tracking there and the number for my country reads XX XX XXX 7XX XX and that works no problem for tracking here. I am just curious as to why it's not the EXACT same tracking for both countries?

Some one fucked up obviously. I wouldn't worry about it. I had same situation with receiving a international package. You need to sign for it.

I specifically asked the vendor to post without signature required and I would take the hit if it didn't arrive. It's posted to a vacant drop with a fake name and now I'm in a dilemma if I should go and pick up.
