[CommunityDiscussion]Vendor vs USPS. I'm not buying it.

(This post pertains to US to US deliveries) I've seen so many posts on here where users are complaining about packages not arriving or arriving week(s) later than they should. I've also seen statements and articles pointing the finger at USPS for taking so long.

I live in the midwest. I get letters, packages, etc from family both on the East coast and West coast. Never EVER has any package from them (envelops, bubble mailers, boxes, etc) taken more than 4 days. They are always sent as 'basic' mail (no special shipping).

Now, I understand that random things happen to packages but this 'randomness' seems especially zeroed in on DNM purchases. This is too much of a coincidence.

If you ask me, it sounds like one of three things is happening: 1- Scammed. It happens. Nothing you can do. Vendor issue. 2- Seized. Mostly USPS (bad stealth vendor) 3- Vendor hasn't shipped when they've claimed to. Now this is where I think most of the problem lies. Could it be that a vendor is advertising an item that they PLAN to get but don't actually have yet? You buy, they possibly claim to ship but don't do so until they get it (maybe days or weeks later) Did they 'forget' to ship? Do they just ship whenever it is convenient for them? What really makes me worried on the #3 possibility is that a vendor could make a sale, not send the item out, claim it was 'lost' or seized and then is still able to make up to 75% of your original purchase should they offer any refund at all.

One order in particular was placed and it did not come until two weeks later. No reason on earth that a package should take that long unless it was sent out a days after the vendor claimed to have shipped it.

I'm sorry but if a vendor claims to have sent out a package on day one there is no reason other than extenuating circumstances (which, in my experience are very rare) that said package shouldn't arrive by day 5 THE LATEST.

Am I alone here? Did/am I missing something? I think this 'blame USPS' propaganda is a load of crap. Send it out when you say you do...or at least be somewhat honest and say 'I'll be getting this stuff in a few days' or 'I cant get to a mailbox right now'.

I understand this is part of the game and we should be lucky to be getting anything at all. But all I'm asking for is a little transparency. If I have to wait a week or two, just tell me so I'm not checking my mailbox every day like a madman or worry that its been seized and I'm going to get a CD any day now.

Thoughts?

I completely agree. When my vendor claims it was a "usps delay" because it came in 8 days, I know it's fucking bullshit. I can go back and fucking track it with the packages tracking number and see it wasn't actually sent out till 3 days after being marked shipped.

I even msg people beforehand asking if it will actually be going out tomorrow and get a yes, to see it goes out two days later.

Not much you can do. I just wish they would be more honest.

I don't care if it takes an extra 3 days. I don't care if it takes an extra week. Just fucking tell me that beforehand.

It should be a rule on the markets, that the packages must be shipped 24-48 hrs after funds are released to escrow. Some vendors are just lazy. It's not really an Opsec reason for delaying shipments, if the vendor isn't new.

I'd really like to see more buyers post purchase info. Mainly purchase date and arrival date. Vendor names would be helpful too. I think knowing who is the better, more accurate shipper is more important than knowing who is scamming everyone.

True, except for christmas

If you live in a very rural area, Priority can take a week to get to you. Combine this with weather delays, and a Priority package can take 10 days. For the vast majority of cases, however, your post is true.

I have also had a couple experiences with Priority mail getting stuck in sorting centers for 2 or 3 days for no reason (could be that some packages fall off the cart or something). This is very very rare however.

I always suggest that customers in rural areas go with Express shipping, it usually takes 2 days and is far better than Priority for them. Then again, if you live in a rural area you already know this and probably use Express even for clear-net items

You are so dead-on correct. The USPS does not fuck up as often as buyers on here would have you believe.

Check the label on the shipment people. Most don't 'ship' right when the vendor marks it shipped. Simple way to check here...

This is a huge problem for me as I use a private mailbox and have to call up there and ask if I have anything and it's annoying having to call them over and over again cause I don't know when it'll get there.

I've personally tracked legitimate packages that have gotten lost at a sorting facility for over a week. I've also been fed bullshit then checked tracking and the vendor didn't ship when they said. Only way to know is to check the tracking number on the pack when you get it in.

My two cents as an honest vendor: I'm pretty sure it's real.

I had a few customers ask me where their orders are over the past few days and I know for a fact I sent them when I said I did because I have never marked a delivery as shipped until I had actually shipped it. My stealth is also top-notch so that's out of the question. The only explanation that makes sense to me is a USPS problem.

I do agree with the point you make saying vendors should mark shipped when they actually ship. There are very few vendors that actually do this. That being said I really do not think 3-4 days max should expected for domestic packs. Some people live in areas where the weather is a factor, some live in more rural areas so mail generally takes a bit longer. Honestly there are many factors to consider before making a statement like that. Just my 2 cents.

Honestly I can't fucking understand why yall have such expectations on shipping 3-4 days fucking international some of these fuckheads expect I personally expect 2 weeks. And from us to us give it a week man honestly everybody needs to just chill it ain't fucking magic try driving across the country yourself.
