I'm not sure what happened! My order from Grandpa showed up in my PO Box and had clearly been opened. It had a piece of paper inside with the note "YO! HMU. I think I have something of yours" and a phone number. This phone number traces to a city near where I live, which also has a sorting facility that it passed through.
I'm freaking the fuck out because my stuff was taken out. What do I do? Please help.
(-#####) UPDATE! (-#####)
Okay, so for anyone curious what happened. It turns out that a post office slip up landed my package in the wrong P.O. Box and into someone else's hands.
I realized this after thinking things through and examining facts. Two things stuck out to me:
The PO Box number on the package had been twice scribbled out. Once, a line drawn through the number. It was then rewrote similarly, but with someone else's similar box number. This second number was ALSO scribbled out. Both numbers were scribbled on.
According to tracking, the package landed in my box 3 days after Grandpa shipped it. +1 Joe, that was fast! For the rest of the days, I kept checking my box and nothing was actually there. Then suddenly today it shows up.
The box was cut with a knife. A clean cut. It wasn't ripped, damaged, or torn, or even opened quickly at all. The tape had a nice clean cut.
So I started thinking about this and realized that it looks more like the someone was correcting my PO box number to someone else's, only to change their mind? This to me felt more like the postmaster was trying to get the package where it needed to go. The fact that my package dissapeared for 5 days after the tracking indicated it landed properly tells me someone who is NOT a USPS worker was in possession in my package. My theory then became that somehow my package was placed in the wrong box, then my stuff was removed by someone and the package returned with a note in it.
That was it.. This just felt like neither police nor a post office employee's doing.
So the number? I kept calling it, but masking my caller ID. The phone was off for hours, until just a few minutes ago. SOMEONE FUCKING ANSWERED.
My heart is pounding and I ask, "Who is this?". They respond, "Who is THIS?" then laugh. I proceeded to ask them why I received a highly suspicious package with a note in it in my PO Box. He broke down immediately and confessed that he discovered "some green stuff".. He confessed that he was hoping by returning the package we could somehow work something out. He said he had "never seen anything like that around here" and hoped he could find a way to get more.
He sounded like a young guy with a country accent. Didn't sound terribly intelligent at all if i'm honest. I really think this foolish man thought he would somehow connect with a dealer (i'm not a dealer) getting shipments from the west coast. Living the dream right? ;)
Anyway.. I made a couple joking hints about what we both knew we were talking about, being purposely vague and non-specific. We had a little awkward laugh about it and then I told him:
"Well man. Whatever you found in that box is now rightfully yours. For obvious reasons this is extremely strange that i'd receive such a suspicious box with a note in it, and for that reason we will never meet or speak again. I hope you enjoy whatever was in that box, and greetings from California" (Hinting that it came from there.. Honestly I haven't any idea where Gramps is from).
So it certainly seems like some guy just had a big pile of dank nugs drop in his lap. That or the guy I was speaking to was a cop playing an act, secretly hoping I'd actually be stupid enough to continue our passing connection. Anyway, thanks for the advice everyone. Address burned.. House is clean.. :)
Regarding grandpajoe: he is still on point! He definitely shipped my stuff, shipped it fast.. Shame it ended up placed in someone else's box next to mine. And according to the mystery man on the phone who ended up with my stuff, it was "some damn good green, man". Can this be a vendor review? Haha!
Consider the package dead in the water. clean house and chill. My assumption is a postal worker has noticed the pack and took your stuff. probably wants more. could also be LE somehow trying to lure you into admitting shit so they can arrest you somehow. either way I'd consider the address burned.
