AlphaBay selectively fucking people over ?

I made a big purchase 2 days ago and now I can't log in to my AlphaBay account. And I think I'm not the only one who is facing this problem, there are several posts on the forum about this but nobody is giving a fuck.

This guy also had the same problem. I know I didn't get phished because I only use the market link from deepdotweb or my personal bookmark collection. People say AlphaBay admins are selectively stealing peoples coins and telling them they got phished.

That's like saying you only ever opt to skip the condom when fucking hookers. Do you use two-factor authentication?

Yeah. They definetely do fuck people over. I got locked out of my account and gave my mneomic to a staff member "trappy" to get my pgp key changed and then my account with 15k in escrow disappeared. my forum posts, account, and listings got deleted about this issue on there site.

I think so. This happened to me as well. I'm very careful to avoid being phished: I browse to DNMs by copying pasting the onion link from a text file I store in a truecrypt/veracrypt volume.

After a large order, went to log in and couldn't. My password had been changed. I managed to get back in to my account with the mnemonic and my wallet had been drained. I only discovered a couple of weeks later that the person who broke in to my account had sent a message to a vendor attempting to cancel an outstanding order (presumably to bring more BC back to my wallet).

Now here's the part where I fucked up (and I'm sure the comments below will carefully explain how much of a dumbass I am): I hadn't enabled 2FA prior to all this. I enabled it the second I was able to get back in to my account.

I suspect 'the admins', or at least a few rogue ones, are selectively scamming non-2FA accounts because it gives them plausible deniability: they can credibly say 'oh, you just got phished'. So the best defence against this is to enable 2FA, but it's only a temporary defence at best. Once they've made as much money as they can off the 'plausible' scams they'll probably exit scam.

Don't keep BTC in your market wallet.

I know it isn't Tuesday but... <tinfoil>

Yes I do believe Alphabay has been selectively scamming people for a while now. They only do it to people they know don't have 2-FA enabled, so that when it happens and the victim complains, they can just say "you got hacked/phished brah sorry use 2FA next time". I also think this is one of the reasons they have so many alternate links, makes the phishing excuse a little better ("are you really 100% sure the link you used is one of the officially-sanctioned links?")

They fucked me over by banning me. No chance to make a case or anything. All my funds gone, orders fucked and a shit load of important info on there all fucking gone.

I'm fucked now, that was literally everything DNM related on my account.

Happy new year I guess.
