With all of this shit surrounding the current markets, why haven't we just migrated to OB2.0?

Step 1. Follow this and use PGP for communications.

Step 2. ???

Step 3. Profit

Voila, now we're on a decentralized marketplace and aren't left fearing the next beard competition, honeypot,"server update" shitty market.

Edit: Since tails being left out was mentioned figured I'd address that. People take tails to be the holy grail of security even though the only thing it really has going for it is the amnesiac angle. I suggest people research the alternatives, specifically Qubes (OS based on the idea that every window you open is its own virtual machine, essentially) + Whonix running within that + TOR inside of that. This entire system can be loaded (granted, it is a bit more hands-on) onto a live usb in the same fashion tails can.

Show me where the vendors are and I'll pop in. You're talking to the wrong people.

How about a guide for Tails OS users?

Qubes is amazing. I can't believe it never really caught on.

If you're running Whonix you shouldn't need tor inside of that, as each machine may only access the internet through tor anyways. It might make you feel better, but it's very unlikely it would have any real world effect aside from slowing down your computer.

Right, but Tails is a somewhat mature OS, as opposed to OB2 just now releasing 2.0's major features. Those who are more risk averse than others have no problem downloading whatever is needed to remain safe, but the 99% standing on the other end couldn't care less. Point being that many simply do not care to use OB2, and the other side that may be interested in it might already be too far invested in Tails and how it operates. Thus my reasoning for bringing OB2 compatibility TO tails might be the better approach.

Isn't it in beta though?

thanks for the words of wisdom.............COP'PER! forget about migrating; just call your local police department, and ask them if they do DD. They have the best drugs in evidence. THE BEST PART IS..... NO PGP REQUIRED!

[1 Points] gangstahippy:

first and foremost, it dont' work with tails. secondly, it dont' work with qubes and whonix. Most importantly exploits can be built for ob2 which takes advantage of javascript exploit causing your system to leak the ip address/// especially on a windows machine, and since windows is the only proven way to set up ob2, using it as a darknet tool is stupid and likely dangerous.

[1 Points] Dontworrybeready:

It's beta, not a good idea to entirely trust it with a vendors identity.

I wouldn't run it on my own network.

The best solution would be running it on a VPS and connecting to it through Tails.

This was possible on <OB 2.0 but I have no clue how to do it since they separated the client and the server.

First, Open Bazaar isn't built to be a marketplace for illegal wares. As such, those attempting to use it as such will see opposition from not only law enforcement, but also other members, developers, etc. Not a good idea.

Second, Open Bazaar is a fucking BETA. Not sure I would want to trust my freedom by being a BETA TESTER.

Third, and let's be honest here, how many users of darkmarkets actually practice good security? FOr that matter, how many actually know how to use TOR properly? Not very many. Failure to use good security when on Open Bazaar will certainly land one in prison.

All those reasons? I think it best to wait until the next market arrives and use the current markets as stopgaps until that happens.

Oh wow, I just briefly scrolled through the guide in step #1

2 comnments: overkill and over complicated.

This thing could be easily provided as a Tails-like boot-and-start using appliance...
