All drug laws are a violation of human rights. If I consent to the risks and choose to do the drug(s) then that is no ones business but my own. Now some argue
"what about your family?"
what about them? they are a seperate entity from myself, it is up to me to decide if i care about their feelings or not.
"what about people who do drugs and operate heavy machinery?"
what is your point? I can still get drunk and get behind the wheel or operate a crane. It is illegal to do so and I will face legal consequences if I do. why can't the same be applied to all drugs?
"What about the children?"
yes, what about them? I don't see kids walking into stores and buying alcohol, unless they obtain a fake ID or pay someone to do it for them. It's much harder for kids to obtain these things than illegal drugs. Do you think a drug dealer cares about age? Mine didn't, I just couldn't stick around and hang out. Is it so hard to talk to your kids about drugs, sex, and sexual orientation that the only thing you'd like to say to them is "drugs are illegal, don't have sex, and being gay is a sin. now stop asking questions."?
"What of society?"
again, what about them? just because a drug is legal doesn't mean everyone is just suddenly going to do it, then suddenly society collapses. If heroin became legal tomorrow I wouldn't go out and buy it and neither would you. Heroin users will.

So I think it's about time our species grew up and recognized individual responsibility and stop expecting government to censor & prohibit things you don't like. It is your responsibility to change the channel, change the station, and avoid things you don't like and stop telling other adults what they better not do to themselves or other consenting adults. Most TV's come with a V-chip, use the damn thing and block channels you don't want kids to see instead of censoring shit that I do want to see, that i do want to do, and who i want to be.

ALL drug laws necessarily violate the most basic human rights.

As it stands, we live in very interesting times. For example I'll come across someone who talks shit about how drugs should remain illegal and how he would refuse to serve a gay customer. Yet this same guy made a comment to the effect that he is firmly pro-choice on abortion. Then he openly admitted that he paid a quack to cut both his son's genitals.

All I could see in this was a technicolor vomit of epic proportions.

So this guy calls himself pro-choice? Really. He doesn't think addicts have human rights and should be locked up. He obviously doesn't think gays should have rights either because he would refuse to serve any. Nor does he believe in the basic human right to genital integrity.

What do I have to say to this imbecile? He is not pro-choice he is pro-abortion ... so I figured I'd clarify it for the sake of this lunatic.

Here in Australia if someone proudly exclaims that they paid a quack to butcher their son(s) genitals, I ask them if they believe in the right to choose. If they imply that they are, I like to remind them that, no, they don't actually believe in the right to choose because they just took that right away from their sons by paying someone to mutilate their genitals. I remind them that they are not pro-choice, they are pro-abortion and that no, they do not believe in human rights because if they did they wouldn't have done that to their sons...certainly NOT IN FUCKING 2015...

Well, rights as enshrined in laws are one thing, but rights as in our strong sense of what we consider we should be able to do ourselves (with due respect to others) is another. If we're talking about the latter, then yes, it is a violation of our right to reach the maximum of our potential. You don't learn anything just by taking a drug, but for those who explore and observe and reflect the sheer human growth achievable on psychedelics is incredible. If anyone is prevented from achieving that, that's inhuman.

As much as we like to think, the government isn't naive or stupid when it comes to drugs. They know alot of psychedelics are relatively harmless but that also it allows people t think free and are therapeutic. I think at a minimum criminalizing marijuana and mushrooms are violating human rights but they can have many therapeutic and medicinal uses. But I think that has more to do with pressure from the pharmaceutical industries to keep them illegal. Think about how many people are prescribed anti depressants. Imagine if all of them were allowed to grow their own mushrooms or to take mdma in a controlled setting every so often to battle depression vs taking daily medication. They'd lose so much money. The same thing goes for MJ pain relief and prescription opiates
