OpenBazaar now has Tor support. Testing needed for this new decentralized alternative, help be part of the future of DarknetMarkets

https://www.reddit.com/r/OpenBazaar/comments/2ko33b/help_needed_please_test_new_tor_support/

Preliminary Tor support has been built into an OpenBazaar fork and your help is requested in testing it if you are able to.

The Tor-mode enabled branch can be pulled here:

git clone https://github.com/El--Presidente/OpenBazaar.git -b develop

The full PR can be found here: https://github.com/OpenBazaar/OpenBazaar/pull/860

You will need to set up a hidden service in your Tor configuration. This should have a HiddenServicePort set to 12345 and should redirect to 127.0.0.1:12345.

To start use:

./openbazaar -t -i yourhiddenservice.onion -s fksu5carj3okqfan.onion start

That should connect you via Tor to an Onion-land seed, there are a few nodes connected for testing. Please post any issues, problems or other feedback on github or maybe here.

The previous Tor demo using Onioncat has been replaced with code from the above fork but is available on the same URL if you want to just play in the browser:

http://fksu5carj3okqfan.onion

Edit: Basic Instructions for Linux and OSX users, see r/openbazaar for more details

Make sure you have installed git first, then run the git command as posted above. Then run these commands:

cd OpenBazaar

./configure.sh

After running the configure.sh script you should have an OpenBazaar installation ready to go, to start run:

./openbazaar -t -i yourhiddenservice.onion -s fksu5carj3okqfan.onion start

Your browser should automatically open to the correct web page. If it doesn't, you should be able to view the address in terminal, copy and paste into a browser.

Edit2: Please note that the demo onionsite is just to show you how it looks, you never actually visit other stores that way when you install Openbazaar. Javascript is used only to display the application interface and cannot be modified in any way by a remote attacker. Openbazaar is not a website, it is an application whose frontend is being displayed inside a browser.

This is how you capitalize on a bad situation.

[9 Points] TRY_LSD:

From the looks of things, the site uses JavaScript (AngularJS from the looks), that's a major turn-away.

What's good? Has this site been pentested?

Information on this should be stickied.

[4 Points] fuckitillsayitbro:

Do you have MultiSig implemented yet? I'm working on something to make MultiSig less of a fucking hassle and thought about going to Agora with it, but I think OB may be where I am NEEDED.

[2 Points] vwermisso:

I'd poke around on it if there was a js free option.

Let us know when there is, if such a development occurs.

[2 Points] throwaway:

Great timing, guys, this is the first time I've looked at openbazaar.

Could you please point me at an explanation of your reputation system?

[2 Points] FedoraWearingAlien:

Will audit when I'm not lazy as fuck

How do you "set up a hidden service in your Tor configuration"?

[1 Points] digitalmarauder:

Hi guys, what do you think wouldn't it be better if OpenBazaar would offer a choice between Tor and I2P? I think it could obliterate law enforcement.

any setup guides for openbazaar on tails?
