Silk Road's Ulbricht Accused of Six Murder for Hire Plots

While the murder-for-hire plots aren't part of the government's indictment of Ulbricht, federal prosecutors in New York are seeking to use them as evidence against him at his trial set to begin Jan. 5. The alleged schemes support the government's argument that Ulbricht conspired to protect the criminal enterprise, prosecutors said yesterday in a court filing.

How is this even possible in Both ways - not accusing and still using it against him OR using this against him without being forced to accuse him?

EDIT: All the background if anyone wish to refresh his memory:

That sounds like such bullshit. If he really attempted to murder people, they would charge him with it -the fact that they cant makes it obvious that theyre full of shit.

Murder-for-hire probably carries a lighter sentence than the other shit they have on him

Ulbricht conspired to protect the criminal enterprise

That's the NY charge... i.e. Ross sanctioned killing someone to protect his criminal organization.

His own writings show he was ok with the hits even if LE can't conclusively prove he was directly responsible for ordering them.

They don't need murder charges when they can ream Ross six ways to Sunday with the conspiracy charge.

But they need to do something think what would happen to reddit if it was ok to murder sock puppets like that.

Interesting - is there more info breaking down the six seperate claims? Theres the well known two in baltimore and canada but is there more known right now? What surprises me is the vague mention of this type of thing in media and by govt without complete backup facts. Seems to be a tactic used to sway perception that really should not be tolerated. If claims are made like this that seriously sway public opinion and perception, they should be accompanied by supporting full facts. Its all so vague the way its mentioned which is the part i take issue with. But what a fascinating story..

While the murder-for-hire plots aren’t part of the government’s indictment of Ulbrich

The main case against him doesn't include those charges. However, the NY thugs, WANT to use it against him..
