FBI got what they wanted

When SR 1.0 was still around everything was fine. Very few people used the other markets at that time, so every vendor was on Silkroad. You didn't have to worry about imposters, just about about being scammed if you were so stupid as to FE.

Now after several busts and shutdowns (be it from LE or the owners themselves), I feel like the online drug business has mostly come to a standstill. There's no main market around, everyone is wondering where to migrate to in order to get drugs, and the scene has naturally become very distrustful of everything new.

With TorMarket and SheepMarketplace gone, there was only SR2.0, BMR and TheMarketplace left. Now that BMR is shutting down and basically no one using TheMarketplace (probably due to i2p), SR2.0 is the only market left. As soon as they get busted (and according to some this has already happened or is likely to happen in the near future), FBI will have achieved what they wanted.

I have to disagree. As long as you can safely buy drugs with the click of a button while sitting naked in your recliner, these markets will be around.

The idea is out there, it has been tested and proven to work. That can't be taken back. Someone will always be around to deal honestly. Its just another nail in the coffin of prohibition.

Sure it seems bad now, but I'm sure people in the 20's felt the same way when their favorite Speakeasy's were shut down. But more popped up and more people got involved, security got better and eventually prohibition of alcohol was repealed.

There is no way they were hoping for 20 markets and an influx of new buyers. Yeah you guys have been doing this for 2 years are taking a step back but plenty of people who just realized they don't need to search high and low for some legit MDMA or whatever they like are taking the plunge every day.

Skip the market and do business with your trusted vendors directly

Have you checked the side bar? there are plenty of markets.

Just like it is impossible to download music, movies, games, ebooks, and porn after napster was shut down.

I don't understand why more people aren't using The Marketplace. Sounds like the best one available, and there was a post the other day that they essentially have a mirror available on TOR that you can check out if your not used to i2p.

Like, It can't take more than a lazy afternoon to configure that shit. It seems safer and the staff seem competent.

The FBI won't 'get what they want' until all drug manufacturing/distribution/usage comes to a halt. We all know that's never going to happen, so long as it is illegal. As /u/kush9898 pointed out, direct vendor-to-buyer systems will be the next big thing. However...

  1. We need an escrow system, or at least some sort of system to ensure refunds, etc. are possible.
  2. It would need to be simple for vendors to create their own 'dedicated website' (for lack of a better term) - they are always busy with logistics, customer satisfaction, etc. so they don't have time.
  3. Must be decentralized, if it weren't, you might as well make another market (that WILL be taken down eventually).
  4. Also would have to have admins, to ensure the vendors can't manipulate the escrow system.

But #3 and 4 conflict with each other - the existence of admins would entitle the whole thing being centralized.

Hopefully someone with the right amount of ambition/skills will see this and put an end to this madness. Despite all that's going on right now, I have optimism for the future. When there's a will, there's a way.

I dont think that the online drug scene is being killed, i think the big online websites that offer 9000+ drugs are the things that are being killed. I feel hopefully once this cools down, that instead of making another huge online drug website we should stick to a more vendor to buyer type of thing.

SR1 created a market for drugs online. While there may not be any stable marketplace currently, the market has far from disappeared... we're all still here. As long as there's demand, the supply will arise. The question is when

BMR is coming back stronger than ever. backopy is currently writing v5.

It just won't ever happen. There is too much money to be made. Greed always trumps common sense. Vendors have moved, not all have returned, but most have. Also, new ones have popped up. The demand is endless, and so brings the supply.

If you buy drugs on the street from a dealer that works a certain corner and he gets busted, what happens? That part of the neighborhood can't buy drugs anymore? Nope, the next morning there will be somebody selling in that same area. No matter how many street busts there have been, and dealers arrested, there will always be new dealers to work that area and make that money. It has always been like this, and always will be. Darknet markets follow this as well, as we have already seen.

As for scammers, unfortunately, they will always exist, too. They were on SR1 early on, and throughout the time it lasted. They will be on every marketplace, ever. The best thing we can do is weed them out as a community. These markets have nothing to do with scammers generally. They can help to try and prevent the majority of them, but it will always be an issue. They can't control who pays money for a vendor account. The market is simply a channel.

This is just alarmist nonsense. You are implying that prohibition works and it patently doesn't and probably never will. The fact is people will always want to drugs and the now the technology exists to carry out the transactions online. As one market falls, another takes its place. Look at digital piracy of music and films, the vested interests have basically thrown in the towel and have quit prosecuting the end users. All they can do is block the download sites which merely stops the clueless from accessing the material.

Yea, not happening.. SR2 will out live the le investigation and switch things up before anything can be done to damage them. This is NOT a SR1 scenario..

[2 Points] FiiVe_SeVeN:

It has only been a couple of months. The market is yet to stabilize, and right now we are simply witnessing natural selection, as only the best will rise.

[2 Points] simcity4242:

Well said. The Feds have succeeded in making simple commerce into a clusterfuck of violence, theft and seedy schemes and rip-off merchants.

Land of the Brave, Home of the Free (unless you get caught using drugs by the freedom so sacred to the USA. USA! USA!)

BMR is supposed to come back sometime... :) Backopy is pretty awesome

Come check us out on GreyRoad, we still only have a couple of vendors and few products but we're out there, I think we're pretty similar to SR1 in its early days.
