US VISIT/ border fingerprint of 1 finger - database can be used by LE?

they used to take fingerprint of i believe of thumb and index finger before 9/11 when travelling to US (this is part of US-VISIT program). If you shipped a few small shipments to the US (below 10g) of which maybe a few got intercepted what is the chance that these intercepted packages got fingerprint checked and do they run fingerprints directly through the US-VISIT database or is/was there some protection of these databases (ie. use of databases for national security or if you travel into the US can these fingerprints be accessed and used by all LE)

If gloves are worn then there will be no prints on the packages to run through any databases.

Or am I missing the point here?

According to something I heard on NPR the other day, The US dept. of homeland security has access to just about every criminal law database on the planet. If your known fingerprints come up in an investigation somewhere, they'll know about it and will probably want to ask you a few questions the next time you try to enter the country.
