State of BTC fees?

I've been monitoring this sub and other forums recently and have been following the crazy BTC fees. Currently been waiting for them to die down. Does anyone know if the fees are at a reasonable rate now? Or is it best to wait a lil longer? Thanks in advance

i had a $200 cost $12.50. Insane. Not to long ago that would have costed about 15 cents.

edit: But I had a transaction of $120 clear in like an hour or so with a ~$4.75 fee

Okay the reason these posts are so annoying is because the logic just does not make sense. Stay with me here:

You guys are worried about paying an extra $10 on a transaction fee to get your coin confirmed reasonably. Basically a $10 penalty from the norm, right?

What you're missing is the fact that BTC's price is near $7,000 and has fluctuated hugely recently, meaning that if you have any reasonable amount of coin, BTC's price changes so much that you could lose or gain $20 on the value of your BTC by the time you even get your order placed.

For example, if you had say .025 BTC at $7,000 you have $175 for your order. You're worried about paying an extra $10 transaction fee, but in the next two hours while your BTC moves and your order gets placed, the value of that .025 could go from $175 to $155 or even as high as $200.

My point is that if you have a reasonable amount of BTC, the value of your coin can vary by the tens of dollars within hours or even minutes... so the extra fee cost is pretty much irrelevant.

That is, unless you're trying to make like a $50 order... in which case I really don't feel like that warrants contentless posts asking internet strangers if paying an extra 10% premium on your eighth is worth it.

Edit: Am I just an asshole or does anyone else kinda get me

I was moving 1.5 BTC, and electrum suggested an "economy" fee of $39.60. It was just going to another of my own wallets, so I said "fuck it" and set it to $5.

I just transferred from my LBC wallet, around 250$, cost 27$ transaction fee. 5 MINS. Transferred 1k earlier for 27$ also, but didn't even show as cleared in my electrum wallet for almost 24 hours.. Although it cleared on the blockchain.info
