Is my mail being profiled?

I have been ordering off of the DNM for several months nowand haven't had any issues. It has been about a month since my last order. I recently recieved a holiday card from a relative in the mail that was opened "accidentally". It was clearly opened and came in a special envelope from the USPS the read:

WE CARE

Dear valued postal customer:

I want to extend my sincere apology as your postmaster for the enclosed document that ineviably damaged in handling by your postal service.

We are how important your mail is to you and with that in mind we are forwarding it to you in an expeditious fashion.

The United States postal service handles over 202 billion pieces of mail each year. While each employee makes a concerted effort to process, without damage, each piece of mail, an occasional mishap does happen.

We are constantly working to improve our processing methods so that these incidents will be eliminated. You can help us greatly in our efforts if you continue to properly prepare and address each letter or parcel into the mainstream.

We appreciate your cooperation and understanding and sincerly regret any inconvience that you have experienced.

YOUR POSTMASTER

My question is, is this what happens when your mail is being profiled or is this genuinely a mishap on behalf of the USPS?

Probably just a legit mishap. If your mail was being profiled I doubt they would do something like that.

That is odd. Why they would totally replace the envelope, even if it got ripped and was fubar, is strange. Was the card damaged at all? You'd think that if it required a new envelope, that the card would have been damaged as well, but who knows. May just be a mishap, but it's hard to say. I'd clean house just in case, and maybe lay low.

genuine mishap

Legit mishap - I've had it happen more than once, the envelope gets snagged going through the sorter, they put it in a new envelope because the previous one can't be expected to hold together. This happens at the regional level mail-sorting facilities where they use a high-speed auto-sorter, the slighest bump or snag will cause anything from tears on the edge (bottom or top) of the envelope to completely ripping/cutting it open.

legit mishap. I once mailed a relative a jar of tomato sauce, it broke, the post office put it in a baggie with a note very similar to the one that you got.

My first order was a box with a half ounce in it that looked like someone just stomped the living shit out of it. Lol sketched me out too. But no I think you are fine mate!

Either get a new address to ship to or try to order a VERY small amount of something to test the waters. I think in your situation, I would maybe order a gram or even a half a gram of MJ from the same country/area the letter came from and see how it goes (I think most likely in this case if found and in such a small quantity, they would just send you a letter explaining that something illicit was found being mailed to you. Maybe this is a stupid thing to do, but that's my only two ideas for this situation. Maybe someone else will come by with some better info than me.

Be safe and Happy Holidays!
