Mempool is low, fees down and transaction times faster?

Would like to aquire some BTC so I can convert to XMR. Seems like this would be a good time to buy BTC if I can convert it to XMR before the value of BTC continues to crash.

I know fees can be manualy dertermined, and I am using a SegWit wallet. Has anyone made a BTC transaction in the last day or two? How did it go? Thanks!

Update: 1/24/17 [Tuesday]- Fee was under 3$ for a priority in the next few blocks. Transaction very fast, less than 20 minutes. It was like a smooth Bitcoin transaction a few months ago before these fees went ape shitt. This is definitely a great time to use BTC if you need to, while the mempool is almost empty.

Use the latest version of electrum (segwit compatible) for faster transaction times and far lower fees.

Fees are $1-$2 for next block from noon segwit, about 60ยข from segwit for an average transaction

Wouldnt trust bitcoin to have low fees. I think it better for all altcoins and the survivabilty of the crypto market that bitcoin domimance gets fucked off completely.

Fun website, look at: txhighway.com

This is most definitely a good thing but I hope vendors and markets continue to accept alternative currencies. It's been long overdue and this event seems to have kick started more adoption at large.

Not sure about BTC. I have been using BCH to buy XMR, to get past the BTC fees and the fees are much less
