How do they find cash in the mail?

Is there some kind of way they detect cash in the mail? Always was curious as to why it's risky to mail paper money. If you put 20,000 in $100s in Mylar and in a bubbler is it really still a bad idea?

Dogs. They find more cash in the mail than drugs. I think it's riskier than sending drugs because LE can't spend drugs.

Why do they search for cash? It's legal to send cash, so you why would they search?

Almost everything has an odor, for example, how dogs can find guns ? Not by smelling the metal, but by smelling the lubricant, because most of the manufacturers use the same brand of lubricant for this purpose.

Hell money smells a lot more than some drugs, you'll find cocaine on every dollar bill in circulation in America they say lol http://www.cnn.com/2009/HEALTH/08/14/cocaine.traces.money/

Its because postal workers aren't well-paid, so many of them are thieves.

In the UK we have "Express guaranteed" mail which requires a signature. It's insured up to £500 if it doesn't arrive.

It ALWAYS arrives, never gets opened. Postmen lose their job if it doesn't. For £6.50, I can post a gram of meth before 5PM and KNOW that the customer will safely receive it no later than 1PM the next day. For £20 they will have it before 9AM.

If the postman wants to look inside for drugs, its going to cost him £500 to open my envelope. I will mail half a gram ordinary first class, with stealth or "my wife opens my mail" stealth. But no more.

Why dont you just send bitcoin to someone then they can cash it out?

Depends how much you send, and how "normal" it looks. Remember how granny sent you a $10 bill inside your yearly birthday card? Did that get swiped every time? Didn't think so. On the other hand, if you're sending a huge stack, and not disguising it at all, then it's riskier. Send small amounts in each of many envelopes. Stamps are cheap.

There's a silver or some sort of metal within american money and so many of them together become glaringly obvious to any scanner.

It is a better idea to send prepaid Visa gift cards instead.

If you would like to learn more about why sending LARGE amounts of cash in the mail is a horrible idea, do some research on the 'Bulk Currency Detection System'. Plus the fact that mailmen have been known to steal it haha.
