An idea I had to make shipping a little more secure

I was thinking about my favorite topic and I came up with an idea. What if a vendor were to ship a separate envelope with a blank piece of paper to the recipient's address at the same time their drug pack was sent? The recipient would be aware that the vendor was going to do this and he would keep an eye out for it. If the letter arrives without the package, the recipient knows to be extremely careful and that the possibility of something going wrong with their pack is high. If the letter arrives with the pack, obviously everything is alright...but there is really no reason why the letter should come before the pack unless it is being scrutinized at some level. I don't see this being feasible for every order, but on larger orders I could see how this could bring me additional peace of mind knowing that I had some kind of "tell" in there to protect me from those pesky porkers.

So 2 packs arrive at the destination.

the recipient would be aware that the vendor was going to do this and he would keep an eye out for it.

I'm following

If the letter arrives without the package, the recipient knows to be extremely careful and that the possibility of something going wrong with their pack is high.

Or they'll think they were scammed. This also cost more time, management, money, and complications for the Vendor.

but on larger orders I could see how this could bring me additional peace of mind knowing that I had some kind of "tell" in there to protect me from those pesky porkers.

If it doesn't show up, call it loss and assume the worse, it's better than looking for tells to have a peace of mind.

Seems overly complex.

I see what you're getting at op, but packages (boxes) don't generally go the same way that envelopes do, making differing arrival times. Plus a pain in the ass for the vendor.

I was just gon start vending drug scented envelopes so people can test their drops for flagging. Leave envelopes in mason jars of bud with pieces of paper lining the inside of the jar. Order comes in, I shake it n send it.

It's something that's needed.

......except letters and packages are handled differently so them not coming together would be all too common making your idea a dead dog

Counter intelligence!

What OP suggests is that postal system throughput data could be gamed to determine seizure behaviour. If with every package, an identically sized and shaped package were also sent (with a cheap and benign content) a low difference in arrival times would indicate lack of tampering, where a high difference could hint at such.

This would likely have to be performed a great many times over similar routes with the buyer giving detailed feedback in order for meaningful data to be gathered.

The postal inspector has, in the past , requested to find all packages with a given description or address combination when one of the packages were intercepted. That's the only problem I see with this idea.

Interesting idea that could warn one of a forthcoming CD. It think it could be feasible for large shipments. The second package should have comparable size to the original to ensure they are transported the same way. But it means additional work for the vendor so it wouldn't be economical for smaller shipments.
