Maybe it is time...

...to consider the decentralized markets that are already offered or about to be offered by alternative cryptocurrencies. The one in particular that I think people should consider is Syscoin's Blockmarket. Unlike a lot of other decentralized markets offered by altcoins, this one has a few distinct advantages.

  1. You don't have to pay for things with Syscoin, you can still pay with Bitcoin!!! This is huge, because I know the main reason people don't consider these markets is because they don't want to consider using an altcoin -- but in this case you don't have to. All you need Syscoin for is to pay minor fees, but the actual pricetags and payments for products can still be in BTC.

  2. The shops you setup on the Blockmarket are persistent on the blockchain- much like a website; like what we have now. This is in contrast to some other decentralized marketplaces, like Shadowcoin's, for example, where the vendor has to keep a node up at all times in order to keep their shop/listing up.

  3. This coin actually has a legitimate dev team and community behind it (it is also part of the SuperNET), and will be one of the few crypto 2.0s that will be sticking around for a while and actually has a chance of going big (this point is more speculative, but essentially what I am saying is that this altcoin is not a blatant scam like many of the other ones offering "decentralized market places" just to pump their coin up and then run away without ever producing anything).

Just food for thought. I know we are all tired of DNMs running away with our cash, and I keep seeing people post about how they won't be using DNMs until a decentralized one is available. Well, Syscoin's is very close to being available, the beta is already out and you can start making test markets on the beta and it is only a matter of time before the official one is released.

How do you know that about shadowmarket if it hasn't still been released?

EDIT: and this doesn't have escrow.

Syscoin can and should take off as a reliable decentralized market.

Are there any very good forums for hooking up with vendors for direct deals? Just did my first direct deal and I am not ever looking back. But that guy only does opies.

Take it from me, its a looonngg haul until DNM's use Syscoin. Been there, done that, guy ;)

Need tutorials on how to list products for sale, tut's on how to buy, tut's on how to navigate a trust system (that isnt there yet), tut's on how to work with escrow (that isnt there yet)

Let alone the need for tutorials, notice those last two items are not even completed.

Waiting for syscoin to be practical feels like waiting for bitcoin to go to the moon....just aint happenin
