If you are really not using PGP to encrypt messages, now is a good fucking time to start.
WARNING: AlphaBay bug just allowed all message sent by users/vendors to be read by hackers/others/LE.
If you are really not using PGP to encrypt messages, now is a good fucking time to start.

Hey guess what, you should've been using PGP.
Use your brain, people aren't going to hold your hand.
[8 Points] LargeCockHiker:
isn't there a check box that says "encrypt message with sellers PGP" ? Why would anyone not click that?

This makes me wonder if any vendors have a policy -- explicitly stated or just in personal practice -- not to respond to any messages (direct or from a market) that are not PGP-encrypted.
Sure, it might cost you some sales, but they'd be from customers whose OPSEC is so sloppy / nonexistent that their interactions with you could bring heat down on your operation.

I don't see Alphabay being around for much longer. I would get all btc out of there immediately.
[3 Points] mtspirate:
Yet people still use it. Scummy market for sure.
[3 Points] DaDankWank:
Damn. I had a vendor send a tracking number unecnrypted to me recently. Does that mean the address is comprimised?
Vendors are so shitty at being conscious of buyers' security. I'd say 9/10 vendors don't encrypt tracking when sending it. GammaGoblin is the one noteable exception that comes to mind. That guy is so pro.
[2 Points] Hashish_UK:
Care to explain how?
[2 Points] DarkKnight_1111:
DAMNIT, I missed it. I really wish I could have read some of this shit
[2 Points] Tabascoinmybutt:
Was this just for messages or were you able to look at people's order and the message they sent with it.

Not and issue if you're encrypting all communications like you're supposed to.
Always use PGP

No sympathy for any users not using PGP.

Anyone got the down-low on how this happened? I totally missed the post, I saw his original announcement but when I looked again it was deleted. How was it done?
[1 Points] DextroShade:

I just used Alphabay for the first time on Monday.
ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?!?!?! my luck.
[1 Points] acw626:
Is anyone able to either sell the messages or verify messages from certain members for a price? At the very least can anyone confirm that something fishy is going on with AB staff?
[1 Points] acw626:
Also why is it that ThinkingForward, vaas, onionhood, mountainhigh9 and other staff members/vendors accounts were all created on March 18/2015 when scamwatch and staff weren't selected until August 11/2015. Can anyone with the messages confirm that staff is a bunch of kids running multiple vending accounts? Someone with the resources should really do some digging, something fishy is going on.

I just don't get it. When I get high, it makes me not want to start drama. Why can't we just not make drama? What am I doing here? I don't want none of this bs. smh do people fiend this fucking bad? That's terrible!
Sadly AB left it up for hours on end.
