Wick Direct deals, worth the risk?

With the current state of the markets and phishing/LE honeypotting is it worth it to just risk it with a direct deal over wickr, knowing full well they could run with the bitcoin and putting full trust in the vender. PS not being rude but is 'chemedstore' legit, in terms of will I get scammed with doing DD. THank you!

If you didn't personally get the wickr username from a trusted vendor on a market assume that they are going to scam you.

I don't think there's much difference in risk. Either trust a market or trust a vendor not to run with your coins. Try to deal with vendors you may already know and have purchased from before and refrain from doing deals for large amounts of money right off the bat :)

Try to find an escrow solution. You never know what could happen, it would be hard to proof item did not arrive.

If you haven't personally done business with a vendor before, I probably wouldn't jump in with an off-market DD right off the bat.

It is okay if you know the vendor and have good relations with them.

How secure is wickr? I heard they underwent a major haul to the point where the design has some bad opsec design unlike the previous version.

For instance: timers to auto logoff is removed (why would they do that?!). Ability to prevent screen snapshot is removed (major security feature needed), burn retention apparent has been removed and amongt other things. Bugs are very nasty since the recent update, including overhual on UI which everyone hates (see all of the reviews via playstore).

So..... I think something "happened" to them, maybe LE took over? Who knows.

And also.. why Wickr bother posting the message:

"Hey! Looks like you're adding Wickr on a new device. Way to protect your privacy (sounds sarcastic here..).

We like privacy too, so for privacy reasons your converstation history will not appear on this device, but all future conversations will." - The Wickr Team.

This sounds too LE-ish to me.. if you get my gist here..

Personally, unless your vendor has a massive reputation that they have to uphold, i would avoid a DD and use a market for escrow. Sure the market has a chance to rob, but at least you have a chance unlike just sending the vendor your coins directly. My two cents.

No, i even had legit vendors rip me off. small orders maybe. but u/supremeshrooms message me the other day saying how his team fucked up two months ago. He asked for $27 shipping and he'll fix the mistake and send out my order. Thats a real scammer/PENNYSTEALER. People putting up a great deal low price and keep hitting you up for dollars. " oh i just need $50 more and we'll get it done today bro" " only today bro one time deal" anyone who you don't know says bro is a D-bag.
