To the feds,

I am going to list some consequences of closing down the markets.

  1. The market provided a safe environment for the sale and purchase of drugs. Not safe from LE but safe from violence and safe from potentially bad batches that would have killed people.

  2. Reviews enabled people who would have bought drugs anyway to buy them where they knew the drug the were buying were safe.

  3. Do not take the moral high ground. You have not saved life's, you have caused more deaths. People are still going to buy drugs and now they will turn to the street where potential for violence and deadly drugs is much greater

  4. You have wasted valuable resources such as man power and funds by carrying out this operation. Those fund could have been put to better use.

  5. You have changes nothing, markets will pop up again with better security which will be ran more carefully. I am not saying this maliciously, just legalise and tax at least some of these narcotics.

In summary you have changes nothing, you saves no life's but caused more deaths, you did not make the world a safer place, you brought justice to no one. You did not save anyone from death, you did not save anyone from injury, you did not save anyone from theft, you did not save anyone from harm. What exactly do you think you did. You have no doubt seized millions of dollars which I'm sure you will find a use for.

PS: I do not condone the sale of firearms, stolen property or fake documents

EDIT: spelling and grammar

It's hard being human haha. Political lobbying, grants, and true justice are a jumble. And those who claim themselves exuberant in morality are usually the ones most caught up in sin.

[66 Points] Inthewirelain:

I loved Alpha but I do think it deserved what it got in some respects. I think we have to move away from associations of fraud where other people can get hurt. Plus fraudsters are fraudsters - look at Evo. How can we say were about harm reduction with such large fraud and bulk resale going on.

I feel sorry for the market admins but it is operating risks, they knew this. Alpha02 held over $8.8m in crypto currency. In cryoto. Not the cash or the two big homes or expensive cars. Not what AlphaBay held. What Alpha02 had. He was well compensated.

Also, RIP.

[50 Points] hugsandrugs:

There would definitely be individual fed agents who would use the online markets for their own individual purposes.. along with politicians, and people who are in jobs that actively participate in the war on drugs / taking the markets down. 100%.

The problem isn't the individuals (well it actually kind of is, because they are taking part), but the bigger more broader problem is the system itself which we all follow. The way to beat it is from the inside out. Once these people who have the power to change and alter the laws / regulations see sense, then things will begin to change. Once all these old men and women in positions of power, who cannot grasp the actual benefit the online markets bring die out, and are replaced by the newer generations, who are able to rationally decide what works effectively / best, then we will see a positive outcome.

This is at no way a taunt or stab at le, but more something that needs to be said so that people can think for themselves, and understand that maybe following the system all the time isn't the best way. Rules change over time, governments fall, revolutions happen.. Maybe we aren't doing the best job with the war on drugs and maybe we need to educate instead of punish those involved.

[36 Points] nthall-o:

At least they didn't bust the guys selling rhino horns, and blood diamonds.

[17 Points] None:

The mistake you have made is that they are shutting down these sites not because they want to save lives, but because they want to encroach on our privacy. They are abusing the tools they have spent tax dollars on in order to try and kill Tor.

[15 Points] Mac_DG:

this isnt gonna make headway, but imagine having a problem with opiates. specifically oxy. now? that person is gonna have to switch to H (possibly IV) and has to worry about potency/fent/carfent. not saying fent wasnt a problem on the market, but we atleast had an idea who was legit. As overdosed consumers generally dont post reviews.

[15 Points] kevin77v:

I suppose you presume the stated goals of LE is that actual goal. I don't believe that in the slightest. It's massively complicated and deep, but the real reasons for the drug war are not to protect drug addicts. It is to fuel the massive industry of the war on drugs. It's to be able to squash competors of their insiders and many of their own officials who deal. It is to fuel the prison industrial complex. It's to get their own fix of powers (addicts to power attacking people they claim are addicted to drugs). .and for god knows what else. Helping people is just a cover for their evil.

[12 Points] steamboi1337:

in summary if they have alphabay servers they have it last time because nextbay is gonna open soon Betabay right? or retardbay

[9 Points] LAC-inc:

Would be interesting if we could see %(per user base) of deaths attributed to street drugs compared to those ordered on markets, I wonder how they'd compare.

[7 Points] ImTheFlyingPig:

"I can't believe you would defend drug use! Have you not learned anything from D.A.R.E.? And Nancy Regan's most inspirational line: 'Just say no.' - Talking with my family on the 4th about the War on Drugs.

[7 Points] rubermnkey:

they don't care about any of that. it's all about the money. all the bitcoins they get, the property the seize and the fines they will levy. they only want the money.

[7 Points] massivehenry:

sorry but you are naive. i don't think you realize how corrupt agencies like the CIA or DEA are. they REALLY, REALLY don't give a shit about us. they want to shut the DNMs down because it cuts into their business. they secretly traffic drugs like heroin and cocaine on an extremely large scale. journalists like Gary Webb have documented this and subsequently committed "suicide."

[7 Points] CognitiveDissident7:

just legalise and tax at least some of these narcotics.

Fuck that. Decriminalize everything, tax nothing.

[6 Points] SaksiSaksi:

In summary you have changes nothing, you saves no life's

Well, I'd say change that to "changed", "saved" and "lives", but I read that whole thing in the sweetest French accent I could and it all sounded so beautiful. It's funny how the sound of things you already read can change from a few simple errors. I loved it and I agree with everything.

All the best.

[6 Points] SamFlynn1288:

I don't like drugs, don't take any of them. But if someone wants to get high, who the fuck am I to tell them no? They let people legally buy weapons that can kill someone, but you can't buy drugs that's only gonna "harm" yourself.

[5 Points] MandyThatGirl:

Dear feds :P

[5 Points] martingore2017:

Was done for headlines, self glorification, work status, politics, control and so on. Was not done to create a better environment, or to help drug abuse, drug related violence or drug quality..

Messed up people run the show.

[2 Points] None:

Then advocate for a change in the law and by electing officials who will fulfill the promises of full legalization. Only way. Bitching about it isn't going to anyone any good.

[4 Points] za4h:

To the DNM,

It was illegal (and easier than busting a bunch of traditional dealers all over the country because everyone used the same few sites).

P.S. I agree with the spirit of your post 100%, just playing devil's advocate.

[4 Points] Diqqsnot:

Fuck you LE you're the corrupt evil fucking idiots here

[2 Points] steamboi1337:

alphabay closing : FBI:GUYS YOU TOOK ALL THE DRUGS WE SEIZED FROM THE STREETS THAT WERE SAFE AND WE GAVE THEM TO CIA: TO SELL WE HAD TO DO THE MARKET JOB AND THEN WE ASKED THE NSA: TO HIDE THE PROOF AFTER THAT EUROPOL AND SOME OTHER DAY KILLED RANDOM GUY IN MALAYISIA AGAIN THE SITE WAS SHUT AND IT WAS ALL GREAT JUST WAIT TILL WE GET THE SUPPLY

[2 Points] xxxcat1:

I stand and salute you sir.

[2 Points] coloured_sunglasses:

Points 1, 2 and 3 are the same just worded differently.

[2 Points] MrYumTickles:

Completely agreed. Twats who think the Drug War is anything but a completely immoral disaster are idiots of the highest caliber.

[2 Points] DarkNetThrowaway25:

Near where I live, a 19 year old got shot and killed in a popeyes bathroom over a drug deal gone wrong. By shutting these sites down, this is what the feds are telling us to do. You think cutting off these sites from people you use is going to stop them from getting them any other way? It's nice to know that LE enjoy it when family joints get shot up, but when it comes to some random kid somewhere using a drug themselves and hurting themselves is totally 100% the fault of the guy that sold it to him not knowing his age. Should we take down porn sites too? Do you know how many kids and teenagers browse porn even when they ask that you have to be 18 and over? But we don't blame porn. But we blame the drugs? Why?

[2 Points] Orpus8:

In a sense, LE is performing artificial selection with the markets. They pick off the week, we evolve. The next generation of markets will be safer and stronger than ever.

[2 Points] seanote3:

The nabbed me last week. Bought from chins off ebsy. 1 customs/DHS, 1 DEA and 1 State police. No arrest. Just questioning but im blown

[1 Points] DarkNet_Shill:

its okay, i like making my fiat on the street

[1 Points] None:

Every time they shut down a market, their will come a much better and secure one.

[1 Points] MrOwnageQc:

Where do you realistically draw the line though ? The "line" itself is subjective.

Some people will say "Ban all the firearms !" Most people, me included, agree.

Some people will say "Ban all fraud, forgeries, and else !"

Some people will say "Ban the fent !"

You see ? Those three opinions will cause people to both agree and disagree.

What is the best "in-between" ? In my opinion, it is the ban of all firearms and deadly substances, fent, being one of them. But then again, it is my opinion and my opinion is subjective because I can easily find a handful of people who will completely disagree with my point of view.

So the real question is : Where is this like drawn ? It seems like it doesn't matter, because Feds go after drugs either way, deadly or not.

[1 Points] buckethead--:

HANSA was closed by Dutch police, they had help from the feds, but it is still doesn't make sense at all. They had one guy who was smart AND lucky, now let me get some drugs of of Dream.

[1 Points] rabbit_hole_diver:

by the end of the year a new market will open and then the game starts all over again.

[1 Points] thenarrrowpath:

You should address it to Congress not the Feds.

[1 Points] doomedrig:

PS: I do not condone the sale of firearms, stolen property or fake documents

Oh, but what about child porn you sick fucking pedo?!!! /s

[1 Points] JustinLHenry:

You think they dont know this? They dont care.

[1 Points] Username081:

For decades money spent on enforcement has increased. Currently the amount of deaths are also increasing. The one thing that has stayed constant is average addiction rates.

Seems to me they're only making things worse, for everyone.

[1 Points] BlackieBelt:

[1 Points] electricalnoise:

Dear feds,

Suck it.

Sincerely, A citizen.

[1 Points] OneDerangedLlama:

When LE takes down a huge market place and arrests those involved, they then have justification for better funding. That's all that they care about. They don't care about actually making the streets safer, which is evident because the streets would be much safer if every drug user bought their shit from reputable vendors on the dnm rather than some gun-toting thug on the streets.

[1 Points] stocktrader15:

Their goal is not to protect and serve and they had no intentions of trying to save live. What they care about is seizing money, trying to stop untaxed transactions, justifying their own existence in order to secure more money from the government, job security, and adding to the prison industrial complex..

[1 Points] wordsworths_bitch:

It's the only think keeping the US from turning into a cartel op.

[0 Points] chiraqs:

but you condone fentanyl>>???

[0 Points] None:

[0 Points] BTC_Collector60:

Didn't you listen to the news conference where Attorney General Sessions said that President Trump sent them a directive?

When you work for the FBI and you get a directive from the President, you don't consider doing it you do it, you say "Yes sir, We'll get right on that Mr. President".

They were only doing their jobs. If they didn't do what they were ordered to do they would get fired by the President like their former Director did. Stop giving them such a hard time and being so hard on people for doing their jobs. Want to be mad at someone or find someone to blame, then President Trump ordered them to do what they did, pick on him (and he is easy to pick on).

[-2 Points] ThrowitoutASAP:

I disagree in the part where you say: "People are still going to buy drugs and now they will turn to the street where potential for violence and deadly drugs is much greater" Some will still get drugs, but I think most won't.

The allure to DNM is that it allows people who don't have connects in real life to get drugs, like H/Meth/LSD/MDMA. Also at a high quality, sure some do have IRL connects to harder drugs but prefer DNM due to price/quality. The friends I made in college are all in the same boat, DNM allows us all to get drugs because we don't know those kinds of people in real life. A lot of people in my situation will unfortunately die, due to drugs obtained through DNM's. Many of them would never have died if DNM's never existed. I'm not against it though since I like drugs too lol.

[-5 Points] DueDiligenceOP:

  1. Nah, peeps can still cut their batches with fentanyl, kill clients, and have fake accounts keep their ratings high
  2. See #1
  3. See 1 and 2; middle American Christianic kids were buying bad opiates from DNMs using stolen cards, and if they were going to talk to the local black person for a fix I doubt they'd start now
  4. Nah, LE is merit-based; the people involved are seen as exceedingly competent and worthy of BJs, raises, and free drinks (at the same time!)
  5. This is far from an argument towards legalizing narcotics; most of this post was a tantrum that implied a DNM would rise from the ashes haha
