People please... About alphabay

If you are too high out of your mind to read the big RED warning message, maybe you shouldn't be purchasing narcotics online. Had this user tested a deposit before? Reusing addresses is stupid but the problem here lies almost entirely with the user. The blatant lies in the header of the post accusing of scamming etc are probably what got him banned.

Anyways, not a shill, I don't trust carders but I would trust them over someone who can't read a big red warning..

The issue has nothing to do with whether the OP made a mistake or not. He clearly did. They could have said "tough luck, you fucked up, we can't help you." The issue is that instead of saying that, alphabaysupport "offered him a gift on his 2.9 BTC back in exchange for him deleting his reddit thread" That is the definition of extortion and shows that AlphaBay's support team cannot be trusted. Then they banned him from the market completely for "disrespecting AlphaBay". This is not how a professional market's support team should behave.

Blackbank re-used addresses for a long time, which pissed a lot of people off.

This whole situation got blown way out of proportion. The dude definitely screwed up by sending his bitcoins to the wrong address, that's like blaming the post office because you wrote the wrong address on a letter. However, AB's response doesn't necessarily reflect well on them as a market, and if they weren't reusing addresses then it wouldn't have cost them the ~2.4 btc they paid the guy to delete his thread.

Neither one of them was really in the right here, but now AB has set themselves up to be extorted in the future by essentially paying people to take down negative posts about their market.

New users may forget this and may have only just worked out how Bitcoin works recently, they could then easily assume their coins will reach them if they follow the steps they did on their first deposit. You need to account for people's stupidness and if not, at least honour it because the coins should not have reached an active wallet where someone else could use them.

It in partial has to do with that issue. The rest of it is Alphabay getting it's feelings hurt because a user came forward about how Alphabay wasn't helping him. English wasn't his first language, but he still got his point across.

They said they could only retrieve .55btc, but when they didn't respond to him, he posted that thread, then they said they could no longer give him that amount because of his post, and in turn banned him also.

Now they magically got the vendors to cancel their orders, got the funds back from them, and the .55btc, all he had to do was delete the thread. Sounds pretty amazing doesn't it? Magic is a wonderful thing let me tell you. When someone is forced in front of the public, and pushed into a corner, they magically find the solution that would have prevented all this bullshit to begin with. Then they say they "gifted" him 2.9btc, roflllllllll o Alpha you so funny ;)

Magic.
