Following the notion of funding the wall with a 20% tariff on Mexican imports (essentially, a sales tax on American consumers) was thoroughly mocked before being retracted, Trump issued a memo threatening to enact restrictions on the flow of cash from Mexican migrants to their families back home unless Mexico pays a "$5-10 billion" ransom.
So, what would you do if you were a random guy in a cubicle stressing about how to keep up with sending your $200/wk home to your granny in Mexico City? Cryptocurrency is an obvious solution.
My concern is a timeline like:
-Mexican-Americans start using Bitcoin to replace Western Union, etc. This is a $24 billion/year industry, and would cause a huge fluctuation in the price and availability of BTC.
-Law enforcement cracks down on Bitcoin exchanges, justifying sweeping invasions of privacy under the pretense of verifying immigration status.
-As with all such things, laws made with big foreign policy justifications are always abused to prosecute drug dealers.
What does r/dnm think about this, and what might people want to do to prepare?
Build that wall, trump acting like niggas in Mexico don't have ladders.
