Problem After Tails Update

installed latest version of tails, booted up fine but when I go to move the mouse OR track pad it doesn't move an inch. I've come to the conclusion that it may be frozen. I've used tails for many months without this specific problem. I've tried running failsafe tails and that seemed to freeze. I'm now on my 2nd attempt of the failsafe boot up and I might just have to reinstall tails (fml).

I have that error sometimes. just reboot and try again . try moving your mouse around during the boot. maybe this somehow activates the driver. I'm talkin about my ass tho I know nothing about programming or linux

this happened to me too. here is how to fix it... the data is there but it isn't being mounted properly. see for yourself. navigate to /live/persistence/TailsData_unlocked/Persistent/ and you will see all of your data. copy all of the important stuff to another usb stick as backup. don't forget to back up your electrum wallets at /live/persistence/TailsData_unlocked/electrum/wallets and your PGP key.

DO NOT PROCEED UNTIL YOU BACKED UP YOUR DATA OR YOU RISK LOSING YOUR DATA!!!!!!!

now to fix it, go to Applications > Tails > Configure Persistent Volume. check all of the boxes that you checked when you created your original persistent volume. click next. now restart. all done!

if that doesn't work, you may have to manually write your persistence.conf file because that's what got wiped out when you upgraded. see this thread for more details: https://www.reddit.com/r/tails/comments/23ai1r/persistent_volume_has_disappeared_but_im_still/

Try in /r/Tails

You're not alone: https://www.reddit.com/r/tails/comments/5d7wqh/updating_to_27_broke_my_mouse/

If you're up for it, I would strongly suggest that you report this on the Tails bug tracker, at https://labs.riseup.net/code/projects/tails

I don't have a direct fix for you but I had the same problem. I installed tails 2.7 on another USB Stick, then I used the application "Tails installer" and used the option "Upgrade by cloning". Now I can boot from my old USB stick again without issues.
