Migrate?

EDIT: I'm not suggesting that we plain, pack up bags and leave Reddit. It is indispensible, I know. Just suggesting that it helps to have an alternative place to fall back upon.

Why don't we all slowly establish more of this community on the dark webs? Not saying to quit reddit entirely (it's a very useful resource) but also, have onion forums as a backup.

Recently saw the HUB being ressurected back to life and it's a very good resource, although lacking on tools and simplicity and functionality of reddit but still can act as a very reliable and definitive source to regroup and to not be pushed to the ground as LE has been attempting to do so intensify(UNCONFIRMED!)

Because the alternative scenario would leave us all segregated/divided and would only hurt the morale of the community and might as wll be a decisive blow to us.

Please excuse bad grammar/sentence structure. Very sleepy rn.

Thank you.

Reddit is free and handles all of the complicated parts of hosting a community. It also allows some transparency in terms of seeing who the moderators are and being able to see what changes have been made to important community resources (seeing the edit history on the superlist, etc). The moderation setup means that even if a mod suddenly drops out of contact the others can continue on normally.

With a deep web site one person needs to handle all of the hosting details. They also need to pay for it. This can be either out of their pocket (which can lead to resentment and a sense of ownership) or from solicited donations which can be a major source of worry and drama. If they decide to take a break from the community and there is a server issue, the whole thing is fucked. The owner/moderators would also have to deal with all the spam, DDoS attacks and hacking attempts that Reddit normally handles silently behind the scenes.

TL;DR: Reddit does a lot of stuff for free that would be very difficult to do normally. Operating on the deep web adds additional complexity.

The mods have supposedly been working on a backup, not sure what that means but i guess they are.

What your asking is not the easy, this community has been built up over years and a lot of hard work has gone into it. Right now we are okay and honestly theres no reason to think otherwise as long as we can continue to follow the rules and self-police.

And if you are worried about anonymity on reddit its fairly simple to just use tor and you will be secure as can be.

There are a good few onion forums which have much more info available than here on Reddit.

It takes a bit of browsing and reading to get to them, I won’t name.
