[OPSEC/Computer] A new potential alternative to burner laptops

So I was browsing in reddit and found out this new project for the cheap computer called CHIP. Basically, it's a $9 computer which for additional $40 can be bought with a PocketCHIP. It contains battery, keyboard and a screen which turns it into a portable computer for $49.

As soon as I saw it, my first thought was "this would be a perfect burner computer". Especially for big time dealers. I imagine they could easily be used for dnm activities and having one of these would mean that there is no more need to worry about OPSEC. Just use it once or twice and throw it away. Use public wi-fi, keep swapping places and pretty much the only thing that you have to worry about is physical OPSEC.

The project is still in development stages but if anyone's interested, you can start donating now:

Can someone find that thread where a vendor said he got a new laptop for a grand every two weeks to vend? Shit was hilarious.

I actually want one of these just to screw around with, I'd imagine it'd be great as a portable emulation device as well.

Just buy a laptop for cash off Craigslist, remove the HD, and use Tails.

is it ARM or x86? Because raspberry pi is also super cheap and tiny but good luck getting all the shit you need to run tor browser on it

can you run pgp and tor on this, and can you run it from a usb? Does this little things have a usb port?

One consideration for this is that the market is relatively small. It's a niche product, and as such, it'd be pretty easy to flag frequent purchasers of the things, and watch for other suspicious purchases. You run this risk with loads of things, but it's still important to keep in mind.

lmao i don't think a 'burner laptop' is really a thing

just boot off a usb thumb drive
