[OPSEC] Can someone ELI5 the legal ramifications of a controlled delivery?

I really don't understand how controlled deliveries work. What does it legally prove? I accept (and sign for) packages frequently and I don't always know what they are. Sometimes they are things I bought a long time ago, like electronics from China, and I sometime sign for people in my family.

So what does signing for something actually prove? If me signing for a package actually implicates me, it seems like an enemy could just mail something illegal to me with signature required and I would be screwed.

Am I missing something here?

CD is an easy way for LE to catch you red handed expecting a contraband delivery. That is federal jail time. Turning it down doesn't mean that you won't get arrested but it does mean that you have plausible deniability and a better chance of getting off the hook as long as you keep your mouth shut.

I'm no expert seeing as I haven't had a controlled delivery happen to me myself, but a CD will likely only happen once your mail's been watched. Unless you have a very rich and persistent enemy you're probably safe.

If you suspect a CD is going to take place... clean up in there. Make sure there's nothing else to find that could incriminate you.

They come to your door dressed as a postal worker make you sign then they wait and hope you open it after an hour or so they break your door down and point guns in your face. Then they search your house and break everything they can (xbox, TVs and anything they are jealous that you have but they dont). They don't know when you open your package they just hope you do cause I never open the box I got they did.

Then they take your PC your laptops and your cell phone and other things they have no use for but they are trying to piss you off and ruin your life.

Still awaiting trial spent over 20,000 on my lawyers so far. But he said if I do get my PC back they will delete everything and as a graphic designer, web designer, network administrator and level designer for a bunch of games my digital portfolio will be destroyed.

LE can lie, cheat and steal to get what they want. They opened my package and said I need to start talking and I asked why? They showed me a vac bag and I said I have no idea.

Also the second the came in and pointed a .45 in my face I said I want to remain silent and not be asked questions without a lawyer present. They then asked tons of questions and then brought me into an interrogation room where the first thing I said was I want a lawyer. So the agent sat there and literally shit talked and made fun of me for 20 min while I asked for a lawyer before questioning.

Tldr: CD's suck you won't get off easy unless your house is 100% clean and we know that's not usually the way it is.

PS. When they get your package it will come on the right day but a few hours later than usual and there is no way to know they are about to do it except when you hear your door smashed down by a bunch of fat assholes with no life's.

If I remember correctly, they have you sign so they know the package is in the hands of the person they are investigating. Simply signing doesn't mean shit other than I'm the guy! They then wait for the package to be opened, (they put a small electronic device that let's off a alarm directly to them when the package has been opened.) That is when they bust in FBI GET ON THE GROUND YOU DIRTY TERRORIST DRUG USER! Seriously tho, signing doesn't mean your guilty, they just wanna know its going to the correct person. Then they watch you open it, that's really when your fucked.

Have you never heard the expression: "Possession is Nine-Tenths of the Law"?
