Safest way to wipe laptop?

I want to remove all history of TOR and DNMs on my laptop, would a factory restore be safe enough? I have tails set up now and would like the laptop to be as clean as possible.

i dont want to throw my laptop in a lake after drilling 5 holes in the hard drive just because ive downloaded tor before

Use a soft cloth, lint-free if possible. Otherwise you might scratch the screen :)

OK seriously, a factory restore would be more than enough unless you're Ross Ulbricht (or the likes of) himself. Are you worried about LE or family/friends/selling the laptop? If it's not LE then just fully un-install TOR and delete the install package you downloaded and you'll be fine.

I'm interested in this also. But OP...why the need to do this? Having TOR on your laptop isn't illegal...

DBAN.

But the easiest is to just buy a whole new drive, they're cheap as hell now and you'd have complete peace of mind knowing that absolutely nothing from your past is on it (even though DBAN is overkill, a new drive is a new drive lol).

Kudos for learning Tails.

Forget the holes stick with lake.

Take out the hard drive and use a hammer on it. Pick it up and shake it. If you hear parts inside you're good and can dispose of it. If you don't hear anything hit it more until you do.

Hard drives are not expensive, don't get caught because you wanted to save $50.
