CaliConnect is a local!

Dark Net Vendor CaliConnect is from my town. According to DeepDotWeb he was the 18th largest vendor on the Silk Road. Apparently the dumbass trademarked his vendor name, thats how they flagged him for investigation.

Should people who ordered from Cali Connect over the various darknet markets be worried?

Obligatory asking for a friend disclaimer.

Wow, the lengths they have to go through to cubby l convict someone makes it seen unlikely they'll ever go after users who buy small amounts.

using several darknet markets including the Silk Road, Agora, Abraxas, and AlphaBay under the moniker “Caliconnect”. Federal authorities estimate that the total worth of every transaction made by Caliconnect is $1.43 million.

3 of those 4 marketplace websites no longer exist. The feds only have the server for Silk Road, so how much he earned on Agora and Abraxas should be safe from the prosecutor, right?

Wrong. We had a supergrass in our midst, under the codename "gwern". No supergrass has ever so comprehensively recorded so many illegal drug transactions, for so many drug dealers and drug users, for so long and in such detail. He also wore a wire on every marketplace drug forum and recorded every conversation.

Worst of all, he moved amongst us, here, in this very subreddit. Not only was it tolerated, he was a moderator so as the world looks angrily at us making that throat-cutting gesture with its hand we look at our shoes and try to forget all the "gwern for president" shite we now regret.

The day his nerve went and he stepped down, he gave us the finger by dumping all the records of our drug deals on the kerb in 37 trash bags instead of shredding them, making them public domain.

I wouldn't be surprised if he is still alive and out on the street, whilst his victims die of old age in jail thanks to his evidence. It was more audacious than the cop who worked for John Gotti, because gwern was a made-man here. I know from personal experience that any drug dealer who argued with him was ganged up on by the moderators at the time. At one point, Hank_Vendor and I were the only vendors active on here, and the mods spoke to me with the barely-concealed distain of corrupt cops who were used to shining a lamp in our faces and slapping us. Is it any wonder that the rumor started and nearly every vendor fucked off?

In the end, it turned out that the newly-crreated mods weren't cops at all. They were just naive and stupid, unaware of how they must appear to the drug world, flaring vendors with a concience like me and organizing fights like this place was a computer game.

Poor Cali Connect is one of us. he will lose everything he owns and rot in jail for twice as long thanks to the most-shameful episode in this sub's history. It seems like a million years ago but it started exactly one year ago this week.

We have done some great, heroic things here, but the main thing we will be remembered for is that the biggest supergrass in criminal history was almost in charge.

Most of the people who stayed silent or even supported him are long-gone, but its still a bit like if you visit Germany. You look at the pensioners and wonder what they did during the war.
