I had a recent discussion with a friend about what I consider the weakest point of DNM transactions - the fact that at some point you need to give a real name and address if you want a high probability of the delivery making it to you. Sure, you can try to anonymously rent post office boxes, find a drop address or whatever else, but for an occasional buyer that's a lot of effort.
Some folks suggest using a fake name, but that's a sure way to increase the probability of the package never being delivered to you or the package getting more scrutiny since the name doesn't match up. Vendors always discourage it as well.
What about sending a trickle of letters to your real address but with a fake name in advance, to 'establish' the name as associated with your address? Then the mailman will learn to recognize it and send mail with that name on through. You send them every few weeks or month or so for a while, and monitor that they make it through. Then when you want to make a DNM order, use that name.
If for some reason you get a controlled delivery or anything else, you have a much better alibi established. You don't know why you keep getting mail for this random person, you've never met them!
Thoughts?
