Just got mail for an old resident. Is this an opportunity presenting itself, or a bad idea?

I have been living in a house with 3 roommates for the past year, and yesterday I found some mail for who I would presume is a past resident. Until now, I have been ordering under my own name so it doesn't raise any suspicion having randomly named mail sent to my house.

Would it be a good idea to have future packages sent under that past residents name? Or would this just add mail fraud to any potential charges?

Edit: Seems the consensus is that packages never show up for past residents so it's a bad idea. Thanks guys, glad I asked before doing it.

There's a difference between a past resident's mail that comes in envelops vs a padded envelop/package. They won't deliver those (not often at least) least and then they will attempt to find that person..is that a road you're willing to travel down?

I get mail for 3-5 past tenants, but never packages. This is a bad idea, if you're super gung-ho, start with a $5usb cable or phone case or something.

You run the risk of the pack being forwarded, former tenant opening it, reporting to police and them figuring out it was forwarded. Way more risky than ordering with your own name.

a buddy of mines who orders personal does this. he found out mail from a old tenant(he knows) still gets mail at his place. from what he has told me he still uses the name not on every pack but some so it looks like hes not getting to many. i would say go for it but im just some guy. if there dropping mail of there REGULARLY then they will drop a package off there too i dont know why people are saying the mail man wont. u mean to tell me the maillman would unknowingly drop mail to an adress that isnt theirs but when it comes to a pack suddenly they care. that just isnt true.

I have received free oxys because someone used my name after I moved out. I had set up a forwarding address to my new place and magically one day I got free shit (~$200 if I had to guess, pain pills aren't my thing). I had no idea what the dark nets were for about 6 months, then everything clicked. I'd strongly recommend not using an old residents info.

This has been asked a thousand times and it's always a bad idea. Do a search, or if your gonna just ignore everything because it's such a fool proof plan then just delete this thread and give it a go.

i have a neat pack of mail from my previous tenants on top of my fridge which i still regularly receive.. whenever I order internation I just take the new pack and leave it with the rest for a few weeks incase anyone comes knocking.
