[ShippingandDelivery] Vendor didn't use enough postage - return to sender situation - worried

I ordered a small amount (<2g) of something. It didn't arrive so I contacted the vendor and he said he didn't pay enough postage on some orders but that I have nothing to worry about and he can resend it.

Obviously if the vendor is using bogus return address I do have something to worry about. My address would be compromised and I would need to clean house. (Please no Belize or house burning jokes...this is a bad day for me). I guess the pack will go to wherever undeliverable mail goes. How much time do I have until it gets opened? Or is that unknown (could be today, could be months from now)?

The vendor implied that this is not an issue, though. Is there some alternative to vendor using fake return address so they could actually retrieve "return to sender" packs or otherwise know that it won't get opened by gov? How else would this vendor be able to say "don't worry" short of lying?

I'm sure some of you will want me reveal the vendor. If they don't prove to me that things are OK I would like to but I don't know if I will because of doxing risk or other OPSEC issues. Thoughts?

Anything else that I should know or do?

Thank you.

It could be delivered to you postage due. It happens so much, some pay the PO in advance. If it goes to dead letter, they burn all letters. Packages are only opened to retrieve items of value, to later be sold. Unless there's reason for further investigation.

Maybe I have this confused with another country, but I think everything at dead letter has to sit for 6 months, providing an ample opportunity to be claimed.

If the "fake" return address is a bureaucracy, they may very well pay the postage due for you.

Man, such a simple mistake you hate to see this shit happen over something so simple. Most vendors will use a real address to some random person or business. If this is the case, that person or business will receive the pack in a few days and will probably open it. At this point more than likely the police will be contacted. Bc the amounts are so low you probably won't hear anything further. Maybe worst you'll receive a phone call or a knock and talk. Just don't say anything incriminating and it'll probably go away.

Personally, I'd consider the address burned for the time being. Clean house as a precaution of course. But I'd wait on getting another order until you have some more info on what happened - did vendor use His drop (unlikely), a fake, non existent address, or a real address the vendor doesn't controk? If it's a fake addy entirely it'll go to the dead mail center and sit there for a few months. They'll open it to see if they can find clues to identify the intended sender or recipient. Ask the vendor.

Also, keep in the mind that the vendor could be lying on a few things. Maybe he never sent it and is making up an excuse? Did he show u tracking? That it'd explain why he's so nonchalant about the situation. Although maybe he doesn't care about your opsec compromise so that's a potential reason. Consider though that the vendor didn't actually ship it and is lying about that to save face. Often if a pack is short postage the PO will give the recipient the opportunity to pay the remaining postage. Did you ever get a pink slip from postman? Good luck but until you get further info I'd consider your address burned. Try to get the tracking number to show the return to sender.

So the vendor has a story that, if true, would mean I'm okay. Don't want to reveal too much at this point but it seems they can safely retrieve things at the return address. It doesn't seem like a method just anyone could use but it sounds legit.

Still, the only way I'll feel 100% safe is with some proof that the returned pack is in his hands. I asked him if he can do that. Not sure how since he can't just post an unaltered picture of it on imgur! But we'll see what he says.

Is it Synester? And was it Etizolam, let us know how it turns out cause I'm in the same situation.

So I went ahead and made my way to the post office with an oversized letter just in case I saw lE coming my way and I could shove my package in there. I played the remaining postage and walked out, no problem. Its clear to go.
