I'll make the case against the PO Box. You play devil's advocate and tell me why I'm wrong.

I've been thinking a lot about a PO Box. I've read all the info I can find (the search button sucks, but Google is my friend). Still, I don't see how the pros outweigh the cons. So I'll tell you why NOT to use a PO Box. You tell me why I'm wrong (because serously, I really want to know).

Getting a PO Box means the package is in the control of the USPS that much longer. The lobby is probably filmed 24/7. The box is opened under my license, so it's 100% tied to my name. If they ever discover a package, it's 100% mine, and they know it.

However, if I just let the mail come to my front door, then I see it as MUCH safer. Whenever I have a package coming, put everything illegal and place it in a go bag. That go bag is taken somewhere safe. Now there is NOTHING in my house that shows I'm a potential DNM client. Not even Tails or the laptop I use it on. I'm just a regular person. That package mailed to me? I've got nothing to say, I'll get a laywer. The lawyer will make the case for me that someone else mailed the package and was going to take it before I ever saw it. It's not mine.

If I the package come to a PO Box, I don't get to play that scenario out. I don't really know what defense I come up with.

So, make the case for me. Why should I get a PO box?

PO Boxes provide safety from nosy roommates and some anonymity in that vendors don't immediately have your home addy. While you are technically right that a pack is sitting in USPS control longer, that's a very loose definition of what "control" means. Realistically it's sitting in your box and they prob won't give it a second glance. So it's a very loose definition as it's not truly in their hot little hands that entire time.

It's true they'll have you on video picking it up. I posit that it doesn't matter for anybody except maybe those getting bulk for distribution. The only time it matters is if they are busting you and in that case they'll have evidence of you accepting the package either way. More than likely you'll be busted within minutes. For a distributor where they may let you take the pack and not bust you right away, this may make it easy to show you did get it and never return it. For a personal buyer this won't matter. A bust will go down within minutes either way. For a distributor even then it may not make much of a difference bc if they are letting you receive the pack and stew on it, they are watching either way

The short of it is that a PO Box is not better or worse necessarily than a normal addy. It has it's pros and cons and most have nothing to do with legal stuff. It's more reducing the risk of package theft.

In your specific example your go bag is not relevant. Regardless of where the pack is delivered, LE will not lose control of that pack. They'll know where it is. Prob bc they bust you within minutes. You are making the assumption LE will give you time to move the goods. They won't. Having a clean house is important in both cases. Possession of the pack will give them a search warrant usually. A PO box doesn't prevent that unless you have it in someone else's name or something which can be worse. You'll get a boot to the throat in no time in both cases. You'll be afforded the same defenses you have in both cases. I believe it plays little to no difference. LE isn't going to let you go a few days without watching that pack.

There might be a very narrow scenario where what you say is valid. If LE didn't perform a CD at the time and got info much later that you received illegal shit. At a PO box they'd have a video of you getting a pack. At home they wouldn't. But this is an extremely narrow case that is not the case 99% of the time. Bottom line if they don't do a CD at time of delivery or was watching the pack, they have nothing but maybe a knock and talk

Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't believe anyone ever said a P.O. box was better than a legitimate mailing address. They just say if you live with roommates or worse parents don't send shit there and get a P.O box

There really isnt to much of a difference other than not letting people all over the DNM know where you sleep at night. Personally I use a PO box. Your home address is tied 100% to your name JUST like a P.O. Box is. No difference there. Some spiteful ex-girlfriend or jealous friend could still know about your P.O. Box and send you drugs... so that excuse is still usable in court. You can still put everything illegal in your house into a "go-bag" when you are going to retrieve it from the PO Box. So no difference there. Using a PO box means 1 or 2 less PO workers actually put their hands on your package meaning drawing less attention to it. Using a PO box means no one can steal your shit out of your home mail box. The only REAL pro i can think of when using a home address is that you can look out your window and see them put a small box in your mail box or they put it on your porch instead of having to go check your PO box everyday.. Really not to much of a difference. I have always had girlfriends, roommates, etc where I live so I personally like the privacy of a PO box.

I'm Right The use of the term "Go Bag" makes me feel a bit uncomfortable. Based on that seems I ought to include clean underwear in mine.

[1 Points] Hank_Vendor:

them having it longer doesbt matter if the extra time it is sat in a box. it still goes through the same amoubt of checks. no more no less.

the plus side is you cab possibly get one which is not linked to you.

also I should have read theecopomist reply before I bothered to type this

So what about a box at like the local pack and mail place or the UPS store. Those are technically PO box. Are they any more viable of a solution?

Would it be a red flag if an 18 year old such as myself opened a PO for DNM purchases?
