Probably a smart move...

Starting from July 15th 2015 Agora will no longer list lethal weapons.
Following our mission we wish such objects would be available for purchase, but the current reality of it is that the format of a market like ours does not constitute a good way to do it. Shipping weapons is hard, they are expensive and stimulate both scamming by dishonest vendors and honeypot listings by agencies looking to find buyers who might wish to obtain such weapons illegally from us. This has been reflected for a long time in both the volume and the success rates of our listings in the weapons section.
At this point continuing to list weapons would do more harm than good for our users.

Smart move on Agora's part

[14 Points] CocaineNose:

I find it hard to believe a single gun was ever sold. scams or LE only

I wonder which Agora mod attended this online Seminar :) https://www.cepol.europa.eu/education-training/what-we-teach/online-learning/20150625/webinar-222015-firearms-and-darknet

I applaud the decision. Don't get me wrong, I'm an owner of guns and a few other "lethal weapons" but I abide by the law with them and have no problem having my information submitted bc if for some reason I do have to shoot somebody, they're going to have to make me do it, and I know the laws so I will do it lawfully. The problem is with lethal weapons, you aren't just harming yourself...you have the potential to seriously harm others, and it's a question of why, if they are legal to buy, do you have to go through those lengths to acquire a weapon? You may have done some shit (not a lot of people with felonies, I know!) that would make any reasonable person hesitant to allow them to acquire another gun. Like I wouldn't sell a gun to a sexual predator. It's hard to reconcile violent crime with people doing psychedelics and recreational drugs, as most drug users seem to be pretty compassionate people, especially the psychedelic and cannabis communities. It's just a good move to further distance recreational drug use from violent crime. Let the ATF focus on some other market or vendor. I wouldn't begin to trust ordering a gun off the Dark Web anyway. You know what would be a great way to get rid of a murder weapon? Scrub it clean and sell it on one of these markets. That could be the piece of evidence that would solve some innocent person's murder. Even if it isn't LE stings, do you really want a potentially hot weapon? Don't get me wrong... I grew up shooting guns, had pocket knives of my own under the age of 10, and love militaria so I have a collection of some really cool stuff that was totally intended to kill, but I wouldn't add anything to it from a market on here. Maybe this will make a slight dent in Agora's downtime

Smart move.

How will they define lethal weapons? The actual limit is kind of subjective. Obviously firearms, but what about knives, brass knuckles, et cetera?

[1 Points] slicksr:

Agreed, good decision! and following that announcement, I have a feeling Agora is here to stay... which would be a lovely change in recent months! I hope they covered their tracks better than the last however, as they could already be the next big target. Tread carefully Ag, you've been reliable when others weren't and I'm positive we'd all love for you to be the one that became the pillar in an otherwise crumbling free market.

[1 Points] SecondChanceUsername:

If we're talking 'guns' then its not a big deal, as they were never a big part of DN. There was a point where guns were the talk of the forums for months. But vendors not being reliable and heat being high is what scares users from lethal-product purchases

All the weapons listing on there were fake anyway

[1 Points] auto587643:

This is a smart move on Agora's part. I'm all for gun rights and the 2nd Amendment, but almost all of the firearms listings were fake scams or LE traps. They also weren't even that profitable, so getting rid of them doesn't really affect Agora's business. It will get rid of a bunch of obvious LE sting-ops/scammers though.

[1 Points] pugsfordrugs:

I wonder if they'll change their logo?

Does this mean the owners of Agora are based in the United States? ...what are they doing....move....now...
