False info in USPS tracking?

So I just placed my third order with this new vendor I've been using. So far they've been really good, but this past order something weird is going on with the shipping.

The package got sent out Monday and was displaying an expected delivery date of Thursday. All the other packages were Mon-Wed but I shrugged it off. Today it arrived at my post office and made it out for delivery so the expected delivery date changed to today. It says it got delivered this afternoon but it's not here.

Is this a mistake or just odd?

I'm going to go to the post office tomorrow and see what's up and I've already emailed the vendor. Hoping I can get a free or discounted reship but not exactly sure...

Anyone experienced anything like this?

How are you going to look nonsuspicious in the process of going to the PO with a tracking # looking for this package you've been expecting like REALLY EXPECTING. Then when your long lost treasure is located, you ... REFUSE to sign for it?

Once upon a time, there was a fat package that decided it was going to travel my way. I was very excited for this package, and would check the tracking religiously. Despite my obtuse enthusiasm, I forgot about tracking the package in transit for a few days. Eventually my brain-fart aired itself out, and I returned to that one website with the long numbers and various things listed. Yeah, that one. I was absolutely thrilled to see that the package had been delivered! Sweet! To the front porch, even better! So I get my fatass off the couch and waddle to the front door, peering out of the shutters like that one neighbor does all too often. Immediately, my fluster was reduced to despair. All that I found was my welcome mat, caked with the usual mud stains. I began to hallucinate vividly different situations and scenarios that could be a possibility. I even went and asked those who share my housing if they had seen anything in the mail lately. Take a deep breath here, everybody: this was a legal package. Nothing to hide, officer. Well, shit! Did the postman fuck up? He obviously did, putting it at the wrong address! Great! Now some bozo has my shit and could open it and decide it is better in his inventory! I immediately planned on marching up to the doorstep of the local Post Office and demanding my package right this instant! But that would end up being a fruitless endeavor, because the package showed itself the next day.

Lesson here, kids, is that the PostDaddy sometimes marks things as "delivered" and then really delivers them the next day. Check around with some searches, it is a somewhat common phenomenon.

Sounds like L.E. may have got it and is setting up a controlled delivery. Be careful

postal carriers are busy people. sometimes they scan packages and update them to delivered before they even put them on the truck to save time. it's possible your carrier just missed it and it's still sitting in the back of his truck. it'll probably show up tomorrow.
