[GeneralQuestions] USPS Priority Express question

So after being scammed I was the least to say ticked off. In hopes of getting something somewhat on time I placed an order with another vendor that had express shipping which was quite steep. This order was placed last Thursday, marked as shipped the following day, although later than I had hoped for a Saturday delivery. But you never really know when something went out. Anyways didn't arrive Saturday, Monday was a holiday, and Tuesday I was expecting it but nothing showed. Wouldn't most assume Tuesday to be the day for delivery? I tried contacting said vendor with no response. I'm a bit upset simply because he said it should be there Saturday, and considering I paid a premium for expedited service I had hoped he would update me on the status by now. I'm primarily concerned because it's express which I avoid like the plaque. Thanks

Mail gets lost all the time, maybe tell us the vendor it you might be able to get people with reports of delays from him or that you should of had it saturday who knows.

Lots of vendors don't actually ship when they mark your order as shipped. Especially for heroin. Most overnight orders take 3 days or sometimes more

So far after two failures on Evo, i plan on going back to Agora. Site may be down a bit more but this is my sign to get out of Evolution.

Not all Priority Mail Express is guaranteed for next-day delivery. Depending on the zip code of origin vs. destination, yours could have been a 2nd Day Priority Mail Express. Tracking the pkg. will tell you. Of course, the sender might not be keen on giving up the digits(rightly so) but risks nothing by simply telling you yours is a 1 or 2 day delivery. If you knew the zip code it was sent from you could easily look it up by using the Postage Calculator at usps.com. Even if you knew the city or town or even the name of a nearby town you could look up the zip code on your own and have a good chance of figuring it out using the PC.

BTW, there is a daily cut-off time for processing outgoing Express Mail. If a say, 5PM deadline on a Friday is met, you can expect an overnight delivery commitment be met. If it doesn't get dropped until say, 6 PM...there will be no guaranteed next-day(or 2-day if that's the case) delivery. Express Mail that misses the deadline is processed as the following day's mail which means overnight delivery won't be guaranteed until Monday. (and 2-day Express Tuesday)

This is a really common issue with priority express on markets.

Here's the deal:

Priority express is only treated as such if the package is shipped in one of two ways, both of which are risky for vendors.

  1. Use usps online to generate the label and postage and schedule a pickup.

  2. Go to the post office and fill out the form by hand and give the package over to the clerk who will then enter it into the tracking system manually.

Many many many vendors get the blue and white envelopes, print their own label and attach a genuine usps tracking number, place the correct postage on it, and toss into a blue bin.

SOMETIMES this works. I would venture to say less than half of the time. It's really most likely it just arrived quickly enough and the carrier recognizes the color and brings on first round.

Binned mail is picked up and thrown into sort facilities and scanned when they're gotten to. Express mail shouldn't come from bin collections, so whoever handles it may or may not bother to process it as such. They usually don't. The proper paperwork isn't attached to it this way so they have no obligation whatsoever to treat it any differently than a first class package. Often they scan as regular priority. Sometimes they're not even scanned.

However once it reaches your local zip, your carrier may or may not decide to run it with express (which is generally guaranteed before noon in the USA) or will also carry on just treating it as if someone used the wrong envelope.

Unless a vendor assures you they actually fill out the forms, which again is a big risk to them and likely not worth it, I wouldn't order priority express. Since it might work using the blue bin method, some vendors still offer it but they typically will be upfront and say they still blue bin it.

But I've also heard way too many (almost always new) vendors who didn't realize this technicality who say they've lost too much money on reships of express packs since again, whoever first scans it decides which outgoing bin it sorts to, and if they'll even bother with scanning the tracking label since it was done incorrectly.

So you're most likely safe to assume that your pack was shipped but not scanned into priority express. It will likely show up in about a week.

If the vendor is ignoring you and it's more than 2 days past a reasonable arrival expectation, file a dispute. Personally I believe vendors should fully understand that a blue envelope and extra postage does not assure expedited processing. I don't know what market admins might think. But a dispute will force the vendor to offer tracking to prove it was sent out and you can go from there.
