Being blackmailed

I received a letter in the mail today that read:

WE KNOW YOU'RE GETTING DRUGS IN THE MAIL

WE KNOW WHERE YOU'RE GETTING THEM FROM

WE EVEN KNOW WHEN THEY ARRIVE

WANT US TO KEEP THIS OR SECRET?

SEND 0.5 BTC TO THIS ADDRESS

New bitcoin address listed

BEFORE MIDNIGHT EST JULY 19TH

AFTER DEADLINE, THE PRICE DOUBLES

ON THE MORNING OF JULY 22ND WE WILL BEGIN REPORTING TO ALL RELEVANT AUTHORITIES ON THOSE TARGETS WHO HAVE NOT PAID

THOSE TARGETS CAN EXPECT:

CONTROLLED DELIVERS

RAIDS

FEDERAL PRISON TIME

THIS IS NOT A GAME THIS IS YOUR LIFE

It came from an address in Florida but the address does not seem to be legitimate. I am guessing this letter is just a form of blackmail but I am not sure what to do about it. I have a few orders being processed and I feel as if I should cancel them.

Has anyone else received anything like this?

send a dollar worth of bitcoin and attach a public note telling them to come to your house dont be a pussy lets settle this f2f. This is what I would do, I'm not scared of no internet drug dealer. I would say come thru if you got beef, cuz i got steaks lets grill.

Do not pay. Scammers like this are after imbeciles who can be frightened.

Do not order anything else to that address. Create new darknet accounts. Make sure your computers/smartphones are not infected with malware. Create a new PGP keypair.

Solved. The note writer is Young Jeezy

I will NOT be paying this piece of shit. However, I am not sure what I should do about the orders that I have already placed. Should I message the vendors and try to get them to cancel them, or can I proceed as I normally would and let the orders be processed?

[4 Points] SteveLurkell:

It sounds like one of the people you're ordering from is doing it. You may want to find new vendors once you clean up. Definitely save the letter just in case and if you get cops running up on you just tell them the person who sent the note ordered the drugs. If you ever feel weak or scared enough to tell on yourself just tell them you made one unsuccessful order more out of disbelief and curiosity than anything, and now have been targeted by the same scam vendor for extortion. You can basically make up a vendor and tell them the order was months ago.

[4 Points] longfoot:

Urgh. At least you're not being whitemailed.

[3 Points] ihavebigtanks:

You should tell them to fuck off in the meanest way possible. There is nothing they can do to you unless you order again to that address. You cant be arrested because someone once claimed you got drugs in the mail. Clean your house, tell them to shove their dick up their own asshole, and find a new place to order to.

Ignore it

[1 Points] 13tom13:

im glad your not paying, if vendors started thinking they could do this we could all be in alot of trouble - i hope its all talk or that if something does happen you can get the vendor on blackmail charges

[1 Points] aircoft:

It's most likely from a vendor you bought from trying to scam some money out of their customers. I'd personally ignore it and keep living as you were before. A drug dealer surely isn't going to go to law enforcement to blackmail a customer of theirs.

If you've been doing any business with a new/newer vendor, or someone you don't trust as much as other vendors, I'd stop buying from them immediately.

If you get more messages from the same address, I'd just have the mailman return it to the sender ("return to sender") just so you're not dealing with any more of them.

It's obviously a total scam and I wouldn't let it bother you, and of course don't pay them anything.

Peace.

Bad news is that it sounds like one of your vendors is a total asshole.

Good news is that an anonymous phone call isn't grounds for the police to kick in your door.

The cops can't touch you. After all, the drugs getting delivered to your house could just as easily have been sent there by the blackmailer to frame you.

If I were you, I would report this to the admins of the DNM sites you frequent. If other people have been getting these letters, it shouldn't be that hard to cross reference and find what vendor you all have in common

Sorry you're going through this though OP, this sucks

What marketplaces do you use? Do you use a variety of vendors? Any inkling on what vendor it might be?

Somewhere there was a marketplace leak / hack or a scumbag vendor (sounds like something PureFireMeds would try to pull).

Sounds crazy but maybe a neighbor, mailman, or one of your "friends" know you order stuff of darknet markets and is the culprit? Never EVER let your friends know about your darknet market activities regardless of how close you think they are... they might not be an addict now but addicts do very dumb things.

Furthermore I would not send a small amount of BTC with a message to "frack off" as others have suggested... no need to stoke the fire.

[EDIT: If you downvote why don't you reply why you are downvoting?]
