If you are trafficking 17 pounds of meth and get caught, why would you admit to LE you have done it 9 times before?

I just don't understand.

admitted to purchasing 67 pounds of crystal meth during approximately nine trips

admitted to carrying a firearm

Just why in the hell would you admit to these things? Now fellas is going to the pounder for life. Even Walter White didn't cook so much meth in his camping car.

There, the answer to your question:

Harris further admitted to being an unlawful user of, and addicted to, methamphetamine.

Only a methead would believe that snitching on himself would grant him a reduced sentence.

walter white cooked 100 lbs a week in gus' super lab

Because it's part of the plea agreement. Otherwise he'd enter an Alford plea. This happens in every case.

[1 Points] None:

At that level apart from some sort of plea agreement, what is the difference?

It is like in the movie heat where the cop is explaining why they killed all the guards, they killed one, punishment is the same for 1 as it is 5 so better off not leaving any living witnesses.

If they can get time off for admitting to previous crimes then why would you not do it?

[1 Points] None:

Why don't they ever ship this stuff via freight? Hiding it in an oven and then having it delivered to someone seems much, much smarter than what they are doing.

I doubt the confession made him any worse off. if anything, better off. 18 lbs, especially when coupled with the fact it was mailed and the gun, means he's serving a mandatory minimum in federal prison. no parole. it's easy to sit there and BS the judge when there's a chance you won't get convicted, and even if you do, there's a chance you'll get paroled.

realistically, neither of those things are going to happen. it's pretty shitty when you think about it. dude's 45, likely a longtime meth user, probably doesn't take very good care of himself on top of that. 15 vs 25 years is literally the difference between dying in prison, and potentially being able to spend your last years free.

also lol'd hard at the prosecutor's name:

Jo E. Lawless

no way that's his real name. I just cant believe it
