Receiving incoming connections from the DoD?

My network monitoring tool on my computer has caught a few connections in the last couple weeks from an IP that is operated by the DoD Network Information Center. Is this normal traffic that everyone gets hit with, or should I be worried?

WHOIS Lookup:

Name: DODIIS
Handle: NET-11-0-0-0-1
Registration Date: 1/19/84
Range: 11.0.0.0-11.255.255.255
Org: DoD Network Information CenterOrg
Handle: DNIC
Address: 3990 E. Broad Street
City: Columbus
State/Province: OH
Postal Code: 43218
Country: United States

edit: Why is this being marked as FUD? I'm legitmately asking. Not that it will make a difference, but here's a screenshot from LittleSnitch: https://anonimage.net/view/NtPu9QA1j7

i used to get tons of government ip's when i used this old peerblock tool.. there was a whole list of gov't ip's to block... just block it. i wouldn't worry about it lol

At least it's not the DEA?

Fuck that has mangled asshole written all over it. Can you explain in layman’s terms what this is? Is it saying that something from that IP is attempting to initiate a connection with your computer? Or is it some connection that you are making and it’s going there? The first scenario is majorly fucked if that’s the case.

You ain't the first.

That IP in Columbus Ohio has nothing to do with the DoD, the street address in the DNS record is on East Broad St which is a strip mall. They put the DoD in their DNS record for some strange reason.

Probably a spoofed IP or some generic scans on large swaths of IPs (meaning: yours and others) for research purposes. The military isn't trying to hack you.
