What does the new Australian Security Legislation mean for Silk Road users?

Are there any more precautions that you should take now?

Anyone who doesn't know, basically the Government is using the ISIS threat as an excuse to past draconian laws that allow them:

EDIT: Brainfart. I meant to say darknet users in the title.

It means we're one step closer to that utopian country of the future where the government has absolute power to do whatever it wants to it's citizens with no oversight and no consequences.

As for us on DNM, I have to trust that the encryption provided by GPG and TOR is enough to hide me from online spies, and the stealth used by the vendors is enough to hide from customs. I'm not sure there's anything else security-wise we're not already doing...

I'm curious what more security-orientated people might suggest thought.

Oh, and on a personal note, for me, it means that emigration is looking increasingly more inviting.

Honestly, if your opsec is decent, I can't see how anything changes. Might be a little more pressure to use TAILS if you don't already, but really, unless someone can show otherwise, I'm comfortable with things being business as usual. Time may well make a fool of me, but I think we're generally fine.

The new laws mean you go from CRIMINAL CUNTS to TERRORIST CUNTS.

Oh and fuck off, we're full.

Silk Road means poor service vendors who have no incentive to use stealth for Australian customers because there's no escrow or multi-sig capability. If you order from SR your order will get intercepted because (like Cornettos did to someone I know) vendors will send a vacuum packed bag of speed with no stealth in it; nothing, not even paperwork, just a bag you can see through and is no doubt covered in residue the dogs can smell. It's just a miracle it didn't get stopped.

Australian customs aren't as catching 90+% of orders. They get a lot but that's because vendors either don't care and don't use stealth or they selectively scam you and say it never arrived.
