Super computer that can break pgp? Kind of a silly question

there's gotta be some insane super computer in a government underground lair that could break pgp in a reasonable time limit? Right? Not paranoid or anything Im watching this Netflix series and this guy broke into an encrypted file, I know, not the same thing but it got me thinking......

Don't worry. The time needed to break a RSA (which PGP is based on) encrypted message is greater than the age of the universe, even for modern computers.

Quantum Computing.

P=NP

Pgp = NP problem

Not solvable in reasonable amount of time

Call me cynical, but a far easier thing for a government to do is claim they've broken encryption and then just write whatever the hell they want to incriminate you for, and claim that's your decrypted message.

You want to argue it? "Decrypt your message and prove it..."

There must be some way you can defend against that without actually complying surely?

The tip of my penis probably could. It's broken through things that I never thought possible.

PGP with a 4096 bit key is uncrackable with any technology we currently have..

Not encryption hacking but people hacking is its vulnerability.

By making you give up your private key and password, say if you were using it on a compromised system, the game could be up

Encrypted files and pgp are on two different levels. Encryption can be really really shitty or really really good. There are various encryption methods that can be easily broken. Pgp is not one of them. With that being said having a strong password will slow down any cracking/brute force attempt. Pgp is supposibly uncrackable, but that leaves your computer where and how you use/store it ect. If your using it on just a normal O.S then better hope you don't get ratted/keylogged. There are vulnerabilitys to everything!

TDLR:Who knows how good their super computers are. With a billion dollar buget anything is possible.

Its pretty good privacy I guess.

pretty, pretty pretty, good!

probably not, I heard that PGP is pretty good.
