How would Britain leaving the EU affect customs and getting drugs through customs?

Seems to be a very popular topic in the news atm. I was wondering if anyone here knew how this would affect UK customs and getting drugs through customs?

Many Thanks

We would likely be like an EEA member like Norway. Use the same EU regs for trade, perhaps use EU regs as domestic legislation for ease. For example, 80% of DEFRA work is spent on EU regs. That might be an out argument if you ever read Defra's budget / year. EU could charge us out of our arse for access to their market. I suspect package checks would be the same or actually less (no intra-EU funding). Norway has Australia type customs as far as EU is concerned. All the Nordics have severe phytosanitary regulations, unique flora, fauna and lucrative sports hunting / fishing.

Anyone else able to chip in?

Doubt it will affect anything.

I don't agree it wouldn't affect. I mean, there's a reason why, being from EU, I order from EU and EU only, and that reason is that unless the envelope has "Drugs" written on it, the order will never stop on customs. Although UK leaving the Union will not affect UK - UK orders, outside orders (from EU, for example) will probably have more control. Just a thought, though, not sure about this at all!

I don't think it'll make a difference, if they thought it was illegal it would get stopped whether we're part of the EU or not.
