Has anyone ever been arrested for purchases from a dark net market?

My Apologies if this has been answered somwhere. I did a search and only came up with a man from Massachusetts who purchased a firearm and suppressor from (I believe) someone he messaged.

So the question specifically is: has anyone ever been arrested for making a drug purchase from an existing dark net market?

If so, were they taking the usual precautions (PGP, etc)? Or not enough precautions?

I haven't been doing this long myself but I use Tails installed with an encrypted persistent volume with a reasonably secure password (12 characters with upper-case, lower-case, numeric, and symbols).

I know someone else who uses Windows only but with a Tor browser since SR1 and he has yet to be arrested. He says I'm too cautious, that only vendors need to take it to the lengths I do but hey, I've always been a little paranoid.. :)

Thanks in advance for any info!

No, this is like a LARP but with drugs and crime, non of this is real... unless you ate the red pill.

Depends on your definition of 'existing' (is Agora non-existent during the 'hiatus'?) but you can find info on arrested buyers here:

UK resident here. Have been arrestead, all charges dropped. Can not go into details for obvious reasons. PGP was used and laptop encrytped. This was a MUST as the PC was taken and sent of for evidence. It came back still encrypted but with the hard drive formatted.

EDIT: Wanting to help with some of your questions without jepording my anonimty. So hopefully you can read between the lines.

It WASNT a lack of precausion on my behalf.

If an arrest happens you must remain cool and use your right to "You do not have to say anything". Let them do the work. Aslong as you have taken the necassery steps you will be fine

I would just note that on that Gwern table, there were very few "false" binary toggles on the "international" column for within the USA. The vast majority were XanaxKing and his compromised account.

You're far more likely to get collared using it IRL than from the transaction, unless you're ordering large amounts.

YES

It's interesting how many buyers are on there. I wonder if they were all completely careless with OpSec?! Besides the ones caught through a flipped vendor.

For personal drug usage? No, not unless if LE went undercover selling drugs via DNM. Then yes... but DEA/LE don't have the money and the resources to take down small time buyer - this is your leverage and opportunity.

Ok, a 12 digit password is not secure, regardless of upper/lower case numbers or special characters. The most important thing by far is the length of the password, not that other stuff. Security really begins with maybe 16 characters, and if you are serious about a strong password you'll be looking at 30-40 characters or more.

Check out diceware.com, it's really interesting and even fascinating when it comes to formulating secure passwords that are also halfway easy to remember.

How do I do this dark market?
