Its coming, drug auctions on openbazaar

Hey everyone, Sam Patterson here, I help out on the OpenBazaar project. Great to see folks are excited about this.

Let me clear up a few things:

OpenBazaar is a fork of Dark Market. Amir and the unsystem folks weren't continuing development of Dark Market, so Brian Hoffman forked it and development continues. The Dark Markets folks have pointed people towards OpenBazaar, and even set up a portion of their forums for us to use, they support the project.

Auctions and other nifty ideas have been proposed, but it's not certain they will be incorporated, at least not for some time. The biggest hurdle at this point isn't good ideas, lots of smart people are contributing those, but development. A few folks are contributing here and there, but Brian Hoffman is doing the bulk of the work.

This is not a trivial project, and needs a larger development team. The proof of concept Dark Market was awesome, but it wasn't anywhere near being usable, especially at scale. Creating a decentralized market means the creation of a web of trust for reputation, incorporating multisig and arbitration, Ricardian contracts, searching across a distributed system, and all kinds of difficult problems. One or two people can't really do it all, so we need help.

If you want to contribute, visit the Github page to find out more. You can always help with funding, but at this point submitting pull requests is more valuable to us!

Edit: Forgot to mention that you can usually find us on IRC on freenode at #openbazaar, stop in and ask us any questions you might have.

Edit 2: Thanks to a great suggestion from /u/secret_bitcoin_login, we are going to be creating incentives for development through the Tip4Commit platform, where users receive 1% of the total bounty for their commits.

Our goal to start is getting a 1.0BTC bounty. The link to donate is here: tip4commit.com/projects/728

Thanks for everyone's help!
