BitBall Shutting Down

I have decided to shutdown BitBall. The original plan was for it was to make a lot of money and donate that money to TOR. Soon after I launched , Tor got more funding from various sources and didn't need donations. The bigger problem though is that Bitball wasn't making any money. Every drawing I needed to sell 100 tickets just to break even and I was only averaging 90 -100 tickets per drawing.

I know a lot of people said it need to be run differently to make more money, but I simply don't have the time it would take to run it effectively.

Grams will donate the current Jackpot of 36 bitcoins. I am looking for suggestions for the donation. So far my first choice is the new Darknet Avengers Forum. I think will proper funding that site can really make a difference on the darknet.

If you have other ideas please post them here and I will take them in to consideration before making the final donations. I also might break it up to donate to 2 different sites/ charities.

as always stay safe,
GramsAdmin

Donation idea - TheEconomist research fund for the study of hydrocodones effects on TheEconomist over a span of his lifetime. It's for science. 36 bitcoins will fund the study for 3 weeks.

RiseUp! is always struggling and they're super-rad and have tons of great guides on their site, and of course provide many very valuable services for cypherpunks, DNM users and activists: https://help.riseup.net/en/donate - they take bitcoin directly. They have no "real" sponsors and are constantly trying to keep their servers online.

Of course the Electronic Frontier Foundation is always a great possibility, too, and they do tons of great work: https://supporters.eff.org/donate - they were really the ones that put Tor on the map, way back when.

https://oniontip.com/ is a really rad project that has, by all accounts, done a great job of distributing bitcoin tips to people who operate Tor nodes, balancing the tip amounts based on how much help a particular node offers to the network. This might be a really excellent way to benefit the people that make Tor happen, and not just the Tor Project organization itself.

There's others, potentially, but they might be a little less relevant - the Free Software Foundation, Software in the Public Interest, Tip4Commit (for Bitcoin), MAPS, NORML, etc...

Donating to the avengers is a great idea!

Without TOR none of this would be possible so I submit them as the donation recipients.

Avengers is a great idea. Or TheEconomist project.

We could restart Ross's book club.

I hope you're still taking suggestions.

Erowid would be an excellent choice. Their huge collection of data, stats, and trip reports is what keeps the majority of us safe when wanting to try out new substances.

EFF would be another great choice, as they are the ones trying to defend our internet rights against the corporations/governments trying to censor our right to free speech. The most current thing is trying to stop the FCC from forcing manufacturers to lock down commercial routers, which would prevent end users from modifying the firmware with FOSS solutions.

My last suggestion would be Freedom of the Press, who expose corruption and mismanagement within government systems.

Please go with your gut. That subreddit could do amazing things indeed. Imagine looking at all the top vendor's products, side by side. Competition would be encouraged. Safety would be promoted. And the necessary buyer bias, prices would drop!

If you have no rush to get rid of it why not slowly donate it as you see fit. Be it funding up and coming projects or even random contests. That could easily be 75 donations of about $100. May not be the biggest donations but still beneficial.
