TAILS - An Idea

I don't usually post on Reddit, it's against my OPSEC but I have recently been thinking about TAILS and wanted to float an idea that I cannot get rid of. I am not a developer or coder but I use TAILS avidly and understand PGP, encryption etc.

Is it possible to create a version of TAILS for Smartphones? OBVIOUSLY this would not be the main OS, you would use an OTG cable (for Android anyway). You would disconnect all GPS and mobile functionality, just a nice mobile browser and email client with PGP integration that only connects to WIFI and routes everything through TOR that can be stored on an external USB device and booted in to on the Smartphone.

Personally I would love this. I'd make sure the USB device is small (either a small USB stick or micro-SD card) and then it can just be yanked and swallowed/shoved up your bum if your hinges are coming off.

Thoughts?

Problem with phones and operating systems is that their architecture is fundamentally different, and I don't think any phones out nowadays could even run Tails.

The closet thing out there is the Guardian Rom, which isn't under active development any more. It might be possible to run Tails in a VM on a high end phone, but I don't know that that's been tried yet. It's pretty hard to make phones secure, they are designed to be tracking communications devices, that's their sole purpose! It's probably possible though. The best thread I've seen on the topic is this one by the Tor guys, and even that's not perfect.

Tails developers are working on a mobile OS. http://redmine.replicant.us/boards/33/topics/3969

Someone get on this. I still carry microSD cards with my music on them, I'd love to have TAILS in my pocket
