Is USPS First Class really that frowned upon?

Anytime i order, i always select the priority(w/ tracking) option. A lot of times there isn't any other option at all. But we all know that some DN packs don't go out priority or express. So do vendors and buyers have the same rates of success with first class? Assuming that stealth is still good and the vendor isn't an idiot, First class should work fine right? The only thing i question is the lack of tracking for first class. If i go buy a stamp and envelops with cash and package something then ship it in regular letter-sized envelope with a stamp in the right upper corner and it doesn't weigh too much or look/smell funny then there should be absolutely no problem, right? Except that most vendors prefer priority because it has tracking.

TLDR, But is it a big deal to use First class(no tracking) as opposed to Priority(w/ track)? Or is there a way to track First Class, but still use regular stamps and envelops bought with cash?

Not true, if you have enough postage stamps for FC then you can affix a tracking label400 and track it.

Except that most vendors prefer priority because it has tracking.

They prefer it because it's faster so their customers don't bitch about time and they can release their funds IF it's tied in escrow.

also remember that people can claim they never received item and vendor has no recourse other than the words of the buyer.. open to buyer scamming. tracking gives them leverage.

You used to get charged extra to track First Class. just a couple weeks ago, I was at the post office, and told that tracking is NOW INCLUDED with First class parcels/packages (used to be around $1). I have subsequently verified this online. in order to be considered a parcel/package, it has to be greater than 3/4 in or rigid (ie throw a couple sheets of cardboard in there). you can use the same tracking labels you use for tracking priorty.

oh, and as another bonus, unlike most first class mail, parcels/packages are NON MACHINEABLE. that was always my biggest worry with first class, getting torn open by the sorting machine.

this is awesome as far as vendor opsec goes, because there's a gorillion and a half ways to make up the ~$2 postage necessary for first class tracked. using anything less than the $5.75 or $5 stamps (in conjunction with other smaller valued stamps) on the priorty mail packs looks awkward as fuck, plus 90% of vendors use exclusively flat rate boxes.

with first class parcel w/ tracking, there are ENDLESS options when it comes to mailers, envelopes, small boxes, etc.

I would reccommend that any vendor intent on using first class READ THE FUCK OUT OF FIRST CLASS GUIDELINES on the usps site. it's a hell of a lot less straightforward than using flat rate, and it'd be easy to fuck up the postage. also, don't just affix a whole bunch of forever stamps, looks awful

I have a first-class pack on its way with tracking(non-dnm). I like plain envelopes every now and then for small amounts, I feel they blend in with MY mail better.
