Remember that "friend"? Currently being blackmailed.

Long story short as I don't want to talk too much about this.

Friend got caught with some shit I gave him and wants me to take a rap for him. I refuse. He gets pissed off and threatens to tell the po-po all about my DNM activity.

Currently have some BTC in a wallet that's enough for me to not want that frozen.

If my friend hypes up the story enough, will/can they get me for possible slip-ups during past orders or freeze BTC in wallets I own?

I presume the answer is no but I really want to be safe. Also, my laptop is encrypted but do they have the right to take it/try to access what's on it, as well as unencrypted email, etc.?

I guess my main question is; if my friend tells them about DNM activity, should I be worried or is his credibility shot?

Clean your house, don't have anything illegal in it. Nuke your computer with DBAN and install whatever flavor of linux you have always wanted to try on it. Make sure to enable full disk encryption during the installation process. If you have an android phone this would be a good time to try out CyanogenMod, don't bother backing up your phone before installing it, you want to have a fresh start. I don't know much about iphones but I'm sure you can think of a reasonable explanation for why you had to do a factory reset.

Don't bother trying to individually delete all of the traces you have left, stuff gets buried in obscure logfiles and backups and if you miss any of it you can be charged with destroying evidence. Once you are squeaky clean tell your former friend to go fuck himself. Consider your address burnt for all of time and try to have better choice of friends in the future.

Your "friend" sounds like a scum of the earth cocksucking piece of shit. Go DPR style and put out a hit on him.

As a local narcotics officer I can tell you that if your buddy is talking, the next step is to get him to help catch you slipping up in return for working off some charges. They'll probably have him message you, call/text and even meet face-to-face with a wire on.

If meeting with this person is unavoidable, don't try to deny anything just don't talk at all, stare at the guy and just shake your head. Even denial is incriminating.

When CIs have body wires on we usually get them to wear two layers of clothing, such as an undershirt and collared button shirt. If not a body wire we also utilize prop devices such as car keys (the keyless entry remote) for recording and if we absolutely cannot use our own hardware and the CI has a smartphone we can ask them to use their phone's voice recording software.

Clean up, move all your coins to an electrum wallet and secure the seed. Lay low for a bit. If they had anything on you, they'd already be knocking on the door, right now they're trying to find an angle.

In this situation, you should scare the living shit out of your "friend". Just so he, and everyone else knows to never fuck with Sarah_Palin's_Dick ever again. Do not allow yourself to become a victim. Become proactive

Interpret that how you will. I'm not going to lay out how to commit a possible kidnapping on reddit.

Being a rat is not okay. Ratting on your friends is especially not okay.

I would assume that your asshole "friend" needs to produce some kind of evidence against you to constitute a charge. You're somewhat right about his credibility being shot if authorities got him for possession of drugs. I would still be careful; do you use Tails? Just be ready to snap that USB if you're expecting a knock on your door from LE. In the meantime, I would withdraw my BTC just to be on the safe side if you're worried about losing them, at least until this situation with your "friend" dies down.

This post leaves a lot of questions unanswered, of which the answer to your question can be found.

-Type and amount of narcotic -Number of previous orders (the actual number doesn't really matter, its the principle of 'is your name in the hands of the general drug-buying public in your area) -Method in which coins were purchased, and if they were tumbled -Area in which you live; rural or urban as well as police presence and if they are tangled up with more important issues

The answers to these questions would help give a more legitimate answer from the community, however it must be understood that each and every situation is different.

will/can they... freeze BTC in wallets I own?

Simple answer, no. Complicated answer, yes. They can't unless there is a court order allowing them to do so.

Unless they physically gain control of the private key for that wallet address, there's absolutely nothing they can do to your coins. However, if the court orders those coins be seized, you will be compelled to hand over the private key and give them control of that wallet.

You can add another level of security and protection by password protecting your wallet so the coins can't be spent without the password. Creating a paper wallet with a fresh key pair for those funds and putting it somewhere safe is another thing you could think about.

Were you the one with the scale? Or I guess he got caught with your scale or whatever? Wow, fuck. Sorry this is happening to you. Just shows you can't trust anyone and honestly we should never tell a soul what we are doing here. I guess I have a more jaded view of things, but I don't trust anyone really. I always assume that someone will fuck me over when they need to or when it suits them. I've never told a soul IRL about my activities here, that I order, or even I do any drug whatsoever. The upside is I have no worries about a motherfucker doing this shit to me. The downside is I have very little real relationships with anyone IRL. But this just confirms to me that people can be fucking bastards.

So to your main question, I think it depends. If you are a law abiding (by that I mean never been caught doing anything beyond a minor traffic citation), tax paying, pillar of the community type (and it wouldn't hurt to be a little older), it'll go nowhere more than likely. If the local cops have a hard on for you, then they may take this information a bit seriously and try to use it against you in some way. I don't know how far they could take this information alone - they have a guy who has committed various drug related crimes, not like he's going to be considered the most trustworthy of people. But if you are someone of interest to local LE, they may put some eyes on you maybe (of course, if you are just a personal user, probably not, but if you are a dealer, then perhaps). Cops do believe criminals who snitch though sometimes. They use them at trials all the time. So I wouldn't necessarily make the assumption that b/c he got caught that the cops won't take what he says seriously. They might. That's how cops bust up rings - they bust a little guy and move up the chain with snitches.

How would you take the rap for him? Like come forward and say all that shit was actually your shit?? Not knowing any more info about you, its hard to tell but I'd lean towards this going nowhere. The one exception might be is if you are somehow on LE's radar or have had criminal problems in the past and you are juicier target than your friend, you will definitely want to take the precautions. Fucking asshole friend.
