Next-gen tumbling: Mycelium announces the debut of their working CoinShuffle implementation! No more scams, no more trusting that a tumbler is honest, or free from hacking - just exceptionally effective bitcoin privacy!

Our CoinShuffle implementation is finally working! >https://live.blockcypher.com/btc-testnet/tx/fe68ebbbec06746a26d4038b500b3b9450b91f9e5c0935304b18fe13ec3eccbd/

Very, very big and exciting news. This is the bitcoin privacy solution that we've all been waiting for (probably). More info about CoinShuffle can be found at http://crypsys.mmci.uni-saarland.de/projects/CoinShuffle/

It's my hope that this development effort can also help with many more implementations of this incredible and important technology in the future - I assume that this may be the relevant code: https://github.com/DanielKrawisz/Shufflepuff - also of interest may be https://github.com/ecrypto/shuffle which seems to be the only other implementation on GitHub at the moment. This is truly a game-changer for Bitcoin! Now we just need to wait for it to be implemented outside of untrustworthy mobile platforms...

Large vendors be like "Everyday I'm shufflin'"

And no need to pay 2% fee to a tumbler anymore. :)

IMO, here's the thing: it works - for now. But don't think for a second these forensic blockchain analysis companies won't try (and succeed) in de-anonymizing these anonymizing schemes. Bitcoin fundamentally has an anonymity problem, which fucks up fungibility. No amount of shuffling, coinjoins, or tumbling can change this fact. I'm not saying Bitcoin is doomed, but its fungibility problem is REAL

Proof-of-concept Implementation

As a proof of concept, we have re-used Dissent code to implement a prototype of CoinShuffle.

WARNING: The implementation is not at all developed with security in mind. It has been written purely to evaluate the feasibility and performance of CoinShuffle and is INSECURE. DO NOT USE THIS WITH YOUR COINS.

A careful, full implementation is required before CoinShuffle can be used in practice. Still, you can download our prototype if you are interested.

So they have the tech working but it's not ready for use yet. Any ETA on this?

Does anyone know why blockchain themselves neutered their tumbler before discontinuing it entirely?
