I'm a junky planning to get clean starting tomorrow and need your advise and expertise, please!

I'm a junky who's been using mostly non-stop, every day, all day (except for sleep) for ~ the past 6 months. Any breaks I've taken were brief, for no more than 6 days, and always with the help of Suboxone (a miracle drug, but a great excuse to bridge the time to the next bag). I want to kick starting tomorrow or Tuesday.

I have 1/2 gram of very potent junk left, a pile of Suboxone strips, and a bunch of Flexeril (Cyclobenzaprine) (not sure if that will help at all) but I have nothing else - no benzos, nothing. I'm looking for and needing as much advise as I can get from you fine folks. My goal is to be as good as I can expect to be on Xmas day. The first 3 days are the hardest, physically, and I'm just looking for any advice that people might have that maybe I've never considered, in light of these facts, in light of what I do and don't have available to me.

And regarding buying benzos or anything else on the markets to help me through this, I have no time to go acquire some BTC, find a vendor, place an order, wait for processing, wait for shipping, cross my fingers and wait for arrival - and all during the peak of the holiday season. I'm left with myself, a 1/2g heroin, a pile of Suboxone, and a grocery store and CVS right down the street.

Right now, my plan (as it stands at this moment) is to take my last dose tonight, (brace yourselves for this one) flush the rest of the junk, and start my Suboxone tomorrow morning when it's time (and I know how it works I've gotten quite good at that part). My god I'm nervous just typing this.

So I'm all ears! Any tips, advice, recommendations?

Thank you - really. Any advise would be hugely appreciated! THANK YOU!!

Go to CVS and buy some loperamide to help with diarrhea. If possible get some weed and/or benzos. For me personally, withdrawals were never that bad (relatively speaking) if I was super high and barred out. Might want to look into Kratom or PST as well.

Hi,

I've been clean on and off for the past two and a half years. Mostly clean, but I've had a couple of one-day relapses. Before that, I was clean for almost a year and went into a long-term relapse that lasted over a year.

I would say, do your bag ASAP. Enjoy the fuck out of it. One of the worst parts about being clean is knowing that you'll never feel that way again. I think doing something like throwing smack away is a really bad option because you'll think about it over and over.

Personally, I don't think you need the Flexeril. Subs can be a lifesaver. Currently, I take 1/8th of a 2mg strip a day because of my last relapse a few months ago. Before that, I was 100% clean of suboxone, I'll probably stop my current dosage in a couple weeks and I don't expect to feel a thing.

What most people can't understand is that it takes very little suboxone to maintain and not feel sick. However, there's a big mind game that makes you think that you need more. Every little crimp or bodyache you will blame on withdrawal.

Your first clean day, take a whole strip. You will feel a little shitty that day but you'll feel that regardless of how many you take. Trust me, I've taken three strips on that day and didn't feel any different. The second day take a half and then keep cutting your dosage in half every day until you get to 1/8 of an 8 mg strip. It used to take me at least 3-4 bags to get high, I was a heavy user. I always had a lot of disposable income, so I had the money to really go hard. Even with that habit, 1/8 strip per day kept me feeling fine.

Keep doing that for 2-3 months. Then, if you can't get 2mg strips, start taking 1/8 every other day. If you can get 2mg, move to 1/4 strip of those every day for about 2 weeks, and then 1/8 strip. You will not feel a thing when you lower your dosage because of the long half life. Sooner or later, after a month or two, let yourself run out. You will feel very little to no withdrawal. I think a lot of the reports of people having trouble coming off of suboxone are either done by people that didn't taper properly, or it was mental.

All of this sounds all well and good, but the mind games are what really get to you. I still think of heroin every single day. When I'm bored I think of how nice it would be to be high and playing video games. You have to really, really want to do it. All the pain from withdrawal is minor compared to what your own mind can make you do. You'll start to feel aches that aren't there. I forgot what I was supposed to feel like before I started the dope so I didn't know what normal was. Not to mention that I was a lot younger when I started, so the simple old man bodyaches and lack of energy I attributed to withdrawal. Don't let that get you, I think that's what kills most people.

Keep your head up and try to exercise as much as you can. That will give you energy. You shouldn't have too much trouble sleeping with the subs with the exception of the first couple of days. The flexeril might help, but I tried ambian and xanax to sleep through withdrawal and it never helped. The mild sleeplessness and occasional hot flashes for the first couple days should be the only withdrawal symptoms you encounter with the suboxone.

Good luck! If you need anything let me know...

I JUST WANNA SAY YOU PEOPLE ARE AWESOME. LOOK AT THESE RESPONSES. THANK YOU EVERYONE. I'M ALREADY FEELING MORE CONFIDENT AND EVEN EXCITED.

[4 Points] FrozenMCVegetableCok:

Be careful with the Flexeril. They can actually cause muscle spasms sometimes even though they're a muscle relaxer. Last thing you need is RLS and spasms elsewhere together.

The suggestion to get loperamide (Immodium) is a solid one. I've never been into opiates but I've had to babysit a few friends who were kicking the habit. They all said the stomach issues were one of the larger hurdles to staying sober long enough to even go through the rest of the withdraw without dosing.

[5 Points] None:

pretty much everything /u/bobbiggs69 said, really.

if its an option get some weed. even if you don't smoke generally. I know so many heroin addicts who quit smoking weed, then they get stoned while wd'ing and realize how great it is for literally any drug withdrawal.

but like some others said, the acute withdrawal is bearable and you sound like youll beat that no problem, its the PAWS that'll get ya. going to meetings and stuff can help with that, but honestly you're going to need to change some aspects of your life around if you want to succeed. continuing to hang around people getting high is kinda dooming yourself. so is long periods with nothing to do, so try to keep yourself busy. I havent smoked any hard stimulants in about a week (meth/crack) after using daily for a couple years, and have kinda realized that I'm gonna need to find something else to occupy my time. I'd imagine you are/will be in the same boat

also recognize that you will see literally ANYTHING as a beacon to keep using right when you quit. a funny street sign, something that looks like dope, some back pain, etc. you'll probably dream about the drugs too, I know I do

[4 Points] crenshaw11:

Good luck, my friend. Some of us will never make it out.

[5 Points] rabbit_hole_diver:

step number 1 is dont even bother trying to truly get clean if you 100% sincerely dont mean it. if youre just trying to shape up because of xmas you are wasting your time.

if you arent being honest with yourself you wont last long. i dont mean to sound like a debbie downer but ive walked the path for many years and after many failed attempts it took my own will to get me through. not other meds or tricks and techniques.

i want you to succeed because life sucks when youre living under that storm cloud of opiate dependancy. its the greatest drug in the world. i love it almost more than life itself but the cost is your soul.

one glaring weakness in the cold turkey method is that it doesnt break the mental habit of using. the routine, lifestyle, the people you hang out with. its those things that will bring you back in. thats why when the methadone program is used properly, you stay on for 1 year to break the mental aspects of the addiction. it does work but only if YOU make it work.

goddamn wrote a book. i have lots of experience with kicking dope/methadone/subs. pm if you or anyone needs advice or want to talk.

[2 Points] need2getclean:

Oh one more thing, I'm not looking to taper off over the next few days. I know that would be the best thing, but I'd like to just make a clean break tomorrow or Tuesday. Tapering is a battle of will power that I don't have right now.

[2 Points] i_quit:

Kicked a 7 year habit and have been clean for almost 20. Check in to a 5 day detox at the very least. If you're free on the street, you're not going to last. Do it cold turkey and deal with the misery in a hospital. That's if you're serious about it.

Stay clean!

[1 Points] an_illegal_smile:

If you can't get benzos, can you get weed? It would at least help mitigate some of the symptoms.

It sounds like you've been psyching yourself up to try to kick and you've decided it's now or never. Don't think that way. Try your best this time, but if it doesn't stick, get your ass to a medical professional and try again. Keep trying. Detox the right way. The desire to get clean is what you need, and you have it -- keep with it, whether this attempt works or not. Don't set yourself up to fail just so you can say "Well, I tried to kick, but everything was against me" and then dive face-first into that baggie of horse.

Good luck, man. You can do it! Here is to 2016 being a fresh start.

[1 Points] drimilr:

With the pile of suboxone it shouldn't be an issue. A pile sounds like enough to prevent withdrawals and then do a quick taper for the subs. Maybe some lope after you're done with the subs if necessary.

The flexeril can be flushed. It does nothing except make you feel like a glob of gum.

[1 Points] need2getclean:

Everyone one other question about this. The physical withdrawal symptoms, even with Suboxone, sucks, yes. The first 24 hours especially but they're tolerable. Physically, with the subs, its all tolerable actually. But where I really struggle is with the depression and total lack of energy and motivation, that's intense and deep and it lasts several days. Any advise on that???

[1 Points] None:

Honestly I know it sounds corny but check out some self help groups like AA or NA. I'm not saying you need to get totally involved but they make it easier in the beginning because you can meet people going through the same stuff you're going through and you can make friends who aren't getting fucked up because if you keep hanging around the same people you'll relapse trust me.

[1 Points] noonehear:

Eat 500+ug of LSD. Also kratom when you start feeling ill. Suboxone will just get you hooked on suboxone... so only use that if you have to. It's not like your withdrawing from benzos which can kill you. H will just make you dopesick.

[1 Points] BrlingtonCOATfactory:

Havent read any other comments so im sure im repeating a few people. Go as low and slow with the subs as possible. That should be obvious.

The loperamide works decent for some people, not much for others, but dont dismiss it. Anywhere from 8-20mg made a noticable difference with helping certain symptoms. Good look my friend, the pain is worth it.

Edit: many many repeated doses of thc concetrates are also recommended, unless of course you dont do that sort of thing

Edit2: the cyclobenzeprine will help at night with rls, one of the worst paws symptoms

i give you all my prayers. good luck.

[1 Points] None:

UK or US? try /r/opiates and look in the sidebar for a mega list of what to do in WD, loperamide is said to relieve 50% of the wd symptoms because it binds to opioid receptor.

[1 Points] eleusis211:

Check yourself into detox. The odds of you staying clean through the first week if you have a heavy opioid habit are very slim. Not impossible, but not high enough to be worth trying.

[1 Points] fantasticnameuser:

Right now, my plan (as it stands at this moment) is to take my last dose tonight

Why? Sure, "a great nod to end on" sounds like a good idea, but don't fool yourself. As soon as it's over, it's "oh just another one, then I'm flushing this shit", and before you know you've binged like you've never binged before on a half gram of H, and now you're hooked worse than you were BEFORE you wanted to quit. Just flush it now, you're doing yourself a huge favor

I'm a recovered addict (not opiates) and have been through it all a few times. I've thought the exact same thing as you, and while you might not be me, why take the chance?

[1 Points] Throwaw1776:

Kratom and PST, poppy seed tea, are just other opiates, they will ease wd in the second way vics, percs, or more dope would. I'm a junkie due to 5yrs PST use. When u stopped drinking the tea of 8lbs of seeds a day, I needed at least 2 bundles not to be sick every day. Don't use tea if u wanna get clean. Lope is great. Small doses will keep you from getting too dehydrated from sitting nonstop. High doses, 20mg or more, will actually curb other symptoms and help you sleep a little. Take it easy on the lope though, it can bind you up bad. Good luck! I'll keep an eye on this thread in case I can offer any other help. 6mo isn't as bad as years of use. Get clean while you can.

[1 Points] sillysally11:

Idk why so many ppl recommend weed for WDs. For me, who had a very light addiction, weed did absolutely nothing, even if I smoked it like crazy, doing bowl after bowl after bowl. It might help for the first couple hrs of WD, but by day 2, I don't evem feel it anymore.

I don't think there is an easy way to come off, aside from methadone, which is a long road, but absolutely painless. Same goes for suboxone, but Idk how the dosing goes with that, if you had enough, you could quit with subs, and have it go very smoothly.

Benzos work really well for opiate WDs, about 1million times better than weed does. Try to get some benzos if you can. Good luck, it won't be easy.

Since you only have six months of daily use, you might be alright doing it your way. I assume you've been sniffing and not shooting, as it seems like your life hasn't gone to complete shit but you're ready to quit after 6 months. If this is the case, you have a much better chance of getting out relatively unscathed. Best of luck to you in doing so. I will say the following, however:

If your attempt fails, go find a doctor who is knowledgeable in addiction and has a fair but firm attitude towards his/her patients. Go on Suboxone maintenance -> taper regimen, with a doctor who knows what they're doing and gives a shit. Not a doctor who scripts you 90 8mg/2mg strips each month in exchange for the $130 fee ($300 the first visit, because, why not?).

If you have a doctor who will sit down with you and discus a schedule to taper off--as well as the proper starting dose (should be just at "comfortable")--then you will be fine as long as the doctor is willing to push back when you try to resist a dosage reduction. Suboxone is a kind of long-haul strategy, where the titration of dosage is very important if you want to kick in seamless and painless way. It requires honesty and integrity from both the doctor and the patient.

Keep in mind that it will not fix all your problems. You may still want to get high, but you won't need to get high to go to work, get out of bed, have a life, etc. The urge to want to get high will need to be replaced with other interests, desires, habits.

I did a very smooth Suboxone taper from daily dosage of 12mg to about 0.25mg, then 0.25mg every other day, every three days, and finally none at all.

[1 Points] morebeansplease:

The statistics point to those who get help as staying sober longer, you are not alone, reach out if it's not working, it's OK to get help.

How much dope do you use a day?

[1 Points] Ajax1419:

The biggest thing is separating yourself from people who are still using. You're going to have to change your friend group, because if they're using it's going to put too much pressure on you to slip back into bad habits. You'll feel like 'I can handle it this time' and then when you can't you're right back at square one. It's going to suck, but you can do it. It is possible, it's just shitty. Good luck man, I have faith in you.

[1 Points] dandydaniels:

i'm sure there are some rapid suboxone detox charts around the web.. but i'd probably leave yourself a good sized piece for xmas eve & when you need to be around family. JUST enough to get you able to smile and not be visibly sweating.
Or do what I did. Pop a pill of naltrexone, take like 12 klonopin, and knock yourself out while you rapid detox overnight. One night, it's all over.

[1 Points] Lucid_Enemy:

90 days clean my withdrawal was done in jail but every other time when I couldn't find Imodium helped the most lopermide is a opiate that doesn't cross the blood brain barrier (doesn't get you high) it however will bind to opiate receptors in your stomach/gut fixing the stomach/bathroom issues as well as malice (feeling slow) its a miricle look online for the Thomas recipe opiate withdrawal... It'll help you greatly

Hi folks. Me again. Day 3 now. Day 1 was HELL. Sucked SO bad. I want to thank everyone for their input, advice, help, warnings, all of it. I'm not trying to just kick for the holiday. I want to go into 2016 clean, and keep it that way. I've been addicted to opiates for many years, heroin exclusively for the last 6-8 months. I need this to end. Its only day 3, and I'm still struggling, but every day will be better than the last.

Thank you, everyone. Truly. And happy holidays.
