MDMA Acetone Wash

I have been looking into washing powders such as MDMA, Amphetamine, etc. to see how the washed product compares to the original product.

I decided to do an acetone wash on MDMA. This MDMA is sourced from [DELETED]. Common dose given out was [DELETED]. All images are under the same light source, and a US quarter is used as a reference scale. For those wondering how to strip EXIF data, just screenshot the original picture and save it as a new PNG file from paint or a similar application. If you just save the original JPEG as a PNG, some data is retained in the PNG EXIF such as the phone manufacturer.

To begin, 1.000g +/-5mg of MDMA crystal was weighed and laid it out on a plate as seen in image 1. The powder was then crushed by placing a bill over the powder and running a plastic card over the bill (pestle and mortar is preferred). Post-crushed, unwashed powder is shown in image 2. The crushed powder was then moved to a coffee filter, as shown in image 3.

For those unfamiliar with acetone wash, generally acetone is poured over the powder that you want to clean: in this case MDMA. The impurities are dissolved and pass through the filter; the washed MDMA is left behind. The largest concern with an acetone wash is that acetone usually contains some water (in the range of 5% by volume), which will dissolve the MDMA/Amphetamine/etc. Thus anhydrous (no water content) acetone is desired. This is difficult to purchase, thankfully there is a simple way to turn acetone bought from a hardware store into anhydrous acetone. Bake 30-50 g of Epsom salts on tin foil in the oven at the hottest temperature it will go for 90+ minutes. Then place acetone (4-6 oz) in a sealable glass container with the Epsom salt ash and place the sealed glass container in the freezer for 2+ hours. The Epsom salt ash absorbs any water in the acetone, leaving it anhydrous. It is important to use a glass container because acetone dissolves plastic.

Back to the MDMA wash. Approx. 4oz of anhydrous acetone was poured over the MDMA crystal slowly over the course of one minute. The washed MDMA powder is shown in images 4 and 5, taken one and five minutes after washing, respectively. The MDMA as seen in image 5 was left under a reading lamp for approx. 3 hours to let the acetone completely evaporate from the powder. Dried and broken-up MDMA powder can be seen in image 6. The MDMA was re-crushed using the bill and card method (image 7) described above to provide a similar powder consistency as the original, un-washed powder for a before and after comparison. The before and after shots of the MDMA powder can be seen in image 8.

There is a noticeable change in color from a light tan to a white powder. Also noticeable was the lack of smell from the white powder. The initial powder had a distinct black liquorice smell and the white post-wash powder was almost odourless. I lost the tare on image 9, however the metal bowl weighs 2.669 g, putting the final yield at 0.708 g AKA 71%. Take the yield as you will, it shouldn't affect anyone debating purchasing from [DELETED]. [DELETED]. If we assume 10mg of the powder is lost with each transfer (5 transfers total), that pushes the yield up to 75% (708/950).

I haven't tried the washed powder; it will be tested next weekend for Halloween. I expect it to be very potent.

MDMA HCl is slightly soluble in anhydrous acetone so you're very likely just wasting product. 100 ml of acetone is way too much to be washing 1 gram with. you should have used no more than 5 ml and it should have been ice cold as well. if you want to wash MDMA HCl of potential impurities use diethyl ether, then freebase and wash with water.

also, MDMA HCl that is pure is considered 100% MDMA HCl, not 84%. other salts of MDMA are also considered 100% pure even though the molar mass of the compound changes. you wouldn't consider table salt to only be 50% pure because it's only 50% sodium, right?

Most of the losses will be "mechanical" from the transfers. For a small amount like 1g, mechanical losses are important. They are more or less a constant, so you would lose 100mg whether you started with 1g or 10g. But 100mg is a 10% loss from 1g, but only a 1% loss from 10g.

Some will be stuck to containers and filters. If you evaporate down the acetone and eat some of the dark, dry mess which results, you will find that it has some MDMA in it, and some safrole (the main impurity).

Safrole is the main constituent of sassafras oil (90%), and its used as a flavor in things like root beer. Its the colour and smell in MDMA, and harmless.

Pure MDMA is white, odorless, but (like all amphetamines) tastes as bitter as fuck. It's extraction and solvent chemistry are almost identical to MA (methamphetamine), which happens to be my speciality!

You went to a lot of trouble making anhydrous acetone. The more water in the acetone, and the higher the temperature, the more MDMA dissolves - but this isn't necessarily a bad thing. Let me explain:-

A "wash" is exactly that. Only impurities near the surface of an MDMA crystal or particle can dissolve in the acetone, but impurities deep in the center of a crystal are untouched.

Crushing to a finer powder helps. You can use a pestle and mortar (or "pok pok", mine is Thai, like all of my early customers), but a cheap electric coffee grinder makes the job really easy.

A little water in the acetone dissolves some MDMA. If you BOIL the wet acetone, half of the MDMA will dissolve, then recrystalise when y the acetone cools. If its placed in the freezer, you get a second crop. Your "wash" is halfway to becoming a "dual solvent recrystalisation" - one of the most-effective purification techniques in chemistry.

It sounds difficult and complicated, but its easy and simple. If you imagine our impure MDMA sitting in a pyrex baking dish of wet acetone, being heated on an electric hotplate, the hotter the liquid becomes the more MDMA dissolves. So what you do is bring the acetone to the boil, and keep it just simmering. Then you add water, drop by drop, stirring with a chopstick, until there is JUUUUUST enough water to dissolve all of the MDMA in the hot acetone. You will have a little bit of powder which doesn't dissolve - these are INSOLUBLE impurities.

If you stick a cotton wool ball in the neck of a funnel, with another bowl underneath, you can pour the (still boiling) liquid into it. The MDMA and brown colour flow through the cotton wooll in a few seconds, and the insoluble solids stick to this "filter". The liquid in the bowl is now clear, but still brown. Then, as it cools a magic thing starts to happen!

Little sparkly crystals of much-purer MDMAglitter in the liquid, and settle on the bottom and sides of the bowl. After 20 minutes you will have a big pile of sparkly white crystals sitting at the bottome of some brown, stinky liquid. Put a lid on it -(or cover it with clingfilm) and stick the bowl in your freezer, to get nearly all of your MDMA back as lovely crystals!

Pour the freezing-cold, acetone / water mixture off into another bowl, leaving behind some unusually-pure MDMA, or meth, or 2CB, or whatever.

BBMC meth typically has 4 recrystalisations like this, always with a solvent that meth doesn't like to dissolve in (like acetone, ethyl acetate, methyl ethyl ketone) and a solvent it DOES like to dissolve in (water, methanol, isopropanol. or dichloromethane) mixed, and hot.

A little of the baby is always thrown out with the dirty bathwater. But a gram of ultra-pure meth is worth a hundred grams of "meh" meth, because it makes people happy and fully satisfied instead of a bit annoyed. It tastes lovely when smoked, and it looks beautiful

That is in the normal dose range...which is 80mg to 100mg when under the care of a medical doctor. Was this a dry acetone wash? When washing meth shards a dry acetone wash is what is used.

Yep used to get anyhdrous washed (twice) mdma that was also rerocked from a source. Cleanest mdma ever untill i accidentally dosed around 300mg +/- ?? At a club. Had to leave. Car ride back (3-45 mins after ingestion) i could barely talk to the cab driver, every car driving by was a blur, intense nastigma and jaw movement/gurn, and ultimately feeling lightning or electricity shoot throughout my entire body. And that is why you a buy scale my dudes. Also the guy in the bathroom who gives you a towl was sketching me out so i over indulged. Fuck iphone typing
