You can make a paper wallet as a gift. I did this as an Christmas present for my kids - got them each .1 BTC as a paper wallet which has the private key on it. They can redeem it anytime they want. There are several places online where you can print them.

I bought it when 1 BTC was around $1,000. So my $100 present is now worth $20. Thanks, Dad!

This isn't darknetmarket related, but I'll answer it anyway.

Casascius coins are legit, but Casascius stopped making them awhile ago. Late 2013 if I remember because of legality threats. Pretty sure he was sent a cease and desist. You can still find them on like ebay, but you want to make sure it's still got the seal intact and that the bitcoins are still on it. They can be checked online fairly easily though. Which is nice.

There's nothing really special about them. Other people and companies have stepped up and started making new ones. They mostly all use the mini-key format.

It's more of a symbol. I remember seeing some people walking around with them as necklaces at bitcoin events last year.
