What email should I use when setting up for PGP?

I don't want to use my everyday email account. When i tried signing up for a new Gmail and AOL account they both asked for my number, and an alternative email adress. Im afraid if i provide these, it will somehow provide some trail to my Darknet email account. Any clarifications?

As already mentioned...you can choose not to show your email address in your public key...period (keep that in mind). Also as previously mentioned, Lelantos is a great ESP...but they aren't free and are Tor based.

Protonmail, Riseup (offer free VPN too) and Lelantos (pay, Tor only) are three to check out. I would not suggest safe-mail with too many reasons to list. However, if you do have an account there and encrypt EVERY email...then there's nothing to worry about. Here's a list worth choosing from:

*@protonmail.ch

*@lelantos.org

*@riseup.net

*@lavaboom.eu

*@openmailbox.org

*@mail2tor.com

*@mailpile.is

*@scramble.io

*@sigaint.org

*@tutanota.de

*@mailbox.org

*@vfemail.net

*@vmail.me

*@austici.org

When setting up a PGP key you can either use a totally fake email or sign up for an Email service that does not require you to fill out an alternate email, phone number etc...A lot of people use Lelantos. Unseen.is, another good one. There are more out there bud.

If my username is "CharleHebdo" I'd make it charle@hebdo.com. It does not need to be legit

They dont verify the email address you can just put anything.

fake email nomail@notarealemail.com

dont use real emails and best to hide email.

I typically use yandex.com.

Yandex is notorious for sharing information with the Putin and friends in Russia, but if you're GPG encrypting everything anyways... just remember to avoid checking email on the clearnet.
