Stumbled upon Bitcoin ATM (No ID required)

So last week i was coming back from X midnight after a few drinks with friends , Strolled past a shop with a huge ''Bitcoin'' sticker on the window ,peeped inside and saw a Bitcoin ATM .

So after a few days i decided to pay a visit to this wonderful discovery in X , walked in with $100,slipped it up the machine and bought my bitcoins in less than a minute without scanning ID or submitting or registering to anything.Had a 4% fee which i didn't mind. Quite astonished and its a bit fishy ... Do you guys think its much more secure than buying BTC off Exchanges?

Secure? No. Anonymous? Probably.

Did it have a camera on it like a regular ATM?

Yeah, there's BTMs like that all over. A lot of them require some kind of ID or phone verification to buy coins, but a lot don't. If they don't, it's a great way to get coins anonymously, and 4% is pretty damn cheap for the fee. Sounds like you found a good'n.

They might not be legal in the U.S. for too much longer, so enjoy them while you can.

There's also two-way machines that you can sell BTC at, as well, but selling coins will always require some heavy ID stuff.

Unfortunately the one near me requires a SMS verification and fingerprint scan. I'll stick to my 10% fee with a local btc seller who takes cash and will never know my full name or have something like my fingerprint

That's very good news. Most have scanners that scan your face for ID purposes. Nice to see they aren't all like that.

What if they have cameras inside of the ATM and the bitcoin that is bought has a photo of you attached with it, saved into a database? /tinfoil
