Agora downtime seems to be causing poor judgement.

Let me preface by writing that I do not buy or sell anything illegal, nor do I hold any interests in Agora or any other darknet market. However, I have noticed that people seem to be far too comfortable with jumping to a new market while Agora is pausing its operations.

Why too comfortable? Well, Ag is an established DNM that has been able to grow to its current dominant size (market share), and last as long as it has while others have died. Now, this experienced and established DNM is pausing their operations because they are concerned that LE is able to deanonymize their hidden service (google TOR && deanonymize). Shouldn't this give users and vendors of DNM some pause as well?

I'm concerned that this community is far too captured with immediately finding a DNM replacement, instead of thinking more carefully about the vulnerabilities highlighted by Agora pausing its operations. Is this folly?

EDIT: I should make more clear that I'm not necessarily concerned with people switching markets, but that in the face of recent 'happenings' are continuing to use DNM's, business as usual.

Why would you give this sub the time of day if you don't use the dnm's?

You have to remember that a lot of people here are drug users.

No one actually knows the reason why Agora paused it's operations. It could literally be anything.

Even if the markets are at risk, that's no threat to the buyers, as long as the feds haven't cracked PGP

"I don't buy/sell or hold any interest in agora and the darknet markets" then what are you doing on here? You are on these forums everyday. What a bullshit statement.

You ever thought maybe the one or two guys running this just wanted a vacation?

[1 Points] None:

Some people were using other markets all along. Outlaw for instance.

A good market includes de-anonymization of its server(s) as an inevitable part of its security plan. Or so smarter people than me have said long before the Agora announcement.
