How bad would it be to not use Tails?

I can't seem to get Tails up and running correctly. I have it on a dvd, and can open it up and use it on restart, but when I try to open up Tor, it says Tor is not ready. I've figured out that it is because when using Tails, I cannot connect to the internet. I then tried restarting and opening more options, and turning off MAC spoofing, but this didn't work either. By the way I am on a Mac. Anyway, I don't think I am going to be able to get it to work, so how fucked am I if I decide to order without Tails? I would only be ordering 2 times a month or so.

I would not trust a Mac even with TOR but I'm very paranoid. Have you tried failsafe mode when booting TAILS?

You have other options, you could try getting on a free wifi. Maybe you router is blocking TOR. You can plug in an ethernet cable directly. Do Macs even have ethernet jacks?

If you do decide not to use TAILS, you MUST use PGP to encrypt your address.

The reason you can't use the wifi is because the drivers for the wireless card are proprietary and Tails does not have open source drivers for them. If you want you can buy a usb wifi adapter for a fairly low price. Also I think it would be fine to use OSX, just make sure you are using pgp and employing other forms of OPSEC.

I'm just using Tor on OSX and I haven't had my anus expanded by LE yet so I think you'll be fine without TAILS.

For your ounce of weed? You're fine.

For your ounce of MDMA? Don't bother using that Mac even with tails. Buy a new computer that comes with a linux OS by default.

See if you had updated tor within tails and saved the file under the same name as the previous version, download again with different namw

not using tails is not how people get caught

people get caught by

a)being ratted out by a customer/friend irl

b)ordering international

c)ordering weed from the west coast

d)consistently ordering large volumes that can start to be profiled

e)being too paranoid as to give away you're doing something wrong (this comes in the form of ordering to a fake name, but also in ways like opening a PO box with a fake ID which is basically throwing away your plausible deniability which WHY THE LIVING FUCK YOU FUCKING NEED THAT YOU SHIT) like you need to strike a balance of covering your ass and not making it look like you're covering your ass

are you an administrator or high-profile vendor? then no, you don't need tails. but if you've covered the above criteria, and you're still feeling sketched out, then go ahead, tails won't hurt

I'm running tails 1.3.1 off a thumb drive on a mac, and I have to use a direct ethernet line as Tails doesn't recognize my wifi adapter. Try that.
