It's your friendly darknet USPS guy reminding you use a real name that is connected to the address you are getting your orders shipped to!

I can't stress this enough people, mail carriers are REQUIRED to report fake names that they notice and may not even complete delivery.

If you have any other mail related questions please check my last AMA or tune in Monday and ask me when I do part 2!

And what happens if you try to send a package without a name at all?

Just the address. Or "Mom"

[15 Points] hugsfordrugs:

Thanks for that bit about them being required to report fake names, I didn't realize that. I'm working on updating our FAQ and this is more vital information to include.

The UK is probably different as my address receives junk, university, and bank letters for over 12 different people and the house only holds 5, it's disgusting though so it probably gets moved out of every year.

Another note, is it a good idea to try and disguise the drugs packets by ordering a few things off ebay and amazon sellers at around the same time?

[8 Points] PityHalo:

How about using "Current Resident" if it is small? I know for damn sure they will keep delivering that! haha Even out of state. I'm sure international junk mail would be suspicious though.

[8 Points] None:

i have extensive experience with mail drops and can confirm this is total crap, it is possible to receive mail with a fake name, just send a few letters with that name beforehand to your drop and make sure they get there. i dont give a crap what you claim to be, your talking nonsense. if you want to give safe advice tell people to use a reshipping company instead of a drop. dont tell them to send their real info out to organized criminals. downvoted for shitty information. oh, and cue the downvotes because i actually am speaking the truth

[7 Points] aalewis____:

What's the best way to get a drop address? How risky is it to get buy some scans + fake id and order a PO box? Do you have any recommendations?

[4 Points] SeriouslyWhoCares:

I regularly order stuff from Amazon with the name Marge Simpson, maybe 25 out of 100 orders I've used that name. Every one came through just fine. Would that make it any safer to use that name on illicit packages? Or does the USPS just lend credibility to a box that says AMAZON on the side?

[4 Points] None:

So if my girlfriend moves in with me and orders something online USPS will report it and not complete delivery? I'm sorry but this sounds like bullshit. There's literally thousands of legitimate reasons as to why I might not be using my real name for a delivery, what about if I run a business, or ten businesses?

[3 Points] badgrl2:

hmm, your link to your AMA isn't working for me, it's redirecting me to /r/DarkNetMarkets...I think because your post was in /r/reloaded and is that sub shut down??

Nice try, NSA, DEA, FBI, ATF and whoever else, nice fucking try.

[2 Points] pinkprincess1:

Thanks for sharing, this is really important and I didn't know that.

[2 Points] onionmofugga:

I work in a highrise and I can vouch for this. I actually was next to the mailman today when he was tlaking to the concierge about who did and did not live there anymore and he was making a list of names for return to senders.. and this is like a 1,200 unit high rise.

so if you think they dont keep track of your little suburban town your crazy. use a real name.

that being said fake name packages MAY get through but why risk it> its not like its gonna keep you outta jail. if anythign you increase your chance of a trip to the butt slammer.

UI actually asked the mailman, "holy shit, youp gotto keep track of all the names of people who move in and out" and hes like yes, its fucking hell. i spent a majority of my day doing 2 single highrises because of this

[2 Points] katzphan:

I have tons of drop addresses and carders use the same address with different names all the time. I've had 20 different packages with 20 different names sent to the same address. It would literally be impossible to be a carder if this were true. I've made tons of orders and only once had this problem when the house had been for sale for years, even than I called USPS and told them my parents just moved in and it was a house warming gift and they shipped it that same day. This guys a liar plain and simple

[2 Points] None:

What about misspelling a single letter in your name, like a B with a P in your middle name? I would figure that mailmen probably don't catch that misspell and don't care?

I do it because I don't want to end up tossing a DNM mail because I think it's trash, or open it in excitement thinking it's my order from amazon when it's really from DNM. I order tons of packages from the clearnet (legit, legal stuff, of course, I mean I order my fucking soap, razor blades, everything, online).

I could maybe ask them to like put a period, or insert a Mr., but I figured a misspelled letter would be the best, most discrete way?

[2 Points] solaruk:

Don' t use your real name. Postman won't report it. Use a c/o name. How would a postman know that your uncle bob is staying with you. Get real.

[2 Points] None:

Unless they have changed policy in the last 3-4 yrs. this guy is full of shit! I worked as a carrier for 24 yrs. You can't just not attempt delivery without knowing that name isn't living there. You have to attempt it,then if it doesn't go there, the customer who lives there is suppose to put it back out (I know hopefully) then we pick it up and return undeliverable as addressed.I was never REQUIRED to report fake names. How the fuck would I know it's a fake name!

[1 Points] Hashbangg:

What about slightly misspelled names? (Talking a character or two)

Obviously not enough to keep LE off your tail but should help cut down on the possibility of being extorted by a vendor.

Won't work for everyone (ie if your last name is smith) but if you have a lesser known, complicated last name it should be easy to drop or add a few characters.

Thoughts?

[1 Points] Vespco:

Why not just say "Resident of *address" as the name? I see that all the time on spam mail. Or perhaps a fake home business name? Home Crafts & Beads. That wouldn't be reported... and would make sense if it just started happening because they probably started a new business.

[1 Points] grangonhaxenglow:

offtopic - but lol ive used some hilarious names on some free magazines/catalogs in my time.

[1 Points] chepnut:

I can confirm this is true, used a fake name 1 time for 2 orders. They never arrived and got sent back it was a mess.

[1 Points] zeinfeld:

Would a package still arrive even if the last digit of the zipcode was off by 1 number? For example a 2 instead of a 1? All other address info is correct.

[1 Points] Jhukka:

What if it's an apartment, housing multiple college students, yet only registered to one or two students and the package is sent to a roomie that's not listed to people living in the apartment?

[1 Points] redjimdit:

The hell?

I just put a different name on my mailbox and nobody's ever questioned it.

[1 Points] leftyaries87:

what if ur an immigrant from another country living in the us without a proper id and u order, does ur name not being in the system afffect u anyway?
