Questionable vendor behavior

Placed an order on AB two weeks ago with a vendor I've never used. Next day, it's marked as shipped. On Monday night, the auto-finalize period was getting close but it still hadn't arrived. I wasn't worried -- it's an international order. Just figured it could take up to 3 weeks as I've experienced in the past. Anyway, with less than 2 days to go before auto-finalize, I disputed the order. I've never done this before, but from the info I found in this subreddit, that's what you do if the order is going to finalize but you need to retain the escrow funds until the pack arrives.

I immediately messaged the mod and said basically, "Hey, this isn't exactly a real dispute, I just haven't gotten my pack and I want to retain escrow until it arrives. I believe it will arrive in a week or so." Next time I log on, I see the vendor has cancelled the order.

Fortunately for me, the value of the bitcoin I was refunded appreciated by about $100 in the interim period, but now I can't get what I ordered in time for what I had planned. Life goes on, whatever, there'll always be more drugs.

But isn't this bullshit behavior from the vendor? Doesn't that mean he marked it shipped two weeks ago despite never having shipped it? I messaged him yesterday to calmly ask what's up but haven't heard back.

tl;dr Vendor marked order shipped two weeks ago, then cancelled order yesterday. No communication from him.

Edit: Vendor says he cancelled by mistake? I'll give it some time and see. I mean I'll pay him if it shows up so I guess we'll see.

Well, no vendor would cancel an order if they shipped it out.

Lucky call

Yes he was probably hoping that you would just let it finalize

Maybe the vendor checked the tracker and saw that its been seized, then rather than share the tracker so that you see that then go onto reddit warning about how vendor X is being profiled, they figured they would sweep it under the rug

I would avoid that vendor in the future.
