I haven't heard of anyone taking it or selling it on the dnms but I know in the past it was really common. I love history and drugs and have never had issues with addiction, so I want to try some. I'm not even a huge fan of opioids, so if anyone wants to recommend I just take a pill then please don't, I only want laudanum to say I've tried it not to do opiates. If anyone could tell me of a vendor or a source I could get Laudanum from it would be appreciated.
Are their any drugs other than Quaaludes or now I guess Purple Actavis that the community would class as dead drugs, or drugs that were once extremely common but are now effectively nonexistent? I want to get a list of substances to try before I die, and I figure anything that fits that description should be on it.
To the mods: if this counts as a sourcing post then feel free to remove it. I figure given the odd nature of the question it is at least an atypical sourcing post and thus it being posted isn't a bad thing as it may spark a good discussion.
I love the patent medicine period. Sort of the golden age of opiate use amongst the average everyday person. Although women tended to be users early on bc they generally didn't go to pubs and bars so this was their therapeutic outlet.
I have no advice how to find it. It's still legal in the us. At one point fairly recently (meaning last 20 years) it was given to infants addicted to heroin at birth. You probably won't find it easily bc it's inferior to other opioids more easily available.
For me, I'd have little interest in the drug but would love to collect old patent medicine bottles. Those would be cooler than the drug itself IMO. Someone did post here that they found some old drug in its original bottle. May have been laudanum but not positive. Think it was from the 50s.
