[General Questions] Why is FE Allowed?

Hello all,

When i first came to SR1 and made my first order everything was ESCROW.

I have been around for a long time, but now it seems the FE is so popular these days.

I am seriously confused to why this is even allowed.

DNM are supposed to help us be secure and FE does not make us secure.

FE = scams even from large vendors and exit scams.

It seems that FE should be taken out.

No logical reason to ask for FE. BTC fluctuates sure, but

FE should still not be allowed.

BTC is quite stable currently and FE makes all buyers not safe.

All these large Vendors ask for FE and seems many people dont

receive the product or cancelled orders and BTC gone.

I am sick of FE, sick of the scams and we need to be secure not just

in OPSEC. Giving your money without escrow is a bad bad idea.

All Markets should not allow FE even to long time Vendors.

Exit scams and they have 0 reason to ship.

Pay off the MODS to delete bad reviews which I have seen happen on Evo.

ANyone else agree with me that this needs to change?

No matter how secure we are if we allow this the DNM wont last

and the reputation will be deminished.

Any comments?

I've FE'd on vendors I've never even ordered from before for a better deal. It's about risk to reward ratio. It helps vendors. Haven't been burned once by being conscious of who I'm buying from.

[4 Points] RobotTits:

Stop FEing and shut the fuck up. No one is forcing you to do anything, so don't.

Am I the only one who feels this reads like a dr Seuss book?

You are right the whole point of the market is to provide security. Irl You wouldn't hand a stranger your money whilst he disappeared to get your stuff.

The dealer is the one making the big bucks if they can't handle the risk they shouldn't be in this business.

Because volatility and vendors don't want to have sketchy illegal websites holding a decent chunk of their assets while customers wait and dick around to finalize.

I accidentally let an order autofinalize on SR1.

:/

I apologized a lot and sent him $30 due to price decrease.

Some products need like 17 + days to clear customs, and resolution time. Bitcoin could drop 50% by then.

People are going to honeydick you. It's up to you to decide to take the condom off and FE.

I'd have to say I agree.

I've been around since olden times also, and one of Ross's original principles if my memory serves me correctly is that FE markets were bad news. I remember when you hardly ever saw FE....and newer DNM consumers always bring up the "trusted vendor" argument, but Tony76 killed that argument for me. (For those who don't know what I'm talking about - look it up - Tony 76 on SR1. It's an interesting story and a great warning - he was as trusted as they come and had people literally begging him to let them FE.)

In the chaotic period following the closure of SR1, some people considered FE was safer than escrow because of the number of markets doing exit scams, getting hacked, being closed by LE etc. (My only major loss was btc held in escrow when SR1 when down.)

If there was no FE, then there would be no noob drama to read about.

[1 Points] NotMeU:

Some of my favorite vendors offer a small inducement, some extra product, a sample of another product, free shipping etc., a little something extra to sweeten the transaction in my favor so the vendor receives their BTC’s faster thus minimizing the potential for losses from BTC value fluctuation, and having received the funds essentially consummates the transaction freeing the vendor to focus on new business. The only ones required to FE are newer buyers with few transactions as these are more likely to be disposable accounts often used to manipulate vendors by their rep. Certainly don’t FE if you’re not 100% comfortable doing so but with the right vendors it always paid off for both sides.

[1 Points] GrandWizardsLair:

How do you propose to ban FE? And what are you going to do when vendors avoid your "no FE" market and set up shop on marketplaces which allow them to do business as they see fit? You can have the safest, most tightly regulated marketplace on the Darknet and people will still go to Evo or Agora if that's where their preferred vendors are. (Don't believe me? Ask the folks who ran The Marketplace).

The Grand Wizard is always impressed by the Internet Libertarians who want a free and unregulated marketplace... until they get burned on a transaction thanks to their own carelessness, whereupon they start insisting we need all kinds of rules and regulations to protect poor innocent buyers from their own stupidity. (Think of THE CHILDREN!!!!)
