Hi, I'm looking for a good source of d-amphetamine (no dexedrine, just pure powder d-amp)
While you may think it's impossible, I have a synthesis that is not much harder than making meth (D/L).
Basically, there's an asymmetric synthesis route based on P2P reductively aminated with 1-Phenethylamine and hydrogenated under MeOH afterwards.
This can also be done with d-meth without needing ephedrine. In this case, n-methyl-1-phenetyhlamine is used.
1-Phenethylamine and N-methyl-1-Phenethylamine can be done by reductive amination of methylbenzoate with Ammonia, resp. Methylamine + hydride.
Afterwards, acetic anhydride will replace OMe with Me to yield the respective 1-phenethylamines.
I'm pretty sure this is interesting for everybody, as the yields are dam near 100%, meaning you get a cleaner product with less precursors (cheaper!).
You get more profit from this. We get less side-effects and byproducts. The additional precursors are unwatched.
And for the love of everything sacred: PLEASE ALWAYS DISTILL BEFORE MAKING THE SALT!!!

A much easier way:
-Grab bakers yeast from supermarket
-Throw it in a bucket with some water and sugar
-Throw some Phenyl-2-nitropropene(P2NP) in after about 15 minutes. P2NP is the 2nd most commonly used precursor to amphetamine, check out the precursors section on SR. It's by far the most popular item.
Bakers yeast/brewers yeast reduces the double bond, and like all biologically synthesized chiral compounds, the reduction results in a chirally pure product, Phenyl-2-nitropropane. Then use whatever reduction method you feel like(Tin in hydrochloric acid works quite well) to get your optically pure d-amphetamine.
I can assure you that yields will be no where near 100% using the method you described. Additionally, the precursors definitely are watched. Drug sniffer dogs can't identify cocaine due to the localized anesthetic effect of the drug, instead, they are trained to identify methylbenzoate, a decomposition product of cocaine in air.
If you want a synthesis that only uses completely unwatched OTC chemicals, you can start from almond flavoring to get to D-amphetamine in 3 steps.
