Title: WHICH MESSAGE IS THE SCAM????????????
Post by: DrMDA on September 20, 2013, 12:06 am
I just got this message from "Vendor Support":

"Dear DrMDA,

This is an automated message to all sellers at Silk Road :

there have been a couple of scam messages going around that I'm aware of. One from "S I L K R O A D" (notice the spaces) and one from "VEND0R SUPP0RT" (notice zeros instead of O's and all-caps).

You should ignore these messages.

Best regards,
Silk Road Vendor Support"

Were the other messages scams or is this message the scam???? I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO!!! This letter said the other guy was using zeros instead of O's but what if this guy is just using lower case zeros this time and HE is the scammer trying to prevent me to deposit all my BTC in the new safe SR wallet?????? What should I do, what should I do???? I don't know who to trust!

Quick! Someone give me a nice safe BTC wallet to transfer all my btc coins to so I can move them from my currently potentially compromised btc wallet (according to the first guy) and then if I find out later this new vendor support was telling the truth then I will just transfer them back. Quick! Before it is too late!

hmmm I'd be inclined to go with the one that used the correct cases/letters, not the zeros,  I cant see TSR admin doing that

and heya, I've got a nice safe wallet for you to use, if you want, what's it worth to me?

make me money motek

And this is why British people think Americans don't have a fully developed sense of humour.
(Give or take Richard Pryor, Larry David , Bill Hicks and Louis CK and Modern Family and hundreds of others)

Yeah, British humor is so much more refined like Benny Hill and that pedophile fuck Jimmy Saville.  I have never equated anything from England as being humorous other than the populace's delusion of self importance.

Jimmy Saville wasn't a comedian, he was a national treasure. Its come to a sorry state of affairs when a man who 'fixed it' for thousands of children, OBE, KCSG, who raised in excess of £40 million for charity, CAN'T FUCK WHOEVER THE FUCK HE WANTS!

as for Benny Hill we'd prefer it if you didn't mention that monster.

Our government is also pretty funny if you like dark humour.
Oh and Fawlty towers.

Its been said, and I think truly that an Englishman would rather be told he was bad in bed than that he had no sense of humour.

the populace's delusion of self importance.
Its not a delusion. We do tend to be self important. We are also famous for our pedantry.

Are you fucking kidding you do not know witch message is a scam???

Any fucking message from SR that ask for money is a SCAM!!!

The fact this type of question is asked...is exactly why these scammers keep scamming...

Yep. He is fucking kidding. Or maybe I am the one misreading this situation?

Yep. He is fucking kidding. Or maybe I am the one misreading this situation?

The sad thing is....he wasn't!!

And to clarify what I mean by saying the fact this question is asked is why the scamers keep trying to scam...is because people are really stupid and do stupid things. Not saying this OP is stupid. But the scam messages he was talking about....At least 8 btc were sent to that address!!! Meaning there were members stupid enough to believe that SR would message you and ask you to send money to a BTC address!! And as long as there are stupid people..the scamming will continue.

And these scams are not good ones. NO ONE should fall for them. NO ONE. Under no circumstances.  And for those that did..sorry you did as I hate to hear about anyone getting scammed. And no one ever deserves it. But I really hope they were high as shit..because if they fell for this sober......

From our fearless leader himself: "They were both poisoned. I spent the last few years building up an immunity to iocane powder."

I have read reports of the "S I L K R O A D" and "VEND0R SUPP0RT" messages using PGP signatures which do not verify, therefore the message DrMDA received would appear to be accurate. Was that message itself unsigned?

Wow. I figured I'd get one reply that said "get lost retard, you're not funny". Instead I get 2 pages of people debating if there is such a thing as lower case zeros.

Don't use drugs.

Damn, you got me, you bastard :)

In our defence, posts seem to be made here in such an assortment of states of consciousness that I can have difficulty telling how serious they're meant to be :)

Seems like the safest and most logical thing to do. One of those things that are so obvious you look right past it.
