Title: ATM bank deposits for BTC's
Post by: Newguy321 on July 27, 2013, 03:03 pm

Has anyone ever used a ATM to deposit money into someone else's account for BTC's? I am looking to pick up some bitcoins from localbitcoins.com and they request Bank of America deposits. The only thing I have around me are BOA ATM's. So I thought I could make a cash deposit into there acct through the ATM. I think this can be done. Has anyone ever done it?

I don't think this would be possible. First you would need a debit card to insert into the ATM and you would need the PIN. I believe you have to actually go in and fill out a deposit slip.

the thing with that is depending on the information needed on the deposit slip and what the turnaround times are for the ATM deposit pick up....most vendors of localbitcoins dont keep the order open long so if the deposit slips are picked up regularly from the ATM it could delay and cause a cancellation in order unless the vendor already has an understanding with you... i have done it straight into the bank in the lobby multiple times but i just dont trust the ATM because i dont know the speeds , thats surprising all those BOA ATMS around you and not one back even within 30-45 mins thats unfortunate ....i know there are other payment methods on localbitcoins...like Okpay...cash deposit direct to seller, and i think some use paypal and other wire transfers ....if you feel uncomfortable with the ATM methods see if any of the other methods will work and explore around with other vendor payment options.

I checked around online and it does not look possible. I would need the card and pin. Sure would be nice if the vendor would give me that!

Yeah, No BOA's within about 40 Minutes from the house. Tons of PNC banks and credit unions. Such is life. I will have to make the trip and make a larger first purchase than I had planned.

damn that sucks man...well if your not in a rush to get coins ASAP , there always is CampBx you can mail in a moneyorder up to $1000 , but that is just another avenue if you are in a hurry well yeah you going to have to keep searching on localbitcoins for another payment method....even if you do a local search to your area (or somewhat close your area) you cant find people that use the local banks or any other payment method that is more suitable? i know some people meet up and do face to face transaction because investing in BTC is completely legal but idk how comfortable people are with that method yet i know some who use it all the time but some people dont like the idea of meeting up with a local vendor...just trying to give you some more ideas
