Hey guys,
I know a lot of you have been experiencing issues with TOR, like me, and you want a solid fix. I found this to work for me, after I had enough of editing the TORRC configuration, I searched for an alternate solution, and this solution works wonderful.
Most all of you have the Vidalia Browser Bundle installed already. You must download ONE additional program. It's called AdvOR
1. Download and install the Tor Browser Bundle if you haven't already
2. Download AdvOR from *CLEARNET WARNING* http://sourceforge.net/projects/advtor/files/latest/download
3. Extract AdvOR somewhere that you will be able to remember (I just extracted to the same directory as the Browser Bundle..)
4. Start the browser bundle the way you normally would, and wait for the browser to open.
5. Once the browser opens, goto Vidalia and click "Stop Tor"
6. Goto your AdvOR directory and open "AdvOR.exe"
7. On the list to the left, locate and click "Circuit Build", under "OR Network"
8. Edit the option "Circuit Build Timeout" to a number between 5 and 10. I use 5.
9. Click "Connect" at the bottom.
10. Goto your browser that's already open, and test it out! The first attempt to connect to a website might be shakey, because that's when it starts building a circuit, but after that it's smooth sailing!
You can minimize this program and Vidalia to the system tray. This program also has tons of nifty features.. when you use a new identity it allows you to choose a CUSTOM exit node, and you can even favorite certain nodes and create your own circuits! I'm not going to teach you how to do that though!
+1 if this guide helped you. Thanks!
ALSO
If you click "DEBUG" under "SYSTEM" there is a LOT of useful information. Especially if you change the dropdown box that says "[6] Proxy" to "[7] Info"
