Title: Vac sealers could ID you!!
Post by: novocaine on February 23, 2012, 08:50 am
I dont know about anyone else but I can tell by the seal of a package which of my 3 vac sealers I used.

Each have a slight little defect in the seal caused by a ripple in the heat strip.

Anyone else notice this?

I don't think there's any definitive way of looking at a seal and knowing which brand of vacuum sealer was used, but it's definitely something I would buy with cash.

LEO seize rolls of freezerbags and clingfilm round here when busting people, I know 2 cases where they've matched packaged drugs to the roll of bags or clingfilm.

I tried to fix the  slight ripple/ pimple on one but with no success. Anything I did to the heat seal transferred to the package.

It has nothing to do with the brands I have, but the slight defect each one transfers on the seal.

I can believe that, since I've seen cases where a piece of plastic trash bag used in a crime was matched to the machine that created it and the batch it was shipped in.  This is definitely something for sellers to be concerned about.  Vac sealers are used all the time to package dope and I'll bet there are documents and training courses used to show how to ID vac sealer marks.
