Title: Do people do gift debit card>BTC exchanges?
Post by: slybootz on June 08, 2012, 03:46 am
So, as a birthday gift, a family member gave me a $100 Vanilla Visa gift card; it's a prepaid debit card.  I know nothing about prepaid cards, but a google search says that I cannot use it at an ATM, but i can use it through paypal.  I know most exchangers will not do paypal>BTC because of fraud.

Would I be better off finding someone who will take the card number+security code?  Or should I try and find someone who will do a paypal exchange?  I know that get-bitcoin accepts these cards for a 3% surcharge, but you have to physically mail them in.  I'm impatient and want BTC asap!

Hoping someone on #bitcoin-otc can help.  If not, maybe I can find a friend IRL tomorrow that will trade cash for the card.

Problem solved:  girlfriend said she didn't mind taking the card for cash.  EZ-PZ.
