Just a thought. The guy's probably looking at life here. :(
I know I would give a half a bitcoin or so if this were set up properly.
What do you guys think?
-
life is hes lucky. vendors who lost upwards of $100k arent going to let his noob mistakes slide. just imagine how many legs are going to get broken because their distributors want their money.
-
There's no way they're going to give a computer geek life in prison. It's not like he actually murdered anyone. The max sentence for what he is being charged with is Life but the minimum is like 5 year for each charge.
I'd say he's going to serve them consecutively so looking at probably 7-10years in jail.

We would send some BTC.
As a vendor you ALWAYS think your business that way, that if a bust happens would you survive it financially?
it is actually like day trading in that regard... risk management...
So any vendor who is fucked right now took on more business than his risk manaigement would have allowed...
it is hard to say that but the truth is always hard.
We learned that also the hard way...we could do probably 4times the business IRL & online but a simply NO...we don't stretch our luck to much...
-
He will serve life whether guilty or not to serve an example, I really don't think legal fees would serve a purpose.
We could start a worldwide petition to release him... I'm sure a million people would sign, but also a milllion peoples names would be recorded as supporters of a 'terrorist'

This guy made over 650k bit coins and the Feds only found 27k. Why in the fuck. Matter of fact why on gods green earth would anyone think about helping this guy. It's his own dumbass fault he got caught anyways. Anyone who's thinking about helping this guy financially I'm sorry to say but you sir, are a fucking retard.
-
agreed. he made plenty of money and should be just fine. more like donate to the people that lost massive amounts of $
donate to all the SR vendors who lost everything and wanna re open on diff markets!
-
Yup I was thinking the exact thing. He made lots of money off our sales and the price we paid to join as a vendor. I'm sure he must have a nice stash buried somewheres out in the desert.
I'd sooner help out fellow vendors that lost cash however I am now broke myself so I cannot. Can't even afford the damn BMR fee gotta wait 2 weeks for a transfer to come in.

He didn't exactly steal from the vendors personally, everybody knew the risks..
Whatever DPR made for himself from this, I doubt he'll be in a position to spend soon, if ever.

we should collect now for a fund to be split between every juror who delivers a not guilty, no questions asked. if your verdict is not guilty then a share of that is yours to be collected when you like. make it known to everyone and anyone.
-
Sorry, but if he wasn't smart enough to hide funds for a rainy day, then thats on him.
Still amazes the fuck out of me that someone involved in dealings such as him didn't think once to have an attorney on retainer in the event that he was ever caught.
-
He must have a legal defense fund sitting in the trust of his lawyer... Doesn't everyone here have that set up?
-
He has alot of bitcoins out there somewhere. He will never see freedom again, guaranteed. They will cumulatively add up the drug charges individually and give him one of those ridiculous American prison sentences of 1000's of years. Would love if he cryptically left clues for people here to get access to some of his BTC if he ever got caught. That would be good for the movie.

If he was based in the UK he would have got around 15years and be out in 8 or so. :-\
This link would verify it.

America - The land of the free. What a fucking joke.

I wish I had some spares but the damn LE took my spares I would definitely throw all I could at it knowing every little bit counts.. We can not let this guy fry like snowden and manning... He is a Hero not a villain and he should be treated that way ... just tell me where to donate
-
He's prolly gonna sell out. Work with the feds. Be in some kind of witness protection program. He won't do much time.
-
I can't comprehend any scenario where he does not cooperate with the federal government. SR is done for good. The mirror/back-ups are never going to happen. Neither will emergency withdrawals. It is over. Sad, but it is the truth.

And you wanna know why? Because he's a fucking idiot! If anyone with half a brain in his position A. Would not be living anywhere near the country that wanted to arrest him most, and probably had the most resources to do so. B. He would've started moving some of his millions of dollars in bit coins to cash or gold. But then again who's to say that he didn't already move a good amount of his coins to cash. Shit for all we know the 27k coins the seized from him could be all he had. I likely doubt that I'm guessing most of his coins are in some wallet the Feds just haven't found. Yet.

Fah-q and dipset I couldn't agree with you guys more.
-
Think about it..
He's just to smart/special to get wasted in jail forlife. They can use he's skills against crime.

Maybe, also maybe when you're looking at life would anyone here not do what Sammy Gravano did??
Respect to DPR, that's what I say.

He's earned 80 million in fees. I think he will be all right financially. Mom comes into jail and gets the passphrase for the truecrypt volume. Then bone up on the technology and the markets. BAM... lawyer money.

this is what everyone MUST assume, then act accordingly.

Mind you... if he was black they'd have given him several million years instead.

I might consider helping this guy out financially if he first gives me back my 250.000 USD i had in his 'ultra safe' 'backed up' escrow

He he, exactly. a well respected vendor I though you would be over BMR not here!

Retrospectively speaking DPR should have taken the trip himself:

And the server with him, to a safer place.
-
Fuck no. I can't for the life of me figure out why this guy would do this shit from the US of all places in the world. I was always of the opinion he'd be logging in to an ultrasecure owned server in a cave in Rafplalakistan via tripple-cascade encrypted satellite link, prolly from the beach in Phuket. Certainly the thing had some acid pans sitting on the HDDs so if someone tried to open it the data was destroyed.
But nooooooo, we had to use rented servers in a country that would be amenable to honoring US subpoenas. Even better yet, we would rent those servers with fake IDs but be stupid enough to put our own pics on it. That alone is like Platinum Darwin Award.
We all thought he was some sort of genius, turns out he was some third-rate hobby coder who didn't heed any of the advice he so eagerly dispensed to others.
