Title: DELETED My "My Documents" Folder! Any Techies on The Road
Post by: SouthSquareBiz on November 01, 2012, 02:53 pm
Don't ask, don't ask, don't ask!

It was dumb, I know, but I thought I had TWO "My Documents" folders and it appears I had only one, LOL!

I am a part of more seo, internet marketing, and social fortunes than I care to mention.

However, I believe I can get better tech support here on The Road from the darkside, than I could on the clearnet.

Can anybody help me, outside of saying I need document restoration software, or if I do, is there a version that's free?

Thanks in advance for your help!

The software we use is called Prosoft Data Rescue.

It is a live CD, after you download, unrar, and burn the ISO to the Nero or any other app, we start the computer from the burned CD.

Insert a USB stick, we will use for restoration, asks only two options:

1 Source  (hard drive where you had "My Documents"
2nd Destination: Pendrive usb

Good luck

If it isn't in your trash then try 'system restore'.

There is a free program called "recuva", distributed by piriform, the same people that also made the program CCleaner. It allows you to easily recover deleted files.

http://www.piriform.com/recuva

Warning: You should not write data to the disk, there is a risk of overwriting your deleted data, causing them to be destroyed permanently.

A good option is to have another computer with recovery software installed scan your hard disk for deleted files. Or if you really have to, just install recuva and scan your disk directly and hope that installing the program doesn't overwrite the deleted files.
