Title: Transactional charge for transfering bitcoins from a personal wallet to SR?
Post by: nuyt on October 08, 2012, 04:05 am
Apologies in advance if this is answered somewhere, or is annoying in its noob-ness for some other reason.

Being new to SR and bitcoins, I need to fund my account so I can start having some fun with what this great site offers. As I'm a cautious person by nature though, my plan would be to fund the wallet-thingy that I downloaded directly from the bitcoin website, and then transfer over just enough to cover my first purchase (also because I might want to use bitcoins for other purposes than SR). If all goes well I take it from there. On the other hand, the more I read the more legit all this seems, so if there is some transaction fee that comes with transferring bitcoins from one wallet to the other, I might as well just send them straight to my address from this site.

I don't mean to question anybody's legitimacy, I'm just wondering if there is a fee attached to transferring between two of my personal wallets. TIA!

Transaction-fees are a matter of the bitcoin network itself. If you get your bitcoins funded directly to your SR account, you won't have to worry about them. But even in the worst case, you'll only end up paying 0.0001 btc, in most cases.

Great! That's pretty much what I'd gathered from other stuff I've been reading, but it's great to get a quick confirmation. Thanks for the info!
