Title: Tails: Cursor jumping all over the place
Post by: phubaiblues on November 01, 2011, 10:21 pm
Seems kind of a stupid question, but I'm out of ideas.  I've gone to System>Preferences>Mouse and tried to set it there, but whether I use a mouse or the keypad, my stupid cursor just keeps hopping around, half the time erasing all the stuff I've written.  I'm figuring there must be some linux app I can install that will give me something that I can adjust, but in the Tails distro, of course, there isn't...  I guess I'll search for something that is specific to my computer make, and look on debian forums, as this is getting really old.

When I first boot up Tails, I'm used to running updates, and installing keepassx, so it wouldn't be a strain to add installing another app, upon boot, as I know there's no persistence...iif anybody knows of one, or I'll go on regular web and post on debian/linux forums, see what I can find...TIA :)

Put your tin foil hat on to block the alien signals and hop on one foot.  Press Ctrl Alt Delete. While rebooting press F2, gotta be quick. Swear 3 times, while still hopping and turn in a circle. Stop. Stare at your computer and give it the 'ol stink eye. Then boot as normal. That should do the trick.

If that doesn't work I suggest breaking it down and scrapping the precious metals.

Check under your mouse, got a hair stuck in your optical sensor?

Shit, that didn't work either....sure was exciting trying tho ;)

No, and it does it with keypad, also, so it's not anything with the mouse.  It's just a new machine, and has some convoluted serious keypad, that is setup in windows...on linux, it doesn't seem to be affected by any of the available settings that TAILs provides, cursor still jumps, but there are fixes in the ubuntu and debian forums for similar stuff, and I'll find something...it actually serves a good purpose, using one little netbook for traveling to coffeeshops and whatnot, for main site, and then for forums, where it's just chitchat, I can use windows setup...more an interesting problem to me, something where I need to get the linux command to bring up keypad, or find some workaround, so I can make it less sensative...or just learn to type without hammering so damn much...

Thankyou :)
