How do I go about reading a PGP encrypted message that I was sent in a PM? I know how to do it using email, but have no clue what to do in any other case. I'm not the most computer savvy person, and I had someone help me set up my encryption, and the only way I've done it so far is with email. I sent a PM to someone who asked for my public key, and now I don't know how to decrypt it.
Thanks for any help!

If you can't decrypt the message how do you know they're asking for your public key? (Or maybe that part was sent unencrypted?) Anyway...
Since you say you're familiar with decrypting e-mails, why not send the encrypted text to yourself in an e-mail? To do so, highlight the PM text in your browser, copy it (Ctrl-C), paste it (Ctrl-V) into a new e-mail, then send it to yourself. From there you'd presumably know what to do.
(There are certainly better ways than that to handle this but, since you didn't say what PGP client you're using, we'd only be guessing as to what procedure to recommend.)

- how is it the sender sent you an encrypted message, what was your orig -in plain text? does the sender have your public key? -otherwise how is the sender
going to expect you to then decrypt the reply..!?
- is there no functionality in your email client to decrypt text mesages, you will have to look at the menu options?
- you probably need more software installed to manage public keys and do encrypting & decrypting oustide of just emails.
- there are threads discussing gpg/pgp with step by step instructions for mac and windows which may help you work out which package / software you
are missing.

Okay, so since the forums were down before I got a chance to check and see what anyone had said, I did exactly what CrunchyFrog said to do, and it worked. So I've got that part figured out, but now I have another Q. How do I encrypt a message using someones public key to send in a pm? I'm using Kleopatra. Would I just do basicly the same thing tha I did to decrypt the last pm I got, except opposite? Meaning, would I write the message using their public key in an email, encrypt it, then send it to myself, and open it and copy and paste it in the pm message?
Thanks for the help! In the meantime, I will go and read the thread referenced above to see if I can find the answer.

Yes -- since you seem to have the e-mail procedure already sorted -- that should work (provided you have their public key on your keyring).
You might want to have a look at the GPG Step-by-Step: Windows Pictorial thread here [ dkn255hz262ypmii.onion/index.php?topic=131.0 ] for a method that would allow you to bypass the hassle of e-mailing to yourself for each message. You'd be using the GPA (GNU Privacy Assistant) "clipboard" facility rather than Kleopatra and e-mail. It's your choice, however; use whatever method works for you.

Thanks for the tip Crunchy! That is just what I was looking for.
