Title: blockchain.info ate my coins
Post by: swaarvy on November 28, 2012, 04:08 am
I made a moneygram deposit today that was setup from blockchain.info via BitInstant. Received email when I got home that payment went through and was waiting on merchant. This was at 4PM....still no BTC's in my blockchain.info wallet.

I contacted blockchain.info and my message was forwarded to bitinstant support, who notified me that the transaction had gone through and the BTC's were in the address that she provided. She said that I may need to sync my blockchain.info account. I'm not sure how to do that, but...

In my blockchain.info account, there are two addresses listed in the btc address list. When I made my payment, one of the current BTC addresses in the list was listed and it is still the same one listed when you go to make a new cash deposit. So, how the hell did my BTC's *MAGICALLY* get deposited into this random BTC address?

I've done some quick reading and it seems like those BTC's are going to be stuck in limbo, lost forever. I think I basically just threw $260 down the toilet. I hope there's a simple fix for this problem...

Okay, got it sorted out. No worries.

Since the order was created with the anonymous checkbox selected, my btc deposit address was replaced with a random anonymous address, and since BitInstant took a long time to deliver the coins the address was deactivated.

Once I got in touch with support they reactivated the address and my btc were waiting for me in my wallet.

Slight hiccup, very stressful, glad it's over.
