Sorry if stupid question. What is a custom listing? for example-
Custom listing for 31ep
-
If I were a vendor who sold chocolate cake by the slice, and you were a buyer who wanted 79 slices, I would make a custom order for you to buy them in bulk, probably at a discounted rate.
-
Ok, but then why are custom orders offered at a standardised price?
I understand customisation, but not the letters and prices with the specific custom order options seen throughout SR.

You don't know they're at standard prices, since you don't know what comes in any given custom order. It's only listed for everyone to see because there's not a private option. Only the person who the order is for will be allowed by the vendor to buy it.
Example: silkroadvb5piz3r.onion/silkroad/item/0d084470e3
That's a custom listing for someone with the initials PB. What is being sold? We don't know. Maybe it's an amount of product in increments 3Jane doesn't normally sell in. Maybe it's a product she only told PB about and doesn't want everyone to know yet. Maybe she and PB are friends, and the custom order is discounted.
Perhaps I'm misunderstanding your question?
