Title: Here's an idea for you vendors about status updates
Post by: Ktown99 on October 25, 2012, 12:57 am
It's great that you give updates on your vendor profile but what's the point in putting it there if it doesn't have a date associated to it?

"Hi I'm out of action for a couple of days. Will be back as soon as."

Would be better if it looked like this:

"24/10 Hi I'm out of action for a couple of days. Will be back as soon as."

If there's no date and you're saying you're out of action for 2 days how the hell do I know when those 2 days started?

This is true mate, although from my experience most Vendors do comment dates when they put updates on their profile :)

True for the example you posted but general updates dont require a date.

If i saw an undated note such as the one you suggested i would assume it was current though.

I think most vendors either put dates for time-related updates, or leave them off for indefinite, or general lasting updates.

E.g.  24/10 Sold out of product x

vs. UPDATE:  Will no longer be offering product x

Also, "away status" updates usually go hand-in-hand with the last seen metric on the vendor page.

My point--I really don't think this is a problem with 99% of vendors.  Is there one vendor in particular that this post is meant for?  Or are you just pointing out how your perceive it?

Completely agree, vendor status updates are not very useful unless dated.

It was for one in particular but they've made a change as I suggested. Without a date it leaves the buyer in the dark. When was it posted, how many days or hours ago etc.
