Title: figuring out GPG
Post by: amo3eTRUU5Y on September 12, 2012, 07:46 pm
Hey. I'm really close to making my first purchase on silk road. I've got the bitcoins and the encryption software I'm just a little confused as to what comes next. I copied and pasted the sellers public key into a text document and imported it to GPG keychain access. The tutorial I'm working for doesn't really make it clear what the next step is. Do I just encrypt the address I want to send the product to and paste it into the text box on silk road or is there another step? The tutorial made it seem like there was something else I had to do. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks for posting this. Helped out a lot.

Quick question: I have products from three different reputable vendors in my shopping cart. Do I need to checkout with each vendor separately in order to encrypt my address with their key or is there a way to encrypt my address once and it be available to all three keys?

Any advice is welcomed and appreciated!

Hi Guru. Im new and total stuck.

I've downloaded liberte and using that OS. I am using GNU privacy assistant which sounds the same as GPG. Thing is I just cant seem to save anyones key. I dont know what the actual key is or where to find it. I see at the bottom of peoples pages there is the long public block. Is that it?

I see at the bottom of your forum posts you have 3 keys. What are they?

Do I copy and paste into geedit?

Everything I try I just get an error saying "no key found". Please help...

Welcome scobes.

I dont know what the actual key is or where to find it. I see at the bottom of peoples pages there is the long public block. Is that it?

Public key generally looks like this.

-----BEGIN PGP PUBLIC KEY BLOCK-----
Version: GnuPG v1.4.12 (GNU/Linux)

mQGiBE+s5dIRBADj6XAANFRpKTpK7C0gnEg9tZg0EazNaIom4Pmlh9dKfWWTfz8J
....
yby8HSRQJ2wI118raPQYOh8D/inen91HCPjJ/jc7y9FJfQbLD3FstilJKoQtp7mw
=RY8i
-----END PGP PUBLIC KEY BLOCK-----

A lot of examples in the PGP thread here http://dkn255hz262ypmii.onion/index.php?topic=174.msg234832

I see at the bottom of your forum posts you have 3 keys. What are they?

First link is Guru's signature for a thread where the key is posted.
Second link is a link to a keyserver entry
Third line is fingerprint

Do I copy and paste into geedit?

Everything I try I just get an error saying "no key found". Please help...
In Liberte, save the key in a file (you can use gedit).
Open GPA, click Import.
Select the file with the key.

Thank you for the reply. Thats cleared a few things up.

I still had a lot of problems this but what I didnt realise - but eventually did - is that I have to name the file filename.asc (it was the .asc that I was missing).

Thanks guys.
