I'd love it if SR could have a REST API server.
That way I can code up some ncurses front-end to it, have it all secure/encrypted and live on an anonymous shell account somewhere and not have to use the browser.
:)
I'd share the ncurses client :D

I saw the thread title and was all prepared to come into this thread and shoot it down... but yeah, that makes a shit-ton of sense.
I wrote something similar for MtGox and another exchange as a bash script. It was surprisingly flexible and straight forward. All praise semantic, structured data.

Second this. For different reasons, but I think it is a great idea.

I was going to create a new thread, but decided to bump this instead.
This seems like it could be a great boon to buyers and sellers alike. For buyers, the ability to quickly and easily make purchases through command line interfaces, etc. For sellers, the ability to manage their processes in a more customized fashion, without a lot of work by the Silk Road developers.

Agreed, this is a great idea. Would definetly help with setting up some kind of automated/semi-automated order managment system.

really, the API is necessery, someone with enough time/resources can write one up anyways by using screenscraping and combine it with all kinds of unwanted features like mass mailing etc. look at a services like de-captcher.com they solve all captcha you throw at them...
