Title: Del Ellis Trip Report
Post by: gOecMA on June 03, 2012, 08:53 pm
My girlfriend and I had done acid together once before and stayed inside because it was still cold. This time it was beautiful out so we decided to go on a hike near her apartment. We had told friends our plans so someone would know what we were up to. Around 3 pm we ate the tabs- I had 3 and she had 2 (they were purchased on SR which worked wonderfully).

We immediately set out walking along a rather busy road to get to the trail and quickly made it to the dirt road that led down to a river and the trail head. There, my girlfriend had to go to the bathroom and luckily there was a porta-potty available. This would have worked great except for the fact that as soon as she sat down there were snakes poking their heads out of the cracks and that was not going to work for her. Concluding that nature would be a better option, we headed down the trail to find another spot. Yet another snake was seen on the ground, but I convinced her to just take care of business so we could be on our way. Luckily we weren't tripping quite yet :)

We continued down the glowing green sunlit trails and slowly felt the effects kick in. We were both grinning and laughing while trodding along- it was great. We continued on the trails for another hour or so and came out on the nearby college campus which was pretty much empty because of the holiday. By now we were both seeing slight patterns, but we were also walking and hot and sweaty so they weren't super pronounced.

It was kind of eerie, but really neat to walk around with nobody there and we headed to the arboretum to explore. The gravel path was constantly shifting under our feet and every time we turned a corner it seemed like we were in a brand new place. I attempted to spread a blanket on the grass so we could sit back and enjoy the trees and sky, but my girlfriend is not the type to sit still so we were only there for a really short time. We kept walking the trail into the forest and sat down for a few minutes to enjoy the shimmering sunlight coming through the treetops and the tree bark that seemed to be flowing up and down the trunks.

We wandered around for a while longer and decided to head back home via the path we took in which involved walking through the empty campus again. When we were walking through a big parking lot we saw a campus police car a ways off which made us a little paranoid, so we walked quick and tried not to look over our shoulders because we were in no shape to be talking with law enforcement. After a couple miles we reached the trail head and began walking back up the dirt road. Not 2 minutes after we got out of the woods do we see a car coming at us down the single width path. Of course it was a campus police car- right after our hearts had slowed down a bit from earlier. We scooched to the side to let him drive by and I grimaced a smile and waved as he drove past.

There is only one road in, so we kept walking, knowing the cop would be coming up behind us at any second and not wanting to look back like we were suspicious. I felt horrible that I let my girlfriend get into this situation because it was really making me anxious and I'm sure that she was even more anxious. We kept walking, holding our sweaty hands tight and hoping for the best. Finally, walking up a big hill to the main road, the cop came up behind us and my girlfriend turned and waved while he drove past. I can't think of another time in my life where I felt more relief. We were home free but had to walk another half mile to her apartment in the hot sun. Luckily we brought lots of water and snacks so we weren't worried about passing out or anything. We were definitely still shaken from the cop though and all we wanted was to be home and alone.

Finally we made it back and breathed a huge sigh of relief. We knew we had a few hours left to kill and were stuck in an empty apartment because she had recently moved everything out. All we wanted to do is clean up and sit down, but there were no towels or shower curtains or couches so we had to settle on a sleeping bag on the floor. After an hour or two of resting and laughing our heads off about stupid stuff we decided to order pizza. We sat outside waiting for it to come and the pavement and clouds were doing the most amazing things. I love how the clouds and whole sky just billow and swirl, it's so surreal. When the pizza came the delivery driver probably thought we were a little odd, but after worrying about talking to a cop it seemed like nothing. After another couple hours of chilling we finally headed out and called the day a success.

I didn't really have the time to sit and think during the trip because I wanted to make sure my girlfriend was doing alright- she's the opposite of me, always needing stimulation and to be doing something. Maybe next time I'll be able to do it alone and ponder some deeper thoughts, but I came out of this trip really appreciating her even more than I did before. I'm not sure what it is, but both times we have done acid together it has brought us closer. I'm normally rather introverted and I think it helps loosen me up and feel emotions more deeply than I normally do.

Lesson learned: probably best to avoid empty college campuses and their trails haha...
