In the past I've gone through aurumxchange, bitinstant, bitcopia, and a couple of coin vendors on the road, all of which are MIA right now. What the fuck is going on? I can't even find anybody that can process an order for me. This feels to me like the beginning of the end of the road. It's so difficult to get coins now. I was thinking of trying blueskytraders or BTCKing next, but they are both "waiting for their accounts to be funded".... it never used to be this hard.
Anyway, how is everyone getting their bitcoins nowadays? I'm at a loss for options.
-
I mine and buy for cash. Search and you shall find people willing to sell bitcoins to you for cash.
-
localbitcoins
-
i write a note..saying how many bitcoins that i need...
then i go to the park and place that note under the trash can near the bird feeder.....
then i wait an hour and i then go to wal-mart, at wally world i look for the guy with an orchid in his lapel....
once i find the guy with the orchid in his lapel i give him the money and he tells me that i'm good to go :)
:P
just kiddin ya :)
What are Bitcoins
:o
-
Tips mostly.
-
I get my bitcoins by selling LSD, it works really well.
-
Hey Tessellated, i gave you bitcoins for LSD, it was fucken fantastic!
I would do it again, but I still have 9 trips left ;) best I've ever had...

+1 (or as soon as I'm allowed to give karma I'm coming back to this post)

To everyone that uses localbitcoins, do you tell them to send straight to your SR addy? I hate dealing with the multiple wallet bullshit.
-
it's pretty similar to sr, you place an order and the coins are in escrow. seller marks payment received when they get it and then release coins from escrow into your wallet there. the multiple wallet bullshit is for your security you know.
-
Haha yea I know it's for security, I just think it's unnecessary sometimes.
Would you recommend I use them for this site? Any wallet site recommendations would be appreciated.

If it existed, I would use this system simply for the entertainment value.
As for coins, I think this is temporary. BTC prices are tanking bad and there are a large number of people out there that would lose money selling right now. Let the price come up and you will get all the bitcoin you want. People just aren't going to sell for a loss. I find it highly suspicious that a lot of these resellers suddenly have technical problems when the price tanks. Could be a coincidence. I don't think that is the case with BST. I think they are just overwhelmed. Going to try to buy $1000 off them today and see what happens. I'm almost worried to buy right now though because the price has gone lower than I have seen in months. Not sure if we have hit bottom yet.

You technically have a wallet on localbitcoins and I don't think there'd be an issue sending from your localbitcoins wallet straight to an SR one, but for my own stuff, I use Blockchain.info as an inbetween and generally keep most of coins on Blockchain until I feel like making a transaction on SR. That's only because I don't want to be stuck in a hassle if SR ever goes down (hope it doesn't!).
-
local bitcoins > wallet > bitcoin fog > sr. that's the long safer way of doing it. or you can send straight here. you don't really need to get another wallet but if you want easy to use then blockchain.info is fine.

My times are extremely fast and I'm on nearly 24/7

Use either coinbase or blue sky traders

Ouch at the percentages. Looked good til I saw 10% fee. And I don't understand how the escrow system protects these kinds of transactions. Maybe someone could enlighten me to something simple I just am not seeing. If I give out the moneypak code and amount on it, I am at the mercy of the vendor to send the coins right? That's pretty much an FE situation isn't it?

I'm the cheapest option on Silkroad right now. Especially when the price is at a long time low. I am one of the only ones who offer a quick prompt payment. Yes, the situation is much like FE and it is not supported by silkroad escrow. Yet, I've processed thousands of $ just today alone without a hitch.
-
I hadn't looked at any of the others for percentages. And don't think I am saying I think you would cheat me or anything like that. I can't think of any other way to do it than you are going through SR. With localbitcoins you get that confirmation code but that's really for face to face. So just to make sure I understand, if I get a moneypak for 600 dollars and send it to you I get $540 in bitcoin at the MtGox rate at the time?
-
This tacky shithead is a cop. Don't give him your money.

You've got it dude.

He's even got the lingo down! 'Dude!'

lol, I'm not buying coins for 10%, that's loanshark rates. I was just making sure I understood what his listing is all about. It didn't take long to find that this is highly discouraged here and 9/10 a scam. When he said he's online 24/7 that kinda gave it away. I'll stick to BST and localcoins
-
Im going about it the way girls in the movie springbreakers got their money

Full house quote didn't hit I guess. Ask anyone that's dealt with me, I'm available nearly 24/7. Stick to whoever you please, I could care less.
-
Doesnt BST charge a percent fee also?
I used MoneyHoney before and I only used MH because I had a locked 5% fee when the banks decided to not be involved with bitcoins. I almost used BrianMcGee and got scammed but Gatz was there to save the day.
Francobond, if localbitcoins is as useless as it is to me, then Gatz is def the way to go. Like he said he does have the lowest rates and hes always online. I bought a $550 moneypak card the other day and just like that my money appeared on my account. And Im not in jail, so Im guessing the dudes not a cop.
-
I like SR's "Jumbomonkeybiscuit" but he is 10% also. I think the US Gov. is doing a pretty good job of making it so you have to use an anonymous seller if you want to be an anonymous buyer. And the sellers are probably being/going to be hunted. They probably deserve at least 5% and maybe even 10. If you think 10 is too much, you can always offer 9% and take their business :-)
-
BST charges about 4%
-
i use 'jumbomonkeybiscuit' on SR. 7-11 allows me to fill vanilla reloads with a credit card, so i dont always have to have cash in hand.
have tried bitinstant, its a pretty decent option for me
ive tried localbitcoins, but not with cash. moneygram flagged my purchase as fraud and cancelled it
coinbase is low fee but takes 4 days, that is if they dont flag you as high risk

I also use JMB best on the road. period. dont beleive the bullshit that you cant trust BTC vendors on the road. JMB is str8 up.

Used localcoins today. Tried a few local guys and no one responded, probably working or whatever. Guy popped up with a perfect transaction record doing BoA transfers and the coins were priced just a little above market, not bad at all. Went and made a deposit, confirmed it, and the coins were released from escrow about 60 seconds later at most. Easiest BTC transaction I have ever made. Even though he was a little above market, it wasn't anywhere close to 10%. Somewhere around 4 or 5. I would recommend this service if you choose a supplier wisely and don't have an issue walking into a BoA.
-
Hey everyone, I posted this on the Silk Road Reddit page, I figured it would be relevant here too:
I really don't want this to sound like spam, but if you're wondering where to buy, I just had success with a new service at bitcoin-brokers.org, it was just as easy as Blue Sky (cash deposit @ bank)... Was really nervous using a new method but I had my BTC in my wallet within hours. Anyway, hopefully that helps at least a couple of you
-
Is there anywhere left that takes Wells Fargo cash deposits? I dont have a BoA anywhere near me.

I would it would be a customized transaction. Contact me on the road: Ggatz
-
i have no idea now.. blue sky traders has been down since last week and there's no one in my area with a reasonable price/feedback on localbitcoins.
-
;)
-

Yeah lots of sellers on localbitcoins will do BoA, Wells Fargo, BBVA. The key is to look during normal banking hours. The listing pop up and you gotta act fast because they tend to sell out quick.
-
i use localbitcoins. theres even a guy whos got Regions bank deposits, along with citibank, bank of america, and wells fargo. yeah the percentage is around 10% but going thru the drive thru at the bank is so convenient. i dont mind the fee.
and like someone said before vanilla reload cards are nice too. walgreens, 7/11, etc sells those and you redeem it with a vendor on localbitcoins.
-
BTCmaster..
oh wait.. yall niggas aint on the list hahahahaha
well ima go order up some coins.. NO CHARGE!!!
jk kidding guys i feel bad for yall.. but for real i would be pretty fucking sad if i didnt have a couple plugs on btc..
if i had a bank of America i would go with blueskytraders.. i remember when they were venders on here..
they been around and dont fuck ANYONE over EVER!!

Blue Sky Traders currently has this message up on their website:
"We are currently closed for new trades.
We'll reopen when we clear up our inventory flow issues. We'll post it right here when that happens.
We are very hopeful that it will be tomorrow, but we're very wary of making such promises.
Please refrain from placing orders until we announce availability here on this page. We will take orders only if we have ready inventory, and the Early Order system must now join the others in the extinct systems category. It has ended up causing more issues with customer service than it ever did improving it.
We will try, but may not be able to personally respond to all the email received.
Thanks for your continued patience and support!"

Bitstamp is still an option. It's an exchange as opposed to an individual seller. I don't believe they're terribly anonymous with the account (I don't recall the registration process) but moving your bits shouldn't be a new task for an SR buyer.
-
Yeah BST is out of inventory at the moment. I made a deposit Wednesday (a week ago) and I'm still waiting on coins.
-
Out of inventory, a BTC bank? :o
Have not been into all this for some time.
Nobody mentions instawallet anymore?
-
Can't wait for BST to be back and stocked, these low prices are teasing me. Anyone have alternatives for USA-cash-btc until BST is back?
-
localbitcoins
This..
-
for you people who have done local meetups from localbitcoins.. did you buy from people with feedback? there's a guy nearby selling at $5 under spot, but he has no feedback.. other people around my area do not have feedback as well. i'd like to purchase some coins, but im stil a bit skeptical at this point.
-
I would only deal with people with feedback although I don't know much about local bit coin.
-
yeah, the closest local trader to me is a 2 hour round trip drive.. WITHOUT traffic. not worth it for me to do a local trade.
-
you can do local trade thru a bank. deposit into an account like bitinstant used to do..it gives you a slip
I got bitinstant to work. I am comfortable with that process...i had a separate thread on how I got it to work..with fake info and all

If you meet in person to pay cash for coins, noone needs feedback as the deal gets done right then when you meet. You have to worry they will grab your cash and run, but, I don't think that is at all common. Meet in a public place and do a small trade to get to know the seller. You can set up more than one trade and make sure the first one works before moving on to a larger one. The coins go into your Local wallet quickly and there is a confirmation code that the seller will only know if they released the coins to you. Be sure they "funded" the transaction at least an hour in advance so you know they really have the coins and can release them quickly when you meet.
If you do a deal online thru a bank or cash in the mail or whatever, feedback/reputation is crucial (since you will not have any as a Local newbie) and will likely have to send your part first. There are escrow protection options and vendors with solid reputations. You just have to be careful who you choose.

When you use BOA to send money to Blue sky or a localbitcoin seller do you need to have an account at the branch. The last time I went into a BOA they would not even change money for me w/out an account. I assume a valid DL or other id is necessary?
thanks
-
@upthera - No identification is required. Go in and ask for an out of state deposit form. BoA won't ask for your name or any of your information. BST will give you the information necessary to complete the form and all you do is fill out the form, give the teller your cash, and wait for the BTC to show up.
-
I always tell people to use bitcoin-otc..... I've found some people on there who can do up to $20,000-40,000 in bitcoins per week easily with just a bank deposit or whatever method you want to use. I have even done cash-in-mail for amounts a little less than 5 digits. Find trusted people, none of your information ever gets recorded, etc, very easy.
