Title: NOW OFFERING - Poppy Seeds, grow your own opium!
Post by: RickyRango on June 20, 2012, 11:23 pm
I've put up a new listing for 2 grams of giganteum poppy seeds, which is about 300 individual seeds.  Poppy can be discretely grown and harvested (it looks just like a flower) to get yourself some raw opium.  If you've got the space and ability to grow, then get yourself some seeds!

Not to rain on your parade. But why would people buy these from you at that price when it is easy as hell to acquire grow-able P. Somniferum seeds legally and at a much cheaper rate (even at your local grocer if you know what to look for).

Just saying

Yep. Most poppy seeds available in the spice section at the grocery store are P. Somniferum. And there are a lot of cooking spice companies that don't even take the time time to sterilize their poppy seeds. McCormicks is usually the most reliable if you reside in the US. not to mention you can find them in most gardening seed catalogs under the name "Bread Makers Poppy"

They are only $9.50 for what is basically enough to plant a pretty big garden with.

Poppy seeds are extremely tiny, and this really isn't a bad deal if the species is good in opiate content. If you take good care of them, one gram of poppy seeds can give you 100 plants in the first season, and after that you can allow some heads to riped so you can seed next years crop withough buying more.

Or you could go to a bulk nuts/seeds store and get a pound for like $5.

As a very experienced opium poppy grower, I think that the seeds you get from the grocery store produce fairly sub-par opium. I don't know what specific strain they come from, but in my experience at least, they do have fairly low morphine content. I have my own variety that I've bred from Persian whites and gigantium varieties over the years. High opiate content, and large pods

Would anyone mind posting a link to the seeds, on ebay or where, that they know will work?

Thanks!

:EDIT:

If RickyRango can provide additional information on the seeds that would be awesome to. I just don't want to make a purchase if its perfectly legal and cheaper to do so with Ebay and the same quality.

From what i have read. most of the grocery store poppy seeds are actually bought from the opium producers. who sell the seeds to spice companies to make a little extra income. so there shouldn't be much of a difference in potency except for those caused by growing them in a different environment than what the seeds genetics are used to.
