Title: MAC user desperate for guide to verify tails iso image for DL/install--Help!!
Post by: wednesday adams on August 13, 2013, 06:05 am
Ok, tho I'm not tech savvy, via help from this forum I do know how to DL and burn tails iso image onto a cd, and then intall tails onto a live usb w/a persistant volume and to get my mac os X lto boot to the live usb drive,.....................and that's A LOT.  I use the pgp software that comes on tails and I can use pgp well enough to encrypt imprtant data when I need to, but, right now, I want to DL and install the latest TAILS which includes verifying the iso image, last time, after a good 4 + hours trying to make it work, I just gave up and went ahead while skipping the verification step.  This time, due to recent events etc I am hoping to be able to verify the iso image before doing the DL and install of the upgrade.  I"m running os X ( I think version 10.6), So my question is.........................

Is there ANYONE out there who can give me a step by step guide (keep in mind I"m not a techie or IT person) that will tell me how to verify the iso image on the TAILS upgrade so I can safely DL and install the latest TAILS???  Or, conersely,  snybody  out there think I should just go ahead and DL and install the upgrade w/o freaking out over verifying the iso image?

So far, I have downloaded and installed GPGTools, recommended on the tails website, but tho the DL and install (of GPGTools) says it's successful, and I have restarted the computer, I cannot find nor open GPGTools anywhere on my mac.

If you look at the TAILS website, it has step by step directions for verifying an iso image for the various operating systems, the one for MAC asks you to DL/install GPGTools, then has you open up terminal and use the code lines that you wold use for Linnux (I think)--either way, I follwed those directions exactly and when I enter that code into the terminal I get some type of error message (cant remember exactly--but the machine is not able to understand the code commands at all)

Any help anyone want to give me pm or otherwise is greatly appreciated!!  --sorry for typos!!
