Title: Desperately need help with PGP
Post by: zetacrohn on April 06, 2012, 06:37 am
I have been working on this for 12+ hours, I feel like I am about to cry.  I don't consider myself a dumbass but I guess I may be one because. I. am. Lost.  I went to download pgp, ended up purchasing it.  Then I found the free program....facepalm... Basically I am trying to send my guy I purchased something from my addy to ship.  Yet I have no idea what to do.  I will go into a email client copy, encrypt...and then it asks for my information again??????

I don't have a clue.

My seller has not disclosed a email address and I don't know if that is what I need....I am very very lost, and very very frustrated.  Someone please help me.

There's step by step threads

You cut + paste the encrypted text into the window that asks for your address here when you checkout.
You encrypt it using the seller's public key, which you import. They should have one in their listing or if you click their name/profile

Its really simple once you do it once.

Once you download and install the software. Use the step by step above to get your own public and private key generated.

Once you have GPA set up its as simple as copying a vendors public key and pasting it in notepad. Save the file and then import it using GPA. (click import then chose the saved file)

Their public key will now be displayed on your GPA key manager. Now you have to make sure they have your public key by clicking on your public key (on the key manager page) and hitting export.

It will ask you what program to use to open this with so choose notepad as well. Copy and paste that (your public key) into a message and send it to the vendor so they can encrypt messages that will be sent to you for decryption.

Your public key is used by the vendor to encrypt messages to you and their key is used to encrypt messages to them.

If u want to encrypt a message like your address go to the clipboard (look on your GPA Key manager toolbox for the clipboard tab) and write the message. Simply click encrypt and when prompted chose the persons (recipient of the messages) public key.

The message is now encrypted and only the intended recipient (who's public key you imported) will be able to decrypt and read the message. You can now copy and paste it (encrypted message)wherever necessary (PM, etc.).

If they send you an encrypted message in return, copy and paste it in your clipboard. Simply click decrypt and it will ask for you for your pass phrase. Enter it and your message is now decrypted and good to go.

Hope this helps. Good luck.
