Once you finalize a buy, it no longer shows up in the orders, right? It only shows the "in transit" status when it has not yet been finalized, right? I'm just making sure all is normal, I'm new at this.

Yes. And you should never under any circumstances finalize before the package arrives.

Nonsense.
If that's your own personal rule then by all means continue, but putting that about here will only lead to paranoia. If you're buying from a high ranked reputable vendor, finalising early is 100% fine.
-
Finalizing early also protects the seller a bit more.

The people who participated in toyotaman's "sale" this week beg to differ.

finalise or dont?????
so confusing for a newbe
i have how ever noticed that sellers with good rep and good review seem to merit the fe BIT..

It's all about where you stand on the Trust <--------> Safety continuum. You can trust the vendors and FE to them or you can be safe and use the escrow service for which you are being charged for and release money when you get the product. It's personal preference.

Didn't hear about that, what happened? Was he well respected/good feedback?

9 month member with 100% feedback, yeah, he took a lot of us that thought it was "safe". Only speaking for myself but I will NEVER FE again.

I've never ordered from him myself so I won't pretend to know the specifics, but I'll refer you to this thread

This isn't the first time a similar such thing has happened. Vendors gain trust over a period of time and then have a "sale" where they require all orders to finalize early, and then run off with the money.
Even with just regular purchases there is no reason to finalize early, there are new threads every week where somebody talks about how they lost hundreds and learned the hard way, but everyone seems to think they are invincible. There is absolutely no benefit to finalizing early, it is an unnecessary risk plain and simple. But this horse has been beaten to death forever now.
I think the only reason people still do this is in hopes that getting on a vendors good side will get them free drugs.

I did FE on my first order because that was the only way I could get this vendor to do business with a new buyer. It's a chance I'm willing to take for now. After I establish a record of being a good buyer, I will not be so willing to FE. I certainly don't think I'm invincible, but I really want to find someone that just does honest business, and unfortunately the buyers have earned just as shitty if not a shittier reputation on SR. I think finalizing early is a calculated risk that sometimes is what must be done. No matter who you order from you stand the chance of not getting shit and if you ask for a refund it hurts your rating as a buyer. It's not a perfect system, but it's as good as it can be. If people weren't so fucking dishonest it would not be this way, but people suck, for the most part.
I really feel okay with the vendor I released early to. I feel like it will be okay. What else can I do? Every other option left me feeling even more like I would get ripped off.
