Title: Run your own anonymous bitcoin shop
Post by: Exotic on July 10, 2012, 11:04 am
Hi,
I offer my 10 years of programming experience to the vendors of SR.
I am currently in the process of coding shop system, that I want to open-source, and sell my services as maintainer of the project and webmaster of the individual sites.
My highest priorities are security and anonymity.

I want to know if the vendors of SR have any interest whatsoever regarding this, and if so, feature-requests are highly welcome  8)

Personally, I'm very interested in this and would love to use this when it comes out however, I don't think it's suited to vendors at all for the pure fact that Silk Road would just be more superior than any one vendor.

Silk Road is better because if we had to visit a vendors shop, we as the buyers, have zero protection from the buyers.

That being said, Exotic, please don't give up on this, I really do want to see the finished product, I'd just rather vendors stay on here!

I think you need to go into to a little more detail as to exactly what you are doing. You post is vauge at best.

Thanks for the heads up. I do realize that SilkRoad will be superior in most cases, it's probably for bigger vendors who would like more control.

I realize the vagueness of my post, reason being that the project is in it's starting phase. I was coding a clone of SilkRoad, but I realized that the need for it is basically non-existing.
The project is as mentioned with bigger and trusted vendors in mind, who wants to have more control over their business.
Let me give you some technical details about what I'm working on, and features I'm planning:

I'm coding the shopping system from the ground up in Python, using the Pyramid framework and MongoDB as database. I see this as a very secure solution.
Feature list:
*Everything anonymized through Tor
*Complete control over the shops layout and products
*Cooperation with an external bitcoin mixer (internal mixing seems kinda pointless and dangerous to me at this point, thoughts on this are welcome)
*Automatic MtGox-rate synchronization like SilkRoad
*Encrypted database and bitcoin data files
*Ability to backup everything (wallet.dat and database)
*Automatic notification of orders through instant messaging protocols like XMPP. Or IRC for example, all through Tor.

You should chuck it up on GitHub.
