Hey hey!
Do you really need photo ID to lease an Auspost PO Box?
The application says you can use two forms of document ID that show your address, what ID will they accept. I can't find any info on their site that states what you can use.
Thanks!

Mate I wouldn't be going this way. This is way to risky as you have to go into the po to get and sign for the keys.
Just some advise

I'm of the complete opposite opinion. :)
Just signup for a legit PO Box with all your details, nothing tricky or dodgy. If the worst were to happen you don't want some form of identity fraud added on.
The benefits far outweigh the negatives in my opinion.
First of all, you won't be handing out your home address to anyone anymore. This is something that I would never do and is the main reason I have a PO Box.
Secondly, you will most likely receive mail addressed to previous owners of the box which can be used to your advantage. Think about it. I have received mail for at least FOUR previous owners.
Once you have your box, get yourself on as many mailing lists as possible. You know things like product catalogs, competitions, etc. Sometimes you might want to give these "spammers" a slight variation of your real name. This is so the PO gets used to seeing legitimate mail coming in with small typo errors. Don't keep using the same "altered" name all the time though, make sure you use your real name a lot aswell.
Make sure your vendors are sending packages that do not have to be signed for. You don't want to have to go into the PO and sign for something you know is illicit. Trust me. Very stressful.
Also, there are a range of sizes of boxes so it may be prudent to opt for a medium or large box if you can spare the coin but a small box will do just as well if you are only receiving small amounts.
Look, if you can find a steady, reliable supply of drop houses then by all means go down that route but if you were planning on using your home address for deliveries then a PO Box is the way to go.
Anyway, this is just my opinion but it's how I operate and I've been pretty successful so far.

Interesting approach but do you have to give details of your current address when signing up to get a po box ? I would have thought they could easily link your identification you give upon registering to work out where you reside?
This is the most positive approach i have heard from someone with a po box though lol
-
Enddox I hear what your saying mate, but think about this. You package gets seized by customs, your name or slight Change to your name is on the package, the box is registered in your name. How do you state you didn't order the package?
If you send to a safe house (even your own house) under a different name you then can obviously say not mine.
This is just my opinion, if the PO box works for you then awesome, I just wouldn't go down this path.

Interesting one. The only reason I'd be looking for a PO is to get around the potential for having to sign for something. The post around my area has been pretty random, for a while there 100% of packages were ending up at the post office no matter how big they were. Now I've even had large packages be delivered to my house and require meeting the postie at the door but no signature reqd.
Also theres one thing thats just popped up in my area - www.parcelchamps.com.au - the shop can take package deliveries for you instead. It sounds shit with the amount of ID required but it might be something worth looking into.
I was never really keen for a PO because of the ID requirement myself and then the cost on top but I suppose there could be some benefits. Its clearly not going to eliminate all risk though.

Basically whatever you can do with a house mailbox you can do with a PO BOX with the MAJOR exception that with a PO BOX you never having to reveal your home address to vendors. Personally, there are so many benefits to this one point that it makes the whole thing worthwhile for me.
If you wish to use a fake name to your own house and customs grab it and then you say "it's not mine, it's not even my name", then there is no reason you couldn't use the same defense with a PO BOX. The same dangers apply in my opinion. Even with my own name I can say that I did not order it or someone is playing a prank or more seriously trying to get me in trouble with the law. Who knows whether any of this would be useful as a defense?
I think everyone realises that it's not really the final destination that is the problem whether it be PO BOX or home mailbox. The main danger for OS orders is Customs (and/or the AFP) and if they are serious about it then all these little tricks we use are probably not going to help a helluva lot.
I think I mentioned it in another thread somewhere but another pro of using a PO BOX is for privacy's sake in the case of local vendors. How would you feel if a deal with a local vendor went bad and you knew he had your address. What if he lived in the same city, suburb, even street! Wouldn't that make you nervous? It would me. I don't want a "gang" of his cronies rocking up to my house looking to sort out that bad feedback once and for all. :D
Anyway, it's really just a personal preference. Everywhere I've lived since I was about 16 I have had a PO BOX. Not because I needed it but because I wanted it. To me, it's kind of like a silent telephone number.

+10 enddox:)
Gotta love those previous PO Box renters. I have about 4 different names I can use :) Especially when you have their mail sitting at home to 'return to sender'(just make sure it is not in the freezer if the cops come and ask for it)
Make sure there is definitely no chance that the previous renter has a divert on their mail.
Like wait a month or 2. If you are still getting dribs and drabs of their mail there is a good chance there isnt a divert.

Thats the big one, it would suck big time if they put a redirect on the box! I know when I have changed, it's the first thing I do, so be careful!
Hey Novocaine are you getting anymore shrooms in stock?
-
I know I keep saying this and I really would love to have stock, but its in dribs and drabs.
I am too busy atm to do some bulk grows, my other source has gone to have tea and scones in wonderland and I have not really put the feelers out to see if anyone else I know has some.
If you or anyone else is keen for some home grown I really encourage you to look into growing your own.
Start - BRF tech/tek (brown riceflour tech) check out 'lets grow mushrooms' on youtube check out the shroomery.org get supplies from internet/supermarket/http://aussimushroomsupplies.com
Prepare for some disappointment with all your hard work
Start getting the hang of growing smaller personal amounts with BRF tek then move onto bigger bulk grows.
Its an awesome, rewarding hobby if you have patience.
List on SR and I will buy from you;)
Flick me a PM with any questions and I will help you out if I can.

Nothing wrong with using your PO Box for legit mail as well... why not, you paid for it, and more traffic is good, no need for 'spam' either...
I agree with you enddox, previous leasers, renters, owners is a great strategy I've employed, if they're too fucking lazy, or clueless to forward their mail, why not? Their bad...my advantage!
You could use your physical addy with a previous occupier, besides, on SR, who is to know 'you' live at your actual home address? You get my drift?
There are a few other ways to use neighbors addresses without getting them into the shit, but still covering your own tracks, but i'll leave you to work it out for yourselves... LEO lurk here my friends...
