Title: Faking reviews?
Post by: pepomaze66 on August 07, 2013, 02:42 pm
Hey,
Searched the forum for those keywords but didn't find anything.

Is it possible for a vendor to fake his reviews? I'm asking since sometimes I see double and triple review (the same one) , as if someone pressed "submit" too many times, but i would think there's protection against such a thing when reviewing.

What im basically asking is - can a review be written by a vendor and make himself reach high levels like (99) and (100) ?

Should I base my vendor choice only by forum reviews?

Thanks in advance.

Yes, a vendor can fake reviews. But, he would have to set up orders with himself or people he would know. Those repeats you see are probably multiple orders from the same person, writing the same thing for each. If a vendor has a lot of feedback, then you are probably safe to order with that person. It would be really hard to do that much fake feedback. Plus it only lasts for a certain period of time.

And if they are caught, they lose their account and (Vendor bond if new). It's not worth it for a vendor to go through all the trouble to fake review given how the feedback algorithm works. And it would cost the vendor a lot of coin with no guarantee of a return on his efforts.
