Title: Bitcoin exchanges and TOR
Post by: soyyo1114873 on June 08, 2013, 12:14 pm
Hello, folks, does anybody know for sure of any bitcoin exchanges that permit registering and using via TOR? Preferably that also let sell bitcoins for US dollars rather than for Euros.

Thanks much.

I think they are all pretty strict about Tor.

BitInstant hasn't given me a problem w/ TOR, but I usually use all USA exits.

[replace hxxp:// with http://]

Edit: Of course, now BitInstant doesn't have the cash deposit option it did only earlier this week. Bummer, at least until I find another way to buy btc.

Abbie, could you please explain the rationale behind using a specific country as an exit node? Does that somehow make the exchange or whatever not flag you for using tor? I want to get to brass tacks on this.

Thanks.

Bitstamp.net. I have used them exclusively over Tor with no issues. They also use USD.

Using three USA exits seemed to get me logged in to GreenDot, though I don't recall experimenting without exits a lot. It still got me into GD a couple of weeks ago, but I'm not even sure that GreenDot is checking for tor.

I'm going to try that again with BitInstant and see if it allows a cash deposit. I know it did just a week or so ago, w/ USA exits. Sorry to not have any definitively useful info, but it looks like I may have to figure something out myself before I make mt next btc purchase (and that will be soon, since I needs my buds and Cheeba Chews!)
