if you're on methadone you will get precipitated withdrawals if you take bupe, and from what I have been told it's worse than withdrawal from any other opi.

even in a drug detox, they will tell you not to take bupe after meth for at least 24-36 hours, and even then only if you are on a dose of 30mg methadone or lower.

bupe is great for stopping withdrawal but you have to use it correctly. I sometimes use them for a few days when I have been on a big H binge.

It's a popular misconception that precipitated withdrawals are caused by Naloxone. They are in fact caused by the buprenorphine itself because it has such a high affinity to the receptors.

Switching from methadone to bupe is notoriously difficult without experiencing precipitated withdrawals. The 24-36 hour wait which microboilie mentioned is more aimed towards short acting opiates, namely heroin, rather than long half-life ones such as methadone. With methadone's long half-life you need to wait much longer. The general rule with bupe induction is to not take bupe before you're in definite withdrawals. And I don't mean a bit of sniffles. Wait for the hardcore symptoms to start (wait until you cannot take it anymore) and then dose the bupe. That's why it's hard with meth... you have to wait a LONG time.

Btw OP - it's Buprenorphine not Buperinorphine

Yea im on methadone daily, Im suppose to take 100mg a day but i only take 30 to 40mg.. It sent me right into with drawl and it was very very bad!!  Thank god i only sniffed 2mg if that, but i thought i was gonna die, my mind was just going nuts and my body.. I went to rehab last year and i snuck in 8 methadones and 5 8mg suboxone strips and when i ran out of taking 10mg a day for a while the next day late in the after noon i took the suboxeone strip and i didnt get sick.. I never got sick but i felt weird in the head the whole time i took it, i split them down into halfs and almost made it 28 days but i think i ran out a week before i left.. The rehab i went to was just to learn the 12steps it wasnt a detox..

Going in to withdrawals is now my biggest fear. Once you experience that horror ...it just seems to stick with you.  I always thought it was the Naloxone in Suboxone that caused the withdrawals too. Good information to now know it is the Bupe itself. It's so important to have the facts straight when it comes to this. A few years back I was on 160mgs of Methadone daily and my doctor wanted to give me Suboxone and told me to start taking it right away. I was amazed at his ignorance.... thank God I knew better.  I wound up using Fentanyl to get myself all the way down off the methadone but am now faced with what seems an even tougher situation. How to get off a ridiculously high dose of the Fent?
Has anyone had success with using Bupe to get off high dose Fentanyl usage? Although I do have plenty of Methadone still available and have tried using that.... it just doesn't seem to help with trying to kick the Fentanyl.  That to me is scary because I always thought Methadone would always work to get off any opiate but Fent seems to be in a different category.
My apologies if this is a bit off topic. Any input would be appreciated.  Much thanks!

I would think the methadone would help no matter what.. And like the other post said u have to pretty much start being super fucking sick before taking the subutex, And its sooo fucking expensive i really dont see how people can afford it...I get 300 10mg dones a mnth for 80 bucks..

In which form were you taking the fent?...and is fent a practiced form of maintenance for opiate addicts?...at the risk of sounding stupid, what is Fentanyl prescribed for generally?
