Title: Vendor FE parameters
Post by: Fbu on September 24, 2012, 11:27 pm
There should be some sort of parameters that vendors could choose to show their shipping policies. i.e. require FE for under $1000 spent or 1 month membership etc etc.

This way we could then sort by who requires FE or not. Half the time I look through shit and they require FE even though I'm well established. I'd like the option to not show any vendors requiring it. Nobody buys from those vendors anyway. It'd force all those vendors who are sketchy about FE to not require it if they want to show up on everyone's list.

Just an idea that could be worked on q:

I think it's a somewhat good idea, but how can DPR implement that when according to SR rules finalizing early is looked down upon? They would be in essence supporting something they don't believe in.

honestly i would look for better vendors if your established you shouldnt need to FE. I only require FE when the buyer chooses a shipment method without tracking and has low feedback like under $500 <10 sales, >10% refund,

Well the fact is it happens alot, some pragmatism is called for I think. Acknowledging that it happens is not the same as supporting it.

I like the thought of changing the escrow period time frame between domestic and international shipments...now of course that would get rid of "undeclared" country members such as how my account is set. But if a US vendor sells to a US buyer, the (17 day?) escrow period is excessive for vendors to have to wait, so this pressures them into requiring FE based on low/no buyer history (a real bitch for people like me who use new buyer accounts frequently). The original escrow period could remain unchanged for international orders (because lets face it, they take longer). So if a domestic order had something like 5 days before resolution were open and 7 days for autofinalization, then the vendors wouldn't have to stress about having their money tied up for weeks on end. I really do feel bad for vendors who have their money tied up because of dickheads that don't finalize in a timely manner. I also advocate for a required 3 day wait time before finalization can occur (across the board)

FE based on bad stats is an entirely different animal though, and I don't think vendors will ever stop that requirement, but I suggest they don't do business with bad stat buyers...and I know sometimes "bad" stats aren't always the buyers "fault", but both parties have to be somewhat accommodating for each other.

I have said it before, and I will say it here again, I doubt that scam buyers have stolen a fraction of what any FE scam seller has taken from anyone. (even if we exclude tony76) I would be interested to hear some figures from the vendor community that back up their FE requirements.
