I would love to know if there is any correlation to the rise of SR and the decline in drug related crime, if there has been any. Someone enlighten me on this!
-
i don't think that there is a difference on the street level, people still buy and steal drugs of highly discussable quality from street vendors.
but i think the difference is for us, people who buy, and sometimes sell, on SR. from the substances we buy which are, most of the time, of higher quality, to the delivery methods used, all of this keeps us from the street market and the ''dangers'' it represents.
-
That's what I mean, anonymity is keeping many users away from street scams and possible danger, it could be saving lives!
-
certainly making buyers safer from the violence/threats/robbery possibilities.. and makes sellers/vendors nearly immune to getting busted being seen doing a hand to hand/ratted out to LE
-
That statistic you mentioned would be near impossible to measure. But I would bet as an overall trend that it does make a dent.
-
Nothing is impossible, just to get an idea you can simply track national as well as local drug related crime rates from the time that SR was launched to the present! I'm not saying its a major dip, I agree that it has to at least be a dent!
-
It has to improve safety of robberies and scams but it also improves safety from LE by a ridiculous amount.
So its a two-fold increase in safety, and there are probably a lot more factors we aren't even thinking about haha.
-
i could see how cutting out the violent black market dealers would make it safer.
No one i know knows about this site though

SR is a much better place,
Other ppl that I've been dealing with, these gypsies did their dealing very well. but when me and other ppl known by the gypsies found out about this, Silk Road, we came here and we stayed here.
Main reason to stay on SR: You don't have to deal with those stupid, pothead, cracker-ass crackdealers in real life.
No trouble, no violence, nothing.
The thing on SR though is to have control and feel safe about your money, as well as your security (I'm considering your country's law enforcement).
Regards,

Not to get off topic, but I love your name haha. Finally saw the hobbit the other day, liked it a lot more than any of LoTR movies.
But yeah I wish I could keep this site from people I know and just be super greedy heh. Of course that's selfish but we all like to make money and be able to afford a crazy amount of personal drugs for super low prices. I've only had a few friends in my circle find out about SR, hopefully it stays to a bare minimum.

Hehe no prob, The Hobbit was way better that earlier Lotr movies. I soooo wanted to see the continuation when the movie ended!!!!!! Damnit!
Sure man. I am the only one in my friend circle that knows about SR and I try to keep it that way. If more ppl talk about it, sooner or later there will be more problems involving SR.
Selling is superb. It feels very anonymous and buyers are always serious pals that are equal-minded compared to me. Full respect to all SR users. Zero respect to the douchbag dealers on the street doing the other stuff aswell, such as blackmailing and shit.
pz out!

Too many variables in that. Like hundreds more. You could narrow it down to just people who order off the road and resell, but even then there are a lot more variables than could be taken into account. For instance I would bet you the % of white people that use the road is unproportionally large compared to all drug users. Deep down inside, we are all computer nerds that could never use a gun to harm people.

Not me, I'm a computer geek that loves playing computer games and such
But also I love to see blood flowing for some reason. Like when I finally got to hunt with one of my friends, he shot a deer and we hunted it down until it's legs gave up. So while it was lying there suffering, I gladly used the huge knife I brought. I sliced it's throat and it started bleed like hell, huge amount came out. That was AWESOME! Would do anything to see that again. If I had a gun, I'd use it on someone who deserved it, but mostly just for personal pleasure.
Besides that I also like drugs.

Great topic! I would agree with much of what was said here. The guy who is out there robbing people in the street isn't typically the type that would fare well in this venue, but I imagine the short/long con artists have been busy racking their brains for the best ways to exploit this opportunity. Now as far as keeping potential victims off the street, dunno if that would pull the numbers down much as those crimes often go unreported unless someone ends up dead. The amount of drug arrests are unlikely to change much on a street level either, as the game for buyers, sellers and LE in that setting will continue to be driven by instant gratification.

There's variables in every study. I'm just using that as a starting point. Hell I don't believe in any study that is put out, I just wanna hear that the number has gone down, and that will be enough for me. Even if it has nothing to do with SR, in my head it will all b because of SR!

I doubt it has made one bit of difference to the population as a whole. It has not made a difference for me. I don't buy drugs off of the street so that is all there is to it. It has made more choices for me and I can back off of the doctors a bit.
The dumb ass kids are still selling drugs across the street from my house at the park. I watch them and think of robbing them every now and then just because I know they have little recourse. But not really worth the drama.
Every now and then my wife calls the cops on them as the neighborhood is supposed to be clear of this shit and the park playground should be for kids. I go do a walk through afterwards to see if there is a tossed stash but all I have ever found and destroyed are crack pipes.
I wish all drugs were sold responsibly on the internet, or that they were just fucking legalized.
My wife doesn't care that they are selling drugs, it is the bullshit that comes along with it she wants out of here. The cops rarely even get out of their cars. They are pretty lazy here and for that I am grateful.

How can you say it has made a difference for you, but no difference to the population? You are part of the population my man. This could be just the beginning, maybe this is the beginning of a new age, this could be the future, and we all know great change comes on slow!

1/7billion rounds to zero.
everybody on sr/7billion rounds to zero.
Statistically speaking of course. When speaking about safer streets you are speaking statistically.
I will admit that this would have been great when I was a teenager and in my early 20's. I mean it is great now, but back then I would choose to go into some pretty sketchy places to cop dope from sketchy people. Putting god only knows into my veins with no type of review system other than word of mouth for sellers and product.
I love that I can buy things I would otherwise write off getting, that there is a forum to discuss vendors and products and that the whole thing is pretty safe as long as I don't do too much and flop.
-
Ill point out that your math is wrong, but as far as my original question was posed you are right. Maybe it hasn't put a dent in the statistics, but eventually it will. Anonymous deals are the future, unless drugs are decriminalized everywhere and I don't see that happening anytime soon!
-
SR doesn't have enough business to make the streets safer in any noticeable way. However, it definitely makes things safe for those who use SR. Power to those who are enlightened I suppose.
-
Probably, about 3% safer. :)
-
I think it has increased the safety for the savvy buyer/vendor. Harm reduction is a major issue with illicit substances. Most of the overdoes, poisonings etc, could be mitigated with accurate purity and dose standards. Unfortunately, most people in general ,especially dealers are not typically honest.Of course, adulteration or substitution obviously happens on the SR, but most buyers have the necessary testing kits, or can read reviews from people who do. As far as vendors go, If they are staying consistent and clever about their methodology, they will be very safe. I know people who have been mailing green from out west for years. They only problem arises, when someone is under surveillance or they fuck up the concealment process.

I believe it is a safer venue, than Craigslist....yes craiglist, where I ended after I started out with people I knew, fronting large amounts, then not getting paid the agreed to price, the buyer "friend" always had some excuse as to why he couldn't pay in full.
Next I used a broker, again fronting, again long periods of time to be paid, again shorting me on the final amounts.
Finally I used craigslist, made quite alot of cash, BUT always on edge. I did meet at least 10 plus real good folks, few I've become friends with, dinner at each other homes, etc. but those were not enough people to purchase product to keep me in business, so I kept running ad's and then I met some not so nice people.
I met idiots that would always show up late, or be short on the agreed price by say 10-15 bucks. Or not even show up after contacting you all day about getting product. PLUS I was robbed by two guys for a large quantity, the only time I was robbed, but once was enough.
So to end I'm looking forward to providing people with product and letting people know what they are getting, not claiming my product is always "fire" etc. Sometimes it really is excellent, then other times the strain is only good not great. soooo hopefully people will respond, time will only tell.

Great story. Take this from someone who has been on the streets his entire life. I'm gonna make it short and sweet. I have witnessed people getting killed over nonsense, revolving around drugs. One life not wasted over bs is good enough for me!
-
I would guess the people using SR wouldn't be the type who rob steal etc, it seems to be a purists marketplace

There are theories in math that go beyond that, so that means nothing to me!

Ill put it this way! I could have been a statistic out on those streets! Don't tell me that the streets ain't safer!
-
honestly i just don't think enough people are on here to make a statistical dent. its a good thing though
-
i dunno how it is in your country, but in mine, drug dealers protect their customers. If somebody tries to harm or steal from them, you'll get in trouble
-
Probably, about 3% safer. :)
Thank You! This is what I advocate! safer is safer, the only way to keep a place like SR going is to make as least damage as possible, but do more good!
