is there anything you can do, or any drug you can take in conjunction with lsd, to prevent your jaw and back from getting tense?
sometimes the jaw tension almost ruins my trip.
-
Chew gum? I don't really get jaw tension, more in my back and muscles. Massages help with this and feel amazing.

do you think marijuana would help? i don't smoke marijuana but i am willing to buy some if it helps reduce muscle tension while on LSD.

Chew gum, ice, or have cigarettes handy. Always helped me :)

How could I forget, chew ice! Just get a big cup. At venues when I go on LSD I ask the people selling drinks for a big cup of ice. Sometimes I get a strange look but they always give it to me lol

It wont take it completely away but if its a heavy indica it should help a bit, either way I always smoke with psychedelic, brings them out.

I know that many users of MDMA supplement with magnesium in an attempt to alleviate bruxism. I'm not sure how much evidence supports this, and I haven't tried it yet, but many claim it works wonders; the guy who runs TheDEA.org points out that it makes some sense because "Mg++ ions are involved in controlling nerve firing."
Perhaps a muscle relaxer would be effective? Take that suggestion with a grain of salt and do your research first, because I haven't. A cursory Google turns up this thread (clearnet!): shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/14191015. In it, someone provided the following information:
Vasoconstriction is one of the causes, but more likely it's regular muscle tension. The 5-HT2A receptors are directly responsible for muscle tension. In fact, most muscle relaxers work by antagonizing this receptor. As a psychedelic, LSD is an agonist. It causes the opposite of muscle relaxation. I find that if I keep myself distracted, I don't really notice it. But I get it on all psychedelics. Ever wonder why it feel so good to stretch when you're tripping? Stretching releases Nitric Oxide which is a powerful muscle relaxer. Taking some vitamin pills for a few days before your trip should also help.

I get it every time, I have never caught myself grinding my teeth but I wouldn't be surprised if I do, but when the trip gets intense I bite down as hard as I possibly can. Drives me nuts as well, hurts my jaw just thinking about.
I always smoke a bowl after I peak, it generally induces another wave but I still clamp my jaw down. I haven't really tried many things to help it, but I find if I lay down on my side, ie on the couch looking at the TV, then it goes away.

tony's gave me jaw tension, 3jane's gave me jaw tension, all the best reviewed LSD here gave me jaw tension, as well LSD that i've got locally. I've never had LSD not give me some kind of muscle tension. It's LSD itself that causes muscle tension, not the quality of the LSD.

You may be sensitive, but in general, the better quality the crystal, the fewer somatic effects.

yes, the quality of the crystal can certainly produce varying somatic (and psychological) effects, but muscle tension has always been a commonly reported effect of LSD.

ALBERTO DIMASCIO; MILTON GREENBLATT; ROBERT W. HYDE
Am J Psychiatry 1957;114:309-317.
Heart rate increased and became more stable, systolic and diastolic blood pressures were elevated, pulse pressure rose, MUSCLE TENSION MOUNTED, skin temperature tended to drop, breathing became faster and more variable, the inspiration/respiration ratio decreased and became more variable, and pupillary dilation occurred.

Get VitaCat's ;) Those weren't the best reviewed, those were just the cheapest and got the most buys. Usually LSD that is dosed at 250-300 µg is higher quality than your usual 70-100 µg stuff.

Part of taking LSD though, is going to be the muscle tension. Get moving— do some running and you'll run better than you've ever run. Or do some meditation, or something sexual or artistic. Get a massage. The tension will stop bothering you.

I take Magnesium and Diphenhydramine to relieve the majority of body loads from most drugs and it works for me. I used to grind my teeth at night as well but that stopped too. :D

i tried magnesium, and it worked

Just magnesium supplements? Good to know, I'll definitely try it. It's one of those things that bothers me when I'm tripping but by the time my trip is over I don't even think about it, let alone research how to alleviate it.
Thanks for the info.

:D
Adding that supplement to my vita list. (I think my multi has some in there already)
Good to know, thanks!

Yes magnesium works like a charm, virtually stops me from 'chewing' when taking xtx/mdma too.

Interesting, I would never have considered DPH, thanks for that. You don't find it makes you a bit sleepy? I guess psychedelics often have so much energy behind them, it overrides the tiredness effect.

Well I only take 50mg of DPH so it's hardly enough to cause drowsiness, but it does help with the body load because I normally get a horrible load from taking +2mg of 25i-NBOMe. :D

Yes, just 300 mg of magnesium (with 100ug of LSD). It made all my muscles even more relaxed than they are without any drugs. Next time I think I'll try only 100 mg, because I felt slightly ill to the stomach, although I am not sure if it was because of the magnesium.

What worked OK for me was tro take a fair amount of Vit C & drink lots of water. I had heard that jaw-clenching was from strychnine made a a by-product, but I have no proof of this part.
