Title: TAILS and PGP
Post by: tooconscious on November 26, 2012, 12:08 am
Anyone here using tails instead of liberte? Are you using a vpn with it or just relying on TOR? Finally, what's a good pgp tool for tails?

I use Tails and use the tor browser that is built in.  Also, has stated above Tails has a built-in PGP tool under applications --> gedit.

Remember that every session's info is lost each time so you have to put your PGP info onto a separate USB stick and add that to the tails amnesia folder each time you boot.

Guru explains this very well on the bottom of the 1st page of the PGP club thread.

If you have any other questions, message me

Just put gpg4usb in your Persistent directory and run start_linux.

the latest tails already has pgp built in - you don't need to install anything else to use it.

when you boot into tails, do the following to use built-in pgp (nb: i boot into tails on usb and use a persistent volume):

1.  navigate to system/preferences/passwords and encryption keys and when it opens, create your own public/private key using file/new/pgp key (i use rsa, 4096 bits, and use a LONG and hard to remember password - remember, pgp is virtually USELESS if you use short, easy to guess, passwords - i suggest not using one you use IRL either as you can guarantee these will be tried by LE!);
2. go to sr and copy the sellers public key, then paste it into gedit before saving it to a file on your persistent volume (i use sellername.pub for the filename, but you can use what you like);
3. go back to 'passwords and encryption keys' and choose file/import to import the saved public key into your keyring;
4. go to file/new in gedit to create a new workspace and type your message;
5. highlight the text you've just typed and then select edit/encrypt (if you don't highlight the text you will get an error);
6. check the checkbox against the public key for the seller and click ok.

your message should then be encrypted using the public key of the seller. copy and post this into the address field in your order and you should be sweet!

you do not need to complete step 1 if you only want to use pgp for ordering.

consider deleting the public keys from your keyring and persistent volume after placing an order to reduce any evidence of who you have dealt with on sr - you can always get them again.

hope this helps!

it can be cracked.

Everything can and will be "cracked"...

Fake ID, throwaway accounts/phones, "employees", etc.

Thanks for the update, Snowden. I mean "Whistleblowers".
