Title: VPN -> TOR -> VPN.....Am i creating a correlation attack?
Post by: railroadbill on September 20, 2013, 11:23 pm
I want to use a vpn to hide my tor usage from my isp, but i need a vpn on the exit side to mask tor from the site im accessing, if my vpn is both my first hop and my last would they be able to do a correlation attack even though my connected is encrypted?

Just tunnel Tor through the VPN and use entry nodes in the VPN country. Also use cover traffic (to make correlation harder) and make sure Tor doesn't start before the VPN connection is established.
The Whonix tutorial in my signature explains how to create cover traffic with Transmission.

well that doesnt really solve the "im trying to hide my exit node from the site im using" problem, just the "im trying to hide my tor usage from my isp" problem. is there any way to solve both? i was thinking bridges but i assume all bridges are easily enumerated.
