Title: Ordering Products From a Hotel
Post by: Miles Prower on April 14, 2012, 03:38 am
Has anyone here had any experience getting products delivered to a hotel room? Since they receive the packages at the front desk it seems quite a bit more risky. Any special precautions one might take, or any suggestions?

Too dangerous, I would recommend just getting a PO box when you arrive there
Costs only an extra $25-50 worth it imho

Actually doesn't seem too risky to me, I mean isn't it a federal offense to open someones mail? but maybe it doesnt count since its their hotel

You're trusting the front counter clerk to not open it, who knows maybe they are new employees and open up everything.
Would be interesting to hear if anybody tried this.

I'll tell you, every year me and 5 of my boys from different parts of the country do an annual Vegas trip- have been for the past several years, 3 nights and 4 days. Each year my boy will get us an order of 25 x tabs and he will have a friend of ours ship it to the hotel we will be staying at and call the front desk prior to and ask them if there is anything special they need notated so that his mail gets delivered correctly. They will typically (and usually specifically)state make sure the name and room number are correct so the package stays secure and need not be opened- they will state this specifically. To give you an idea of his shipping method, he will usually get a magazine, something like that Harpers, etc and line them in the binder portion in the inside, close it and put to thing mags like Esquire on the top of bottom so nothing moves.

I've read on the forms that SR sellers are not huge fans of doing overnight shipping, however this is how he does this and not once has the package gone undelivered or look to have been tampered with. Just an idea and good luck if you decide to do it but 3 out of 3 years is pretty good. Our annual trip is coming up soon so here's to hoping for 4 our of 4.

This isn't anymore risky than sending it to your house.  I've done this twice, witch success both times, through SR.  It's a hell of a lot better than trying to bring anything with you on a plane and a hell of a lot better than trying to find shit when you're a stranger in town.

I guess the big risk is that your mail is delayed, and it shows up after you leave :(

Just call the hotel ahead of time and ask them how the package needs to be addressed.  I picked mine up at the Concierge desk.

Cheers,

I sometimes get shit sent to motels, and somewhat unorthodox living places...but I always figure it's on me, if it doesn't show.  I had a 1/2 g sent to a bit of a weird address and it didn't arrive.  I gave it a week, but then I finalized anyway.  I like trying different and maybe safer setups, but I never make the vendor ride it, if it doesn't  come thru....it's on me.  I mean, I'll pm vendor, look at feedback, and if I'm reasonably sure his other shit's showing up, then I have to bite the bullet and finalize anyway.

I travel quite a bit. Up to 7 months out of the year, in fact.  I have items shipped to me at hotels all the time.  I usually call ahead, speak with the Manager (or upon check-in) to inform them that I am expecting a package and to let me know when it arrives.  I see no reason why a shipment from SR would be any different, especially if it's a letter or smaller sized package.  People receive documents at hotels all the time.  However, ordering bulk to a hotel would be.... well.... fucking stupid.  ::)
