Title: PHOTO GUIDE??
Post by: Mister Dank on November 29, 2011, 04:18 am
I've never posted photos because I don't know what all information is encoded in picture files that could give away anonymity.

Apparently, its not that hard since so many people have pics on here. I searched "photo" and got no results - is there a certain way to upload them, or am I'm paranoid for nothing?

Some photos are geotagged meaning someone can actually trace the location the photo was taken if it is geotagged and uploaded to the internet. Photos taken with any kind of phone are likely to be geotagged.

To be safe, use a real, nonphone camera with no tracking abilities. A high quality digital camera, which is what most should be using to get the best picture of their product anyways

Cameras embed other information you may not wish for others to have.

I like imgur.com, nice and easy, and they strip out all EXIF data. You could upload it there, save that photo and then upload it to SR...easiest way that comes to mind.
