I have two versions of tor portable... that can be run from a usb key drive without need for installing, which I like.
The first version uses old firefox 3.6.17
the newer version uses aurora...
The newer version is never working or connecting anymore it says refused by peer...
I dled the newer version from the tor blog:
https://blog.torproject.org/
The tor browser bundle Tor Browser Bundle (2.2.32-4)
This has stopped working..
The old one works still..
any concerns?

i would only use the latest signed Tor Bundle....never seen this issue myself but tell me more -
do you use a LiveCD instance such as TAILS?
or are you just running the Tor Bundle from the USB stick?

I have run from the USB stick and also from linuxcoin bootable usb os.
It seems the newer one that uses aurora just stopped working and won't connect to tor.

I've downloaded the latest version of Tor Browser Bundle (2.2.32-4) & have had no problems. Yeah, it's slow sometimes -- last night I had a hard time getting a connection & even then it was painfully slow. But that's probably an issue with the Tor relay system being overloaded.
Safest version of Tor portable? It has to be Liberte Linux, which encrypts all of the browser bundle & whatever documents & files you keep on the encrypted part of the USB flash drive. Connections are made over Tor an the developer has even added in a few other security measures not found in TAILS.
