Title: Freedom of information act
Post by: shifting sands on June 20, 2013, 12:18 pm
So, can i use the freedom of information act in the uk to find out what info the substance misuse service is holding on me personally and can anyone tell me how i can get this information. They make decisions regarding my so called treatment and most of those decisions are made by a team of workers who have never ever met me. I want to know how they come by these decisions and i would like to see all my records.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm quite sure you can!!

Quote:
'The Freedom of Information Act 2000 was introduced to oversee access to information held by public bodies. The Freedom of Information Act gives individuals or organisations the right to request information held by a public authority'

The substance misuse service is a public authority so i cant see why not! You must request it in writing and you must also pay £10 admin fees, usually in the form of a cheque or cash in the letter you send!

Thanks, I assume that I need to send the letter to the SMA. I will let you know how I get on.
