Just a heads up I was able to buy bit coins with my paypal on ebay.. got them within an hour didn't pay too much and didn't have to trust someone with a moneypak. Nice and easy!!
-
You can buy them on Ebay!? I didn't even know, I've been trying to get them for so long.
-
As above, all I can say is I hope you spread them around a bit before sending them to silk road. Although all bitcoins can be traced easily anyway unless you launder them properly.
-
Yeah that sounds a little risky, not sure I'd take the chance. The best way I've found is using Bitinstant and do a cash deposit at a local bank. You don't have to show ID to deposit so it's anonymous. In less than an hour the money is in my mt. gox account, so far it hasn't ever taken longer than that. It is a 3.9% fee, but the speed and convenience makes it worth it in my opinion.

Damn, stop being so paranoid as long as you're not buying bulk or vending. WTF.
-
i looked into that on ebay as well. and I found one dude that I now work with outside of ebay's system for getting my BTC through paypal. He might charge a bit of for the transfer, but the dude is fast as shit and I have bought all sorts of random quantity with no problems. as for the laundering stuff, I thought that silk road took care of that with the bitcoin tumbler program they used. please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong

Everybody who sells bitcoins via paypal is just very very dumb.
The buyer can get back his money and run away.

Yeah this is called charge-back, you call your credit card company and you told them the card was stolen and they will reverse the payment. This is why market exchanges doesn't use paypal, as you said it is very risky and dumb to sell bitcoin via paypal!!!
-
did they make you send funds as a girft and not a purchase? if for a purchase you can charge back and get funds back and seller is retarded, if he made you send it as a gift then i dont think you can charge that back so he's not totally retarded.

People on ebay send item "as a gift" to save you customs fee or taxes, but all payment with paypal can have charge backs.

Yea he has me send it as a gift. And although it is a risk to the vendor, that is a risk that the few BTC vendors who accept paypal are willing to accept. I should also note that I had to go through a rather unique verification procedure with this particular seller and we both had to build a significant mutual trust before any transaction took place.
