Title: Is it necessary to send to a non-sr wallet using localbitcoins?
Post by: Moon Fried on August 16, 2013, 09:50 pm
Just wondering because I sent some btc from my localbitcoins wallet to a blockchain wallet and the sending address was not the same as my localbitcoins wallet. Does this mean localbitcoins anonymizes wallet transactions or should I still use a new blockchain account before sending to my SR wallet?

It might mean it breaks the direct link from the blockchain analysis point of view, but certainly localbitcoins itself would have a record of the link between the two addresses for support purposes, auditing, etc..  I don't think this is intended to be some kind of service or feature;  most likely it has to do with how they process transactions to reduce their transaction fees wherever possible.  I'm sure you could ask them about it as it's not an unusual question.

Anything under $5k-10k, not really a big deal. However, LBC states that they keep all transaction history and messages for at least 30 days... so there's that. It's good practice to have at least one intermediary before transferring back to SR. I actually get a new wallet address from SR every time I transfer funds from my blockchain to my SR account. You could also use Bitcoin Fog, or something like it, for transferring anything more than, say, 90 BTC. They charge between 1-3% and essentially take your money and transfer it a shitload of times between other wallets before sending it to it's final destination.

Wallets are free. Make a lot of them.
