Hello. I am attempting to get some coins from BTC Buddy but its been a constant trouble. I have delivered him the correct information and each time he has told me he hasnt received it in the address box of the order form. I am not sure if there is something off with silk road or if im getting the run around from him. I have every notice from him requesting me to give him the information and everytime i have placed a new order with the correct information. i am about to check my MPK and its balance. If someone from SR could shed some light on what could be happening here, it'd be greatly appreciated. BTC Buddy comes highly recommended so I will not jump to conclusions and has been patient with me. Thanks in advance.
-
Can you let me me know how you went. He came ecomended to me too. Hoping to try.
Thanks :)

For some reason people recommend the guy.. probably because he hasn't fucked them YET.
I made the mistake of trying to use him for my initial funding of a vendor account.
BIG MISTAKE.
$250 poorer and wiser.. we persevere. His time will come. Scammers always show their true colors in the end. Might take months.. but his sketchy ways will bring him down eventually.

Could you elaborate a little bit? Did he take your money and run or what?
I've had a few successful transactions with him, his rate is bit high, and the last couple times it took longer than i would of liked but hes always had pretty good communication and has never given me any sign of sketchiness.
-
I have had 5 very successful transactions with BTCBuddy, I have used MP's ranging from $90 - $300. The longest he has taken is 3 days, most time it was 1-2 days, and the $300 pack was done inside of 12 hours.
That said, I dont know the man and the recent events with t76 have made me question everyone on here, no more blind faith, but I trust him as much as is possible on here.
According to the information I have gotten from him, he does not cash in the MP until the moment he sends you the BTC. So if he has not given you the BTC, and he has cashed your MP, then case closed.
tl:dr
- If your moneypak funds have been depleted, and BTC Buddy hasnt given you BTC, then he fucked you, but from my experience, I doubt this has happened.

It's a pretty simple story. New guy on the forum/road (me) aspires to vendor status for his crops. Researches BTC vendors on the forum (nervous about IDs and MtGox and such).
Finds BTC Buddy and others. Looks closely.. sees BTC Buddy has a Western Union funding option. Been There Done That. Good to go.
PMs BTC Buddy, quoting his profile instructions on WU.. says "am I understanding how to do this correctly".
BTC Buddy replies affirmatively.
2 days later the WU is sent. In the meantime BTC Buddy changes his profile. Takes down the WU listing.
I PM him to give him the transaction ID etc.. he's like "no dice.. listings gone.. get your money back"
I try, it's already on his card. I tell him, he says I'm S.O.L.
I have screenshots of the PMs , transaction ID # and even the WU receipt. Others on the forum were good enough to talk to him about it, he blew them off.
The last thing I got from him was a taunting heckling psycho spiel via PM. He turned down negotiation, he turned down arbitration by the board.
I was foolish enough to go out of escrow and I will never do so again. I implore all newbs to boycott all BTC vendors on Silk Road and go off-site for their transactions where they have some hope of redress in the event of problems.
tl;dr He fucked me and said it was my fault for doing what he told me to do. Wait and see.. it'll happen to ya'll eventually.

After sending the MP and the then PM to BTCBuddy how long until he gets back to you?

IME its been anywhere from 20hrs-72hrs...
Last time it took like 2-3 days, which is longer than i would expect but its whatever.
I believe he puts bigger MPs at higher priority too, so the bigger your MP the quicker your likely to have it cashed.
Also like someone else stated, doesnt cash the MP until you have coins. When i woke up the 3rd day and still didn't have any bitcoins i called the number on the MP and it still had all the money on there, so i know he was just busy.

damn this is crazy how these trusted vendors have been scamming a lot of people lately. a new member will come here and see %100 feedback,20 pages of people sayin "yea he great" so of course they're going to use them..and then bam, ended up getting fucked over. it seems now that you have to make a new thread about the vendor you want to make a transaction with to get current feed back from other people.
i used sugar mama and everything went very smooth, always reply's quick on messages. (could be a little more straight forward of the exact time she is going to make the transaction) but none the less it was very good dealing with her. sent MP code laid back got coin in account. took almost 3 days though, but i placed order at a late time at night (plus she said she was a little backed up anyway) so that was like a day right there. sometimes she sends same day or usually next day.
im glad she didn't send coin the next day 'cus i would've put a order in for T76, but i got the coin the day after he left. whew
*sorry, not trying to hijack your thread*
-thanks sugar mama!!

Alternately vendors of actual stuff could put up warnings in their own profiles about the scammer BTC vendors. I intend to do this myself.
I picked the moniker "House of Fu" for my vendor account AFTER BTC Buddy ripped me off. Fu Jiezi (aka House of Fu) was a famous Chinese traveler on the Silk Road who decapitated a robber prince who was robbing travelers and brought his head back to the Emperor.
Since S.R. is unable to deal with this guy... I will deal with him. As long as he's on the Road there will be a Fu Jiezi telling every newb who surfs a listing for mushrooms that they should go to Bit-Instant and not deal with him cause he's a scammer.
I can make money slowly.. what skin I have in the game is mostly been chewed off by this scoundrel.
So everyone who wants mad cheap mushies will be forewarned and forearmed.. cause BTC Buddy's going to be slammed in every single listing I do once I'm established.
It's not how I would deal with the problem in real life.. but IRL he would never walk without pain again.

BTC Buddy scammed me of $500 just a few weeks ago :'( I was cashing out some bitcoins and he sent me an invalid MoneyPak #. Of course he denies it and won't address the situation. He's a random scammer, so its a gamble to exchange with him. Just knock on wood and hope he doesn't cash & dash :o
Recently, I've been using Sugar Mama. I trust her for all my transactions, even hundreds of coins at a time. She always gets back to me the same day. Don't get scammed by BTC Buddy. Consider yourself warned!

Philter, please let this be more known. I seem to have missed this story and I check the forums a lot. I used BTCBuddy the other day for mp -> btc for $1300. If I would have known this then I would have not given him my business. Too much risk of a scam giving people a mp code. It was the first time using MP because of dwolla changes and no bank deposit locations near me for bitinstant.
-
I'm always glad for information--negative or positive. Having said that, I was all jumpy over the latest T76 scam also, and lost quite a bit to Tony, and still sent a hefty sum to btcbuddy...within hours, he replied, and quickly processed my order.
So, I've dealt with him for some time, and never been treated anything but in a friendly manner, and even tho I have no power in btc matters--there is no escrow for inhouse vendors--I've never been ripped off: always got my btc. I've dealt with him before, and would deal with him again.
There is no assurance, outside of escrow. It's better to go with Mt.Gox if one wants to be totally secure. I had an account with another offSite vendor, but they went under TradeHill

Messenger,
It's a fine line to walk bro. I don't want to be SPAMming all over the forums constantly like a whiny bitch, but at the same time people need to know. I posted in his feedback thread and let folks in the silkroad chat know.
I guess I figured I'll upgrade to vendor, put it in my profile and listings and let that be. There are other people who have also gotten screwed by him. Try talking to Twolips and SouthernSupplier. Both vendors and both got fucked over.
My personal belief is that BTC Buddy is not so much a continual scam artist as an opportunistic one. If he sees an opening he can justify and skate on.. he does that. He does not "swear to his own hurt". And when a problem arises.. THEN he turns into a screaming crackhead.
All I can say is.. just wait for it. At some point the bigger business picture will get tough for him.. and THEN everyone will see these "isolated incidents" starting to happen more and more and more often.

I gave him a go and couldn't have asked for better communication and quick turnaround. He gueded me through my first BTC buy and got my coins in only a few hours. Not saying I don't believe you, I think we should all pass as much information as possible to keep if fair and honest.
Next life on :P

Sent him a $400 MP yesterday evening, had about $380 worth of coin this morning. This is my third perfect transaction with him.

Typical BTC Buddy behavior via the sock puppet account. Hey Buddy how about you confine that kind of "kissing your own ass" posting behavior to the suckup thread you use to lure newbs into your game mmkay?
To everyone else.. if you have the stomach for it.. watch his feedback thread. The same personality posts over and over using different low-post / new accounts singing his praises. That and his high$$ vendor customers predominate his feedback.
He relies on out-of-escrow transactions and sock puppet swarm tactics to make his "business" work.
You don't like FE? Dudes.. you FE with this guy EVERY TIME YOU USE HIM.
If you want honesty, integrity, and some semblance of fairness.. then ask the admins to figure out an escrow option for these BTC vendors. Otherwise.. expect them to keep fucking people over and then using YOUR forum to advance those interests.
Oh and BTC Buddy.. Please know that I am keeping an eye on you.. and every bit of intelligence I get is added to the pile. You are a cracked out swindler type.. and you will eventually find your schemes and scams in ruins about your feet.
When they do.. I will be watching and smiling. Have a nice day.

I'm not sure what a 'sock puppet' is, but I've been using btc buddy for quite some time, and never had anything but good results. I agree that we would be much better severed if we had some kind of escrow setup for btc vendors, and we don't really have any protection when a transaction goes bad. But after TradeHill went down, and when it did, bitinstant--who supposedly had done the transaction--took about a week to even answer my email, I realized we didn't have all that much protection 'out there,' either, so I decided to give the inhouse btc vendors a shot. And have been dealt with well.
-
Like I said.. he's opportunistic (and not in a positive way). Give it time.
As the saying goes.. "If you can only sit by the side of the Ganges long enough.. you will see the corpses of your enemies floating by."

Funded my 1st purchases with BTCBuddy & all went well. My coins hit approx 24hrs after the transaction. I'm a noob & still questionable about BTC vendors. Just too convenient to buy bitcoin right here on the road. With no large branch banks local to me the money pack option seems pretty friendly. Just happy all was well and square the 1st time around. Will I use him again in the future, IDK. I suppose it just depends on my personal vibe and how his rep is living up here on the forum. As for my opinion of him and my faith in BTC vendors period, still undecided.

Today it seems I have been burnt again. I sent BTC Buddy and Sugar Mama the same MP for $200 hoping this would speed up my chances for an early return. The MP has been cashed and I have received no btc. BTC Budy canceled my order and later assured me in a PM that when he tried my MP it was cashed. Sugar Mama has now sent me a pm to the same effect. I have no way of knowing who cashed it because I made the mistake of giving the MP to 2 vendors (Stupid I know). I don't know why either of these seemingly legitimate vendors with thriving business's would risk someone calling scam for a relatively small $200 dollars (in respect to their relatively large bank roles.) It doesn't make sense to me. I don't think either of them is preparing for a large heist. I wish you all well and hope that one day in a free market we will no longer have to deal with being burnt- on the road- or on the street. BossHogg came through for me he is not a scam. Thank you BossHogg

I'm reluctant to post negative feedback on trusted vendors, but ultimately it's the right thing to do for the community so I've decided to post in hopes that others can benefit from my loss and make good decisions with their money.
I lost $435 on July 21st either to BTC Buddy or SugarMama. I'd placed an order with BTC Buddy, before placing the order I messaged him inquiring if he was in a position to facilitate a transaction within 24hrs. He said yes and so I placed the order. 36 hours later I hadn't received the BTC so I reached out to BTC Buddy requesting an update. He promptly canceled my order stating he had no codes to redeem MP. I then confirmed the MP was still loaded and placed an order with SugarMama who also said she'd be able to turn an order in 24hrs and ultimately did not. I think BTC vendors were overwhelmed in general that week. It was at this point I realized the MP had been cashed. I reached out to both vendors and both told me they did not take the funds. I then asked them both for advice on how to work with GreenDot to recover the funds. SugarMama offered no advice. BTC Buddy offered advice, but I know for a fact that if I'd followed his guidance GreenDot would not attempt to reclaim the funds and would never attempt to investigate the transaction.
Honestly I cannot say for certain who took the funds, but my instinct tells me it was BTC Buddy and here's why. I gave him some attitude when he didn't come through on his promise and canceled my order. Reflecting back I realize I was out of line. There's no place for attitude in this community, it's not productive or respectful. Ultimately I think my attitude inspired BTC Buddy to teach me a lesson. Also BTC Buddy removed his listings shortly after the incident and to my knowledge he is still off line. I cannot confirm who took the funds and to whomever did not I'm sorry your name has been mentioned.
This was my experience exactly as it happened. Please take it for whatever it's work.

Dude give it a rest.
I think it's pretty obvious I'm not a "sock puppet" Shit, I've been here longer than he has. You know what happened, why you're on this crusade against BTC buddy over your $250, and it's ridiculous. Why not accept some fault of your own? What are you, a christian?
I've sent him THOUSANDS, many times. IF I can send him a couple grand with no escrow, no listing, hell without even saying anything, I don't think any of you need worry about your moneypaks being in his care. You think he's gonna pass up a chance to grab a few thousand only to rip you for a couple hundred bucks?
You had a bad experience, and it was at least partially your fault. What do you expect him to reach in his own pocket and pay you just to shut up? Would you? He stopped accepting the service you used, and had clearly posted it days before you used it because he was having issues with them. He tried and couldn't retrieve funds. Now who is really to blame? It pays to look before you jump, every time. Be a grown up and let it go.
For the rest of you giving your moneypaks to multiple vendors, WTF are you thinking? Once again, no one to blame but you. Randomly pointing a finger at someone is just childish.

You are a blithering idiot.
Of course he would steal a few hundred from some n00bs and leave thousands from others. He's a fucking selective scammer.
The fact that some of these scams might have been avoided by the victims doesn't mean it is their fault. Scamming is the scammer's fault, and all the examples in this thread are examples of scamming by BTC Buddy.
Why are you so eager to defend him?

HEY ;D
Count me in as a "BTC Buddy sock puppet" too. :D Everyone else is. It is easy to see.
Best in the biz bitches :P

I have used btc buddy several times in the past and he has always come through. Recently I placed the largest MP order I have ever done with him and 20 days later nothing!! Still waiting and now he is calling me names? BTC Buddy is a scammer in my book. I rarely post in the forums but I believe word needs to get out about this guy. Be warned...I have tried to communicate with him several times now...and I am always nice and polite in my communications...all I want to know is what is going on with my money. I even tried to reach out to Sugar Mama to see if she might be of help but have not received an answer. I am beyond frusterated as that was a good chunk of money to keep me nice and fixed for the holiday season. Just remember buddy....what goes around comes around...Hope you have a Merry Xmas! Folks....If you want BTC's and have been getting them from BTC Buddy...the one in stealth mode....I advice you to be careful cause its just a matter of time before he plays you like a fool too.
