Title: GPG messing with me
Post by: Knomo on October 26, 2012, 02:24 pm
So I added someones public key to my keychain like normal, it's standing on the 'main' screen now.. I type a message and want to encrypt it, I than go to the popup menu where you select someone's key, and the key I added isn't on the list!? Halp  :-X

Hmm well kinda fixed it.. You can do a manual search for the name, I type in the name and hit enter without actually seeing a name pop  up in the screen.. It's encrypted now, hope with the right key ::)

Still strange tho

Good you fixed it. Tip for the next time you run into a problem: please tell us which version of GPG you're using: GPG4win, GPG4USB, gpg on Linux (my favorite ;) ) or gpg on Mac.

Sounds like a glitch, a small mistake in the software that causes a minor problem that can be worked around.

Often this sort of state confusion can be fixed by closing the program and opening it again. If not, then consider filing a bug report with the authors of the software doing your best to explain what you did to make it happen so they can reproduce it.

Understand though that the problem is not with GPG, but rather with the tool that presents you with a fancy menu and uses GPG for you. You may want to look into using the command line version, it is not that hard and is what your tool is using under the hood.
