I was thinking that it may be of use to "archive" old product listings after they are taken down from the main product listings.
I could have used after my several orders placed during the sale had come in. I found that as each came in, I wanted to double check against the order page that everything was good before finalizing and rating. However, when I would click on the item in "Orders" I would see an "item no longer listed" page. In the same vain, this happens if I click on an "Item" in a seller's ratings.
Obviously there would be security issues with "long term" storage of listing info, but I think that maybe storing a DB snapshot of the item page at the time the buyer presses "order" in his cart. Then, for security, this snapshot can be deleted when the buyer finalizes the item.
This does NOT address the when a buyer finalizes early, and doesn't allow other users to see which items are attached to feedback if the listing is removed, but I think it's a decent compromise.
Any thoughts on implementation or security concerns?

Archives are generally bad.
I've thought the same thing, and even though it'd be useful, it's best there aren't long lasting records.
Best to just save each ad to your own encrypted folder on your computer, if you want to reuse it.

I'd like to see the names and links of goods ordered nulled out. The price and approximate date can stay. It seems like a safety risk to a buyer to have all that information available publicly.

Same reason I don't like using Google, I just like to be able to delete information about me if I choose to.

I dunno, there honestly seems to be No Advantage to the idea....
1)Lets say a new buyer wants to buy some bud and can access a reputable vendors "archive", lets call that vendor D11111
So now they can see that in the past D1111 also sold H, some Tony Montana etc...Really why does it matter, all that should matter is the number to the right of the vendors name imo.
2)Above poster put it well....archiving in general is bad for privacy. If I was a vendor and I used to sell MDMA , or better yet for this example, Red defcons....and for some reason that line of wares got shady....say a pack got picked with a large shipment. first thing I would do as a vendor is delete that listing and lay low for a bit, at least on seliing that line.
3)Why would the old listings matter if you couldn
t even order them anymore? "Hey those 8 balls looked great and had great reviews....sweet, but its moot, they aren't for sale anymore....
Maybe I'm missing something but if you think about it there are too many negatives that would come out of archiving to outweigh any positive.

Ahh.. the more I think about it the more I see it was a dumb idea. I was just thinking it would be a nice feature when I had several orders outstanding during the sale. Won't be like that for me in the future, I think I'll just copy the order details into a secure location for reference when I order in the future.
Thanks for the input, guys.
