Ok, I use Linux so this may be slightly different on your installation but you should be able to work it out.
When you install the program and start it for the first time it should ask you to generate a key pair, these are what are used for encrypting/decrypting messages to you.
Choose a strong password in this stage, it is important, and then leave the computer to generate the keys.
Once this is done you should see your key in the main PGP screen.
Click on it once and choose to Export it, then save the resulting file on your computer somewhere. Open the file and the first line should say -----BEGIN PGP PUBLIC KEY BLOCK-----
This is what you should send to anybody who you want to be able to send encrypted messages to you.
To send an encrypted message to somebody else you should find their Public Key and save it as a text file on your computer. Open your PGP and select Import. Navigate to where you saved the other person's Public Key and import it. Write your message in the Clipboard section on PGP and then select encrypt. Choose the key that you just imported, click ok to any boxes that pop up. Copy/paste the resulting encrypted text into the body of the email/pm/whatever you are sending and you are done.

I've downloaded and installed the program, however the only executable I have is Kleopatra which doesn't seem to have a clipboard section to encrypt a body of text.

What am I doing wrong?

Cheers

Hello, I started using Kleopatra yesterday and this is how I do it.

Import the public key, then add the make a .txt of the stuff you want encrypting.

Drag and drop it in Kleopatra and follow the screens, choosing who you want to be able to decrypt it ect.

Or right-click the Kleo system tray (may have to close Kleo for it to show) and go to clipboard and decrypt/encrypt as required.

Hi, you are better off using "GNU Privacy Assistant", it has an integrated clipboard etc..

I'm pretty sure it came with the gpg4win.org download though, maybe you had to select it when it gives you a list of which software to install, that may be on a custom install or something like that though.
