I'm sure this has been suggested before at one time but then maybe my post will make it seem more imperative.
I think it's very annoying that item pages go away when the quantity is depleted. On eBay, for example, the listings are always available (just not searchable once bidding is done). The problem shows itself when you have bought up something and want to go back and read the listing page again or when you are looking at a seller's feedback and want to see what the description of the item each buyer purchased and rated. The Item link on the right of the feedback table shouldn't even exist if 9/10 times it leads you to "This product is no longer listed".
I understand it's a big change but (assuming its not too much of a server load) a simple "sold out" message replacing the ADD TO CART button would allow us the freedom of keeping listings around. Even if expired listings were just kept for a month or two, that would be great.
