Title: How to use a vendor's PGP key
Post by: Refski on September 04, 2013, 11:27 am
I completely have no idea. I'm guessing we copy and paste the PGP key into the section in cart where we add our address and then type our details after? It's a NooBy old question but I just have to ask cos I am baffled haha...

This video is how I learned how to use it...It's really easy after you get the hang of it. All you have to do is copy their key to notepad, then save it as the vendor's name (so it's easy to remember), then go into your pgp software and click "import key"...Find the document where the key is saved and you're done!

Once you have the key stored, open the clipboard in your PGP program, type your message (include your key)...After that, click "encrypt" and choose the vendor's key you want to use...Once you click that, it will turn your regular message into an encrypted one. Just copy that into the cart, or message, or whatever else you need.

When you get a message back, open your PGP program and the clipboard...Copy the message into the clipboard, enter your password/pin, and click "decrypt"...The message will then appear in plain text...You're done!

This works for me using GnuPG on a linux box~

1) Copy the vendor's public key to clipboard
2) Paste it into an anyname.asc file (must be a .asc extension)
3) Close and save the .asc file
3) In your PGP keyring app, choose Import and browse to the .asc file (some keyring apps let you drag and drop)
4) You should now have the vendor's key on your keyring
5) Use PGP client to encrypt using the new key

Hope that helps!

the above posts should be helpful- but iunless you are on a mac get gpg4usb- it literally could not be easier to use- great tutorial on thier site
the proceedure is a s follows:
1) import vendor's public key
2) encrypt your private info using said key with pgp software (gpg4usb)
3) copy paste encrypted message in box for name/address-
 thats it...

but after you get the gpg program, goto the newbie gpg club and practice
