I watched the movie "Dark City" yesterday and I recommend it to everyone.
-
Ya, I've seen it in theaters back in around 95. Very trippy. It is also very beautifully shot and visually appealing. A very great but very underrated movie...
-
woho i love that kind of movies, just saw the trailer and it was amazing and now about to download it. :D
Thank for recommendation :-*

Dark City is fucking awesome. I watched it a few years ago and was surprised to learn that Keifer Sutherland had to voice in the beginning on the vhs/dvd version, because americans didnt understand the story without it.
Check it out, true story.
Plus the lead actor is british, originally made famous by a tv adaption of Cold Comfort Farm.
Then he was in Dark City THEN Fantastic 4.
Good for him eh.

Love the movie, really great!
Watch Ink- you'll like it ;)
-
Yeah. Seen it. 'twas good.

Added it to my 'to watch' list :)

Agreed, one of the best movies out there. This was one of the primary inspirations for The Matrix; it knocked my socks off first time I watched it.
-
wow it was really nice shit man :D

That's what I was thinking :o
-
The whole memory implant thing in this movie was the best idea i had seen in a long time.
My only downside to this whole movie was Keifer Sutherland. I've seen him play shit parts before but this took the biscuit.
-
Always like recommendations like this.
A bit different.
And thanks to imdb you find others in the same "spirit".
Thanks!

Really??? I kinda liked that part. He reminded me of that rat he had running through that maze. I dun think he was bad in there at all.

Fair do's. I have to watch it again anyways, its been a long long time since i last saw it.
However a lot has happened with Keifer Sutherland since, especially with 24 and he was great in that, minus the facial twitching.

Lolrite? The twitching, haha :)
I think its a sign of being crafty if an actor whom is generally likeable plays a role where you instantaneously dislike the character based on their mannerism, etc.
-
Aaaah, i see what you are saying.
Now i am definitely going to have to watch it again!.

Hey can anyone suggest a movie alike this movie or matrix?
So fucking bored want to watch a movie ;D

I'm not aware of similar "mindfucks" except Inception.
If "twists" is what you look for though give "The Prestige" with Hugh Jackman and Christian Bale a shot. Warning! Not an action flick at all, but very nicely shot, visually appealing, and one hell of a mindtwist ending. + David Bowie as Nikolas Tesla.
Another good mindfucker is "Memento" with Guy Pierce, really trippy though.
Another trippy mindfucker is "Revolver", with Jason Statham and Ray Liotta.

I was thinking Inception too. Memento is on my to-watch list and I added Revolver too :)
If you want another trippy as hell mindfuck movie, watch Fantastic Planet.

I have seen inception in 3D and it was quite mindfuck lol, the rest is in download list :)

I refuse to watch revolver on the basis that it was the movie where Guy Ritchie proved at last what an up his own ass, dick sucking cunt he really is.
Just watch some of the interviews of his for the movie.
Seriously, what a twat.

LMFAO
I will do that then. Where is the best site to go for online watching. I am no pirate by any means, but i dont want to fork out a ton of cash for a DVD that will just end up collecting dust on my shelf!!
I used to feel the same way about music. Why the fuck should teenagers be asking their parents for money to fund some multi millionaire with a drug habit and evades taxes??.
Just doesnt seem right to me.
Although, as for a movie like Avengers Assemble id gladly pay for the ticket or dvd to see it.
I hope you guys can understand my logic??? :o

Yeah sorry, but i just dont trust torrents anymore. Might have something to do with my Bearshare event of 2008.

Yeah this movie was pimp. There really aren't enough well made science fiction films out there with strong dystopian themes like this one had IMO. SciFi is really a huge cash cow with plenty of quality source material from the printed pages out there right now waiting to be milked if Hollywood learns to throw it into high gear.
Have you seen Sin City?

Ya, that's kinda why you want to be on private invite-only trackers, and not the public ones where RIAA, MPAA and consorts log every damn IP on the swarm.

Not if you force anonymous encryption should your client support it, and almost all do. Then the mpaa can't track shit on the public trackers.

Sorry but that's bullshit. Encryption is a feature for people whose ISP is blocking or throttling Torrent traffic. It doesn't make you anonymous.

It encrypts your traffic though so what you're downloading can't be identified. I stopped receiving letters after forcing encryption.
But yeah, if you want to be much more safe/anon use a remote proxy with your client.
-
So, seriously, because of those laws are there absolutely no streaming movie websites anymore, not even for movies that have already been out for like a year ??
If that is true, that really pisses me off.

You are very uninformed even about the basics of the BT protocol.

So are you trying to sound smart without actually bothering to point out how what I said was inaccurate? Because if so it's really not working.

I already explained it in my previous post. Refer to this Wikipedia article for more info:

what he says...
Encryption is useless for anonymity as it merely attempts to "mask" the type of data being transmitted in order to avoid throttling by the ISP. Which is useless with deep package analysis. You will always broadcast your IP to the tracker and the swarm. TOR = useless for BT, so are most VPNs, aside from the fact that most private trackers do not allow their use as it will get you banned in no time. Lets not forget that for the amount all the good VPNs charge, you might as well get a Netflix subscription. Unless you want to download from the PirateBay with 45kb through a VPN.
Anyways, BT encryption for this purpose = fail.

Yeah but I've already conceded that. That's why I said, if you want to mask your ip use a remote proxy. The BT encryption will protect your traffic from being ID'd though. DPI could well reveal the type of traffic it is, but the specific content and who owns it? How? In any event I don't think ISPs are deploying DPI at least mine isn't because like I said I stopped receiving cease and desist letters after forcing encryption without having to use a vpn. Nor do I see any reason they would spend more resources to deploy DPI for the riaa and mpaa until they're mandated to by law. If you think otherwise though I'd be interested to hear why.

lol i download and watch the movie "Sn City" then i watch the movie and when the movie ended i relize that i had seen that movie :P
-
Sin City do you mean ????
I thought it was the biggest waste of time since i dunno, The Phantom Menace.
I couldnt wait for the dvd of star wars TPM but when i got it , i watched ten minutes and thought that the idea of going to get drunk was much better.
The only good thing about Sin City was Clive Owen, he still rocks.
-
yeh Sin City, im high all the time spelling wrong and stuff :D
-
lol i download and watch the movie "Sn City" then i watch the movie and when the movie ended i relize that i had seen that movie :P
Yeah I've done that before. :)
You've seen Scanner Darkly right?
Other Sci-Fi with dystopian themes I would rec are also Philip K Dick based. The most well known I'm sure you've seen like Minority Report, Blade Runner, and Total Recall. Then there's his less well known but still IMO good flicks like Paycheck, Next, Impostor, Adjustment Bureau, Screamers.
Just saw this dystopian flick the other day Handmaid's Tale set in a polluted right wing religious totalitarian state. Very dark vision of the future, which I like. Speaking of dystopia ... Equilibrium with Christian Bale was a mainstream flick whose Fahrenheit 451/Brave New World/1984 themes made it an instant cult classic. I'm sure there are some others I'm not thinking of at the moment.

I absolutely loved Equilibrium. Although i think its the movie that shot Bale into stardom.
The thing i enjoyed most was the "fictional?" fight system of Gun-Kata. Many a night did i log onto youtube to re-watch those awesomely made fight scenes.
Great job !!
