Title: Getting Bitcoins
Post by: TheAbsurd on November 04, 2011, 05:27 pm
I apologize for being such a noob. I've been reading about this nonstop but I'm still confused (or maybe paranoid).

So once I wire transfer money to Get-Bitcoin, how will they know it's mine? And how do I pull it to my SR account?

I'm assuming they'll know it's mine because I provided the bitcoin address, but I'm still unsure as to how I'd get the money in my SR account.

Thanks in advance.

i shall try explain i'm a bit of a n00b myself but this is what i would do.

download the bitcoin client and fire it up, get a bitcoin address and use this at get-bitcoin, do your transfer and wait for your coins to appear, which may take a little time, and even longer if its the 1st time your running the BTC client as it needs to kind of update itself to the latest block in the chain , once it reaches the block your transaction has taken place it should appear in the program/wallet. then just send it to your SR BTC address and it should appear in your account?

suppose u could transfer the BTC straight to your SR account but i'm not sure how safe that is security wise.

one problem i did have was getting my bitcoin client up to date with the latest block in the chain for some reason it was going very slow probably would have taken a good day+ to catch up, i ended up downloading part of the block chain.

hopefully someone else with a little more experience pops in and corrects me if i'm wrong or offers a little more advice. :)

Yep. Click account on the Silk Road page. There it has an address where you send your bitcoins to once they are in your wallet. Or you can buy bitcoins from some trusted monepak-bitcoin vendors on silk road. Get-bitcoin.com is safer though that is what I would do.
