Title: Do you need a proxy to login?
Post by: GrimbleX on October 21, 2011, 02:30 am
I downloaded the new Tor browser bundle, which doesn’t include Polipo. When I tried to login to SR, it just refreshes the page. So yeh, do you need a proxy?

No; applications that do not speak SOCKS -- which Tor understands -- require a proxy like Polipo or Privoxy.  The Browser Bundle is pretty much set up to run "straight out of the box".  (The fact that you got here would be evidence of that.)

SR has been dealing with technical issues [ dkn255hz262ypmii.onion/index.php?topic=4158.0 ] of late, which would be the most likely explanation.

I'm not new to SR, I can log in fine with the older version of the browser bundle. Its just that for some reason I can't login with this newer version (before the outage), and I suspect that's why some of the new guys can't join?
