I have never gotten any and I am only just getting started. I have heard some places are "hot". My biggest fear is that they can be traced back to me. I need to make some SR script purchases.
-
I get mine through Localbitcoins.com after using several others and abandoning them after they became useless with all the reporting requirements.
-
localbitcoins or Campbx. Fair warning, CampBX is stupidly slow most of the time.
-
I also use localbitcoins.com. And are you in the UK? There's a vendor called BitcoinsUK (http://silkroadvb5piz3r.onion/silkroad/user/f76d1ab300) who I plan on using for my next purchase of btc has anyone reading this used them before?
-
i got my first bitcoin on ebay... ridiculously expensive! now i'm using mt.gox.
-
I'm using a small, domestic website. It's expensive and you can only buy either 1, 5 or 10 BTC at a time, but it's fast. I'm so tired of waiting for Mt. Gox.
-
localbitcoins.com is bomb
-
I used Coinbase for my first ones but that's through my bank so it would be traceable. Fair prices but it takes like a week to get the coins...Localbitcoins seems legit but haven't used it yet. I figure I just send them through a tumbler or something and then deposit them here so they aren't traceable, idk

So if I use Mtgox will they be able to track my bitcoin purchases on SR?

So if I use Mtgox will they be able to track my bitcoin purchases on SR?
No.

No.
Hey Jack, could you explain how or why they cannot trace the coins.
-Cheers!

They can follow the coins. They do not know which wallet addresses belong to Silk Road. That COULD happen if the Silk Road servers were found or compromised. If you are paranoid then you can tumble them.

Simple enough. Thanks Jack!

I'd say bitinstant is better than mtgox. There's literally no one near me for localbitcoins. You can use their online service though using okpay etc. There's also bitcointalk.org which has reviewed vendors/websites.

It is cheapest to do cash deposits at the bank for localbitcoins.com, not meet people in person...

I often use moneypak for BTC transactions through currency vendors.
In the past I used SugarMama but they are no longer around. They would charge at maximum 15% (ie send $100MP, receive $85 worth of BTC.)
Most recently, I used a MP for BTC through HumboltGreenGarden. He is a new vendor, so in order to raise his stats, he offered a 3% deduction. ($100 MP, receive $97 worth of BTC.) HumboltGreenGarden received over 70 orders within two days of that posting, and he did not calculate his reserve BTC and a handful or more of customers went a couple of days without receiving their BTC. I received mine within 12 hours of placing order.
This method is not efficient for those putting more than $1000 on at a time, due to moneypak limitations.

what's the SR attitude towards Coinbase?
-
mt.gox or localbitcoins or Campbx ;)
-
Anyone have any experience with Virtex?
-
General consensus seems to be bitinstant or localbitcoins. But holy hell the prices have gone up a lot in the past few days, I'd wait for it to drop again.

Hello guys,
i´m very new in this whole btc and sr business and my english is not the best.
So i make my first btc purchase by localbitcoins.com and i paid it online over sepa banc transaction. So only the seller know my name, but localbitcoins.com doesn´t know any of my personal details.
Can i safely send the btc from my localbitcoin wallet directly in my SR wallet???
I´m not paranoid but i´m very carefull and doesn´t want to make any mistakes, because that will be my first deposit and purchase in SR.
What would you do or what can you recommend me??
best regards
bazinga
