Hi, So I am trying to follow this tutorial: http://dkn255hz262ypmii.onion/index.php?topic=15383.0. I formatted my USB than downloaded Liberte, extracted it to the USB than i loaded the setup.bat file(or w/e its called). It does its thing in the cmd promt. I restart my computer than go to bios options. I go to the boot order section and move the one that says "USB Flash Drive" to the top of the list. It restarts but dosent boot Liberte it juts goes back to windows..... Can any one help me with this? Would be much appreciated.
I am using windows vista on a Compaq Presario A900 Notebook PC

This happened to me as well, it happened to be the usb drive I was using so I went back to the store and bought a different one and it's working now ;)

Oh ok, Ill try getting a new USB and see if that works. Does any one have a particular brand that they have used for this same thing that they would like to recommend?
-
I hear Kingston usually always work, the one I used that didn't work was a Patriot and the one that I got that worked was Lexington.

I am currently using an HP usb flash drive. DO you think its any good?
-
On HP you have to hit "F9" for boot menu. Then select boot to usb. If it does'nt work. And you can see the contents of the drive under windows. The usb drive is good. You brobably did not extract correctly in the root directory.

"root directory" just means onto the usb flash drive right?
-
Just reformat your USB drive to FAT32 and follow directions here: http://dee.su/liberte-install. And also in you do "F9" and don't see USB device on the list your going to have to enabe boot to USB in the BIOS. I also noticed on HP machines, you have to actually turn the computer completely off when attemting to boot from USB. Don't do warm reboot.

So I went out and bought another USB and started over again and I was able to boot liberte. Thanks for the help :)
by the way, is there any way I can change the password u have to enter when its starting up?
-
I had the same issue with USB.. I actually got it working on a cheap 5 dollar duracell one haha.. I think the password can be changed but you have to be superuser. Im pretty sure on the website it tells you how but you have to swirch user in the first two minutes after you log on.

Midori (the browser on Librete apparently leaks DNS requests and you shouldn't use it until its fixed, for now use tails its similar to librete but is more secure.

I actually ran into the same problem when upgrading to tails 11. Could'nt get it to boot to USB. Apprently wiping the USB drive was not enough. I had to use the USB format tool to get it to work. ( just google that ). Don't use windows to format your USB ! Just to let others know what the fix is.
