Title: New to bitcoin
Post by: funcle on August 20, 2012, 02:12 am
A standard google search leads to a website that wants photo ID to buy bitcoins so that is out, and there is one useful video on you tube on bitcoin for newbies. From what I understand I install bitcoin, then I have to find a place that sells them, give over my bank account info.( is direct contact with my bank the only payment option for me?) , must i tumble them or do any other processes before I can use them? I searched for basic bitcoin info here but found nothing. It doesn't sound simple but i'm willing to give it a shot if I can figure it out. any help appreciated

You need to start over.

Go to BitInstant, set it up for moneygram. Go to a moneygram with your invoice, pay in cash.
Don't do anything with your bank, don't do anything with your ID. You don't have to install bitcoin.

If you searched for bitcoin info here and came up empty handed, you shouldn't use this website.

Cheaper option  would be to bitinstant but doing a cash drop off at a bank of america or well fargos. Saves you about 5 bucks

Also, as tempting as their absurdly impossibly low prices might be, do NOT use mtgIx.com (unless you want to get scammed)
