Title: Bitcoin Provider Refusing to accept any tor mail?
Post by: Convalescent on June 07, 2013, 12:27 am
Is this the standard, I'm a little sketched out. Essentially, they are asking I give them a non tor client email. It's not too critical as routing cash for bitcoins isn't illegal at all. However, in the worst case scenario of that said company being raided they would have an IP address.

Does anyone know of a non-java email service that isn't on the tor network?

Thanks, not trying to be paranoid but better safe than sorry.

Interesting, so you think for sure they will not be offering any services in the near future?

My #2 choice is bitinstant although I don't really like the idea of giving my name & addy at a local store. I guess it isn't too problematic as everything will be going through blockchain/fog/tumblr anyways.

Have any suggested sites? I'm not going to mess around with small time providers, too great of risk.

You're not required to give a/your  "real name" or "addy" with Bitinstant. Fake-it-up, Son.

Once, I would have agreed with you, but now I don't.  If you're caught using a fake name, you'll be hit on fraud and they'll start investigating you in earnest.  I'm hearing more and more that peolpe are being tricked into showing that they're using fake info.   I'm not saying that it's necessarily 'safe' to give your real info, but they can't ACTUALLY prosecute you or harass you for purchasing btc, but committing fraud gives them a reason to imprison you and investigate the rest of your activities.
