Title: Need a quick answer
Post by: ElDude on March 13, 2013, 04:34 pm
Vendor asked me to FE since it's my first purchase, but I don't for the life of me know where to accomplish this. There is no option I'm seeing in the order page to finalize, and the auto finalize column only has N/A under it.

I think the vendor has to mark it 'in transit' and then after a couple of days the option will appear.  Maybe someone else can confirm this?

Yes, once the order is placed in transit then the option to finalize will appear.

Sooo the option is available instantly and not after a couple of days :)

correct, the button will appear after the vendor marks your order "in transit".  After that you must finalize before the vendor ships.  Although, FE should never truly be required.... escrow is there to protect the Consumer and Vendors.... its not a one way door.

Couldn't agree more! I won't be requesting FE.

Okay, thanks. I was getting somewhat frustrated looking for it, and figured the faster I could get it done, the faster the vendor could ship.

I was willing to deal with it for my first purchase, but will definitely be leaning towards staying in escrow in the future. I've heard stories of a guy named Tony, and saw ETM do his thing, so there is always that thought in the back of your head whether or not you're going to be out of your money, but my gut tells me I made an OK decision.

The vendors that carry the products I want (at the prices I want) with the reputation I want all require FE for new buyers. I'm making small purchases from each of them to build a report offering FE each time. I figure that it isn't worth their time/effort to try and scam such a small fish when they have 10s of transactions each day for values far higher than my one transaction. I'd honestly rather FE for a reputable vendor on a small (~1 BTC) order than trust a new vendor with that same BTC.

One thing to note, if you play to FE, you should inform the vendor while ordering so that the vendor knows to expect an FE and won't cancel your order due to insufficient buyer stats.
