It amazes me to see these terms being used without any real qualifications. We all know the scale of product from Mexi brick, to the Top Shelf that gets thrown around. In between is a wide range of AZ fluff to top notch green house. Mid grade for some might be the bomb for others, its all relative to location and selection. I have seen the most amazing looking bud that had a nice smell but no punch. This is why I plan to have all my girls tested for the road. I think that a grading curve should be established with a system based on Strain/Potency/Color/Smell/Purity. Whats your thoughts?

+1, spot on.

Is there any kit or method to do testing at home?

"Top Shelf" is an unbelievably subjective term here. There is "OK" A-grade weed for sale from vendors who consistently get high praise for their "top shelf" but I wouldn't call it top shelf. For me, top shelf is supposed to be the best. The label should automatically imply nice female buds with no male flowers, no seeds or immature seeds, proper trichome development, and confirmed potency but beyond that it should imply the weed that stands out above the rest of the properly grown bud.
There are really only a few vendors that seem to offer ounces of legit top shelf and their prices are high.
Maybe there needs to be a new label like ATS ("Above Top Shelf") kinda how there's security clearances for Above Top Secret.
