Any frequent visitors to Amsterdam that can recommend some really chilled out friendly old-style coffeehouses?
Would like to avoid brightly lit neon/industrial ones like Hunters (great weed tho) or unfriendly holes like Funny People.
Also the better half doesn't partake so it'd be appreciated if she could at least have a drink (doesn't have to be alcohol) whilst I unwind.
Menu isn't important as I'd rather smoke some half-decent weed in peace than some top-notch weed with a shop full of twats.

Paradox
Het Ballonetje
Are two that might float your boat.

wow i was going to say het ballonetje! paradox is a good call too. also utopia, bluebird, voyagers, 1e hulp, kashmir lounge. i'd advise getting a tram out to de pijp and doing a mini crawl round club media, katsu, de graal etc and you'll find at least one you love. clientele tend to be friendly chilled locals as opposed to excitable young tourists.

Avoid all the shops in Adam..They sell overpriced weed!
And not always highgrade! Take a trip to Harlem, a nice quiet city.
The only place in Adam i know is Homegrown Fantaseeds. They get their stuff by local farmers.

Dampkring or De Rokerij near Lidensplein

*homegrown fantasy lol. not all amsterdam coffeeshops are a rip off, the tourist traps are of course but if you venture out of the grachtengordel(unlike most) you find prices on a level with the rest of the country.
de rokerij chain all got shut down about a year ago, the owner was involved with hard drugs i think. they were always packed out and uncomfortable though, i'd put them on the avoid list along with de dampkring, greenhouse, grasshopper, bulldog, hunters, barneys etc. chains are so soulless.
