EDIT: HERE ARE SOME PARTIAL LISTS, GOT STUFF ON MY OTHER NAS BOX BUT ITS OFFLINE UNTIL I REPLACE THE PSU, THIS IS ABOUT 80% THOUGH
HD FILM LIST: http://pastebin.com/4qEquYCJ
New XViD Films: http://pastebin.com/PEpheUry
XviD Collection: http://pastebin.com/tc14trQ6

I posted this in another forum because I thought you needed a vendor account to post here but apparently it's OK.
I have 15tb of movies and TV, comprised of HD rips, both 720p and 1080p (about 1500) and xvid rips (about 4000) and many TV shows in both SD and HD quality.
Also I have access to about 200tb total of various content, including more HD/SD Movies/TV, and Xbox360, PS3 and PC games.
I'm wondering what the interest would be in buying a hard drive filled with this stuff ? You would pay for the hard drive (at current prices its £90 for a 2tb drive, this is the best size for gb/£) and I would fill it up and post it to you. The postage is very safe as I can use registered post and there is of course no risk of customs, unless they trained sniffer dogs to sniff out piracy...although I wouldn't put that past the RIAA :P
I'm thinking of charging £150 total, as £10 would go to postage and I'd make £50 from it.
This is a great opportunity for people looking to bolster their media collection, or just for those with download caps.
It's not restricted to just 1 drive, I could do multiple drives and even create a software RAID0 array in windows so it shows up as 1 big drive when you plug them into your system, maybe even do discounts for more drives.
I'm struggling to get the money together at the moment to create a vendor account (I have morphine and a drug called naphyrone in abundance too, I need that bloomin' account!) so if people would show genuine interest I could borrow money off a friend or something as at £50 a time I could get it back quicker than selling drugs here and there.
To give you an idea of how much you would get:
Most my 720p films are 5gigs, some are 7gigs
Most my 1080p are 9 gigs, about a third of them are 11-14 gigs but some are 20gigs+ (Especially the action films, all my action films are 1080p and the best ones are really high bitrate..Saving Private Ryan is 28gigs, The Bourne Trilogy is 38gigs)
The XviDs are 700mb-1.4gb per film
Xbox360 are all 8gigs, PS3 games fluctuate but are around 8gigs each, PC games are about the same
So you're looking at:
280-380 720p
About 200 1080p
Roughly 1800 Xvids
TV Eps are mostly 175mb/episode, call it 4gigs a season for most shows, but some shows I have in 1080p like Band Of Brothers and that's 100gb, and my Planet Earth is the actual bluray discs which is 146gb total, so that's a wild card
You're getting an absolute bargain though, £50 for that much data is astonishing, and as I'm typing this I'm realizing how much of a bargain that is, so I will raise the price after a month, but we'll call this the introductory price :)
So what do you think folks ?
Btw, no music, it would be too much effort to sift through it all haha
O also I'm going to look into how to get a PO Box so people could also send me their hard drives to fill up rather than me purchase a new one
O O (jesus how many end notes is this going to have) the drives will ship with the receipt, so you know you've got a new drive, which will also help if something goes wrong with it, you could get it replaced.
Think thats everything :)
EDIT: In reply to a post in the original: You don't need to worry about packaging, I've been shipping hard drives all over the world for over 10 years now and never has one been damaged, I have more foam peanuts than a..er..well a place that has a lot of foam peanuts..I have more than them...yeeeaaahh...I'll get me coat..

Still very interested! I imagine we would get a list of all the movies you have so we can pick the ones we want? I have a 1.5 TB hard drive I would love to fill :)
-
Most definitely. The lists are easy but I want to break it down into categories for easier picking.
A good thing is I downloaded a lot of my xvid movies in packs, so all I need to do is sort them via creation date and I can pick those same packs out :D
It's going to be at least a week before I get my vendor account but I'll put the lists up ASAP so you can start picking.

how do i play ps3 games on a hard drive?
and how many movies and games out of 15 tb ?
-
You'll have t google to find out how to get the PS3 games working, can't offer support I'm afraid.
My 15tb is made up of movies and TV, I don't store the games locally, I'd download them as requested. I have 1500 HD, 4000 XViD and about 100 TV shows with all seasons.

Watching this thread. Be sure to post an update shortly before going live, so we can get our coins ready :)
Edit: I would advise against giving a P.O. Box to have people send hard drives to. If they send their drives over and there's some issue (drive breaks on the way there/back, gets lost in the mail, whatever) you may have some very angry customers. In addition, you can't be too careful when considering LE involvement.

Very true, I'm a very honest person so I'd probably end up getting scammed by some arsehole sending me his faulty drives and me feeling bad so replacing them.
For the price of the service it's already brilliant so I reckon I'll leave that bit out, thanks for the foresight :)

I've done some partial lists, edited the initial post but will also put them here:

New XViD Films: http://pastebin.com/PEpheUry
XviD Collection: http://pastebin.com/tc14trQ6

This is about 80% of my collection, and doesn't include my TV, the rest is on a NAS box that needs a new PSU
Also as well if it's out I probably have it on a remote box so feel free to include films you know are out and I can just download them as needed. Also as I've not got a vendor account it would be best to tell me early if you plan on wanting stuff not on the list then I can have it ready for when I get up and running.
-
the £50 is a flat fee for the service, no matter what size drive it is. £50 is ridiculously cheap for that many movies but as it's not costing me anything except my time I'd feel bad about charging more.
You're best off with 2tb as the price difference is only about £15 (1tb is around £75, 2tb is £90)
Copying the files to the hard drive is going to take me quite a few hours so I'm not doing much better off than a legit job haha.

...wow. I'll start working on my list.
If you could post your TV shows at some point that would be great. I don't regularly watch TV (download the occasional torrent for a show, but my connection's fairly shit), and there are some shows I'd like to watch from start to finish.
Just to verify, but you'll be shipping worldwide, right? I assume you live in the UK based on your use of pounds for currency, and I'm sure a lot of your customers will be ordering from other parts of Europe, as well as the USA.

mocksha as a new seller I know I will come under scrutiny so I won't be asking for release of funds after the package has arrived. As I'm using tracked shipping the chance of it not arriving is cut right down when I can see someone has signed for it ;)
As for a damaged hard drive I simply won't be taking this as an excuse - after filling the drive I will take it out and test it in another rig, then I will pack it like I've packed the hundreds (if not thousands) of drives I've shipped across the world over the years - anyone crying that it's damaged IS trying to scam (the drives are placed in an anti-static bag, wrapped in about 10 layers of bubble wrap then secured in polystyrene holding)
Addy the box with my TV shows on is down, needs a new PSU but I can list them without the size.
Also yes worldwide shipping, I'll need to go double check international shipping for the weight (postage prices have changed recently) but I don't think it'll cost any extra - if it's like £2-3 I'll just absorb it.

Hey Nbear, any updates? :)
-
Hey bumping an old topic here but I finally got my vendor account, so if people are interested in this I will work on a model to get it going :)
