Title: BitCoins and ... d'oh
Post by: stupidcoins on September 12, 2012, 12:09 am
Hi Everyone,

Like everyone else I am sure who get into the community, I made a small mistake. Oh alright, so I made a dumbass mistake and didn't read the forums *before* transferring BitCoins into my SR wallet. D'oh! Obviously, this is considered a no-no, and one should use something to the effect of InstaWallet to tumble the funds over before transferring to SR.

However, now that I have done this, what can I do to rectify the situation?

A) Should I send the coins out of my SR wallet, into a tumbler, and back into SR?
B) Should I reset my wallet address so it doesn't match the one that the exchange would have stored for the transaction?
C) Is this just an additional safeguard for anonymity sake and it is already difficult to track the source of BitCoins?

Your guys insults/general laughter/help would be appreciated.

The stupid one

Don't worry about it.  There's a reason the SR has a built in BC tumbler.  The coins CAN be traced to the SR.  They CANNOT, however be traced to any illegal activity.  After all, purchasing items from the SR isn't illegal.  Only purchasing illegal items is illegal.

They can't even trace the BC from your SR BC address to your vendors due to the tumbler.  You're fine.

Personally I've always been rather wary of non-SR tumblers because i'm not certain they can be trusted and what's to say they won't keep your coins once they're in their system?
