Title: Mtgox -->instawallet-->instawallet-->instawallet--> btc fog-->SR safe enough?
Post by: sccc on December 03, 2012, 08:39 pm
Hi,
I bought some BTC with Mtgox via wire transfer (ie, had to provide them with some personal details). Now I would like to get them to SR.

Is Mtgox -->instawallet-->instawallet-->instawallet--> btc fog-->SR safe enough?

Thank you!

3 instawallets is probably excessive, and it'd be easy to trace that path anyway. Doing that would basically be the same as going straight from Mt Gox to Bitcoin Fog in terms of anonymity.

It's the Bitcoin Fog part that really breaks it up, and would detach you and your personal details from the btc transactions.

If you wanted an extra step between Mt Gox and Bitcoin Fog, you could use another mixing service like blockchain.info's one (that's what I do - use both Bitcoin Fog and Blockchain.info's anonymous send).

As zenvoboy said, just sending to bitcoinfog is enough, but give it some time, in other words, program a one or two day sending spree to your SR wallet, and delay in starting isn't critical but you can give it six hours.

Thank you!

Is there any way to check when btc is tumbled "enough"?

No, there's no test. But a once-through on the fog is enough, unless you schedule a withdrawal immediatley after depositing.

Also, keep in mind that bitcoinfog is not a free service, they charge a fee that varies between 1% and 3%, but it's well worth it.

You can easily check the trail your transfers creates at blockchain.info.  Simply search a previous address you used in the past and click on it.  You'll be taken to a page for that address w/ hash, and the recent transactions for that address are shown.  There's a small link under the summary section called 'Taint Analysis.'  Click that and find out a calculated % for the probability of the origin for a transaction with that address.

You guys should look at about using the Bitmit wallet when ever i send a payment from bitmit it is received from many addresses (+4) and keep continuing after, it's kinda like jumping off a train you don't know where your gonna land and no one knows where you came from  :P it seems like it's plenty tumbled.
