Title: GPG Keychain Access Question
Post by: gn0ssos on September 20, 2013, 06:38 pm
Where do I find my Public Key Block in Keychain Access? When I click on my key it has a short key like this: 8F354E62B2F7229F rather than the full Public Key Block. Tried exporting it but it's just the ASCII file.. no help there. I guess it doesn't really matter anyway since I probably won't need to send my key to anyone...

Keychain access? What are you using?  gpg4usb?  Gpg4win?

With Gpg4win:  in GPA... you can just right click your key, select copy, then paste your public key where ever.

Gpg4usb:  Right click your key, select "append selected keys to text"... and now you should see the public key in the text box on the left... copy/paste.

If you're using gpgtools for mac... idk, I'm not a mac guy sorry.

This is easy. Just highlight the key you want to get and choose File>Export... and choose ASCII as the format. You will get a file that is (keyid).asc. The contents of that file will be text version of the key.

Be aware that you don't need to send your key to a vendor unless you are exchanging info. If you're just buying, you only need to import the vendor's key and use that to encrypt your address/message.
