Title: Please help, if you can...
Post by: WinstonWolfe on August 21, 2013, 08:05 am
I'm not accustomed to asking for help, much less begging for money, but I've found myself in a bit of a jam.

As you can see from the above letter (see my listing, here:  http://silkroadvb5piz3r.onion/silkroad/item/d66c58f8eb), I have to come up with something over $7000 by mid-September or my house goes into foreclosure.

This house is the only asset I have; everything else went in the divorce.  I got the kids and the house, and that's all I wanted. I've been making payments for 20 years on the 30 year loan, and my youngest has four years left before college.  I have five years under my belt after a major organ transplant, so this is all pretty much a crap shoot, anyway...

So, I'm here to appeal to the SR community:  I think I can come up with about $3000; and if each of my fans donated .1 btc, I'd be getting pretty close.  If you can, please consider helping the Wolfe out.  I'll even take donations from people who aren't my fans.  Those of you who have dealt with me know I'd do the same for you.

You can buy this listing. and send your donation to:  1JoQjquvHyowCKAyYjkghe9WqvWwwu3N23.  That way I can know who my benefactors are.  Or if you wish to remain anonymous, just skip buying the listing and donate directly to that same address.  Either way, any help you can give is greatly appreciated.  Or...just transfer directly to my SR account.

Thank you all very much, and as always, take care--

WinstonWolfe

As you can see from the above letter (see my listing, here:  http://silkroadvb5piz3r.onion/silkroad/item/d66c58f8eb), I have to come up with something over $7000 by September 15th (the letter says August 31st, but I've gotten an extension), or my house goes into foreclosure.

I just banged .1 over to your SR account direct. Buying the listing and all that seemed like a long-winded way to go and i need to tumble coins to send to that wallet you gave. Hope you get to keep your house buddy.

I understand that you're desperate, but this is pretty tacky imo.  And that letter is unreadable btw.

Maybe he wants out of SR because of all the changes being forced on vendors.

I don't think it's creepy or tacky at all. Desperate times call for desperate measures. Any of YOU ever been homeless? Probably not. With kids it's got to be even more nerve wracking so cut him slack and show some courtesy. I've been on the streets a few different times and it wasn't some fucked up choice I made to get me there either. Shit happens. Begging for change is one of the most demeaning things but what do you do when you're hungry and day labor didn't have enough work that day?

$7000 is a lot to come up with but I bet you could sell off non-essentials and that could help. Get another legit job or find a way to boost your sales. You've got a little less that 30 days. If it comes down to the wire try to do a short sale on your home. You'll lose a lot of money but at least there won't be a foreclosure on your record. You can then take the short sale cash and just buy a smaller home in a different neighborhood. You don't want that foreclosure. Honestly, short sale sounds like it may be your best bet considering there is less that 30 days left. Right? Good luck.

Well I find this may just be a scam.
I mean, how many homes are foreclosed and have that exact date on it? Probably not more than a thousand or couple thousand. Which means you would have narrowed your identity to a small number of people.
I don't think you would do this. Why would you? That's why I'm calling scam. Sorry, because t may not be, but I'm far too careful on here.

Well hope it all gets worked out for you.
Sell more drugs! That will help  :)

Dingo Ate My Drugs--I totally understand your concern..and I have to say I had not anticipated it.  I knew people would hammer me just for making the post, but I hadn't thought about scam allegations.  And, no, there's not any way I can prove that my request is legit.  If it helps to ease anyone's mind, rest assured that I wouldn't be selling these (http://silkroadvb5piz3r.onion/silkroad/item/16183afd7e) if I didn't really, really need the money.
Well I hope it works out for you.
I'm having money problems of my own, but not as bad.
I'm expecting mine so sort itself out in the next few weeks.

Major props to you for having the stones to ask. I lost my house after my cycle accident, as I didn't have health insurance, and the guy who splatted me was without a license or insurance. My hosp bills <$100,000, so the bank took my house as collateral on the bill, and I still ended up declaring bankruptcy.

I salute your fortitude, and willingness to do what it takes to keep your family safe. I wish you well, and there is just something about you that I like.

May you always find shade, may the wind be at your back, and may your path rise up to meet your feet.

Happy to hear how your situation resolved!  What an amazing show of generosity by abcabcabccba, it's warming to the heart to know there are perfect strangers out there in the world who are willing to put their trust in people and pay it forward to help others, especially such a large amount! Best of luck to you and your family in the future WinstonWolfe.

YAY! Hadn't visited this thread to see how thing were going but I am glad they went well for you. Hopefully you were able to get a good perspective on how to hopefully not be put in that situation again. How awesome of the SR community to help someone that much. =)

When you think of it it's just beautiful really. WinstonWolfe I sure hope that if one day you have the money again and SR is still around you'll pay these guys back. Either way. Peace

I don't think there is anything wrong with asking for help and I would if I could but it seems like you have put up an awful lot of identifying info...maybe I am missing something.

Hi WinstonWolfe.

Glad you got out of your bind.

Can I just ask - before you got out of your bind, would selling your house have solved the problem?

I'm just curious, as although this read as a "please save my family" kind of post, I'm not sure that it really was that dire?

It sounded to me like - 'please help me save my valuable asset'.

So, I want to thank these people, beginning with PureOBrad, whose contribution ended up being about 15% of what was raised. These people each donated from $0.01 to $50: 0898, Remediless, chicagomix, farmersteve (3 times), riptupac12, metaphoe, whocares79, babalon333, Homeboy Awesome (3 times), Divo, redcat44, starsnowstorm (3 times), Bheimer, arana1001, uksuss, 2xT4eB, Nikawa, miscprepons, and journeyeast4444. I don't think I missed anyone, but I probably did...

Then, when it came down to the wire, I got a pm from "abcabcabccba" who asked me how short I was of my goal.  I told him, then almost shat myself when 3 hours later 18฿ showed up in my account, along with this pm:

"I sent 18฿ to your Silk Road Account. I have no way to know if your honest about your situation but I had the ฿ and if I could help someone I feel I should. I wont be on this Account again so dont bother sending a message back. I hope this helps and you have better times in the future."

I don't know what to feel/think/say to "abcabcabccba" and everyone else, except this:

When made this post, I caught a little bit of shit, but not too bad.  Still, I never thought I'd end up getting this kind of response. Thank you to each of you. Because of your kindness and generosity my daughter will be able to spend the rest of her childhood, and my remaining time in the only home she's ever known.
Oh Goddess, that's beautiful :)

I've read through the rest of the thread and I'm still crying. I know that people are willing to risk small amounts to help strangers in the Spare Coins thread but the generosity and trust of the people you listed, especially abcabcabccba and PureOBrad, is truly overwhelming. I'd hug both them and you if I could.
