Title: Kinder Eggs
Post by: WireNinja on July 19, 2012, 05:15 pm
I don't know how much interest there is in this, but I absolutely love Kinder Eggs and they make great presents.

However, they're illegal in the U.S. A man was almost fined $15k for attempting to bring them over the US/Canadian border.

If any seller wants to list them, I think they might be popular and certainly a really adorable way to highlight that a lot of things we traffic in here are perfectly safe.

This is actually true.
I wouldn't mind Kinder Eggs. They're quite tasty and the surprise is always amazing.

That'd be brilliant- don't know if there's much of a market. I see them being a bit diverting, and somewhat collectable. That's it, really. :-\

Btw, $15k seems an exorbitant penalty for what is basically a blatantly noticeable plastic capsule. Nevertheless it would not surprise me if there were some customs official sweating about the consumers somehow upsetting the balance of state-subsidized Health Insurance costs. Indeed, those capsules do look tasty!

They call this sorry country the United States of Paranoia. :-\

Just thought I'd leave a passing remark on that. At first glance, it seemed like a viable idea, but I'm not sure of one's ability to peddle chocolate eggs on the quasi-blackmarket.  ;D

They aren't particularly cheap to start with and shipping them would add to that and then the fee of a vendor's account would mean selling a fair few to make it worthwhile, unless done by a pre-existing vendor.

So either commission someone with whimsy, and lots of business, or screw it instead.?  :o That's 'orrible.

If I were a reasonably established vendor (making enough bank to spare the expense) I'd probably see this and decide to start packaging them in with random and not so random orders.

Hint hint.

I don't think it'd be that much more overhead. I mean, they're not hard to source- you can literally buy them in any grocery or candy store in Canada and Europe. If an existing seller wanted to put a listing up for 10% markup + shipping, he'd make a small profit at least without any risk.

It'd be kind of cool if there were sellers who specialized in non-drug items on the Road, anyway. Drugs are great, but there are tons of food products and other items which are illegal for economic reasons- the government obstructing free trade simply to prop itself up. I'd like to see us begin to subvert that more as well as the drug laws.

They are illegal in the USA? Ahaha your country is so backwards, it's almost back to normal.

On January 10, 2011, it was reported that a Kinder egg was seized from a woman's car during a random inspection while entering the United States from Canada. She was informed that bringing the egg into the United States could result in a $300 fine.

Ahahahaha. How can you take yourself seriously as a customs agent if you seize.... KINDER EGGS :D
