Title: Upgraded to TOR 2.4.17-rc; much better
Post by: goblin on September 09, 2013, 02:25 am
Since I upgraded to TOR 2.4.17-rc I've been getting in much more easily to both the main site and the forums. I'm not saying problem's over, not by a long shot. But it appears to help.

Mh, I don't know if this is true. My guess is that it is more a matter of when you are trying to log in.
Ether I can't even get to the log in screen because of timeouts or SR is SUPER fast, like, clearnet fast. SR never was that fast since I'm using it.

The forum by the way always seems to be accessible more often then the main site.

I upgraded to 2.4.17 about a day ago and my connection is still shit. The log says lots of disconnects or "giving up" on connections. I don't notice a difference with any of the Tor sites or services  :(

That only works properly when you are connecting to an entry node with the same version. I looked up entry guards with the latest version on torstatus.blutmagie.de and put their fingerprints into my EntryNodes option.
Sometimes I still have problems connecting to the hidden service. In that case I use ARM to get a new identity, which often helps. Not sure how it works in Vidalia.
