Title: Topix.com or local.com using the tor
Post by: Indubitably on February 23, 2013, 05:10 pm
Does anyone know why topix.com and sometimes local.com can see where we are located while we use the tor browser? Just asking because I don't know if it is a lapse in the security settings that I have or if this is something that the Tor network knows about and is of no importance.

even though your IP address is masked through a series of others, if a site needs a location it will use the end one of the proxy you are using. there's no IP addresses that i'm aware of that have no location connected to them but the location showing shouldn't be your actual one.. i'm not massively tech savvy so hope that makes sense
