Title: Escrow - how important is it to you?
Post by: This_is_not_SOCA on October 06, 2013, 10:11 am
If one or more new sites or trading platforms appeared to fill the gap left by SR's demise, how important is escrow to you?

Somethings are easy, somethings are difficult. Having a functional Escrow can create certain design constraints.

Trust / Feedback is important, but there always seemed to be a doubt about shills - especially when feedback was very positive but left by an anonymous user. I appreciate what you're saying about it introducing design constraints but it's too easy for a vendor (even trusted ones) to scam people without any sort of escrow.

In a market like this escrow means everything. It should have some sort of system to make faking feedback more difficult or costly though. There should be a 24 hour delay before people can finalize an order, or requesting early finalization should be against the rules, or both.

Just my opinions.

For me, I feel that escrow is essential. If I build up trust with a vendor over the course of many transactions then this might, perhaps, not be so important with that individual.
