How long can you have alprazolam before it starts degrading? I was thinking about stocking up on xanax and plan to keep them for about year. Does this sound like a good idea?
Thank you

Depends on if it is a pill, raw powder, a liquid solution etc.

Quite a while, I've heard that most dry tablets last will outlive you when stored in a safe, normal, enviorment.

I have a feeling a typical Xanax will last quite a long time (I'm thinking years) assuming it's kept in a dry environment and also kept out of the sun. I don't know if sun will *for sure* degrade the pills but I know it is the case for certain types of pills so might as well not take the chance.
If old Xanax were to cause health issues then I doubt they'd be willing to prescribe it as much as they do. People naturally have a tendency to still take pills long after their shelf-life and if that were dangerous it would be a huge liability to whoever is manufacturing the pills.

This is mostly true - as long as you keep them dark, dry/sealed, and not in an overly hot place, they will remain effective for centuries.
This is for factory made blister tablets though, for raw powders exposed to air it could be less.
