Title: Message - add random delay when sending a message
Post by: crystal on August 25, 2013, 07:22 pm
Hi

An option (in profile page) to automatically add some random delay when sending a message would be interesting to protect against a timing attack, and to allow a better privacy.

It could be the same random delay (5min to 12 hours for example) for all users who chose to use it, or there could be different options and each one of us could choose (5 - 45 min delay / 2 - 12 hours delay).

That way if userA wants to write to userB, it wouldn't be possible to userB to guess the timezone or (at least) when userA was connected to TOR, and that would protect userB too when he answers to userA.

userA click 'send' at 1:00PM > SR messaging system adds the message to the queue, with a random generated timestamp for delivrery (example: +77minutes) > into userB can see the message in his inbox at 2:17PM, while userA is disconnected from TOR...

edit: the ability to do so in the forums would be nice, too!
