Title: How far do you drive to do drop offs?
Post by: rednelb1 on April 16, 2012, 05:41 pm
Just curious. Do you at least want to get out of the zip code? Or would a 30+ minute drive be better?

depends on how close of an area you would like LE to be able to narrow you down to. I would say to pick an area that is a comfortable distance from you and make that the "center" of your shipping area, then travel ~30 minutes from that center to make your drops. and when you change your "center", don't use any logic that would be able to identify your actual location. The more random, the better.

^ -  That.

I.E. Do not make the only criteria for a drop off be 30min from your house. That makes the center of dropping activity, that's right, to be your house.

His tips above me are awesome!! When picking a new "center", aim for high income areas near you. Try not to go to "poorer" areas. Sounds bad I know... but poorer areas are normally more suspect for drug trafficking and thus poor drop off points.

I remember reading about this dealer that too not get caught only dealed in a specific radius that was several miles off from his house, and from the place where he kept his supply.Long list of things he did, seemed like he'll never get caught.

As far as a whole 3/4 tank will take you.  The profit should make up for it.  8)

Well spoken, everybody should listen to the song "Ten Crack Commandments" with Notorious B.I.G.

Words of wisdom for a business such as this.

20+ miles.
i live in a tiny town at the end of the shipping route. one road in same one goes out.
so i have to drive to the city. otherwise it looks hella strange to have 10 packs go out at once

Obviously where you live is going to be a factor. You'd imagine someone in a dense city with millions of other people around and mailboxes everywhere is going to have an easier time than someone doing the suburban or rural thing. Just magnitudes and magnitudes more variables and higher mail volume. Postal workers less likely to notice trends amongst the noise.
Only thing I'd say to that is that bigger cities are more likely to have video cameras in them. I believe that's how Enelysion was caught, IIRC.

How about this scenario.. although rare....

I live in zip code XX123
I tend to ship from 30 minute radius boxes around the city. Quite Random..
What if another vender in the same state decide to drive through my hood and use the box in XX123? I have several residential drop boxes in my hood that would be perfect. NO CAMS, or anything.
Would that jeopardize me without even knowing it?

I would use the nearest big city and use multiple blue boxes throughout it scattered and don't send them all at once but half and half.
