I know it's a stimulant, and an empathogen, but I've heard accounts of people having closed eye visuals and even open eyed ones. I've never tried it first hand so that's why I'm looking for opinions. What do you think?

I've heard of OEVs like "Mario doing backflips in the sky", but I don't think it's common.

It's not. MDA is..

Not really, unless you take LARGE doses maybe. I think this conception comes from the fact that mixing MDMA with OTHER hallucinogens can causes better/more intense visuals; hence the terms hippyflipping (Mushrooms + MDMA) and candyflipping (LSD + MDMA).

Neuropsychology major here. MDMA is considered a psychedelic but it first and foremost falls into its own unique class called Empathogen-Enactogen. MDMA can result in psychedelic effects along the lines of very mild visual and auditory distortions, like a flanging effect on music and peoples' voices or an enhanced texture on objects. It also can result in elaborate and distorted mental imagery, but besides that there's really nothing else. Hope this helped and stay safe.

MDMA can have psychedelic effects like the brightening of colors, mild closed eye visuals, increased detail in sound and such, but MDA is known to cause mild open eye visuals at high doses. Personally, I have experienced fractal patterns on the surface of objects while on around 120mg of MDA. Hope this clears up the difference between the two :)
