Title: Problem Installing Tails
Post by: Remarkable on August 12, 2013, 11:04 pm
I want to ask you for some tips on installing Tails OS, I've been trying every technique and it just won't work for some reason, I tried using Unetbootin, Universal-USB-Installer, and YUMI to install the Tails iso image onto a flashdrive and with everyone of those it never starts I just get a black screen with a flashing __ in the top left hand corner. I even tried formatting the usb drive from fdd to hdd and zip with Bootice and that didnt help, I also tried extracting the iso file to a dvd and booting with that and same thing. I have no idea what else to try or if the issue has something to do with my usb drive (I'm using an 8gb Sandisk) or something with computer?

If you can try the USB on another computer, I'd recommend it. Most likely it isn't the installation on the USB, if you've followed the tutorials and used the installers you mentioned. Your computer just might not support Tails in its current configuration. Certain models don't work at all, and others require you making some BIOS changes first.

Burn the ISO onto a DVD, then create a bootable USB from that..... keep it simple :)
