Hello! I am a brand new user to Silk Road, and was wondering if any of the more experienced forum users had some good "first-timer" advice to using Silk Road. I Have just recently bought about $50 worth of bitcoins, and I am a little reluctant to spend until I get a little bit of information and/or advice on buying and just proper etiquette on the whole transaction. Thanks :)

-The wiki has a lot of good info for people just starting out - http://dkn255hz262ypmii.onion/wiki/index.php/Main_Page
-Research who you're buying from - if you go to the "Rumor Mill" section of the forum - there's a bunch of stickies in that thread for most popular items here - that'll get you a list of sellers that have been vouched for over time. Once you find something on the main site, look up the sellers name on the board here - you'll usually find some reviews of their service and products. Also might find that they post in the forum - good way to see how they deal w/ customers. If you don't see anything about the seller on the forum...i'd stay away, especially if you're brand new.
-Set yourself up a bitwallet - lot safer than transferring funds directly from a site like mtgox to silk road.
-Read up on PGP and get that set up - kind of a pain to learn, but there's a lot of threads here explaining it, and it's an extra layer of security.

Read through the threads on this forum, especially anything related to buying, selling, shipping and packaging.

Follow your instincts if it seems too good more than likely it's a scam...I had to learn the hard way....Good Luck
