This may have been suggested before but if not....
Since there has been a number of vendors performing exit scams. Would it not be a good idea for SR vendors to have some sort of retirement/pension fund that would be released when their account is closed in good standing?
For example, a vendor could have 1% (probably less) of each transaction automatically put into this fund. This would mean that the greater the number of transactions a vendor has - the less likely they would be to perform an exit scam. In some cases it would be financial suicide.
I doubt any buyers would even notice something like a 1% rise in prices if vendors passed on the cost and the vendor could look forward to a big lump sum when they close shop.
I'm sure there's plenty of factors I haven't considered but would such a fund not drastically reduce exit scams and possibly even eliminate them?

This is a good idea :)

hi hi
yea, sure. pensions have worked out SO well in the real world...... ask any teacher or city worker how that's going for them.
i'm not cool with anyone touching my coins and keeping them for the life of this account. i earned them. they're mine. and i should be able to do what i wish with them. heaven forbid anything happens to SR, then all our "retirement" accounts are gone. this is stupid.
i also do not intend to be retiring - so that whatever percent would effectively be gone forever from my pocket. real nice.
horrible idea.
and before you make assumptions "no one will notice higher prices" go read all the threads saying how the fees recently went up and everyone cried bloody murder. it was like MAYBE 2-3+ % on expensive orders and you'd think the world ended.
you wanna reduce exit scams? dont f*ing FE. it's simple.

It could easily be something that vendors can choose to opt into. Those that choose to opt in could advertise that fact.
It's all very well saying that exit scams would end if people stopped FE'ing but the simple fact is that people do FE and will continue to FE.
It's not just about exit scams though. A rogue vendor is less likely to threaten buyers or selectively scam if their nest egg is at risk.

Furthermore, even if you don't intend to retire - you could always close one account and start another. Your new account would have far less credibility but at least you'd get all your retirement fund back from the previous account.
Consider also the possibility of being jailed or somehow cut off from trading for an extended period. All customers with orders processing would have their money returned (which would happen anyway) but when you came back at least you could close the account and receive a decent sum to either start a new account or new life. I'm sure there's plenty of successful criminals coming out of prison today that wish to fuck they'd kept 1% of their career earnings.

hi hi
opt in? fine. just as long as you leave me OUT of it.
you speak like a true buyer and not a vendor. dont take that the wrong way.
it's quite a bit arrogant to think "oh just close down your account and make a new one" when i've spent a very good deal of time being a solid legitimate vendor and NEVER asking my buyers to FE. my reputation for that is something i'm quite proud of.
it IS quite simple to NOT FE. no one is forcing a gun to anyone's head. and to try and protect the buyers that do FE is silly. there's an old adage that goes something like this: "a fool and his money will soon be parted" simply because that is true does not mean that the rest of us vendors who operate inside escrow and follow the rules should be penalized.
also, i find it hard to believe any vendors are "selectively scamming" - did you ever stop to think perhaps the buyer didnt enter his or her shipping details accurately? or that they're lying to try and get free drugs? it's more hassle for a vendor to screw someone than to just send the product and collect the coins. it's SO easy to just do the right thing and continue on.
"rouge vendor"? what does that even mean? try more like a vendor who lost their connect and is going to make one last hoo-rah before they fade away.
possibility of being jailed? how? i take every security precaution and have no underlings to roll on me. i will NOT ever be jailed for this. in fact, i will NEVER have underlings or anyone in real life that knows wtf i'm doing. the only way vendors get jailed is by fucking up a face to face transaction or having someone snitch. if no one knows, no one can snitch.
you are trying to protect every buyer who's stupid enough to "FE for trusted vendor" and at the same time are punishing the solid vendors who do the right thing all the time and remain in escrow. in my humble opinion, a "trusted vendor" is not a vendor with a 100 rating. it's a vendor that ALWAYS remains in escrow. ALWAYS.
dont hurt me because some asshole hurt you or someone else. that's not cool.
i agree exit scams are horrible. but, the easy way to combat them is to simply NEVER FE! JUST DONT DO IT!!!

You've been trading here for a month - which in your own words is "a very good deal of time being a solid legitimate vendor". ;)
In that time you've concluded that...
1) There is no possibility whatsoever that you will ever be jailed. Presumably you have no interaction at all with the rest of society and you are completely unhindered by emotions. You also have absolute faith in justice and don't believe that anyone other than the idiotic guilty are in jail. Can I also assume you have no DNA?
2) No vendors selectively scam.
3) All buyers that FE are stupid. I half agree with you here but I also feel that occasionally FE can serve a valuable purpose such as when a vendor deals with a brand new/suspicious buyer or when a vendor is asked to ship outside their usual shipping zone. FE needn't be a bad thing, it protects vendors and if a "retirement fund" was implemented then more buyers would be happy to FE and would be safer doing it. As a result less vendors would get scammed and their cash flow would improve.
4) SR buyers who trade/sell or own businesses outside of SR don't exist. An SR buyer cannot possibly have experience of being a vendor of any kind and certainly not more experience than someone who has been a vendor here for a month.
5) The word ROGUE is made up.
I think I may have heard that phrase "NEVER FE!" once before but I'm not sure. As I said before, no matter how many times you say it - people will continue to FE and a lot of vendors will continue to ask for it. You may as well tell horny kids to not have sex rather than just accept it will happen and and protect them by giving them access to condoms.
I suspect you think I've got something against SR vendors or at least have an "us and them" view. I really haven't. I think such a fund would lead to fewer scams which would increase customer confidence, increase customer numbers and ultimately would lead to greater profits for vendors.

Agree that if you don't FE there is no way a vendor can make a huge amount off an exit scam. When I was a buyer there was a vendor scam who attempted an exit scam without requiring FE however soon as SR caught wind of 5-6 orders not arriving they froze their account and we were all offered 100% refund since we did not FE.

hi hi
@vaper - you're entitled to your opinions, and that's totally fine. however, i simply dont agree with you on this.
first of all, you assume this is my first rodeo into the world of illicit activity. you are completely incorrect. i will not EVER divulge my history, just that i've been "around" much longer than 1 month.
FE is and has always been a gamble, and it's the buyer's responsibility and choice to FE or not to FE. no vendor *forces* you to FE. they may require it to do business with them, but none - NONE - of them have a gun to your head forcing you to click the button. you're trying to protect the lowest common denominator of greedy addicts who want a deal that's "too good to be true" and will FE for it. they're flat out dumb, no matter how you slice it. in return you propose a detrimental "tax" (under the guise of a "retirement fund") on ALL vendors because a few jerks made off with some idiot's coins.
i have next to no compassion for a buyer that gets taken by an exit scam when they're SO clearly obvious. pages and pages of "FE will update later" or "FE for trusted vendor" and the prices are crazy good, and it's products that vendor has no history of selling, with reasoning to need FE that borders on bullshit. no compassion there. that was a dumb move to buy. it was greedy, and they got bit. do i applaud the vendor for these antics? FUCK NO! in fact, i have quite a bit of anger towards them for giving the rest of us bad juju.
also, FYI, vendors get scammed with FE-buyers too. buyers frequently will hold feedback hostage to try and claim a pack never made it, the gear was bunk, etc etc. FE is simply bad all around. yes there are instances where a vendor may feel more "at ease" if the buyer will FE first, like shipping to a customs-crazy location.... however, there are vendors who ship to those locations that DONT require FE... or if it's a big bulk order the buyer wants, i could see a vendor wanting FE first.... however, if buyer has proper stats - that shouldnt be necessary. and if they dont have proper stats, then they should build them up first instead of begging for bulk and promising FE.
PS: there is not, never was, and never will be, a SHRED of DNA, hair, fingerprints, or anything of that nature on, or in, any of my packages. i take my security very very seriously. the way i operate there is quite literally a zero percent chance of police finding me out.
PPS: please dont compare condoms and sex ed with your proposal on FE and retirement tax. the analogy doenst exactly hold water... condoms protect both parties - in this case that protection would be STAYING INSIDE ESCROW. staying in escrow means you have SR protection and admin will come to fair resolution. FE means you're on your own.
