Title: Thunderbird with PGP - anonymous email?
Post by: Lucy23 on April 20, 2013, 06:06 am
I've been trying to setup a anonymous email account using Mozilla Thunderbird as my email GUI, but I seem to be having issues finding a email provider that I can create a anonomous account with and input pop/imap into thunderbird. I tried a few that allowed me to make accounts and provided external pop access (safe-mail.net and one other) but i ended up getting errors on finalizing the manual server account info.

My plan is to use a open 'elite' proxy with thunderbird, and always use PGP, creating a good anonymous environment.

If anyone could give a good recommendation, I would appreciate it. I dont feel comfortable using my gmail (even if it is PGP encrypted) as that is linked to my identity.

Alternatives/methods are also recommended.

Thanks

Most people just use Tormail ----> http://jhiwjjlqpyawmpjx.onion/

You don't really need an email to do business here, though.

I think im missing something. Do vendors expect you to just paste a PGP encrypted message into the SR order?

I always thought that I needed to get their pgp key and look it up on the keyserver to send them a pgp email.

Am I off?

Yes, you will just paste your encrypted address into the address box when you place an order. Most vendors have a Tormail address, but they typically only check it when SR is down.

I really doubt any of them have their pgp keys on a keyserver, some vendors don't even have valid email addresses associated with their pgp keys. I only use it to encrypt my address when ordering. No need for email communitcation on sr, really.

As some vendor wrote in his description: "Please use PGP for address only, not chitchat"

Yea, I think I got confused by this thunderbird bit. I dont see a easy way to just encrypt a message, i thought this was all to be done through email.

I guess I need to do abit more research on how to create a message using the key (and not email)

Thanks
