Title: PGP in messages??/
Post by: graffix on March 12, 2013, 07:42 pm
So I got PGP installed, setup my keys.

So lets say I sent someone a message, do I send them my public key, then my encrypted message?

Im guessing thats how it works, right?

Yes that is correct.

You don't need to use PGP for messages. Use it for your address unless you are paranoid and want to annoy vendors, just a heads up. You import their public key, encrypt a message to them, then send them the encrypted message. Your public key is only needed for them to reply to you in PGP, which as I said before is unnecessary.

Ahh ok thanks!

Well there are a few vendors that I wanted to order from that have their pgp keys out in their profile. So I was just thinking its something good to pick up on.

Yeah, that's what's nice about importing keys, once theyre imported they stay there. PGP really is great.
