Title: Shipping from UK to Ireland?
Post by: Rockzo on January 26, 2013, 03:15 pm
Hey,

Could anyone inform me about shipping illegal products from UK to Ireland, how safe is it? I mean, is there a lot of bordercontrols?

Thanks!

Importing from the UK to Ireland is generally safe for three reasons:

First, the UK is within the EU, and so packages are not automatically subject to examination by customs; all products coming from outside the EU are examined to determine whether the recipient is liable to pay VAT on the goods, which of course means there is a far greater chance that illegal products will be detected and seized

Second, the UK is not considered a 'high risk' country, unlike say the Netherlands (or possibly some Eastern European countries)

Third, a relatively large quantity of mail comes into Ireland from the UK everyday, which means any individual package stands a relatively small chance of being examined

Hope that answers your question
