Title: Any reason to be weary of new vendors?
Post by: BulkChemBuyer on August 02, 2012, 07:12 am
There's a new vendor that just popped up that has a great deal that I'd like. However, he has literally 0 reviews. What's weird is that the account is 7 months old.

He's not requiring FE, so it doesn't look like he's scamming. LE maybe? He has a very limited quantity of the item I want (at an absurdly low price btw) so I don't want him to sell out.

Should I just go for it? If it is LE, what could happen? There's still no proof that I'm the one who actually ordered it, so why would LE do this anyway?

A link to the listing would help.

Odd, he doesn't require FE so if a good deal was avaliable I'd take it.
He also seems to have some knowledge according to his listing details.

Yeah, thats a bit weird, the thing I find most disturbing is that all of his listings don`t have a proper picture, just a YKK zipper. Maybe its best to contact him first, I wouldn`t FE in any case even with a low priced listing.

Yeah well definitely won't FE. He only requires it for people with <10 transactions so I'm good. If he has something priced **absurdly** low, should I not order it?

Its really up to you man, what exactly do you want to buy (listing)? Its possible he`s a scammer, but its also possible he`s legit. Hard to say why he`s still around after a long time with no sales though.

What confuses me is the Newports and rolls of quarters.. strange.  :o

Yeah, I think that does it. I don`t think I would buy from this dude, looks like a scam waiting to happen.

Easy way to test. Buy a roll of quarters. Buying money is legal.  ???

Laundering money isn't legal, one of the biggest security thread to vendors is trying to securely cash out. Selling money on SR could be being done to target likely vendors to be put under surveillance.

You make a good point. So it's money laundering but with quarters? But it would be quarters for bitcoin. Wouldn't it be bitcoin for quarters to make more sense? I'm confused.

Money laundering can be done in many many many ways, its simply the act of turning illegally obtained money into something without a trace to the illegal activity. Vendors would be the bigger target, vendors need to turn bitcoin into real money, to re-up and buy things. Most drug dealers up the chain don't want digital crypto currency, yet.

Lol not like that, no-one launders money with small amounts like that, its probably because those quarter`s metal value when melted for industrial uses.

US quarters are made of zinc and nickel. Back before '64 they were silver. The modern quarters melted down are essentially worthless and melting US currency besides old silver coins is a crime.

Hmm, good point. I guess if they were made of silver, the dude wouldn`t be selling them. I wonder what he`s selling them for...

Lol, I dunno man. Its been 7 months and he has 0 transactions. It seems like by the time he gets 10 reviews, you`ll be an old man.
