From my point of view I like to listen to Shpongle or EOTO and mostly all good dubstep/drumstep
Anyone want to throw out some good vibes? ::)
-
Jimi Hendrix, Modest Mouse, Shpongle can be good sometimes, Classical, to name a few. But really on psychedelics, anything!
-
That is true. but some stuff just doesnt float my boat
Now Ive seen EOTO a few times on Psyches and it does the trick for me
check out this

You can't go wrong with either Phish, or The Dead IMHO.
-
When tripping I love to listen to beatless music. Minimal, Ambient, Drone. Anything with a beat fucks with me.
-
Animal collective, Butthole Surfers, John Fruscaintes first two albums, tool, captain beefheart, cream, the unicorns, hawkwind, the mars volta, neutral milk hotel, the olivia tremor control, the doors, at the drive in, ween, and wolf parde.
These will blow your mind away
-
awhh yes I like all of those.
Bassnectar, Emancipator, Umphreys, dj gummy.
-
I'm somewhat surprised that Shpongle is so well known! I always listen to them and Infected Mushroom, there's something about middle eastern themed trance that I just find irresistible while tripping
-
Bluetech, Ethenogenic and Ott are also great psydub artists.
-
Meshuggah, Watain, Gojira, MASTODON... Hellyeah for Vinnie Paul... Steel Panther if you want some comedy with throbbing riffs and slashing solos... Its gotta be heavy for me!
But for something to get you bopping, funk/blues/jazz , Black Joe Lewis and The Honeybears! PooTube mustang ranch, best filmclip, and booty city... make sure you're nicely toasted, but you don't have to be! These guys will get even the most uptight of classical fans tapping their toes!!!
-
Pretty Lights =). he has some really cool tripping music, highly recommend.
mostly his passing behind your eyes album
-
I forgot one major band that is just perfect for tripping. PINK FLOYD!!! I FUCKING LOVE THEM!
-
I forgot one major band that is just perfect for tripping. PINK FLOYD!!! I FUCKING LOVE THEM!
+1
I was weaned on floyd and black sabbath... yes, hippie parents!
-
Dude same here haha. Have you tripped to black sabbath before? Its dope haha. And whats your fav. pink floyd album? I'm a fan of piper at the gates of dawn, saucerful of secrets, Ummagumma, Meddle, Atom Heart Mother, And of course Dark Side of the MOon. AND wish you were here. SO BRILLIANT!
And do you like velvet Underground? Lou Reed is just amazing. Or what about david bowies coke albums? So goooood haha
-
PAGOD is great, if only coz its ALL Syd! The old man used to run Zabriskie Pt, UG and Relics all the time! Their titles are trippy enough without even hearing the music, several species of small furry creatures gathered together in a cave and grooving with a pict. I do like their psych stuff, but I lean more toward the instrumental rock side of Floyd - The whole Animals album, both parts to shine on! I love watching the Wall tripping balls, seeing a massive Arse walking around passing judgement rings strangely true for some reason!!!
I'm a musician myself, brass instruments and percussion, but teaching myself guitar a few years back, noone helped more than Gilmour!
-
The entire Dubstep Album of Mt Eden.
-
Dude I play a shitload of instruments too haha. And yeah animals is good too(tripped on a eigth the first time listening to it :D ) The wall tho is alright but I haven't seen the movie which probably makes everything better haha. And yeah shine on is what i meant by wish you were here lol. Epic stuff
Have you listened to Smile to the streets and Nirande usually with a T'shirt by john fruscainte? He's one of my biggest inspirations
-
The entire Dubstep Album of Mt Eden.
major agreed. Do you like excision? I think his beats are stellar
-
I forgot one major band that is just perfect for tripping. PINK FLOYD!!! I FUCKING LOVE THEM!
I love pink floyd stoned, or sober, but not tripping. My second and last bad trip was because of the music video to comfortably numb. Ever since then Pink Floyd was too dark for me to listen to during trips
-
I dont know about listening to pink floyd tripping. I love floyd but not tripping lol.. but stoned or sober on the other hand :)
-
The sounds of police sirens calm me when i'm tripping....
-
I'll tell you amazing. The new Burial ep. Kindred. It's on a whole other level of jaw dropping goodness.
-
Okay lol, I know this is a music discussion but...
You guys have to watch this video, too god damn funny

JAZZ!!!!!!!! JAZZ IS THE BEST !!! even if you dont like jazz (which i dont really), it's still fucking awesome tripping!! I'm pumped I'm the first one to post anything about jazz. Go with Miles Davis and John Coltrane Columbia recordings and/or "Jazz at massey" w/ Dizzy gillespie, charlie parker, charles mingus and others! it's mind blowing. Rhapsody in blue is a badass song too to throw in there
Other choice include:
Pink Floyd - Ummagumma(live and studio albums; live for LSD and studio for mushies. imo), shine on you crazy diamond, and echoes
Tool - 10,000 days (both the album and the song of same name)
Classical- Classical is fun and imaginative similar to Jazz; Go with something from the classical era like Mozart and try to stick to concertos and/or symphonies - they tend to be the busiest (e.g. best trip experience)
Bucket, +1 for Lou reed and VU. Fucking <3 Lou, like I cannot express
Edit: I pretty much went straight from here to makinga Lo Reed Appreciation thread. LOL!! i dont know why, but anyone who digs lou reed and the Velvet Underground should check it for sure:

Orange Goblin "frequencies from planet ten" great album from a great band.
-
I love modest mouse! Always get my head wrapped up in the music and end up in awesome places, kinda dark sometimes but there is absolutely nothing else that I enjoy listening to more.
-
+1 for 10,000 days (the album). The whole record flows so well, I never skip songs! Listening to that record in the dark with headphones on and a nice fat spliff in hand never gets old. Oh, and one of the songs is called "Lost Keys (Blame Hoffman)" and lyrics of this song -WARNING CLEARNET- http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/tool/rosettastoned.html - WARNING CLEARNET - have more drug references than I can be bothered to count!
And ShieLdz, what are your top 3 jazz albums? I've been meaning to get in to jazz for a while, but I'm never sure where to start!

If you don't know where to start, start with Miles! he'll never do you wrong ;) In particular his album "kind of blue" the song "so what" is my favorite jazz song of all time, followed by "flamenco sketches" which is also on kind of blue"; Another MUST have jazz album is "Jazz at Massey", it was a really big deal featuring the biggest names in jazz all at the height of their game, it's just brimming over with improvisational stylings! To round off my top 3 though, last would HAVE to be Coltrane, "Blue train" is a really good album.
For real though, if you get the "Miles davis and John Coltrane The Complete Colunmbia Recordings" + "Jazz at massey" you'll have enough REALLY GOOD jazz to last you awhile (I think miles and coltrane columbia recordings is like 5 or 6 cd's in all)
-
Yeah, I listen to a lot of vinyl rips (I'll bore you to tears with phrases like "bit depth" and "dynamic range", don't get me started!), and I'm pretty sure I've seen those guys posted a lot, that material's probably there, I'll have to give them a listen. Cheers!
-
Fellow trippers..look up Terry riley-A Rainbow In Curved Air,and also look up shulman,And please,Please... look up Michael Hammer Yahoel..tis guys are not your typical, well known "tripper musicians"..But holy crap!!!Trust me when i say this...you will go into places in your mind, that you never knew existed! :-)

I like your style. I watched the video for DMT by Shpongle for hours one night when I was tripping. Mind boggling
-
I just started listening to The Digital Connection and they have blown my mind a few times- also I was having a horrible trip the other day and Sepalcure came on and turned me around- but honestly it all depends on the night one of the best tripping parties Ive been to was Zoogma they fucking wrecked it
-
Caribou was pretty freaky in a good way.
-
Personally, I really don't like music while tripping. It sounds too muffled or disorienting. I listen to a sound I like and go, "this sounds so much better while sober. The beat's all wrong...warped..."
Now, music on e and weed...that's a whole 'nother thing. Nothing better than dropping some MDMA or smoking a bowl and just immersing yourself in music you love. I hated Lady Gaga and most new pop until I tried e for the first time. Now I just can't get enough, though there is some shame and I admit that almost all of it is entirely crap. But it's catchy, bass-filled crap.

Hahahahaha, that's the best post ever. Lada gaga...LOL. So you just take 3 tabs and mediate haha?

I've never tried acid, but when I take RC's or mushies I tend to spend part of the trip playing with my several rave light machines (or whatever they're called- they make like a hundred laser pointer lights that move in patterns), part of the trip reflecting on a couple of topics that usually become important to me before or during the peak, and part of the trip just exploring and enjoying various changes in time, spacial awareness, colors, etc. that I perceive. Go out for a walk, see what a video game is like if I can somehow manage to start it up despite being horribly impaired...
I suppose the music issue is that I find sound so utterly incredible while on e and when I used to smoke pot a lot, so when I start tripping I automatically get the unrealistic expectation that it's going to sound just as good, which is probably impossible. When I eventually try acid, I'll be sure to give music another chance.

LOL, Lady Gaga.
I understand, though.
I was all "meh" in regards to Skrillex/Bassnectar/Kaskade until I listened to them rolling on MDMA.
NOW I UNDERSTAND.

I love listening to instrumentals like Ratatat when I'm tripping. Good mellow sound you can get lost in.

Add Astral Projection to that list :D Eat Static are brilliant, first saw them when I was 13 supporting the Ozric Tentacles. Used to like Infected Mushroom too but their new stuff is embarrassingly awful.
I posted elsewhere on this forum, but my current favourite tripping music is:
Com Truise
Casino versus Japan
Gold Panda
Tycho
Flying lotus
Shlomo
Nocow

True enough. I WILL try shpongle next time I trip then. I've never heard of them before, but that is not a bad thing.
Honestly, I had NO respect for jazz, until an old, OLD school head (that does not listen jazz on the regular) handed me Miles davis and john Coltrane complete Columbia recordings and said "here listen to this when you dose"....changed EVERYTHING! Now it's pretty much the only thing I listen to when I trip
I thought everyone knew the power of jazz and lsd...

Big Bad Voodoo Daddy is awesome, along with 'Tank!' by The Seatbelts. You should totally give them a listen next time you trip!
-
Digi, I dig the clasical picks, beethoven is my favorite classical of all time; but how do you feel about mozart tripping? Normally I dont care for mozart, but tripping it sends my imagination running wild...
Gary, ncie call on BBVD - I just looked them up, made me for nostalgic for the 90's..remember the zoot-suit comeback? - but idk about tripping I like that traditional jazz has NO vocals (once again sends imagination to places i didn't know existed). I'll still try it though, i mean why not! 8)
-
Oh yeah, also Hallucinogen are brilliant too. They did an album called Hallucinogen in Dub which is THE single best album for the peak of a trip. The vendor gammagoblin in named after one of their tracks.

right you are :) , that album is amazing, im sure you know this but that was made by OTT, hes got 3 more albums with a similar sound, hes one of a kind for sure.
he produced it by himself in cabin in the middle of nowhere over like 8 months.
