Title: Shipping to college dorm mailbox. Too risky?
Post by: Hardstyle on December 16, 2011, 07:19 am
I have read a few posts about this, but nothing similar to my dorm's mail setup.  (I'm in US) It's the only address I have access to, and I know P.O. boxes aren't a great option(requires signature to open one).

So here is my dorm's mail setup.  Tell me if you see any potential problems I could run into, and if you think it's any riskier or safer than a normal address.

Mail Setup:
- Mailboxes are kept in separate building from actual dorms
- Every dorm room has a corresponding mailbox in this building
- Mailboxes are locked from outside, and the school has employees that sort all the incoming mail into the correct box by it's mailbox number, not by name
- Have received mail to my box number with the wrong name before, that's how I know it's sorted by the box number
- If we don't take mail out of box in a week it gets returned to sender
- Don't need to sign for packages
- I room with one other guy and we share the box.  He doesn't know about SR (not planning on telling), but is chill guy who I actually will probably buy for.

Just ask if you want me to clarify anything about it.  So my biggest concern is that if customs finds it, they will see it is addressed to a student housing mailbox and inform the school.  Plausible outcome?  I really don't want to put my college education at risk.  Also feel free to talk about your own success/failure with any college/dorm style SR purchases.
Thanks!

I've had shrooms and methylone shipped to a similar set up and had no problems. Both times were shipped US to US so no worry of customs there.

If you only need the box number to get it shipped to you just don't put your name in the address, worst case scenario you just say somebody got the box number wrong

Ah, good point about the name.  If I put a fake name I would have an even easier time denying the package if worst came to worst.  I know they will sort by name if there is no box number written, but that shouldn't be  a big problem as i plan on including that.

Feeling a little more confident now.

I would just order from the same country and from sellers with good feedback and you should be fine.

See, what mrgrey brought up is exactly what I'm worried about.  Is that if it gets seized they would contact the university.  If I got the warning letter straight to my box without them seeing, I would be fine with that.  But really with a slightly altered name on package, they really can't pin me.

Okay I checked and there are P.O. boxes available in my area.  The only thing is that they require a signature to open it.  Plus I have always heard that P.O. Box + SR = Not a good idea.

I've sent LSD internationally to my college mailbox.

If you use a fake name, you will get caught. If you pretend like it's just a normal letter or package, nobody at your college will suspect anything. If it's any sort of good college, people are probably receiving international mail every day.

If you act like it's nothing special, nothing will happen. If you go out of your way to make sure nobody knows what is going on, someone will ask why. And when they ask why, they'll open that shit up.

Ya know what? You're right.  My college education and possible future isn't worth a few grams of molly....even though it was probably amazing quality at amazing price (sorry dopeboy, I really would have).

I'm going to stick to unscheduled research chemicals then.  Can't bust me for that usually, and 4-Aco-DMT looks interesting.  Dorm life will be over before i know it.  Thanks mrgrey.

My roommate and I have had a total of three packages sent to our college from the silk road.  There is one central location where everyone receives mail, and in order for a student to pick up anything that is not a letter, we must give our student identification card to someone at the post office for them to swipe into the system and get our package from the back, and then scan the package to tell the system it had been delivered.  I was nervous at first about delivering to a system that tracks everything in that manner, but it has turned out fine so far.

honestly, i wouldnt worry that much bro. if you are really noid about, then just use a fake name. but i would do some reading up on using fake names. basically, choose your fake name wisely. if you use a fake name then there is nothing connecting you the the package. so use a fake name if ur really paranoid and you should be golden.

I've received: LSD, MDMA, MDPV, DPT, and random smoke blends in the mail at my college. Still enrolled with an A average, baybeeee ;)

It really depends on the college. Some colleges actually search packages some don't do that at all. It really depends on the funding of the college and whether they actually spend the money to randomly search mail. However, they do have a right to search packages since once it is delivered to the school it is technically no longer in the USPS mail system. Also there is probably a clause in your agreement that by using the college mailbox you give the college the right to search.

However, I know at my University they don't do this.

You could always get a PMB or P.O. Box.

Great, now you guys have me leaning back towards probably going to do it.  I did more research and found the mail is sorted by minimum wage students, so that's a plus.  In addition I found section for "suspicious mail and packages", where it says recipients are encouraged to report packages with no return address, hand written addresses, or strong odors emitting from them (lol).  So maybe this means they are too lazy to pick these types out themselves and are relying on us to report them.

And foxy, stock up on more research chemicals when you get back from break!

My school does it like this . my dorm building has its own mail boxes corresponding to each room anything that doesnt fit in the mailbox must be picked up at the mail room( i had a calculator mailed ina a small flat rate box shipped and had to pick it up). On the slip they leave in your box it has boxes to check on the size of the package but the last one is see supervisor. this check box makes me uneasy. I have to present ID that matches the name on the package to receive it. Now i wouldnt have a problem with personal use stuff but if i order a large quantity of ketamine can dogs smell it? will it be risky? also it will be coming from overseas (india)

Honestly, it shouldn't be a problem.  I've had several packages shipped to my dorm so far (and I'm an RA ;) ).  Just be aware, if something doesn't follow normal delivery protocol for your school, don't accept it.

As I just wrote in a related post, don't send it to your college address.  If it's intercepted you may be tossed out of school or at least evicted from your college dorm.  Minimum wage slaves may be processing the mail at your dorm but the package went through the postal service.  If the postal service has discovered what's in the envelope addressed to you then they'll probably want to meet you.

Colleges don't work on the same system of proof before judgement that most other organizations use ~~ if they hear from the local PD that you were shipped drugs they may throw you out just to be careful.  Or, the campus PD may just hound you until they find something they can pin on you.

Seriously just open a PMB, they even accept school IDs as a second form of identification. Its only $15 a month.
