Title: Should I leave negative feedback?
Post by: mk0 on November 22, 2012, 04:29 am
Let me begin by saying I've ordered from just about every major mj vendor on the road and never left bad feedback, but I'm considering it with my latest order...

I recently placed an order with a newer vendor. He had enough good feedback, that I thought I'll give it a shot. After placing my order I logged off and forgot about it for a couple of days. Two days later I checked the status to find it still says processing. Finally on the third day the vendor marked the item shipped, but it couldn't have gone out that day. I expected to receive the item around now, but it did not show. I contacted the vendor and he says it should be here early next week (more than 10 days since placing the order). I quickly replied to ask when he shipped it, and if he shipped it using the expedited shipping service he advertised; the message was read, but not replied to.

I've never waited this long for an order, and needless to say I'm pretty pissed at this point. I hate to smear a vendor, but this person doesn't seem to be handling their business well. How would you guys handle it?

Hmm - it sounds like you have legit reason to be pissed.
The way I normally try and deal with things is through messages first. Before leaving negative feedback, I would wait until something arrives first!! Otherwise you're never going to get it.

See if he can offer you something to compensate for being such a pain in the ass. If he reacts badly - then neg feedback when (and if) you receive it - after all that's what the feedback sys id for! You don't want them to to the same thing to a fellow traveler on the Road.

Good luck - post updates!

Thanks for the speedy reply. That seems like sound advice.

I messaged the vendor today prior to my original post, and to his/her credit, they did respond to my first message asking to check the DCN. However, when my questions got more specific the replies stopped.

I guess I'll give it a few days more days and see what happens. I truly hope the vendor offers to make it right. I would feel like a total jerk using the feedback as leverage to make him do the right thing, but I guess its like you said, "that's what the feedback system is for."

My pleasure friend.

Good luck - it's a horrible experience when stuff like this happens (that being said I've only ever been ripped once on SR, so the odds are stacked in your favour)  ;)

Yes, I agree. This is a fantastic community and 99% of the vendors I have dealt with have been awesome. I appreciate the site and DPR's philosophy. Great mj aside, this place is special.

I think its way past time that people stopped giving 5/5 even when there have been issues. 5/5 is a perfect score. If there is an issue then the score should reflect this. The comments box is there to explain why you think the service is not perfect.

If everyone was fair with their feedback then buyers can make an ACCURATE assessment of what to expect and can make their buying decisions based on that. Im fed up with seeing people put 5/5 and in the comments have something like "Vendor slow to respond to messages, but arrived after 3 weeks so all is good" NO NO NO all is NOT good.
When seeing a 100 rating buyers tend to skip reading alot of the feedback comments, if the vendor is a few points down then people will read more and find out what the issues have been.

And before all the vendors get all up in arms about this, realise that if everyone operated like this then just because you are a few points off 100, your sales will not be affected as everyone will be in the same boat. Your feedback wil have been justly earned, if your business is run well then you will have a higher than average score. iIf you consistently have issues then it will be plain for a buyer to see that he needs to research what those issues were and decide from there.

Yes, you make good points. The really good vendors would probably prefer more honest feedback. What would you leave in this situation? I was thinking maybe a 3 IF the stuff is good.

Thanks guys. I wanted to make sure I wasn't over reacting and everyone's feedback has been helpful. I have a "usual" vendor I have been using and I normally receive product 3 days after ordering. Unfortunately, they were out of stock this time. In the future, I will limit my purchases to established vendors only.
