Title: How come synthetic cannabinoids affect people ifferently?
Post by: outoftime20 on September 06, 2012, 04:53 pm
I find it very curious that synthetic cannabinoids don't work on some people at all. For others it just works a little. For others it gives panic attacks. For me it depends on the chem used, but I can get a high that is unique and is almost as good as real weed. It's like compressing a weed high into 45 minutes, really intense.

Because they were created in a lab, and not by evolutionary design.

Seriously though, all drugs, natural or synthetic effect people differently.  I know people that can stay up a week on coke with no problems, but end up in a hysteric panic attack if they take a toke of green.  It's rare, sure, but it happens.  Marijuana has had since the beginning of time here on earth to naturally evolve in the plant kingdom, just as we have among mammals.  Synthetics are our attempt of copying it.  So, of course it will fall short.

All drugs (recreational and medical) will have varying effects on groups of people. Check out pharmacogenetics/pharmacogenomics. As creatures of variation subject to selective pressures (at all levels of biological function!), it's not very surprising, but it has been easily missed.
