Title: eBay quarantine notice
Post by: alexonion on September 01, 2013, 12:17 am
Ok so I really can't be bothered spamming to get to 50 posts :/ Tried to buy something rather innocuous on eBay recently and received this message on the "Review & Confirm Purchase" page. Has anyone ever seen it come up before/it is a new warning? The item was basically a piece of plastic, not animal/plant material or cigarettes/alcohol/perfume etc. The last two lines linked to a daff.gov.au site but came up with an error (page does not exist). Any thoughts on whether they are screening for quarantine breaching items more regularly, and as a result possibly picking up other (SR related) organic materials?

Attention: Australian quarantine regulations may apply

Before purchasing an item from an international seller, you should ensure that any applicable Australian quarantine regulations are met. The Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service (AQIS) provides guidelines on what can be imported into Australia. AQIS screens international mail and cargo and will seize any items that present a quarantine risk.
