Title: Shipping Australia name info
Post by: Altered Dimensions on July 14, 2013, 02:36 am
Hey all

So a quick question for anyone out there that has had stuff posted to Australia from overseas (import)
with a non real name on the package?

Can we get mail from overseas with a fake name on it?
Or does it get picked up because that person it not registered at that address?

I personally think you can but want to hear if anyone has done this and had success or not?

Using a fake name is generally a bad idea. Whoever is delivering your mail will recognize a different name to an address they usually deliver to and it seems more suspicious. Plus most vendors on the road do not want you to use a fake name or address.

But if you insist on using one try sending a letter of your own with the same info you plan on providing or find someone out of the country willing to.

I know in the US they usually recognize it but i haven't heard any reports of the same deal in Australia.

i LIVE IN AUSTRALIA and i use a fake name some times when ordering from overseas people told me not to because they wont let it through because they dont have a record of that name at that address so i decided to test it i addressed a letter to the fake name (and i mean fake no one in the world could have this name) and on one of my trips to the other side of the city i dropped it in a postbox sure enough it arrived cause how could auspost know if you had just moved there not on a lease, private renting etc.  i say test it like i did then let the good times role

Thanks mate, so they don't do a check like the US mail service does on who lives at the property?

I think it's quite retarded to do such a check.

So you mean to say you sent the mail with your fake name from another part of Australia?
In reality we need to get some mail sent from a few different places ie. USA, Germany and the UK to really test this fake name method out, also letters might not undergo such an occupants of property check and maybe only parcels?

I think we need to do some experimentation to see what the deal is.

Me myself had problems with a fake name .  I have lived in the same place for years and they know me in the post office and the postie knows who i am also.  So 50 odd orders on using my real name has not been a problem.  I make small orders so if something gos wrong i wont be in to much shit i hope.

I love silk road  :)

Hmm i just don't like the idea of having my real name on that sort of shit, it's basically proof it's yours. I don't even know how you would go about trying to explain you have no idea why someone sent you illicit substances in the mail

They can NOT prove it is you that ordered it even if you sign for it.  You dont know whats in there until you open it.  It could of been some asshole playing a trick on you or something.  Act dumb and DONT ever admit anything.

Just deny its you its easy your neighbor might use your name to avoid his name being used etc   and if you dont live in a small town i wouldnt worry about a posty knowing your name

Anyone from Australia know if they recognize different names to an address?
I know in the US they usually recognize it but i haven't heard any reports of the same deal in Australia.

They dont register peoples name to an address in Australia, there is no government agency who monitor this. I did read an article about ASIO intercepting mail from overseas to POI (Person of interest) who have been 'red flag' for Suspension of Terrorism in the same article it linked  to SR also about overseas mail and how a 'big time drug dealer in Victoria was caught by NSW and VIC Customs. It mentioned that both agency's are aware of the influx of product coming into the country from Germany and the Netherlands in particluar. The Drug dealer was a give up and told authorities everything including amounts and information, the article was quite detailed.

They can NOT prove it is you that ordered it even if you sign for it.  You dont know whats in there until you open it.  It could of been some asshole playing a trick on you or something.  Act dumb and DONT ever admit anything.

I do agree with you never talk that is the biggest dog act you can do BUT I HIGHLY RECOMMEND NOT TO USE ANY REAL INFORMATION AT ALL my reasoning are;

When your dealing with the law acting dumb is not going to hold up as a credible argument in any court you need to be smart about this and try to avoid any suspension at all. You have to remember 'Be invisible', Any information that is against your name stays with you for life and if you have had a suspension of a Letter containing drugs sent to your address that was not yours. You might get off that time but next time you wont Thats what starts the beginning of a case authorities will use to build against you. BE SMARTER THEN THEM
