I've recently decided to see what the fuss was about, download TOR, and make a silkroad account. Well, to be honest, it looks too good to be true. Sure, I can believe that drugs are sold, but wouldn't it be likely to be noticed through the mail service while getting shipped? I don't know, maybe I'm overly paranoid, maybe not. I'm just curious about how secure and safe it is to purchase from here.

Welcome Ethereal (I like the name)
And the usps cant go chacking all the mail there is waaayyy to much of it daily plus its not like a postal worker can just go and open mail to check it under suspicion its a lengthy protocol as Im told for them to actually open mail

Check out the Shipping Forum for better insight on the safety of the mail side of things.

Hola, and welcome.
I live in a European country. The mail service here (at the last figures I have) handles 5.3 billion pieces of mail per year. Yup, 83 million pieces of mail PER DAY. Chances of things being checked randomly? Do the maths.
If vendors do their job with stealth, it's not going to happen, and careful scrutiny of news stories from around the world about SR 'busts' always reveal that it was real life carelessness that fucked it up. I'm not saying it can't happen, but don't be paranoid! Your online activity is much more likely to be a problem, but I'm sure you use the SR rules and PGP etc.
So be careful, but SR fucking works!
Take care and have fun!
