Title: FE (eww) - an awesome solution to make it least less "ugly"
Post by: Potenpog the 2nd on August 12, 2012, 08:48 pm
damn , It seems that I am warming up now

another small useful thing would be:

FE , I hate it but I can understand it when amounts are involved where the customer as well as the vendor is getting dizzy when they hit "confirm" order etc

Generally every item should be able to FE a percentage (to type in or drop down field 10/20/30% etc ) this amount goes then directly to the vendor and isnt refundable , the left amount is like usually

Example:

-I buy an ounce "awesomness" for $2000  as usual and the $2000 going to SR
-if the Vendor setup a FE percentage (which must be shown in the first place ofc) then this percentage goes directly to him, is paid
so if thats 40% then $800 are going to him out of 2000, 1200 left and staying until I click finalize or SR resolution,..like usual
-if the Vendor didnt setup a percentage then its everyone choice if he does and if, then how much he does,...= easy

This way should help to get more realistic statistics and should be generally better for customers and vendors for obvious reasons

I'm on board.

E.G. for a money transaction, 50/50 would make sense if both parties are into it.

A problem I see is that I think the total amount of FE occurring would increase - All the current 100% FE transactions would still exist, but for normal transactions it might become common practice to charge 10-30% up front. Maybe you get allowed a maximum total FE% over the last month? And you can earn more via positive feedback (then to become a money vendor you would have to be pretty well established to earn your 50%, don't know if that's a good or bad side effect). OK, in retrospect that last sentence sounds dumb but I'll post it anyway, maybe others will like it.

Anyway, good thought, 2nd.
Peace

Yup, had that side effect also in mind,...pretty much possible that this happens, otherwise I think that FE is very "common"I see it so often (also am kinda forced to do from time to time,..and I got decent stats - 13k , 7months, 1 refund by SR "thx" Skyy) ,..so that thing is more something to limit the damage  by real scammers,...also its just a basic idea, may needs some "details" around ^^

1 possibility could be, that the buyer can give 2 ratings/feedbacks instead of 1 , so a vendor doing "selective" scams all to easy, would risk double amount of bad feedback,..but after all , all is so easy abusable by all these assholes going around , both vendors and buyers,..its exhausting to "guess" if its really "Lost in Translation" again or you just got fucked up by someone whoms wording is nice but you cant look in his eyes

actually I prefer the "real" scammers, ripping of a limited amount of people until they complete disappear, there you at least know that you got ripped off and go ahead,...this selective stuff drives me crazy as you never know if you are "dumb" with staying nice or you are an "asshole" with not believing the excuses,..... /cry  - big time aussie shopper ,...

PS: the 2nd cuz number one had an all too ambitious password ,...lol

I am against any form of FE.  I have been around for just a few months and have facilitated several successful transactions without needing to FE. Vendors requiring such just didn't get my bitcoin. Other new users should be able to do the same. It is the buyers that are enabling vendors to make such requests. If buyers would simply refuse to do business with vendors who require FE, the vendor would soon change his tune.

Great add on to OP's idea  :)

I'm with you paxpax. I'm also against any form of Finalizing Early and can't comprehend the amount of people who continue to do so daily. Without the SR Escrow system, business would fall dramatically for vendors as a lot of buyers (myself included), wouldn't have the confidence to just send their coin to a vendor with absolutely no re-course if something was to go wrong. So long as buyers do the right thing by vendors and finalize their orders immediately upon arrival, things should be just fine. It's a matter of showing some common courtesy and having some consideration for others which is seriously not hard to do! Unfortunately, there will always be a few dickheads who fuck it up for the rest of us but this will always happen in life no matter where you are or what you do.  :)
