Where do you live? There are some places I know now, where they have digital CCTV cameras, and store the footage in the cloud (normally Amazon cloud or something dirt cheap) and they never delete the footage, and never will. There's simply no need when they can get terrabytes of digital space for loose change.

You mean they don't use magnetic tape with a 24 hour loop anymore? ;)

Those tapes that can get lost for the right price? Nope :'(

Most US Banks use DVR's now, and have months to years of footage saved. If they have an alarm go off, it usually starts streaming it off-site as well.
