Title: Newbie...question re: ordering and encryption
Post by: newbie42000 on April 16, 2012, 03:17 pm
Ok

I've got my GPG encrytion setup...public keys ready to go.  My question is do we encrypt the messages sent via the SR messaging system or is encryption only needed for direct communication via email.

Thanks
Excited to start
:)

I think most vendors would prefer that you encrypt only sensitive information, such as an address.  Otherwise, they spend a great deal of time decrypting messages that can be sent in the clear.

Encrypt anything that might be incriminating, whether it's sent via SR messaging or email.  So if you're just writing to say thanks then it's probably O.K. to send it in plaintext, but if you're trying to negotiate a deal then encrypt it.
