Title: Are K9 dogs trained to hit on Zanax ?

Just wandering if the K9 is trained to hit on zanax? Thanks

I don't see how they could be... Think about how much a bar weighs, probably 300-500 mg (?), and only 2 mg of that is actual chemical, the rest being fillers and binders used in many other pills, "recreational" or not.

Or why they would be... I don't have anything to back this up, but there are probably a lot more people taking xanax who are prescribed it than use it recreationally. It's not in LE's interests to search 100 packages/cars/houses to catch 2 people who get off on it without a prescription.

Bottom line though, if the police want to look through something they will cue the dog to alert, and once that happens it's pretty irrelevant whether the dog was trained to alert on what they found or not.
