COPYED AND PASTED HERE FOR YOU GUYS:
UPDATE (05/05/2013 0100 UTC): We're still doing battle with this attacker. It seems he has prepared for this for a long time and has many tactics. We continue to use every resource at our disposal to overcome this situation. Thank you for your patience.

Thanks

Thank you CryptoKron for posting this here.
I feel bad for DPR, he is working so hard to keep this dream going for all of us and some fuck just wants to take it away. I just wish people would keep their nose in their own business and leave others alone.

For real, we are not hurting anyone or anything. I'd rather be here 100% then have people trying to find a street dealer, that is so dangerous these days.

Not just safety (which is definitely a paramount aspect) but also just the economics of it. Online marketplaces like Ebay, Amazon, and even the big box retailers using websites to fill orders and ship to either homes or for local pickup is the way the world is going. Just a few months ago, they shut down half of the Best Buy locations in the US because so many people are ordering online that they could keep making good revenue while eliminating the expense of having to staff so many stores (which gets into another side of the argument)

UPDATE (05/05/2013 0100 UTC):
5/5/2013? Is DPR now posting from the *future*?
-
True to that, there is way more dangers in taking the fake XTC than the real MDMA.
-
FUCK YEAH, FUTURE POSTS. SR FTW!!!
-
Nice, keep up the fight!

"Give this man a Harrumph!"

Hmm the thought that they may have been preparing for this for a long time makes a lot of sense. It kind of surprised me that DPR with such a large pool of resources would have trouble getting the site up for more than a few days at a time.
-
No matter how good you are with computers there is always someone better, but I think this is just a good way to learn more and make SR stronger than ever.
-
just dump a million dollars into bandwidth next time scriptkiddies attack

I agree, the more attacks SR survives the more difficult it gets to take down.

I was thinking that, is he posting in the future or are we reading in the past.

I ordered some wax and this ddos fucker is stopping my medicine. I'm glad we have heroes like DPR to keep up the good fight. This is such a needed service, I hate dealing with the seedy drug underworld, this online dispensary is fantastic.
Long Live DPR
Long Live SR

Thank you.
Anxiously hoping my vendor received my order before this latest attack.
I'm really wondering why DPR and SR are pretty certain this attack is an individual and not a new tactic by some form of government agency or some such thing...? I'm sure it's been talked about here in one of the forums somewhere but I been reading and flippin about for about an hour now and I'm getting sleepy so I thought I'd just ask :-)
I wish all the best to DPR, his Crew and everyone else in all their various circumstances. Peace to all.

All this downtime is giving me a real hankering for some rolls :'(

Man, what an enormous waste of time. Enough of this already!

I don't know much about DoS but how much would we collectively be hurting by trying to log on continously? Is it a minor amount compared to the requests of DoS?
-
Yes, you are hurting the site more by constantly logging on/trying to logon. Each connection is another "tie" of the resources on the server(s). How much of a hurt are all the continuous "tries" taking up, that is tough to say (for us and probably SR admins as well) as its difficult to tell a "real" logon from the ddos open connection. Each open connection, whether real or attack ties up the server resources.
The best action here is to wait, let them work this out, not pay the extortion fee, get the site back up running better and more resilient.
We all want our orders. My partners and I want to take orders and ship product. But constant pounding the site with multiple logon attempts isn't helping. Its hurting.

oh well
