I don't know if anyone here has ever offered anything like this ... but there might be a niche for it.
My thinking is if you have to get your car inspected but have X amount that you need to spend in repairs before it will pass, then it might be nice to be able to get a forged sticker until you have the funds you need for the repairs.
I know that it varies from state to state, but where I live they are particularly strict and picky about what will pass/fail an inspection. Now, I also know that it is a GOOD idea to have your car running the way that it should be for your safety and that of other motorists ... but it still might be nice.
Also, obtaining stickers for each state might be tough, but I am sure someone where could get it done.

Are you talking about the emissions test thing? I always give the guy $100 bucks to pass my car.

doublemint has the right approach, 1100101 need to rethink the approach.

Nope, I wasn't talking about the emissions thing ... I was talking about the 50 (or whatever the number is) point inspection that some states require. The one where the tires have to be suitable, no lights can be out, can't be even a tiny crack in the window, etc, etc.

This sounds like the sort of thing best accomplished by befriending those shop owners that do inspections....

Seriously? I tried to bribe a guy who has done other shady stuff for me and he said he literally can't do it because it's tied to the Dept of Transportation/the software the machine uses can't be overridden.
I'm in MA. Can anyone tell me if they're certain it can be done? Maybe the guy is dumb; I told him to name his price.

I am not sure exactly what would stop them from hooking up another cars tail pipe for emmissions (as an example) or whatever else to get your car passed.
BUT I do know that in some states it is true that the system is tied directly to the Dept. of Trans.
So they pretty much put your car on the machine and the pass/fail results get transmitted to the DoT.
I would suspect that if they really can not be bribed because of the machine, then the machine must be pulling the VIN out of the ODBII port and transmitting that also.
Not really an easy way to fake that....not one that is worth it anyway.

I have my hands on some new york inspection stickers if anyone is interested.
