Title: How much is too much?
Post by: silvercoin on February 07, 2012, 02:04 am
I have a question about amounts sent through the mail. I read in the postal inspector thread that some packages where the contraband is confiscated and packaged with the tape (green tape) and sent on their way. I also read this a few other places, that the tape is for smaller amounts, seeds, paraphernalia etc.

So what constitutes as too much, enough for an investigation and what is it based off of? Location? How busy they are? What kind of mood they're in (postal inspectors/ LEO)? Or is it more of a set in stone thing like, anything that looks like over an ounce will be put in 'a different pile' than those of smaller amounts.

I am just trying to figure out the threshold and the variables that determine it. I am speaking in marijuana terms, I am sure the answer is different for all drugs but any input is welcome. Thanks.

I'm curious about it too. The mood vs set in stone thing.

We need some more postal inspectors up in the place  :o

A handy guideline is to check your laws.  Your local pigs usually have amounts for certain drugs that are considered personal use, and others that are considered for distribution.  I believe in the US anything under 3/4 oz is considered personal use in most case.  If you are over the limit, that increases the chances of being scrutinized, as well as a possible controlled delivery.

Granted it's not bulletproof.  Controlled deliveries have happened for personal use amounts.  Chaos theory definitely applies to our business.  Just be cautious, and if you find yourself getting paranoid, just remind yourself that the police are limited and can't be everywhere at once.
