Title: The messages in the forum isn't instant
Post by: wannabud on August 18, 2011, 03:59 am
Well, just check if it happens only with me or with everybody.

When I post something (a new thread or a new message), it not appears instantly in the forum, but I have to wait some hours to read my own message. But if I edit a posted message, the edition is shown instantly.

Is it normal in this forum?

Hopefully you have already figured this out by reading some other posts.  You need to press CTRL+F5 to refresh the page.  Your posts will show up right after you do that.

i have the same problem.  i can see my own posts if i click on profile and then on my posts, but if i just click on the thread from the main forum pages i don't see them for at least a few hours.  i have tried the F5 thing and it doesn't seem to make a difference for me.

for example, i should have reply #17 in this thread, but it's not there: http://dkn255hz262ypmii.onion/index.php?topic=2408.0

For me the Ctrl+F5 think works fine.

Indeed.

CTRL+F5 works, but F5 alone doesn't...

I thought F5 = Refresh.............................

Tor requests go through a proxy named Polipo.  When you push Ctrl when pressing F5, it makes a request even if the page is cached.

If this doesn't work, maybe Tor clients are doing some caching as well?

EDIT: Turns out Polipo has caching turned off with Tor.

This CTRL+F5 is starting to become a "pain in the assholes" like Borat would say.

Firefox isn't caching because I just checked under options and cache is set to 0 (zero) bytes.

Add this inconvenience to the fact that Tor is slow, and frustration is not far away.

Anyway, LONG LIVE SILK ROAD!
