The central doctrine of Jesus of Nazareth: “Take no thought for the morrow. No investment. No thrift. No care for your children. That you should abandon your family. Not worry about construction, about investment, about anything. Just follow me.” Ridiculous and immoral proposition that, as CS Lewis so cleverly and, I must say, honestly put it, means that the man must have either been a maniac, a sick man, an evil man, or he must have believed that the world was coming immediately to an end, and that he was commanded to announce this fact to the deluded, Bronze Age inhabitants of Palestine."

Your name has more meaning than today's idea of "Christianity" What the fuck is the OP thinking?
The idea of Jesus being a "mushroom" sounds 100 times more realistic than Jesus being the son of god & that he resurrected in blah blah blah..
The apostles were all tripping on shrooms and writing fairy tales. I could have wrote a 10 times better version of the bible 2000 years ago, you'd all have worshiped me.

Can you explain 'the God of your understanding'?

The central doctrine of Jesus of Nazareth: “Take no thought for the morrow. No investment. No thrift. No care for your children. That you should abandon your family. Not worry about construction, about investment, about anything. Just follow me.” Ridiculous and immoral proposition that, as CS Lewis so cleverly and, I must say, honestly put it, means that the man must have either been a maniac, a sick man, an evil man, or he must have believed that the world was coming immediately to an end, and that he was commanded to announce this fact to the deluded, Bronze Age inhabitants of Palestine."

@ JezuzWazaMushroom:  You're missing the beginning quote marks for the last bit.  I guess I'm confused.  Is part of your post your opinion or rather, is the entire thing a quote?  It's a rather long run-on sentance.. :/ Also, by quoting information on Jesus like you have, you've undermined the idea behind your user name.

The trilemma that C.S. Lewis presents is rather simple.  Either Jesus was Mad, a Liar, or Christ like he claimed.

Mad Men:People generally don't follow mad men.  Definitely not with the zeal that was apparent with his followers.  If they do gather a significant following(which has happened in the past ie: Hitler etc.), they don't retain their following post death. After Jesus' death the apostles were anointed with the Holy Spirit and went forth spreading the gospel(literally meaning good news) radically and prolifically. Also, you don't see rapid growth in a movement after the leader's death, especially with a crazy person.

Liar:  You can't argue that Jesus was a good man, or a profit, or a moral leader if he was a liar.  There are many words to describe a liar and those phrases are not among them. Also, a liar generally won't die for their cause. A few have, but not to the extent Jesus did.  He was beaten, spit on, bruised, and mocked.  Following that He was given 39 lashes with a whip called the cat of 9 tails.  The whip had 9 ends to it each with many pieces of broken pottery, rock, and other sharp objects woven into it.  It was brought forward at high speeds into a person's back so the sharp objects embedded themselves solidly in flesh, then pulled back so the pieces ripped deep furrows into the back.  The reason they gave him 39 lashes is because nobody had ever survived 40 lashes.

Following this they placed a robe on his back, waited till his wounds started healing to the fabric, then ripped it off opening them again. They did this repeatedly.  Following this they fashioned a crown out of a rose bush. I don't know if you've ever seen a fully mature rose bush, but the thorns exceeded 4 inches in length.  The placed this on his head and pressed down so the thorns penetrated his head and neck.  Then he walked a significant distance carrying an object heavier than himself before collapsing.

All that is just the warm up. He was nailed to a cross with spikes, not your even in the same league as your 10 penny nails. Not through his hands, but through his wrists between the two bones as the would support weight were that hands would not.  And again through his feet.  The death from crucifixion came from lack of oxygen.  Not because you couldn't inhale, but because with your weight supported by your wrists you couldn't exhale.  In order to exhale you would have to push up with your feet, tearing them before you could inhale again. The way the Roman soldiers determined if a person was dead was whether they were still pushing up to exhale.  If a person took too long to die, they would break the knees so they couldn't breath anymore.

There is NO way a liar would go through all that to save face.

Christ: This one is pretty self explanatory.

If you can think of any other possibilities for what he could be outside of those 3, feel free to mention them. :D

@ saitekman12345: How could you have this opinion if the person with the screen name doesn't..?

Never the less: Did mushrooms of psychedelic nature grow in the middle east 2000 years ago? If the apostles were writing 'fairy tales' under the influence of mushrooms, how could it be that they did not have a single contradiction?

Modern day organized religion is a carefully crafted reinstatement of the Pharisees to power over the whole earth.  They only worship the thought that they have the ability to destroy God and in his place become a God.

Finance, and history teach us much of this craft.

Except the concept of a 'trilemma' completely ignores the fact that there is no proof that the "Jesus Christ" character ever existed......now  hush, The adults are talking.

EDIT: I have to compliment your user name. It describes perfectly what you have to offer, which is nothing.

If you need evidence that god is completely compassionless, just look at the story of job. God from the bible is just a mega-asshole. Seriously if not paying homage to some random deity in the sky means that your life is gonna be shit, then that guy really shouldn't have power over anything. It's honestly like reading about a spoiled child

Whom of you would imagine to understand everything without even hearing what it is?  I am not here seeking my own selfish desires, or asking for anything except an honest place for discussion.  I wish it could be different but everywhere I go the sites get closed or turn into like trolls like spam or worse.  ????

This isn't even what  I usually talk about.

But I am entrusting those who are eager to learn what the truth of something is, as the Lord of truth is promised us.

I can understand everyones unbelief, as we live in the new "Computer Age" however that does not mean everything in the past is false.

I can also understand why no one would want to worship with the hypocrites and "teachers of the law" as they have created a mimic'd religion which is designed solely to lead those away to hell who follow them, and push away all others who see it into atheism.

Even if time goes on for thousands of years more what benefit is it to you?  Will you believe in the utopia of human technology prevailing?  Today technology is a tightly controlled substance, rarely allowed to be used for its benefits.  Psychologically it is only deployed to manipulate the masses, and spy on them.

What future do you imagine you will have in the future with leaders who worship Satan and self?  Do you wish to become like them?  To have what they have?  I tell you the truth they have nothing unless God gives it to them, these days a rich man isn't even rich anymore.  He is not honorable working for what he has gained or used it wisely from generational wealth.  No, this wealth is acquired through fraud, destruction of the eco-system, inflation, and war.  And can't forget their abilities in co-opting the worlds' political systems with lobbies corporate to pay in secret their little Judas Iscariots through insider information rather than having the inconvient paper trail of bribes.  Who is smarter, the one who avoids the destruction ordained for these people or the one who continues on and abides not in the truth and persihes?

To me, the bible has two meanings. On its face, the bible is a storybook outlining the commonalities of the human experience as shared at the time of its writing. However, for some odd reason we may never know, there is so much deeper meaning and inspiration in that book that to deny that it's special is to lie to yourself. I'm not saying an omnipotent, hirsute old white guy in a robe is behind it, but that's besides the point.

God did not literally speak to humans from the heavens and instruct them to write a book. He is not some conscious being that sits in the sky and casts masturbating teenagers into eternal hellfire. However, most people in those days (and even now) seemed to be comfortable believing that's what goes on, and so we created a God in our image to describe the stuff we all seemed to have in common for some inexplicable reason.

Truth is, God is in you. There is no actual separation between you, "God", and everything else that exists. Since it's kind of difficult and confusing to pray to everything/nothing/you, people created a sort of human avatar (Jesus) for their divine self. Perhaps he was actually alive at some point and was such an awesome person that people saw "God" in him, and he gained a following. Some call this chance, others call it a miracle. Sometimes both are one and the same. In fact, that's the essence of what it means to be alive and conscious: we can make up our own scales of objectivity and decide what the miracles are. We may never see a superpowered man in the sky casting down lightning, but there are plenty of questions we'll never be able to answer as long as we're alive. I think that at some point, things just get so weird that there's just no way to empirically measure or define what you're experiencing.
