Title: Send Recorded without Getting Caught on Camera when Posting?
Post by: CuriousGeorgey on January 08, 2012, 04:41 am
Would like to know how a seller would be able to post stuff recorded without it being traced back to him because surely if a letter was intercepted later on then they could find out when and where it was first logged (the post office where the seller posted) so police could view CCTV footage to see who the seller is.

This all seems very possible to me, is there anyway to avoid this outcome apart from not sending stuff recorded?

LE likely wouldn't go that far unless they were repeatedly intercepting bulk quantities of drugs.

You're likely not in the US but i know here i think there are ways to purchase DCN online for certain types of packages. Somebody from where you live will have to help you out though.

I was thinking more along the lines of LE making a order off you and asking for it to be recorded so they track it back to you once they receive the tracking code. I know they will have bigger fish to fry but one can never be too cautious.

I know that in UK we can buy pre-paid envelopes but not don't see how they can be recorded because it requires someone to log it into a machine of some sort.

Thank you for the reply!

PS. What does LE stand for?

alright mate,

to combat this formula you can do the traditional hoodie + baseball cap,

or what I prefer to do is go to "ghetto" or run-down areas with tiny post offices which tend do have little or no security cameras whatsoever to get past this problem..

Think going into the post office in hoodie + cap isn't the best idea as it kind of ruins the business-like persona I think sellers have to put on but thanks for the idea none the less.

I like your other idea much better, thanks!

The hoodie & cap might ruin the business-like persona but it sure helps with the UNABOMBER persona.

You'd be surprised, as long as you come off as a "indie-kid" rather then "gangsta gangsta" it's pretty good mix it up a bit with a checked shirt, I use a mixture of both as sometimes I can't afford the long-ass journey to run down places.

you probably know this already but don't forget! always pay by cash

You just get pre-paid envelopes, or envelopes with stamps - they sell stamps in larger denominations like $5, $10, etc.  You can also just pick up a bunch of DCN labels at a post office for free, as long as you put extra postage on the envelope to cover the cost you can just drop it in a random mailbox, without entering the post office.

Yeah this guy is in the UK though we don't have any form of pre-paid + tracking postage option unfortunately :(

We can buy prepaid special delivery but I'm not sure if sllers can print the addresses on and I'm not sure if they track where the sender buys them from (so they could link purchase to CCTV).
