Title: Netherlands to Belgium - is there a customs?
Post by: Mara on March 20, 2012, 08:41 am
Hello,

I have avoided ordering from the Netherlands to the UK due to flagging of mail etc. I will be moving to the Flanders area of Belgium in a few months and I am thinking getting Dutch parcels might be less suspicious there. So I am wondering if anyone knows whether there is a customs for letters sent from the Netherlands to Flanders?

It may be open borders but, I believe that customs in some of the EU countries are not so open.  I know you can drive from Amsterdam all of the way to southern Italy without passing through a customs point but, I think they still play with the mail to some extent. I think it really depends on the specific country that you live in.  If your in Belgium why not just hop across the border and get what you need.  The Border stations are no longer manned.

yes, there are no more customs points within the eu but random controls (near borders) are always possible! - same with mails inside eu.. as for me, i never had problems with customs within eu-states!

i think within the eu they are only looking for larger amounts from ~2kg upwards (seen on tv), so you should be on the safe side if you dont order too much at once.

Netherlands = High Risk Country.

Probably biggest drugs exporter in EU.

Netherlands = High Risk Country.

Probably biggest drugs exporter in EU.

But also big trader in other area's. So, fact of the matter is that lots and lots of mail goes out from NL (and into other countries). So then it just becomes a numbers game. What's the probability that a 'batch' is checked?

Air shipments in that cases i can imagine are easier to check with dogs (and other equipment they got, molecule sniffers etc.) but inside (west)EU majority goes by train.

YES, the actively check the post if you send often to the same address. I had send a few boxes to Belgium, the first 2 where there in 2 days, the 3rd and 4th took over 2 weeks. When the did arrive there was a stamp or letter from the customs on it (can't remember exactly, few years ago).

Why don't you drive to Holland or Belgium and post it there? Thats what i'm doing now.

Based on the Schengen treaty (implemented by both NL and BE, unlike UK), countries can't check the border (people passing) unless there's a very good reason to do it (in case of a suspicion of some serious shit going down).

This only applies to people crossing the border, but afaik not to mail. So there are probably customs checks, although I think that inside the EU the checks are not as high. However, both the Netherlands and Belgium have a law regarding 'secrecy of correspondence' (part of the constitution in both countries), which requires a judge to allow the opening of a letter. This probably adds quite a lot of safety if the vendor packs his mail well. Keep in mind that packages aren't protected by this, so try ordering stuff that fits in a letter.

You're completely right regarding the amount of trading between the Netherlands and Belgium, this is pretty high (not as high as NL and DE, but BE is much smaller of course ;) ). Because the same language spoken in NL and Flanders, you'll  find that there are quite a few Dutch people living or conducting business in BE. Also know that there's the Benelux, which created a close economical area (and these days they're working together in other areas as well). All this adds to very open borders, so probably less change of getting caught.

I've had 2 successful deliveries from NL to BE so far, a third one is on it's way :)
The first one from Aakoven took only 4 days! (including a weekend) =>10 pills, and some mdma
The second one from Noriega took a bit longer, 6 days (including a weekend) =>coke
The third one is also from Noriega, 6 days and counting (hope it gets here before the weekend ;) ) =>coke

So I think it's pretty safe to receive goods in Belgium, stuff from SR is still much better than the (decent) stuff they sell on the streets here (especially coke)
Damn, hard to wait for this delivery...

Grtz

Dutchgreenclub sends all their weed through Belgium first to be delivered abroad. Seems like nobody at customs there cares about NL shipments
