Title: Medical Cannabis Poll: Sativas? Indicas? Hybrids? Hash/oils? Edibles?
Post by: Novartis on October 15, 2012, 03:27 am
We're about to start shopping at a few medical marijuana clinics so I thought I'd make a poll to see what everyone prefers:

- Sativa
- Indica
- Sativa > Indica
- Indica > Sativa
- Hash & concentrates
- Edibles
- Topicals
- Other

*Also if you prefer Indoor or Outdoor grows, or if it isn't important to you

Or just copy and paste what you like - suggestions welcome if I'm missing anything.

If something like this has already been done, forgive me but I wasn't able to find it. I'd gladly delete this thread if ya want.

prefer indoor over outdoor personally :)

i think it would be wise to at least get one sativa, one indica, and a hybrid if possible so people have options

Indoor always considered better than outdoor. Generally.

I'd be interested in ounces of any medicinal strains - as long as it's below 350 USD inclusive of shipping.

I'm a fan of Indica dominant hybrids, pure Indicas can incapacitate me for the rest of the day but my anxiety can peak after smoking a strong sativa. The beauty of the road is that we can buy different strains to keep on hand for different times in the day though.

In answer to question 2 I think indoor bud generally has better potency and bag appeal, but I'm also aware that in some states especially this time of year, dispensaries can offer good deals on some outdoor bud due to its abundance.

Hybrids are the way to go.

But usually as CBD is the most medical part of cannabis, there are currently some new strains in research which have a very very high dosis of CBD and nearly no THC, those strains might be able to cure cancer, as CBD can stop cancer growth even in low doses.

In fact cannabis indica and sativa plants usually grow faster indoors, as conditions are usually near perfect if you know what you are doing, but the spectrum of the currently used indoor lights have just a limited spectrum of the whole spectrum which the sunlight delivers. This means that in fact the indoor plants dont have as much of the 180++ other cannabinoids and terpenes(things which influenece the effect of cannabinoids and other flavonoids) as outdoor plants have. the cannabis DNA has evolved over hundreds of millions, if not even billions of years. Recent studies showed that the reason why our brain can use THC and other cannabinoids, is that animals of ,which we have evolved from, started eating cannabis plants and developed receptors for cannabinoids.
This means that cannabis is one of the oldest plants on the planet and the DNA has been adjusted to the sunlight.

this is why the best weed in the world is definetly outdoor, but definetly very very limited nowadays.

oh wow thanks for all the replies everyone, this is great

Now with hybrids, does anyone have a preference for Which kind of strain it is:
1 - More Sativa than  Indica
or
2 - More Indica than Sativa
It sounds like the answer might be #2
.
.
So it seems a lot of people prefer indoor but outdoor has it benefits….

Hybrids seem to be the clear winner but carrying one of each sounds like a good plan

$350 should be possible for an ounce, I'll have to post a sample option to see if it's exactly what you're looking for…

Altogether id say:
1.Sativa strains over Indica strains
2.Hybrids- Indica more than Sativa...because pure Indicas knock me on my ass, so I like a little Sativa with my Indica haha ;D
3. Yes! i love me some concentrates and hashes and oils! especially oils/concentrates!
4.  Would love to have quality edibles...thats probably what im going to buy with my next order...i gotta have edibles ;)
5. Topicals..meh....i would like to have some, dont get me wrong...but as someone from east coast USA, SR still has the novelty of being an "online dispensary" almost... most of us dont have ANY access to quality marijuana medicines...so i wont be wasting BTC on anything that wont get me high anytime soon, but im sure there are people that will...
6. I, personally, enjoy indoor grows.  Soils over hydroponics..but that could be purely a matter of people around me not knowing how to grow hydroponically correctly...so that may be a bit biased..

anyways hope my preferences help you.  I think i voted for hash/concentrates in the polls, but if i could of voted for edibles too at the same time, i would have :) ... i just love both of those categories.  Makes me feel like a legit prop 215 patient haha.. ;D

Yep, we have a couple members with cards so we're just shopping around for a couple more days and then making the posts. Shipping materials are ready so it's just a matter of deciding on what to get and posting it. We might have to post some samples or maybe 1/4's so people can try before buying an ounce.

I'd hope 350 is possible. Wouldn't really do any more than that to be totally honest.

I'm consistently told over and over again from several people on here and in the real world that grade A, top shelf medicinal strains shouldn't be selling for over 250 USD/ 1oz. Especially so if you buy in big quantities.

I think you should aim to stock one sativa dominant strain and one indica dominant strain, at least. Hybrids are the one really.

Oh, and if you can - try getting some high cbd and high cbn strains. These tend to offer a more medicating effect I've found. Cheers, and good luck.

Thanks for the insight, I'm taking note.

As for the price, there are a lot of options at these places... including some 320 and 360 an ounce, so you think these hybrids from the clinics are overpriced potentially?

I had to vote for Sativas and with hybrids I like them to be sativa dominate. I hate to have to vote tho because marijuana is awesome in every form, strain, and process. As far as price goes I'm sure you will try to get the best marijuana you can get while sparring no expense. It would be nice to have a 50,000 square feet building to set up a growing operation and at the same time be able to offer the best strain of fresh buds at an affordable price for everyone. Somebody wake me up I'm dreaming again

Alright great, it sounds like having both sativa and indica dominant blend as well as just one of each will be a good idea
Thanks!
yeah it seems like they're making a ton off certain strains since they both require the same to grow.... unless they're paying some absurd price for seeds of OG kush, etc

What's a shatter listing?

Also, we've started to post a few things in very small quantities.... you'd be surprised how many of the popular strains are sold out.... BUT we have their delivery times so we will be ready to go when they come in. In the meantime, we're still setting up the site and working out the little kinks. Things are beginning to come in nicely though  :)

Not to hijack the thread, but what would folks recommend for chronic pain conditions?  But at the same time, not something that will keep me awake all night.  I've tried some edibles from top vendors on here - while they were very good, they really didn't address the pain all that well.

And does "medical marijuana" have a commonly understood definition?  It is helpful for many things medically, not just pain relief.  Or does that simply imply a higher level of potency?

Thanks in advance!

Post by: Drksdfmn138 on October 21, 2012, 06:18 am
This is copy pasta from the interwebs so if you disagree, sry

Indica use creates a “couch-lock”, I-don’t-want-to-move-a-muscle type high. Using indica is a great choice for those nights indoors watching TV, playing video games, or just chilling with close companions. The indica high numbs the body down and induces an overall sense of relaxation, which is ideal for a relaxing night’s sleep.

Sativa use produces more of a mental, cereberal high, which often results in a boost in energy and imagination. Sativa strains are perfect when working creatively in activities such as writing, painting, and brainstorming new ideas. Sativas are also a great choice for enhancing the experience at artistic events like movies and concerts.

Similiarities

One of the most well known similarities between the indica and sativa strains is their ability to relieve nausea. Medical marijuana is a popular choice in people who are afflicted with HIV/AIDS or are currently enduring chemotherapy. These 2 situations are notorious for causing severe episodes of nausea, which can be effectively eliminated with the introduction of THC into the system.

Increased appetite is another well-known benefit to people like this who are extremely ill but have a difficult time eating and staying nourished. When an individual is recovering or weakened for long periods of time, it is especially important that their body receives proper nutrition. Possessing a strong appetite could be the biggest difference between positive well-being and persistent sickness.

Whether it is an indica or sativa, these 2 medicinal benefits will surely be available. Though I have listed only 2, there are numerous positive effects of weed.

Differences

Noteworthy differences between indica and sativa are their abilities to relieve pain and insomnia. While both strains can achieve these effects to varying degrees, indicas tend to be more valuable in treating issues related to the body while sativas address problems of the mind.

Individuals suffering from chronic pain and afflictions such as Multiple Sclerosis or fibromyalgia will most likely find indicas are more potent for reducing pain levels. Indica serves as a great analgesic (pain reliever) for countless individuals.

Someone suffering from insomnia will probably also find that indica is an ideal solution. Under the effects of indica, users will definitely feel drowsy, tired, and have a strong urge to fall asleep. For someone who can’t bring themselves to rest, this effect could be nothing short of a blessing.

Sativas on the other hand are superb at addressing conditions like depression. Lots of people who suffer from depression would do anything to be able to find relief and will take prescription after prescription just to find some with unfavorable side effects. Yet, cannabis sativa can put people into the greatest of moods with virtually no negative effects (especially if vaporizing).

Some studies have also shown that sativas are capable of treating the symptoms of ADHD. At first glance it almost seems counterintuitive, but some ADHD sufferers say they can only focus when high on a sativa.

Print-screen button and a photo-editing program will do it just fine. Load the picture on your monitor, hit the key, paste it into your editor, crop out the non-picture bits, upload, then post the link. :)

Stock up on Co2 oil, the road will thank you.  Strain type doesn't really natter unless they're specifically looking for high CBD but that's a different product entirely.  For example, the Co2 extract I like is >75% THC and only <1% CBD so it's a very clear high...seriously though SR customers will love you long time if you stock a good, cheap extract.  I've seen some selling for ungodly prices so have at it if you're looking to expand.
