Title: Hi guys, newb here asking about PGP
Post by: Echo on November 23, 2011, 12:28 am
Yes hello everyone.
I am new to the deep web and recently came across a website that had a really long pgp public key listed underneath it.  My only questions are what are the public keys needed for, how do i use them and is it related to private mail and such?.
Would be extremely helpful for any info!.

I'd recommend reading the entry in the SR wiki [ dkn255hz262ypmii.onion/wiki/index.php/PGP/GPG_Encryption ].

You may find the GPG Step-by-Step: Windows Pictorial [ dkn255hz262ypmii.onion/index.php?topic=131.0 ] helpful for that.

Yes; for e-mail and private forum messages (PMs), among other thngs.

You may have more questions after reading those two resources.  If so, feel free to ask in the Secutiry forum, as well.

{very short summary}

public and private keys
you keep the private key and share the public
encrypting and decrypting obviously requires both keys for the sender and receiver.

never let anyone know your private key, not even the recipient who you've just been messaging.
