Is it acceptable to use the message vendors without GPG for information about their products? I understand from what I have read about personal/shipping info in GPG of course.

No problem messaging most vendors in clear text. If your message is compromised then it doesn't matter if they don't know who is talking to who.
The occasional vendor is a stickler on this and won't respond unless it is encrypted. Check their vendor page to find out. Most of us find it annoying to decrypt non-secret information though.
I recommend to always encrypt identifying information (you address). This is a personal decision though as it doesn't effect the vendor's security, so most of us don't require it.

That's exactly what I needed thank you fine Sir.

+1 I was unsure about this also, but thanks farmer for the info

Also: It is good to write only what is necessary. Keep it simple and the people will thank you

Thanks for the info. Guilty of overencrypting and was wondering if it was annoying for the vendor.

+1 farmer.
Always wondered if vendors took it as disrespectful or just plain dumb to send clear text. As far as i understand just don't send anything you wouldnt want LE reading. I try to be as vague and nondescript as possible when sending clear text

This is excellent advice and should be adhered to. As a vendor, basic questions do not need to be encrypted at all. It is preferable if addresses are, but many people neglect to do this. However, if the SR servers are seized it'd be much more comforting if all addresses and identifying information was encrypted.

Can anyone tell me if pgp is pissible from mobile or is this a silly question?

It is on android. An open source app on an open source market. Google for it.

Could have sworn I read somewhere that the android app for PGP isn't safe, there's supposedly some exploit in android software that can be used to breach your security. I might be wrong though.
