Title: Ukash to btc exchangers? what happened
Post by: dreamcore on January 25, 2012, 09:57 pm
Hey all

Have recently noticed everyone stopping ukash to bitcoin exchangers on silk road.
I am assuming something went wrong or else it got banned.
Would much apprecriate some help/info on where to trade a ukash voucher in to get bitcoins?
Or would be good if vendors could put there thoughts in here to eg. Dr amsterdam , googly etc.
Would like a reliable vendor to offer the service.
Problem is I already have the voucher.

Cheers DC

jah..it's a pity.

Still searching for an ukash exchanger. I don't know why, but apparently silkroad has prohibited ukash/paysafecard... as I heard. There are a lot of rumors going around.

I hate the normal way of getting bitcoin. Normally its needed to use bank wire and then you have only LR. Very stressful, would love to purchase with ukash or paysafe again...:-/

UKash have tightened up their security.

Vouchers are getting flagged as suspicious and suspended if you try to use them in unconventional ways.

AFAIK they banned buying SR items with those vouchers, but there is no ban regarding exchanges.
Check the PS in the thread: Adress to the Silkroad State.

EDIT:
CLARIFICATION:  This new policy also does not affect vendors who use the market as a platform for Bitcoin exchange.  They may continue to operate as usual, but again we strongly recommend that you purchase bitcoins through a non-anonymous vendor because the market is not set up to facilitate bitcoin exchange and your money can be stolen without recourse.

I have not used Ukash in a couple weeks but here's the way I used to do it:

- Go to www.btc-e.com and create an account
- Add Funds : USD
- Select payment  method: Interkassa.com
- Enter the amount you need in USD (expect a loss of ~10-12% for the exchange + funding fees)
- You will be redirected to interkassa.com. Translate this webpage to your language and select other payment systems --> UKASH
- Create a dummy e-mail for verfication purposes then enter the voucher number and amount.
- Go back to btc-e.com and place an order for bitcoins.

I usually have my btc within 20 minutes (rates are often better than MtGox or Tradehill too) and tumble them using a couple instawallets before sending them to SR.

Hope that helps
