Hash: SHA1

I have a both a degree in pharmacology and organic chemistry. So if any of you are interested, need help, or tips you can come to me anytime!

Chemically speaking I'm strong in aspects of synthesis of certain chemicals to produce... happy pills I'll leave it at that :p

Actually, a while back I made a video which I turned into a gif describing the safrole oil > MDMA synthesis.

Take a look at it if you want: http://anony.ws/i/gQ9.gif

anyway.... donations are appreciated: 1CZmoTcworNLZox4WsSDqgGh3bPfruEAjB (bitcoin address)

I'd love to be your go to help guy for any beginning chemists or pharmacologists or those who are just interested in the way drugs affect the body / brain.

Thanks as always!

Wish I could ask for donations :D  Wait ... no I don't , heh.

I gladly share my knowledge with anyone in these forums and I think i've annoyed some with my long winded technical explanations (I have PhD in Biophysics, specialty is Structural BIOCHEMISTRY (im a biochemist by trade) using NMR).

microRNA also seems like a fairly knowledgeable academic, though I don't know his credentials, and some of what he's said is wrong, so .. meh we all make mistake I guess hahah.

Anyways, there are a bunch of us here I think bud, your not new, but welcome to the science club ! NO GIRLS ALLOWED (actually i'd take any girl that'd have me haha)

^^Yeah, I have questions, but don't really want to get specific in plain text.  Although, any tips on homemade lab equipment, can't afford all that expensive glass and I don't want to risk theft?  Also, I would actually be willing to pay for some one-on-one help.  I've not been to college and it's been a while since I took any science classes.  But I am reading some (really basic) chemistry lately.

There's chemistry supply shops and Pyrex© at walmart is the best way to go if you want the good glass. Also, even some chemistry sets at toy stores provide some usable flasks and stuff ETC. Also, look around in your auto-supply stores. You might find a few things there.

As for me, my home lab is all stuff that has been given away basically by the lab at my ex-college before I graduated (plus I stole a shit load of chemicals and glass equipment)

You beat me to it :D

I just wanna add though, as he inferred, glassware isn't nearly as expensive as you might think (no offense to the vendor who is selling glassware on here, but his/her prices are ASININE).

eBay believe it or not is actually another good source for glassware.  Lab equipment isn't contraband, and is sold/exchanged so frequently that I highly doubt any LE agencies are watching every single eBay labware transaction.

There are many equipment companies i'm sure you could make an account with, without having to provide much info (probably even get away with fake info) so long as its glassware (vs. realtime items such as RNAses, restriction enzymes, etc.).  The two that I use most often are Fischer Scientific and Sigma Aldrich ... but I have an actual legit account with both, so i'm not sure how it would play out for you.

One other option, which I do not like suggesting but will anyways lol.  If you go to any university, most have labs that you need a swipe card to unlock and get into.  Luckily for you most of us are annoyed by this and leave our door's wide open.  Furthermore, there are long periods of time when a lab with an open door is completely vacant of researchers as they are ... elsewhere doing other things.  I need not explain any further what I am suggesting as i'm sure you understand, but will say this.  If I were to ever catch you, or anyone in my lab touching my equipment (never mind stealing it), I would slit your throat :)

Yeah, I like I said, I'm definitely not going to be getting anything through theft, and I'm getting to old to get the school kids to swipe for me.  I do have some college buddies, but I don't know what the science programs are like at the small university near me. I guess I was thinking more specific things like sep-funnels, condensers, vacuum setups, and adapters with multiple inputs or outputs for drips and vacuum.  (I saw the listings here on the road, and such an investment is appropriate for me as I'm not even sure I'd follow through with anything.)  Maybe I'll pick-up one of those toy-store/hobby kits just to play around with the basics.

Also, info on household precursors for various chemicals needed for distillation and reduction processes and how to refine them.  I'm getting kind of specific here, and I've still got a lot of reading to do on my own before diving in.  I am however thinking about going back for some further education in a completely unrelated field,  but perhaps I could fill out my curriculum with some basic 101 stuff.

I'm by no means attempting to dive into this stuff head first, but it does interest me and I believe I have the aptitude for it.  Also, I've found myself in a location that is suitable for some home experimentation.  Anyway, I appreciate the thread, and perhaps in the not-so-distant future, I would be interested in some more personal lessons through our unique anonymous interface here on the Road.

id like to encourage you to get onto the SILC chat too if you have time, can never have too many chemistry heads in there and us armchair biochemists can learn a lot simply from the conversations the real chemists often have on there! (not to mention we can pick your brains a little too :P )

don't know how to do it!!! haha apparently it isn't possible since I'm on a mac.

But thanks for the invite ^_^'

microRNA also seems like a fairly knowledgeable academic, though I don't know his credentials, and some of what he's said is wrong, so .. meh we all make mistake I guess hahah.

I am a graduate level student, with a background in neuroscience and microbiology, so I am definitely in a position to further my education as well. Would you mind explaining the instances you are referring to, because I do not know of any posts in which you refute any of my claims. I would appreciate if you point out and correct any of my misconceptions or erroneous statements, especially if I am leading others astray. I am only aware of 2 accidentally incorrect posts I have made, which have both been corrected. If you are referring to my statement about MDMA, potentially we should start a new thread to discuss the topic.

Thank you,
- miRNA

I meant no offense bro.  I havnt gone trolling threads trying to find posts you made so I have no 'specific' basis to claim you make 'erroneous statements', nor have I even been around here long enough to gauge your knowledge.  My .... semi-hostile attitude is just because so many 'textbook chemists' go around spouting their mouths (wherein 'spouting their mouths' means copying and pasting something).  I was/am pretty sure you are not one of those, but hadn't had a chance to speak to you in any technical capacity until just recently.  Those textbook chemist's discredit us real researchers and make it damned hard to put the correct information out there and have anyone believe you anymore then they would the textbook chemists (i'm not about to tell you the names of any of my publications to prove my credentials either ...)

I've read maybe one or two misinterpretations of the terms you've used in a post here or there, but I think you and I are the only ones reading these sciency responses to each other lol.

If I were to find any I will PM you, I wouldn't mention it in the forums, that's rude :D and trollish

I'm not sure what your MDMA comment was but REALLY want to know now.  I have a VERY PASSIONATE CONVICTION to my stance on MDMA, so if yours differs I will gladly start a new thread to 'discuss' our differences in opinion :D  Please do tell !

I really wasnt offended at all just more curious, and definitely wanted you to correct me if I had the wrong idea about something since I am always trying to further my understanding. I wanted to change my posts too so others didnt interpret anything incorrectly as well. I completely agree with you about people without background knowledge and experience making claims and suggesting things, however I hope I do not do that. I mainly just try to answer peoples questions, especially for harm reduction, to the best of my ability. You are probably right that I do not choose exactly the precise terms which is important (especially since I am baked most of the time while on here  :P), but I assumed I had made a gross error since you said I was wrong. Sadly I may have actually made an actual error and recommended GummyStars for his god service when it turns out he seems to be another scam unfortunately. Now that was wrong I am beginning to think.

In regards to MDMA, I have noticed you have posted that it was not neurotoxic, and while I am not saying it will fry the serotonergic fibers with moderate isolated use, I would still say that it is certainly stressful on these neurons and there is still a significant amount of research referencing the neurotoxicity of MDMA. I would agree alcohol is damaging as well, but possibly we just have different ideas of the term "neurotoxicity." You can probably see why there could easily be an entire thread dedicated to the matter.

Thanks for your response,
- microRNA

Not a chemist, but have you checked American Science and Surplus for lab glassware and bits and bobs?
