Post by: ikalihi812 on March 06, 2012, 12:43 pm
Can we factor in the two e-currencies above in conjunction with Bitcoin?

Solidcoin stands for blatant scamcoin
IXCoin, I0Coin, Litecoin, God knows what coin... those are scams or alike
Exception to Namecoin, which is misused like bitcoin, it's indeed a failed DNS project support tool.

I'd definitely like to see litecoin support added, but as has been already said, namecoin is not supposed to be used this way.

I would definitely like to see some litecoin support added, once it gets more popular. Maybe in another 2 years ( if SR lasts that long, and sure do hope it does! ), sometime before the reward per block gets halved.

Litecoin price has gone up from 0.0032 btc to about 0.006 btc in just a span of 3 -4 weeks (btc-e).
That's almost 50% appreciation in value.
Also, during that same time, the difficulty has gone up from ~9 to ~13
I assume this is because of the increased interest in LTC and the fact that BTC mining difficulty jumped again this time around, making mining BTC even less profitable as compared to LTC.

I think LTC carries the same risk of early adoption as bitcoin did, so might be a good thing to consider.

Namecoins - i do not understand. I do not even see the point of having them. And they would be totally useless to most people here.

While ltc is doing quite well these days (https://btc-e.com/exchange/ltc_btc).

I don't see much of a reason for SR to incorporate a possibly volatile currency into it's cart system. I think it may take some work to actually get the cart system to accept it. Regardless it's really easy for people to just exchange their ltc (or whatever currency) for btc and spend it here, less confusing one currency to deal with.
