Title: Shipping Address
Post by: ShieLdz on February 17, 2012, 05:01 am
I know this topic has posted numerable times, but Pharmville's vendor page prompted me speak up...Pharmville says:

*IMPORTANT #2: Please do NOT use a fake name. We want you to receive your shipment ASAP.
You can change one letter in your last name and use your first initial. No one will
know your real name but your postman will know the package is for *you*.
Example: your name is James Frick so you tell sellers to send to: J. Frack
NOTICE: if your shipment is not delivered or returned because you used a fake name or fake
address, you will still be liable for the full amount of the order. We take this condition
of sale very seriously and we do not desire to do business with persons who feel they cannot
or will not comply with this condition. No matter what nonsense is posted on the SR forums
sometimes, the safest way to guarantee delivery is to use your real name and address. Two
decades of experience have shown this to be true. :)

I NEVER use my real name. I ALWAYS use the name of a business and although I don't think I own this corp. anymore I did at one point and still receive a TON of junkmail to that name. Incorporated addresses are NOT uncommon in the US (A LOT of people are incorporated and many own multiple corporations) - it takes less than 5mins and $20usd to form a corporation - whereas receiving something with just your initials or receiving something with a misspelled name IS fairly uncommon. I'M NOT ASKING I AM TELLING!!!  I have used the same name for YEARS before SR and pharmville even existed and will  for years after I'm sure. I conducted a great deal of WHOLESALE biz through the mail in the past and this corporation has never failed me.

Also whatever happened to "anonymous" marketplace!?! No bullshit, I read a thread on here where a custopmer posted negative feedback about a vendor (not PV  ;)) and the next day this customer was receiving threats from someone(?) saying that they had a spam bot and planned on posting his full name/address on the forum pages every 10 minutes! Thankfully that ASSHOLE did not follow up on his threats, that is nonetheless very disheartening.  >:(   besides you have no idea what they're doing with your address,,,are they saving it? deleting it? and how are they saving/deleting it? and are you sure that's what they're doing with them??

CONCLUSION: no matter what "nonesense" is posted by power-tripping vendors, remember to stop and think before you go sending your real name to people   :D

EDIT: btw, this not an assualt on PV, they shipped to my address w/o question. I just think most people don;t know what to do and for whatever reason a lot of peeps on SR think the mispelled name game is the only way to go...but remember there's 'more than one way to skin a cat' - as the saying goes
