I want to offer smaller samples in order to gain full trust with the buyer community and get good product to some ppl with less coins but..... Couldnt other sellers of a similar product just buy small cheap samples with a buyer account they created or one from before they were a seller and make unfair bashes in my feedback to up there reputation and ruin mine? Is there anyway to weed out these types? I was thinking of offering refunds on samples if i suspect this is happening, but if you offer a refund, are they still allowed to give feedback? Im not here to compete and bash other sellers at all, im just here to sell my products and make my customers happy. Am I just being paranoid? Would you be? Do other sellers ever get jealous and do this? or is their basically no way to know or find out even if they did and I should stick to what Im doing? which is trying to build my rep slow and perfect as to hopefully avoid scams like this? Any opinions would be appreciated, thanks

Every strategy contains risks...decide the level of risk and then act.
I am a recent vendor (a couple of months here). Have a look at my stats, feedback, numbers of trades and quality of my service.
Ultimately you build a reputation by your actions/interactions with the road.
I am so grateful for good advice - to embark on forum debate, and add to the quality of advice here...to offer samples to reputable buyers (you can tell from stats a great deal...if not from this, interact and take your instinct decision again)
There is very little likelyhood that the scenario you paint is going to happen in my experience or opinion for that matter.
It's a waste of time and why fuck with someone who is just starting out...the road has sufficient vendors/customers to satisfy and seems to very well moderate itself with forums and feedback mechanics. I think the inherent features help a great deal in this.
I've dealt with a couple of idiotic people, but I have to say, that of my 300+ transactions 99.9% have been really great to deal with, honest, friendly and full of mutual respect for what is being achieved.
Hope this helps and good luck friend...

you bring up real good concern, you probably will never know but most vendors have reliable and return customers and are so busy filling orders and what not they wont bother doing that i mean maybe im sure there are a few that i would say might attempt it but i would imagine it would be more efficient for them to find better product than attempt to bash others....also check the stats and forum presence of prospective buyers and if they are serious sample reviewers you will see it in their posts for sure ....i mean i would use buyers only with established stats and that have had at least 30+ transactions but like already stated there is a risk in everything you do but i dont think other sellers would necessarily get jealous there are so many vendors and customers on the road, how could they pinpoint u as the vendor stealing their customers and not someone in another part of the world so i would say i see your concern but i would have to say its minimal and im sure you will build you rep very fast especially if you products are HQ ....but go with your gut and what you think is the best method.

30+ buyers are not that easy to attract - one other alternate strategy which worked for me was to be "newbie friendly"..now this really is somewhat a risk as of course you are dealing with newcomers - however, my logic was that as I was new here too, I wanted to be open and helpful...and to an extent I do believe you get what you give. I conduct myself in a certain way and expect the same in return...and I am very pleased to say that in the vast majority of cases that's exactly what I have found here.
So give a thought to those new customers too...in this case, discuss with them, get to know them...you can tell a lot by their posts and messages.
It may sound bizarre for someone in my line of work, but I do conduct much of my online and offline business based on very old school principles...my word is my bond and trust is everything...I have been stung once or twice, but in the main, I get a similar response back from those I deal with...and life's too short to go looking for trouble ;)
Cheers

It is possible, but haven`t seen others do that. Just make sure you dont take all of their buyers :) The same could be done to an old vendor.

ahh very true i see about the whole buyer over 30 transaction hard to attract...your right most wouldnt...i have over that for transactions and i have no problem working with new vendors cause i get to establish a great relationship at first but i see what your saying and your right most buyers probably would be a little wary at first and you being the vendor has more experience in this method and you have already explored what has worked so i agree the more i think about it now, i am just a constant customer and basing my theories off of what has worked for real good vendors of mine when they first started out and help them get their feet underneath them and become big players on the Road

to only people that do the bashing are scammers trying to move more targets there way i wouldn't worry 8)

Well thanks for all the replies and advice/sharing your experiences, it all helps and gives me some things to consider. In my local game experience, I agree, being consistently straight up and honest goes a long way and wont matter if an asshole here and there tries to screw shit up, thanks again!
