Title: Not able to login thru android anymore?
Post by: SpaceChimp on June 10, 2013, 05:39 am
Can't figure out what it is... Know I didn't forget my password, and never accessed thru a different url so wasn't hacked. And trying another name I have but never use also failed to work. Used to work just fine asrrecently as a couple weeks ago. Any ideas as to what could be going on?

good.

Haha but seriously, I suggest not ever doing that. There's multiple threads here explaining why. The bottom line is it isn't secure at all. Maybe try getting a cheap laptop.

You're honestly asking to get caught by accessing TOR/silk road through a phone, let alone a phone that records all info for LE to access (smart phones)..

You  have updated to a newer version of orweb browser which automatically blocks all cookies. Go to settings and select accept cookies (if you only use it for SR this isn't a problem; make sure you always check URL)

Not getting into the whole using Tor on a phone debate; but I think you'll find that's why it isn't working

Can you tell me which directory these logs are saved in? My android tablet is rooted so I have access to the whole filesystem, and I think I'm going to delete them.

I can't tell you exactly, I'll leave that to someone with more knowledge on the topic. However, I have heard that the GPS can map out where you have been from weeks ago. This altogether is bad news, let alone what the ISP can provide to LE. I'm sure the ISP can tell if the user is using TOR to visit certain websites.

Surely this applys to all ISP not just mobile providers? And if so it renders Tor fairly pointless.

And as far as GPS goes, surely your phone is doing that whether or not you use it  to access SR? An ordinary cellphone can also be used to track you from records of it pinging cell towers, but I'm not sure how this information can be connected to your Silk Road account  at the other end of three hops?
Of course, malicious software could be installed on your device and used to deanonymise you but isn't this also true of laptops? The only truly safe solution  is a bootable cd or USB stick using tails or liberte.

I have been playing with custom ROMs on my device, and I believe it is possible to install Ubuntu on an android device. You can also mount USB drives. I wonder if it would be possible to boot liberte on an android tablet? (Tails takes too much RAM I think?). Beyond my abilities I suspect but sure it could be done.

Not if you turn your GPS off and then your OS would still have to log it and LE would have to have access to your phone to see it.
They can already see your general location most of the times anyway just by requesting the logs from your provider since they constantly keep track of this by looking at what cell phone towers you're connected to.
So unless your phone is turned off or in flight mode they already have a good idea of your whereabouts.
Also your ISP can't tell what websites you're viewing only that you're using Tor and you could hide that as well by using a bridge/obfsproxy or a VPN.
