Title: Marijuana-Like Chemicals Inhibit HIV - Mount Sinai School of Medicine Study
Post by: DiMiTriSpice on April 10, 2012, 02:17 pm
This is too much so I had to share. The article is "Marijuana-Like Chemicals Inhibit Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) in Late-State AIDS" and begins as follows:

"ScienceDaily (Mar. 20, 2012) — Mount Sinai School of Medicine researchers have discovered that marijuana-like chemicals trigger receptors on human immune cells that can directly inhibit a type of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) found in late-stage AIDS, according to new findings published online in the journal PLoS ONE."

You can check the whole thing out here - http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2012/03/120320195252.htm

HAHAHAHAHA! Score One for the team! Ha! Next stop - Cancer.

The study showed that by treating HIV infected cells with a cannabinoid agonist blocked signaling of CXCR4 thus preventing viral entry into cells. This has nothing to do with smoking pot. Guessing you prob didn't read it. I was trying to show how plants which we have used medicinally for millenia are relevant to developing cures to modern diseases.
