Title: My deposit failed

So I deposited some bitcoins about 5 days ago and it still isn't in my account and it says it's unconfirmed in the wallet. Is it retrievable or eternally lost in the cold abyss of the internet?

Does your Bitcoin client have an up-to-date blockchain? Is the number of blocks the same as: http://blockexplorer.com/q/getblockcount or has it stopped increasing?

If it's frozen, delete the blockchain and re-download it (instructions are on the Bitcoin Wiki somewhere I think)... careful not to delete wallet.dat
