Title: Tails or Liberte
Post by: Heyenezz on March 11, 2012, 09:26 am
I'm trying to get Liberte to work, but am wondering how Tails compares.

1. Which is more secure and why?
2. Does Tails leave any traces on the computer?
3. Does Tails encrypt all your data the way Liberte does (it requires a password on start up)?
4. Does it allow you to store all your private data elsewhere on the Tor network for the purpose of plausible deniability per this thread:http://dkn255hz262ypmii.onion/index.php?topic=14430.0?
5. Does Tails save *any* of my data on the USB? If not, would such data be recoverable via computer forensics?

Thanks for any help.

1. This has been debated many times on both tails and liberte forums/websites. Best to read up there.
2. No, it is a live operating system. It only runs in the memory, and clears that memory when shutting down.
3. No, again it is a live operating system. You will have to setup a seperate encrypted partition to store any data. (until persistance is added)
4. Haven't read that thread, and won't get around to it for a little while. I'll leave that to someone more experienced.
5. No, it is just as if you had a live CD of any other linux operating system. Just the system itself is there, you cannot personalize it or change it.
