Title: How to ship priorty mail with stamps?
Post by: methyboy on February 28, 2012, 06:48 am
How does one ship out priority mail boxes the smallest ones with stamps. Im sure you have to get the 4.95 stamps or the 5.00 dollar stamps but were does one get these only at the post office and must you pay with creditcard? Ive been trying to learn how to ship priority. Can anyone help me out i am not well informed of shipping with usps. especially on how to ship priority boxes.  Gracii!

You need to start with a Priority and then add additional postage.

Using regular stamps on a priority package is sketch as fuck.

For example a small flat rate box w/o DCN would be a 4.95 stamp and a .45 stamp and w/ DCN it would be a 4.95 and a dollar stamp (what I usually do) or if you can't get dollar stamps get 2 .45s and a .20 (extra postage).

No you don't have to pay with credit card. Go to the clerk and ask for stamps. I also suggest you ask them to give a bag (that way you don't touch the stamps) and ask them to throw some DCNs in there.

The 4.95 Stamps used to pay for envelopes until last month when priority mail got raised 20 cents. Most post offices still have the 4.95 stamps and not the new $5.15 stamps.

So pretty much buy the 4.95 stamps/ 5.15 stamps since postage recently went up  and some dollar stamps if available directly from post office (and of course the extra dollar stamp is only for when i will be using a dcn.. correct?  As far as the dcn i just stick it to the front of the box? That is if i use dcn to track it right? Also so pretty much to send the smallest priority box all i need is a 4.95/5.15 stamp (without DCN) or will it also need the extra 45cent stamp. Thank you so much foxy!!!!!

5.15 is for a priority mail envelope.

For a box you will either need a 4.95 and a .45 or a 5.15 and a .20.

I suggest you use DCN but its up to you. Its always a good .70 well spent to have peace of mind.

Is a 4.95 stamp and three 45cent;first class mail stamps enough to ship a small flat rate box or a 4.95 stamp and two 45cent stamps and an additional 20cent stamp. Shipping it with delivery confirmation tho not just the the box dcn included price?

Can anyone tell me if these prices are still right & can you drop off the small priority boxes in any blue box? I am wanting to offer priority w/dcn as a shipping option.

prices are correct, and if it can fit through the blue box's door and weighs <13oz it'll ship

the small box is $5.35 not $5.15 though

LOL!  What's sketchy is so many people here handing out advice on topics they know nothing
about.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with placing postage stamps on a Priority envelope or box..or on any other class of mail for that matter.

The current Priority Flat Rate Small Box postage is $5.35.  Add 75 cents for DCN.  Buy Priority Stamps or use any combination of denominations totaling $6.10.   Sm flat box easily fits in drop box.

PS. DCN stickers are available for the taking same as Flat Rate envelopes, Express labels, Customs forms, etc.  No reason to ask at the counter.
