Title: Good old fashioned Mexican sativa?
Post by: Coffee on September 25, 2012, 05:52 pm
OK, don't get me wrong. There's a lot to like about the current state of marijuana. But being an infrequent smoker, most of the stuff I've picked up in the last several years has just been too much for me, a few little tokes on my glass piece often gets me straight wasted and almost incapable of functioning normally in the outside world. The stuff I have now (no-name dank bought locally) makes me couch-locked and paranoid. I realize this is strain-related and a function of me having little/no tolerance anymore. I would have loved to have weed like this back when I was a daily smoker, to knock me out after a long day.

Back in the 90s/early 2000s most of my pot was purchased from a local Mexican connection. He always had two products, variable quality on each but there was always the standard mudbrick, then also big bags of loose, fluffy buds. Sometimes gold, sometimes a lime-ish shade, sometimes dark and covered with tiny red hairs, but always cheap (well, about $320-400/QP, ran about twice as much as the brick back then) and always excellent. Nice smelling, nice tasting, barely any seeds and the high... Oh the high. Perfect herb to smoke a fatty before school/work, lovely active buzz that eventually faded with zero groggy after effects. I miss this stuff so much. Perhaps some of you guys can identify.

I haven't seen anything remotely similar on the road, wondering if people just think it's not worth selling here? Or has the domestic cottage industry pretty much killed the desire of large scale Mexican growers to continue with their "premium" products and focus on bulk shitweed? Considering trying some of the outdoor African sativas (or perhaps some of that Phillipino hash) for a proper "legacy" high that is not just an exercise in trying to make the plants look frosty as possible. Any recommendations for anything similar, could be a new strain as long as it is not ridiculously potent, perhaps it is old age creeping in but I just don't like getting ridiculously high anymore, I just want a little bit of relief while I go about my normal daily routines. I have tried some modern sativas but a lot of them are just too potent for me, even a bat hit sometimes takes me farther than I want to go. Any advice is appreciated.

I've heard the closer you are to the border, the better the mexican is.  My friends roommate they called Fabio because he had long blond hair, he was more of  a cowboy type, went to mexico, brought back the silver leaf gold hair mexican sativa, gosh, the high was incredible.  There was a vendor with good Sativas, forget the name, you should look around, but this gal has the best from what I can tell, only sells sativas.  look around.
