Title: the role of the vendor
Post by: forumlogin on May 17, 2012, 03:27 pm
im aware there is risk for both buyers and sellers, been on the silkbadboy for a while now and the attitude of vendors stinks at times. As a buyer i dont have to put up with scam buyers, only scam sellers....but i aint making any money here...only spending it so to me that increases my risk as i aint ever guna re-coup any losses through sales.just been on sweetleaf londons page and boy has he let rip at his "customers"...basically saying he is doing us a favour by selling on the silk road! ive bought off him/her before...product/packaging exceptional...but whats with the "finalise or i wont send it" stuff? i was just guna purchase off him/her but ill go elsewhere as i dont understand why anyone would finalise early.ive got great buyers stats...zero auto-finalisations,zero refunds and alot of money spent! however i just dont agree with the my way or the highway attitude of some vendors.if its that bad pack your shit and leave.at the end of the day prices on the silkroad are  a rip off anyway so im sure it doesnt take vendors long to make back their losses, and the bottom line is if u wana sell on this site you are guna get ripped from time to time, its called the cost of business.it used to happen to us all when we were younger..."its my ball..im going home" c'mon guys try and keep the toys in the pram

i have used SweetLeafLondon before and only ever recieved top notch product & great customer service. many vendors do require FE, some dont. i think that if the terms and conditions are CLEARLY stated on the vendors homepage then it is entirely at the digression of the buyer. i know SR users want total Escrow every time but i cant see it being a one size fits all rule; the rule of <10 buys with >X spend and >X refund rate for out of escrow purchases seems to have sat well with the majority of new users, fair is fair;buyers rip sellers too.
when i first joined SR i didn't expect anyone to work within escrow for a totally new user and they didn't,what has surprised me though is the amount of vendors willing to work within escrow after id made a few purchases. SLL premero marrocan was my first purchase and like i said,i was very happy & will use them again, ok; totally no Escrow will not please everyone, but so that bills are paid, new stock is moved and things continue well, it can be nessecary for smaller opperations, SLL said they are toying with the idea of a 'members club' for regular customers (+10 buys,) you never know, you may get reduced rates, shipping and escrow!

but if you want a escrow reccomendation, talk to Jezail, the Dude totally rules & his hash is gorgeous. havent tried SLL's green, but there is plenty of time.

I couldn't agree more.  The next vendor I use who displays the arrogance, bitchiness, and crybaby attitude of Tony76 can fuck straight off.  I'll find another one.  I want customer service, and I'm willing to pay for it.  There is more to being a vendor, in my humble opinion, than getting the product to the customer at the vendor's convenience.

I'm tired of vendors "too busy" to respond to legitimate questions.  It's a rare occasion that I send a pm to a vendor, but when I do I expect a response in a reasonable amount of time, because it's a legitimate question and it deserves an answer.  I won't send 30 messages, just one.  And maybe a follow up.

I also get tired of seeing my orders languishing in "processing" for up to a week at a time.  Got too many orders to process?  Delist.  Or go stealth.  Just be good at the job you chose to do here.  Or go do something else.

I'm not a bitchy buyer at all, even thought I might sound like a cunt for some of what I said.  I'll always work a problem out privately with a vendor if I am able to do so.  I won't try to extort a vendor with bad feedback or by airing dirty, shit- stained underwear in the forums.  I ALWAYS finalize within minutes of receiving my order.  I don't demand, nor check, DCNs.  I'll send referrals, and rave about good vendors in the forums.  I don't get upset when a mistake is made, and I'm patient with transit times.

In short, I am a model buyer always looking for a model vendor who is stable and reliable.  I have found a few here that I use regularly and would recommend to anyone, but I'm always looking for a backup...

Hello gents,

I'm glad you brought this up tbh. I'm going to try and keep this short... Basically all the stuff on our vendor page and the strict T&Cs is just an attempt to stop scam attempts before they even bother. You wouldn't believe how much of our time is taken up by fucking off persistent pests. All we want to do is sell best quality smoke to those who appreciate it and we haven't got the time to deal with all the other bullshit. In reality, behind closed doors things are a lot more relaxed. We don't hold any returning customers package to ransom until they finalise. They could just be at work or whatever... ya, know and our NO.1 aim is to get you the weed asap. That's our thing...

We always post same day for next day whenever that is possible, when we say your pack has been processed and will be dispatched shortly, that means within an hour at the most. I really want to emphasize that, we don't like to ask people to finalise and respect the system so in asking you to do so, that is a guarantee that I will get that order to you as soon as possible - I've cycled 4miles to the last depot that takes drops until 7.30 or chased vans down the road. Honestly you would piss yourself if you witnessed some of the situations!

If someone had dealt with us before a few times and had good stats, we just send a message out that it's on it's way - I would respect and trust them enough to do what you see fit. I don't even check to see if these people have finalsied or not, I don't need to as there is never an issue. You pass the same leniency onto people who aren't regulars or have lower stats.... and BAM they don't finalise and guess what - their pack didn't arrive. Now we have substantial funds held up again slowing things up!

This is why we want to take this stealth so EVERYONE we deal with is a regular!

That's a vendors point of view anyway and it's not our intention to offend, just try and cut put the scammers so we can make Silk Road as best as it can be. I can see how it would appear really arrogant and off putting but I'm sure anyone of regulars would tell you that we're in fact the complete opposite inside...

In best faith, TonyGlow/SLL

Hey man, I just wanted to say that what your pissed about is the EXACT thing we're not. We set up as we knew (as 'customers' ourselves) that this is what people/we wanted. If you want something you want it NOW and until some change of the law in this country, we're trying to offer the next best solution. Did you know that if Royal Mail gets privatised it is likely that there would be delivery 7 days a week. We'd really be rolling then! ;)

Anyway, all messages answered within two hours max, orders processed same day and dispatch at the next possible opportunity or you can call us out on it...

We just really appreciate the FE request as we're a small operation working with many different suppliers AND it put's off scammers - but you can see the reality of how things work in my earlier post.

Cheers for now, TG

I have learned from being a buyer what people want in a vendor.

1. "Processing" should mean "Processing" (not.. X number of days to ignore it while the buyer can't click Cancel)
2. "In Transit" should really mean "In Transit" (i.e. it's already in the post)

Everything else that isn't a security risk is pretty much optional. People want their shit.. and they would like it about 20 minutes after they enter their PIN and click "Purchase".

Obviously the 20 minute thing is an exaggeration but when people pay extra for Priority.. and they already parted with their cash.. vendors should not be acting entitled.. they should be working.

I asked a notable CM vendor what three traits were most critical to succeeding as a vendor on S.R.
His response...
"1. Security 2. Purity 3. Ingenuity... but MAINLY.. Get The Fucking Package in the mail!"

I see so little ingenuity from most of the vendors. I only wish vendors could send a sample of packaging to SR to get a seal of approval show ingenuity. I understand the discreet shipping but I prefer the vendors that go with more than a basic envelope and a few sheets of paper especially when crossing borders.

I think the main problem is alot of vendors on here arent day to day dealers so they cant handle it and they think they are the shit because they have alot of sells on here so there attitude and cockiness is through the roof as for me i have been doing this locally for years so i know what it takes to adapt with every type of customer because i have dealt with it on the streets and its ten times worse than here i hate when people bitch when all in all u arent having to do shit to get customers its like fishing with dynamite when it comes to getting customers on here of course ur gonna get ripped thats buisness. try having 3 black people shove a .45 in ur mouth and telling u to give u all there money trust me it sucks some vendors just are nerds with a decent connect and think there hot shit because they vend and this is all coming from a vendor who everyone should use  ;D

Everything mentioned in this thread are reasons we started vending... any of our regulars will tell you we live up to that. And the reason we've been scammed a lot less than most others is that none of this is new ground for us, either online or in the RW... tbh, it's exactly the same type of bollocks and we see SR as a platform for getting rid of that bullshit for good.

I have been dealing with all of this exact bullshit, in every way trying to complete a domestic H order, shit has been driving me crazy, five days in processing.  Shit marked shipped then five days later I am informed it will be sent tomorrow first thing.  WTF

So I tried to read the original post. It is hard for me when it is written like that.

That being said I am not an English snob nor am I all about punctuation. But people this is a forum and we need to read these post. At least take the time when you are starting a thread to reread it and at least make it readable. End rant.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So this is from a vendor point of view. Mine. Mine only. I do not speak for any vendor but myself.

We don't exist with out  the buyer. That is a fact. But there is a LOT more of you then us. We deal with way more bullshit then you can even imagine. The customers that ACTUALLY buy from me are fantastic. I have had over 120 in the last month. Only 1 bad. It was my first month on SR. Not my first in dealing with selling product. I totally agree with a lot that was said before my post. But some I disagree. There is no reason at all for a vendor not to respond to your questions. I believe never. But I can see a vendor ignoring your question if it is already answered on his vendor page. Even if his response was just to say "see vendor page for answer" I can see how a vendor would not even want to do that. Again, I disagree but I would understand their point.

I believe that you the buyer should not complain about a vendor.Let me explain. Just do not use them. Yes you can come in here after you deal with them and tell your true story. Good or bad. But in truth you should do your homework before you use that vendor. If they are new then message them and ask questions. Try to ask all your questions in one message. Please read the vendor page and the listing page FIRST. If your question is not answered then ask. If they fail to respond within 24 hours. Don't do business with them. SIMPLE.

Never FE. Period. If you do and you get screwed it is your fault. Yes, I know that is a harsh answer that  you will for sure argue with me. But truth is you have been warned 100's of times. You are told on the check out page not to. So it is your fault. I don't think any vendor should ask for FE. PERIOD. Again, that is my opinion but I understand some of the other vendors opinions and to each is there own. You have a choice. You make that decision.

If you took all the vendors and all the sellers there are way more sellers that are scammers then vendors % wise. It is not close. This is not eBay. Vendors should give you good customer service. That being said they can do business however they want. They do not have to be nice to you. They do not have to answer your questions. There only job is to get you what you ordered as fast as they can. PERIOD. This site is about selling you things. Nothing else. Vendors realize that they have what you want. There are a lot more of you. Some vendors do not give a fuck about your questions or you. They want your BTC. They want to give you what you need. That is it. It really is that simple. If you don't buy someone else will. Sorry it is just a fact.

Though I don't do business like that I can see those vendors point. Especially with some of the products those vendors sell. I can tell you I sell pain medications and Xanax. Without question. It is not even close. Xanax customers are the worst. Not all. And to be honest it's not the actual buyers. It is all the "buyers" I deal with that are actually scammers and junkies. Like I said the actual buyers I have are really good and I have not had 1 bad experience with a Xanax buyer of mine. Out of the 120+ customers I had one asshole and it happened to be a Norco buyer. But the messages I get that are "scammers" are always asking or trying to get Xanax. I would think it would have been pain medication. I was wrong. It is 50-1 in favor of Xanax customers. You wouldn't even believe the stories and the messages I get over Xanax. I have had some buyers that tired after the sale to scam me. But it didn't work. And I was able to maneuver. I would love to tell the story. I have to save that for the vendor forum.

Some customers that contact me act as if I need them and it is their rules. It is not. It is my rules. If you do not like my rules then do not deal with me. It is really that simple. This post is not about me and how I do business. It is about the shit I/we go through as vendors. Like I said, I agree with a lot that has already been said. The vendor that posted was right on. Actually one of the posters in this thread is a customer of mine. They are very good.

I believe a customer should shoot a message to the vendor and tell them they are going to order xxxx. They should ask how long it will take to process and get in the actual mail. I would hate if I was a buyer to have the vendor mark in transit and not actually have mailed it. Trust me it is a pain for me to have the order packaged and ready to go and not confirm it. But I do not confirm packages until they actually get shipped. It is hard when you have 20 orders pending and you have them all packaged and I can't mark in transit for another  say 6 hours. I still can't believe I get orders for large amounts and they do not message me. On one side it is nice and easy. But in truth I would rather them contact me first. I think most of the buyers that have dealt with me would tell you I try and work with them and give them as much information as I can. But my operation is relatively small. And I still answer 50 messages a day. And it is a lot of work.

In that message should be a heads up of what you are about to order and you should ask the vendor how long it will take to get the order processed and actually shipped. That way you know and if you do not like the time he gives you.... you can not order or explain what you expect to the vendor. Maybe they can meet your expectations. Maybe they will tell you to fuck off. Maybe you will them. It will for sure give you a better understanding on whet to expect.

After you get a response you should place the order. Nothing worse then having a conversation with a buyer and after 10 messages back and fourth they tell me they will make the purchase in a few days. Then a few days comes and they don't order. Then after 5 days they come back and either ask why the listing is gone(it was sold you stupid fuck) or they tell me they are ready why am I not. Contact the vendor when you are ready to buy. It makes it easier.

If is terrible when a customer orders THEN starts asking questions. Then they are not happy and they just say cancel my order. They could easily have avoided that. And if they piss of the vendor and they want to be a dick they could wait for 4 days then refund you. Now I would not do that. But I would like to... to some people. Some buyers are just plain nasty. As are vendors I am sure. But in truth most of us vendors have to be a little smart. We didn't just spend 3 minutes to create an account.

When you contact a vendor and you are having a conversation.... please refresh your browser after you send your message at least every minute. It is fucking terrible when I am "chatting" with you and I am sitting there for  10min waiting for you to respond. The message system is awesome. EXCEPT when you are trying to have an ongoing conversation. The only way to get around it is to keep hitting refresh. Period.

Realize that unlike you I am never just speaking to you. Almost always I am doing multiple things. You almost always are just "speaking" to me. I know you would like to believe I only care about you. I do care. But I have a lot of other things to do. I need to take care of business. I can't do it when you are asking me tons of questions.

Read feedback. Really read it. It should give you a great picture of a vendor. If the vendor has a less then 100 feedback, don't be scared off. Read the feedback. If they have a lot of 5/5 and just a couple other less then 5/5 realize that they are probably an awesome vendor and it was just a couple shitty buyers. Also look at the buyers 1/5. See what they actually say. If it was a long time ago then pay it no attention. Use your brain.

After you purchase an item and you see it has been marked in transit do not contact the vendor the next day and ask how long for it to get there. We have no fucking clue for the most part. Unless you ordered over nite service. Do not fucking contact your vendor about receiving date till at least day 3. Period!! Realize you are not our only customer. you should have asked BEFORE you purchased the item. If they told you 5 days it has been 4. Do not contact vendor. If they said 5 and it is day 5 do not contact vendor. Wait for the mail on day 6. Then AFTER the mail has been delivered and it is not there... contact the vendor. Be nice.

Yes I have had a buyer complain the package is not there yet. And it was 6 am his time!!! (yes it arrived that day.... no they didn't contact me to say sorry)

Have some patience.

Be nice. Do not threat your feedback to a vendor. Do not complain to the mods about the language the vendor uses or if he calls you an idiot. If they say that to you... it is 99.999% you are way fucking worse then an idiot. Don't be annoying. We do want to help you. But we are not a charity. I try and help every buyer. But I have helped over 15 buyers. Not one of them that promised to give me the 1 or under BTC they are short back. NOT ONE!!

I get all kinds of request from my buyers. They send 10 questions. All demanding some service from me. I do it. They get there package and they don't even say thanks. They don't finalize for 3 days. Then they never mention in there feedback about what I did. BEFORE they get there drugs they have all the time in the world. But once they get the package all of a sudden they are not in a big hurry.

Realize it takes about 2 min for you to change your name. Not so for us. We can't weed out the fucking idiots. We do not need your advice on how to sell or package. We don't need you to tell us are prices are to high. The suggestions from a buyer of mine are nice. I like the thank you's. You leaving me feedback is your way of saying "thanks". I believe that every buyer should with out question do everything they can to let the vendor fix the problem. I believe you should understand that mistakes happen. And you should be cool and understanding. You will get a lot more that way. Leaving 4/5 is bullshit. I understand that every vendor is not a 5/5. But I believe you should give the vendor a chance to fix any problems and if they do it is a 5/5.

You need vendors here. There will always be buyers. Good vendors are hard to come buy. I had a buyer(he happened to be a vendor) that purchased an item that was$76. He bought that and like 7 bars at $4.88 and 3 Roxie at $25.88. I found out that I had made the error pricing. I contacted him and told him I was going to cancel his order. I am not Nordtrom. If I make a mistake like that I am not going to honor the price. PERIOD. But when I contacted him he said" LOL.. I knew it was to good to be true! you sure you don't want to sell it to me...lol.. no problem man...I still want the other things".

He got the other items for free. I even sent it overnight  to them. In his feedback he never mentioned it. He got that service because I felt bad and he handled it perfect. But if I told you I was not disappointing about his feedback I would be lying. But I would never contact him to change it. It is HIS feedback and he can leave what he wants. There is 100% something wrong with our feedback system. The fact you can go back months later and change it is terrible. This is a whole other thread so I won't say more.

To complain about a vendors cockiness and attitude is a joke. Again I don't even know why someone would complain about those things. If I was a buyer I would want to deal with a cocky vendor. I would want him to tell me I will love his product and he is the best. That would be awesome. As long as it was true! But some buyers have small dicks. And they hate there life(I don't blame them). And you can never make those people happy. Some vendors have small dicks too. And they are miserable. And they are just terrible vendors. I would hope that none of you deal with them. If you do, then come in here and tell everyone. Just be honest.

Feedback is important. Don't leave these examples....

A++++
Thank you
your awesome
got it
well I ordered and got it in 3 days. not that fast but ok

Leave feedback that tells about your experience. Tell people what you got, how the vendor was, paint a picture. Take a minute or so. It is the least you can do. We risk our freedom. Yes you do too. But not like we do.

If your not contact the vendor and explain your problem. If they fix it..... leave the appropriate feedback. It is that simple. If something go's wrong don't be crazy. Don't panic. Contact your vendor and give them time to get to your message. It could take 12 hours. Don't message support. They are very busy with other idiots. Don't you be one too. Trust me be nice and be cool. You will get treated right. If you don't. Then come in here and fucking blast them. Leave them 1/5. Tell them you hope they die. Do whatever you feel is right. Just be honest.

You are always reasonable, objective, and manage to see both sides of any issue.  And you recognize the value of communication.

I hope no one inferred from my earlier comments regarding vendors with bad attitudes that I was putting all of you down...  Quite the opposite, and I hope the difference is clear.

Given my choice between fantastic product at a cheap price from a vendor with a shitty attitude and poor communication, and the same product at a higher price from a friendly, responsive vendor- I'll choose to pay more for the customer service I get from the latter.  I realize not all buyers think like this.  I've always been willing to pay extra for no bullshit.

Like going to a car dealer and beating the salesman to death over a couple hundred bucks on an already no profit deal on say $30,000+ worth of inventory, and shopping every dealer in three sates...  Those kind of people really expect that they'll get the same bend over backwards treatment as the customer who just wants a fair deal, and is willing to allow the dealer to make a reasonable profit.

Cheaper isn't always better, although the corporate climate in which we live would have us believe otherwise- as long as the profits going into the 1%'s pockets aren't cheap.  I go to mom and pop stores when I have the choice.  I support local small businesses whenever I can.  Give me decent service, and I WANT you to make a good profit so that you'll be able to stay in business and offer the same service the next time I need you.

Lol, I'm not interested in the Walmart of vendors here...

This is a whole other thread so I won't say more.

listen to yourself! you can talk about readable.i actually fell asleep during your post i was soooo bored...yawn! although ive been struggling to sleep recently so atleast you've provided me with a place to come to help me sleep...your posts!

if you would like me translate any part of it just let me know, but many others managed to grasp what its all about.as for your view of vending i can agree with some of your points, but bottom line is you dont have to sell and at the end of the day if you dont like it,you dont have to do it! you admit yourself that you've only had one bad buyer........sounds pretty good to me.

i have used SweetLeafLondon before and only ever recieved top notch product & great customer service. many vendors do require FE, some dont. i think that if the terms and conditions are CLEARLY stated on the vendors homepage then it is entirely at the digression of the buyer. i know SR users want total Escrow every time but i cant see it being a one size fits all rule; the rule of <10 buys with >X spend and >X refund rate for out of escrow purchases seems to have sat well with the majority of new users, fair is fair;buyers rip sellers too.
when i first joined SR i didn't expect anyone to work within escrow for a totally new user and they didn't,what has surprised me though is the amount of vendors willing to work within escrow after id made a few purchases.

As somebody who's been ripped off by Tony? I can't disagree with this more. Within escrow I could have got half my BTC back, which is fair. Because I FE'd, I get nothing. I accept responsibility for that instance but this concept of FE, I feel, should be banned. Barring new users from making large purchases or barring new users period is acceptable, non-SR purchases (non-escrow) are not.
