Title: FREE MOONSHINE CONTEST
Post by: pathenry76 on August 01, 2013, 12:14 am
Enter to win a free stainless steel flask of moonshine. Simply describe in 200 words or less the reasons for alcohol prohibition. I am not looking for the official reasons given by prohibitionists but rather the hidden reasons why big financial interests would want prohibition. There are several to give away.

Answers need not be verifiable, accurate or factual. They need only be plausible and entertaining. Though facts might get you at least as far as laughs.

I will PM the winners with the URL to a hidden listing with a price of $0.01 plus shipping.

The day that prohibition went into effect, the preacher billy sunday repeated before a radio audience the ridiculous fantasy of prohibition: “The reign of tears is over. The slums will soon be a memory. We will turn our prisons into factories and our jails into storehouses and corncribs. Men will walk upright now, women will smile and the children will laugh. Hell will be forever for rent” In reality, what prohibition caused was a huge loss of tax revenue and a black market for alcohol; for example cities like Chicago where gangsters ran alcohol distribution. It also increased the consumption of hard liquor because it was more convenient to produce and distribute than weaker drinks like beer.

Rich industrialists wanted to increase production by making alcohol illegal, so they could make people work more. They were backed by housewives who were pressured into believing that alcohol destroyed families by wasting money, making theyre husbands cheat or be alcoholics, etc.

These days its illegal to distill liquor because liquor is worth much more to the government than beer or wine in taxes. They pretend the issue is a 'health risk' in the media, but safe home stills could easily be sold legally to solve that supposed 'problem'. Its about tax dollars

In the early twentieth century Ford starting making cars that came in a variation that allowed the driver to switch the carburetor to run the engine on ethyl alcohol. This meant that anybody with a home-made still could easily make their own fuel. At this time in history John D. Rockefeller had a monopoly on American fuel and these alcohol-run cars angered him. So he took interest in the rising temperance movement and using his wealth and influence to bring it to the next level. Obviously his efforts worked and outlawing the production and sale of alcohol was successful. Rockefeller and the oil companies reaped tremendous profits as a result. During the period of prohibition (1919-1933) there was a huge rise in the sale and operation of automobiles. Almost every car in America was now operated solely on gasoline. By the time prohibition was ended by the 21st Amendment the automobile standard was already established and benefited Rockefeller greatly.

Took me a while to write it up, but here you are:
Prohibition in the United States was a measure designed to reduce drinking by eliminating the businesses that manufactured, distributed, and sold alcoholic beverages. The Eighteenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution took away license to do business from the brewers, distillers, vintners, and the wholesale and retail sellers of alcoholic beverages. The leaders of the prohibition movement were alarmed at the drinking behavior of Americans, and they were concerned that there was a culture of drink among some sectors of the population that, with continuing immigration from Europe, was spreading.

The prohibition movement's strength grew, especially after the formation of the Anti-Saloon League in 1893. The League, and other organizations that supported prohibition such as the Woman's Christian Temperance Union, soon began to succeed in enacting local prohibition laws. Eventually the prohibition campaign was a national effort.

During this time, the brewing industry was the most prosperous of the beverage alcohol industries. Because of the competitive nature of brewing, the brewers entered the retail business. Americans called retail businesses selling beer and whiskey by the glass saloons. To expand the sale of beer, brewers expanded the number of saloons. Saloons proliferated. It was not uncommon to find one saloon for every 150 or 200 Americans, including those who did not drink. Hard-pressed to earn profits, saloonkeepers sometimes introduced vices such as gambling and prostitution into their establishments in an attempt to earn profits. Many Americans considered saloons offensive, noxious institutions.

The prohibition leaders believed that once license to do business was removed from the liquor traffic, the churches and reform organizations would enjoy an opportunity to persuade Americans to give up drink. This opportunity would occur unchallenged by the drink businesses ("the liquor traffic") in whose interests it was to urge more Americans to drink, and to drink more beverage alcohol. The blight of saloons would disappear from the landscape, and saloonkeepers no longer allowed to encourage people, including children, to drink beverage alcohol.

Some prohibition leaders looked forward to an educational campaign that would greatly expand once the drink businesses became illegal, and would eventually, in about thirty years, lead to a sober nation. Other prohibition leaders looked forward to vigorous enforcement of prohibition in order to eliminate supplies of beverage alcohol. After 1920, neither group of leaders was especially successful.

The educators never received the support for the campaign that they dreamed about; and the law enforcers were never able to persuade government officials to mount a wholehearted enforcement campaign against illegal suppliers of beverage alcohol.

The best evidence available to historians shows that consumption of beverage alcohol declined dramatically under prohibition. In the early 1920s, consumption of beverage alcohol was about thirty per cent of the pre-prohibition level. Consumption grew somewhat in the last years of prohibition, as illegal supplies of liquor increased and as a new generation of Americans disregarded the law and rejected the attitude of self-sacrifice that was part of the bedrock of the prohibition movement. Nevertheless, it was a long time after repeal before consumption rates rose to their pre-prohibition levels. In that sense, prohibition "worked."

Alcohol should be illegal because it makes people crazy. Numerous people who have drank alcohol have been reported to have learned how to fly jets. Do we want people flying planes to be alcohol drinkers? I didnt think so. Furthermore, studies have shown that 90% of murderers have drank alcohol. This shows a direct correlation between drinking and people's desire to end other's lives. That is how 9/11 happened. Now we cannot afford to have the new world trade tower go down again because that thing was damn expensive. Therefore alcohol should be prohibited.

Edit: also 'murrika

Bill Randle was a census taker for the state of New York back in 1920 and pastor of the local Protestantism Church in rural upstate NY. His father before him was a preacher in Guatemala back in the late 1800's.  In 1900 and up too the 1920's there were many people immigrating to the US and the population was exploding.  Bill knew this because he was taking the census and seen over the years that not only was the population was growing but that also many were non church going families. Bill also took note how ugly the women were and could not figure out why so many ugly girls were getting married and having kids and ugly kids too. Bill also noticed that many were not white bred Anglo Saxon women but, women of color, many of which were coming from Guatemala. Now Bill thought long and hard to figure why there was an increase and began to rule out jobs and money. Bill realized his father was behind this influx of Immigrants to the US ... Completely befuddled by this, Bill went to the local bar and had a few drinks, well one drink lead to another and ole Bill was feeling really good.. Than some good ole boy sat next to Bill and pulled out of his pocket a flask of some Old man Mountain Dew and preceded to have a few shots.   The night went on for many hours and the women in the back of the room started looking better and better....The next day, Bill woke up to a mean and nasty head ache, nude, in bed with a three hundred pound, sweaty, toothless, hairy arm pit Indian speaking woman....Bill was all torn up...jump out of bed and ran home to shower.....as Ole Bill came out of the Fog in that shower realizing what had happened ....He spent the next 9 months lobbing state officials to ban booze forever as it was evil and bad for man to have to go through what he went through....and so from 1920 through 1933 Prohibition of alcohol was enforced.  Bill died in 1934, His Indian wife and three fat ugly half breed kids will remember his contribution and was proud of their fathers contribution.    ;)
Lol I could imagine myself doing that. True story: I once woke up with a fat cherokee chick one summer after 8th grade (15 years old) when I drank a little too much vodka... But where it gets really messed up is when the next night i came back for more... SOBER... For some reason my friend really wanted to come along (like really wanted to ???) So I brought him along and he hid in the closet while I fucked that girl in her room at like 1am.. she moaned and groaned and squealed like a pot-belly pig. Then a noise startled me: the door slammed open. A short skinny cherokee woman yells "ahhhhhhh!" I jump and hike up my pants. For a quick moment theres a very awkward silence, then we notice a thump-thump-thump noise in the closet... She opens the closet the door to see my friend wacking his goddamn weasel! He pulls up his pants now too. She points to the door and yells "Out!" And let me tell you we got out of there yes we did. On the way walking home while smoking a cigarette I looked at him like "dude... you were really doing that." And then he smiled.

because of the catholics, bcuz they hate lutherans and lutherans are known 2 be drunks i mena look at martin luther he was a frucking drunk so that and also i i think the kennedy family had something to do with it like jfk's father which is the reason they had such money with maybe controlling a boot legging underground business or something, the women too trying to be progressive and they did stop the saloon culture where the sole purpose was to get drunk and fuck and a lot of maybe alcoholic dudes beatin up theyre wives but they had speak easys like dime a dozen so it was a failrue anyway but to sum it all

1) Catholics
2) Kennedys
3) Women's rights

but overall it was the dumbest idea ever as we all know the problems it ended up causing but hey have you ever seen the faces of the guys after they got their legal brew??  http://i.imgur.com/WX0Ow.jpg

Alchohol should be prohibited because it causes terrorism and murder. A fact that not many people want to believe is that Osama Bin Laden drank alcohol once in his life, it is clearly what caused him to be so evil. It is also a fact that the bastard George Zimmerman had a beer a couple days before he shot that angelic Trayvon Martin. Is this something that we should have legal in America, A poison that corrupts innocent people and makes them blow up towers and shoot black kids? Absolutely not.

Those who support the drinking of alchohol are also clearly satanic terrorists that blow up towers and kill children.

That is all.

I really can't think of a reason to write about other than the fact I am a heavy drinker and would love to try some legit moonshine.  I have had the store bought SHIT and I can't stand it.  I just want to try the real thing.  But I would have to say that prohibition started because little Suzy's father was pissed that she got drunk and became pregnant with little Billy's child and he happened to be in law enforcement.  After he found out his daughter was pregnant at 12 years old after getting drunk with Billy who was 18 at the time he protested and protested until Retarded Uncle Sam decided to give him his chance and let him run the anti booze brigade.

Oh god going to Radford, VA for college I Strive for some apple pie moonshine mmmmm....

I think that prohibition was probably instilled into America by big business just as the same reason weed is illegal, HEMP. That fucker industrialist whom owned cotton knew that hemp was such a better product he had to get a smear campaign to make it illegal.

The same for Alchohol, although I'm assuming the rival was pharmaceutical, i.e. The big pharmaceutical companies were lobbying for alchohol to be illegal so they can give you their medicine. And look what happened below, not only did they fuck themselves by making people want alcohol more, then started to become organized:

"Not only did the number of serious crimes increase, but crime became organized. Criminal groups organize around the steady source of income provided by laws against victimless crimes such as consuming alcohol or drugs, gambling and prostitution. In the process of providing goods and services those criminal organizations resort to real crimes in defense of sales territories, brand names, and labor contracts. That is true of extensive crime syndicates (the Mafia) as well as street gangs, a criminal element that first surfaced during prohibition."

Once upon a time there were a select few rich people who repressed the working class to stay rich and also increase their riches, they did as they liked because they were rich. Times changed it was in their best interest (more money) to abolish the repression, they made more money.
The End.

No idea about any of the true story/facts behind it im just throwing that out there cos it feels right ! ;)

Arrived today, fast shipping and great stealth. I love the flask, and the moonshine is great as well. It's got a nice smooth taste with a slight burn, very good for a 50%. This is definitely my go-to guy for anything alcohol-related. Works really well with fruity drinks as well.

Drank the 8oz flask for my birthday. Im really thankful because it perked up an awful day and it got rid of the headache I had from the beating 2 days ago.

By far the best drink youll get for the price. 8 ounces gave a strong buzz that lasted all day. It tastes great in shots, yet if you mix it with anything it completely absorbs the taste without much of a bite (compared to jack daniels, no bite). They only thing I can really compare it to is a more potent version of grey goose when you mix it, but alone it tastes a bit different than that. I really enjoyed it. If your a liquor person, definitely buy this. If your a poor motherfucker, you can always get your alcohol buy buying 3 edge beers for $3.25 at the gas station.

Thanks a lot for the flask, man. really. Just know that you helped out a guy whos been having a really shitty life. Even killed the pain from my recent beating.

I personally believe that prohibition exists for some of the same reasons that marijuana is still illegal. We still see alcohol is illegal to purchase for those under 21. What is this but some inane arbitrary number? You are 21 so that means alcohol is less harmful? I think that government operates on rules on a more rules is better policy. I see this as a potential struggle for adoption of bitcoin in the future.
