Title: DECRYPTION HELP
Post by: famguypeter on January 01, 2012, 05:40 pm
I'm kinda of new and I have had no issues sending encrypted messages, but I recently had to decrypt for the first time and I'm having issues. regardless of whether I import the message from a text file or paste it into the gpg clipboard. I keep getting a message stating "the file contains no valid encrypted data." I imported the other person's key already and have sent them encrypted messages successfully. I ran some searches on the error message and didnt find anything helpful. Please help me out guys. Thanks

Not sure if you're talking about decrypting messages you sent or messages you received. So I'll answer this two ways: You can encrypt messages to other people if you have their public key.  But you can't decrypt them -- that would require you to have their private key.  Yeah, it's frustrating if you want to re-read the encrypted message you just sent someone.

If you can't decrypt a message sent to you from someone else (and intended for you) then the sender may have used the wrong public key to send you a message.
