I went looking for ways to tell if there could be a key logger on my PC as part of my PC security review with no clear results. Can anyone make a recommendation? I use MalwareBytes but I'm not sure if it would show up. I've also used SUPERAnitSpyware. Neither really goes into thatr area in the docs.

Just reformat your hard drive mate, better safe than sorry.

Thanks Limitless, that would certainly eliminate any possibilities for now but I can't do that every time. Are there no utilities for this, or can anyone confirm whether any of the better maleware apps catches key-loggers?

tdsskiller
avast ASWmbr
avast boottime scan
combofix
eset online scanner
Also, rebuild your MBR if you're worried you have been compromised by malware.

Agree with v01d about combofix, this little (single-executable) tool will remove nearly every piece of shit where the rest fails :-)
Also, as far as keyloggers go, make sure to have a good firewall with tight policies. Keyloggers will need a way to send the gathered data to the exploiter, which is commonly through SMTP (port 25 TCP). Even if your virus scanner fails, if the keylogger can't get the data "out", you're safe regarding password theft.

I usually use malwarebytes/avg to scan. Zone alarm usually warns me when things are trying to contact the outside world too. It is usually a good early warning that I've been infected

Add Keyscrambler to your lineup.

Try RootkitRevealer. You can find it on Microsoft's Sysinternals site. It's one tool, not a complete solution. It's helpful in that it can detect kernel mode malware.
