Title: USPS Express Miss Sent
Post by: whichway on May 01, 2012, 11:11 pm
What does the USPS do if a package is miss sent?

I had a package with a large amount of bud inside not show up. The dude who sent it is legit and packs his product very well so I have a hard time believing it could have been pinched.

It was sent express/overnight and 2 days later when it didn't arrive I tracked it to find that USPS has said it has been miss sent. It has now been 7 days and still has not showed up. Tracking is still the same too, just says that is was miss sent and that they are doing everything they can to bring it to me..

Should I just cross my fingers and hope this thing shows? I'm stuck answering all these questions myself because I can't even get a hold of my supplier..

I've had a couple of packages get missent but they always seem to find their way to the buyer. Hopefully it gets their but if the vendor made a mistake on the address that they can't correct then it'll just go back to the fake return address or in other words, be lost forever.

Well your response is reassuring to say the least.

I just don't understand how overnight turns into the longest shipping time Ive ever experienced with the USPS.

Heh, I've had this with all the express shipments it seems. 90%+ of them go mis-sent but eventually actually show up. Priority is better.

90% of Express mail gets miss-sent?? I don't think so there Edgar.  LOL!  While its not unusual for an Express pack to get miss-sent it doesn't happen very often.  It means the package got processed out  to the wrong zip code(PO sorting error)  It will have to arrive and be processed in at the incorrect location before it's discovered to have been sent to the wrong place.  The pkg will then be processed out again to the correct address(hopefully).  Theoretically it should arrive the following day but it never seems to happen that way.  You can follow the pkg progress via tracking.

PS.  You might want to consider NOT getting weed sent via Express.  Right now especially,  Express mail is getting looked at harder than ever before for contraband.  If you follow recent drugs-in-the-mail busts most have been Express so Postal Police are on the lookout.

I'm starting to lose hope because this 1 day ordeal has turned into 7 already and I don't think they offer a service that slow?

The way I look at it, you might as well use a high priority service for bulk packs. It goes through less hands and there are less screw ups. Rides the some trucks and flys on the same planes as the priority. So it would get the same way by the same people am I correct? Just less hands it travels through and faster shipping.

I agree with you it doesn't matter, it'll go through the same checks as the other mail and if your supplier is smart he'll beat these checks no problem. Have you asked them for some type of compensation? I'm sure if he checks the DCN it'll say missent.

Why is it there are so many people here trying to speak authoritatively on subjects they clearly know nothing about?

Believe whatever fairy tales you like but for those who want to get real....  It absolutely DOES matter.  Express and Priority are not even REMOTELY handled the same way nor are they dealt with by Postal Inspectors as one big pile of mail.

Delta11 reminds me of several others I have known who also thought they were too smart and clever to ever get caught.  It's a shame they can't be here on Silk Road breaking it down for all you clueless noobs but the US Federal Bureau of Prisons doesn't allow them Internet access.

Well do you care to enlighten us on the matter? What do they do different to the 2?

Wrong. What makes you think that Express goes through "less hands" than Priority or first class?

Express mail is the only class that postal inspectors bother to look at, besides media mail. They keep those Express slips with the multiple copies that you attach to the front of Express mail forever, and look through them for patterns routinely.

Can you explain the process better than? I'll admit that I'm a bit ignorant when it comes to express mail as I never use it nor intend to use it but regardless of the checks it goes through from personal experience express mail has always made it through no problem. I feel like if you double vac seal and take extra precautions to disguise your product it'll make it through just fine and always has for me every time.

Thats a little scary thinking that they look through slips for patterns :-\
