I've recently bought a new hard drive to replace my old crap one. So ill be doing a reformatting of everything.
Is there anything I need to do to back up my BTC wallet?
I'm guessing the BTC wallet is held client side rather than server side, so im worried if i do a reformat without proper backup, ill lose all my BTC.

you will indeed lose it if you do not do it right... Give me a moment and I'll get you a link that will help.

So i've recently decided to up the security by using tails instead of windows.
How do I restore my BTC wallet in tails?
I have absolutely 0 linux experience

BTW how is it even possible, that when i log into SR through tails, on a different computer from where i normally log into SR, my BTC still shows up? Shouldnt my coins only appear when i log in from the computer where my wallet.dat file is being held?
Really confused here

Your bitcoins that you see in your SR account are in a separate SR-located wallet. So wiping a hard drive or logging in through any OS doesn't matter. They'll still remain in your SR wallet unless you withdraw/spend them.

Is this safe and secure?
Are there better options?

Is it safe to store btc on SR? That opinion varies, I just transfer btc to SR when I want spend it.
The best and safest option is storing your btc on your own computer on a encrypted partition.
