Title: Password Security
Post by: OysterCult on December 10, 2012, 06:14 pm
I figure it is safe to use generated passwords with as many special characters, etc as possible for SR, these forums, Tormail, etc. How do you all keep track of them? Do they need to be encrypted somehow? Any help would be great, thanks.

i just used one long ass password with random letters, numbers and the occasional capslock.

after several times youll memorise it anyway. anything above 10 digits and to hack if its random is extremely low...

come up with a sentence you'll remember:
"the pony ate the chicken"
switch out letters with numbers
"th3 p0ny 4t3 th3 ch1ck3n"
insert random symbols in space marks
"th3#p0ny%4t3?th3$ch1ck3n"
insert random caps lock
"Th3#p0Ny%4T3?tH3$cH1Ck3n"

I use this tool:

and store my passwords in a text file inside a TrueCrypt volume.
