Hi, I was just wondering if it is safe or the worst thing I could possibly do... I was wondering while I am using SR can I open Internet Explorer and read msn.com or some other site while SR is still on in the background??? or would by doing this ruin my anonymity and show that I am on SR and screw myself and showing the world I'm on a site looking at educational material ;)
Thanks for any info on this,
Peace,
AC

your ie traffic will not be being routed through tor, no need to worry.

Correct, only the firefox with "TorBrowser" in the top corner is 'hidden' so with that in mind, as you mentioned using an alternative (perhaps even an inferior browser) is a very good idea to not get confused with the normal firefox browser that is not on Tor.
You might consider trying Google Chrome rather an IE though.
