Title: Something about security
Post by: greasyspoons22 on March 31, 2013, 06:42 pm
Just a thread on security ...

When I stumbled across Tor .. I started using Janus as a way being anonymous.  It wasn't that I did some reading
that I found out that Janus code base dates back to 2010 and as such is using a 3 year old codebase of Tor.

I did some digging.  Tails came up.  Then something called TorBox came up - but found it was later renamed Whonix.

I use Whonix.  So far my only annoyance with it is I can't cut/copy/paste between the host and guest VM's.
A minor annoyance.  It appears to work ... IP address bogus etc.

What's everyone else's preference ?

Discuss.

I am a big fan of Whonix, it gets the job done.
I would definitely recommend it for anyone looking for the additional security.

Agreed and very easy to setup.  Although my other complaint with it is that the app Kpgp that comes with it .. that allows me import my  PGP key, encrypt and decrypt  stuff .. . Kpgp fails to load.  Click on it .. it bounces for awhile .. then stops.

Because copy/pasting doesn't work .. if I need to copy some text over from host/vm .. gotta email it!

Small price to pay for privacy though.
