The Silk Road marketplace was changed from read-only anonymous access to compulsory login. Would it be wise to also lock down the forums in the same way. Being able to browse anonymously without logging in means the site can be easily scraped.

Regardless of login or not, it is easy to scrape the forum so really no point to it.

But can be logged and tracked if someone is logged in. If some random user is going through the site page by page, they can be kicked, if its a trusted member, then we have issues to deal with.

There are many software programs that can scrape forums quite easily and it doesn't matter if it's an open or closed forum, it can still be infiltrated. Look after your own security and you will be fine :)

Tracking and logging user activity is a horrible idea.
It is always best to assume that anything you post anywhere in this scene will be looked at and logged by law enforcement. If you are not comfortable with that you might be in the wrong place.
Stay safe.

Ok you all appear to be focussing on the wrong point so I will re-phrase the question.
Why is it that I can browse the forums without logging in, but cannot browse the market place without logging in?
-
Because that's the way it is. :)

If you can't be helpful, fuck off please. (Note my use of manners because you're new)
