From what I understand, I need to put an order through BitInstant, go to CVS or Walmart and buy a moneygram and send it off, then that will be put into my blockchain wallet, which will finally be in bitcoins. Is that accurate or am I missing a step? Where does Mt.gox fit into all of this?

Nope, you got it right. Your bitcoins are sent to the wallet address or email you provided and from there you can send them to SR. Mt.gox is irrelevant.

To help out newbs, I wrote up a simple recipe for ANONYMOUSLY buying bitcoins using cash, and transferring to the Road:

The guide is designed for buyers, not vendors, and it assumes no previous knowledge or computer skill.

The bitcoin scene changes frequently. By putting this info in a listing, I can update it in one place rather than in many forum posts.

Don't worry about MtGox. MtGox is just an exchange in case you wanted to choose your entry price yourself. Buy straight from BitInstant to your bitcoin address. Unless of course you are looking to actively trade your Bitcoin like a stock. If that is the case, then you would want to go to MtGox.
