I'm fairly new the BTC/SR world, so just bear with me please if I seem novice.
I hear all these tips on going from Dwolla to MtGox to Instawallet etc etc etc. Is it acceptable to simply use a service like get-bitcoin.com and send the BTC straight to your instawallet and on to SilkRoad?
Thanks.

Yes it is a good way for beginners to obtain coin. Its also faster than transactions through dwolla
The only thing is you can end up paying more for your coins because they give you coins at the rate that seems to be the highest reached each day, and this is on top of their fees.
You can also use bitinstant to fund mtgox which is very fast (coins within a hour, rather than a day to weeks), can also use cash, and then you can buy the bitcions for their actual market value. Ends up being about 5% fee for cash deposit. Mtgox is really easy to figure out, dont let that intimidate you. All you gotta plug in is the amount to spend and you get coins

This is good news! I was planning on using prepaid debit cards mostly to purchase coin. Buy the coin when it's low and use it as quick as possible. I don't plan on ever spending large sums of money, $25 orders at most.
