Title: Virtual Machine OS Ubuntu -- Slax -- xpud -- tails ?
Post by: phubaiblues on June 24, 2011, 08:09 am
I"ve got a speedy enough machine, most of the time, but it's slowed down sometimes on Tor to where it seems I"m on dialup again.  Now, on transaction: no problem, worth the wait.  But when I'm just yacking on forums, and reading msgs, I hate the wait.

I've got virtualbox with the above 3 distros on them, and it seems Slax works best, so far...quick enough.  Now I've also used chrome, and found out it is way faster than FF, when I'm waiting on sites to load on Tor, and I was wondering, if I isolate my VM, the way it's been explained here, and have my Tor set up on the host machine, porting the linux VM back to main, wouldn't it then be just as safe to use Chrome as FF, even if I don't have the button: the isolating is done by the VM, so it wouldn't really matter, at this point, which browser I use.  Once I set the Chrome proxys correct, it hops right on Tor, no problem...anybody else like Slax?  sure is a lot easer and quicker to install than ubuntu with all it's bagage I'll never use.  Xpud is trickier: some things I do want to save...and finally, there is Tails, if yer not doing a VM, Tails is pretty cool, but it totally disappears when you're thru, so it's a ram only setup, IMO.

Customize Chrome to do everything the Tor button does. Problem solved.
