According to open source reporting as of June 2011, an online marketplace called Silk Road was selling illegal drugs and only accepted payment through Bitcoin. Silk Road allowed parties to communicate anonymously for the purchase and sale of illegal goods, to include the purchase of illegal narcotics, in addition to using Bitcoin. Customers could also leave feedback about their purchase experience in a system similar to other online sellers.

They know!!!

Oh wait...who cares? ???

But the FBI helpfully lists several ways that Bitcoin users can protect their anonymity.

•Create and use a new Bitcoin address for each incoming payment.
•Route all Bitcoin traffic through an anonymizer.
•Combine the balance of old Bitcoin addresses into a new address to make new payments.
•Use a specialized money laundering service.
•Use a third-party eWallet service to consolidate addresses. Some third-party services offer the option of creating an eWallet that allows users to consolidate many bitcoin address and store and easily access their bitcoins from any device.
•Individuals can create Bitcoin clients to seamlessly increase anonymity (such as allowing user to choose which Bitcoin addresses to make payments from), making it easier for non-technically savvy users to anonymize their Bitcoin transactions.

Sounds like they have been taking lessons from SR on the proper way to use the bc. Thank you SR for setting the standard!

Good looking opi  :D i for one am stocking enough drugs for a year just in case something fishy happens. i have saved about 200 super dosed ecstasy pills, 3gs of premium h, and 10gs of ketamine. these are the drugs that i can never find on the street. i have been paranoid, so i spend most of my extra money from my paycheck, and all of the money from selling my suboxone perscription. in a couple months i will have enough stock to chill for a while  :P

No one is questioning the legitimacy of this report?

It's just assumed to be a real report because someone posted it on a message board?

Some of the people here are pretty gullible.

It's a news story, not just a post on a forum, so it must be true! Gizmodo and Wired would never post anything not factual!

For anyone who doesn't want to read through any of it, this is my favorite part:

I think this was posted a few days ago by kmfkewm.  http://dkn255hz262ypmii.onion/index.php?topic=22279.  This version is clearer and easier to read though so thanks!
