No, you are wrong. It is the way all forums work. Every forum I know of assign rank according to post number. Just the way it works. This forum no different.

Forums and market should definitely stay separate.

It's a forum, why should transactions on the silk road change your credibility say if you never make a post.. or have more than one account.

It may help with the rating system? I don't know.

The downside to having them together is that any personally identifying information gleaned from the forum can be used to track people. It's easier than you would think.

The upside is there would be a slight uptick in accountability / control. But that comes at the price of some anonymity.
