I just have a question.....is it really over ฿23.29 to start selling? i only have a few things to sell and that seems pretty expensive...anyway doesnt yall at SR make something off each sale? ty
???

They do make a small commission, but the vendor fee is also there to protect buyers from scammers. You can sell for free on black market reloaded. What are you looking to sell? I could help move it for you.

thank you... that makes sense......not sure if i want to quite yet if i do i will get ahold of u moonbear

I have 1 more question is there anyway to see my own rating or feedback or whatever for a customer?

They make a lot from commission. The point in the fee is only to prevent scamming, not to make profit.
-
They sure do make their fair share with it but thats cool.
-
SR certainly earns it and deserve whatever commission they make.

I'm not sure if they deserve it as much as many problems as this site has...

...What? I wasn't aware of a ton of problems on the site. I do think they deserve it, and apparently so does anyone who's bought a seller account.
-
They make a lot of money, but they're taking ginormous risks with this enterprise, so I can appreciate that.

Listings are free once you've purchased your vending account :)
Anyone thinking the costs of vending are high here should try vending somewhere on the clearnet. monthly fees, listing fees, picture fees etc on top of high commission fees, compared to them SR is a bargain for vendors :)
-
Yeah, i 100% agree put the price of vendor accounts up to $500 no fucking problem keep the little dickheads out.
-
When I was vending spores on clear net it was $20 a month for the web site, $200 a month for the advertising on 1 web site, the CC processor took 6.5% of the sale + $2.35 for each order, Then there was the phone line, as well as other overhead. To add insult to injury, the government took 30% of everything I made in taxes.
When I saw the $150 for the account here I thought to my self, $150 a month is not bad I may be able to make that and it is worth a shot. Then I saw it was a $150 one time fee and the small % of the sale not a monthly fee and I was ready to set it up.
These threads come up regularly, $150 is nothing! If you can not come up with the $150 you need for the account, then you should not be selling on here! The cost is nothing in the grand scheme of things.
So, I guess my response is put up or shut up! Bitching will not make the price go down.

Thank you and for all replies, i know old thread but from using search.
$150 to start is nothing and free listings the commission is nothing if you selling weight you can make that back in a couple days
as a new vendor you cant ask for FE under 35 transactions no? if you do a sample listing forum thread offering samples of product can you make them 1BTC and tell people if they dont FE there sample order gets cancelled?
To start you need $150, vac sealers, gloves, packaging, postage and that is not free, I be happy to do samples if people pay 1BTC for sample and then know they will review product properly not just take new sample and run for free, fair would this be?
New vendors can't ask for FE under any circumstances, not even for samples.
It's never a good idea to offer free samples on the forum, much better to make your first offerings cheap or with added extras, people will buy and if your product is good you'll get good feedback.
I'm a small vendor but I spent almost £250 on postage before my first orders finalized, I was eating baked beans for 2 days :)

The fee is completely necessary. It isn't much money when you are selling a lot.

That's why DPR is so rich ;)

$150 is nothing to weed out scammers
I like to know if that is all a new vendor need to start listing or need extra BTC in account to pay for listings or are listings free and then commission charged only once sold?
I strongly recommend that you read the sellers guide created by Silk Road. Some of the questions asked in this thread are answered within the guide.

You may support charging $500 for seller accounts but that doesnt mean it will do anything to deter scammers. The poor scammers are poor because they are bad scammers so they arnt much of a threat anyway. But the good scammers will never have a shortage of cash therefore a high account fee will not deter them in anyway.
