Title: Tips
Post by: pterodactyl on July 21, 2012, 02:20 pm
Perhaps in with the order page there could be another box where a customer could enter an amount to "tip" vendors as you would with a server in a restaurant or many other jobs? Obviously not everyone would be able to or want to but it would be an extra thanks for the quality of service now and then.

I kind of like this idea. Sure there is a way for people to send vendors a tip already, but most people are lazy. If there was a simple tip button available to people while they were leaving feedback I feel people might use it.

You can forward your idea to the 'feature requests' section. I think thats a great idea.

What section is this currently posted in? I thought it already was the request section.

So now that more then one person thinks my little tip button idea is good, how do we make it known to the people that make those kinds of changes?

Well.. you could take it up to one of the mods or admin. I think they browse over topics like this in the section time to time.

Any mods care to share their thoughts on tipping and possibly a tip button?

You don't really need a Tip button..
you can send coins to another user from your 'account' page.

You are correct. You can just send people money. We covered that earlier. I honestly think it probably does not cross a lot of buyers minds to tip in the first place. If there was a button for this though they may think about it and actually use it. My whole thing is if it is easier for people to do then there is a better chance of them doing it.

You've hit the nail on the head. Label the mechanisms purpose, make things easy for people and it will happen a lot more.

Here's a social experiment for you:

1) Pick a restaurant and visit two nights sequentially.

2) Tip whoever serves you by slipping the cash into their pocket, or by telling them they dropped the money. However you do it, ensure that they do not know they have received a tip.

3) On the second night, give them the tip proper.

4) Compare the reactions from 2 & 3 and guess which provokes the more powerful reaction in the recipient

Note that this is only really valid if your intention is to provide recognition of the value that person has delivered. If your intention was SOLELY to make yourself look good as a carrier and bestower of wealth, then this fails.

Money is a way of expressing gratitude or recognition of value of what has been given in products or service. It is a symbol and mechanism of exchange, albeit one that creates a lot of options for the possessor.

All in my opinion of course. And like arseholes, every one has one.
