Title: Chemistry MDA question
Post by: Windex on November 09, 2011, 06:54 pm
While trying to apply what I've been learning in my organic chemistry class to real life, I came across this article... http://y47ylcppnh3afqk4.onion/rhodium/chemistry/mda.dalcason.html on rhodium about MDA analogs. Of particular interest to me was the first sentence in the ring substitution part: "Addition of one methoxy group (R7 = OCH3, R8 = R9 = H) in either ortho ring position (2-methoxy or 6-methoxy) greatly increases the hallucinogenic activity of MDA"  From what I understand this is an addition of OCH3 on the benzene ring.  I'm not too advanced in OChem so I'm wondering if this is possible?

It's quite possible. And they have both been made and tested. The 2-methoxy was named MMDA-3a by Shulgin and is a psychedelic listed active at 20-80 mg.  (outside tor link) http://www.erowid.org/library/books_online/pihkal/pihkal134.shtml
The 6-methoxy was named MMDA-2 (2-methoxy-4,5-MDA = 6-methoxy-3,4-MDA by a different convention) and is active at 25-50 mg. (outside tor link) http://www.erowid.org/library/books_online/pihkal/pihkal133.shtml

They are both virtually unheard of on the market. So you better be a chemist or find one willing to synth it.

you there, you seem to be lost, your thinking this is a chemistry forum?

we just eat the drugs here

thats a shame to hear, it doesnt hurt to learn a bit about the stuff youre taking does it? personally i read up a hell of a lot on any drug i plan to take right down to the chemistry, in fact i wouldnt be averse to seeing a chemistry section in the forums as we have some very knowledgeable people here (like the above mentioned dopeboy) who could help some of us armchair biochemists out and help people understand a bit about how the stuff their taking does what it does, and what could be potential drugs of the future like the ones mentioned in this post
