Title: SR BTC Wallet concerns
Post by: nobodyenduser on September 25, 2013, 09:14 pm
How long is it safe to keep your btc in your SR wallet? A couple weeks?, days? or just long enough to make a transaction?

Do you have only one static btc address or does it change when you change your pin or can you request a new address?

Yes, you can "get new address".

How long you want to leave it in SR is up to you... just make sure aren't an idiot and get phished.

I typically only load enough btc on my account for each transaction at a time. Currently I have $3 left over from my last one though. I don't think you should have a problem if you leave it for too long though.

I'm pretty sure i have that not being an idiot part covered, though you never know lol!  When i worked telephone PC desktop support whenever a customer was an idiot (which was all the time) We would tell them they are having a (Eye-Dee-Ten-Tee) error or ID10T which roughly translate to idiot.

A good way of calling someone an idiot without them knowing.

The problem with leaving it is A) you can get phished or B) the price of btc drops and you loose money

You have one address until you change it but if you had read the buyers guide and wiki you would know this and that its recommended to change the address (i do every month or so)

To give a positive story, I left some in my account for like a year or so once, and the exchange rate jumped so I made a few hundred dollars! Holding BTC anywhere is a game of luck/stock trading. After the crash earlier this year I wouldn't hold onto much unless I kept an eye on the charts and in the news. Leaving them on SR is fairly 'safe' though, but leave a backup address for them to be sent in case shit goes down (it's in the settings somewhere).
