Title: Remove Karma feature from Off Topic posts?
Post by: Gary Oak on April 05, 2012, 10:32 am
This is just a simple request, how about we remove the Karma system from being used in the Off Topic forum? It really doesn't seem fair to be judged in the section specifically designated for Off Topic discussion. I've seen this implemented in several other forums that have a karma system to prevent prejudiced members from simply giving out positive or negative karma based on posts entirely unrelated to the site. In my opinion (which apparently get's me negative Karma ;)), disabling Off Topic Karma would help the Karma System stay accurate.

I think you're idea makes sense, but how hard is it for the person to find another post of yours in another forum and -1 there?

It would really only be viable for someone who ONLY posts in Off Topic.

I've a better one: REMOVE THAT SHIT FOR GOOD!

That shit is somewhat ok for a CS fans forum or some piece of junk place, for Marketplaces: NO!
I still remember the havoc a similar system created at bitcointalk.org with people being taken as scammers based on negatives taken from off-topic discussions: means taken as scammer on BUSINESS because of OPINIONS, that's bullshit.
Eventually people started to play with it and they remove.
