Title: Other Uses of Tor
Post by: james23456 on August 21, 2013, 09:58 pm
Apart from SR, I'm wondering what other uses, if any, people use the darkweb for?

I'm aware that a large proportion of the dark web got shut down, due to many of the sites being part of Freedom Hosting, so there isn't that much left of it.

Tor was created just so you could buy drugs.

Dude, come on! there are thousands of other uses. Most of them are so people who dont have access to the internet like you and me do can access information their government doesnt want them to see

Jus knowing how to use tor might save your arse one day if it gets as bad as china is with censorship in your country. Peoples lives depend on tor in other countries. Its totally obvious in the UK and prob the US they are trying to clamp down on the internet and free speech in general. Tor is a great tool whether you want to buy drugs or bypass restrictions in your country.

At least buying drugs will teach you how to navigate SR and tor in general, use encryption and get high as a mutherfucker!!

Cheers guys

Some businesses in the U.S. say they use it to do R & D so they can not be tracked... The use of Tor is as limited as you make it...

The general usefulness of Tor is limited by its speed, which can be slower than 1990's dial-up.

Whistleblowing, googling things that you don't want the Government to see.
Researching drugs, for example. Lots of things.
