Title: Encrypting hard drive?
Post by: qrbr6 on December 02, 2012, 12:44 pm
I am a relative n00b when it comes to computer security. I am going to reformat my computer in the next month because it was been slowing down and I was wondering if it was worth encrypting my hard drive as an extra security measure? What does encryption do exactly? Do I have to enter a password each time I turn my computer on?

If my computer is ever seized will reformatting it erase all data?

Just do a search on the forum as this topic has been covered numerous times and in depth. You could start with typing Truecrypt in the search box. :)

Encryption will make the harddrive unreadable with out the password. go to truecrypts website, and read up the tutorials.
