Are you copying the keys in their entirety?  Including "-----BEGIN PGP PUBLIC KEY BLOCK-----" and "-----END PGP PUBLIC KEY BLOCK-----"?

Have you tried importing through different methods?... Using the editor window and saving the key as a txt then importing by file?

Maybe try closing the program and reopening it?

there's also an issue with the key copying sometimes, and showing up with double line space feeds - copy it to gedit first, after pasting it there to make sure it's still single line feed, then copy to gpg4usb

removing the double space line feeds manually doesn't correct the issue, apparently there;s some sort of html code that pops in as well

There are many different versions of PGP--they are not created equally, nor are they all compatible. The version that you're using offers good security (up to 4,096-bit encryption), a user-friendly interface, and is fairly standard on Silk Road. If you're seeing this error, it's because the key was generated by a PGP program that is probably Java-based Bouncy Castle bullshit--it can be cracked without much effort.

If you install Portable PGP, you should be able to add the member/vendor to your keyring and encrypt a message.

 Visit http://ppgp.sourceforge.net/ for download.

This is a quick fix--it will be compatible--but it's not nearly as secure as what you're using. Try to convince the vendor to upgrade their security.

Once you've installed the program, to use Portable PGP, copy the vendor's public key into a .txt file and save it. When you open the program, you can import contacts from .txt files on your computer. Once a vendor's address has been added to your keyring, you can direct a specific message (such as your mailing address) to him/her. There is an "encrypt" tab, which provides you with a blank text box. Write your address or message, select your recipient(s), click "encrypt," and it will open a separate window with your PGP message. Copy this string of gibberish into the SR mailing form.
