I think this small change would cause a significant change in reduction of scammers. Don't allow forum registrations, your forum ID is the same as your Silk Road login ID. The user's main site profile should link to their forum profile, as well as show their posts and postcount.
Also, require a minimum number of posts before the user can have a seller account. This way the user will have to build up a forum rep before he can sell. You can usually tell if a person is legit just by the way he posts.

This would probably be a bad idea from a security perspective. The forum and the main site are separate tor hidden services, and theoretically (and ideally) may even be run on separate servers. Allowing the two to interface with one another would increase the risk that compromising one would comprise the other, and introduce new attack vectors. It's not worth it.

They used to be like that...after the site went down, it came back up with separate forums. Much better...things go crazy periodically on main site, and we need a totally place to discuss what happens there...if we need anything, we need a way to get newbies on here before they make first purchase....
