Why is the auto-finalize period 17 days?
It seems like a random number they chose.

It makes sense if you think about it.
17 days is enough time for someone who buys a batch of coke to try it, test it in a lab, and post results. If you have doubts about a product you might need a little time to test it. It can't be too long though incase some dumbass forgets to finalize after he decides his product is as described by the vendor.

Not sure but it allows vendor a few days to process then two weeks to come in the post. Although you should have your order in much less time than that and finalise manually (unless international).

17 days is well over the reasonable threshold for mail from a - b no matter where the destination and origin. I would support shortening it by a couple days even.
