Title: using PGP: where is my public key?
Post by: shermanhex4sun on August 14, 2013, 02:29 pm
If i could get an answer on this i would be grateful:

I created a key using the encryption program that comes installed with tails(latest version). when not using tor i have an encryption program whereby when i create a key it lists both a public and private part.

when i created my key on tails-- all i see when i look on the key properties/type is "private pgp key"

why is there no public part? can i send out this key to other people? i'm confussed:(

In tails you highlight your pgp username and then find the export option button. It'll bring up a file to save. It'll be in .asc format by default, just erase the .asc part and save to desktop. Open it in gedit and you'll have your public key.
