Before you send money to this merchant, let's get to know each other a little better.

Due to the nature of the recipient's account, Dwolla and this merchant politely ask you that you meet and/or maintain the following requirements. We'll check them off as you complete them.
1. Get friendly, establish a 30 day transaction history Requirement complete This merchant account requires you to have at least one bank-funded deposit into your Dwolla account that is older than 30 days. Link your bank and make a deposit today!
2. Get connected, link a social network Connecting your social networks allows you to easily send and request money with your Facebook friends, Twitter followers and LinkedIn connections!
3. Get verified, validate your information Requirement complete Verify your Social Security Number.
4. Get savvy, turn on the Hub Page Hub Pages are individualized and shareable URLs that allow you to collect money with Dwolla

Fuck that shit -__- Taking my business elsewhere... might not get to make Tony's 4/20 sale... FUCK!@!%!^@&

Can't you just create a fake Facebook page and link to that? I don't see how that's going to cause any problems. I already went ahead and set mine up so that next time I need to send to Mt. Gox, I can just link to that. Although the 30 day requirement is going to be troublesome for new users that want to get bitcoins fast. It used to be that the wait for your bank account verification took about a week. Now you have to not only wait for that, but also wait the extra 30 days for some arbitrary reason.

True story: Facebook's contract lets their spyders snag your computer info. I'm not risking shit with anything pertaining to dwolla.

As a company Dwolla has too much of a public face, they're positioning themselves to be some new hip way for kids to share money and shop online - not exactly what we're looking for.

That's too bad you've got funds tied up caparino. I feel for you, I've been going nuts trying to get BTCs in time for the sale!

Bitinstant seems to be the way to go in my opinion for those of you buying BTCs through Mt. Gox

Yeah it sucks I'm in the same boat, I wanted to take advantage of tony's 420 sale but all of my coins are tied up in escrow so I tried the good ol' dwolla>mtgox and they told me the same thing so I told them that I meet all the requirements except the facebook account because I don't have a facebook and they told me I would have to link some type of social network account  ::) Well they just lost all of my business those goddamn hipsters.

Can always link up a throw-away LinkedIn account...

Gusman I believe you need to meet all four requirements not just one.

But I am kind of curious why people are sketched out by dwolla all of a sudden, it was always linked to your bank account anyway. If anyone's cashing out via dwolla they're a crappy drug dealer anyway so hopefully this new anti fraud procedure by dwolla makes people trade bitcoins more anonymously.

Agreed   Facebook is no go.   Dwolla can eat it.  BitInstant sounds decent.  I use a different Bank Deposit Service, I think they are screwing me some but its still better than  10% MoneyPaks.  Bank Deposits are almost anonymous. Still gotta walk in and get a receipt, which requires cameras and stares when they see the name of the business I am depositing too.  Ohs well the way I look at it if I get popped Im pointing my finger at the Bank, and im going public because the way I see it the more SR users the more we all win, except for waiting for orders to fill do to volume increase.

Cheers, to an anonymous social network.    I was always trying to get on the spaceship when I was on the playground.  Everyone else was playing sports or some stupid shit.  not me I was looking for a secret entrance to the unknown.  Humming, talking to birds,  looking for buttons on tree stumps, hoping to find the portal to the next world.   First the internet came to me in 94. Now im on Tor.

Grew up watching Pippie Longstocking and other pirate movies, thinking I would be free.   Didnt get my first taste of freedom till a Grateful Dead Concert in 95.

Yeah, since Dwolla is linked to your bank account it doesn't take much effort for you to be fully identified.  Dwolla is probably just bowing to the same demands made of MtGox; i.e, all users must present ID before they can do business.  If you want to make Bitcoin purchases without showing all your ID then you'll just need to pick another Bitcoin seller.

I don't know what you're all talking about with the Facebook thing. Today I did the whole Dwolla verification thing and nothing was like that at all. You have to create a Hub page, which is basically just your Dwolla account, but they do not force you to link with any social networking site whatsoever. Maybe because I've been a customer for a while I get an exception or something? Or you just read it wrong. All you have to do is give your social security number, but you already had your bank account linked to Dwolla, so it's like your identity is suddenly more compromised. The anonymity comes from the Bitcoins that you buy later. As long as you're smart with those, you're all set.

WTF, im new to SL, made my first purchase using dwolla>mtgox, i go to add more money and get this crap!!!! not a happy camper, now i have to wait another 20 days, or find somewhere else, any recommendations?

I can confirm linking to a social media network is no longer a requirement.  When I attempted the transfer the other day, there were a list of 4 things I had to do.   I said screw it, because I flat out refuse to provide that sort of personal info for a financial transaction.   I returned today and there are now only 3 requirements (ssn, hub page, 30 day deposit).  The facebook/linked in/twitter requirement is gone.

Still don't like it, but whatever.   >:(

BitInstant is pretty awesome

I don't understand this Bitinstant thing. Isn't Dwolla to Mt. Gox using Bitinstant anyways? What is the best option available to you on Bitinstant, and what is the rate you have to pay? Dwolla is only 0.25 which is ridiculously cheap.

Yep, that's the end of Dwolla. Was convenient while it lasted.

Yeah, this is pretty much my sentiment. I was cashing it in, waiting five days for it to clear with Dwolla, then within 30 minutes I would have transferred into, a wallet, Mt.Gox, and then SR. Now they want all this extra info. I needed it for legit merchant situations because I do a bit of business online. As for my deep web dealings...

NO CAN DO. I have not tried out bitinstant yet, but went with campbx.com because they take mailed in deposits. That way, I do mail in deposit, bitcoin wallet, then SR.

Done and done.

No offense to Dwolla, but F*CK DWOLLA for this untimely give me all your info bullsh!t!

You can still trade with legit people on bitcointalk.org and #bitcoin-otc Dwolla who won't ask you for information and who's accounts haven't been flagged by Dwolla to do all that facebook and 30 day hold bullshit.

There are more places to buy bitcoins than here and gox/bitinstant.

I would like to know if there is another way similar to bitinstant that I can use. I am 45 minutes away from a bank that I can deposit at. I was thinking about just trying get-bitcoin and doing the prepaid cards. Please let me know your ideas seeing as dwolla sucks now.

Yeah, I ran into that "Hey, what's your SSN and photo ID look like?" shit on Thursday. I had to manually find a buyer for coins, which normally isn't too bad. The overhead is a little much, but it's safer, since day traders take Dwolla. I'll still use Dwolla for that, but I guess I won't be doing business with Mt. Gox.

SIGH

Go to bitcointalk.org
Bitcoin Forum > Economy > Marketplace > Currency exchange >

Search for Dwolla and Moneypak listings.
Here's one: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=64805.0
He does MP->>BTC too. PM him and ask, or contact him on #bitcoin-otc

BitFloor still works, you can use them for Dwolla without the bullshit 30day wait
https://bitfloor.com/

Won't last long. Eventually some scammer will ruin it so get your coins at Bitfloor while it lasts or do p2p trade
