Title: Views on removing vendor's rating system
Post by: Leech on April 08, 2012, 01:29 am
My personal view on the rating system for purchasing on products.

There has been several top vendors leaving us because of the inaccurate rating system. For example, buyers giving 3/5, when they did not receive the products from early finalization, or some issues, without even first sending a vendor PM.

I propose the rating beside the vendors' names (ie. 97, 98, 100) be removed, and the calculation of (ie.) "96.7% positive feedback" be removed. But the % top ranking system remains.

Why? Because after removal, buyers will remember to provide accurate updates to feedback of the products received and it will abolish all unreasonable rating. There are too many "FE, finalizing early" feedback around, and the rating system is inaccurate to determine legitimacy. Top sellers are affected, why? Because top sellers do not have a "100" beside their names and mid-rankers can still have 100. This is inaccurate in relative to the ranking system and encourage many scams. And when a vendor has a complain of a scam, the SR team should review and pull the vendor to bottom ranking. This will remove all confusion between the 100/100 rating, the inaccurate % positive feedback ranking, and the top ranking.

Thus I propose SR remove the 100/100 rating beside vendors' names and "X% positive feedback" but the ranking percentage remains. So buyers now see by the top ranking rather than the feedback ranking. And buyers will provide more valid feedback reviews.

This is sort of how imdb works.
They throw out the 100/100 and lowest ratings, then calculate an average with the middle ratings.

I also like how on Exchangezone.com you can respond to negative ratings to explain what happened. Typically they didn't trust the buyer and cancelled or something banal they didn't run away with money.

This seems like a good idea.
I realized pretty early on that vendors with a 95-98 were usually better (not always) than those with a 100. A big problem (as previously stated) is that a lot of people simply forgo examining the product and posting a detailed review, instead they just post "FE from reputable vendor 5/5". The point of the rating system should be to know the quality of product and how well packaged etc. not to be used as advertisement... That's what the forums are for.  ;)

I know a vendor leaving because buyers are asking for track & trace on 10grams and leaving bad rep because they fucked up and didn't put their country and now they blame the vendor for this and give a bad rep 3/5
