Right; I’ve been trying to access SR for the last 4 or 5 days now with no luck. The connection seemed to keep timing out, more recently I’ve started getting error messages: “504 Connect to ianxz6zefk72ulzz.onion:80 failed: SOCKS error: host unreachable” and “504 Connect to ianxz6zefk72ulzz.onion:80 failed: SOCKS error: TTL Expired”. Originally, I was able to access SR occasionally by simply refreshing the page/restarting Vidalia, but more recently – nothing has been working.
I’ve read a little about this already (people timing out) and I’ve tried refreshing the page, choosing a new identity (new exit nodes), stopping and starting Tor, restarting Vidalia, restarting my computer, restarting my router, uninstalling the Vidalia bundle, reinstalling it (the latest stable version), downloading the tor browser, etc. I’ve spent hours just messing about trying to fix this problem. I’m fairly certain I’ve got my network connection settings configured properly; Polipo is defiantly running and I’ve got my HTTP, SSL, FTP, Gopher proxy pointing at localhost:8118 and I’ve got SOCKS Host pointing at localhost:9050.
The weird thing about this is that I can actually access some tor hidden services (such as the SR forums as well as a couple of others), but I cannot access SR it’s self and there are a couple of other ones giving me the same error message. Has anyone else been experiencing problems like mine? Does anyone have any ideas on a fix? Is it perhaps a problem with the SR server? (I’m not too great on the technical stuff, so please try and keep it in simple terms for me :P)
The annoying thing is I was hoping on getting onto SR to get some orders down this week, and I’m currently waiting for something to arrive and it seems to be late, but I can’t contact the guy because I can’t get onto SR. Any help with this issue would greatly be appreciated.
