Title: security idea
Post by: paxpax on July 30, 2012, 02:17 pm
SR -So I had an idea floating around in my head that may be beneficial to to the security of both vendors and buyers alike. A major risk to SR would be infiltration of LE of a top tier vendor. I would imagine many vendors operate outside of SR, for those who may get pinched, they may make the mistake of giving up SR credentials for some type of deal. Why not institute a panic password? If the panic password is used to login all listings are immediately deleted. SR would be automatically notified of the breach as well. In addition all pending orders should be automatically canceled and any messages to the account would be interrupted and an auto reply generated to the initiating user. Existing messages would be deleted as well. This would give LE an empty eggshell of an account.

good idea but if le knows what account you have then they already got all teh public info on it, and if this deletes EVERYTHING then they'll get you for destruction of evidence. Maybe just deletion of private data with warning to all customers/staff?

Or it could be a fake account with dummy information to mislead authorities, while silently alerting TSR staff.
Not a bad idea...

This is actually a really good idea... I'd like to see this implemented, but I'd also like to see what some experienced vendors have to say about it.
