I believe that if we add just one extra step to the ordering process, and make certain options available, both buyers AND vendors alike, will have far less frustrating experiences here. One of the biggest issues people seem to have is the option to cancel, and lack of communications from busy vendors. So, after much thought, this is the best possible solution we could come up with to solve issues both in regards to buyers AND vendors, by making one small update to the main site:
What if we added a layer that does the following:
1. When an order is placed, the OPTION TO CANCEL that order becomes IMMEDIATELY AVAILABLE, just in-case of an error in a listing, or in-case the vendor forgets they have listings up, and isn't seen for days. TIME IS MONEY.
2. When an order is placed, the Vendor is notified of an order, but CANNOT SEE THE ADDRESS INFORMATION of the order UNTIL the order is MARKED "processing" BY the VENDOR themselves.
3. ONCE an order has been MARKED "processing" BY the VENDOR, the OPTION TO CANCEL is TERMINATED.
This would eliminate wait-times and what not that occur when vendors don't log in for several days but leave listings up and unattended. This would also eliminate the potential buyer-scams that have and do occur; when a buyer(intentionally, or just impatiently) cancels an order that hasn't yet been marked "in-transit" by a vendor who is constantly busy and ships items out before marking them in-transit.
I was told directly by SR Support that adding weight to that thread, MAY help bring this to fruition. Think about it... no more orders sitting in "processing", with no communication from the vendor leaving you thinking they didn't even see your order or something. With this new system, you would know if and when a vendor saw and accepted your order... which also cuts down on buyer-to-vendor communications / questions, which would benefit MOST vendors.
Please, cast your honest vote!

I think because people are paying cancellation fees, then they should have a choice to cancel whenever.
Plus why would I have to wait 4 days to edit my order.
Its should Not be removed....but....it should be shortened to 48 hours or less.
4 days to ship order is sloppy work anyways. :-X

Quoted for truth.

I've canceled one order from bbhc52 last week because it wasn't shipped by the fourth day. I have two orders in processing since the 2nd, when I ordered. I understand that things are going slow because of the 4th but I really don't want to cancel these orders too.

There are no cancellation fees. You will get charged hedging fees if their escrow is hedged. If their escrow isn't hedged then you get charged nothing.

Am I right or wrong?

Wrong. There is no option to do that.

I am like 99.8% sure that there are few vendors, that in their Policy information state their cancellation fee for cancelled orders. Cause packaging and unpackaging is not fun.
Still though, Im 100% for the Time Change. 8)
What you think about it, as a vendor Jack?

You would have to willingly send them coins. For it to be not against the rules, you would have to purchase a cancelled fee listing to send them the coins....
Four days is fine with me. More importantly, we need buyer feedback and buyers need to not be able to change their feedback rating three months after purchase. Holding feedback hostage and extorting for bitcoins and drugs is a problem.

Yeah Jack, I am also very curious myself how that is handled.
About the feedback and 3 moths.
Think about a newbie buyer, who has never visited the forums.
O shit I just got robbed...
The Feedback is the ONLY way, the newbie knows how to WARN OTHERS of scammer.
Then the next set of newbies will see the warning, and not order.
SR hostage/extortion is terrible thing... for instance what happened to SpaceWrangler.
Got scam attempted, lost shit ton $$$, then went rogue, and scammed chunk SR.

There is NO REASON for anyone to ever need to change a feedback THREE MONTHS after they received their product other than to extort the vendor and hold their feedback hostage.

Ohhh after 3 months....... WTF?
I read your whole post wrong....
Dude Jack.. OMG...that is not in effect?
People can order like 100 x $100 items, then in 3 months extort the vendor, or else 100 orders get 0% which could cause the vendors rating to crash.
Dude Jack, We need this to be added to the Petition.
No wonder people are getting extorted.
Wow major flaw.
Shorten it to 1 month SR. 8)

what if we just correct this on the buyer's side?
buyer be 100% sure that you are ready to purchase the order and that you want it
you can purchase it because you have coins and you have an expected time of arrival
plus you have to include in your waiting period the processing of the vendor because we have to understand that not all vendors
are on full force daily shipping and movement all day
i for one have only cancelled one order that took too long to process which was over a week
that was from MIMM, I just cancelled and moved to my second option.
Vendors also indicate how many days it they can take to process an order
depending on how busy they are etc

Truth. I think people think the money they lose on cancelling hedged orders are 'cancellation fees' ... Some people also confuse the money lost on unhedged orders for fees as well, if for example coin dropped in value over the duration of the order being in escrow, before being cancelled. But, there are no actual 'cancellation fees'.

In my case, I have an order with a vendor who is now "last seen 3 days ago", and at the time of placing the order, they were "last seen today" ... SR refuses to open the option to cancel, even though the vendor never saw the order. Which is fine... but also why that needs to be changed.
There isn't much of a rebuttal against this implementation, nor very many reasons of why it couldn't, or shouldn't be done. This would help both buyers, and vendors --of which I am both. I say that because most people only see one side or the other. It would break down like this:
Once an order is placed, that order is marked "Ordered" to both the buyer and the vendor. The buyer and vendor will both be able to cancel the order after it is placed.
When a vendor receives an order; after reviewing the buyer's purchasing stats, if they so choose to to 'accept' the order, will do so by marking it "confirmed" as we normally would have to. By 'confirming' a placed order, a vendor will both be unveiling the buyer's encrypted(or unencrypted tisk tisk) shipping information to themselves, AND disabling the option to cancel.
What this will do is, enable buyers at large MORE CONTROL OVER THEIR COIN, all while making sure vendors are a bit more organized!
Think about it... if a vendor can't see your address info until they accept it, and you can cancel it until then... it's a win-win scenario. As well, as stated, this would eliminate the need for those pesky messages "hey, did you get my order? Hey when is that going out?" As a buyer will be reassured to know that their order is processing, meaning, it has been accepted. At which point, most people would be pretty content.
From that point forward, everything is normal, except the option to cancel turns into the disabled(timer) 'resolve' button; as it does when orders are 'confirmed(vendor)' or 'in transit(buyer)' -Note the difference in vocab? ...
-
They should make the option to cancel within 2 days. They definitely need to lower it.
-
I believe the vendor can cancel the order any time they wish, even before 4 days has gone by.
It is my understanding that the 4 day window was established to give the vendors enough time to get your order ready for shipment and then mark it as in transit.
If the buyer can cancel the order 24 hours after the order had been placed, it is quite possible that the vendor may have already assembled the order and gone to the PO to send it out. What happens when they get back after having sent the order and go to place it in transit only to find the order has been cancelled by the buyer. They would now be at the mercy of the buyer for payment.
I think what is needed is a third status state for orders.
The first state would be the same, Processing.
The second state would be new, Order Acknowledged
The third state would be In Transit.
One other change would be to reduce the 4 days to 48 hours. The vendor would have to acknowledge the order within 48 hours, if the vendor hasn't acknowledged the order within 48 hours, then the buyer would be able to cancel it. As you say, any competent vendor should be able to at least acknowledge the order within 48 hours, 4 days is silly.
You would still have the problem of vendors simply acknowledging orders the minute they appear then taking their time as usual to place it in transit.
But it should eliminate the annoying problem of vendors who place listings and only check for orders every 3 or 4 days, leaving orders sitting in processing until 4 days have gone by and the buyer can finally cancel it.
If the cancellation window is changed the biggest issue will be making sure a buyer cannot cancel an order while the vendor is in the processing of sending it. In my opinion SR is going to weigh any change to that window against that possibility, changing it only if they are sure it won't leave vendors vulnerable to just that scenario, no matter how much it might annoy buyers that their money is just sitting there for days until they can cancel it and get their money back and order from someone else.
-
Exactly. Postage is printed or applied by four days. Everything is ready to be sent. I've said that in another thread. Then we are going to be busting our asses packaging orders and paying for postage just to have some customer that couldn't make up his mind cancel the order.
A customer can ALWAYS message a vendor to have a order cancelled. I've done it for customers. I've even done it after postage was printed and applied. I ate the costs. I can definitely see where some vendors would not want to eat those costs because of a customer that can't make up their mind though. It's not just the costs of postage and packaging, it's also the cost of our time. Our time spent working for you isn't free.
-
I have said before and again agree, that 96 hrs is way too long. The main problem is with vendors being "last seen today" and then you place an order and they disappear for four days without warning. Vendors can alleviate this by regularly putting dated updates on their page.("I will be out of town for3 days and will not be taking orders until xx/xx/xx")
Also, a realistic current processing time can be posted here. Good vendors all do this; and I have utmost respect for such, and will use them again if they do what they promise(ie: "orders placed before 3pm one day will be posted next day"). This kind of thing really helps customers choose vendors.
It seems there are two alterations being discussed:
The first is a simple reduction of the time to 48 hrs. This would be easy to implement, and although not perfect from either a customer or vendfor perspective, would be an improvement on current system.
The second is a change to a three stage system of order status, along the lines of "order placed" "processing" and "in transit"(obviously different names for these stages could be agreed upon).
The new first stage, where an order has been placed but not seen/acknowledged by vendor could be cancelled by buyer at any point. This would do away with the AWOLvendor problem. If a vendor seemed to have temporarily vanished your coins would not be tied and you could cancel and try someone else.
I imagine the second stage "processing" would have to have some kind of time limit on it to discourage vendors marking all orders "processing" immediately to prevent cancelling. (Ideally, this processing time limit could be chosen by the vendor and displayed on his page automatically, to take into account individual vendors needs and level of operation, while alerting customers to the likely length of their wait.). If this advertised processing time was exceeded, the customer once again would have the chance to cancel.
This seems fair to both sides. A vendor can set his processing time to however long he feels he needs at the moment, and so hopefully won't have the problem of indecisive/impatient customer cancelling after he has wasted time packaging an item. A customer can see clearly how long he can expect to wait(and choose vendor accordingly), and so will have no cause for complaint
The downside to this is it would be more complicated to implement of course.
Either way I would like to see current system changed, as I have had my coins tied up for 4 days a couple of times, and its frustrating on a domestic order that you could reasonably expect to come in a couple days. (Usually, if I want drugs for one weekend I will order the previous weekend, to allow for mishaps. Domestic orders this should be plenty. But having my coins held by a vendor for 4 days has totally fucked up my plans on a couple of occaisions)
Its just totally one sided as it is. A vendor can cancel at will, but customer cannot. This is not conducive to a free market,
-
I'm against it but if they ever do shorten the cancellation time then I'll just raise all of my prices to make up for the cunts that waste my time by cancelling their orders after I've already payed for the postage and packaged the order or I'll start requiring FE.
No skin off my balls. 8)

All the classic signs show that I am Stuck in a scam right now. I always catch on after I click order. Another 16-20+ days till SR court (resolution center). I wish I could click that Cancel button right now.
-
Fully agree! Just earlier today wanted to cancel a purchase, to invest that portion of BTC into something else and couldn't because it's not available to. It shouldn't hurt the vendors for a cancel if he hasn't processed anything yet.
I'm sure this will be revised in the future.

The obvious problem with this proposal is that vendors will immediately mark the order in transit even if it isn't in transit; and I think quite a few buyers would have a problem with that. The only solution I could think of is for SR to keep the system the way it is, but allow buyers to cancel if the Vendor doesn't login and view the order by the next work-day. That should make things more convenient for buyers without putting pressure on Vendors to mark the order 'in transit' when it isn't.
-

Well did you message the vendor? ::) I am nice enough that I cancel orders when people ask me to... But I can see where some vendors would not want to because they could be losing money due to postage and packaging.

I completely understand your point of view... however, could you not just mark the order "in-transit" just before you pay for the postage and package the order? This way the customer would not be able to cancel and you're not left hanging for the postage/packaging/time and wouldn't have to raise your prices.
I'm not a vendor but I can see where the vendor does take the majority of the... well I was going to say risk but that's probably not accurate, let's just say.. bullshit. So called customers trying to hostage a vendor over a rating or review just to get extra product is complete bullshit or any number of other bullshit games that get played.
This said, I do think they could reduce the amount of time we have to wait for the cancel button to light up. I have not had to cancel many but the ones I did (vendor has not logged on in 3-4 days), the vendor didn't even know I placed the order so no skin off their back but yet I had to wait 4 days to get back my coin to place an order with another vendor.
Anyway, my .002 BTC.
Peace

It is clear that neither of you thoroughly read the proposed Idea. In my example, I stated that a VENDOR would NOT BE ABLE TO SEE the ADDRESS INFO of an order, until "Marking it accepted", which IN-TURN would DISABLE THE OPTION TO CANCEL.
Poof goes both of these arguments. Please read first, type a response second folks.... at least for the sake of looking professional, or like you 'actually' give a shit, and don't just go about your life with a pre-decided opinion on every new idea that is presented to you. ::)

So you're suggesting vendors to mark items in transit before they are really in transit? ???
Also before seeing the address? ??? So many people from Australia tend to order things that I only sell domestically in the US. This would cause a problem.

You could use a lesson in vocabulary, it seems.
1. Buyer 'places an order' - option to cancel is available...
.... Time elapses...
2. Vendor 'sees the placed order', reviews the purchasing stats, and either 'confirms' or 'rejects' the order.
If 'confirmed', the option to cancel(for the buyer) is then disable, and the address information of the order is revealed to the Vendor.
From that point forward, the buyer see's their order as "processing" instead of simply "ordered" ... and everything from that point forward, is as it is now.
I don't understand how, or why this is so impossible for some people to comprehend, especially someone who claims to have given a lot of the top-name vendors here, advice on vending. Starting to smell bullshit.

Does anyone really care...look are you a virgin? go and get a bird and a life you fucking 4 eyed nonce...just like a peado you are...gozzy lookin at your screen you wanker

Clean your upper lip Festivalia. I mainly helped vendors with shipping. I never said top vendors. One of them is a 16% top vendor though.
Okay, yeah I no problem with that I guess. I really don't care to though. Buyers should pick their vendors wisely. I never fuck off and disappear when vending and I always ship my orders fast so I am not a problem for my buyers. I can see where shit vendors could be a problem though. That is why I said that a buyer should pick their vendors wisely. ::)

I'm against it but if they ever do shorten the cancellation time then I'll just raise all of my prices to make up for the cunts that waste my time by cancelling their orders after I've already payed for the postage and packaged the order or I'll start requiring FE.
No skin off my balls. 8)

Again, read first, respond second, and I won't bite your head off. I really hate when people shoot down ideas without really considering all the points. And, disregard the obnoxious idiot with -85 karma. He's the resident spammer of the boards.

The vocabulary and spelling of a 16 year old fat-ass on summer break... I post an average of a thread/post a day, and I've been on these boards a year.
I'm assuming you're targeting me because I didn't think any of your spam threads about BruceCampbell were funny?
The only people still talking about virgins ARE pedophiles, AND VIRGINS. Get the fuck out of my thread.

No I'm honestly asking you does anyone, apart from Jack, give a flying fuck. Go out and live a bit you boring bastard.
Get a g/f, or something anythin to stop your boring threads. Now listen up FUCK OFF.

As proposed, the idea seems sound. The only difference from the current process would be the required acknowledgement from the vendor, which would serve to assure the buyer that the vendor has seen the order and agreed to ship it, thereby negating the option to cancel for another X hours... seems fair.
I'm not sure how abusable the buyer's ability to immediately cancel an order would be.
If there's no determinable abusability, then perhaps this should be seriously considered.

Stop trolling, get off my dick, get out of my thread. You can vote "No." as many times as you want, and spam me with negative karma... it's not going to improve the size of your penis.

I'm with you here festivalia, its annoying when people respond with criticisms which show they haven't bothered to read the proposal.
Is it just me or has the quality of discourse dropped on these forums lately? The philisophy section is a fucking embarrassment for a start. At first there was genuine discussion of libertarian economics and other ideas. Now its all "Hey you guys believe in fairies?? I saw one once but it turned out to be a squirrel" Anyway
Its fairly simple:
STAGE 1: the order is placed but vendor has not seen/acknowledged it. Customer can cancel if he feels he is waiting too long. THIS BIT IS THE BIT THAT STOPS COINS BEING TIED UP BY VENDORS FUCKING OFF UNEXPECTEDLY.
STAGE 2: vendor marks order "processing" (let's call it that to avoid confusion) and starts weighing, packaging and sticking stamps on, all that good stuff. CUSTOMER CAN NO LONGER CANCEL. There should be a time limit on this stage to prevent vendors abusing it and marking all orders immediately then leaving them processing for as long as they want. I guess this could be 96 hrs as it is now, since vendors seem to agree this is enough.
STAGE 3: vendor marks order "In transit" and posts the thing. I guess there's nothing to stop them doing this early if they run out of time in stage 2, but they could do this under current system. Again CUSTOMER CANNOT CANCEL.
I think its a good idea. I would have thought vendors would support it to reduce PMs. At the moment, before I make an order, I will often PM a vendor basically to say 'will you be serving tomorrow?'. I'm aware this is a pointless waste of their time, but waiting four days for my coins while bitcoin fluctuates is pointless waste of my time.

I have shown this to a lot of vendors(this thread), and while I know most of them won't post(simply just vote) because of time-contraints, Christy Nugs did tell me that she doesn't like the sound of "extra steps" ... but also thinks it's a good idea, regardless. I could see the hesitancy for some vendors, but this will only make things smoother for everyone. :)
Thanks for reading, and reiterating. Your feedback is great! +1

Your welcome, now fuck off and don't start a ridiculous thread again you faggott.

Bump. Let's get some more eyes on this! I'd like to get REAL feedback.
I'm forwarding this to DPR also, to see what his mind thinks. Perhaps this can come to fruition as it would seem that behind the scenes, SR is getting a little face-lift here, a little tummy-tuck there...
In this game, we have to always evolve our method. Organization and proper dialogue as well as establishing a uniform system vocabulary can only improve the ordering process on both ends. Let's work out all of the kinks!
-
I like the idea i have been waiting for over 48 hours for an order to go from processing to transit and TBH i would rather have my coin back and by off someone else.

Exactly. Was the vendor last seen 2 days ago, also? I hear many people complain of this on a daily basis here. It's so frustrating, financially.

Nope the vendoer was seen today and hasn't bothered to read my messages, and its been well over 48 hours. As soon as i have the option to cancel i will cancel, got a funny feeling im about to be scammed.
-
Well im about to cancel my 3rd order in as many weeks, why are so many vendors taking orders but not processing them? I think it should be cut to 72 hours that is more than sufficient time to package and send.
-
The human condition of biting off more than we can chew.
I don't know many vendors who don't leave 24/7 listings up, as to never miss a sale. But I don't know anyone who spends 24/7 on here, or on a computer for that matter.
-
About the feedback and 3 moths.
A tiny bit off topic but you bring it up that often i kind of wanted to respond:).
Yes there is.
Vendors that are scammers now just have to lead their buyers on for 3 month with your suggestion.
(Yes it is very much possible)
In order for a buyer to extortion their vendor with the feedback thing they must message the vendor..right?
So the logical option would be for the vendor to be able to report this buyer and the feedback to be labeled as a scam-attempt or something to that extent.
Or must we have the escrow thing going for months on ends too in case there is something off about.
This opens up the door for reversed extortion too, release funds or now get refund-stats on your buyer stats.
I'm just not for the muzzling of EITHER party in the manner you propose.
Sucks that it happens but when this is is a reputable and good vendors..scammers stand out for the lowlifes they are.
