Hi, I'm new to all this and having a hard time figuring out what I need to do in order to buy on SR.
EDIT: I had a long, fairly ranty post here about how I couldn't figure out WTF intersango was up to. It seems there have been issues recently and it is no longer possible to anonymously deposit cash into their account via a paying in slip. The alternative is doing a transfer from a bank account, which gets the job done I guess, but even though I have heard good arguments saying it doesn't matter, it feels a bit odd using such an official, paper-trail-y method for something so... clandestine.
I guess you could get a friend to make the deposit from their online banking with your reference number, and give them the cash IRL. One low-tech degree of separation...
Is there a better service that does the same thing? Or any other alternatives? It seems that getting bitcoins is a pain in the arse, but once you have them the whole process is rather straightforward. I am not a technophobe by any stretch, but the sheer volume of misinformation and bullshit I have encountered trying to sort this out is incredible. Any help would be much appreciated :D
Cheers

I've always done bank transfer to Intersango, but then ensured the coins aren't easily traceable to me by hopping them across various wallets before they go into SR.
I've heard Mt Gox allows you to deposit cash into their Barclays account. Search the forums for "Barclays" and you'll probably find the info on how to do it.

Cheers. Seems like you can still do cash deposits with MtGox, like you say, although they block your account if you access it through Tor. ::) greeaaaaaaaaaattt.... I guess this can be worked around by just signing up for / accessing your MtGox account through open wifi networks down the pub (or whatever) without Tor.
So the 2 options are get a friend to wire £ to intersango online, or deposit cash to MtGox in a Barclay's and jump through the one extra hoop of making sure it's not your IP address you use to login (without using Tor).
That's sorted then, thanks 8)
