A relatively new Bitcoin exchange service seems to be emerging for us UK buyers. BTCxUK:
http://64d7qoqgjcw47vvz.onion/
Or send an enquiry to: btcxuk@tormail.org
I was about to send them an email; I'm looking to acquire BTC for the first time - leading towards my first SR purchase. But I decided I'd like to hear a few more comments from members on here who have bought from them first, and decided to start a discussion thread about them. We don't seem to have all that many options in the UK compared to other countries for buying BTC, especially not without paying a ridiculous amount of GBP per BTC, and from what I've heard, BTCxUK offer at a good rate. So if this thread can determine that they are in fact legit and here to stay - well then I think it'll be safe to say we've found one of our best sources for BTC in the UK :)
They've made the effort for good anonymity too, which I like. They use an ".onion" address, and can only be contacted via Tormail - all the better for us on SR!
There have been a few comments about them on here already; all good feedback so far. But anybody else who has bought BTC from them before - please share with us your feedback/opinions!
-
good rates
and very very swift, had the BTC in my wallet before i got back from the bank and this was first thing in the morning!
my new go-to guys tbh

Keper - are you UK based?
-
I got a quote from them very quickly, but in the end went with mjbmonetarymetals.co.uk
OK, so no .onion address, and of course this is my first post, but he has good reviews on bitcointalk.org
Gave a better rate, and btcs were in my account within a couple of minutes (but took 30 mins for >3confirmations)
-
Got a quote from them today, looking good. Will buy early next week.
Really hoping they'll stay about!
-
Aren't the rates much better if you use localbitcoins.com? I just hit info>advancedsearch and search for all traders within a few hundred miles of manchester. There's tons of people with excellent reps selling for very low commisions. Even though the site is called localbitcoins it seems like everyone is just using it for bank transfers, not in person trades.

The cheapest I could find on there, but with a good amount of decent feedback, is "Btc Faucet" (am I missing something?) - but if you look at his more detailed pricing structure, he charges a certain percent above the Mt. Gox average per BTC; a smaller percentage the more you spend.
So for me: I was looking to buy about 4.5BTC for now, and based on his pricing structure, that'd cost me about £8.14 per BTC. By the sounds of it, BTCxUK might be selling for less than that.
"Loveliness" is selling for quite cheap; £7.80 at the moment... but there isn't much feedback (which could easily be fabricated) or info on the seller. There is "Bit Miner" as well, who apparently only charges £7.58 at the moment (not sure if that's true) - but according to his set up on localbitcoins, you have to spend at least £150 - so that's out of the question for me at least for now.

easternjam in another thread:
"I can vouch for BTCxUK, couldn't recommend them enough. I've now just had my second bitcoin purchase from them sent across to my SR account and it took no time at all. If you're stuck for getting coins in the UK, this is a quick and easy way of doing a bank transfer and you can trust them with your money."
-
He's legit. Vouched. Took 4 hours to deliver the coins
-
I just got an email back. Looks like he's charging 5% above the Mt. Gox Average per coin. Not bad at all.
-
Just got my first coins from BTCxUK.
Communication was a tad slow, but once the payment was sent he transferred the coins 4 hours later.
Definitely a great source for bitcoins in the UK. Great rates and also great for anonymity compared to other sellers (".onion" address, communication via Tormail etc.)
He charged £8.20 per coin. Excellent rate considering the MtGox average is currently at £7.88.
Legit vendor. Highly recommended.
-
I wouldn't trust this thread or the OP , all the people bigging this up have fuck all posts.. Shills in my opinion 8)

Fair enough. But something I have actually forgotten to mention; BTCxUK is currently being highly recommended by MrCronk from SR. If you go on Mr C's SR profile, he provides a link to the BTCxUK website (he has also posted a listing in the "money" section where he offers the BTCxUK website address).
BTCxUK said in an email to me: "If you don't trust us yet, you can leave feedback with Mr C, and please do" - sounds to me like they might know each other in person (or ARE the same person), or at least have worked together in the past.
Obviously, you can make up your own mind as to whether you trust this service or not, but feedback from either newbies or people who have been around for a while has been all good so far.
-
I naturally a suspicious person, just a thought. ;D

Just done my 2nd transaction with BTCxUK for 5 BTC.
The time taken from me sending the first email asking for his current exchange rate, to the bitcoin transaction commencing - only 2 hours. Excellent service this late on a Sunday night.
This time he charged £8.80 per BTC, with the MtGox average currently at £8.44 - Great rates. Highly recommend this source for bitcoins in the UK :D
-
Just leaving a bit of feedback for BTCxUK. Got 15 btc from them @ £8.8. It took an hour from the bank to the coins in my btc wallet. Can't say fairer than that. A professional service with good comms and a decent rate. 5 out of 5. BTW, I've never used Mr Cronk so can't comment on him but BTCxUk certainly are on the ball :)
-
Are you lot transferring from your current account?
Don't like leaving so much trace - what if he's LE and collecting details?
-

Depositing cash.
-

Yeah I've been using an online bank transfer from my everyday current account that I use for everything else in my life.
The way he talks, he doesn't seem like LE at all to me, especially the way he's affiliated with Cronk & uses Tormail and an .onion website etc.
And even if he was LE... buying bitcoin isn't illegal, and as long as you tumble your coins before sending them to SR, there's not really any problem. Plus LE wouldn't be wasting time trying to catch a few people buying bitcoins that might eventually be being used to buy things from SR... they're after the dealers.
-
New user. Read this thread and then got from BTC. 25 BTC arrived within 15 minutes of me asking for the price and getting bank details.
I know I'm new, hopefully in time with more posts my reference here will have more credibility, but for now it is what it is.
100% review.
-
Any more reviews on this guy? Thinking of getting a few BTC through online bank transfer, safe enough with this guy?
-
Any more reviews on this guy? Thinking of getting a few BTC through online bank transfer, safe enough with this guy?
The way he talks in emails can be a bit unconvincing - he kinda talks in text/online language, rather than with a professional tone, but in terms of actually obtaining bitcoins, I've had no problems the two times I've used him, and as of now will be using him as my only source. His rates are good - and he seems quite relaxed about his rates. The first time I used him, I contacted him asking for his rate, he told me £8.20 per coin, and then after exchanging emails over the next two days, when it came to buying the the coins, he kept the rate at £8.20 for me, even though the MtGox average had increased by something like 20-30p over those two days.
I guess if you're still apprehensive, maybe buy just 1 BTC and see how that goes. Then get more if you're happy with the service.
-
2 transactions done now. No complaints at all. Very fast and efficient :)
-
Successful transaction. Rapid.
No complaints!
-
Thanks for the heads up
I can't open the site - is it just me?
Also is the email still working and does tormail require pgp?
Thanks in advance
-
Website is loading for me.
And no they don't require PGP (buying btc is legal after all)
-
Thanks again. It came up with a black screen with green writing yesterday and today it just keeps saying connecting.... Guess it's just me.
Have been on it in the past/emailed the guy - seems legit and high level of customer service; my own fault for forgetting my pass.
-
Website not loading for me either unfortunately. Just keep saying connecting.
-
Just send an email straight to:
btcxuk@tormail.org
I've added the address to the first post now too.
-
I sent these guys a transfer yesterday morning and still not heard anything back, Ive sent a couple mails back asking why the wait but still nothing? Im not really to worried at this point well not in the sense I have been scammed more along the lines of have these guys been busted or something, I needed the coins today too, hope he gets back.
How long is a good time before you folks would start to worry its almost 2 days with no reply?
-
I use localbitcoins these days. Although they were set up for in person trading ,much seems to be done by bank transfer or deposit to the vendors account (which you could do at any branch I presume?) There is an escrow system but obviously use proper caution. If you are para about the police giving a shit about your minor drug transactions you can put the coins through bitcoin fog. or similar. Buying BTC isn't suspicous or illegal. I know a few people who consider them a worthwhile investment who have no drug connection at all.
-
Bump, has any one heard from these guys been nearly 2 days since I sent money?
-
Hmm, this is a little strange. I was just about to get some more from them too.
I know 'fuckingACE' was having problems with tormail recently; maybe they're having trouble too and can't read emails or something.
I really hope they haven't just turned out to be scammers after building up a good initial repuation.
-
The website is loading for me again now.
I'm gonna send them an email and see if I get a reply.
Anyone else who has tried to contact them, please come back and let us know whether you do/don't get a response.
-
Rather irritating how so many bitcoin services are turning into scammers after building up a loyal customer base, for fuck sake it feels less risky buying cocaine off SR than trying to legitimately buy bitcoins.
-
Hello, just an update guys, I received an email this morning from xuk saying that he had been away from office for the new year I checked my account and surly enough my coins were there this morning so all good and thankfully these guys are legit just thought I would let people know whats happening.
I think a lot of people including myself jump the gun and panic when they dont receive a quick reply.
2 things need to happen here......... btc vendors need to reply quicker and btc buyers need to keep their cool a bit more and as long as we all help each other out on the forums we can keep scammers at bay and make sure every one is happy.
BIG SMILES :)
-
Glad to hear they're still legit, I plan on using them soon. I have become very bitter and jaded with bitcoins because I've been ripped off now for probably close to a grand in various ways since I started using them. I've used a lot of bitcoin sources in the past that were legit for small purchases but would then rip me off later on when I'd try a larger score.
-
Awesome. Thanks for the update. You know what? That didn't even cross my mind... them having a break for the holidays. Haha, seems so obvious now. Although a little notice on their site would've been nice.
-
How long does it take to usually order from these guys? From when you email, to having the coins in your account? I'm probably gonna order from them soon just wondering what kind of wait I should expect, assuming they're not still on vacation.
-
It's usually pretty fast. Couple of hours maybe? I usually email my amount to get a price then deposit cash on the way to work in the morning. Once I'm back home in the evening I'll then E-mail again to confirm a wallet address.
Every time I have used them it's never been over 5 hours from that second mail.
-
+1 Thanks! This service seems awesome, rates are pretty good if they're as fast as you say. I'm impressed also with how quickly they replied to my email. I will definitely be using them from now on until something goes wrong so cheers everyone.
-
Just done my 3rd transaction with these guys, for 15btc.
Their rate was £8.60 per coin, and with the MtGox average at around just over £8.40 - I was a very happy chap. I was expecting them to want something more around the £8.80 mark. Excellent rates yet again.
In terms of the time that the transaction took; I sent the first enquiry email at around 20:00, got a reply stating their current rates at midnight (this has happened every time so far now - I think they take the evening off, but then check their emails one last time before bed). I then sent the money to their account at around 01:00, and once I woke up, the Btc was in my wallet and was sent at 11:00.
I'm sure it'd be quicker if I actually did my business during normal working hours; not that I'm complaining. I've never been in a rush.
-
the link you gave aint loading for me :o
-
To their website? Hmm, they must have really low bandwidth or some other maintenance issues or something. Some people have been having trouble loading it lately.
But their website only tells you a little bit of info, and then just tells you to send them an email.
(Email address is given in the first post).
So if you're happy to just get straight to it and send them an email; ask them what their current rate is & how much btc you're looking to buy, and they'll get back to you with their bank details and what to use as the bank statement reference. Then you can send them the money, provide your bitcoin receive address, and it should be smooth sailing from there.
Edit: Website is loading for me. All it says is:
"Please send us an email at BTCxUK@tormail.org containing the following information and we will get back to you ASAP:
Nickname
BTC Address
Email/Tormail
BTC Quantity
Trades are offered with low fees to cover administration, no hidden charges or commission."
-
got it buddy email sent ;)
thanks
-
Love this service! I have already used it once and now planning on using again, really hope it stays around!
Sent an email about 10 minutes ago and already got a swift reply. I've also noticed the guy has started typing in a professional manner which makes it feel much nicer imo as before he was just typing in a text language format.
-
got them this morning 10 btc for £87.00 8) if your reading thanks guys
-
These guys are great for us UK bitcoin buyers, very good rates and fast service. Wouldn't have found them if not for this thread so thanks everyone. I got my coins within about an hour or two, I'll be using these guys for the foreseeable future.
-
I got my coins this morning after depositing yesterday afternoon. Again excellent service, the best option for UK buyers I hope the word spreads even more!
-
yeh I would use them again no problem
-
I also got my coins through last night from emailing in the late evening. Been my first and only source since starting around here
-
I've never purchased bitcoins before and chose to use BTCxUK, it was a fast and easy service and I'd definitely recommend it!
-
I just sent the guy an email. Hopefully Ill hear back from him soon.
Is it just like making a usual bank payment. He gives me his details. I send send the moeny. He puts it through to the address given?. Thanks.
-
Just got a few coins off him always there within 24 hours usually lately been within 2 or 3 hours, great btc vendor lets just hope they stay that way!
-
I just got a reply from btcxuk@tormail.org
Isnt the name BTCxUK@tormail.org or am i overly worrying here?
-
Overly worried. Capital letters or not; it's the same people :)
-
seriously kicking myself here wish i found this thread sooner...hopefully ill be trying these guys out this weekend, start of next.
-
quick question, when you send btcxuk an email for the 1st time what do you say?and when you send a nickname just make 1 up?or does it have to do with your tormail or forum name?
-
I never gave them a nickname. I don't think it really matters. After all your tormail address is your nickname to them.
Just say you're interested in buying however much, and ask for their current rate and bank details. Once they give you that info, you can send the money to them, and then send another email providing the bitcoin address that you want to receive the coins on.

Latest order is taking a lot longer than normal but I presume btcxuk is either busy or away temporarily, this has been a great service so far, even with these little waits the service is worth it because you get great rates compared to some other competitors
-
Anyone else reckon they're a SR vendor cashing out?
-
Anyone else reckon they're a SR vendor cashing out?
They've been associated with MrCronk from SR (he links to them on his profile, and they ask people to leave feedback with Cronk sometimes), so yeah, that's what I've been thinking. They either are him, or at least are some mates of his.
-

Yes of course, it was just a delay of about 12 hours or so, similar to what happened to you. BTCxUK said they had had a bad day or something along those lines. No big deal, got the usual great rate, so BTCxUK will remain my go-to bitcoin source for the time being. If I had to wait several days that would be another story.

good good glad to hear it. im on waiting on some more myself hopefully they shouldnt take too long ;D.. everyone has their bad days.
-
curiosity kicking in again since iv been waiting a bit longer than last time.whens the best time to get in touch with these guys?
-
Ordered a large amount this afternoon around 12 not heard anything back or received coins as of yet will update when i do so.
-
So cash transfers can be made? Be careful using online transfers of money to those whoa re allied with vendors. If they ever get busted suspicion may start to land on you when going through bank records if you have used it for larger amounts. For smaller amounts should be fine depending on your level of paranoia. Glad to see a UK BTC vendor pop up anyhow.
-

-
Hope you guys get sorted soon and this service hasn't gone rogue, the rates are so good I'd hate to go back to a more expensive one.

Any news on missing coins?
Really wanna try the service, but a bit concerned about getting shafted.
-
This service seems convenient, easy to use and a good price. In the meantime use bitcoin otc. Takes more time to get to grips with but a good service. Here is info on it. http://dkn255hz262ypmii.onion/index.php?topic=46692.120;topicseen
-
i have still heard nothing from him sent an email last night and sent one today, nothing.starting to get annoyed now even know it was only £50 its still £50 and i was planning on using this service for a very long time so thats a loss also.i dont know if anyone else is having this trouble or if im the only one...
-
could someone email these guys and let me know if they get back to you?im starting to feel like my emails are getting blanked
-
I don't know how much people are missing but it might be worth putting in a small claim if you're in the hundreds level and this guy doesn't get in touch. There isn't anything illegal about buying btc and you have enough details to pursue a claim.
You can even do it online - https://www.moneyclaim.gov.uk .
-
Does the pingit method still work, does anybody know?

Any news on this mate?
Been researching OTC, but seems awfully convoluted and risky, not sure about bank transfers or face to face..
-
So is this guy still legit? Anyone still waiting on coins?

I used to look for ukash to BTC vendors but the common theme is that when they receive a large enough order, they will run. I cannot comment on this individual but it makes sense to me as they are relatively anonymous and you have little recourse without revealing your identity.
I have peace of mind with bitcoin otc. Yes, it is a bit of a ballache for a few hours. But when you get to grips it is worth it. Good rates, anonymity, dealing on clearweb with honest people and most of all none of this nervousness everytime you conduct a transaction.
Don;t get me wrong, there are scammers who prey on those who have not done their research. However, people are friendly and if you ask questions they are happy to answer. Their idea of 'ripping you off' for the large part is giving you a slightly unfavourable rate.
Guys like BTCxUK are great if you don;t want to invest a few hours and go through some frustration. However, if you plan on staying no the road for years to come is it really worth not learning? When those first coins land in your wallet you will be glad you did.
STart small, keep anonymous and make sure you read ALL before doing a transaction. If you rush you may slip up.
-
Sooo, any more news on this? Recent successful transactions??
-
so btcxuk finally got back to me with an email on monday after sending them a good few and we have been back and forth since trying to sort this and said they should have confirmation from their bank by the end of yesterday if they missed they also said "if they missed my payment it is the first out of thousands"
i also received this message from someone who wanted it posted :
Hey man i talk to BTCxUK he said you contacted them 5 days after your deposit which makes really hard to track as they try not to keep records as you should well know so they say they are trying to sort it and they dont sound to happy lol anyway i have took the leap of faith after talking to them and made an order for double your amount hope it works out and i will let you know ok bruva
How do i post this or will you ??????
Regards 8)
just keeping yous up to date (even know its probably still working for you lot)
-
just another message sent to me for you lot to read
Alright yes post this please i dont know how to work this yet, mine came through brutha within hours, and just to make sure i made another ton deposit today and yep straight back to me. As far as i am aware they are trying to sort you out ans this has to be said until i am proved wrong BTCxUK IS A ONE IN A MILLION SERVICE AND THIS GUY DESEVRES AN SR MEDAL OF HONOR SO DONT BE TOO QUICK TO KNOCK HIM
here is the reply
" Can u go on the rumour mill and put it straight pls my friend.
the guy says he made payment on the 21st jan, we hv been in communication
with him, and he contacts us on the 26th? We cant see the deposits on the
online banking that far back. Its that period. We hv never missed a
payment and that is a first so we are checking it properly. and we hv
no time to stir on forums."
And it does look like you are the only one with a problem so without being cheeky try to stay vigilant when you are processing your order at your end and when you send a message be patient even if it is a couple days cause bombarding the guy will just piss him off especially if he is trying to help These guys are busy and lets face it they could all scam us any time they want so dont give them an excuse to, you just have to give them the benefit of the doubt until you are really sure. HAVE FAITH BRO ;)
as i said in my reply im not stirring or trying fuck any1s business just letting yous know my experience

Nice use of grammar and punctuation in that message .....
-
...not that I am just hanging around here checking or anything :)
My mum always said to me "never trust a person who can't find the time to punctuate"..
..But she also said "never punch a man with a hat"...which of course I haven't, but not nearly the same level of intellectual integrity :)

alright guys im over the moon right now, everything has been sorted.it may have took a while but they put the effort in on their end to make sure we were both telling the truth and from about 10mins ago i finally received my coins. ;D
-
+1 Thanks for the update, I went to another service in the meantime because your warning spooked me, but now I will use BTCxUK again for the next time since their rates are better.
-
cheers mate and no bother i felt like i needed to keep you all up to date just in case the worst happened however its all good it ended up being because of a late night transfer which didnt show up till the morning and by that stage they had received other transfers and unlucky enough mine was missed so they had to back track through their bank to find it.
-
Anybody used these on a sunday night, sent transfer at 6.30 over 3 hours ago and still no word normally pretty quick Im just wondering is it because its the weekend?

yea man think weekends take slightly longer (probably due to having a life offline)
i sent transfer yesterday afternoon and had my coins when i checked this morning tho i think i got a confirmation and they were sent late last night
dont worry you should get them around now or the next hour or so if not theyll be there in the morning
this advice is from my experience
-
I had a successful transaction the other day so I would not worry
-
Yeah thought so just thought Id see if anyone had had any bother lately, these guys are good.
-
this is a nice efficient service but i have no idea how he hasn't been busted yet. it would be a piece of piss for even the stupidest of LE to figure out who this is. i clocked it as soon as i got an email back from him. very unique writing style it's sketchy as anything i'd advise people not to do bank transfers because they can be traced so easily. i wouldn't be surprised if the account has already been flagged for money laundering. although it is HSBC and we all know how much that kinda stuff bothers them ;)

How else can you pay for btc from a btc vendor? I thought this was the only way unless you want to mess about with ukash, the way I look at is if they get busted and the LE have all his clients are they really going to come after what I can guess is going to be hundreds if not thousands of people just for buying a few btc?
Anyway I sent them a transfer at 1pm still no word, anyone had anything off them recently?

Cash deposit in the bank is totally anonymous, what I usually do. :)
-
yeah i did a cash deposit. i mean if they caught on and got all big brother they have cctv and fingerprints if they're lucky but really it's only bitcoins.. or is it money laundering/tax evasion? surely it's the sellers responsibility to pay appropriate taxes on said business and i'm sure he's declaring the earnings ;) i'd be more worried about him getting busted through this and them finding out about other stuff
-
What are their rates currently at? Don't need to buy BTC at this point, so emailing them just to ask this is probably a waste.
-
mt. gox is £17.57107
blockchain for pingit is 1 BTC = £ 17.58 (2.97% Fee - 4.97% Fee) not sure if the fees included they don't make it too clear. i think the fees are a bit lower for bank transfer
but that's some crazy shit, last time i looked they peaked maybe just over £15 and that was a couple days ago.
-

tied to average
-
anyone heard from these guys today? or they taken the weekend off?
-
My latest order is taking a long time but hopefully it's just because of tormail issues. I haven't been able to get on it at all since this morning and I've tried a lot of identities and re-starting TOR altogether.
-
Just mailed him to let him know I deposited this afternoon.
Will report back when I hear back
-
+1 SNSD cheers mate, I'm in the same boat, was just gonna write an email but I think I'll just wait and see how it goes for you first. Hope we get sorted soon, I wouldn't be surprised if this was just a delay caused by technical difficulties as tormail and other sites have been working really poorly the last few days, but you never know eh?
-
He just contacted me now :)
-
Have done 3 transactions now with these guys. Defs the best rates I have been able to find and usually does the deed within 24 hours.
-
just checked in with him and he said he's been busy but his rates are tied to the average. i'm not fussed if it takes a while i just need to set up blockchain to notify me when it comes in. the prices are so volatile right now in a few hours it can go up or down a couple quid
-
Been waiting since last night for btc, still no reply to emails, never been this long before, they always come round in the end but this is the 3rd time in a row they have took the piss and I either loose a coin or 2 because the price has went up or have to wait an extra day to make an order, because I miss post, whats so hard about reading your mails, this is making me think about going else where on my next btc hunt. Has any one used princess high off here called fromonetoanother?
She said she can send the coins via sr account and they are already in her account ready to go so would not take long at all which is a good idea imo, she will be used next I think as long as her rates are good because btcxuk are failing me now in a sense, should not be this long every time. Come on btcxuk sort your shit out or you will start to loose customers!
-
im still waiting since yesterday morning for a reply... they are usually so good that it has me a little worried... :-[
-
I would not worry about being scammed these guys are legit and have to much of a good thing going on to pull scam just yet, however they are taking the piss, this will most likely be my last transaction with these guys!
-
To spread my risk, i have started using this SR vendor with a similar bank transfer method of getting bitcoin.
-> http://silkroadvb5piz3r.onion/silkroad/user/e889d89625
She is quicker than btcxuk even if the rate isn't quite a good.
PrincessHigh is her name on the forum, look her up, probably as reliable a source for UK bitcoin as you are going to get.

Yeah I sussed her a week ago, she is a little more expensive but to be honest if it means getting them within a few hours then its worth it, this guy from btcxuk is loosing it imho, everytime now he takes over a day to send coins and I am going to loose out on what I want to order so I will probably go to princess high and have to get some more whilst waiting, wont be using this joker again after today.
-
hmm i had a look as she seems sound enough on the forums but 10% on top of btcx and only over £100? not for me i'm sticking to this guy for now even if he is as efficient as royal mail ;) i know why his rates are relatively good and it makes me feel safer compared to most bitcoin sellers on here. if you're cashed up and want really fast bitcoins she's your girl
-
My last few transactions have been pretty slow as well but the rates are unbeatable so I don't mind a bit of a wait as long as I get the coin in the end and as long as the wait isn't more than a day or two at the most. Did you all get your coin in the end or are you still waiting? +1 to anyone who answers
-
If I knew it was going to take this long every time maybe it would not be so bad maybe an email saying new waiting times are such and such but its no good when your left hanging in the dark with your pants pulled down.
He still has not replied sent payment 9pm yest, I need to order asap too.
-
In my experience he seems to do his stuff around 10/11pm most weekdays.
I was sent btc yesterday evening after an order on early sunday am. guess he just had too many to get through.
-
yeah he said he usually processes orders in the evening. chill aaahhhttt, sending more emails is just going to slow him down
-
I don't have a pending order at the moment but last week it took about 24 hours for me to get coin from when I sent it over. BTCxUK sent me an email saying that they will be handling orders in the evening from now on, and I think on Sunday afternoons as well. So you guys who are waiting should hopefully have your coin by around midnight tonight.
-
yeah he said he usually processes orders in the evening. chill aaahhhttt, sending more emails is just going to slow him down
I just ment on the end of a confirmation email maybe mention oh by the way this is the best time to use us and this is how long we are taking to process orders at the moment etc, not this btc in hours line whats on the site.
-
fair enough then mate, just pictured you sitting there like arrrgh wheres my fuckin btc sending emails every hour ;D
-
haha, that actually made me laugh, no no, just sent him one last night and one this afternoon, anyway the wait continues.........:(
-
:) ballllllllllls let me know when you get them i was going to do a deposit tomorrow!
-
hope you get your coins soon mate, let us know.
iv just sent an email asking for rates but by the looks of it i may prepare myself for a wait
-
btcxuk came thru in the end! a little late but here none the less... :o
-
btcxuk came thru in the end! a little late but here none the less... :o
did you get them last night or just now??
-
just came now, 2 days exactly, are well at least they are here, plan in advance if you can people, tell vendors to keep your product if its a lot for a day or so and if your a good customer they will :)
He did mention something about a new site being built that will solve all problems, I'll go else where if I need them in a hurry but bulk Ill stay here no doubt.
-
haha took about 8 hours for me. smug. feel bad for you guys waiting looong! at least we're all sorted now though. well on the way to sr... hopefully he was genuinely ill and normal daily processing will resume. making it automated would be pretty awesome but i can't see how it would work with the current system.
-
it took about 36 hours in the end...! ;D
-
havnt used these guys in a while due to the time taking to get back to me (obviously been busy). could anyone tell me if they have quickened up their replies again?
-
didn't ask any questions or anything needing a reply but got my coins in a matter of hours today so i'd say yes they're back on track
-
happy days mate cheers
-
I haven't posted here in a while seeing as I haven't actually bought anything from SR in a while ( :'( ) - but thanks to everybody who has kept this topic up to date! ;D
Good to know this service is still going strong and scam free :)
-
It's a good service.
But sometimes, have to wait for 2 days to get fund and an email answer.
But the guy is just great and not to hungry :)
He is building a website to automate it all.
We'll see :)
-
Yeah I'm now on my 2nd day waiting to get my coins...
He said he was having trouble accessing his HSBC online account to check my payment initially, but I've not heard back from him since. That was at 9pm on Thursday.
I'm not too worried about him scamming, just wish he'd speed up his service a bit.
He did say he's been setting up a new office though.
The rates he offered this time were absolutely amazing. £32 per coin, when the MtGox average at that point was at about £31.90.
Although it'll be a pain in the arse if by the time he sends the coins, the exchange rate has dipped by a few quid...
-
Finaly got the coins :)
He told me that he is online on 8 to 9am or 8 to 9pm.
:)
-
Same here.
He sent me slightly more than I had initially paid for due to the change in the exchange rate over the last couple of days which is what I was hoping for.
He said he's got his new office now, and is online from 8/9am to 8/9pm.
He also said his new website should be about 2 months away.
The delays are a bit of a pain, but this is still the best service in the UK.
Hopefully the new office means the service will be much more speedy now too.
-
Yeah, got mines a day and a bit after depositing. It'll be great if he's available 9am - 9pm now. Rates are great, reliable service, recommended all round :D
-
Does anyone know an alternate way of contacting BTCxUK or is the tormail addy the only way? I can't get in touch with him about my transaction.
-
Tormail is the only way I know of I'm afraid.
-
Is anyone still using this service? I wanna get some coins for the best rate and it looks like this is the right guy to use.
Can anyone still vouch for him? Does anyone know his rates?
Cheers
-
i use him nearly every week or so for big amounts, over £1000 and have never had a problem, just sometimes a bit slow, especially over the weekend, but always comes through.
his rates change all the time, but usually same as mtgox.
-
Got my coins now, great rate as always, well given how high the value of bitcoins is right now. Another smooth transaction all in all, can't fault BTCxUK for the tormail outage over the past few days. Will continue to use and can recommend overall, but if you urgently need coins within a few hours maybe try another service for that.
-
Made the plunge with a relatively small order, will update on how it goes.
I'm feeling pretty confident after reading through this thread though.
-
ah good to hear you didn't have to wait too long after the tormail issues, i like this service. the rates really are great even compared to getting them on blockchain or mt gox and it's so easy.
-
+1 to you Rowsdower for keeping this thread informed
waiting sucks, but glad you got your coins hope what you want isnt sold yet ;)
always use these guys and always will such a great service
-
He is great, the best for UK people.
Easy, really honnest, and best rate.
Most of the time, way better than mtgox rate.
DOn't ever stress with this guy, he as a slow coms and sometimes he is busy, but you will always get your coin in the end and a great rate :)
-
this will eventually turn scam.
-
this will eventually turn scam.
FACT
-
haha mutually assured destruction in that case. i'm prepared for that to happen, it's always a risk we take. with blockchain stopping uk deposits today we don't have any good value, fast and guaranteed options left afaik.
-
Any ideas how long it currently takes for:- 1) replies to the email you sent from, 2) btc to enter the wallet address provided?
-
he goes through his emails in the evenings every weekday if you're lucky and he's not "ill" or whatever. someone mentioned that he processes in the mornings too but i always get coins in the evening. he's quite unpredictable. if you get them sent to a blockchain wallet you can have it text or email you when you get a desposit.
-
at BTC at the current rate does he still only do transactions of 2.5btc minimum?
-
nah i wouldn't think so. i wasn't even aware there was a restriction and i'm pretty sure i got less than that a few weeks ago, he doesn't complain!
-
The fact that he doesn't release coins beforehand for regular customers - or at least half up-front - is worrying, especially as the transactions take place outside of SR. He's probably more likely to turn scam than other BTC vendors on here.
-
FS - that other vendor BTC4Cash UK sends the half up front first. Hope that helps.
-
Oh I've never used BTCxUK, but I've noticed the regulars in this thread are kept waiting for their coins for days, despite being repeat customers, so I thought I should point out how that's not the best way to do things. Your heads up will probably help others browsing the threads who may not be comfortable with this service though. I use a vendor who has the same 'policies' as BTC4Cash UK does though, so it's all good.
-
another successful transaction (not that im surprised i knew it would be) must of caught him at the perfect time as i received btc within an 2hrs
great service,great rates
-
still takes a while (48 hrs...) but comes thru with a great price as usual.
thanks BTCxUK! 8)
-
is this service still going strong after this btc commotion?
-
i was wondering the same thing just this morning! anyone shoot him an email recently to ask?
-
i mailed him over the weekend and it seems he is still selling just at a slightly higher price than MTGox.. about £90 i think it was on Sunday
-
:o slightly higher rate! it's been around £60-70 last few days... thanks for the info though
-
:o slightly higher rate! it's been around £60-70 last few days... thanks for the info though
fuck that was a shock haha
iv sent him an email asking rates so will hit this up when i get a reply
-
I've used the guy twice for smallish amounts with no problem.
-
+1 to you theman22, I was just thinking of sending an email to ask about the rates, please do post on here what he replies to you. I want to get some more bitcoins hopefully before 4/20. Not had any problems with this service, but I just haven't used it since bitcoins crashed in value so I'm curious to know what his new rates are.
-
not a problem rowsdower im on the same boat as you..ill be checking tormail regularly so when i know ill post it up.hopefully the crash hasnt affected him too much
-
here rowsdower this is the email i sent and his reply:

im not too sure if ill purchase any tonight i think i might sit it out for another day since btc has been slowly dropping all day dont wana be pay high when theyre dropping :-\
-
bullshit did he lose a lot. he's been cashing out at market rate for months. come onnnnnnn greedy slag, he's rolling in it. tempted to give that new guy a shot who sends half up front and is charging £3 under weighted av.. argh blockchain is so shit for suspending transfers.

Thanks for posting that. I was kind of worried that might be the case, I'm also now going to wait at least til tomorrow to see how things progress. I wonder how low the value of bitcoins will drop? I made a thread about it when it started falling, but I'm surprised it's still going down. Bitcoins are the only thing I dislike about SR. I wish there was a better payment system that wasn't so volatile and generally a pain in the ass, but I suppose these frustrations are the price we pay for relative anonymity.
-

Not hijacking the thread just passing through :)

yep had a little skim through your thread earlier. you found this quick! keeping an eye on the competition eh :D
-
Just on the forum in general :)
-
Man
Everyone as lost on this one, only few got rich.
You have to scale your rate on the market rate.
SR isn't charging more because they lost money.
Man it's the game, if you don't scale your bitcoin value, I think you gonna loose a lot more.
And who knows, bitcoin might rise up again on day, I think it's time to save them :)
Cheers.
-
hes charging £70 now for coins, thats £5 above high and £10 above average, think i will try someone else as this is terrible pricing
I can highly recommend BTC4CASH UK who posted above in the thread, the link to the SR seller account is there. Fantastic rates, quickest turnaround I've ever had for bitcoins and also less paper trail than with any other method I've used. It's cash in the post only, but he is very trustworthy from my experience and has even been kind enough to give me bitcoins up front due to my good stats, so I really respected that sign of trust from him too. Ended up getting an order in much faster than I thought I could thanks to that, and of course I was quick to pay what I owed back as everyone should when doing a transaction that way.
Thanks for the recommendation but please try to keep my name in my threads or PM if you know what I mean. Don't want to be accused of being underhand or hijacking threads :)
-
Any recent experiences? I might use BTCxUK again because I need a little bit of bitcoin fast to complete an order, just wondering if the rates are still high or what they are currently if anyone's used the service in the past few days?
-
might be pricing more reasonably now the rates back up past £100... damn tormail being down.
-
totaly working great as before the bubble :)
A great service, can't recommand anymore.
For the ones who look for a uk bank account to deposit fund to convert into bitcoins, he is the guy.
He never change his bank account and all his really easy with him.
He also gonna soon have an automated website. But I think it's really complex by know to settle it fine.
Value is moving too fast.
-
Is this still working? I'm getting an error message from the link on the original post.
-
the sites not the most reliable. just email btcxuk@tormail.org i'm pretty sure that's right!
-
Anyone know if he is still operating? I've not been able to get on tormail at all.
Although I would be getting blind rates, they've been good enough so far I think to just deposit with ought asking in the hope that they show in my wallet.
-
i wouldn't count on it with tormail being down. that might be the only way he'd be able to link your deposit and wallet address. localbitcoins is faster, safer and cheaper...
-
anyone used this guy lately?
-
Yes, he's still legit.
I didn't follow through with the plan of my last post, but since tormail is somewhat back up and running I've just completed another order though with him. He's my go-to for coins again.
Still gives awesome rates, and a fast turnaround. Zero hassle.
-
yeah, used him today and everything is fine
-
Whats this guys rates like?
also whats the maximum amount he takes at a time?
-
why dont you ask him?
rates are usually about £3 more than average, i usually get around £1500 worth, but im sure he does bigger amounts
-
been using this guy for the past 3-4 months, never had a problem. just placed another order saturday and awaiting response. :)
-
As far as Im aware he doesn't work weekends.
Anybody know of any other sources to get BTC in UK. This guy is good but Im just looking for other possible options.
-
What are the best options these days guys? Looking for some new advice so please msg me or reply here. Thanks
-
I've been using localbitcoins lately. It's less anonymous than BTCxUK, but if you're not overly fussed about absolute anonymity, it's incredible. Lots of people on there are selling coin at incredible rates (I've even seen people selling at BELOW the MtGox average), and you can usually have your coins within 5 minutes if you choose the good sellers.
I can't see myself going anywhere else for btc now to be honest.
-
They accepting UKBT or these face to face deals? Does sound great tho I'll check it out. Thx. +1
Also everyone still using these guys?
-
Been using local bitcoins myself lately most sellers on it have you your btc in minutes if you use bank transfer but i find lately with the btc being all over the show the rates aren't the best.
I used btcxuk this afternoon for the 1st time in a while since i wasnt in a rush for coins and fortunately enough i caught him at the right time and had my btc by 20:30pm and the rate was great roughly 2 pound more than mtgox.
Great service like usual..just a pity its like a game of russian roulette when youll receive them
Peace
