Title: Lottos Section on Main Site
Post by: Pazure on March 03, 2012, 01:47 am
I honestly kinda like the idea of the lottos but could there be a different section for listing them. keep the other pages clutter free. its possible that there is no reason to do this (not enough lottos, theyre just scams, etc) but if there was a way to have a more legitimate drawing process lottos can be a lot of fun and something to do with those .whatever BTC you have left.

As a vendor I have mixed feelings on this one - on one hand I think that lotto's can really distort a seller's ranking and feedback but perhaps if lottos were only allowed in a unique category dedicated to them it would make it easier to factor that into the seller's rank calculation and allow for more vendors to offer lottery's. Personally I'd happily offer several lotteries if managing them from a vendor interface point of view was easier and it was in its own category.

Im sure DPR might wanna smack me for suggesting this since it'd be a lot of coding on his end but if vendors could create automated raffle or lottery listings where its automated in randomly selecting a person and making transaction between the vendor and winner unique from the transactions between the losers (buying raffle / lottery tickets) so that it could be properly weighted in regards to vendor ranking and feedback profile.

From a UI point of view - I think that when creating a listing -> there should be a "Feeling Lucky" category for raffles, lottos, etc. If you select that category when creating the listing then it should have a mildly diff UI than the standard one that asks what you want to charge per ticket + how many tickets you wish to allow as the max + OR when you want the contest to end. Then once either the tickets sell out or the timer runs up it automatically sends a PM to both the vendor and buyer, and a 2nd PM informing all the losers that they were not chosen (sending those emails as a vendor if not automated would take forever and it'd be nice for the buyers to be notified so they dont wonder or wait - people want that instant gratification and not a delayed response from a vendor that they won). Could potentially create a huge market for regulated gambling via the SR which would be pretty fucking awesome.

Thoughts? Ideas?

nice thoughts JR.
i was also thinking maybe some type of special escrow system for lotteries. something like all the ticket buyers have to finalize to the main escrow fund or whatever and then when the drawing is held and the winner is determined. now SR would request something like a Proof of Mailing or DCN from the vendor (unless the vendor is trusted enough to just give their word) to release the profit from the lottery. i know it sounds like alot and there are some inherent flaws with the system. but this would be a sure fire way to keep scammers away from the lottery business given that you cant get your money from SR until you dispense the prize.

sorry i dont have time to read everything you guys wrote here about lottos - i def will later.

i just wanted to agree with splitting up the lottos into a different section of the main site.

also - what is being done to verify that these contests are legit and our vendors are being completely honest and fair?

sorry if this has already been discussed but i had to voice this before i forgot!

I'm new to all this, but I'm totally against lotto's . they distort the feedback ratings making us think the sellers good when they ain't.. either make a new lotto site/section for them, disable feedback on lotto's, or ban lottos from the site.
