Title: Is this Ketamine? Strange reagent test reactions
Post by: slybootz on July 06, 2012, 01:47 pm
So last week at Electric Forest Festival, my buddy ground scored a little plastic case with two gram baggies full of shards.  The shards looked very similar to grains of rice, white/clear and fairly uniform.  All ketamine I've gotten in the past has been either sugar-like crystals, or needle-like un-uniform shards.  However, I had read online of people receiving legit ketamine that looked like this.

I had my Mecke, Marquis, and Mandelin test kits on me, so we decided to test this ground score.  Even though only Mandelin tests for Ketamine, I ran a test with all three kits.  When I test my amazing ketamine with Mandelin, it usually goes orange almost immediately with some bubbling.

Here were the results:
Mandelin:  Color change to orange, but took about 30 seconds for a full color change. No fizz.

Mecke:  A fairly quick color change to a strange brownish-rust color with some bubbling.

Marquis:  Yellow, no real color change, but did bubble as a reaction.

I will have pictures posted tonight, once I get them off my iPhone and scrub data.

Any initial thoughts on what this could be?

Could be DXM, perchance? I remember when I tested DXM once a while ago I got similar test results. It would also make sense if it was expected to be similar to Ketamine.

That was my first guess, but Marquis is supposed to gradually turn grey to black from DXM, as far as I know.

I just finished scrubbing EXIF and GPS data from my pictures, once onion's image uploader stops being slow, I will have pictures.

Onion Image Uploader is still down for me, can anyone point me in the direction of another image host other than http://xfq5l5p4g3eyrct7.onion ?

ketamine won't react in useful ways with marquis or mecke

Correct, I realize that, but as this was an *unknown* substance, I figured I might as well use all three of my available test kits on this unknown substance.

Here are the pictures, finally:

What concerns me is the Mecke reaction, since brown usually means Cathinones.

Bump.  Anyone else want to take a guess as to what this mystery crystal was based on reagent tests?
