I liked bitinstant because i could make an order and then pay for it at walmart, very simple. Now that bitinstant doesnt work in my state I need the next best alternative that i dont need to use a credit card or bank account for. I've tried signing up for some of the other popular sites, but I cannot tell if they work with payment through walmart or MO etc.
-
I'm hoping you can tell me something. You seem to know more than I do. I want a site where I don't have to use a bank acct. I bought a green dot prepaid at Walmart. But fudge....I don't know what site uses anonymous prepaid cards. How were you able to buy bitcoins at Walmart? Can you offer me any good advice. Sorry for sounding completely ignorant.
-
frog i have ran into the same problem im wanting to find a vendor or anyone at that matter that i can buy bitcoins using green dot or money packs plz update if u find anything thanks
-
Do they have a list of states that they do and do not deal with?
-
bitinstant still works for me. i liked it better before it went beta though
-
I've not had any problems with BitInstant in my state - although I feel the same way as does Mcrad as far as liking them better before they changed it to where you pretty much have to create an account with them... but since there's not really anything preventing you from using fake info, that's not really that big of a deal to me. I hadn't heard before seeing this post that any other states are not dealing with BitInstant or vice verse...
A couple things to know though:
When you pay cash to buy BTC from BitInstant, you're not really buying the BTC from WalMart (as some seem to think), rather you're using MoneyGram - a separate entity, which just happens to be located among other places in most if not all WalMart stores, of which there are many - making it probably the most commonly used Money Gram location for most people.
Also, in case there is a State or several States in which BitInstant really doesn't operate, there are probably several other options for anonymous cash transactions. I haven't personally dealt with or know of any other than one which I've done business with and not had any problems.
Nanaimogold out of Canada accepts Western Union cash transfers and processes them fairly quickly. Even almost instantly if you care to pay an additional $7.00 (approx) fee for that service. I used w/u and didn't' pay the extra fee and my coins were in my wallet within a couple of hours after I made the transfer.. so... just my one experience with them. They don't ask for much in the way of personal info either... (I think though that overall, they are more expensive overall than BitInstant).. still, an alternative if you need one. AFAIK, they operate in all 50 States....

Try the #bitcoin-otc IRC channel on Freenode or localbitcoins.com. You can look for people willing to trade BTC for your MoneyPak, or you can create a sell order for it

Localbitcoins.com. you will meet and greet with seller, and do an even exchange for btc. Pay with cash. Meet in public place. Instant transfer of btc. Alot simpler than moneypak, and i'll never trust that fucking bitinstant ever again! Hope this helps

Thank you for this information!

I don't know much about Bitinstant anymore because they have been changing stuff around a lot lately, but I do know that their service sucks all the way around. Using fake info with Bitinstant can lead to them holding your payment until you contact them about it. Another thing that is annoying about Bitinstant is that if you make two similar payments in the same day, they hold one of the payments until you contact them in case one is a duplicate payment. They had a limit set at $500 per transaction, so it was necessary to make more than one payment to get more than $500 worth of coin loaded. When you buy bitcoin through Bitinstant, you are actually buying it through a California based company called ZipZap.

Have you used Bitinstant recently? Their new beta site required the birth-date to match the name. Now, they force you to register, and you have to take this quiz that they apparently came up with from a background check. Even if you get the answers right, you might have to take the quiz over again and answer a few new questions because their system still has bugs. It's extremely difficult to use phony information; not impossible, but difficult.

I placed a succesful bitcoin for moneypak order with HumboltGreenGarden, http://silkroadvb5piz3r.onion/silkroad/user/f9b3c1a971
He took only 3%, which was the lowest rate I could find on the road (July 3)
I placed the order before I went to bed, and when I woke up the BTC had been transferred. I am very excite

I had a issue with using a bank account.. But you get screwed on the surcharge/fee prices when you do it the other way.. So why don't you use a legit account if you can.. then have several block chain wallets and just randomly transfer the BTCs soo you stay anonymous . Would love a response from the Vets btw.

I don't want my real identity linked to any of my bitcoin accounts. I don't want to compromise my anonymity anywhere in the process.

If anonymity is priority numero uno, I suggest using a MoneyPak to BTC transaction through some of the vendors. They take a percentage, but maybe worth remaining anonymous.

which ones do the moneypaks???

Someone will but with the new regs its becoming tougher and tougher.

i noticed that bitinstant now doesnt offer there "pay as guest" option anymore. so now your required to create an account with them?

Just used BitInstant today in the US and service was quick. Got a confirmation email while I was still in the Grocery store. The fee is minimum, only $25 on $500 order and when compared to BoA transfers it beats it every time. Only downside is they require ID / sign up and the $500 maximum is a pain in the ass, but nothing is stopping me from making multiple transfers as far as I know. It took thirty - forty five minutes max to hit my BlockChain Account and then from there to SR it was an hour. It was a wonderful first experience and I plan to use them every time unless something awful happens. Oh and the best part about it when it hit my SR account I wasn't $25 short anymore but more like $18. Now, three hours later, I am four dollars away from breaking even.
I was so close to using BitStamp but if it weren't for BoA's ridiculous international charges (and domestic at that), and 2 to 5 business days to clear.
In my opinion, I hope BitInstant is here to stay.
This has been a wonderful day. Now excuse me while I go buy a big bag of drugs. :P

Well, theres apparently a void to be filled, so sooner or later it will be
lean back and relax in the meantime :)

True except for one part-- the information collected to form an account with the new Bitinstant Beta is verified against a national database. I used to use Bitinstant before they switched to doing it this way.
If you do attempt to give them false information OR if you're just new to the "system" (i.e. just turned 18 or have very little credit) the system will not be able to validate you. For me, I tried to use a tormail account and because of this along with my new address, they had no way of knowing exactly who I was and therefore would not allow me to complete my new account setup... and then I found localbitcoins. Depending on where you are you may be surprised how many people locally are trying to offload coin right now. At the time of writing this, BTC dropped down to a low of roughly 66-70 (depending on which exchange you check). This means there are more sales offering coin than there is demand for coin. Perfect time to buy imo.
As the price for BTC is beginning to climb and the word is spreading about localbitcoins, I'm beginning to see a correlation between the two.
Or I could be complete full of shit.
Either way, it's a great way to get faster coin, cheaper coin (wayyyyyy fewer transaction costs), and if you find someone you can repeat biz with you can pay with cash and use whatever names you want.
I'm on horse.
-
I gave up on Bitinstant when they started asking me questions about where I lived and what cars I owned like 30 years ago. I use Localbitcons now and the guy just meets me at Starbucks and does the transaction right there on his smart phone. No high fees, no anal probe.

Bitinstant really sucks for non-US

Eh it just kinda sucks in general. It's not really "instant" as the name implies and fees can become overwhelming with large amounts.

Every person I've seen that has given humbolt positive reviews on the forum were accounts created within the past week. Seems a bit risky, if you guys get your money and he's still going strong then I'll consider using him in a few weeks.

true, and many of the glowing vendor feedback is from 0btc orders, which could be placed numerous times by anyone with an account. but there was positive feedback left on orders for marijuana which can indicate they are at least sending out product and buyers are receiving it. no btc yet, but they sent me a status update message so we will see...
-
I gave him HumboltGreenGarden $280 MP about 19 hours ago. About 18 hours ago I asked him how long for the transfer. He sent me a message 5 hours later saying it would be 2 hours tops. That was 13 hours ago. I messaged him about 5 hours ago to check on things. I’m still waiting for the transfer and / or a response. Meanwhile, that listing is no longer there. I just looked at the listing 3 hours ago. It had to have been taken down some time over the past couple of hours. Listing was taken down but he still hasn't opened my messages. I will update when the situation changes.

this.
Please, newbies, do not use moneypak on SR for coins. This is the only way i've ever gotten burned in 2 years on the road. Local bitcoins is the best of the best, I've found, even when bitinstant was semi-easy. Still, bitinstant and any other transaction, outside of a face to face or escrow on local bitcoins, is traced, recorded, and logged. The localbitcoins CLEARNET (open new browsing session) is in my sig(it will tell you how to sign up with minimal invasive personal info) and here are a couple quick links on how to get started. Print them off, then use them as references when trading (it can be a bit confusing but it is a GREAT tool to buy/sell BTC annonymously)

Update:
I checked the MoneyPak and it still hadn't been touched. So I used it myself and told vendor to cancel order. I still haven't heard anything from this vendor. Its been almost 24 hours since I placed this order and he never touched the MP. Eventhough at one point he said 2 hours. Staying away from this guy and others like him. Learned my lesson and at least I got my money.

Didn't want to release details just yet, working with my coder to change a couple things quick. Main issue was locking in a price and then having the customer take to long to put funds in. Im hoping its live by Wednesday but I will most def start a thread when its launched.

The site looks great. I really hope it pans out. God knows there's a need. Whatever Bitinstant and Bitfloor did when things were good.. do that. Everything except the disappearing funds and company collapse parts. ;D

I got my last bath of BTC from Blue Sky Traders http://ok2yri46aaptiu2d.onion/index.htm and deposited cash at the local BOA no questions asked. Seems like they are having issues with supply right now but I would use them again.

Dude localbitcoins only charges like .003 for their buy online escrow, and the seller uploads the funds before you pay (MG/BANK/WU, ETC), and you have your coins in 60 mins or less. PM me if you want a reccomendation on seller I have used online escrow buys several times already. Top notch, he gets my full endorsement. Check my sig

you can do all of those things, it's at the vendor's discretion. But localbitcoins.com posts the same warnings/guidelines that SR does such as NEVER EVER EVER EVER FE or do transactions out of escrow, yet people do them time and time again. My online purchases have all been MP. Once you "purchase" an amount via an advertisement, that seller's btc is automatically placed into escrow, until you mark the payment as complete (ie, in my case, i sent anonymous MG). It is then up to the seller to release escrow, so you get your coins. It can be safely and effectively done. Fees imposed (Markup) by the seller overall do run around 15% for the more anonymous options (WU/MG) versus as low as 3% for things such as paypal, CC, MP, etc. Just like silk road, DO THE RESEARCH PEOPLE! ITS ALL RIGHT THERE IN CLEAR ENGLISH!

Why are you comparing MP to paypal/cc? How is MP not anonymous?
