Title: What's your currency?
Post by: username100 on August 21, 2012, 06:21 pm
What currency do you use?

If you do not use the dollar, would you like to be able to see prices on silk road in your currency?

--------

I would like to see prices in Euros. If the system operators can't peg euro prices directly to the bitcoin, pegging the euro to the dollar pegged to the bitcoin would be fine with me. It's very strange looking at prices in a foreign currency, especially when I'm in Europe and looking at european products - neither of us would want to use the dollar.

GBP!
Come on DPR. How long have people been asking for this?
You don't have to give vendors the option to peg their listings to other currencies (if that's the problem), just let the buyers see their own currency.
Apart from that, love the site. ;D

Personally I use USD, but on the site only use BTC because it makes it easier for me and less confusing.
I think there should definitely be a choice, GBP, Euro, CAD, USD... AUD.
It's not exactly fair that only a percentage of the people are able to see their country's currency. It also wouldn't be fair if only a small percentage didn't have their country's currency, so everyone should be able to see their currency.

When I convert my money to BTC it goes to my wallet (that isn't SR), so when I look at the prices on SR in BTC it's easier for me to see what I can afford and then transfer my BTC to SR. This way I do not have to have two different currencies it's all the same. I just keep it all BTC after I buy them. Also it is somewhat overwhelming seeing how much people charge for some things (like opioids, excluding methadone) so that isn't as obvious when it's in BTC form.
I recently tried to switch to USD view, it was confusing because with BTC I would automatically multiply by 10 or 12 to see about how much people are charging in USD so my brain would automatically try to convert the amount to USD when it was already there. I ended up switching back.

I think the euro should be on here also, but thats it.
