Title: Using Liberte to access the Internet
Post by: mynah000 on May 10, 2012, 06:33 am
Hello, I posted this in another thread as well, but I'm not quite sure where it belongs. I downloaded Liberte to a usb drive, and have no problem opening the program. When I try to use midori, however, i get a "forwarding error" message, and the same happens if I try to access the non-torified browser. I cannot access the internet through either of these at all, I just keep getting the same message. It says I am currently hooked up to my house's wifi, although a popup box asking for the wifi password pops up at least every minute. I'm not sure what's going on, any advice? And in simple terms, if you could...I'm not too computer savvy. ;) Thanks!

have you tried connecting via an ethernet cable? Try that to rule out wireless issues.

maybe your router firewall is blocking the port/device

I have a similar problem. Everything works fine on a fresh Liberte install, but after the first time I get the same problem as OP. I'm intrigued to see if anyone has a solution to this before I jump ship to Tails.

I always used wired.

Hey man, I had the same issue, the box kept popping up asking for the router password.

I was still getting some access wirelessly, but it was crashing the other Clearnet computers on the network.

So I got tired of continually adding the router password and I decided to plug in a cat-5.

BAM, now it works flawlessly.

I think Liberte Linux is a bit touchy with wireless, so  just plug in a cable and you'll be fine.

try using a different tor identity

I tried to do this, but I was also unable to use this function. However, I switched to a cat-5 as suggested and had no further problems. Thanks for all the suggestions! Luck to all the other people having similar problems.
