Title: UK Bitcoin users - for what it's worth...
Post by: MrRibena on October 27, 2011, 02:57 am
You can transfer GBP to Mt Gox via your UK bank account to their Natwest account. Takes 24-48hrs. Then transfer direct to your SR account which takes about 2hrs. It's free to import from bank account to MtGox as its a UK bank account. Since Britcoins account closed I was struggling to find a decent method of transfer.

Hope this helps.

HSBC has closed their bank account without warning, so they are not accepting bank transfer payments at the moment.

Then transfer direct to your SR account

NOT the greatest idea.

Why not? Not everything on SR is illegal. Secondly the bitcoin address cannot be associated to any particular website. Thirdly, from the SR FAQ: "Additionally, Silk Road employs a built-in tumbler that mixes all incoming bitcoins through a series of dummy transactions before they ever leave."

If you have good reasons why you don't think it's the greatest idea I'd like to know though. Always trying to improve security!
