Title: Another pleading thread for a PIN reset
Post by: panda1218 on November 01, 2012, 12:41 am
I hate to clog the forums with these threads, but it doesn't appear that anyone is getting a response in the last week or so at all. I know support are busy, but please, an admin account commenting on this thread would put a lot of minds at rest. There was a post saying support were flat out on fixing the problem, but it doesn't seem to be any better.

The whole thing is especially worrying, as pretty much no one has commented on the other threads that they have successfully had a new PIN reset in the last few days, and also that so many people are saying there is no way they forgot their PIN or were not asked for one in the first place.

I'm not expecting my account to get a new PIN instantly, I'm now just hoping I get one at all. This is a first purchase on SR for me, so I have no past experience with it to make me think it will all be OK. Some reassurance would be very much appreciated!! Thanks

Hey - I'm right there with you, only less apologetic about pestering the community  :P I originally made a purchase about 3 months ago. I finally came back a few days ago, and realized I didn't remember my pin at all.  I waited the 3 days as requested, and then responded to the note about a day ago. I have gotten no reply at all. I was sort of expecting it to be automated, but in either case, I'm seemingly locked out of making any purchases with a few hundred bucks tied up in SR, and stuck hoping they let me reset my PIN soon. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate the extra security layer, but the implementation seems a little rough.

Anyway I'm not sure what's going on, it could be hurricane related I suppose. For anyone one thinking about putting some bitcoins into SR, I might consider holding off for a few days until this gets resolved, unless you know your pin 100%

. . . So many people are saying there is no way they forgot their PIN or were not asked for one in the first place.

This is the exact situation for me, too. I understand skepticism when I say, "I was never asked to create a PIN." If someone said that to me, my initial reaction would be, "Yeah, right, you forgot it." However, I do have a rather bizarre memory (it's almost eidetic), so when I say that I know for a fact I was never prompted to make a PIN, those who know me are comfortable that it's 100% correct.

Putting that aside, I understand the pressure SR Support is under (especially with the site going down). I've only sent one message for that reason. But this is my first order, and I am on a bit of a time crunch, so reassurance would of course be appreciated. To all the admins, support personnel, and others who keep the site running, thank you for all you do. I know our PIN reset pleas are likely insignificant compared to whatever site issues are happening. But even a quick update would mean a lot!

My PIN has now been re set, after 10 days, and my coins are now rescued. For all those still waiting I sympathise, but I guess if my example is typical, then it is just a case of patience, and the process is working, albeit with huge delays.
Thanks for sorting out my problem SR support.
