I've got a surplus of hacked cable modems and I'm curious if anyone here is interested in them.
Why would someone want a hacked cable modem?
With a properly configured hacked cable modem you can get free internet! Also, with a properly configured hacked modem if someone requests/demands that your ISP gives up what the physical address to where your IP address is, they will send them to the poor sap whose modem you've cloned.
For years I've lined my pockets with my little hobby of selling hacked modems but recently things in my area changed. My area is dominated in all directions by one ISP who has tightened up their local security to the point where each modem sold requires too much personal attention to get it online and to keep it online. I'll invest the time for my family and close friends but I simply don't want to deal with 30 calls per week from jerks I hardly know, pissing in my ear about how their free internet stopped working. Security even for the national ISP's is configured at the local level and there is tons of information available online about hacking or cloning cable modems and DocSYS security in general. There are plenty of places throughout the USA and around the world with WIDE open security. Maybe with a little research you'll discover that you live in one of these area's and will want to take advantage of it.
All the modems are Motorola Surfboards model numbers SB5100, SB5101 or SB5101u
They all run the same hacked firmware, Haxorware Version 1.1 revision 39
All the modems will come with there original power supply and Ethernet cable.
I'm willing to ship them priority mail with a tracking number if you want.
I only want 50 bucks each including the shipping cost within the US.
For anything outside the US I'm thinking 45 bucks plus whatever the actual shipping costs are. If you're interested I can figure out the exact shipping costs if you simply message me here.
Please let me know if you have any questions and please let me know if you're interested here. Thanks

Do you have a vendor account?

I'm interested; however, it appears that Comcast in the NW USA isn't very friendly to this setup. Is that true or am I reading dated material?

Comcast has tighten security.
Not sure if clone protection is enabled yet. It was suppose to be the next step.
I don' want to spend the time cracking the security.
$50 would be worth it.
Sounds interesting.
Are you setting up an account?

We would need more information.
From what I know about cable companies it is rather easy to see what modem is registered to where, and where it is plugged in to. It took me hours to get my paid-for internet set up because they had to activate, turn it on, and have someone come to my house to verify the serial.
How easy is it to use? How do we use it? And the most important of all, how will we be sure it will work for us?
And again, if it must be stated, electronic hardware that connects to the internet bought through silkroad is always iffy. We never know who might be bugging it. I would have to have it verified by a reputable member to ensure our safety before I even considered a purchase.
I am interested but cautious.

So sense I used up all my coins on a few large transactions over the past 24 hours I'm going to need to wait till the morning to deposit some cash to buy some more coins so that I can pay to upgrade my account.
Hopefully by tomorrow afternoon I'll have upgraded to a vender account and will have a proper listing posted.
Check back here and I'll provide a link as soon as I can.
Thanks for the interest.

Like every other human on earth the people who work at the ISP's want to use the simple easy way to solve their problems. So when they need a physical address based off an IP address all they do is check the MAC address of the modem and see who it is registered to. While it may be possible to get a general location based off an IP address, this is basically worthless unless you live in an extremely rural area, for anyone to try to narrow it down to a single address would take such a large investment of time, money and effort that you would have to practically be a terrorist before anyone would do it.
Regarding the ease of use, this all depends on your skill level with these kind of things and most importantly how tightly your ISP has things locked up.
Until about a year ago I would have said your average 12 year old has the required skill set to get free internet because all you had to do was check a few boxes on the settings web page of the hacked modem, input any random MAC address and then change the DNS server on your computer and BAM free internet. Now, in my area, I must use a perfect 1to1 clone of a provisioned modem from a paid account, with matching certs and MAC address and it has to be from a far enough away node to be able to beat the ISP's clone detection. Every area is different, a good thing to check would be if your area still supports docSYS 1.0 hardware because if it does then there are some huge holes that can't be closed until the ISP ends support for the legacy hardware. The worst case scenario is that your ISP has things locked down like fucking fort knox but even then you you could perfectly clone a friends modem from the other side of town and save money every month by splitting one bill or clone someones modem and don't tell them, that way you have no bill. Plus, there are ways to get MAC addresses with matching certificates online.
There are so many variables involved in this hobby that if this is something your interested in and you don't have any experience go to sbhacker.net and read, read read. They have all the basic information there and if you're smart enough to figure out how to take advantage of SR I'm sure you can figure out the real potential of hacked modems.
Regarding the fear that someone could mess with something, I totally understand that concern and would absolutely want to be able to cover my ass if I was getting something like this from a site like SR. The good news is that all the software and firmware in the modem hacking community is totally free and open source. It is really simple to check the integrity of everything and you can completely overwrite the firmware and everything on the modem with something you download from somewhere you chose with just a few clicks of the mouse. It would be very simple to completely erase any trace of the previous firmware and settings.
