Title: Expanding shipping worldwide but doing it OOE
Post by: madamebradley on December 09, 2011, 06:28 pm
If a vendor doesn't ship to your country, but you really want to order from them, would you want the opportunity to buy from them if it was conditional on early finalization?

I only ship* to Canada and the USA because I want to stay within escrow. However I've considered changing it to ship pills worldwide but require buyers to finalize early. I know Pharmville does this with great success but I'm wondering if the practice would be accepted by lower ranked vendors. I've been around #80 for a while - I'd check right now but I can't connect :( - so I'm like a mid-size vendor, a mom-n-pop store in a world where Pharmville is a multinational corporation.

For instance I'm selling Dexedrine right now but only to Canada and the US. Is there anyone outside those countries who want to buy it and are willing to go out of escrow? Or is this an idea that is unacceptable in the current pro-escrow climate?

*Except glassware which ships worldwide

Hi madamebradley

Sorry but I'm not replying to your offer of internationally shipped dexies but I just wanna share my input with you.

I stay in South Africa and shipping usually takes 2 to 3 weeks max. From Europe it is always 2 weeks. The US it can take 10  to 20 days to reach me...
From Canada it takes 3 weeks plus maybe 3 or 4 extra days.
From Asia it takes roughly 2 and a half weeks.

If a seller is offering products only domestically, I will query that and ask for an international shipment. Now because he/she is going out of his usual habits and shipping internationally, I then make the deal so that I finalize payment before it gets shipped. This is only fair to the seller as I have asked them to go out of their way with an increased risk for them. I only do this with established Vendors though, so as to minimise risk of myself not getting scammed...

So what I am saying is that if a seller has a great REP, then I will take a risk and finalize early if they are doing an international order. I ahve done this about 8 times but only from highly respected sellers and have not had a single problem. I do also keep the purchase amounts small, then come back for a larger order if all goes well.

Also based on my REP now, I have a large number of transactions, been on SR for almost 3 months with 0% auto-finalize rate and refund rate. Sellers tend to allow me to stay in escrow obviously based on their locations as a lot of the time the orders arrive within 20 days and then I don't have to finalize early but once I receive the product then it becomes business as usual and I pay once received.

Sorry if I provided a little bit of off topic info, I'm currently tweaking, so sorry for the small rant!

Hehe, no problem, this is the kind of information I'm looking for. (I'm not here to peddle my wares) . Just wondering how people view this issue. :)
