Title: Creating USPS acct online - Can I get some opinions?
Post by: BE HERE NOW on April 06, 2012, 11:09 am
I found a thread with some info on this but I'm seeking further clarification. Sorry if this is too newb a question.

I was thinking would it work if an account was created using a real random return addy, created on a non-true-home connection, using Tor, and paying with prepaid debit card?

Can anyone explain how printing at home can be dangerous and generally if say using a library computer would help and then say bullzipping to pdf the label, dropping to zip disk and printed at home or kinkos etc... I would imagine one to three sends would be max on the acct. Would this definitely not work or are there possibilities to stayin anom?

Enlighten me.

Do NOT use Tor to log onto UPS. They have most Tor exit node IP addresses flagged.

Why not just print labels at home, buy stamps at post office, and drop letters off in blueboxes?

Anon ? Yes.

I visited the main USPS site using Tor.  That shouldn't be a problem should it?

unless you provided them with some sensitive information during your TOR session, like tracking number.

Please provide proof that the USPS has TOR exit nodes flagged.  I've heard both sides but never something solid put forth to prove anything.

Labels at home and blue boxes sound best method possible. But that's only for first class correct??

Do some people stick DCN stickers on and add extra stamps for extra amount? I know you can also print out at kiosks whatever stamp cost you want, but I wouldn't want to buy higher cost stamp stickers, and probably need to use a cash bought pre-paid debit card to use at kiosk.

And what if you do enter in tracking while using tor? Does your info change if you change identity through Vidalia control panel? I've been changing it regularly just in case.

Basically it's about figuring out how to BEST ship priority without walking in PO or other ship store. Hopefully some smarties can shed some light on this.

Is it altogether bad to use the site through tor? We all really need to get everyone and their mother to use tor so it's widely used.

Any other help?

If you check your tracking through tor on USPS there is a high chance your package will be flagged for inspection and it will bring a lot of unwanted attention to the receiver of the package, including potential loss of the package, etc.

I got an order once that was mailed with a label printed using one of the online postage systems. They may not work with prepaid cards.

It spooked me out as these things keep records of all the mail you process with it.

Maybe there is a way to use paypal, load with MP and then ship online? Probably very easy to do at the library or neighbor wifi. Paypal watches IP addresses very closely, so no tor.

I've done this plenty of times and have not lost a single package.

Again, please provide proof of your claims.
