Title: PGP in SR messenger??
Post by: Thehox on September 17, 2013, 07:58 pm
Hello everyone,

Pardon me if this is an insanely stupid question, but is it possible to use PGP for the standard SR message system? Or is it only possible via email?

I have been struggling to find out about this, any help is greatly appreciated.

Say I want to send my address to seller, how is this done the most safe way with PGP?

Best regards

Yes you can use PGP encryption in PMs on the forum, messages on the marketplace and the address field.

Okay, you don't know how to use PGP.  Download a PGP program and watch a short and simple youtube tutorial.  It can;t get any easier than that.

I think I explained it wrong.. My question would rather be: can I only send PGP messages via an email client? I have sent several encrypted mails, but I don't want to use my mail for sending messages to Silk road?

You can send PGP encrypted messages in PMs on the forum, in posts on the forum, in messages on the marketplace and in the address field on the marketplace.

Okay, but what do I do with the recipients PGP key? I know these are all stupid questions, but on the wiki it just says you send an email with the PGP key, it says nothing about how to do it on the marketplace..

As I said earlier, you do not know how to use PGP encryption.  Sending a message with the PGP key in it does nothing at all.  You need PGP software.  Import the vendor's public PGP key into the software and use it to encrypt the message then send the encrypted PGP block.

Is there any PGP software you don't have to install, just open like the Tor bundle?
