So, Bitfloor has this message up on their blog.bitfloor.com:
"I am sorry to announce that due to circumstances outside of our control BitFloor must cease all trading operations indefinitely. Unfortunately, our US bank account is scheduled to be closed and we can no longer provide the same level of USD deposits and withdrawals as we have in the past. As such, I have made the decision to halt operations and return all funds.
Over the next days we will be working with all clients to ensure that everyone receives their funds. Please be patient as we process your request.

I have BTC in there that I was just about to trade for CASH and I missed the deadline by about 5 minutes (6PM EASTERN).
Any recommendations on BTC->Netspend vendors??
This is crazy!!

:o That really sucks. I used them...though luckily for me I only had some change in my acct. I hope you don't get screwed.
-
Son of a bitch!
I recently cleaned out my account, but this is definitely gonna make things a bit more difficult.
Looks like I, as well as others I'm sure are going back to fight the herds trying to get their early orders in to BST.
Crazy. Glad I found out about it now, so I can plan ahead for next time. Thanks for posting this, man.

is there any other sites similar to bitfloor that accepts cash deposits and has a trading platform?

They are allowing withdrawals to other BTC wallets - so I just did that back to my SR wallet - so I don't think anyone will get ripped off. They said that anyone who has funds (in cash), they will be 'working with them' to get their funds to them right away.
My only concern now is WHY did this happen?? Fed raid? Do the feds have my ID now? FUCKKKK!!!
-
Damnit!!
^^yeah, seriously, i'm very curious/worried now.
fuck.
And now I need another option for a bank deposit(or rather a cash deposit) to buy btc. Any good ones guys? I used moneygram/bitinstant/mtgox for the longest time and would rather not anymore

Blue Sky Traders is what haberdasher is referring to when he says BST - also, I have another thread (in my signature) dedicated to bitcoin exchanges - it has reviews and other experiences from not only BST, but other vendors as well. Needless to say, that thread will likely be a hot topic for a minute.

Did you ID yourself somehow NOD? Like I used fake name, a tormail, & walked into a bank anonymously. Transferred to a few wallets before SR.

Yeah this has been something CanadianBitcoins has been dealing with up here. They have had 2 bank accounts closed ....
This is the biggest hurdle to BTC in Canada/USA ... Banks shut it down.
-
can someone please post the link to BST
Here you go: you can search blueskytraders on SR or their actual tor website is:

WTF :o >:(
It seem effort to shut down BTC bank account recent. Few other big vendors also shut down accounts recent now exchange go down with no detail.
-
Too sudden and unexpected. Must be something else going on. (like a fed takedown)

Hello everybody, hope everyone is doing well.
I recommend BitStamp.net as the new TOR-friendly, anonymous bitcoin (BTC) trading exchange.
Bitstamp requires no ID, only a fake name and an e-mail, and then you can deposit coins from any wallet or from your now-defunct BitFloor account. After about 20-30 minutes, your account is funded, and you may begin trading. And as you were able to do so with BitFloor, you can always transfer your BTC's to another BTC address (for instance, to SR when you need to make a purchase) with BitStamp too.
Happy trading, and spread the +karmic love
Your friend shooting infinite love from this side of hyperspace to yours,

Nothing personal about BST but meeeehhhhhhh...I just feel more comfortable using a commercial bitcoin trader. Just me personally.
THis might be a pathetic attack on the Bitcoin/darknet community. to me its a pretty desperate move.
I think the Feds will be pretty tied up with these recent terrorist attacks, putting SR on the back burner. BUT you can expect our mail to be screened a lot closer. with all the Recent Ricin attacks in the USA you can bet that the USPS will be upgrading their postal security process. maybe better Xrays and such...
That's what crossed my mind. I heard about that...awesome.

Hello everybody, hope everyone is doing well.

By looking over saying cash deposits, take this to mean you can not do cash->BTC here, correct? ;)
-
They had a bunch of debt due to being hacked last year. They had a lendor that took care of their losses but they probably couldnt make on their payments and got shut down.

I don't understand your question. Cash deposits are taken at bitstamp just as anywhere else, since they give you a btc address, so you can use moneygram or any other method where USD to BTC address is possible. Or you can simply transfer BTCs from a wallet or your old bitfloor account to bitstamp, as I did. I am a BTC daytrader, I don't solely use BTC for SR purchases. And Bitstamp is way more fluid/strong of a service client than bitfloor, and they also have a much higher market share.
GL!

+1 I didn't know anything about that - I would've definitely been more cautious about leaving any money on there if I had known that... I never left a lot, but any loss would've pissed me off had I not done some simple research.
-
Fuuuuck. Bitfloor was always flawless for me. RIP :(
-
Thanks for the info guys.... I guess bitstamp it is...
-
thats rough, hate to see em go. there will always be someone to take their spot though

Bitstamp is the way to go. I use them and CampBX occasionally when I am looking to sell. BX has a smaller user base so prices tend to bounce more.
Before everyone freaks out about USPS I'd settle down. To start they are already hurting financially and extra security = extra $$$. On top of that I'm not sure that it's the responsibility of USPS to provide that type of screening on top of what they already do. The sheer volume they handle makes it impossible to stop everything which is why high value targets/addresses already have the extra screening in place. Unless you are shipping drugs to a Congressman, Senator, etc I really don't see any reason why extra scrutiny would be placed on domestic packages. I'm sure postal employees will be briefed on extra security measures but I wouldn't expect any new technology outside of what is already in place.
Bottom line is you can never be too safe. If you aren't already using a vendor with excellent stealth then that should be your first concern. Outside of that I wouldn't expect any ground breaking changes in USPS protocol. If your vendor isn't already using acceptable stealth you need to ask them to get on board or you need to get off.
But yeah, BitStamp is the way to go. :)
