are you talking about bitcoin mining? Man you need thousands of dollars in equipment to do that. It needs it's own dedicated source of electricity and high dollar video cards. I can build you a mining system if you got the money. If that isn't it then please sned me the pdf as well

law 40: despise the free lunch.

What is offered for free is dangerous—it usually involves either a trick or a hidden obligation. What has worth is worth paying for. By paying your own way you stay clear of gratitude, guilt, and deceit. It is also often wise to pay the full price—there are no cutting corners with excellence. Be lavish with your money and keep it circulating, for generosity is a sign and a magnet for power.

Being open and flexible with money also teaches the value of strategic generosity, a variation on the old trick of "giving when you are about to take." By giving the appropriate gift, you put the recipient under obligation. Generosity softens people up—to be deceived. By gaining a reputation for liberality, you win people's admiration while distracting them from your power plays. By strategically spreading your wealth, you charm the others, creating pleasure and making valuable allies.

Judging by the fact that the techno-gods on the forums think PDF's are unsafe without VM-isolation, I'm going to go ahead and say this is probably an LE-virus to catch IPs or a hacker-virus to steal bitcoins.

its definitely not a virus just a plain pdf file. but you say i could have got paid for this?

let us know what you experience with it and I'll share my thoughts as well in a few minutes

It's a good little read but there are some for seeable problems I would expect. If you don't have a good video card then you would want to use the cpu method which overclock your processor and burn it up. If you dont have a quad core or bigger then it would probably be the only thing your computer could be doing at the time.

It may be worth the effort. Right now a good video to steal is the political ones and only the most resent ones and on a daily basis as well. The ron paul vids have brought me thousands of hits. Also jim carrey videos bring in the hits.

If anyone has tried this yet please let us know

are you really using this method and what kind of hard ware are you using? I'm guessing you got a good video card and not an on board card. Are you using a single core, dual, or quad core? Is it intel or AMD?

Right, so it seemed pretty straightforward - the link was just pdf file - nothing sinister.

You set up an account on tripleminer, and the account is linked to what appears to be a mining pool - still ok.

Enter your details - email, bitcoin address, timezone, amount and frequency of payouts - seems harmless.

Then you download an .exe file for 'silent mining' - which is how I assume you must embed your capacity to silent min in torrents, or youtube or whatever.  Didn't get past this as Kaspersky immediately picked it up as a win.32.trojan and given the capacity for this to track and steal info, I immediately disinfected and rebooted.

Sorry socrackedout - cannot vouch for this and am unwilling to let this loose on my pc, even though keygens etc test as trojans, and they're harmless.  Too much to lose.

This method is called for infecting member trough Pm via forums not a method for earning free btc.
The topic author is trying to infect members of this forum with his trojan witch is against the fuckin rules.  >:(
Someone bann the author of this topic before he infect others.

The bitcoins aren't free, they have an electrical cost associated with them. POSSIBLY the reason the stealth-miner shows up as a virus is because it's designed to not show up at all (which is a virus-like thing to do). Anyway, you wouldn't have been able to charge for it. Bitcoin Mining is a well-known thing. It is, literally, how new bitcoins are "made".

yes exactly . without the bitcoin miners the bitcoin economy would crash but the economy is mostly fed by the monster operations. I was too afraid to download any links in that pdf. Thanks zapatista36 for taking the risk +1

I did do a little research and it seems that the gpu method is dying out and being replaced by the FTGA method anyway. It's supposed to be more cost efficient. In Octobe this year it looks like the block reward will half again causing the value of bitcoin to drop drastically. Even the most efficient way to run a big operation would be to do it where the climate is cold so that you could use the heat generated by the system. So that by paying the big electric bill you could save on the heat bill part of it

FPGA actually, and that's about to die off too. Butterfly Labs is going to be putting out their BitForce SC devices in October, which are ASIC-based and will, if the reported numbers are accurate, blow the competition out of the water. After October, the only choices will be not to mine or buy a BitForce SC.

And my prediction is that the above, in combination with the Minting Rate being halved soon, will result in the value going up.

Bit a correction for you, Ralph: The block reward being halved isn't likely to decrease bitcoin value. It doesn't affect the market(ie, the coins being actively traded) in any way AT ALL and it reduces the supply of new coins. As per the law of supply and demand, that suggests the value will actually go up. In addition, marginal-miners(gpu/fpga users) will likely be dropping off in droves because of that plus the BitForce SCs. So the result should be, and I could be wrong, but I expect it should be that the relative-difficulty will lower(per user with a BitForce SC device) due to the GPUs and FPGAs dropping out and the price will increase. It should balance out somewhere around...

Well, I'm just going to throw out a bullshit pair of numbers. If I'm right, y'all can call me Nostracannabus. ;)

Difficulty: Around 20million-ish. (Give or take a million)
USD-value: Around $25(Give or take $2)

Oh right, and the date for that. Let's say... 1.5 months after the rate is halved. It'll take time for the market and miners to adjust, after all.

Thanks for the correction Blarg. I had red some about the ASIC method taking over. This bitcoin mining pool seems a little dis honest kind of like stealing. I also read that if you set up a big enough network that you could take control of the bitcoin network for short amounts of time.

Hey N0rco - def not a wallet stealer, just a pdf.

So when just a PDF shows up you automatically assume that it's safe? There are enough exploits and ways to infect a PDF, ah well what ever floats your boat.

What Guru says is correct it's definitely illegal.\but so is being caught with an ounce of meth you just bought off the internet ... so we all have a bit of flexible interpretation on what's 'highly illegal' and worth pursuing or not, choose as you wish.

The PDF is not a virus and there's an easy way to check that in the future, go into your basement, pull out that old 486 machine you used a decade ago, install a pdf reader and open it offline.

The payload ("Silent Bitcoin Miner") is sloppy at best, as guru just showed it's not FUD (3/42) so just throw it in the garbage.  There are several silent bitcoin miner's on hackforums that are FUD, but the creators want money for them (not much mind you).  Ineveitably though you'll have to find a crypter for your payload if you want it to remain functioning and not be caught by a virus scanner.

If you're not familiar with black hat hacking, jumping into by deploying a stealth bitcoin miner is not a good idea at all, you've got a lot to learn before you want to distribute a 'virus' (the silent bitcoin miner) that mines to a pool that could potentially be linked back to you.  Most viruses remain completely detached from their creator, a silent bitcoin miner on the other hand coalesces right back to it's creator by the mining pool account you have it set to mine to.

Tread carefully with this kind of black hat hacking, know what you're doing and for god sakes stop with the "I won't open a PDF it might be a virus" crap, go find an ancient machine collecting dust in your home that will never be used again and open it on there while of course being disconnected from the internet.
