Title: Anybody in Japan (or been or want to)?
Post by: holyhell2 on September 04, 2012, 03:21 pm
Probably a long shot, but hey...

I'm new and I've seen plenty of a the vibe that you're dumb to give much info about yourself so I'll just leave the question at that for now!

Japan?

Dangerous place dude. Radiation.

Japan is fucked, and should have been abandoned 18 months ago.

Haven't been there but will definitely go. I've been planning to live there a year for quite a while now. Being white/black in Japan is like being a superstar. Should be easy to slay some poon there.

Lived there.  Let me know if you got any questions.  And to the dude who said it is dangerous due to radiation... sorry, not true.  I wouldn't visit a damaged reactor, but the WHOLE country isn't dangerous.  You want an entire country to just up and leave?  These people had a couple atom bombs dropped on them and then turned their country into a world power.  They will be fine.

uh no Sorry,

the US bombed them in WW2 and then rebuilt their country for them.

And they will tell you, Thank You for rebuilding our country.

You dont sound like youve ever been there.

And that country is so radio-logically fucked, its polluting the whole world.

And they are rewriting text-books as we speak so no-one will think its as bad as it is.

LOL Yes, your right.  The US rebuilt Japan.  Sony, Toyota, Honda, Canon, Nikon, Mitsubishi, etc.  All American companies.

Lived in Japan for over two decades, never once saw any Americans building anything.  Your post has some vague notion of reality in that they the US is Japan's closest ally and certainly assisted them.  Everything else you said points to you being the most gigantic idiot on this planet.

Most Japanese textbooks were written a long ass time ago.  Why would they be re-writing textbooks about an incident that is not even in textbooks?  Are you a lunatic?

Are Japan, only way i could find my way around Nichome was the radiation and the truly original and still the best meth ever [had a bit more serotonin and dopamine kicking 20 years ago], got friends they wont leave and there close to X, they stood on a headland at there house in Chiba and watched the ocean suk out to see. The big fear now is not the radiation but the oncoming tsunami of asbestos related disease and it will be massive but then so is the current and ongoing mentall illness crisis. Hey those Japanese are adapters and tough fuckers. Japan will survive while there is still one bowl of Gohan to be had.

Was wondering about SR in Japan. Not the most drug friendly town but then you would have to be  seriously braindead to get done. Have heard its pretty wired with party stuff for both Nihonjin and Gaijin

Good Luk, dont eat fish or anything from China

Thank you for posting just now to save me from the lunacy of that other person Sands.  Shipping drugs to Japan is really risky.  My friend got in big trouble when one of his buddies ship just a gram or two of weed.  They seriously harassed him and made him write a letter of apology.  He had to go to the main customs department in Narita and read his apology.

dude use a search engine, the entire world is GLOWING now.

and the US did rebuild Japan like they are about to do with Iraq.

Toyota isnt an american company but you can bet they received aid and other help.

You will laugh about Iraq too. But in a Year come back to this thread.

I am not laughing about anything.  The US did not rebuild Japan.  They did assist.  You make it sound like the Japanese people didn't rebuild their own country.  There was a time in 80s when Americans were afraid that Japan was taking over the US.  Now its the Chinese.  But my point is, the Japanese did that, not Americans.  The Japanese rebuilt their own country.

I don't want to say how long I've been here as it feels like identifying info, but it's most of my adult life a huge chunk of anyone's life. Realizing the subcultures of the west I've missed out on I now suddenly want the fuck out, but how do you leave the only place you know?

But anyway thought I'd just see if there were any fellow expats here.

My wife and I lived in Japan for 3 years. We loved every minute of it, from the food, outdoor activities, to the people.
America cannot claim to have rebuilt Japan, but they played a big part. Mostly in the selling of cheap home building materials, you will see most of the homes in the country side built with concrete. America is still involved in the government but now everything is mostly military related. Japan is not allowed to have offensive military capabilities so the U.S. has taken up those responsibilities.
I don't know anything about the re-writing of textbooks concerning the Fukashima nuclear power plant disaster but nothing would surprise me. The Japanese government recently re-wrote textbooks concerning the atrocities committed on Okinawa citizens during world war 2. Resulting in mass protest on the islands down there.

Haha it only gets stranger and stranger with your food options once you step outside of the realm of traditional hamburger joints :P

Pickled fish eyes and weird vegetable and cow part combos.... Plenty of white sticky rice (an all time personal favorite goes fantastic with everything)

I've always wanted to try poutine, but never seen sight of it in Japan.

You'd have no trouble with food, although some people would insist it would be a waste to stay inside your comfort zone.

I'm not one of those people however and I would suggest seeing how they do things with steaks and such at a family restaurant (the standard hamburg steak with a fried egg is the staple), or checking out the Jpn-specific makudonarudo menu items (bacon potato pie bitches!), and any other number of Japland takes on Western foods.

well you gotta come to canada to try poutine.. its really good but you gotta find the little hole in the wall restos for the superduper poutine..

No matter where I travel I always stay in my comfort zone for food... its like this barrier I have in my head since I was young most probably due to the fact that I was allowed to eat whatever I wanted growing up...
"oh mom your making fish??? I think I'll have some mcdeez instead "

looks like that backfired... now I hate trying new foods and even when I do I will most probably hate it.. unless its some sort of beef or chicken....then I'm cool!

Learn this

“Bigu Macu Seto, kudasai"

"Drinku?"

"Cora"

You get fat, but at least no live shit on your plate.

Oh the fries are terrible something to do with not growing potatoes...

They definitely don't use sweet potatoes.  Never noticed anything different about the french fries, although I would not be surprised to hear they are made different.  Taste just as good to me.  I especially like when they offer the shake shake potato.  You get to choose one of a few types of seasoning packets.  You take your fries, dump them in the bag, dump in the seasonings, then...shake, shake!

Japan is a fucking cool, albeit extremely different place to go/live.  I have friends who I have visited twice there - Tokyo and Hiroshima - and I loved it.  Culture shock?  Kinda.  But once you get over yourself and realize how crass the massive commercial culture is wherever you are, and hang out with folk who live there, then you get a real sense of the place.

Get lost on the Tokyo train system for a few hours, even a day, that's an experience, especially when you really don't have a clue how to communicate properly, and are hoping you know the number of the platform you're looking for, and how to say it correctly if there's no sign about.  I spent 3 months learning Hiragana before I went, only to discover that's like learning about a third of our alphabet and knowing how to make vowel sounds.  Then you get hit with Katakana and Kanji and realise you are fucked, and ask politely if the person speaks English.  My friends have lived there for years and are fluent verbally, but struggle to read the newspaper.

I love seafood and if you do to you will be spoiled for choice - had dudes in bars and restaurants trying to make me puke with various types of raw and bizarre-looking fish, but they were great.  Proper sushi and sashimi, fucking delicious.  But you can get decent pasta and pizza outlets, and burger joints all over the place if you ain't so adventurous.  But they have this 'delicacy' - can't remember what it was called - but it tasted like bins smell - wasn't a big fan of that.

Sounds like you're talking about "natto" - it's a fermented bean curd or something if I remember right.  One of the most vile things on the planet.

Lived in Tokyo for 5 years. Speak and write Japanese fluently. Looooove the place...especially Tokyo (Shibuya rocks).

Plan to go back one day and will probably live in Kyuushuu or Okinawa if the yanks ever leave.

So, if your white/black and go there like what are the odds of being hit on in bars purely out of the different ethnicity? I know indian chicks have a thing for white guys.

In order for the yanks to leave, they need to topple the current government and leave the country into chaos!! 8)
So, dont hold your breath there mate.

There are places you can go where you are CERTAIN to get laid by virtue of being a gaijin (foreigner). I recommend Gas Panic in Roppongi. There are usually a bunch of girls waiting near the door...offer to buy them a drink, be polite and bingo....

Yes, it's fermented soya beans...a challenge for sure....

ha I have been there, and another place, where if you do fifteen shots or something like that you get a little plaque on the wall. That was a mad night, never made it onto a plaque though.
