Looking to purchase some labware for small experiments, learning, and general mischief. I COULD order it at an online store, however, my libertarian sensibilities make me too sensitive about the government's prying eyes. :)
I'd be interested in purchasing from someone with a good buying/selling history on SR. Looking for almost everything, Erlenmeyer flasks, beakers, lab stands, distillation equipment, a hot plate/stirrer (for the right price), boiling flask, condenser, and joints.
Saw some glassware up a while back, but sadly I was too slow :'(
...And just to show my suspicions are not completely unfounded: http://www.thesmokinggun.com/documents/crime/got-it-e-bay

Damn, I've been kinda thinking about the same thing. Not for sale, but cooking up some rarer chems for my own use, the ones I can't find elsewhere. I don't think I have enough chemistry knowledge to really do that myself, yet, though. I wish you the best of luck, man.
Mind me asking what you're planning on making? I'm just kinda curious. =]

A variety of things, still working them out, including the concentration of otherwise dilute chemicals (muriatic acid and such).
Also, bumping the thread

Our conversation yesterday made me realize that SR is lacking in lab glassware. Your right to not want to buy it off of the clearnet as big brother really is watching.
-
I'm sure we could get some people to just specialize in legal trades for selling on SR; things that you can legally buy, but look suspicious when you do. It's also not illegal to sell them over the darknet, so they wouldn't have any legal troubles. As long as they didn't do anything else illegal (=P) they'd have some great stuff going.
-
This is definitely a good idea, and has never really been utilized. Someone had a bunch of labware up in the past, but it was ungodly expensive. I would bet that glass and basic lab reagents would sell really well.

That's part of the problem with trying to resell glassware. It's already pretty expensive as it is. With a black market markup, it's going to be outrageous.

Your fear is little overreacted. Usualy people are arrested or busted for other things. With search warrant they want to find source of glassware amd other stuff.
Buying glassware does not arose suspicious and they certainly did not get busted because glassware shopping. there are million stores around.
You have glassware shop everywhere online and flasks bakers has common use in many other activity perfectly legal.
If you are afraid to buy legal things how you would do anything illegal, just use common sense guys and dont panic over nothing?

There are various factors that go determine the level of risk in buying glassware. To be fair, I'm very much a newb and I've never even attempted to buy. Still, I read all the information I could find on the topic at one point just because I was interested.
The thing that is stressed more than any other is the size of the glass. While a couple of small beakers and flasks could be used at a residential address for a chemistry hobby, there is little reason for the same customer to order a 10 liter round bottom flask other than bulk clandestine synthesis. On that same note, most say that certain equipment is watched more, such as round bottom flasks. Finally, beware of eBay. I can't find the article at the moment, but people have been raided based on their eBay purchases.
Anyway, this is just a collection of tidbits that stuck in my memory over the years. If you want to hear the full story from the horse's mouth, go on chemistry forums and start reading. People make suggestions as to which glassware suppliers are reliable and safe as well, which is worthwhile advice.
-
Are you saying that glassware supplier have to report purchases to LE? Because they dont. Because that is mandatory for real watched or restricted stuff (e.g. poisons chemicals and listed chemicals). I disagree with term "watched" when directed to glassware. Look for what is used and in what industry.
Glassware is legal to sell and can not be used for a warrant or similar legal act against a buyer. Those articals are connected only with the fact that somebody bought something on ebay but that is not a cause for the bust of that individual(s).
There are numerous things where you need glassware - this attitude "they will arrest me if I buy an flask" is bad.
For others so called "watched" there is no obligation for such and many people are posting such no sense and only bring unjust fear among others.
Anyhow, hearsay is never good and take it with a grain of salt.
Dont get me wrong, I do understand why people are uneasy of buying glassware. Who knows for what people are busted, I assume because some illegal activity and not because they bought lab equipment over ebay.
Anyhow, you can buy directly, go in person to the shop, order, pay in cash and go away, nobody will ask you anything, simple. Some things is better to buy in person then order online with mail service.
Little comparasion: If somebody purchase offset print machine - he will be suspicious to counterfeit money?
btw
round and the flat buttom flask? Did you watch that on breaking bad?
-
back when i bought a lot of mine, it was easy enough on ebay ;) Sorry im not selling

I believe there are state rules to consider as well. I've seen it mentioned Texas requires a permit for certain types of glassware. Other states may have rules regarding it too. Unfortunately, meth is a real epidemic and I doubt there's a LE officer anywhere whose not going to go apeshit over finding anything resembling lab glass works outside a corporate, industrial or educational environment.

going to lab store with cash is cool, but ordering online or ebay, definate no-no...
Ebay keeps track of that shit and is SO quick to phone the DEA its not even funny.
Is that really the case? IMO, I think buying in cash at a lab store looks suspicious. Just a few items can easily tally up to $1000+ and you're just gonna whip out a wad of cash. A much better scenario is to get a prepaid credit card in the name of your fake ID and use it for the purchase. To go one step further, get an address *only* associated with the fake ID as well, preferably a business address in an industrial park, and buy the items online with the CC in the fake ID name, shipped to that address. Buy up an assortment of solvents and supplies then ditch the address. A bit of work, but that is your safest play.

man, they even sell safflower oil on goddamn ebay. WHY DO THEY TEASE YOU LIKE THIS FUCK
-
I personally don't have too many chemical supply stores near me. I think if people started listing glass labware, though, it would have to be extra expensive to cover possible damage during shipping. =/

There was a vendor on here about a month ago offering lab glassware and yes her/his prices were INSANELY stupid ($45 for a 100ml grad cylinder? fuck that). After seeing those postings I almost considered getting an inventory of glassware on here going (cuz I would have easily undercut her by 50% and still made 50% more profit then what they cost), but as you said it's just not worth it to ship glass, well especially internationally. Only way i'd ever consider listing glassware is if the buyer agrees to all responsibility, and that if anything did break I cannot refund them any money. I'd be out of business in the first week.
It's an asinine demand to make of the buyer, but really the only way if you want a vendor to step up and start filling that void of SR for glassware, just too much of a liability for the vendor otherwise. If people are interested in such an arrangement I can dust out my old supplier accounts and see what I can list, but again it would require that rather asinine commitment.
As someone said a few posts back, it's not illegal to buy labware at all (but there are pieces of specialized equipment/glassware that will raise a flag with the company). If you go in there clean shaven and well dressed, act as if you adore the company since their prices are lower then company X which they hate (they love it when clients tell them they are better :D) and go in prepared with an idea of what 'fake' lab work you are proposing to buy the equipment for. They will ask you about it, not to see if your buying it to make meth but because ... they are a chemistry equipment supplier who vend to hundreds of post doctorate fellows who want nothing more then to have a pair of ears to brag about their work. If you go in there sounding as if your lab is running well, and can fake memorize enough to make it sound like your a scientist they'll likely sell you most things. Don't walk in with a pile of money in your hand ready to go, keep it in your wallet, pretend to be browsing their other equipment and prices as you pick out your own and then bust out your wallet when you pay. They will think you are genuinely interested in their store (they'll probably think you ended up buying more then u had planned if you browse and chit-chat enough) and not some hood-rat come to get his meth production equipment, pay and leave as rapidly as possible.
It's all about appearances, and with the # of clients a typical chemical supply company deals with, as long as you fit in as a normal businessman they won't care at all. They don't LOOK at each product request form for 'suspicious' purchases because they just have too many purchase orders to go through to do that. They don't work for the DEA and the DEA doesn't pay them, so why would they hold up distribution to check in detailed scrutiny every product request? To that end, they process so many forms that a suspicious purchase request will stand out in flying colours, so don't make huge purchases of glassware at once, make several orders over weeks (the stuff that stands out to them is QUANTITY, if you request 50 2L RBFs ... that's a bizarre quantity).

safflower oil?
and you ever heard of hundred dollar bills?
how are they gonna track you anyway?
I wasnt talking about chemicals strictly glass
safflower oil > saffrole > mdma
i meant in the sense that they have shit like this on ebay, im sure they have glassware.
... as im also sure that the DEA would rape your shit as soon as your order arrived.

Where did you learn that you can get saffrole from safflower oil? Lol
You're thinking of sassafrass.
-
Yea, I can understand the pre-finalization constraint. But I think some people would still appreciate it, even in that case.

come on man heebs are smarter than this are you just frontin' like you have no foreskin?
FLAMING & TROLLING ALERT
sam why do you have to act like such a dick? Every single thread I see you comment in you treat everyone as though they should already know everything (when that's what these forums are for) and as though you do know everything.
We're here to help and all I read from you is arrogantly flaming noobs who are just trying to get some answers. Grow a pair sam.

nah, that was defo some derpery on my part. and i feel embarassed through the onions of anonymity, since i usually do know better :-[

lol relax, it's all in good fun. geez. people get so uptight about just some words, it's ridiculous.
hai guise - understanding and tolerance starts at this level - don't you see: if we are all sensitive to words hurting us and all that shit, then how are we ever supposed to overcome adversity like racialism and the drug war?
i know i'm one to drop no-PC bombs quite frequently, and it doesn't matter. people should stop being so sensitive to goddamn WORDS. MAN. WORDS. what if i swore at someone, or hurled racial epithets in a different language? none of you would give a shit cos you wouldn't understand what i was saying. and that means you're not attaching the "hateful" meaning to these words. while on the other hand, with languages you do understand, you are and do.
NAWIMSAYIN, DAWG?

No shit, I was just funnin with the guy, and jews call themselves heebs if you didnt already know that.
Its only short for hebrews..
I have nothing against jewfro, its not like me or him, either of us are gonna cook any mdma any day soon...
In fact what I said was a complement to jews, they are smart you know, Einstein...ever hear of him?
We have to have tolerance and be able to make fun of our selves.
Basic common denominator is we all share the breath of life, all living beings are equal.
word, bre'drahn!
