After doing all the work of placing a money order to get bitcoin I had already lost 10% of my money due to fee's. I then tried to buy something from a vendor but he didn't want to sell it to me because I had no transaction history. He told me to release my bitcoins and cancel the order, however after I did I was only refunded 11.72 bitcoins out of 13.75. So that's another 15% loss right there. That was also the only vendor I found that had the product I wanted, and who knows how much more money I'm going to lose on top of my 25% loss already if I want to cash out.
1. How am I supposed to get a transaction history if no one wants to buy from someone who doesn't have one?
2. Can I get all the money back that I lost for no reason seeing as the vendor never had to any work?
Bad experience with silk road thus far...

The road can be pretty shitty. Wait until you get genuinely ripped off. Getting bitcoins, getting them into your account and making an order is just plain shitty. Then you get to play the waiting game and wait to see if your goods arrive, then you might get bad dope, nothing at all or arrested.
Welcome to the Onionland.

That is most unfortunate. Do try to figure something out though. They will be many scammers/cancelled orders/problems while utilizing SR, but then again for the risk the reward is pretty big. Other buyers are willing to give you a try, just message them before ordering anything. If they say no, move on to the next. You can also get a transaction history by the purchase of other non-risk goods, and leave feedback. Anything concerning getting money back will depend on the situation, for more info contact the admin/mods, and they`ll look into it. I hope you have better luck acquiring your item next time. Its gamble as Vinny said, sometimes you win, sometimes you don`t. Of course having a good relationship with a established vendor will always give you the goods or sort things out.

Silkroad will "get cheaper" for you with experience, don't worry. Everything is expensive till you get the hang of it.
Give me a shot, I'm selling to buyers with 0 feedback ;)

I don't understand why you would follow his orders like that. If he didn't want to sell to you, all he had to do was to cancel the order himself and you'd get back exactly what was in escrow. But he marked the order as shipped and asked you to finalize, is that correct? And then he out of the badness of his heart refunded you just part of the coins? In other words he ripped you off. You should have immediately contacted support and reported his dubious dealings. Just so you know, by waiting four days after ordering, if the seller desn't ship, you can cancel yourself and get back exactly what was held in escrow.

I love to take orders from new people here! Look at my stats:
flaxceed
has been a member for 3 months
was last seen: today
ranked in the top 23% of sellers with 100% positive feedback from 109 transactions
has 99 fans become a fan
I require FE if you have less than 5 transactions, but upon completion of your first order with me you will have one transaction under your belt and you will only need four more to become "trusted". It isn't so hard to deal with the road once you get acclimated. And it helps to choose vendors who are friendly and communicative. Like me.
You might want to try coinapult.com as a way to get your bitcoins. I hear it is pretty easy and the fees are not so bad.

If only you had DNP flaxceed! And what does FE mean, finalize early? I never quite understood what that meant.

I'm not sure about this exact case but I had to cancel two orders recently. I did not mark them shipped. I cancelled them within hours of being placed. Both users received their btc back minus the fees (4%), which was kept by SR, and not the vendor.
OP had stated
2. Can I get all the money back that I lost for no reason seeing as the vendor never had to any work?
This kinda insinuates that OP believes the vendor has the 4%. But it is SR that kept the 4%. OP should have stated Can I get the money back as SR didn't have to do any escrow holding.

So I contacted SR support and the problem was that the order was hedged. I was paid back the amount I spent, but at the BTC rate at the time of the refund. This is kind of annoying because the value of bitcoins has went down since I got the refund as BTC is bound to fluctuate a lot. This is especially frustrating because SR got to cash in on the profit that my bitcoin was making while the transaction was being processed. However, if the value of bitcoin went down I believe I would have gotten more bitcoin refunded to compensate for that so I guess it has to be a 2 way street...

I have my eyes and ears open so maybe in the future I will have DNP. FE means finalize early- in other words I get the bitcoin before I send. This is a protection against people who try to scam sellers and it is pretty common for that to happen when someone has less than 5 transactions.

Look at the digital goods section and buy some cheap ebooks/warez/gamez/pr0n. Most of that stuff is below 0.10 BTC and gets you a few transactions pretty fast.

I would recommend not doing that. The vendor can look at them and see that you`re doing it to rack up cheap transactions and decide not to sell to you. Your best bet is to find a vendor that accepts 1st timers or FE and play the waiting game.

Okay. I didn't know that vendors can see your actual transactions, just the count and the amount spent. But indeed, if one had 10 transactions with 2 BTC spent, it's fairly obvious.
