Title: BitLaundry vs BitcoinFog: what is the difference?
Post by: LiberPater on May 03, 2012, 08:13 pm
Well, what is the difference between them and which one do you prefer? If you know other laudering/mixing service which works with a different scheme, please post here and explain it.

And what about blind bitcoins? Yeah, I know it is off, but what was his method (and the difference between bitlaundry and bitcoinfog)?

You could transfer between different instawallets (instawallet.org) before transferring to Mt. Gox, etc. but bookmark the urls they provide. Or, if you have an anonymous account with a tormail address set up at one of the exchanges you can pretty safely send bc right to your SR account right from the exchange.

Yeah, but this works for buyers with a anonymous deposit in the exchange.

What about the services bitlaundry and bitcoinfog?

That isn't enough by far if you are a seller. BTC can be tracked which has been shown on this forum (DaMan tracked the movements of Tony's BTC from the rip off).

And at the OP I use BitCoin Fog for small amounts or for larger amounts I will run my coins through 1 first and then BitLaundry. That's only one stage in the process of cashing out safely though. A lot more to it than that.

Using both services would be expensive and costs would be transferred to your buyers. This just make sense if they use different scheme to mix and laundry your coins. Are they different or not?

And what about the dead "blind bitcoin"? How they used to work?

I think DaMan manged to track tony because of the large amounts and how they split then pooled together allowing transactions to be tracked.  Had the movements occured over an extended period of time with varying amounts of volume, I think it may have proven impossible for a person to track.  Bitcoinfog does exactly that when withdrawing funds.  Multiple wallets over X amount of time starting in Y hours.

Buy, to my actual question.  What is a "small amount".  That's such a subjective term.  100BTC? 10000BTC?

Both of these mixes are the same type, the only (potential) difference is who runs them. I would go with the one that gets more traffic since that will increase your anonymity.

Would a bitcoin casino serve the same purpose as a mixer?
Question 2... are there any popularly used BTC casinos?

Thanks for the answers. Uau, Tony didn't use any laundry service. Bad option for a big seller as he used to be.
