So I tried setting up vb with true crypt and ubuntu but for some reason my HD wouldnt partition the drive and after I restarted my comp it wouldn't work. I heard Tails is another option, is it easier to set up?
-
I have tails on a liveusb and it was extremely easy to do
-
how big should the drive be? i have an old external that I used for backing up some old comps but i think it might be too slow/old
-
If you're using Ubuntu or any other linux distro, burning the tails ISO to a usb is just like any other live CD. Use the dd command:
dd if=~/Desktop/tails.iso of=/dev/sdx bs=1048576
adjust the command to reflect the location of your tails.iso and the correct hdd designation.

Would someone please let me know if I can boot using TAILS on windows8 OS and then run TOR through a Darknet Virtual Machine?
-
Yeah, if your computer can support usb boot.
-
im running w7, but i'ma try to just rip ubuntu on the external
-
If running tails all internet connections go through tor and since tails is a live cd/usb it is already pretty much a virtual machine
Easiest way to get it onto a usb download unetbootin at let it do the magic
-
also, is it even necessary or is it pretty much just for vendors?
-
Yeah, if your computer can support usb boot.
well it's an hp running windows8 and the uglysurfer (SR vendor) recommended I use the Darknet Virtual Machine ...my problem is I bought it thinking it could boot my laptop which it can't and that sucks because I want to remove the hard drive
-
What cryngie said...if you run tails it's like running a virtual machine. But if you have HP and it's a moderately new, it should be usb bootable. You can always check in your bios.

restart your computer hit whatever key gets you into bios usually del go to bios boot settings normally 2nd one down remove the hdd option and replace with the usb drive
