Post by: Saebur on June 03, 2013, 05:51 am
So just wondering what others may suggest to rid of packages, bags, containers for orders.

Post away!

Everything I've ordered has come in a small enough envelope that it can easily be fed through a shredder. I think every adult should have a shredder in their house. It's perfect for getting rid of sensitive information. Plus, its fun to shred random stuff.

Ive got a little ceramic dish on my balcony. I tear the receiver address and the sender address and the postage stamps and any barcoding or marking off the envelope/package and burn that shit up. Empty the ashes into a pot plant and water over it. All the rest I just throw in my special waste bin bag that never has anything with my name or identity in it. I usually throw this bag of waste in a neighbors bin in the lane way behind where I live. This may be over cautious but thats how I get rid of it all.

Yep, burning the paper with sensitive information on it is the way to go for those, like me, who do not own a shredder. Everything else goes in the recycle bin for me.

Another tip for those with shredders. Dump your shredding directly into your trash bins. If it is in a trash bag it can be easily collected by someone who could work at putting shit together like an insane jigsaw puzzle. If the shredding are loose in the bin they get mixed in with trash in the can/truck/dump and are gone forever.
