Anyone notice that most of the vendors available in public searches are almost all from Western Countries USA, Canda, Netherlands, and some misc Western Countries.
There were two Peruvian Coke vendors about a month ago but they seemed to have disappeared. Is there any reason why there are not many vendors from Central and South America?
Given prices in Mexico and southward to Central America and into South America, it would be logical that vendors from here can see the highest profit margins by going straight to retail. Is there a reason we don't see alot of this? (Difficulties shipping, interdiction) Or is it that alot of Spanish speakers are not really in the scene with TOR?

TOR is most popular in Europe and NA, most of the business I do in Asia is with expats and South America is not very common either. The cultures are quite different and most of these places don't use the same websites when it comes to Email, social networking and online distribution. It going to take something different for silkroad to really break into these markets an example of this is Mercadolibre its the name ebay uses in SA instead off operating solely under ebay they use a totally different company.

Interesting. Yeah I had a similar thought, but what made me ask this question was that what you said makes sense for end-users, but makes a less sense for distributors.

You answer your question yourself.. most vendors are located where shipping methods work the best.. if you could send drugs easily by mail from production centers to distribution hubs cartels would be out of biz.. somebody has to pay bribes on customs and enforce big chunks of land. Explanation is that the volume of mail from Peru or Ecuador to USA is like 0.001% of the regular mail that travels inside USA, inside EU, and between those two.

The above is the primary reason.
The West has the better postal infrastructure and has significantly more parcel volume allowing for reduced risk of detection and seizure. Moreover, parcels from countries known for production tend to have their inbound parcels flagged for contraband.

Developed Western countries have higher drug consumption as well. Also, most Latin American cartels aren't very technologically apt. People involved with them have better things to do than sell relatively smaller amounts on SR. Internet penetration is certainly increasing in developing countries, but their idea of using the internet is often just going to an internet cafe to use Facebook. Tor is beyond their current level of computer literacy.
-
Isn't it obvious? It's because the west is the most technologically advanced, has the best resources and products available. How is someone in a war torn country in the East going to have access to Tor, a laptop, and a reliable and secure postal service when many of the people living there don't even have democracy, clean running water and a proper shelter?

This for sure. Also packages coming from America to other places are not as 'suspect' as some other countries.

What are your opinions about countries like Brazil and Costa Rica. Seems like they have pretty decent postal systems. Using these countries as an example, delivering a gram or so of powder by envelope doesn't sound impossible using something like Coreigas.

just watch out in the future when the nigerians start getting into the sr, that's all i can say.
-
More better reason is in other country there not crazy money waste on stop DRUGS so not need online market ;)
-
a lot of developing countries have non existent or really slow internet just for clearweb, it'd take ages to use tor. then computer ownership and internet access from home isn't anywhere near as common as it is in europe/north america. you got language barriers, corrupt postal systems, no way to cash out bitcoins, mail would get profiled. it'd be shit, look at la fuentes success rate if he's still vending... china works because they ship crazy amounts of legit packages all over the world so it doesn't stand out like colombia for example.

Look around Silk Road and tell me if you notice something about all the listings. Maybe, like, a certain language that they're all in?!
:P

True, but there are heaps of European vendors, their English isn't so great, but it's good enough.
There are a few vendors in India too, which is good to see.
-
one reason i can think of is that english is not widely understood in south america. a would be vendor would have a hard time learning how to use pgp and what's the best stealth techniques etc by reading the forums because everything is in english. not to mention customer service lol
