Title: Bitinstant deposit of bitcoins stolen from Coinapult!
Post by: Travis Bickle on July 28, 2012, 04:36 pm
I had made a three-figure cash deposit to Bitinstant, only to discover that the resulting bitcoin funds were withdrawn (STOLEN) from Coinapult by someone -- undoubtedly a hacker! -- who got hold of my four-figure PIN.

DAMN! Buyer beware!

I think the major mistake I'd made was instructing Bitinstant to send Bitcoins via Coinapult to the SAME Tormail address I had used before. Also, I used the same PIN as the previous time. So the main lesson to be learned is to ALWAYS use a NEW secure (anonymous) email address, and to use a new PIN, with each new transaction. I just tried it this way and, bingo!, the fresh funds I've deposited with Bitinstant are on their way via Coinapult to my instawallet. :-)
