I have seen people estimate the size of the economy at 20-60 million before, but Silk Road seems to have taken the feedback off of the main page, and counting this feedback was the only method I know to make an estimate. Earlier this year about 20-30 feedbacks per hour were happening. Do we think this has gone up substantially? Is there a way of finding this out now?

Place an order. Record the order number. Wait a week. Order something else. Record the order number. Compute the difference and divide by 7.
Obviously, this does not account for cancellations / refunds, and it makes no distinction between a 0.01 BTC order and a 100 BTC order, but it'll tell you roughly how many transactions are occurring on a daily basis.

Tracking the top 5 vendors might give a good estimation of transaction volume. I would guess that the top 5 vendors make up anywhere from 50%-75% of the total volume of SR.

I think they've just changed the order numbers, I don't think they're sequential any more theyr'e alphanumeric hashes

The Bitcoin Trader has a bunch of cool stats. Where did he get these? It shows the post count doubling on this forum in the last 2 months!

I'd rather not know... and I'd rather others not know either.

^^^^ This! A thousand times this!
The whole point of SR is that it is anonymous. Why would you want to know the stats which may lead to compromising the service?
