Title: Incredibly Annoying GPA Error
Post by: Wokker on August 12, 2012, 08:49 pm
Whenever I paste someone's public PGP key onto my clipboard in GPA, and chose to decrypt, I run into the same error everytime.  The exact message is:  "The GPGME library returned an unexpected error.  The error was: General Error.  This probably a bug in GPA.  GPA will now try to recover from this error."  At that point i have to close out the error message, and nothing else happens, no decryption.

I can decrypt messages that I myself have encrypted no problem, ie., write random text onto the clipboard, encrypt with my key, and decrypt.  I've searched the forums and it appears a few other people had the same problem, but never found an answer.

I'd appreciate any help.

You're not supposed to decrypt someone's key, you're supposed to import their key. Put a public key into NOTEPAD don't use wordpad, save the file. Then import that file you should find yourself with a new public key in your keychain.

Yeah that was exactly the problem.  I guess my understanding of how it worked was a little off.  Kind of feel like an idiot.  Thanks for the help Cozmo!
