Title: Tormail
Post by: phubaiblues on November 11, 2011, 04:05 am
I know when I first started bopping around on here, tormail seemed a pain, at least for me, but now seems to be working really good.  Slow, like all things tor, but nicely protected.  To get to the tor addy, you can either keep it saved, like I do with other Tor urls on keepassx, but here the site tormail.net brings up the tor addy: http://jhiwjjlqpyawmpjx.onion/

Bunch more info on their non-tor website: tormail.net

I like it, and my username was clear :)  Let me know, any downsides others are aware of...

Their .onionnet-facing server was down for -- what? -- two days, *one time* since they launched.  (Not sure about the clearnet side SMTP durng that time.)  That's the only trouble I can recall having with it.

That's not perfect but it's damned close, especially for a hidden service.

Yeah, it was probably something I was doing, no doubt...back when I first tried it, I was trying all kinds of stuff, and for some reason I got a bad impression of tormail, but to me, for what we need here, it's ideal.  A little slow and unnecessary for anything else, but when i really need the anonymity that tor provides, this does it...I figured it would be old hat for everybody else, but I've been using safe-mail.net...when I first got over here, and we were all asking about a good email setup, that's what I ended up with...it's also when I was first getting rolling with pgp, and I was using linux, and just somehow got a bad impression of tormail...but I'm sure your take is the correct one.
