Title: JayJay - Scammer & Security risk?
Post by: thisaintme on July 25, 2012, 09:31 am
I placed an order to JayJay. He asked me to finalize early, no big deal since it was only around $50 and no one else was vending the same product from Europe. Order did not arrive to a near-by country in 8 days from sending, so I sent him a message asking if he has sent it or not. After that things got interesting; He asked the name the order was made to so he could check if it was sent. What the fuck? Anyway, I gave him the name and he did not reply altough he had read the message almost instantly. Sent him another after 3 days. Also read but no reply. Then I left him 1/5 feedback and SURPRISE, he replied almost instantly that his grandfather died ::). I think I have heard some similar sob stories from scammers before.... :D

Order has still not arrived after 14 days. Remembered again why to not finalize early. But what mostly concerns me is the fact that he keeps customer data. When I wrote about that in the feedback he sent me a PM saying that he has a very good memory :D. Must be a fucking Einstein to recall all customer names, specially foreign ones.

This is not a newbie being pissed after loosing 50 bucks and trying to get revenge by claiming shit, I have around 80 transactions and 12k$ spent on SilkRoad.

Any thoughts from you guys about this?

Well that explains a lot...

But still, keeping customer records? That guy is a fucking asshole and should have his vendor account removed.

OP, I don't think he asked your name because he keeps records, but rather to see if your package was still there. Since you asked if your package was sent out, he could check to see by the names on the packages still left to send. You're letting your mind go a little crazy about that...

That said, I was about to make a good sized order (over $600) with jayjay and decided not to when he asked me to FE. With his past showing that orders occasionally choose to not arrive (even inside the same country) and the fact he has a (88), I'm not about to even place an order with escrow. Its a shame because I really wanted some of his products, but if he can't deliver, then he can't deliver.

no, he didn´t put it like that. he didn´t even try to explain it in anyway except he has "very good memory of names" ::). if he were a good vendor who knows what he is doing and wanted to protect his reputation, i think he would have explained it to me instead of just ignoring.

i would not either order anything from him, even with escrow. he is just looking to split the escrow after a no-show. i think that is the case with all the stuff he has listed, most of them are not available from other vendors so he can lure people in.

Hi,

i'm rather new to silkroad and so far i have placed a total of three orders (~30 BTC) on silkroad.
i have bought all my goodies from jayjay and he gave me a friendly and proper introduction to your market.

Since i was new to silkroad he asked me to finalize early and i did so. All three orders arrived
in a range between 1 to 2 days (domestic!). Moreover all products perfectly fit jayjay's description and
i got a freebie *yeah* \O/.

The packaging was okay but not perfect nevertheless i haven given him a  5 of 5-rating for all three orders
since he was really friendly and supportive.

I can't say anything about your security concerns, jayjays profile states that he somehow keeps "cryptic notes".
This could be anything in between a simple ceasars chiffre on addresses
or just a piece of paper with counts for products. i don't know ... probably you try asking again.
in my point of view jayjay seems to be a very reasonable guy.

just my 2 cents

in my point of few you seem to sing in jayjay´s bandwagon. 1st post in forums and it was a rather heartening defend for vendor who has a history of suspicious activity.

just my 10k

actually, i have expected this kind of behavior since it's widely know from the internet forums.

Speaking today, after three sales @ silkroad
this is my personal opinion:

i haven't had any problems with orders from jayjay,
nothing more ore less.  furthermore
i'm not affiliated with jayjay in any other kind than a customer.
the difference in writing texts should underline my words ...

this is my first post because i have registered to the forums today.
i am a member of silkroad since less than 30 days and i did not try to conceal that fact in anyway.

how can newcomers ever be trusted, please tell me.

i feel with you in your security concers, so please don't feel offended.

i just ask you to keep polite and tolerate my subjective point of view, you don't have to accept it.

have a nice day

e.

That guy is a fucking asshole and should have his vendor account removed.
For some reason this just does not seem to happen on SR.  I am not going to criticize the owners and operators of this site but it seems that scammers and bad sellers are never removed.  For example kolojni or however you spell his name has been scamming for days yet not removed, why?  One would think it would be in SRs best interest to keep things legit as possible.  On other websites when a scam is even suspected the seller is removed immediately.  I won't lie, it is troubling that the operators seem not to care one bit about preventing scams or protecting peoples safety in regards to vendors.

I am really sorry, but I have to say:

He was very friendly, so I decided to FE as he asked for.
BIG MISTAKE!!!!!
It never arrived (Domestic) And he is not replying!!!!
And he is still on the road (was last seen: today)

It was only about 50 $ so I'll survive it ;)

cheers

edit:
he answered and offered a resend. We'll see!
