Title: First time buyer -- Escrow?
Post by: over on September 29, 2012, 04:52 am
Hi, I found something I'd like to purchase on SR. However, I also read that buyers with less than 5-10 transactions are forced to finalize early. I am wondering if there is any way to enable escrow as I am purchasing a decent amount ($100+). The seller is new and does not have previous reviews that is why I am wondering if there is anyway I can still use the escrow service.

Thanks!

Buyers with less than 5-10 transactions are not forced to finalize early. However, most vendors will ask you to FE with less than 10 transactions or been a member for less than 1 month. Whatever you do, don't get sucked in to FE. Just shop around and send some vendor's a quick PM if your interested. Once your up and going it's a lot easier compared with those initial first few transactions. What product are you looking for in case I might be able to help with suggesting a vendor?  :)

I finalized early for my first transaction before the vendor could even ask me because I figured there's a lot of buyer scammers here and I wanted to show I'm legit.  I just went with a trusted domestic vendor and made a relatively small order.  Remember if they screw you over you can still leave them 1/5 bad feedback, and most good vendors don't want that.  I wouldn't FE for more than I'd be willing to risk losing though just in case.

If the seller is new then they cannot ask you to FE, so you can order safe in the knowledge that you're protected by escrow :)
