Hi, I'm from the UK
I've made loads of attempts today to do a bank transfer to mt gox, each time the transfer gets declined. Has anyone else been having the same trouble? I know there having problems with Barclays bank at the moment, but I made a deposit last week fine. I've emailed them, but don't get any sense.
Anyone know another easy way to buy bitcoins when your from the UK?
Thanks in advance for your help

It's temporarily down.
Barclays have the deposits, too many deposits were made (barclays imposed a 300 daily transfer limit) so now MTgox needs to retrieve all those deposits that went over the limit imposed on them. Mtgox is saying that Barclays is not releasing funds, but, ultimately, it WILL be either refunded back to originating banks or passed on to MTgox. afterall, buying BTC is perfectly legal and acceptable so there'll be a fix for funds. whether or not MTgox continues to allow GBP deposits after this is questionable.
In a press release it was mentioned that the UK deposit suspension was temporary, so it's quite possible that it will all be back online soon (maybe early october)

Yeah, me and a mate have had the same problem today. I'm guessing the 300 transaction (deposits) limit has been reached, and then Barclays put a block on the account. I'm considering trying after midnight to see if the 300 daily transaction limit has been reset and then it will allow GBP transfer. I hope so.
If it's not working later, then I'm presuming this block on that a/c and sort code is permanent or at least semi-permanent.
The way I see it, there are two possible reasons for this.
1.) The type of account that Mt.Gox have with Barclays is not a proper business account, and therefore they're not paying fee's on money being deposited into the account. This might explain why Barclays have restricted them, and are trying to make them switch to a business account where they have to pay fees, and would then no doubt have to pass them onto people like us.
2.) The establishment are cracking down on Bitcoins. It's fair to say they don't like this free-market currency as THEY don't have any control over it, and therefore can't impose fees or follow the money. Also, it must be very difficult to attack the SR as it's concealed on the Tor network, but it's far easier to attack the way people get their bcs, by making things difficult for the Bitcoin-exchange websites. I used to get my coins from Intersango, but they had a similar problem and are no longer able to accept UK bank transfers.
The crazy thing is, who ever heard of a bank that didn't accept money!!?? This is a big concern for all of us. I would say something is going down behind the scenes and this is part of an orchestrated plan by the establishment.
Can anyone recommend a good Bcs exchange which allows GBP bank transfers?
cheers
