Title: rework of the selling system.
Post by: 34tuforlunch on June 23, 2012, 08:45 am
So I have been vending on silkroad for about two months now and the one major flaw I find is the selling system. It is really quite unorganized. I think a system similar to what player auctions use would be much better.
This would be better because I often sell out of items and have listings still up for it. Lets say I have one ounce of weed. in the current setup I would put listings up like 2x half ounce amounts available + 4 7 gram amounts and 8 1/8 amounts available. If some one was to purchase the two half ounce amounts the other listings would still be up. With the PA type method their would be one listing and people would select an amount from 1 gram-1 ounce and the price would be calculated depending on amount. This would stop people from being able to buy more than their is and it would reduce the amount of posts in the item listings. It would also allow features like searching for the largest amount available for a certain price.

Sorry if I did a horrible job at explaining this if another member understands what I am saying it would be great if they could elaborate on the topic. This would really make buying and selling on silkoad a lot easier.

This can simply be done if SR had some sort of bulk order discount option for vendors.
In your example you want to sell an ounce as 1/8, 7 gram and half ounce amounts at different prices/gram.
If you could put up 8 1/8 amounts for sale, and give xx% discount for two or more orders, and yy% discount for four or more orders, you would achieve the same.

ATM the only way to give bulk discount is to add more listings with different amounts.
If vendors could use bulk discount in their listing, there would be less listings, making SR more easy for buyers to browse.
I guess 30-40% of all listing are "the same in another amount".

It's also a solution to the "overbooking" problem 34tuforlunch mentioned.
