Title: Stupid questions from a newb
Post by: etsubucs31 on April 03, 2012, 11:42 pm
I just signed up for silk road today and am looking to make my first transaction, and had a couple of questions.

1. What does it mean to finalize early?

2. I'm trying to get bitcoins. I signed up for Mt.Gox and am trying to fund it through Dwolla. Dwolla is currently verifying my bank account which it says will take 2-3 days. Is this a good way to get bitcoins, and is there a better way to get them without waiting 2-3 days.

3. What is PGP?

4. Thanks for any responses, I know these are stupid questions

1. Finalizing early means a vendor wants you to send them the bitcoins first before sending it, in most cases it is because you are a new buyer with little to no stats or an international customer. It also means that you will not be within the SR escrow system which means that SR cannot protect you in anyway, once you finalize, your coins are gone so only do it with extremely well known vendors.

2. Dwolla to Mt.Gox is sufficient however if you absolutely can't wait you can do moneypak to btc from a trusted vendor, there are several other ways of obtaining btc just see what others are doing.

3. "Pretty Good Privacy (PGP) is a data encryption and decryption computer program that provides cryptographic privacy and authentication for data communication." It is basically used to encrypt messages and is recommended to always encrypt your address when purchasing things on SR.

dude dont make a buy yet until you learn stuff please...we need a buddy program because new people are SOOOOO vulnerable.

To get bitcoins you need a green dot money pak for cvs radioshack walmart... then you load cash on it at register.
THEN GO TO BTC BUDDY AND GIVE HIM YOUR CODE DOLLAR AMOUNT AND REGION IN USA were you bought the card.
'Dont do dwolla or any of that bitinstant it takes to long and most importantly it is not as secure.
