Title: PLEASE adopt this rating system
Post by: ZenAndTheArt on May 20, 2012, 01:26 am
The system;

Shipping,
 Country      [select]
 No. of days [input]
 Packaging    [input /10]

Product,
 Quantity     [input /10]
 Quality       [input /10]
 Strength      [input /10]

Communication,
 Comms.      [input /10]

Finally,
Asked to FE [yes / no]
 Notes     [input statement]
OVERALL  [positive / neutral / negative]

The buyers response would then appear on the product page like this following example,
[4] DAYS to [UK] package [7/10] QNT [8/10] QAL [9/10] STR [6/10] comms [10/10] FE [NO] overall [+]
"The product didn't come vacuum packed, which I ... bla, bla" ect. (The notes would make up the second line)

These results could then be tabulated for each product listing. It would ONLY be the overall rating that would affect the vendors rating. This would also give a clearer picture of the vendor. At the moment the vendors want a 5/5 rating so their score doesn't go down. But do we really mean 5/5 every time? Now a buyer can leave a neutral overall score without lowering the vendors rating. On the vendors homepage you could still have a breakdown of their rating into %positive, %neutral and %negative. Their main rating (the one next to their name) would be a % of satisfied customers (positive and neutral) out of a hundred.
I think you would still need the place to write notes on each order. You can't cover all the bases with stats alone, the buyer still needs to have a voice. If they don't take the time to input any stats rather than averaging them (5/10 across the board) I think it would be better have no stats input at all. But, once data has started to be collected there are some great things you could then do with it, comparing products data, timelines, overall Silk Road stats (like % FE, that's one I'd like to know). And, they'd all be easy to correlate and display.
Maybe, I'd have a few different stats in the product part (price?), and maybe a score out of 5 instead of 10 would be better. But, I think we can agree the current rating system needs a change (if only change the overall rating). I do think the No. of days to a country is a good stat to have in each review.
So, what do you think?
