Not sure if I'm in the right topic but here goes.
I buy bitcoins using mtgox international wire transfer. They used to have a local Australian bank account you could transfer money into but they ended it.
Now my bank charges money to do a transfer.
Is there a better way to buy bitcoins in Australia? Aussies of Silk road what is the exchange site you use to buy coins?
Thanks

spendbitcoins.com/buy - you can deposit at the Big4 banks, and with the exception of ANZ which is a day wait, your coins are usually in your first wallett within 4 hours!
Their rate is not very competitive compared to MtGox, but they're well worth it for the ease and anonymity!

I looked into it and it seems that place does cash over the counter transfers as I have to withdraw cash and pay it to my local bank branch.
Isn't there an easy way to by doing a internet banking transfer? I used to do one with Mtgox until they stopped it and went international wire and worldbitcoinexchange.com closed down.
-
Not sure about internet transfer... never comtemplated it, I don't want my IRL banking linked to BTC... paper trail is one way they'll pin your arse to charge sheets!
-
I'm pretty sure https://cryptoxchange.com/ does Australian banks. But you do have to set up an account and I think maybe ID so its not anonymous. I used spendbitcoins.com/buy the other day and its actually pretty damn easy and didnt take long at all.
-
Give Bitpiggy a try https://bitpiggy.heroku.com/. Although I would go with what has already been suggested above, its by far the best way of obtaining bitcoins.
-
If you're serious about staying totally anonymous, I can't actually see any reason, short of maybe agoraphobia, why you wouldn't slip down to a bank and deposit cash!
-
Those spendbitcoins guys must talk to a lot of drug users :) But then again, a giant population of Australia are drug users, or previously have used drugs.
-
Drugs? I know nothing of drugs?
I purchase Bitcoins to fuel my online poker addiction...

I'm going to try the spendbitcoins.com method but I'm not happy about going to the bank to deposit cash into a bank account called Cryptocurrecy or whatever it's called.
It looks suspicious than doing a wire transfer to mtgox when you know it's probably done automatically by an online system. Someone probably sees the transaction and approves it.
-
PLEASE explain what's suspicious about going into a bank to make an OTC deposit, to pay for your most recent eBay purchase?
If you wanna avoid suspicion, DON'T wear your Balaclava!!!

I have a question. After I make the deposit I need to take a photo or scan of the receipt for the transaction and send it to them?
-
nope... you can if you want it speedy speedy, but it's not actually necessary! I did the very first time but not since!

nope... you can if you want it speedy speedy, but it's not actually necessary! I did the very first time but not since!
I'm going to try with a small amount first like $50 it's the same story with Mtgox I tried small amounts first and then went $500-1000 deposits.
-
I've found if you're making purchases that equate to 50+ btc, they move faster! But I'm possibly just imagining that, made a lot now they all blur into one!

Can I ask what kind of amounts have you used for them? Small <100 or Larger than 100>
-
spendbitcoins is super easy, anonymous and very quick - funds into SR same day. It's a bit more expensive than the exchanges, but for me it's worth it.
I tend to put about $300-$400 a time through them.
-
smallest was 150, biggest has been mid 4 figs!
-
Do you usually get cryptospend to send the bitcoins straight to your silk road address or to a bitcoin wallet first or?
-
Used spendbitcoins.com/buy for first time today. Simple and Fast - Recommended
-
Thanks guys this is a handy thread, I used spendbitcoins for my first bit coin buy.
Easy as 123
Got them deposited straight to my wallet on my pc, they where there half hour after I sent pic of receipt.
-
nope... you can if you want it speedy speedy, but it's not actually necessary! I did the very first time but not since!
So even without the photographic evidence the Bitcoins still get deposited?
And should a tor email addy be given?
-
+1 for spendbitcoins
-
Does spendbitcoins only work for Australians? If so, it's a pity, looks like a good site and they have a quite good rate atm

Just my two cents,
made a huge decision to do a transfer through Drcashancarry. Dr is slow to reply since in UK however always replied and was helpful. after contemplating between him and spendbitcoins made the transaction all went tremendously smoothly. you can cash deposit or internet transfer. easy steps to follow, however he is out at the moment maybe that was my fault :P VERY GOOD RATES
can all be done with no connection to SR which is what i did, youll notice this in his method.
happy buying
-
Jeremy West at spendbitcoins is a legend, always follows through fast and only once made an error and gave me an extra btc. I don't use anyone else. Used his service 10+ times.

Okay. Seriously How did I get to -3 karma on this post? I'm way nice. I have zilch to do with spendbitcoins other than buying my fucking btc from them. I'm a nice person. Bad karma makes me sad :(
-
I don't like to deposit large sums of cash into the common wealth bank - firstly bcoz i don't have large sums of money and secondly it's too much of a schlep. I would have to make weekly visits probly blazed to the eyeballs and probly find myself becoming all to familiar with the 5 or 6 ppl that work there, like waving to them on the street. I've often seen the 3 tellers in the Coles where I shop. I don't want to be gladhanding and high-fiving bankers, no way! So spendbitcoins sucks for me. I liked bitpiggy bcoz u could do everything from home, but now they have closed up shop - go to their www for the tawdry details. I just joined the worldbitcoinexchange, based in Oz, but so far it seems a bit rigourous - uploading photo id etc ... There must be something better than spendbit out there? I'm also a Mt. Gox member with that aurum exchange thing and getting redeemable vouchers. Doesn't anyone have any good algorhythm's in their head for an efficient australian btc exchange?
-
Is it just me or is spendbitcoin down? All it says is 'Error establishing a database connection' for me.
-
Hoping it's not the same case as bit-piggy, this site seems much simpler to me than using mtgox or whatever.
-
It's back up again. Too bad its saturday or I'd be depositing money right now.
-
when you go into the bank to send money to spendbitcoins do you have to give a name - show I.D?
sorry if its been answered already
up untill now i have wired the money straight from my bank account to Mt.Gox, its been easy and quick and i can do it from home, downside is obviously being connected with bit coins
but up untill now i have only made very small purchases so it hasnt bothered me - i wanna ramp up my spending a bit so would love a way to get bit coins that doesnt require I.D etc..
i also just noticed the 7/11 next door has installed a money gram machine, would be lovely if i could send money to an agency for bit coins from that !
-
Never waited more than 4 hrs with JW, and one time, this one time, a little while ago, this one time they were in my first wallrt before i got home FROM THE BANK! How totally RAD is that!!!
-
That's pretty rad man. I wish Monday would hurry up and be here already, I'm so anxious to get my bitcoins and start ordering.
-
Is there any way other than bitpiggy for online bank transfers ? bitpiggy is down ATM and i know alot of people who live ages away (100+km) from a local bank
-
Drugs? I know nothing of drugs?
I purchase Bitcoins to fuel my online poker addiction...
I donate my bitcoins to charity
I've had them in a wallet before getting home because I had some other things to do while I was out too SBC/JW all the way!
-
+1 for spendbitcoins and bitpiggy, buying btc is not illegal so fuck it!
-
Spendbitcoins (SBC) was beyond straight-forward. If you quote the reference number you're given by SBC to the teller, you don't even have to scan your reciept.
I may have done something noob, but I just put the btc's straight onto my SR wallet. I've read (after doing that, of course) that some people do multiple transfers to various wallets or whatever.....is this really necessary? The cash is put into the bank anonymously, and put into SR which is also encrypted and anonymous.......what am I missing?
Anyway, so far.....thumbs up for Spendbitcoins.
-
please could someone help a total neeb out. if i am going to the bank to buy bitcoins through spendbitcoins and then put htem into my crytpocurrency before sending to SR which of these steps can be done through tor and using a fake name and fake email address as im a bit confused by this. also im using tor through liberte usb so it can make jumping between pc and tor a bit difficult wihtout shutting and rebooting.
thanks in advance.

Uhh... I'd like to help you mate, but my Swahili is out of practice!
-
sorry i just wanted to know which of these sites ie spendbitcoins and cyptrocurrency you had to access through tor or clearnet as i know some dont let you access through tor.
secondly when using those sites which ones it it best to use a fake email and name with to signup with and transact with.
thanks in advance.
-
i use tor with SPBTC and i use my tormail address, you don't even need to leave a name anymore!
-
yep got that bit, but then where do you send them to from there? and wherever it is you are sending them to is that in clearnet or tor?
cheers
-
tor all the way, there's sites like SR where you can open an anonymous account and use their BTC wallet. Poker sites, tumblers etc.
But even then, unless they can actually link 1 piece to the other, having some evidence of BTC usage on your computer isn't illegal... It's not gonna help your deniability much, but still, better safe than no liberty!
-
ok thanks for that i'll will have a look for those kind of sites.
cheers
-
is it just me or is the price of spendbtc at the moment really high?
-
So would spendbitcoins.au be possible with netbank ?
-
i took a break from ordering just before the 420 disaster and min getting pinched, wanted to get back on the horse (fyi not a pun) but fuck me if it doesnt feel painful and doing a mental x6 instead of a x5. any idea why its so high and if it will go down soon?
-
The aussie dollar has shit it's guts, that's one of the reasons BTC has gone stupid. Blame the government, they won't mind! Our current leaders have never taken the blame for anything, so this shouldn't even register to them... Just like opinion polls!
-
so you reckon its a case of "JEW-LIAR, DITCH THE BITCH, CARBON TAX, ECT"then eh?
-
This is serious (maybe!!), but when something goes wrong in this country at the moment, when ISN'T it that slags fault?

fuck the lot of them, especially julie bishop, woman is a fucking talkingpoint-parrot on qanda, and fuck whichever lib was on the nt qanda who suggested that a business that those unemployed abos should start could be a hairdresser. exposing his biggotry by implying thats all those dark people are capable of. they are all shite
-
whats happened to spendbitcoins?
-
Not that I have any love for our leaders, but having a lower valued dollar is not a bad thing. It is for us, but not for the economy in general. Having such a strong dollar is extremely bad for our exports.
If you're going to hate them, at least do it for the right reasons.
Back on topic: spendbitcoins and bitpiggy are now both offline - what's the next best option for BTC?
-
permanent?
-
If you're going to hate them, at least do it for the right reasons.
Nah... It's much more fun to be childish and irrational
-
sbc is back online again aparently
-
I never noticed it being down, checked the rate earlier.

Agreed, actually :)
I think spendbitcoins forgot to pay domain renewal - was redirected to a default godaddy page when I tried to use them on Friday during business hours. All good now though :)
-
^ ditto
and when it did come back up i got no rates.. but seems well now :D lets hope his price drops on mon
oath
-
the rates are so bloody high compared to mtgox and others, cant be fucked using them though, spendbitcoins is just too easy.
-
Have always used different commonwealths for SBC, no name nothing!
Used Westpac for the first time, didn't have to show ID, BUT DID HAVE TO GIVE THEM A NAME/MOBILE NUMBER & SIGNATURE - FUCK WESTPAC, make sure you can think on your feet 8)

I goto westpac occasionally, I've never given legit details, but I'm fucked if they call me on them on the spot... Running shoes!!!

LOL - Hell no man, even pulled a nice signature out of my ass
Just I wish I had of known and putting it out there for others so they are prepared
-
I have spent a fair few long nights scouring the interwebs for the best solution.
My opinion:
From what I saw with bitpiggy being down, your main options are cryptoxchange and spendbitcoins. (i prefer cash to teller method anyways)
Cryptoxchange will land you some btc for just a touch above mt gox rate, however spendbitcoins is usually around 50c per btc higher than crypto.
The catch for crypto is the $5 + 0.6% fee to deposit funds, and the additional 0.6% transfer fee that basically rules out mt gox as a viable option.
So if you're like me and only in need of $100 to $300 worth of bitcoins at a time, then yeah the extra like $5 or $10 for spendbitcoins is worth staying away from the exchanges.
With cryptos new "$1000 deposit = no fee" deal, in my opinion this is therefor the minimum deposit required for just trying to get a hold of some btc on there and basically rules crypto out unless you are going to play the market more profit.
Also I was reading that the aus dollar will not be doing so well for the next 3-4 weeks, so expect similar bitcoin rates to the present.
It is predicted that in a month or two, the aus dollar will be closer to parity than it is now. Take note though, the btc rate is not TOTALLY dependent on the dollar exchange rate and BTC is actually a rather risky investment.
-
Is it just me or is spendbitcoin down? All it says is 'Error establishing a database connection' for me.
Yeah just checked that down for me as well, it was up 12 hours ago. Troubling signs but hopefully it's just a minor problem with the server or something.
Has anybody heard of any bitcoin exchangers that use moneygram? Everytime I go into a 7\11 I wonder...
I'd also like to know about anyone using moneygram to buy their bitcoins. Can you use it with mtgox?
-
yep 7/11 moneygram would be dope - if only someone would pop up and provide the service!
-
Used Westpac for the first time, didn't have to show ID, BUT DID HAVE TO GIVE THEM A NAME/MOBILE NUMBER & SIGNATURE
Buying bitcoins isn't illegal, good luck if they want to try and trace my BC.
-
i use tor with SPBTC and i use my tormail address, you don't even need to leave a name anymore!
When i deposit at the bank (westpac) i have to put a name/phone no on the slip. What bank do you use?
-
I know its not illegal 4903 but the less traces the better, and it won't be long until they start trying to regulate BTC trading I reckon
And ozzy, commonwealth are the easiest, no name or number or sig required and the coins are in wallets quicker in my experience
-
I think if you're transacting 3 or 4 gorillas then some pareanoia is probably warranted, but 3 or 4 ton? Like someone said earlier, just looks like you've got a gambling problem!
Which, IMO, is worse than a pot addiction!

Just calling them gorillas makes you sound like you have a gambling problem! ;D

That is totally true. No way they will let it keep happening when they can't tax it and control it.
And ozzy, commonwealth are the easiest, no name or number or sig required and the coins are in wallets quicker in my experience
Sounds like it. Screw Westpac. Commonwealth from now on.
-
+1 for commonwealth.
They don't ask any questions at all.
-
yep I tried wbc, cba and nab (not anz due to them not displaying the reference number straight away) and wbc also caught me off-guard asking for the name and number... "My name is Mr Burns" ok, and what is your first name Mr Burns? - "I don't know"..
I actually prefer NAB - you filled all the details in yourself on the old-fashioned slip, and just hand it to the teller. CBA you tell them everything over the counter and if you've got a nervous voice, might not be a good idea :)
-
SpendBitcoins + CBA is the only one I have used so far, and it was too easy. I had the account details and everything printed on a piece of paper, went up and told the girl I wanted to deposit X amount into this account with X reference number. She said sure thing, and before I knew it I was walking out the door (with the receipt and my original piece of paper). No questions asked. If she had of asked what it was for, I would have just said I was buying car parts off eBay.
Definitely one of the easiest ways to go about it :D
-
eBay comes in handy sometimes, even when you're not using it!
-
SBC just hit $5.995 fucking all this media attention is bad for the coin
-
CBA cash deposits are the best. No ID and quick!
-
i have a quite a few questions about using SBC so any help would be appreciated
1)can you access SBC through tor?
2) am i correct in thinking that i use a fake email address on the enquery form but one which i can access to get the code?
3)The bitcoin address on the deposit slip is where i want SBC to send the funds to?
4) From that address i should send them to an instawallet and then onto SR?
5) Which of these processes can be down through tor and which cant?
thanks in advance just trying to get my head around it all.

1) Yep, you can use TOR to order from SBC. I have done it a couple times now.
2) I just created an email at tormail.org to use on SBC, that way you can email them the receipt from the teller if you want and then you will know when they have sent the funds (so you know when to expect them).
3) Yeah, this can be your personal wallet, or another website, or whatever method you wish to use before sending to your SR account.
4) If you read around on the forums there are various methods you can use to transfer bitcoins around to make things more anonymous if you wish.
5) Most of them can be done through TOR (as far as I know), and nowadays, sites will state whether or not you can access them through TOR. (Cryptoxchange for example).
-
Hi dudes,
*snip*
So I've read more and this is my understanding of the process. Feel free to chip in and tell me what I'm doing wrong or right.
Steps...
1. Use public computer to setup a SR account, a tormail and follow the process on spendbitcoins.
2. Drive to bank. Ask teller to include my reference on the deposit. Return to public computer and if bitcoins aren't in wallet - photo (clear exif data) and send receipt through to spendbitcoins.
3. Possibly wait a few hours
4. Bitcoins are in my SR wallet and everything is anonymous - at this point or before this I can wash the bitcoins through several other places but this is only if I'm paranoid/overly security conscious?
5. Again from public computer I can now safely use SR to make purchases.
Is this more or less the gist of it?
Two things I don't understand is 1. Is liveusb/liberte required if I'm using a public access computer? and 2. If not am I simply rocking up to a public computer with TOR on a usb and using it off that?
-

Interesting..I'm going to go try this. If I'm not back in 2 hours assume I ran into a pack of males and I'm lying in a ditch somewhere waiting for the Xanax fairy to find me. If I happen to make it back I'll give you +1 karma ;)

When did this happen? Did I miss a meeting?
I mean, I knew about the talons, the fire breathing and the telekinesis, but pouches? Where abouts? Don't the tentacles get in the way?

Oh wow, if only I knew this before I went out :| The schools here never told me about all that. What kind of school doesn't even know about their own native animals..

Haha, I'll say! I just finished shaving my feet before I left as well.
After a nice walk into the bush I spotted the majestic beasts, under the moon light their pouches had a gold glow emitted from the opening. As I got closer, I noticed I was being watched, it felt like the Eye of Sauron was burning into my soul, but in reality I was lying on the ground and the pack leader was jumping on me. I managed to get up and make a run for it, on the way back I managed to reach into the pouch of one of the females..it was amazing. As I reached in, it was warm (and gooey), and all of a sudden an overflow of numbers fell before my eyes, I can still see it now. I just have to find out how to get these numbers into my account. Does anyone trade hallucinations for bitcoins?
*Note* I don't condone going after kangaroos at night time, or anytime for that matter ;)

16 Gauge - ...well I'll just have to rely on the suit.
In other news, it would seem the price has gone up a bit more. Currently sitting at $6.05 on SBC. Ordered $50 worth today and got 8.25BTC compared to Friday when $50 got me 8.37BTC. So, it's not a huge difference for now, hopefully we won't see too much of a rise.
-
Fark, if the aussie dollar drops back to the old US$0.50 - US$0.60.
I suppose local prices should adjust but internationals could cost a lot more.
EDIT
In terms of buying it looks like its gonna be cheaper to do "international bank transfer" and eat the $20 fee, for orders over $200.

Paid $6.30 for my first whack of bitcoins and I've been lucky to snare a whole bunch at $4.40... Who'd have thought currency fluctuations would affect purchasing drugs!

Thoughts? (apart from don't skitz the fuck out yet and punch my house to pieces).

What bank did you use to deposit the money? I know that the websites states that one of the branches takes a while to show the reference number, so it will take longer for you to get your BTC.

It sounds somewhat difficult for an Aussie to get coins. I need hints of better was for buying coins in the US if anyone can help me please shoot me a PM.
Good luck Aussies! Long live Silk Road!

All good guys - five hours since the start of the working day AET so they are starting to process work now.

It sounds somewhat difficult for an Aussie to get coins. I need hints of better was for buying coins in the US if anyone can help me please shoot me a PM.
Good luck Aussies! Long live Silk Road!
It's not too bad. If we didn't have SpendBitcoins, I'm not sure how I'd go about it. It's all just a matter of trying it out once, and then you will find it gets easier and easier. If we had more options it might make the prices a little better for us, but I'm just happy to have someone that accepts local branches. I wish I could help you out with buying coins in the US, a quick forum search might help though.

No worries, hopefully they make it to your SR account, safe and sound. Enjoy, and spend wisely ;) As soon as you realise how easy SBC is, you'll keep going back, time after time. I know I do.

Have faith in spendbitcoins(Jeremy) he always delivers :)

Purchased Bitcoins from Spendbitcoins at a rate of 1BTC : $6.061 yesterday @ Commonwealth bank, easy as, no questions. By the time I got home I received an email saying they had already forwarded the coins, took a few hours to come through though.
Just saw today its back up to 6.237 inflation's a bitch.
Anyway im off to the markets ;D
-
hey guys i dapple in these forums a bit and i do agree spend bitcoins is great, but the price is incredible! i wish we had easier ways to do this i was lucky enough to get my first lot at 4.9 = 1 when it was 5.5 (aus bitcoin swapper on SR) now its even higher! but thats the price we pay i guess...
-
Hey I found another bit coin site that accepts cash deposits for Aussies, a fraction cheaper than spendbitcoins.
Mrbitcoin.com, anybody used it?
-
I went and made the deposit as usual , came home tried to email the receipt I tried all the 4 emails....info@ spend@ jeremy's own email and another one and all were delivery notification FAILURES. I tried calling it went to message bank. Not happy that the email contact is down. First time I have had a issue.
-
ok dudes i've read most of this thread in kind of wonderment to think that so many people are getting roasted with spendbitcoins! I feel kind of embarassed to tell everyone that there is a BTC swap-shop on SR that gives you the MARKET RATE ie. the bitcoinprices.com rate or better for a deposit into commbank,.
this can be done online or a cash deposit can be made. I kinda went out on a limb to try it the first time and everything was simple and pretty fast(they are based in uk so you may have to wait a few hrs for them to wake up). But as soon as they get the cash in their account they email you back and hey presto loadsa bitcoins!
But it seriously is the best way to get a large amount of BTC......the minimum order is 30BTC, which is reasonable for any regular shopper. My first order was just over minimum way back when it was 4.40, then bought a lot more BTC @ 5.50 a week ago when the market rate was about 20c higher than that!
http://silkroadvb5piz3r.onion/silkroad/user/9d9bb4dbc0
the only problem is that they sometimes have too much demand so they stop listing.
Questions?
-
interesting to hear some people saying spendbitcoins.com is turning to shit.
never had an issue.
regarding the above post....when you add in the $30 international transfer fee ($22 i believe if done via internet banker rather that at branch) then it really is no cheaper using this method.
-
hmm interesting.
I might give Drcash a try next week and report back.
I will have to weigh up the risk vs savings though.

I've had my email to sbc bounce back before. Only once though, I resent it about 4 hours later and it went through. I guess their mail server went down for a while. I got my btc after I resent the email.
-
Never had an issue, I'd go as far as saying recently they've been faster and more Japanese... uh... efficient!

there is no international fee, it's a commbank acc.!

Oh awesome, better give it a shot then.
Thought you meant had to send the money o/s from CBA, my bad. Worth looking into now.
Though the times i have used spendbitcoins it has been flawless so far
-
when using spendbitcoins do you guys give your wallet bitcoin address and then transfer later from your wallet to SR account?
this is how i did it my first time a couple of days ago - but i wondered if some people go straight from spendbitcoins to your SR bitcoin address?
oh and yeah, paying $6.5 per bitcoin thru spendbitcoins felt like i had been raped....in the butt , the upside only being that it seems to be the most annonymous way to purchase them
-
I am considering starting my own bitcoin business, there is a demand and I have the capital. It just seems like such a jew business, making money from trading money stops me from really getting off my arse and doing prelim business plan.
Spenbitcins is good in areas, but has serious flaws a competitor could take advantage off.
Bitpiggy is down, they have shit rates too and the guy is american.
Dunno maybe Jeremy is spot on and 10% is razor thing margin or maybe he is gouging because lack competition and the headfuck btc can be for people try to get in to the whole thing.

Mrbitcoin.com, anybody used it?
I just checked out http://mrbitcoin.com , and it's just a messy kind of bitcoin info blog?? Maybe you got the site wrong?
Anyone else know what the correct site is?
-
http://www.mrbitcoins.com/ (with an 's')
Im pretty sure that is what he was talking about. Looks similar to sbc and has a minute variance in fees.
UPDATE on Dr.C&C: It seems to be all sorted via email, which could very easily lead to miscommunications and misunderstandings (I think this has already happened for me haha) but I'm a very patient person and if it does go through, the savings in the long run will be worth it for me. (close to 1aud per btc cheaper than sbc).
Also, has anyone else seen or have more info on the mtgox websites claim: "LOCAL AUSTRALIAN BANK DEPOSITS (Coming soon!)" ? If they are referring to cash deposits than this would solve our problems :)

Jeebus that site quotes $7.10 AUS for 1 BTC ???
-
Has anyone had contact with Jeremy today? I placed an order this morn and for once he has been slow and unresponsive, completely out of character from my previous dealings with him.
-
I had to wait about 3hrs on friday for the coins to show in my account, had me slightly worried, but that was probably because it was my first time using SBC ;)
-
Update: All is well, nothing to worry about. Jeremy continues to be the bizness! ;D

Going to give DrCash a go as well, the rates he offers seem to be better. Will update with the outcome.

(Also copied this from another thread I posted on about mrbitcoins.com)
Tried doing a deposit with mrbitcoins.com. Selected Westpac as the bank to transfer from (at the time that was all that was available, now CBA pops up too).
When I got to Westpac the person behind counter told me the BSB wasn't even a Westpac number. I then tried a BSB online lookup of the BSB provided, 021456, and it was reported as an invalid BSB. However the CBA BSB looked ok.
Also tried using the "Contact us" feature on their web site, and noticed there was an error on the site im guessing where the captcha picture should be displayed "Input error: Invalid referer" (typo included) and I couldnt even contact them.
I also tried sending an email to their support address support@mrbitcoin.com and got a bounce back.
Is the site not ready, or is this just another stinking scam?

Fuck man, even if it is not a straight up scam, would you really wanna do business with someone so incompetent.
How much do you wanna buy?

The worst thing about spendbitcoins is trying to translate the catchpa :o Or is that just me?
-
From order to SR account in 3 hours. That's about the same amount of time I spent on that stupid catchpa ::)
-
I need some help regarding spendbitcoins.
The instructions in the email I was sent said to attach a photo of the receipt in my reply. I am using tormail and I every time I try to attach an image it says 'File upload failed'. I've tried zipping the photo as well but that wont attach either. Can anyone help me out?
-

so do you go direct from spendbitcoins > your SR account?
or is there an instawallet or bitcoin-QT inbetween?

Sending them the receipt only speeds up the process (if you correctly input the reference number with the deposit). I find with emails if I have the attachment open while trying to upload, it fails.

If I use spendbitcoins, I use a dummy or Tor email. Due to the anonymity of cash deposits you should generally be safe to go straight to SR wallet. (obv large amounts should prob go through a btc sifter like "bitcoinfog" I think its called).
UPDATE ON DrC&C: Unexpected cash flow problems have led me to not go through with the deal. ATM I cannot afford the risk of losing out. Sorry guys. Too much real life, I know :)

I used to go through all the rigmarole, but I figured seeing as I'm depositing totally anonymous cash, it should be safe enough to send straight to my SR account. So that's what I've been doing :)
-
Made another successful transaction today with spend bit coins..............always top of his game and never lets me down
-
3 hrs and 20 mins yesterday! And it seems to be getting more informative, yet streamlined!
Just a shame I didn't learn how to get into SR until too late for yeaterdays post! (Matrix is the Ultra Champion of Customer Service!!!)

well yeah that's what i was thinking.. might do it this way , would cut out some middle man steps that only slow down the process really
there mus be more people out there doing it this way? no?
any reasons anyone can think of as to why it wouldn't be safe?
cheers 8)

This is a really nerdy thing to wonder, but would Jeremy need an AFSL for selling BTC? I assume he would as it is a financial product.
Ooh, and I just noticed there are new options available to me. I can 'thank' or 'discourage' posters. I can see me using the former but I doubt the latter will get much of a workout from me as it would go against my live-and-let-live and don't-judge nature.

Did you neg me at the same time? :o I just went up one/down one

just a thought for those who think throwing in a couple of instawallets between SBC and SR..... it makes fuck all difference. you can still follow the btc everywhere, even if you split it up say 4 ways. unless your going to spend days, its just pointless. safest way is to use a tumbler.
but as others say, using tormail, keeping everything on the onion, and using a hat, wig, mo or paint on beard going to the bank put money in as per instructions, and walk out. destroy reciept when you can, you 'could' go from SBC straight to SR..... besides positive facial recognition, no-one can prove sheit ;D
but a tumbler is always safest!
Not sure if it's the same or not, but I shift my coins between BTC olpoker sites then into SR. I did use BTC wallet client in the early days but didn't like having the info on my PC.
Nope, didn't neg... Never neg the Lass!!!
-
Someones jealous that you've got your Pubes now Lass!!!

Ive searched and searched for a bitcoin 'tumbler', with no real luck, its talked about but no actual site for doing it pops up
can you reccomend one?
cheers

Or maybe its someone who secretly hates you and negged me because I karma'd you up :D
On topic, I still can't see where there could be a security flaw in depositing cash over the counter and having the BTC go directly into my SR account. The only one I can see is the cameras at the bank, but I'm ridiculously close to 100% sure that the cost/benefit analysis of going through footage to find someone who's deposited a small amount of cash for a personal amount of gear will result in a whole lot of 'you must be joking'.

Hey , my first bitcoin transaction was with mr.bitcoin mainly for anonymity , i made the deposit via CBA , the only issue was the teller kept asking questions and i buckled lol "is this for rent" "Yeaaahhh no its for computer parts i want from gum tree" "you know you can do bank tranfers?" "oh really , the seller only accepts cash deposit" "oh thats probably because its instant and faster then bank transfers" -___- *im going to punch your first born with a gun face*
Teller definitely showing great customer service but , I can certainly say it didnt help that it was my first bitcoin purchase for drugs lol
I received the bitcoins under 2 hours from when i sent a picture of the cash deposit receipt .
Cheers

AS IF anyone here doesn't like my scintillating reparte and wholesome wit Lady, another hypothesis please!
You're probably right about instant SR deposit, but still, too much security can't be a bad thing. AND generally, not always, I've got my shit planned well enough so 2 days of moving coins around isn't really a biggie!
-
ahh cheers , thanks for clearing that up
no wonder when i searched bitcoin tumbler nothing came up - think i will give FOG a go on my next deposit i think
-
It seems we are in the wrong business brothers.
Maybe we should be investing in bitcoins instead of drug dealing. (Bitcoins were roughly worth $5 a month ago, now they're pushing $7)
-
I always use an sr address for payment when I use bitpiggy/spend bitcoins (I use a new sr address each deposit though). If they really want to prosecute a measly 3.5g weed order (which is the most I buy at 1 time) they can go nuts.
-
Used Spend bitcoins this afternoon, I got my btc's just minutes after emailing him the bank receipt. Very fast and easy.
-
BOOM I post that and then refresh SR and magic coins, fuck I'm too high and that's too fucking trippy :D and then I'm .04 short haha fucking too much weed today ladies and gentlemen!
Still need help TT?
-
I have been using cryptoxchange but SBC seems a hell of a lot easier and even a bit cheaper at the moment.
Anyone made any purchases with drcash? Could also be a goer but organising transfers with someone via email just seems a little shady.
-
damn drcashandcarry has suspended all transactions until further notice. I normally use him if i need a larger amount compared to SBC as its much cheaper.
-
SBC seems to be redirecting to bitcointalk.org saying its down, but with no updates for 2 days? Anybody else?
-
WU payments have been disabled on SBC...not that i used them just sayin
-
Cryptoxchange is easy, you do have to set up an account but this requires no ID. The terms and conditions state the account has to be YOUR REAL NAME, but unless you plan to withdraw real $$$ eventually, there's no need at all. Make up a name.
As for depositing cash, this is 'anonymously' via any Westpac branch. Worst case scenario there is CCTV of you entering the bank. LE could possibly gain visuals on "anyone who deposits into Crypto's account" but this is a long shot, and perhaps valuable as some broad intel rather than serious evidence.
The teller always asks for your name and phone number (as depositor) but again no ID is requested.
-
Ive used this guy several times BitPiggy very easy transfer to his bank account and thats it.
-
Hey guys, I've been usin SBC for a bit, Jeremy is a legend. Although, all my purchases have been for small amounts, 300 - 500. Has anybody had any experience buying coins from him in the thousands?? I'm about to buy between 1500 and 2000, was hoping I might save on fees all round if I go that way, but is this not the case?
Anybody out there made a $1000 + BTC purchase off Jeremy??? Cheers guys.
-
Hahaha, I'm a dick
Just to clarify, I intend to SPEND one or two thousand DOLLARS buying BTC, not buy THOUSANDS OF BITCOINS!!! I wish!
-
Doing a bit of a *BUMP* up in this biatch.
Just want to get a feel for what the currently accepted "best practice" is for buying BTC in Oz.
After reading through heaps of threads, this thread seems to be the most comprehensive, hence the BUMP.
I'm an SR virgin, trying to my research and do things the smart way from the outset.
Seems to me the way to go is:
spendbitcoins >>> bitcoinfog >>> SR Wallet.
Can anyone recommend a better alternative?
Seems to me from reading through this thread that many people seem happy to go straight from SBC to SR.
I'm in no real hurry, so I'm keen to take extra precautions, on account of why the fuck not, I want be as safe as possible.
-
that does look like the way to go.
