Title: Waiting 9 - 12 days so far to get our PINs reset, not good enough.
Post by: Lester on June 10, 2012, 06:13 pm
Hello, im writing to represent the few people that have been stuck waiting for their PIN to be reset for the last 9 - 12 days. The security system is fine, 7 days is fine, but any longer and we are running the risk of letting our coins float on our SR wallet for too long. This system is fine if it is well implemented, but if any one of the people waiting overtime for PIN resets has their BTC lost/stolen they are obviously going to be -very- angry. I would imagine this would be enough to impose the requirement of this PIN reset system being almost automatic, or very frequently attended to. Perhaps it could be in a different section of the "Contact Us" form so that it can be distinguished from other support  tickets easily.

In any case, i love Silk Road. But can you guys PLEASE just get our PINS reset, some of us really need to make vital orders. One guy has been waiting 11+ days, that is just crazy.
Please, please, please. Please.

Id just like to add some info to (and sneakily bump, yes) the thread.

At this stage, as far as i have seen from the PINS PINS PINS forum there are five people including me currently waiting overtime for their pins to be reset. As previously mentioned, the most severe is at around 12 days, im at about 9 or 10 myself.

I havent been contacted or had a support message viewed by SR Support in 8 days. There are people who have been in PIN reset overtime for -6- days, thats nearly twice as much time as is supposed to be required for the level of security we need. To me this raises several points, the first and only one worth mentioning at the moment is that this situation puts us buyers (our BTC in our SR Wallet) at risk for longer than is needed to secure the legitimacy of the person using our accounts. Why implement a system to keep us safe from one danger if it forces us to be in the firing line of another danger for longer than necessary. Dont get me wrong, im perfectly happy with the PIN system as long as: It works, Is very frequently monitored OR made automatic and most importantly doesnt expose us to any unnecessary dangers (such as extended delays that leave our BTC floating around in the nether at the risk of Thieves/Exchange Rates/Rollovers/Whatever Else). I think these points are pretty fair and logical, yet arent being fulfilled at this moment. Im giving SR the benefit of the doubt and assuming that in the past there havent been serious delay issues like this. I just hope we get an explanation and some support soon because I and im sure many of you also cant afford to throw away money because a website wont reset your PIN - Regardless, people have time constraints too and its looking like im going to have to bite the bullet and throw more money down to get a friend to order for me and -at least- get the ball rolling. Its just a bad situation for everybody, nobody likes to be glued to the computer screen pulling their hair out hoping that the next time they click refresh someone will have replied to their support ticket.

Seriously dude, have a bit of a look before replying.

Do you think SR would let you transfer BTC to another SR Member without a PIN, yet not let you .. 'purchase' a product from somebody (Basically the same thing, sending them BTC) without a PIN?

Either way, i checked just to be sure and you cant. Your fix is basically what i am considering doing after getting to this point with no reply from SR Support - It sucks, and i really cannot even believe it but i may have to deposit an entirely new set of funds to get an entirely new set of BTC on a friends account, finally then i can make my purchase and deal with this other crap later. Hell, as much as i hate my BTC floating there doing nothing at least if an order is on the way here thats something, although its fairly ridiculous that i would have to drop more money to get the same initial result, even after waiting 9 days.

Just updating to say that my PIN was finally reset 3 days late. Im not too bothered, it was a hassle but im just glad it finally got done - things for me could have gotten alot worse had it been delayed even one more day. Having said that, this isnt something that should be repeated. Now once again dont get me wrong, i love SR and everything it stands for - Im just suggesting that some method or practice be put into effect that will mitigate/abolish this problem in the future.

So you're saying that even in the best of timesm when there are no "database" problems, it takes seven days!!! to reset a pin? That's ridiculous. Why couldn't it be instant? The hassles that makes, being up in the air like that: no purchases, no withdrawals. That's got to change!
