hey there.
to establish some feedback for my fencing business
(yes my stuff is stolen), im giving away some free usb sticks:
Verbatim USB Micro Black 16GB
http://www.verbatim-europe.co.uk/en_1/productc_usb-micro-black-32gb-2gb_10.html
new price: 14 EUR
got 5 sticks at the moment, will get some more next week : )
my items are brand-new, directly off the shelf.
no original packaging, otherwise shipping gets too expensive (1,45 vs 0,75 eur).
since it would be pretty easy for me to inject malware, i encourage you
to wipe / reformat your stick using a linux live cd, before using it!
ntfs filesystem should give you the best performance, i guess.
preferrably to established members (>30 posts and/or vendor account).
if youre interested, send me your address via private message.
use pgp encryption! you can find my key on pgp.mit.edu --> nky29
first come, first serve - go go go!

update 1: no original packaging
Everyone getting one should make sure you check what's on it before putting it into your main computer. q:

I was just about to say the same! Put it on a computer disconnected from the internet with nothing incriminating and then do a full search of your system for anything that wasn't there earlier before trusting the sticks to be legitimate

yeah, it would be too easy to spread malware this way.... : /
so please: boot up some linux live cd and do a reformat of the stick before using it!
as far as i can tell you, the sticks are brand-new, never used,
never connected to a pc.... but dont trust my words ; )
4 sticks left!
-
I'll take one if they are still available.
-
2 sticks left after 2,5 hours ^^
/away zzzZZZZzzzzz.....
-
If there's one left, I'd greatly appreciate it..
-
May I have one?
-
would be down for 1. any left ?

anyone who uses any electronics or digital goods they get off SR is retarded

cant disagree, left aside your choice of words. i still could patch the firmware to inject malware,
which would survive a reformat...
how about electronics in sealed original packaging? not thaat easy to imitate, once it was opened.
to be 99.9% secure, you would need to write original firmware to the device + do a reformat.
however, a quick search didnt yield a single manufacturer offering firmware for their usb drives...
1 stick left!
-
I can check the drive when it arrives, certainly no more dangerous than getting one from ebay or a chinese wholesaler.
-
I think I claimed it! Thanks! (see above post)

10 posts is a bit poor... but what the heck. you got it!
0 sticks left. next week: more usb flash drives + micro sd cards for free! : )

I'm going to preface and say I have no ill will toward OP, but I'd like you to consider what you're doing.
You're sending USB drives that could be full of malware (perhaps even programs that send a message to local LE saying "Hi! I use the Silk Road! I have recently purchased drugs and they are shipped to [insert keylogger that grabs things that look like addresses]. Please check my mail whenever I have a package to see if my good are in! Thanks!), that most people would not clear despite your warning, drives that are stolen (and most people don't endorse products that harm other people. Who's to say you didn't rob a small local electronic store of these?), to up your feedback (which may result in you later selling/scamming for bogus things).
I'm not trying to badmouth you, and I think the odds of the above being true are low, but again, see it from our perspective. You could be someone (or a small group) of some government agency looking to gather intel on drug users and sellers, if not trying to bust the people outright. And why flash drives? Why not pretty much anything else? Headphones, mice, etc.
In any case, if you are legitimate and you're just robbing Best Buys or whatever, I wish you best of luck in your vending. Truly.

You're sending USB drives that could be full of malware [...] that most people would not clear despite your warning [...]
honestly, they would deserve getting busted for being so careless.
wiping a flash drive takes me 5 minutes maximum. someone who
never used linux before could spend an hour, maybe.
but a free & secure usb flash drive should be worth it.
drives that are stolen (and most people don't endorse products that harm other people. Who's to say you didn't rob a small local electronic store of these?)
im stealing from big corporations only. (cant prove that, of course...)
small stores or private persons are much harder to rob!
also the damage caused is much higher.
i just wanna bite my feeding hand, not tear it off.
And why flash drives? Why not pretty much anything else? Headphones, mice, etc.
theyre useful and small (easy to steal, cheap to ship).
other possible (small) free-sample-items:
memory cards: will get some next week (microsd, i guess)
ram modules: could break while shipping
software/music/movies: its free anyway if you know where to look
I'm not trying to badmouth you
chill, feedback is always welcome : )

I don't dispute that people who don't take precautions should get what's coming to them, I'm merely saying that of all products to give as free samples, the choice of flash drives may raise an eyebrow or two, due to how absurdly easy it is to compromise others' computers with them. As for the "why," the possibilities are endless. An informant looking to make a buck from the state, data gathering to try to pinpoint sellers, a botnet used for causing disruption to SR sometime, or just good ol' BTC theft. Another eyebrow is raised when you mentioned these were stolen without anyone asking first. Assuming you are LE, anyone ordering these is committing a crime, which may be handy down the road when pressing charges, obtaining a warrant to collect evidence, or whatever (though I cannot say exactly how helpful this would be, as I don't know much about obtaining warrants and that sort of thing in Europe). I think it's somewhat ironic that in the off chance this theory is correct, this will be one of the few products on SR that is advertised as illegal though the product is actually legal.
In any case, I don't have a strong belief or passion one way or the other. Anyone careless enough to order merch that is reported to be stolen, as well as install an opened flash drive, from someone who could be either LE, a hacker informant, or even one of the several vendors who saves his clients' information for a variety of reasons (blackmail, intent to eventually sell it, etc.), does not garner my sympathy when shit hits the fan. This is a market where we are blatantly breaking the law in plain sight, and there are people who would like nothing more than to throw our asses in jail given the opportunity.
If you are truly honest about everything you have said thus far, then I would recommend that you
1) remove the clause that your products are stolen and only private message that information should someone ask, and
2) push products that are used less frequently to hijack computers. There are tons of electronics that fit this bill, though admittedly flash drives are incredibly popular and useful.
I think you'll find criticism from people like me may vanish if you do, which can only be good for business.
If you are indeed lying, then I look forward to the eventual article. "Twenty arrested as [your country] starts to crack down on online drug market." It would be a nice start.
Either way, best of luck.

Thanks nky29,
My 16gb freebie arrived this morning and checked out fine on my sandboxed pc. It's the tiniest flash drive I've seen and speedy too.
Thanks again

Well sure enough this showed up at my drop today. The envelope didn't have a return address which is something to work on. I ended up letting my patsy keep it because it's be pretty fucking retarded to use digital media that I bought off here.
-
I just received this today. Looks great. Thanks nky29.
-
I'd love a free U.S.B drive, although I appreciate I don;t have many posts. Look forward to your listings either way.

Got mine yesterday--a very cool little device. Thank you sir!
