Post by: SealTeam6 on June 14, 2013, 05:54 pm
If you are actually fighting for reform of drug laws, post here, if you simply just want to get high, don't!

The fact that its a crime to use drugs is the biggest bullshit ever. Especially in a country like the U.S., that champions freedom. How can you call it a "free country" when personal freedom is nonexistent?

The crime of using drugs is a victimless one. No one gets hurt, except in a small minority of cases, the user themselves. How is this different from hurting yourself by, lets say, eating too many Big Macs? In a true free society, people should be allowed to choose freely, even if they are making poor decisions.

Of course, alcohol, which is actually more dangerous than a lot if illegal
drugs, is perfectly legal and is encouraged in our society. I was pulled over by a cop one time at a drunk driver checkpoint. He asked me if I had been drinking, and when I replied "I dont drink", he asked "Why not? What's wrong with you?".

As the great Peter Tosh once said, Legalize it, and I will advertize it!

The war on drugs has been proved not to be successful. Now it's time to change the strategy, and to focus on drug education instead on prohibition.
This way will be a lot less of crimes, corruption and the drugs will be better.

All you would have to do is switch your game up!

The war on drugs has been proved not to be successful.

Got to keep your eye on the ball. Success on whose terms?

Has it reduced drug use? No.

Has it resulted in a vast amount of wealth transferred to police forces, prisons, and private contractors? Yes it has. Has it bolstered a (U.S.) prison economy? It certainly has. Has it worked to stoke fear resulting in curtailment of civil liberties and fewer and less meaningful checks on government power? Definitely.

Now which of these things do the people waging this war actually care about?

It can't go on forever tho, eventually the public will get wise to the madness that's going on.  It's already starting to happen, every paper I open these days has some article condemning this insane behavior.

I hope you're right.

Seems to still be working for war, though, with the very same methods of misdirection.

Every time i read a pot bust story online on a news site that allows users to comment, usually the majority of comments posted are about how ridiculous it is to bust people for pot. Or about how ridiculous the War on Drugs is in the 1st place. I think public opinion is starting to turn.

But we have to keep on fighting!

I would love to see the Peter Tosh advert. Surely they could mock something up with CGI.
