I placed an order today (my 1st) and placed my address in the box without using GPG. I know this could put me at risk, because my info is more readily available, but would this be a red flag or a concern to a vendor?

better play it safe

Not necessarily. It varies from vendor to vendor. There's some who don't require it, but at the same time there are some who will cancel your order if you don't use PGP. There's really no reason not to use it; it takes literally an extra 30 seconds.

no problem this time. just use it next time

Thanks all - now I just have to learn how to use the damn thing...

Half my people don't use pgp (or gpg) when they order. I thin you should, but SR has some encryption built in as well.
The problem is af course if SR gets compromised.
Use PGP/GPG or privnote.com if you don't do pgp yet.
ALWAYS better safe than sorry.

I'd recommend GPG4USB. You can get it here and there's a tutorial as well. It's really pretty simple.

YOU ROCK! I had never heard of Privnote before - that's pretty damn slick. Are most senior users familiar with it? I ask because it is strictly a one-time view.

I don't care for videos that directly reference SR, but here's a good video to learn:

Thanks,
Privnote seems to be ubiquitous on SR.
