`625 BC`	Greek poet Sappho born on Lesbos island.
`1649`	In Plymouth, Massachusetts, Mary Hammon and Goodwife Norman are charged with committing "lude behavior upon a bed." Ultimately, Norman is convicted of lesbianism and forced to issue a public confession.
`1932`	Eleanor Roosevelt, wife and cousin of Franklin D. Roosevelt, meets lesbian Lorena Hickok, an AP reporter. They maintain an extramarital affair for 30 years.
`23 Jul 1984`	Vanessa Williams, the first black Miss America, relinquishes her crown after Penthouse magazine announced its plans to publish lesbian-themed photos of her in its September issue. Prior to entering the Miss America contest Williams had certified having committed no embarrassing acts of "moral turpitude."
